#Prodigies

Azula, Aang and Toph are all the young prodigies of the show. Imagine them in a modern au being the only prodigies that skipped couple of grades in their high school. The chaos. They have to sit at a lunch table.
Oh yes!
I'm going to throw Katara in too because she also was a prodigy. (How else did she learn waterbending so quickly?)
Toph would be a rebel without a cause who never studies but Aces everything, Katara and Aang calling out the teacher whenever they or the lesson plan is wrong, and Azula's "a pleasure to have in class". But that mask drops when she's at lunch with those three idiots. There would be a lot of banter and trying to one up each other. Except whenever an older kid stupidly tries something against them. Then they become an unstoppable team that makes even the toughest bully cry.
Thankfully Zuko, Sokka, and Suki are there to look after them and smooth things over (or make it worse. It varies.)

Fuck the way media talks about “child prodigies” and “geniuses” especially in fields like music and mathematics.
Like they are gods whose level of understanding we could never reach.
How come we rarely hear about all the people who started young and then fizzled out? How come we never hear the stories of people who started late in life and made a huge difference.
Why do we only hear about their natural aptitude and not the hard work and misteps they took to get there.
For gods sake…
Terry is just a guy!

This book takes place in the town of Weissenfels in Germany in the boarding house that had been the birthplace of a poet named Novalis (had to look him up, interesting person and poet). It’s about the lives of the women that lived there as the nineteenth century moved along.
It was very very dense, definitely not a ‘watch cooking shows while reading’ sort of book. And, it was much more prose poetry instead of straight up prose. It took me a bit to get into the rhythm of it, but, once I did it was a beautiful and definitely interesting piece of fiction.

Idk if this is a spoiler, but at which age did Welling have their awakening?
And speaking of awakenings... do Prodigies have sort of a 'tell' to differentiate their Mark from particularly smart children?
Hello! I don’t think it’s much of a spoiler. It’s a bit different depending on their Mark. G!Welling had theirs around 9 and M!Welling’s was a few years earlier. For Prodigies, I would say it’s the equivalent of having a child that learns and progresses well ahead of their age group and wondering if you have a genius on your hands. Navaarian parents who are unsure if their child is a Prodigy or just extremely gifted will take them to the local temple for a revealing ceremony just like any other parent who believes they may have a Marked child.

When I found out Paramount+ was removing Star Trek: Prodigy I bought all 20 episodes of S1 from Amazon Video since that was the only way for me to watch all 20 at the time. On 6/27, I lost access to episodes 10-20. Amazon has done what they can, which isn't much.
All 20 were accessible when I paid for all 20. The full season is what I was buying. Now, I only have access to 9 of the episodes.
What is the point of buying digital content if they're just going to steal it back from you afterwards?! Is this not false advertisement?

Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition and Festival
(bro the competition was recorded literally in june but kusc is streaming it rn and the episode was from 6 days ago)
Btw I think all of the musicians are really nice, I’m sorry but the music was so good. Like their music really connected to me. They are all really talented and put great time into their work
Seokyoung Hong was like running waters. It moved me to tears; it was amazing. The waves became more intricate and beautiful. I feel like I want my music to be like it. (Btw this dude’s 15 he’s one year older than me) I also want to comment on his voice (I tuned into the radio to hear his voice), ITS AMAZING.
Jan Schulmeister was like a bang to me. It really did portray the beauty of the Cathedral. It was amazing. (This dude is 16) The dude really kept the bass together and it blended nicely with the waves. You can hear it fighting for its life. I feel like the cathedral is fighting and slowly being submerged into the water in the most dramatic and beautiful way imaginable.
Yifan Wu is 14. He kind of sounds like my friend trying to speak mandarin. His little laugh in the recording. He is very poetic tbh. The music is so good! Despite the language barrier, he still connects with the Dallas symphony orchestra. He just brings the music together. It’s so intricate; the trills just add such an amazing addition. The music sounds like falling or being infatuated with something. Something is bringing you down as you gaze into it in awe but lifting you as a out-of-soul experience.

there are so many amazing and powerful benders in atla but what i love about zuko is that whether or not he can use his bending in that moment has zero (0) bearing on how much he’s going to absolutely kick your ass. no bending? that’s fine - he’s got swords. no swords or bending? that’s fine - he’s literally just going to beat you up. if you’re REALLY unlucky then you get all three. as a treat.
