this took me forever to get around to. but! the Lycium-Belladonna family tree!

for context:

Belladonna is the last name Blake chose for herself when she applied for Beacon Academy. Lycium is the name Ghira chose for his political figure name, therefore making it the unofficial family name

all three daughters were adopted by Ghira (and Kalli after they got married)

Rita is a fox faunus with a fluffy fox tail

Ivory is an elephant faunus with tusks

Was Blake adopted before or after the Belladonnas found Rita and Ivory? Are they younger than her?

Before!

Rita and Ivory were adopted a few years after Blake, but before she ran away to stay with the White Fang around age 15.

So Rita is probably going to be about 12 years old (adopted when she was 4ish), and Ivory is about 10 (adopted when she was 2ish)

it's honestly out of practical concern, and it was originally her mother's idea after her father vanished

other families with long legacies of SEWs (like the Calaveras) were being wiped out. while Quinn (her father's last name that i might change but idk yet ) isn't a name with a long legacy, she knew sharing his name meant whoever hunted and killed him would only have an easier time finding Summer

so they changed their name to Rose and moved to Patch

i talked a bit in a previous ask, but Summer became a huntress because her mother, hoping to teach her to protect herself, taught her how to fight, and huntsman training was a natural progression of that

Summer thought, as long as she didn't broadcast her silver eyes, she would be safe and be able to fight off anyone trying to hunt her, but she was too good of a huntress and was unfortunately roped into the war against Salem

ah! yes

so Belladonna is actually the name Blake chose for herself when she needed to fill out the paperwork for schooling and such

it seems very BlakeTM to choose a poisonous plant as her last name

as for Ghira and Kali, i'm still deciding what to do about their names! i'm considering the idea that the faunus of menagerie don't typically use last names as they have a community and unity-oriented society. but they probably will need last names (at least Ghira) simply for political reasons. but idk!

-always snuck into her family's beds at night

-fussy baby, lots of trouble sleeping

-liked to be dressed up in halloween costumes all year round

Weiss Schnee

-born in Atlas

-every night before bed Nicholas Schnee would read to Winter, Weiss, and Whitley

-occasionally Jacques would let Weiss sit in his lap while he did important business thingsTM

--only if she was very quiet and well-behaved, ofc, but she actually learned a lot just by being in the room where it happens

-was the most excited for Whitley's birth out of everyone

--used to sneak out of her room to check on him at night when he was just a baby

Blake Belladonna

-born in Southern Mistral

-spent her earliest years as a child laborer in Mistral SDC

--she and Adam's combined income was enough for food and to occasionally replace clothes, but they spent most nights on the street

-every Friday, her day off, she and Adam would go to the library

--there was a kind human-passing faunus who taught them both how to read and write, as well as allowed them to borrow books despite having no official ID

-Ghira felt instant-adoration for the tiny faunus

-once she was in Menagerie, she spent every day devouring every book she could (both fiction and non-fiction)

Yang Xiao Long

-born in Eastern Vacuo

--very sudden birth

--Raven refused to teleport somewhere safer because she was already half-estranged from team STQ

--she managed to find help in time, and Yang has been a survivor since day 1, so it all turned out okay

-very well-behaved child

--literally every adult that got to meet her absolutely adored her

-had an Ursa teddy bear named Mr. Blue

--would give Ruby Mr. Blue to help with her nightmares

--loved to drag Ruby and Mr. Blue around in her wagon

I have been looking at your RWBY RCLR redesigns (they are great btw!) but I want to know why that Yang wears a teal dress, does she straight up go with Blake instead of Sun in this rewrite or am I misinterpreting? If so… why teal out of all colours?

i did choose teal to have her match Blake, but they don't officially go together. i totally get why you'd think that tho since matching your date is usually what you do

i meant to put sun in some teal too but i guess i forgot to when i was actually coloring him 😅

but yeah! i guess i wasnt thinking about it from an in-universe lens and more doylist: i didn't want Yang to wear white because i didnt want her in the same color as Weiss, i didnt want her in yellow because thats too much yellow, and i thought it'd be cute if she matched Blake's bow!

How many chapters have you got done of RWBY RCLR given you’ve been mentioning V4 a lot in the WIP asks?

so im the type of writer who bounces around to the different scenes i want to write rather than linearly. which is why i struggle with regular uploads

i have Something written for all but about eleven chapters spanning v1-4 (i havent organized my v5-8 docs into chapters yet), but many of those are only single sentences, and almost none of them are complete 😅

im trying very hard to get v1 finished currently, but v4 is the volume i have the most written for other than v1!
