Okay so once in a while I play Pokemon Legends Arceus (I finished the 2nd boss I think) and I’m genuinely surprised with Pokemon ZA coming but also felt like it would come… so I’ll throw something in:

What if at the beginning of the game, Zygarde itself greets you? Kinda like:

Arceus: Welcome, Random Child #2. I brought you here because a legendary requested help to send you into the past.

Player: But why are you here? Surely there are other time traveling Pokemon.

Arceus: My first initial is in the title. Now, here’s the one who needs your help.

*A giant Zygarde just comes into view at full screen roaring, scaring the player.*

Zygarde: Listen up, punk. I’m in charge of keeping the earth balanced. I need you to go in there, get every Pokemon in the region, and make sure that the humans don’t mess the ecosystem up more than usual. Got it? Good. Go get em! *just throws the player into Past Lumiose City*

Will never forget that back in February when I went to go visit my boyfriend and finally visit another state other than Oregon and Washington, I downloaded Far Cr 5 while I was staying with him and then downloaded my save so I could continue my game and let my boyfriend watched.

I come back and he is playing the game and throwing shovels at everyone he sees, and then gets sad when he runs out of shovels so I go and buy more. And then I had some resulting saved clips from when he went crazy and threw shovels at everyone in the Wolf's Den.

And thus began my boyfriend wanting to get the game and so he got it after I went back home and we just played together.....ensuing in complete shenanigans.

1. As far as job requests went, this was definitely one of the most dangerous ones Moon had ever taken.

2. "It looks filthy," Moon said.

3. “Are you sure this is legal?”

4. Nessa hasn't had the chance to enjoy summer properly in the past three years.

5. GYM CLOSURE

6. The walls of the cave were damp, and the sand was firm beneath his feet.

7. Gladion never tired of stargazing.

8. After a few weeks of endless work, Moon was ready to relax and enjoy the weekend with her boyfriend.

9. It's been a long, exhausting day at the League.

10. Gladion's first encounter with magic happened when he was 5, and Mohn brought him to see a Pidgey evolving.

11. Life in the West Reserve Army was often fraught with danger.

12. One year later, he had become nothing more than a distant memory.

13. Sophie was sick.

14. Fuchsia City was Moon’s childhood hometown.

15. It was all because of that blasted photoshoot.

16. The sandy road through Mell Forest is rough and unpaved.

17. In the three years since he got to know Moon, Gladion thought he had gotten used to the occasional weird behaviours she exhibited.

18. Lumiose City is cold in winter.

19. It all began when Moon arrived at Gladion's office for one of her usual visits, and found them in a bit of a chaotic mess.

20. It should have been a simple matter.

I thinkkkkk that I employ a lot of different ways to open a fic, depending on the style of that fic itself? Surprisingly enough I only have two here that open with a dialogue (I thought I’d have more, haha). Those two, and about three more, begin in media res. A couple are depicting setting (time, place, or situation before the story starts.) And the remaining generally a mixture of them, interlaced with the thoughts/opinions of the pov character.

Not sure I have a favourite, since I think the style and tone of a story determine how best to open it. Thoughts and opinions work strongly when the fic has more contemplative moments, while in media res often works great when action and pacing are fast.

im kinda inclined to think that the emperor romance scene happens because its trying to manipulate you somehow, but i'll be honest, for being a guy that brags about how much it calculates all the outcomes, i dont think it would try to do that for that reason by the fact that its literally one of the most heinous creatures ever to exist in that universe. like mindflayes are listed as an ''aberration'' for a reason, a sane person would freak the fuck out and i dont think it would benefit from that
