Turns out my kitten likes shiny things a lot
Enough so that today it found a quarter and picked it up in its mouth and carried it over...I didin't know a cat could or would do that. I took the quarter from it so it wouldn't you know, swallow a quarter but huh that probably was hard to put it lightly.
poor thing's got that wobbly cat syndrome yet here it comes, bringing me a quarter of all things- I 'd be hard pressed to imagine a more coordinated cat picking up a quarter but evidently, easier than it looks. That or she just really, really wanted that quarter...
evidently i'll have to warn my roomates that there is a tiny cat burglar in our home.

Sooo... @aloha-from-angel
I found this quarter made in 2023 that had a Hawaiian woman, a river and a mountain on it. It also had the name of the woman, Edith Kanaka‘ole and the words "E hō mai ka ’ike". I thought that was interesting but since I don't know much about Hawaiian history I was wondering if you could inform me on what the words mean and who the woman is. Of course if you don't know or don't want to you don't have to. This is what the quarter looks like (sorry for the bad quality):

In the last few months I've noticed a significant increase in the number of circulating quarters from 1965 and 1966. I recieve 65 or 66 quarter in my change at least once a week, sometimes more, and I haven't noticed any other spiking years besides the most recent ones; 2023, 2022, 2021, etc. It must have something to do with the fact that quarters from 1964 and earlier have silver in them and are worth more. Someone (probably a lot of someones) collected a ton of quarters from the 60s under the mistaken belief that the silver cutoff date was later than 1964, and when they learned the truth they realized their collection was worthless and started spending them all.
Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just a Florida thing?
