2 weeks later

“She’s nice Leon, don’t take things out on her. She’s worth something, trust me” Claire shares her feelings with Leon. “She makes breakfast and dinner for me” he says a bit uncomfortable. “I know, do you eat it?” The brunette asks softly. “Uhm, yeah mostly. Not because i want to, but i feel bad if i don’t.” He says in a bit of a small voice. “You’re doing good Leon i’m proud of you. have to go i’m sorry, i will text you, love you” Claire says with a smile on the other line. “Love you too C, say hi to Sherry for me” he says and hangs up.

He makes his way to the kitchen where he sees a nice sandwich on a plate with a small note next to it. ‘Morning :)’ he reads. He’s a bit overwhelmed every time you offer him things and try to help. He’s scared of fucking it up.

Leon only has 2 classes today and they’re both easy ones. He isn’t paying a lot of attention, he’s trying to figure out how to be friends with someone.

“Claire i’m really scared of fucking this up i don’t know how to do this” the blonde texts while on the toilet between his 2 classes. “Relax, if it keeps bothering you then you go talk to her.” they have a lot of contact, sometimes Claire wishes she had a bit less weight on her shoulders, but she knows he needs her. For now. “Okay” he just sends the text and goes back to class.

“Leon i got-“ you start as you walk into the dorm after classes and see Leon sitting on the small couch looking a bit out of it. “You good?” You ask and put a some books down. “Hm? Yeah don’t worry” he stand up and walks to his room.

You are a bit confused but try to let it go, maybe he had a bad day. You start making some pasta for dinner, grabbing 2 plates and filling both. You put a bit less on Leon his plate, in the 3 weeks you’ve lived together you notice that he eats less if his days are bad.

Knock knock

“Yeah?” I sigh comes from Leons room. I open the door and he’s behind his laptop doing some homework again. “I got you some pasta” you say softly and lean against his desk after you put it down. “I’m not really hungry, but thanks” he says and just looks at the pasta. “Okay, if there’s anything you can let me know” you say and walk out. Leon just looks back at his screen and continues doing his homework.

You turn on the tv and eat dinner on the couch, after you do some dishes and wanna grab Leons plate. He doesn’t answer after a few knocks so you slowly open the door and see Leon at his desk passed out on his notes. You softly try to wake him by shaking him a bit. “Leon?” You say softly as he stirs and groans. He slowly sits back up and clears his throat. He ate a few bites of his pasta that’s now cold. “Come on, let’s go to bed” you say and help him to bed while he’s still tired. “Everything okay?” You ask again just to be sure, i mean you care after all. “Yeah” the blonde boy sighs and tugs the blankets over him. It’s a good thing he always wears pjs when he’s in the dorm. “Thank you” he says before dosing off. You see Claire is calling his phone that’s on his desk. You decide to pick it up outside his room.

“Hi Claire, it’s Leon’s roommate” you speak softly, trying not to wake the blonde. “Yeah hi! Everything okay with Leon? We usually call around this time” she speaks with a small bit of concern. “Yeah he’s alright, i mean i hope so. I think he’s just had a bit of a bad day” you say while closing his door almost fully. “Why did you pick up?” Claire asks curiously. “Oh right, he fell asleep on his desk so i just got him to bed. Barely ate his dinner either” you reply with a bit of a frown on your face. “Hm, yeah it’s been hard for him. I can’t tell you too much, that’s his thing.” There is a brief pause before she continues. “Leon doesn’t really have energy to make food or eat it sometimes, so thanks for making food for him.” the brunette on the other line sighs a bit. “It’s not a big deal, i don’t really know him but i’m sure he’s a good person.” You say softly. “He is, i promise” Claire speaks with a bit of delay. “Goodnight” you say and hang up hesitantly. You put the phone back on the desk and decide to go to bed too.

The night is weird, you think a lot and barely sleep. You wish you could somehow help Leon, maybe let him talk to you? But you know he won’t just tell you things. I mean why would he? The only time that you guys talk is in the morning or when you make dinner. Which is usually you talking, Leon just says things like : “oh yeah” “thanks” “dinner was good thank you” but more than that? No not really. You’ve seen Leon outside the dorms a couple of times in the last few weeks. You notice he’s always alone, always with his headphones on.

You wanna get closer with him, i mean you really don’t have any friends here. Although there is someone in some of your classes, Jill who’s really nice. But that’s more a classmate than friend.

3 am, you wake up from half an hour of sleep, which is more a nap. You walk to the kitchen and see Leon sitting on a counter with some water and his phone. He sees you and looks up before getting off the counter. “Oh, sorry didn’t mean to wake you” He says in a groggy voice. “You didn’t, can’t sleep for shit” you sigh and run a hand through your hair. “Why not?” He asks. He shows interest, and it’s a bit strange to you. “Oh nothing too bad, just thoughts” you say and fiddle with your hands a bit. “Yeah i get that” he replies with a small sigh. “What’s up with your hair?” You notice his hair has been getting long and has some big nots in it. “Oh.. yeah i never have time to brush it” he lies, it’s not healthy but you know that. You don’t judge, he can tell you stuff when he’s ready.

“Stay here” you say and rush off to your room to get a special detangle brush. “Sit” you point to the couch and he slowly walks over. “You don’t have to brush my hair” he says and doesn’t sit down yet. “Leon just sit down okay?” you tell him and he obeys. You slowly and softly brush his hair at 3 in the morning on the couch. It takes a while and you guys talk about random stuff.

“Did you have any pets at home?” You ask as you brush a part of his hair. “Uhm, i had a Dog at my parents. She was a border collie her name was Phoebe, but she died when i was 15. She was old” Leon tells her pretty comfortably. “At Claire’s place we have 2 cats Lilo and Stitch, they’re black and white cats.” He chuckles a bit. “Awww that’s adorable! I have a cat her name is Reggie, we thought she was a boy when we got her” i smile and keep brushing his hair. He relaxes a bit more. “So do you live with Claire?” You ask softly and start on another part of his hair. “Uhm yeah” he says a bit uncomfortable and you notice. “That’s nice, she really cares about you i can tell” you smile and don’t ask anything else.

After a long while you finish and his hair is smooth again. “Okay now flip your hair” you say and he shakes his head up and down. His hair looks nice, but a cut would be needed. “We can go to a hair dresser some time, if you want to of course” you offer and stand up from the couch. “Maybe, thank you. I’m gonna go to bed now” Leon says and goes to his room.

He’s a good person.
