Pastor:  Halleluiah, Christ is risen!
Congregation:  He is risen indeed.  Halleluiah!

The Introit:
Psalm 133
Behold, how good and pleasant it is     when brothers dwell in unity! 2 It is like the precious oil on the head,     running down on the beard, on the beard of Aaron,     running down on the collar of his robes!
3 It is like the dew of Hermon,     which falls on the mountains of Zion! For there the Lord has commanded the blessing,     life forevermore.

The Salutation –                                                                                                                                   Pastor: The Lord be with you.                                                                                                     Congregation: And also with you.

Collect Prayer:
O God, through the sacrifice of Your Son
You raised up the fallen world.
Through His death and resurrection,
He has earned us eternal life.
Grant that on our walk through this life we bear witness to our Saviour;
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.

THE SERMON –
This road we call life is, at times, a difficult one.
We can feel alone, and even be led to despair, over hardship, disappointment, and loss.
The things we face in this world can cloud our vision, especially of the things of God.
We can become blind and forgetful of what God has said to us, and promised.
It was this way with two disciples of Jesus on the afternoon of the first Easter.
They were walking towards a town called Emmaus.
For some Christians, the Easter Gospel could very well begin with the words, “A long time ago in a place far away.”
Or in other words they’ve lost a personal connection to the resurrection.
For them it only has a past and future significance, but no present, every day value.
When life takes a downward turn, as it does from time to time, they don’t feel the presence of their Saviour, but are lost in the griefs of the day.
And they may try to fill this perceived void, what they feel is an absence of God, with a personal ‘works righteousness.’
Not seeing their Lord, not seeing the Gospel, they try to fill the emptiness with the Law of God.
What they say in effect is that while Christ is gone and we’re left to our own devices here’s what you need to do.
And it’s an attempt to fill the empty tomb of Jesus with a false belief that we must be perfect before Christ will reappear to us.
But this is what makes us as a Church, as Biblical Lutheran followers of Christ, different.
Because we not only celebrate a past event – the resurrection.
We don’t just say, ‘Christ is Risen,’ and gone back to heaven, and one day we’ll see Him again.
No, we celebrate the living, triumphant Jesus Christ.
As the Church we celebrate the marriage feast of the Bridegroom who laid down His life for us and in a very real and present way, is with us today: in Spirit, in His Holy Word, and in His Body and Blood in the Lord’s Supper.
Consider the Gospel account in today’s reading.
The two disciples on the road to Emmaus knew the Scriptures.
But they hadn’t really taken them in, they hadn’t truly understood them.
Because they didn’t see Jesus in them from start to finish.
And at first, they don’t see Christ in front of them on that road.
Physical sight alone, is not enough to recognize who Christ is.
Human reason is not sufficient to recognize Jesus as the Risen Saviour.
Christ had directly told the disciples He would die and rise again on the third day.
But until He appeared to them, they didn’t believe.
No, our eyes and ears must be opened by God Himself.
It took God’s only Son, Jesus to reveal His presence.
The hearts of the Emmaus disciples burned with joy as they understood the Scriptures when explained by Christ.
Here is one of many places where Jesus tells us how to interpret the Bible correctly.
Jesus tells us that if you do not see the Bible as God’s Word and see Him throughout it you get lost on the road; you won’t see Christ even when He’s right   in front of you.
As Lutherans we believe that from the very first verses of Moses through to the prophets and all Scripture, God’s Holy Word is about Jesus.
He’s there in the Garden of Eden in God’s promise that a Saviour would come.
He’s present throughout the Old Testament, as well as the New.
It’s all about our Saviour, for us.
When Jesus is the key to scripture the Bible is not a tangled dead-end road.
When Jesus is the key to scripture, we understand God’s Law is a mirror that shows us our sin and a guide for us, but not the means of salvation.
Jesus used the scriptures to reassure the grieving, despairing Emmaus disciples.
They thought they’d been left alone.
But Christ shows them the crucifixion was not the end of the dreams and hopes of His followers.
The cross was part of the plan of redemption, of real freedom for every nation, every human being.
Christ explained that the cross was the instrument of salvation in paying our sin debt.
If there was no crucifixion, there would be no resurrection, for Jesus, or us.
Perhaps one of the best statements on this comes from the end of last week’s Gospel reading, in John, Chapter 20 (verses 30-31), when the Apostle wrote:
“Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, but these things are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.”
But for the Emmaus disciples until Christ took the bread and blessed it, as He did on the night of the Last Supper, that their eyes of faith were opened.
It took Christ Himself to open their eyes and minds, to accept that their living Saviour was there with them.
It’s the same for us.
When He instituted the Lord’s Supper Christ told us, ‘As often as you do this remember me, remember what I’ve said, remember what it means – He gave them the bread and said, “this is my body.”
He gave them the wine and said, “This is my blood shed for You for the remission of sins.”
Remember that in this Sacrament Christ is saying I remain with you, forgiving you.
And so, on this evening of Easter, three days after the crucifixion, the risen Lord
is with His disciples again.
He reveals Himself in the breaking of the bread, then vanished from their sight.
Notice that John doesn’t write Christ was no longer with them, but just that they could no longer see Him.
He was still, truly with them, in Spirit.
He had told them again, how he would remain to be with us.
Brothers and sisters, today, through the eyes of faith, we see Jesus with us again in His Holy Word, and will see Him in His Sacrament as we come to the altar for Communion.
We are not alone.
We have not been left as orphans.
Christ said, ‘lo I am with you always even unto the end of the world.’
This is the joy of Easter.
It’s not only a commemoration, but a true celebration of His resurrection and current presence with us.
In churches that do not honour the Lord’s Supper, they behave as though only moral perfection will earn you a ticket to see Christ again.
In churches that have gone back to the way of the Pharisees in seeing the Law as a way of self-justification they cannot see the risen, and forgiving Saviour with them.
But Christ came to fulfill the Law in a way we can’t, and promises to be with believing Christians, forgiving us, imperfect though we are.
And although the difficulties on the road of life are still there, the end for us isn’t death.
As the Bible says, ‘Death has been swallowed up in victory.’
Jesus is with us not only on Ester Sunday but in every ordinary day, in every pain and sorrow, and whenever we gather together in worship.
Our prayers are not long-distance letters but heard instantly by the ever-present God who loves us and wants to hear from us, wants to reassure, and comfort us.
The Emmaus disciples had been on a long walk when they arrived at their destination and sat down with Jesus.
But when they realized He was with them, they forgot their weariness, they forgot the late hour, and got up and walked back to Jerusalem.
They found the other disciples and told them they’d seen Jesus.
May God grant you the opened eyes and ears of faith to always recognize that Your Saviour is with you.
And may that knowledge, joy, and peace, be with you, now, and forever.
Amen.

FRESH MANNA
UNITED IN BLESSING
Psalm 133:1-3
The popular motto "united we stand, divided we fall," often shortened to "united we stand," is commonly used to express unity and collaboration. The phrase encourages and inspires and sends the message that working together is easier and better because there is strength in numbers, whereas doing things alone is harder and froth with failure.
It is no different in the Christian walk, there is a cooperative blessing for those united in Christ. Fellowship unites us in blessing and vice versa.
Our text tells us there is a blessing in fraternal unity.
The fragrant oil of God is refreshing and delightful to believers. The profusion typifies the abundant and extravagant grace of God. As the dew that falls on Mount Hermon, falls in fertilizing power on Mount Zion, so is unity meant to help believers in fruitful good works.
Ephesians 4:12 implies that blessing has little to do with individual divine favour and protection and more to do with divine communion that fosters unity and intimacy between God and His people, and unity amongst God’s people.
When believers walk together and operate in peace, love, and unity, it reflects the attitude and heart of Christ.
The opening verse says how good and pleasant it is, meaning that God will delight believers who walk in unity and love with everything good, lovely, and attractive. Considering that Jesus’ ultimate prayer is for all men in Him to be “one, united.” I in them and you in me - so that they may be brought to complete unity" according to John 17:22-23.
When we walk in unity, the “united we stand” becomes a lethal weapon in the fight against evil and brings down the rain of blessing we seek.
There is something wonderful about fellowshipping with people of like mind regardless of who they are and where they are from. When we meet them, we feel like we have known them forever and the conversations we have with them are so easy and not forced or uneasy because of the bond of love and unity in Christ.
We live in extreme times and there seems to be disunity, division, and competition in every sector of society, including and especially the church, there seems to be a desperate need for people to outdo each other in everything, even believers are trying to outdo themselves and unbelievers alike in business, ministry, church growth and personal lives.
Believers’ responsibilities to one another should be of the utmost importance, to encourage by love, to do well in all things and not fall by the way, abandoning the communal, cooperative, and united gathering of faithful believers according to Hebrews 10:24-25 and to not only attend spiritual gatherings but to remember that as children of light and day, we cannot be like the children of night and darkness mentioned in 1 John 1:7.
We must understand that the oil running down from Aaron’s face and downwards means our spiritual blessings are interconnected and woven, when one person gets blessed, we all do, there is nothing like individual or lone blessings in God’s kingdom. When we are united, united in blessings, we receive the portion due us in every communal fellowship and gathering.
We are united in blessing.
PRAYER: Bind us together oh Lord with your love, that we continue to be one mind, one voice, one heart knitted and united in Christ Jesus. Amen.
Shalom

Tuesday, Tenth Week in Ordinary Time.
Tuesday, Tenth Week in Ordinary Time
(Liturgical Colour: White: A (1))
(Readings for the feria (Tuesday))
(There is a choice today between the readings for the ferial day (Tuesday) and those for the memorial. The ferial readings are recommended unless pastoral reasons suggest otherwise)
First Reading 2 Corinthians 1:18-22 Jesus was not yes and no, but yes has always been in him.
Brothers and sisters: As God is faithful, our word to you is not “yes” and “no.” For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was proclaimed to you by us, Silvanus and Timothy and me, was not “yes” and “no,” but “yes” has been in him. For however many are the promises of God, their Yes is in him; therefore, the Amen from us also goes through him to God for glory. But the one who gives us security with you in Christ and who anointed us is God; he has also put his seal upon us and given the Spirit in our hearts as a first installment.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 119:129, 130, 131, 132, 133, 135
R/ Lord, let your face shine on me.
Wonderful are your decrees; therefore I observe them.
R/ Lord, let your face shine on me.
The revelation of your words sheds light, gives understanding to the simple.
R/ Lord, let your face shine on me.
I gasp with open mouth in my yearning for your commands.
R/ Lord, let your face shine on me.
Turn to me in pity as you turn to those who love your name.
R/ Lord, let your face shine on me.
Steady my footsteps according to your promise, and let no iniquity rule over me.
R/ Lord, let your face shine on me.
Let your countenance shine upon your servant, and teach me your statutes.
R/ Lord, let your face shine on me.
Gospel Acclamation Matthew 5:16
Alleluia, alleluia. Let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Matthew 5:13-16 You are the light of the world.
Jesus said to his disciples: “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

First Reading Isaiah 61:1-3d The Lord GOD anointed me and sent me to bring good news to the poor.
The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me; He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly, to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives and release to the prisoners, To announce a year of favor from the LORD and a day of vindication by our God, to comfort all who mourn; To place on those who mourn in Zion a diadem instead of ashes, To give them oil of gladness in place of mourning, a glorious mantle instead of a listless spirit.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 89:2-3, 4-5, 21-22, 25 and 27
R/ For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
The favors of the LORD I will sing forever; through all generations my mouth shall proclaim your faithfulness. For you have said, “My kindness is established forever”; in heaven you have confirmed your faithfulness.
R/ For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
“I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant: Forever will I confirm your posterity and establish your throne for all generations.”
R/ For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
“I have found David, my servant; with my holy oil I have anointed him, That my hand may be always with him, and that my arm may make him strong.”
R/ For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
“My faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him, and through my name shall his horn be exalted. He shall say of me, ‘You are my father, my God, the Rock, my savior.’”
R/ For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.

Alleluia, alleluia. The Lord sent me to bring glad tidings to the poor and to proclaim liberty to captives. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Luke 10:1-9 The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few.
The Lord Jesus appointed seventy-two other disciples whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit. He said to them, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves. Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way. Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this household.’ If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you. Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you, for the laborer deserves his payment. Do not move about from one house to another. Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you, cure the sick in it and say to them, ‘The Kingdom of God is at hand for you.’”
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Jonah 1:1-4:11, Revelation 5:1-14, Psalms 133:1-3, Proverbs 29:26-27
Today is the 14th day of the December welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian and it’s great to be here. Welcome back to the Global Campfire. We’re all here. We’re all cozy. We’re all ready to take the next step forward together as we continue to take steps forward toward the end of the year and steps forward in the Bible each and every day to lead us toward the end of the Scriptures for this year. And we are moving our way in the Old Testament through the portion of Scripture known as the minor prophets. These are shorter works of prophetic utterances that are in the Scriptures. So, we’re moving through them rather quickly. Yesterday we talked about Obadiah and then we read the whole thing, all of Obadiah, which happens to be the shortest book in the Old Testament. Today we aren't embarking on the next to shortest book in the Old Testament, but we will read the entire book today, the book of Jonah.
Introduction to the book of Jonah:
Jonah is a super famous story in the Scriptures. Jonah was a prophet. He lived in the northern kingdom of Israel. We’ve talked about this since we started the minor prophets. Just remembering that after Solomon, the kingdoms split into two and there was the northern kingdom of Israel and the southern kingdom of Judah. Jonah was from the northern kingdom of Israel. He lived practically…practically due west of the southern tip of the Sea of Galilee and he lived during the reign of King Jeroboam the second. Jonah is a little bit different than most of the other prophets in the Bible because most of the other prophets in the Bible were instructed to speak to God's people, the children of Israel. This is not who Jonah was sent to speak to. He was instructed to go to the city of Nineveh. And at the time Nineveh was one of the largest cities on the face of the earth. So, this is like any of the largest cities on the earth today, like Mexico City or New York City or Los Angeles or I don't know, London…oh…I don't know all of the major cities in the whole earth. But if we think about the largest cities, at this time Nineveh was one of the largest cities although considerably smaller than the cities that we have of today. It's one of the major cities in the known world. The ruins of Nineveh still exist. They’re located near that of the modern city of Mosul in Iraq and a lot of the ruins of ancient Nineveh have been damaged or destroyed during the time of Isis there. Anyway, Jonah…Jonah did not want the assignment. He did not want to do what God was asking him to do. He did not want to go to a people who were the enemies of Israel and speak to them on behalf of God because if they’re enemies of Israel they’re enemies of God. And, so, rather than obeying God. Jonah went in the opposite direction, literally the opposite direction and went to the Mediterranean coast and got on a ship in Joppa which is basically the coastal suburb of Tel Aviv today. And we probably all generally know what happened to Joan after he got on that ship. He ended up not on the ship, but rather in the belly of a great fish. And after three days of repentance, he was spewed out on the shore alive, which, you know, as Christians we can see the obvious foreshadowing of Jesus in the story. And Jesus even talks about the sign of Jonah being the only sign that this generation will receive when He was walking upon the earth doing his ministry. But Jonah doesn't just parallel Jesus or foreshadow Jesus. It parallels our own lives. When we hear instructed to do something and we don't want to do or we let pride or our fear of obeying get in the way and we find ourselves in disobedience or rebellion then basically we can't do anything but find ourselves on the run from God, which is incredibly foolish maybe…maybe stupid isn't even…even too strong of a word. It's a really foolish thing to do because it's not possible. And, so, Jonah had a lot more difficult time of things than he needed to have. Even though he ultimately obeyed, he was swallowed in the open sea by a fish. Ironically, like we look at the fish and go like holy moly what will…that is…that must've been miserable. And certainly it must've been miserable. But the alternative was that Jonah would've been dead. And, so, the fish that came along actually became Jonah's salvation. God used the fish as a vehicle to get Jonah back on track and save his life. And when we find that we are running from God and we know it, it can very much feel like life is swallowing us alive. But in the end as things are made right again, we may find that the very things that we felt like were swallowing us actually were transportation. They were moving us back onto the right path and ultimately to firm footing again where we can start over and be obedient. And, so that let's begin and conclude. There are four chapters in the book of Jonah. We will read the entire book of Jonah today.
Commentary:
Okay. So, we have moved to the book of Jonah in its entirety today and we already kinda talked about it. I just want to point out that it's not really until the end that we begin to understand why Jonah didn't want to obey God in the first place. And so much of it is very, very focused on Jonah and his own self-image and perhaps even his place in his culture in his region where he lives among the people. Nineveh was the enemy. God was telling Jonah to go to the enemy and invite them to repent before the Lord God. Jonah, being a prophet would have preferred to prophesy anywhere but Nineveh. He would prefer to prophesy the destruction of Nineveh to his own people. Instead, God is telling them to go to the enemy and invite them to repent. How would he look if he did that? How’s he gonna explain, yeah I went all the way to Nineveh. And by the way that's not like a walk across town. Like, we read from Jonah that to walk across Nineveh would take three days. For Jonah to obey God and actually go to Nineveh was hundreds and hundreds of miles with no airplanes and no like combustible engines to get anywhere, a very very committed journey. And, so, he's going to go there and proclaim the word of the Lord and tell the people to repent and then come back? And how’s that gonna go over? Yes, I went to the enemies of our nation, the enemies of God and told him to repent. And, so, Jonah goes in the other direction. He's trying to get away from this mission. And we know the story. He ends up in the belly of a fish. He ends up on dry ground again. He ends up going to Nineveh and obeying God. He walks a day into the city and proclaims the word of the Lord, that they should repent or meet complete destruction. And their response is to humble themselves before the Lord God and repent. This makes Jonah exceedingly angry, right, according to the scripture. Like he is furious about this. And that's when he tells the Lord, this is why I didn't obey you. This is why I didn't come here. These are our enemies and you’ve told me to come here and tell them to repent and I knew that you are kind and merciful, or just to quote it from Jonah, “for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and relenting from disaster.” So, Jonah’s basically saying, I knew this would happen. I knew this is what you were going to do. This is why I did not want to come here. I want to die. My life isn't worth living anymore. It's such a weird response unless we think well why? Like, what's the big deal? God did something very, very kind and gracious. He reached out mercifully and gave people an opportunity to turn from their wicked ways so that they wouldn't be destroyed. Now Jonah will have to go home and say I went to Nineveh at the instruction of the Lord and the Lord told them to repent and they repented. Our enemies whom we want to destroy if we can, they repented. God was merciful to them. Jonah is set up for ridicule completely. But it's not just that he's set up to look bad, his heart is not for what God wanted, which is the repentance of everybody. Jonah didn't want those people to be spared. He wanted them to be destroyed. And that's where it can get so personal for us. We can be merciless toward people that do not think about things the same way that we do or that do not share our political convictions or who do not share our theology on certain subjects or who cut us off in the road or who did anything to displease us. We can get merciless. If we felt like God was sending us to people that we wanted God to destroy and that we've done our part and bad mouthing or posting or whatever and we felt God saying, no, I want you to go to them. I want you to go to them on my behalf. This could feel a little bit like the story of Esther and not for such a time as this. This could feel like the king telling Haman to go and put the Kings robe upon Mordechai and put him on the king's mule and march him through the city and declare this is how the king wants to honor his loyal servant. We can find ourselves doing everything we can to stay away from that situation or if we try to obey, we’re going with our nose…we’re like plugging our nose. We don't want to do this because God might be merciful, and we might look stupid. So, it's kind of important for us to remember that just because we hate somebody doesn't mean God does. Just because we don't want to tolerate somebody or their disgusting to us or their deceived according to us, God loves them. God loves them as much as He loves you and I. And, so, Jonah really does in fact bring out much for us to consider about our own lives.
Prayer:
Father, that's where we are. That's what we’re doing. We’re considering. And once again, as we do every day, thank You for Your word. It brings these things up in our lives for us to consider. And Holy Spirit, come. We’re guilty of all of this. We’re guilty of all the things we find in the Bible, but shame and condemnation isn’t the point. Repentance and change is the point, an invitation to put these broken pieces back together in our lives so that we can begin to look at the world and its people like You do. So, come Holy Spirit. Show us the places where we have just been merciless toward people even wishing for their destruction in some sort of way, their hardship in some sort of way, so that they can get what they deserve. That isn’t for us to decide. It is our job to obey You and part of obeying You is loving what You love, and You love what You have created. You don't love all of the things that we've invented to destroy ourselves and to separate ourselves from You but You love us. May we love one another. We pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Community Prayer and Praise:
Hey, DABbers it's Valiant Val here in Vegas. I just heard our guy, People on the Water. Man, we love when you call in. You're so beautiful and so young. He's only 19 and he’s been in college for a couple months and he's quitting college. And, you know, what People on the Water? That's OK. Good. Hashtag good. You know it definitely sounds like you know what you need to do, you know, that at 19 you don't have to have it figured out because maybe…who…I'm far beyond that and I've yet to figure it out. And you know what People on the Water I don't think we fully figure it out because it's God's way and He never gives us all the answers to the playbook. He kind of gives us the plays and we just have to run those plays just bit by bit. That's the way this life is, little by little. So, I'm asking you to give yourself a break and a pat on the back and for all young people and teenagers, young adults that are calling in. You all put so much pressure on yourself. Stop it. God continuously gives us assignments in life, and He never gives us all the answers at once. He gives us the ability to see to the end of the road. He sees around the corner and down the street. He sees the end before the beginning. So, Lord God I come to You right now for People on the Water and Young people Lord in general. Allow them to give them results a break Father. God thank You for the assignments that You give us throughout this life, for the very dissidents and even the new ones that we're all on right now. God we just need to have hope and faith in You and things will work out and be fine. People on the Water, one of the things that I do, and I can't seem to figure it out is go serve, go volunteer, go be of help to someone else. It gets you off…
Hello Deb family this is pastor Steve from southwest Ohio just calling to say that you are greatly…all greatly loved and prayed for without ceasing. I know there are several people who’ve called that are very disheartened and sad and down. Well, His word tells us that we are to look up and be glad and be thankful for every rich blessing we receive. And they are many. I'm thankful for you all within this family and I praise God for the ministry that it provides especially for me every day. Just know again that you are all greatly loved and prayed for, and this is for everyone. So heavenly Father in the name of Jesus and by the power of Your Holy Spirit we ask that You would touch every heart out there that have called and that will call and help them with whatever need they have and we’ll give you praise for doing that in Jesus’ name. Everyone take care. God bless.
Hey Daily Audio Bible it's Winter from Texas and I just listened to December 6th and 7th back-to-back and I heard People on the Waters dad call in and People on the Waters himself call in and let me just tell you I understand the struggle of wanting to quit college. I've…I am in a profession that's not really right for me I think, and I've thought every day about quitting because I don't really need the degree to do my field. It's just helpful in the future, you know? But you've got to trust God. I know you've heard like you've got to trust God and you gotta turn to God and all that. What I mean is if you went home and you were hungry and there was food in the fridge you would probably eat it. If…if you’re in a bad space and you go home to God and you're hungry He's willing to feed you. You need to be fed because you can't just continue being hungry right? God will take care of you. He's taking care of the fields, the birds. He's taking care of me with almost seemingly meaningful things. On days when I wanted to cry, He's given me parking spots, He's given me green lights. He's given me just somebody who's there for me and who will talk with me. Like, God cares about you. And even though it seems just dire and bleak right now you've got to trust that He's gonna be there for you. OK? You're not alone. He will always be there for you. Just go home and eat. OK?
Hello DAB my name is Rachel and I'm calling from Pennsylvania it's my first time calling, first year listening to the DAB. I wanted to call and lift up in prayer Jasmine from New York who called in on November 22nd about having issues with procrastination with God and with her schoolwork and anxiety and low self-esteem. Lord I place her before you and I pray that you would have your way in her life, that you would increase her faith and strengthen her from the inside out Lord and that you would see her heart and know that she wants to serve you despite things that are coming up. She called in because she knows she needs more of you Lord. So, I pray that you would honor her for that and that she would be lifted up. I also pray that she would be surrounded, that people would come into her path that would guide her spiritually and help her to move forward in this journey Lord whatever that may be. And I…I pray over anybody else who's struggling with anxiety and depression and just feeling unworthy because you don't condemn us. You correct us but you don't condemn us. Your word says that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. So, any felling of condemnation and lack of self-worth, that's not God. That's the enemy. He's the accuser of the brethren. So, I rebuke that fear spirit of accusation, that spirit of condemnation that is plaguing our people particularly around this holiday season where it's just depression is running rampant. God, I rebuke that in Jesus’ name. Let your people be lifted up because you did not give us a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind. So, I pray Lord, that you would give a sound mind unto your people, that they would be lifted up and know that you love them and that they are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. Amen.
Morning everyone it's Susan from Canada God's Yellow Flower calling, and I have a praise report today. As most of you know I've been looking after my son who is now 44. And when he was 39 he was diagnosed with stage four cancer. And heavens above there was no treatment for this cancer so he was put on a trial with 19 others and he's the only one who is still in remission. We just got the report today. All the others have not done well but Keith. And I just give praise to God. The scientific part of the…of this miracle is baffling to the doctors. Keith's case is being studied all around the world and nobody can understand it except my DAB family and my prayer warrior friends. I don't know why God chooses to bless someone and not others. And know that I'm praying, continuing in prayer for all your loved ones and you yourselves who are suffering from this horrible disease. It's so difficult. Keiths life is…like he only has half a lung working because his cancer’s spread to his lungs. And he needed treatments and it's burned out his lungs. So, he's on oxygen all the time and really can't do a lot. But he's with us still. He's such a gracious and grateful young man. Thank you for your prayers and continue on please.
Hi DAB family this is Rock Ann in Georgia, and I was just calling today. I've been sick and out of Commission a little bit I was just calling today to tell you wow Brian I'm so excited that you're gonna even dive a little deeper into the Book of Revelation. Maybe not every day but at the end of the prayer time. What a great way to end up the year. Thank you so much for that. This podcast and this program is so life giving and so wonderful. And I just want to thank you so much for it. You're an amazing teacher and guide and God is using you greatly in the lives of so many people. And I just want to say thank you so much to you, to the DAB family and to all of those who pray and intercede and get involved and our so intentional about investing in the lives of the people here. I just love this program so much and love you all and pray for you so often. And thank you again until next time.

Psalm 23 Lesson 05: Tables and Anointing Oil
Psalm 23:4 is one of the most well-known Bible verses in the world.  Even non-Christians are familiar with the first phrase “though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.”  However, not many people know Psalm 23:5.  Today, we will study this verse together.
Let’s read together Psalm 23:5
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.”
What does the phrase “you prepare a table before me” mean?
Let’s read together Exodus 24:1-11; Psalm 78:18-20; Isaiah 21:4-5; Hebrews 9:2; and Revelation 3:20.
Some Bibles translate this phrase as “you prepare a meal before me” or “you prepare a feast before me.”  This phrase is also evocative of the sanctuary in the time of Moses.  We can also consider this phrase in terms of having a covenant meal.  We know David was literally on the run from his enemies, but he was blessed by God during those difficult times in the wilderness.
What about the phrase “you anoint my head with oil”?
Let’s read together Exodus 29:7; Exodus 30:25-31; Numbers 35:25; 1 Samuel 10:1; 1 Samuel 16:1-13; Psalm 133:2; John 12:3; and Hebrews 1:9.
This phrase also seems to be sanctuary language.  The high priest was anointed with oil.  In another sense, anointing oil was used to consecrate someone to a higher calling.  The prophet Samuel anointing Saul and David to be kings of Israel.  Jesus also received an anointing of sorts before His crucifixion.
While these interpretations of Psalm 23:5 are valid, let’s not forget the original context of this psalm.  It was in relation of a sheep to its shepherd.
Let’s read together John 10:1-16; Luke 11:13; Romans 8:1-2; Hebrews 13:5.
Shepherds have to find good and safe places for their flocks to feed.  Tablelands are elevated plateaus which are considered ideal feeding grounds in the summer.  Oftentimes, a shepherd will scout out these areas in advance, pull out weeds that can make the sheep sick, and note areas of potential danger.
Once the flock arrive in the tablelands and are grazing, the shepherd must keep watch for “enemies” of the sheep.  These enemies would include predators such as mountain lions, coyotes, wolves, or even bears.
What about anointing a sheep’s head with oil?  Why would a shepherd do that?
Let’s read together Exodus 12:5; Leviticus 1:10; Mark 6:13; James 5:14; and 1 Peter 1:19.
Sheep can be attacked by flies that may try to lay eggs in their nasal mucus membranes.  An afflicted sheep may behave erratically, thrashing about and smashing its head against rocks or trees.  Such a sheep may spook the flock, causing them to all run off.
Sheep scab is a contagious parasitic disease caused by mites.  Sheep scab can cause wool loss.  Sheep may have a poor skin condition, including irritated red skin or lesions.
Untreated sheep may go blind or even die.  A flock may be decimated if a shepherd does not act quickly.
In ancient times, shepherds used an oil mixture to treat afflicted sheep.  A shepherd may have to dip the sheep completely to coat its body.  A shepherd would have to treat the sheep’s head by hand, liberally and gently applying the oil.
Jesus, as our good shepherd, knows how to keep us safe in the presence of spiritual predators and forces that would seek to harm us.  He leads us to study His Word, the Bible (John 6:35).  He anoints us with the Holy Spirit (John 14:26) to empower us to stay strong and not to succumb to harmful worldly influences.
Psalm 23:5 is a promise Jesus will provide for us and keep us spiritually healthy, despite Satan’s attempts to destroy us.
Friend, will you allow Jesus to prepare a table for you and to anoint you?

The Law of the Lord Is Perfect
1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. 2 Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. 4 Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, 5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. 6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8 the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9 the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. 11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
12 Who can discern his errors? Declare me innocent from hidden faults. 13 Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. — Psalm 19 | English Standard Version (ESV) The Holy Bible, English Standard Version. Psalm 133:1-3
How good and pleasant it is
when God’s people live together in unity!
It is like precious oil poured on the head,
running down on the beard,
running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe.
It is as if the dew of Hermon
were falling on Mount Zion.
For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore.

How very good and pleasant it is when kindred live together in unity!...It is like the dew of Hermon, which falls on the mountains of Zion. For there the LORD ordained his blessing, life forevermore. ~Psalm 133:1, 3

GODLY DIRECTION!
GODLY DIRECTION
Psalm 119:133

Except God gives direction, we would fail in everything we do. As believers, we cannot afford to go every which way, we should not be content to be led by the flesh but by the spirit of God according to Romans 8:4.
Godly direction is simply to be led by God’s will and word through His spirit in the expression of revelations.
Jeremiah 33:3, says we receive Godly direction to those great and mighty things that we otherwise wouldn't know about if we don't call on God.
We would all naturally like to know what to do all the time, especially when we’re confused about life's delicate issues but not if we look to the Lord. God made us for a purpose, he knows the best route to get us where He needs us to be, He knows the best time for us to get there and the best form of transport, all according to His purpose and leading.
Accessing Godly direction comes with a price, the price of total submission to God. We must have a Kingdom mentality and serve God in His way and on His terms according to Matthew 6:24. We must continue daily in God's presence and be subject to His Spirit according to Galatians 5:25 to recognise, acknowledge, and receive divine and Godly direction.
The life of a believer is expressed from the inward to the outward, we receive in the spirit that which we express outwardly.
Total obedience is important to following Godly direction, and we must understand the principles of obedience as God intended it.
Our best sources for direction in life is the word of God as stated Psalm 25:1-22, stating that God leads the humble in what is right, teaching them his way.
following Jesus involves taking a completely new direction in life. After finding Jesus and worshiping him, the magi were warned by God not to return through Jerusalem as they had intended in Matthew 2:12. Finding Jesus may mean that your life must take a different direction, one that is responsive and obedient to God’s Word. But are you willing to be led a different way?
Disobedience is a rejection of God’s word as seen in 1 Samuel 15:20-24 where God gave Saul divine direction on what to do regarding the spoils of war but rather than follow God’s directions, he chose to disobey divine instructions. Obedience is following God’s word personally without compulsion.
Obedience is a major key to Kingdom mentality, and therefore, comes with a price.
We often ask the Lord for direction but when he gives us instruction, we choose to go the opposite way, maybe because we think the instructions are too difficult to obey but according to 1 John 5:3, the Lord’s commands, that is His divine directions are not burdensome.
Saul said he had obeyed all of God’s instructions when he had rebelled against it by doing what he thought was best. That's what a lot of us do, we ask God for direction, but we end up doing what we think is best.
The Lord says He would instruct and teach us the way we should go, meaning that not only will He give us the instruction, but He will also teach us how to obey and follow the instructions divinely to achieve godly goals.
As believers, we must be sensitive to the Lords leading and instructions because divine direction hinges on those who walk by trust and faith in God and not after their understanding according to Proverbs 3:5-6.
Stubbornness or rebellion is not a good place for accessing divine direction. They say a stubborn dog or horse that refuses to obey and follow the master’s whistle and guidance is headed for destruction.
The Lord knows the destination and the terrain, so allowing Him to lead is putting ourselves in the hands of the only one who is sure-footed to carry us all the way.
Allow your faith to support your walk, in accessing the direction the Lord planned for you.
PRAYER:  Father, I invite you into every area of my life, lead and direct me for your purpose in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Shalom
