‘I Can’t Breathe’: Video shows white policeman laying on top of crying black girl
“A video posted yesterday evening on Instagram shows a white police officer laying on top of a crying Black girl as she vomits and says, "I can't breathe," through labored breaths.
Someone contacted the Kaufman County, Texas sheriff's department to report that 18-year-old Nekia Trigg was jumping in front of cars in traffic. Trigg is a resident of Forney, Texas.
When the seven-minute video begins, an officer, identified as Kaufman County Deputy Conner Martin, is laying on top of Trigg as women around them scream.”
I haven't seen anyone talk about this yet on here and I'm not sure what else to do. The Instagram post was taken down but the video has spread to Twitter. Officers arrested her mother for asking to loosen her daughter's handcuffs, and Martin was reportedly not wearing his bodycam properly as well.
Please PLEASE fucking share. This monster has used his badge to abuse this girl and borderline sexually assault her and was only placed on leave.

i dont post about where i go to school because ive always wanted to keep that private, but i cant anymore because i refuse to let them get any more marginalized students to come there. If you are on the east coast in the US or just looking for a university to attend, do NOT go to Moravian University. I have never felt more unsafe, more unwelcome, and more threatened in my entire life. If you are marginalized in any way, you WILL be at danger if you go to this institution. Professors, students, and staff are silenced. the president has personally confronted students and staff when they make criticism of him or call him out on his racism. Students have been hatecrimed, assaulted, called slurs, followed, stalked, harrassed here by other students, and nothing has been done. they protect abuse and shun victims. Again, do NOT go to Moravian University or even give them your money.
Some links for info about corruption at Moravian University. They’ve recently fired one of our biggest comrades in a high level of power in terms of Diversity Advocacy simply for doing her job and trying to condemn white supremacy at the institution. I’d really appreciate it if you all could take a look at the links and share, as well as send emails or call in support of marginalized students on this campus. Thanks.

New details have emerged about the Roman Catholic Church's controversial multimillion-dollar legal bill paid from a fund intended for residential school survivors.
In documents obtained Friday by CBC News, one of the church's lawyers admits that the money came from that fund and said everything was done with full approval of all 50 Canadian "Catholic entities" contributing to the fund.
Legal and ethics experts interviewed Friday say they're horrified, calling it another example of the Catholic Church's betrayal of survivors.
"Church officials and the lawyers and other professionals they retained to bilk residential school survivors should not be sleeping restfully," said Arthur Schafer, founding director of the Centre for Professional and Applied Ethics at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg.

WB: A Iittle bit of booing from what is a grandstand filled with orange. It was never going to be a love in this weekend, I think we accepted that. You said you used it as fuel, I like that.
“It's not a surprise to me given the things that have been said from the heads of that team that have incited that, right? I think over this break people really need to look within and [at] the things that have been said, because it is unacceptable the things that have been said, and on top of that the things that have escalated. You know they just had to fire someone the things that were said by that... and I don't know who it was about, it doesn't matter who it was about, if I pass it to my friend or my father or my brother, we all feel that pain of what those words, what they meant by those words.
But you know, the world is changing and we've got to continue to stay positive. I'm really proud of my team for staying so focused during this time because it's been a whirlwind of emotions and it's things coming at us in all different directions but we've kept our heads down. We've come here and delivered and I'm really, really proud of everybody.”
WB: There's been booing before in the battle between you and Nico. When it comes from a sporting perspective, is that something you can deal with, you can cope with? But when it comes obviously from a very different perspective how much harder is that to deal with? And how much more responsibility do people need to take with the words that they use in a sporting context?
“Look, I'm a sporting fan, so I watch -- I've never booed any team before in any other sport, because it's just not in my character, but of course I want one team to win more than another or something like that -- but I've seen, growing up around it, we know what it is. We do have to be so careful with our words, particularly as there're young kids watching. We're supposed to be shining a light and encouraging people out there, right, and spreading positivity. We need leaders of this industry to be leaders. They have people following them, kids following them. We're supposed to as a sport, we've got a responsibility and I think, yeah, there should be some strong talks probably over the next weeks.
But either way, it's not got in my way. ”

A proposed settlement agreement worth nearly $8 billion has been reached in two national class action lawsuits launched against the federal government by First Nations living under drinking water advisories.
The settlement, which is awaiting court approval, would offer $1.5 billion in compensation to individuals deprived of clean drinking water and modernize Canada's First Nations drinking water legislation.
About 142,000 individuals from 258 First Nations could be compensated, along with 120 First Nations. Depending on the details of the final agreement, more people may end up being eligible for compensation.
Individuals' compensation will be calculated based on how remote their communities are, how long they lived under a drinking water advisory and whether they suffered any adverse health conditions as a result.

Winnipeg's mayor says Manitoba's premier should apologize for claiming colonists intended Indigenous people no harm.
Mayor Brian Bowman tweeted Friday morning that Premier Brian Pallister should make amends for comments he made on July 7, when he issued a plea for calm following the toppling of statues on the Manitoba Legislature grounds.
"The people who came here to this country before it was a country, and since, didn't come here to destroy anything," Pallister said at the time. "They came here to build."
The comments were described as inaccurate by historians, who noted Canada's residential school system was designed with the stated purpose of erasing Indigenous culture.
Some Indigenous leaders called on Pallister to resign in the wake of his comments. Bowman waited 23 days to suggest the premier apologize.
"Any characterization of the Indian Residential Schools system that denies or marginalizes its intended purpose and impact is historically inaccurate and counterproductive to our journey of reconciliation," the mayor tweeted Friday morning.

reminder that george floyd wasn't a martyr who sacrificed his life for the betterment of white people
he didn't choose to die. he didn't sacrifice himself. he was murdered in cold blood
white people are already twisting this, thanking him for his sacrifice like he decided to be brutally murdered by a white cop for existing as a black man
like. stop thanking him for being killed just because it made you open your eyes! it was never his responsibilty to make you take a stand against police violence and racial profiling in the first place
you want to make something out of his death? acknowledge that it was senseless and never should have happened in the first place! stop glorifying this murder

in light of the absolutely horrific news about Ma’Khia Bryant’s death at the hands of the Columbus PD i just wanted to take a moment to link Loveland, a nonprofit that provides therapy to black girls and women if people are looking for support or people are looking for somewhere to support right now

Some racist asshole run a muslim family down with his pick-up truck this afternoon in London (Ontario), killing four and leaving only one family member alive. The terrorist was a 20-year old islamophobic dude who targeted muslims and wanted to kill as many of them as possible; when the police arrested him, he was wearing body armor, he had intended to commit more than just murders. There's a 9-year old who lost his family and is in the hospital right now. It's heartbreaking.
Killing of Canadian Muslim family with truck was hate crime -police

Image is tweet from @ coribush which reads:
“I testified in front of Congress about nearly losing both of my children during childbirth because doctors didn’t believe my pain.
Republicans got more upset about me using gender-inclusive language in my testimony than my babies nearly dying.
Racism and transphobia in America.”
End image description
I’m so tired of Republicans. I’m so tired of their hate and small mindedness and the fact that they complain about all the “liberal snowflakes” who can’t handle anything and bemoan the end of “free speech” because of “cancel culture” but then pull THIS SHIT.

white privilege is NOT:
I can do whatever I want and face no consequences because I'm white
being white gives me special secret services like a vip club
white privilege IS:
my life is not made any more difficult because of my skin color
so people with white fragility saying "well my life is hard too🥺": no one is saying it isn't. it's just that your life is not negatively impacted by the color of your skin. saying "white privilege doesn't exist" because you can't see what your privilege does for you or see the hardships others go through that you don't experience is ignorant and false.
