Ingredients (serves 2):
1 cup small, ripe Garden Strawberries 
1/4 teaspoon Piment d'Espelette or ground chilli
1 heaped teaspoon pure raw Manuka Honey
1/2 tablespoon Modena Balsamic Vinegar
Thoroughly rinse Strawberries under cold water. Drain them well in a colander; set aside.
In serving bowl, combine Piment d'Espelette and Manuka Honey, stirring well until blended. Gradually stir in Balsamic Vinegar until well-combined.
Halve Strawberries, and add to the bowl, tossing well to coat in sauce. Chill in the refrigerator, at least an hour.

LATE WINTER BUTTER ROLLS
My first post I ever made. I was pretty new to the tumblr community at the time. I loved kitchen witchcraft, and I'm the type of person who will ramble on about how much I love cooking and baking. This blog gave me an outlet to express my love of cooking, baking, paganism, and witcraft. And these rolls are very tasty, I make them to this day!

WHAT THEY SMELL LIKE.  Comforting would be the most appropriate word. He's all deep earth, fragrant, freshly lit incense, the salt of a crashing sea, and the bright peel of citrus. Cường, humbling and deep both, smells like his long hours at work, his indulgent walks in the wilds, and sneaky breaks eating fruit by the shore.
HOW THEY SLEEP. SLEEPING POSITION. SCHEDULE. ETC… Despite the phantoms roaring in his head? Very well, to be honest. Cường works absurdly long hours, often up from 7 to 7, and surrenders to sleep as soon as he's in bed. Maybe 9. Or 10, give or take. He sleeps on his side in his thin, oversized shirt and shorts. Drugged to keep his pain at bay or very simply overworked, Cường never has problem finding dream.
WHAT MUSIC THEY ENJOY. Not much music, honestly. He's more a man to listen to the chatter around him, but sometimes, he'll pass the hours with a soft indie playlist in the background, a good dose of them in an older, romantic style. Think of Mong Manh Tình Về (Phạm Thiên Trang) or Rain Drop (Standing Egg ft. Yeseul).
HOW MUCH TIME THEY SPEND GETTING READY EACH MORNING. No time at all. He's the epitome of that one man who'll wake up, take a quick shower, and is ready for his day looking charming still. To think it takes all of thirty minutes before he's out the door? It's criminal, honestly. Borderline annoying.
FAVORITE THING TO COLLECT. Flowers. Obscure little dessert and dinner recipes. Memories to bottle up in a candle for later, scents of the cherished hour or the perfume on their skin. Obviously, he's very much a man of mementos whether he says so or not.
LEFT OR RIGHT HANDED. Right-handed.
FAVORITE SPORT(S). Cường is by no means a sporty guy, but twist his arm and make him talk, and he's likely to say soccer.
FAVORITE TOURISTY THING TO DO WHEN TRAVELING. Eating. He loves food, loves cooking, and enjoys trying out local cuisine in little hole in wall restuarants, or walking about the bustling food markets.
FAVORITE KIND OF WEATHER. A mild, dry summer. He lives in Vietnam, though, so any reprieve from the muggy and blistering heat is always welcome.
WEIRD / OBSCURE FEAR THEY HAVE. Nothing. Cường is very oddly, very mind bogglingly afraid of nothing. Perpetually in a state of 'let life come as it may', nothing can spring on him that he hasn't prepared for.
THE CARNIVAL / ARCADE GAME THEY ALWAYS WIN WITHOUT FAIL. Haggling the attendant to let him play for fewer tickets or cash or something. Probably.

Hwachae
Quick and Easy Korean Dessert
Hwachae is a must when it's hot and you want a sweet summer dessert. A traditional Korean punch made with in-season fruits and flower petals such as watermelons in honey water or juice, it's ideal for sipping in the sun.

Hwachae refers to traditional Korean punches made from various fruits or edible flower petals. Honeyed water or honeyed magnolia berry juice is used to soak the fruits and flowers. Carbonated drinks and/or fruit juices are also commonly added to hwachae in modern South Korea. Before serving, hwachae is frequently garnished with pine nuts.
This Korean watermelon punch is one of my favorite childhood summer memories. When my sisters and I walked a full mile home from school in the hot and humid Korean summer weather, my mother would make this punch and serve it to us.
Oh, it was delicious! With this watermelon punch, life as a small Korean child was a blessing and a privilege. I recall always having a second bowl.
My mother's watermelon punch was made simply with a lemon-lime carbonated drink and honey. This type of simple Korean drink recipe appeals to me. She occasionally mixed in some melon with the watermelon.
Whatever you put in the punch, as long as there's watermelon in it, it'll be just as good. Showering before serving is optional (but usually a good idea)!
There are probably hundreds of different types of Hwachae, with many different fruits and juices used to create lovely sweet snacks; when I was younger, my grandmother used Fanta because it was less expensive than juice. In today's health-conscious society, I believe that would be frowned upon.
My recipe contains a lot of fruit and orange juice, so it's similar to a fruit salad. Most fruits can be used, and I enjoy changing the fruits depending on the season.
The following ingredients were used:
1/2 an apple Clementine No. 1 Grapes (7-8) 5 to 6 strawberries 2 tbsp watermelon orange juice Water Ice
Begin by cutting the fruits into bite-sized pieces; with the watermelon, try to save the juices as they can be used later. Combine the juice and water in a 50:50 ratio and pour into a bowl with the fruits and some ice.
Spoon it into bowls and serve; it's that easy, quick, and delicious!
Put some honey or sugar in some water and leave it in the fridge to dissolve and make the water cold and sweet, then add your fruits and enjoy.
Replace the water or juice with carbonated water or a tropical drink like Lilt, Sprite, or Fanta if you want a fizzy punch.
Hwachae Watermelon
This is a delicacy that looks great on a table and will certainly impress your guests; however, it is fairly simple to make with a little planning.
Cut a whole watermelon in half, or just buy a half one. Remove all of the melon and place it in a container to freeze; it should be chunky and in several small pieces.
Using a small knife, cut triangles out of the watermelon as shown above, working your way around the melon. They don't have to be perfect or the same size because no one will notice once finished. Put the watermelon in a bag and place it in the fridge if you want to eat it that day or in the freezer to save for later.

humming to the birthday tune, jaehwa skips into the kitchen, her heart full of anticipation. this is her first birthday as an idol and she gets to have her own cafe event. she ties the apron behind her back, her hair pulled back into a neat bun. the camera starts shortly after everyone arrives and is ready to film. 
“hi, this is crystallis’ jasmine and today i’ll be making something delicious for everyone that is coming down to my birthday event! even though i will not be present, i do hope you can fill my love when eating these desserts.” in front of her are the ingredients for her drink - coconut slices, sugar and fresh strawberries. since this is for her birthday, jaehwa thought she could make something that she loves and share it with her fans. strawberries are her favorite, especially during spring when the fruit is in season. hence, she decides to incorporate them into her recipe. 
“we’ll first blend the coconut slices and hot water into a blender.” as the barista speaks, jaehwa follows closely, pouring the bowl of coconut slices into the blender. she is aware that the staff is meant to help her but the vocalist requests she does it herself unless she messes up. after pouring in the hot water, the blender starts working its magic. “while waiting, we can cut a few strawberries to make a puree.” the process was quick and after half an hour, the drink is ready. 
moving on to the dessert, a tray of ingredients is pushed toward her. cupcake mixture, whipped cream, salted caramel fillings and macaron shells. despite the small chaos that happened in the middle of filming, the dessert came out better than expected. “with the help from the baker and barista, i’m finally done!” the completed dishes are presented in front of her. “earlier i made a mistake and poured in too much mixture and the dough became flaky. but i managed to complete my cupcake in time thanks to them.” jaehwa explains to the camera before turning to bow apologetically to the staff. 
“over here, we have a strawberry summer. it was supposedly strawberry milk which i’m sure we’re all familiar with since most cafes are selling this in summer right now. but i want to give it a little twist. instead of regular milk, i have switched to coconut milk so all our vegan friends are able to enjoy it too!”  she quickly moves on to the next dessert, knowing time is ticking and she has another schedule coming up. “and here we have a caramel fiesta for all you salted caramel lovers out there. it is a cupcake with caramel fillings. sitting right on top is a brown macaron will salted caramel cream.” if there is one word to describe jaehwa’s menu, it would be diabetes. she is known for her sweet tooth and today, she is happy to share the sweetness with her fans.
“they look appetizing right now, i’m not going to lie.” she laughs before noticing her manager shaking her head behind the camera. “well, i hope you love these as much as i have enjoyed making them. let me know if you gave them a try!”

Ingredients (serves 1):
1/2 ripe medium cantaloupe
half a dozen fresh mint leaves
2 tablespoons Limoncello
Remove seeds from the cantaloupe halve. Using an apple corer, scoop out the cantaloupe flesh into small balls, into a medium bowl. 
Roll mint leaves together and finely chop them. 
Add chopped mint to the bowl, and drizzle generously with Limoncello. Toss gently, to combine and coat cantaloupe balls in mint and Limoncello. 
Chill in the refrigerator, at least a couple of hours, but preferably four.
Serve Mint and Limoncello Cantaloupe Salad well-chilled.
