Tony has always only trusted himself.
Sure, people are great sometimes, and he tries to trust them. he really does. but when he’s really in danger, he always calls out to his own creations for help. He only trusts the things he’s built.
Because Tony Stark has been stabbed in the back enough times to never let anything he didn’t make himself have his back
But when he starts noticing odd gaps in his memory, and starts noticing patterns that don’t match up, he starts wondering if he can even trust himself.

years later and its still on my mind so here are some v easy ways (imo) they could have made endgame better w/o changing the whole plot;
-switched clint & thor’s storyline’s. in the beginning of the film, thor chops thanos’ head off without remorse. it would have made more sense for him to go into a beserker’s rage for five years & play judge and executioner rather than clint. clint, after losing his entire family goes into a deep depression and locks himself away in a shitty nyc apartment, formally retiring from “hawkeye”
-instead of nerfing steve’s entire character, have him officially become nomad and spend years on the road searching for answers. he watched his best friend die for the second time in front of him, he lost his right hand man and bestie sam, he watched hundreds blink away in an instance-- those are the people he should have been mourning (not a woman who died of old age years prior). he’s a stubborn bastard who would die before he gave up, and he should have been the one to end up in a san fran warehouse and let scott lang out of the quantum realm instead of a rat
-the avengers should have gone back in time to get more pym particles so they could do infinite runs (that was a major plot whole) and retcon, BUT so that there was legitimate stakes, they realize that the more they mess w the timeline and travel thru the quantum realm, the more they “fade away” and glitch (like ava starr slowly dying in antman 2)
-instead of reintroducing billions upon billions of lifeforms to a post apocalyptic society, the avengers should have used the infinity stones to make it so that the Snap never happened and reset the timeline. no one would know the sacrifices they made, but that was ok. then phase 4 would have had a fresh start rather than trying to write around the plot holes that endgame made
-the film should have ended with all the surviving avengers at a schwarma place just like in avengers 1, but this time we would know it was the last time we’d ever see them all together

I had a few issues with Endgame
In the wake of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 I watched all of the media involving the Guardians. This included Avengers: Endgame. This reminded me of the issues I had with the movie. (Leaving out the time travel stuff cause I’m not a big fan of time travel in movies)
First and foremost, the handling of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Their story up to that point had been about learning to open up and let people in. To be a family. Rocket lost every single member of that family. Nebula’s sister was murdered by their abuser. We got a single scene that conveyed their loss. Don’t get me wrong I liked this scene, but considering how much time we devoted to Tony Stark’s MANPAIN, I would have liked a little more that a scene that fits into a 7 second GIF.
Tumblr media
The bigger issue was not giving them a proper reunion scene. They’re a family and they had been separated for 5 years. I think we deserved a little more. Especially since they took the time to do the Tony Stark & Peter Parker reunion.
Tumblr media
But the BIGGEST issue was the handling of Thor’s entire arch. Thor failed to kill Thanos because he was consumed by vengeance, he WANTED Thanos to know who killed him which gave Thanos the time to snap his fingers and dust half the Universe. They took this man who lost his entire family, his home, most of his people, who failed to stop the “Blip” from happening out of his desire for revenge and you turned him and his alcoholism and depression into an in poor taste fat joke.
Tumblr media
This juxtaposed with the sincerity of how they treated Peter’s alcoholism and depression in Vol. 3 and it just makes me more disappointed. The Guardians showed concern for Peter, the Avengers mocked Thor.
Bonus nitpicks:
Rocket is smarter than Tony Stark. Plenty of comic evidence for this. Wanted to see Rocket dunk on him a bit.
Natasha deserved better. We got a whole funeral for Tony but nothing for Natasha in the film. So glad Ms. Marvel at least showed us that the general public know of the sacrifice she made for the world.

Steve’s Endgame Ending fixed
What if at the end of Endgame when Steve is returning the stones, he has to give up something he loves, right? So what if he gives up his super-serum effects (an au tweaked and borrowed from @growingpaynes-art ), and turns back into pre-serum-Steve? A list of reasons why I think this would work:
A) Straight off the bat it’s easy to keep Steve in the MCU with Chris Evans’ contract ending if they replace the actor who plays pre-serum-Steve (obviously with a guy who looks similar to the first movie, but without the CGI). I know people might be confused why he looks different but the MCU’s changed actors before and it’s not the hardest stretch of the imagination. Also thematically it’d be cool to have Steve be literally unrecognisable to the audience.
B) I think a lot of writers for the Avengers are so focused on writing ‘Captain America’; ‘bland, stoic, with no sense of humor’, that they forget about Steve Rogers; the young disabled man who would put his life on the line to fight fascists. This would be a great way to get back to the basics of Steve’s character and show the audience who he truly is.
C) Honestly it would just be nice to show that Steve is just as righteous and brave with his disabilities, something not often shown in media. Even the MCU likes to focus on Steve’s asthma and ignore that he actually was disabled. (which i’ll touch on in a second).
*and now for some more headcannon-y stuff*
A) From screenshots from the movie, and a list at Disneylands Tomorrowland exhibit, the canon list of Steve’s disabilites and health problems are:
Asthma
Anemia
Diabetes
Color-blindness
Arrhythmia
Scoliosis
Chronic colds
High blood pressure
Easy fatigability
Heart trouble
Sinusitis
Fallen arches
Partial deafness
Stomach ulcers
Pernicious Anemia
Astigmatism
Nervous troubles of any sort
History of; scarlet fever, rheumatic fever
(Jesus Christ Steven)
B) It’d be cute to see Steve actually be able live with his disabilities, unlike in the 30’s. I cannot stress how much eugenics there was back then (and still is now, but WAY more casually acceptable back then). Even the actual Captain America storyline reeks of it a bit; experiment on a disabled man to ‘fix’ him and turn him into a soldier. However in the 21st century imagine if he could get the help he actually needs! Obviously a lot of his stuff is chronic, but he could actually live with it instead of just surviving like he would have done. And be able to afford them, unlike back in the Great Depression. Back braces, inhaler, mobility aids etc. It’d be nice to see a disabled person living with themselves as the HAPPY ending, instead of as a tragedy as it’s usually played.
C) The story of him actually seeing worth in his old (new?) body and himself instead of just a vessel for Captain America. A self-acceptance arc. Being able to retire in peace without anyone recognising him as Captain America without having to give up his life in the 21st century.
D) The Smithsonian exhibit is so closely tailored to his propaganda persona that it fails to acknowledge him as a person. I wouldn’t be surprised if the general public has never even seen a photo of him pre-serum, or knew how bad his illnesses were besides ‘just asthmatic and skinny’. He could easily walk around and not be noticed by anyone.
Tldr: Steve’s proper ending in Endgame should have had him return to his skinny form in exchange for the stone, and him being able to retire to finish art school in peace.

Peter: And she even gave us the same book!
Harley: When she gave it to you, did she say-
Peter and Harley: It's one of a kind, just like you? *groans*
Peter: At least she wrote Peter in mine and Harley in yours
Harley: Yeah, wait. Mine says to Harry!
Ned: Maybe she's dating a third guy named Harry
*Everyone stares at Ned*
Ned: Too soon?
Y/n: Now that we know Liz is a stinking cheater, let's talk about revenge, once again, I offer the butter sock and knife

Summary: Natasha Romanoff sacrificed her life for her daughter. Now living with the Barton’s, y/n asks Clint a difficult question.
Word count: 462
Pairings: Little/kid Reader x Clint Barton / Daughter reader x Natasha Romanoff
Just pure sadness tbh<\3 (lil fluff tho)
Warnings: Death(no details just talk of heaven/afterlife)
————
“Uncle Clint?” Little y/n’s sleepy voice called out to her mamas best friend“Yeah darling?” Clint asked “Did mommy hurt when she left us?” Silence fell upon the pair. Clint had hoped these questions wouldn’t arise until later but although y/n was only 6, she was a smart little girl. She didn’t fully understand death yet, but she knew mommy wasn’t coming home.
“No kiddo, she didn’t hurt” Clint spoke, breaking the silence. The crack of his voice matching those in the walls “What happened when the angels came for her?” The little redhead asked. Clint sighed. He didn’t particularly believe in heaven and hell, nor did Natasha, but he had to provide some comfort to his niece. He didn’t like to lie, but how could this little girl understand that her mommy fell off a cliff on a different planet? Maybe heaven wasn’t that far of a reach.
“Well” Clint cleared his throat “mommy had to lay down, because she was tired, and then she closed her eyes. She got to see all of the beautiful things in her life, so I bet all she saw was you” a small giggle came from y/n “when she opened her eyes again, the angels were there and they told your mommy that she had to go with them” “So she could became and angel too?” Said y/n “Yeah” Clint continued “so they picked her up and carried her to heaven, where they gave her her wings. So she could come back down to see you…as an angel. You know she’s always watching over you, and she’s always with you” “I know she is” y/n spoke, sleep beginning to gather in her voice.
“Do you still see her?” Clint asked “Sometimes” the 6 year old said with eyes half closed “what if I forget about her?” “Oh sweetheart, you’ll never forget mommy, none of us will. We’ll keep talking about her and visiting her in the woods where she rests” Clint glanced over to y/n’s closet “you want mommy’s hoodie tonight?” The little Romanoff nodded. Clint passed the young girl Natasha’s favourite hoodie. A grey zip up one, with a cat sewn on the front to cover the hole Tony had blasted through it while testing his new suit. Y/n instantly latched onto the fabric, bringing the sleeve to her mouth to gently suckle on. She curled right up into it and inhaled what little of Natasha’s scent remained on the piece of clothing. She was immediately soothed and fell asleep moments later. The spitting image of how Natasha used to curl up next to her when she was a baby.
“Sleep tight y/n” Clint whispered. He walked to the window, to draw the curtains. And there he saw it. A shooting star. Natasha. He smiled.
