+ daisuke really strikes me as someone who gets very shy around people he genuinely likes. around random people he just wants to hook up with, he’s probably a lot more forward and confident but if he has a crush on you? oof. he’s fumbling for his words and tries to speak very little so you don’t notice it.

+ he’s dumb™. so chances are he’ll try to make you jealous by hanging around other people and flirting with them in front of you. when he notices that it’s not working he becomes really apologetic and explains he isn’t that “playboy” type that everyone perceives him to be. he just wants you to like him back and he doesn’t know how ?

+ mainly because he’s used to buying everything. he’s used to everyone being nice to him because he’s a kambe. when he realizes that you could give less of a fuck about all that, he wants to impress you especially because you present yourself to be a very professional, reserved person.

+ because of your reserved personality, he most likely met you through work. he makes excuses to visit your workplace. everyone’s happy that daisuke is there, but he’s there to see you and no other reason but that. he wants to talk to you, he wants to get to know you.

+ he never makes it noticeable, with you at least. he’s probably really dismissive with you because he doesn’t want you to notice him blushing.

+ if you’re friends with haru he probably pesters him a lot to tell him more about you so he knows what you like and what you don’t. he’s all about impressing you. one day haru is like, “dude let’s just all go to the bar and hang out.”

+ cue daisuke freaking out about being in a casual setting with you. but when he arrives and sees you ? he’s back to that dismissive vibe. it’s only until he notices that you’re not in your work clothes, your hair is down, and you’re talking casually and happily with haru that he cuts the act.

+ he sees you smiling and laughing at a joke haru told and he’s jealous so he buts in with a cheesy, stupid joke of his own. it’s embarrassing but you laugh anyway and tell him that he’s pretty funny. daisuke begins to loosen up himself and that’s when you start seeing him more than just a snotty little rich boy.

+ after that the two of you most likely started hanging out together. it was casual first before he formally asks you out on a date. the way he asked you was actually very cute. he gave you a call and told you he’ll pick you up on a certain day at a certain time.

+ it’s date night. and you’re nervous because you’ve never been in a place so fancy before. daisuke thinks it’s cute and walks you through the process. telling you which fork is for what. he playfully teases you so you tell him that you’ll plan the next date.

+ it’s not formal at all. it’s a silly little amusement park date and before you go you demand that daisuke change out of his suit and wear something casual for once in his damn life. the two of you are walking, holding hands, and wearing matching headbands. he feels so... free ? so happy.

+ the two of you are sitting on a bench enjoying a snack. he just turns to you and goes. “i think i’m falling in love with you.” you pretend not to hear him because you’re still processing your emotions too. then it’s nightfall and the fireworks are going. the two of you share a kiss he says it again and you agree. you’re falling in love with him.

+ when daisuke is with someone he genuinely likes. he sheds that brooding persona and becomes this kind, gentle young man who wants to love and be loved in return. his courting process is honestly nothing extravagant but just a genuine display of his emotions. him showing his vulnerability is the most precious, rare thing you can get.

fab nygmobblepot moments that remind you of kd uwu

OMGGGG AHDAHDUIADHAD

I want to use this moment to be sorry to everyone that follows me but keeps seeing my blog full of Nygmobs/Smaylor instead of kaisoo. I usually don’t get attached to otps like this and it happened in an unexpected way for me. But it’s here and I need to compensate for all the years I didn’t watch Gotham and had no idea about Nygmobs spamming everyone and making my heart warm.

But in general, nygmobblepot isn’t a vision of ideal relationship. Both Edward and Oswald (their surnames Cobblepot and Nygma were the ones who originated this name) are stupid and do stupid shit to each other during most of the series. So, a lot of moments related with the actors counterpart (Robin is the actor who plays Oswald and Cory who plays Ed) reminds me of kaisoo more. But a warning here! Although they have a HUGE chemistry on and off screen, they’re mostly friends. Robin is married for almost ten years so it doesn’t mean their closeness is romantic or sexual. But still, some details remind me of kd.

Similarities with nygmobs:

Height difference: it applies to Smaylor as well because it’s their height but it’s really visible in the series. Cory is a bit taller than JI I think and Robin is like 1.65 but KS is not that taller (I can’t believe he’s 1.73 at all, sorry). But, again, this factor is evident during the series and in some moments and it’s cute.

(when they hug, Oswald barely reaches his shoulders [their hugs are the equivalent to kisses in Gotham])

the closest gif I could find where we can see kd’s height difference without me stealing other people’s gifs.

Penguin reference? That’s pretty obvious. Of course I didn’t start shipping nygmobs because one of them is small and has the Penguin nickname but it made so much easier for me to read some of their fics with kd as characters because they fit the profile so much! And also, I believe KD would totally fit the “murder husbands” couple if someone did a fanfic where they just kill everyone. The closest I remember of a fanfic with this criteria is Juice Pouche where Kyungsoo is a vampire and he protects Jongin and Jongin is kind of badass as well. But the kd fandom needs more fics like this. There’s also “(Before the night is over) come see me” where KS is also a vampire and JI a young werewolf but it focuses more on their relationship than a murder husbands idea Gotham shows so well.

How they met: Gotham’s history has a lot of differences if you compare with other universes, so keep that in mind. In Gotham, Ed works with GCPD but doesn’t feel like himself with the good side. Oswald is the character that spices things up and is a rage of death and destruction and manipulation. But Oswald is infatuated with Jim Gordon (so isn’t the first time it’s implied Penguin is gay) but he goes to the police department to see him. Ed sees him and wants to talk to him no matter the cost. And he does that... And things don’t end that friendly for him because Oswald thinks he’s a weirdo and asks him to fuck off, basically. It reminded me of kd’s first meeting where KS was the one admiring JI all along but JI get frightned. But, during their second meeting, they bond and become friends. For Nygmobs it takes more time for their second meeting but they end up developing and being in good terms :’)

Their personas, sort of: Ed is the tall one, younger and logic. Oswald is the oldest, smaller and that thinks with his heart. I love how JI could show the more logic side of himself during the last few years and, again, while reading Nygmobs fics using kd names, it was easy to fit the profile for me (that was during the time I wasn’t too deep into nygmobs and I didn’t knok them that well. KS looks cold and deatached and that’s why many people got impressed when he said, during Knowing Bros that he would choose love over friendship. He doesn’t play the part but, considering all the context, it fits him pretty well and reading this description of Oswald made me so familiar because it fits KD well. Ofc I don’t know their private lives and whatever but it’s just the impression I had as a viewer and random person;

Drama issue: when I say drama here, it’s related with how people percieve the two OTPs and how different people visualize LGBT relationship in media. Nygmobblepot had a lot of drama involved because they’re the fucking Riddler and Penguin, two of the most famous Batman villains. People saw them in different sorts of media before and others idolize those characters because of videogames and comics. So, when Oswald mentioned expressedly that he was in love with Edward, it caused an uproar in the fandom. People accused the producers and Robin of messing with the comic canon because the fucking Penguin became gay??? Robin was outspoken about the homophobia behind those statements since he’s a gay man himself but yeah, the drama existed. Part of the people invovled with the series rooted for Nygmobblepot, including some writers and the actors (Cory was the one with ambiguous messages about the nature of their relationship but it’s not even close what happened with other series like Supergirl, Supernatural and Sherlock). But it was aired by FOX, a right wing channel and, as you may imagine, they didn’t become canon per se. Actually, after Oswald said he was in love with Ed and planned on confessing to him, the writers presented a clone of Ed’s ex girlfriend with no explanation and purpose, only to separate them for most part of the series future. After that, some people seemed to have FORGOTTEN Oswald was once in love with Edward, rationalizing many things that are hard to explain with a “bro explanation”, they had a scene where the characters would have evolved even more but it was CUTTED and CHANGED and execs added the sentence “we’re brothers” to make EXPLICIT that Nygmobblepot’s relationship wouldn’t be interpreted as a romance at the end of the series (but, honestly, the actors went for the romance path anyway, the deleted scenes and the final episode can’t convince me otherwise).

What’s related with KD, may you ask? I think you’re familiar with all the drama KD faced since 2016 and how many stuff exploded during that time. How many parts are involved into creating a certain image and shifting it to be appealing and “friendly” is similar with what happens with idols. It’s no secret now about many scandals of bullying and other issues that are considered problematic and how they need to be pushed under the rug for companies so idols can make money and be profitable. Especially for male idols, it’s important that they are viewed as desirable and an object of the fans affections. That’s why he needs to be handsome and kind and look like a person that doesn’t exist. If an idol is openly gay, this person isn’t viewed by the major public with the same interest because they can’t fit the fantasy. That’s why scandals involving idols being gay need to be forgotten and deleted from people’s minds, otherwise that celebrity is ostracized. Although we tend to see the Ocident as “progressive”, there’s similar things happening in that industry. If a celebrity is openly LGBT, they don’t receive certain roles or opportunities because of it. There’s still a huge stigma that needs to be broken and we, as a society, are so far way from it. But recognizing those differences exist it’s a step forward.

Similarities with Smaylor

For me, one of the reasons Nygmobblepot works so well is because of the actors. They portrait a good chemistry because of their friendship off screen and some non verbal signs they display around each other are amazing. Those are things that remind me more of KD as we see them in a lot of moments. So, I wanted space to show those comparisons below:

Mutual admiration: it’s something both Smaylor and KD display a LOT and is extrememly outspoken. I really love watching their old interviews because the affection and admiration is so genuine it makes me drawn to them despite not being romantically involved.

Stares and touches: Robin was the responsible for the deep stares and Cory for the random touches. There’s so many gifs of it that is hilarious. It’s like JI divided himself in two cells because we know he’s more known for both >.<

The fact the actors came up with their OTP names: people tend to forget that KD’s real otp name (according with Jongin) is dika. Cory also came up with Nygmobblepot name and Smaylor too <3

So, meanwhile Nygmobs has thropies that work a lot with KD AUs, Smaylor has healthy dynamics seen in public appearances KD made. Like I said above, there’s a huge polemic about shipping Smaylor romantically because Robin is married. On social media, is visible he loves his husband and it’s pretty cute to see. Cory himself mentioned that their relationship was sort of a platonic friendship (whatever that means) but it’s really genuine in terms of affections and display of admiration, something KD has as well.

Probably someone will question that it may changed the way I see KD or if now I ship them as bros. Nothing about that changed. With KD, although there are some similar details, there are internal AND external factors that made me support them in a romantic perspective in the first place. And it didn’t change.

But both of them (Nygmobs too) make me feel that I’m testimoning something genuine, which is really hard in both kpop and media universes. In one side, we have a LOT of fanservice. And, in the other, it’s mostly a work interaction with lots of queerbating. Yes, Gotham has queerbating aspects in it but it’s not full of queerbating, if it makes sense. The message the actors and some writers wanted to convey are there and really display a romantic direction with character evolution and growth. And, considering the way media is nowadays, it’s nice to see.

hii,, hope you two are doing well uwu. ok so far, ive only been requesting stuff n i figured might as well just ask for a matchup too lol,,,for knb, haikyuu, free, and fire force (i know ur rules said only 3 so it can be any three from those 4 lol)

my name’s lily and uh basic stuff..i’m a female high school student around 156cm maybe 157 on a good day;3 im bi but with more of a preference for guys (who are tall, like as long as ur a tall guy/girl whatever, i will prolly automatically start simping akdhfj)

i have long black hair that’s usually straight but on a slightly wavy side. my skin’s like a light-ish brown and my eyes are chocolate brown,, or so i’m told. i’m on the more busty side and would say i’m fairly curvy(?) but my grandma keeps saying i’m skinny and need to eat more:))speaking of eating, its like absolutely one of my favorite things ever lolol (so yeah kinda contradictory lol)

In terms of being emotional, he’s rather in touch with his emotions and will definitely be able to help ground you or at least bring you back to sensible ground if your emotions get the better of you and make you more stressed out than need be.

Other then that, he’s super curious and interested about your hobbies~! He likes to support you and honestly will keep you in line if you happen to stray too far from what needs to be done. He won’t really lecture you, but he’ll remind you that to get out of the hell that’s called school you gotta at least finish with passing. One word, chaotic. But in a good way! See you and Kageyama would like two puzzle pieces, and the reason being is because he is emotionally stupid, that you can definitely help him with that! Anyways, you and Kageyama will have a blast with each other; he will be the type of person where your mental battery doesn’t get drained because he is just a quiet as you can be and just as soft. The cuddles would be endless and amazing because of this.

He will like how confident you are, from confessing to someone to being confident in competitions and such. And if he were to see you that you are panicking, he will do his best to calm you down. Key phrase here is do his best. He might not be that good at it, but you love the spirit. This boi will love that you eat so much. He will have literal eating contest with you and then pass out when you win and he ate too much food. Next day comes around and he scarfs down the cookies like he depends on it, and when done will give you kiss as thanks. It’s kind of gross though because his mouth is still full lololol.

Physical features and pda; Like Sousuke, he isn’t one to actively look for pda, but if you were to hold his hand or cuddle with him in public, he will unconciously respond to you, he will really not think about and it’s the most adorable thing ever! He will just lean into and play with your curly hair and not really think anything of it. He will get laughed at by his friends, and he will be embarrassed but he won’t stop once he gets started! You are also just very huggable to him!

These big babies have a lot to give, so what would they be like in a relationship? *A REALISTIC thread*

A/N: Happy Valentine’s Day to all my bad bitches out there! This post is partially based off their star sign traits and their true personalities. (Also the word Tsundere: a seemingly cold-hearted s/o, but actually a softie for those who didn’t know) Enjoy!!

Sangyeon

The passionate boyfriend! In all honesty, Sangyeon would be your big cuddly bear. Brave, caring and trustworthy, this baby will stop at nothing to make sure you are both happy and comfortable with one another. He fr sets the standard for boyfriends everywhere. Just like when he’s with his other members, he’ll stop at nothing to make you laugh, and to protect the ones he loves. If you ever end up with him, you’ll be one lucky person.

Fights: Fights with Sangyeon will be short and usually end in a couple hours, ending with both or you (or Sangyeon apologizing) and wanting the argument to come to an end. Being of the Scorpio sign, Sangyeon can be naturally jealous and stubborn, which can sometimes drag on the fight. Longer fights will take a couple days tops, and can be unbearable for the both of you and almost always end in tears. At the end of the day, Sangyeon can’t stand to loose you, and he definitely doesn’t want to break up with you over a petty argument.

The chivalrous boyfriend! Gentle and affectionate, Jacob is the boy any person on this Earth would dream of having. Jacob is such a softie and would literally do the most to make you and him happy and functioning in this relationship, but would expect the same back obvi.

Fights: As much as Jacob seems soft with you most times, fights with Jacob would be long and petty. Y’all remember his fight over cereal? that man is ruthless when he wants 2 be 💀. The long fights wouldn’t happen as often, but expect to fight this dumbass at least one a week over something simple. He will bring up anything and everything to give himself leverage in a fight, but tries his very best to keep himself level headed so you two can stop the fight after you admit he’s right.

Personal needs: Jacob is a happy virus, meaning he strives to be happy and make others happy, meaning you’ll need to keep him on his toes 24/7. Just like him, you’ll need to be someone as caring and bright as he is. He loves anything you guys can do together, whether it be something big like a day at the amusement park or just even chilling at the dorms for a few hours. As we all know, this boy loves being close to you, so hold him tight and never let go!

Younghoon

The Tsundere boyfriend! Don’t let his quiet persona fool you, once you get to know Younghoon, you’ll instantly warm up to him. You know what they say, actions speak louder than words. Being true to his Leo roots, Younghoon is a very kind-hearted and generous boy, and would not hesitate to give you the world if you asked for it. He’s more of the touchy type, and although he may not be good at saying it, he can always tell what type of mood you’re in and what he can do to help.

Fights: Fights would usually stem from some kind of miscommunication between the two of you. Of all things, Younghoon hates being mistreated and ignored. Fights would be coldhearted, and could range from hours to a week, depending on the fight. But once the situation is resolved, things will never be awkward and he would try his best to make the air between you two comfortable again.

Personal needs: Being the solemn boy he is, Younghoon doesn’t really need that much attention, until he does. And when he does, well, let’s say you won’t be seen for a few days,,, In all honesty, he loves your attention though you will never catch him begging for it. He would appreciate small but meaningful gestures, like cute notes of comfort or reminding him of something happy when he’s sad. (P.S.: he’s a huge aegyo fan, so whip that out in front of him at random times to watch him loose it LMAOO.) All in all, Younghoon is a strong and sensitive baby who needs as much effort back as he gives you.

Hyunjae

The hyper boyfriend! Jaehyun is your typical loud, rowdy and bubbly boyfriend, that everyone dates at least once in their lives. He can get very clingy and annoying at times, but also has a flip side where he can become comforting and a safe home to you.

Fights: Fights with Jaehyun would be nothing other than annoying. He is literally the pettiest bitch in a fight, and would overall be the worst of the others to fight with. He will usually never apologies, even if it was his doing, or he would do so begrudgingly cause he misses you and is sorry. He claims to be a know-t-all which is even worse, leading him to patronize you and over-react a lot. These fights can either break your relationship completely, or make them stronger after fighting.

Personal needs: As I stated previously, Jaehyun is a clingy boy, so he will stop at nothing to get you to even glance at you from across the couch. He’s gonna need someone who can keep up with him at all times; he is a very hyperactive kid and loves to joke around and tease you non-stop.

Juyeon

The strong and silent type! Juyeon is kind of a wild card character. He will spend his time outside with you acting like he doesn’t care to be with you, but behind closed doors loves nothing more than to snuggle into your side. Since he acts like this, he can be prone to getting jealous easy, as he doesn’t like the idea of other people trying to take you away from him. The Capricorn jumped out!

Fights: Fighting Juyeon would be like fighting a wall. He can be very cocky and not seem very serious about you, which can lead to many misunderstandings and fights. He hates being wrong and having the shorter end of things, meaning he’ll most likely try to antagonize you in a fight to win. News flash: that doesn’t end up in anything than tears and one of you two storming out of the room. As much as he hates being wrong, he hates fighting with you more, so even if it kills him to say sorry, he’ll do what it takes to show you he cares for you.

Personal needs: Juyeon might not seem like the type for a lot of needs, but believe me, he is. He might not be as couple-y as he’d like with you in public, so he needs all the time he can get to make it up to you in private. Need a Snuggy? Don’t worry. He can be your personal one. Once he has you alone, he can be a real soft bitch, but would HATE if you took any soft videos and pictures as evidence that he cares for you LMAO ur ruining his bad boy image!! He will want you to be someone very close to him, and would consider you a lover and a best friend.

Kevin

The superhero boyfriend! Loud and compassionate, Kevin is the adventurous and mischievous type! He values above all else, and would be the total smitten gentleman over you uwu. Although he is 90% playful and loves to be a total wild card, the other 10% of him loves to be romantic, and will take things slowly at first so everything is perfect.

Fights: Having being stepped on in the past, Kevin can be sensitive to a lot. Fights with him wont happen to often, but when they do, it can lead to a lot of emotional baggage of his coming out in tears. Fight will usually last anywhere from a couple hours to days, but usually stays within the same day. These types of fights will be very painful for the both of you though.

Personal needs: As much as Kevin acts like a playful and carefree type, those types come with a lot of hidden issues deeper than the surface. He will need someone that is like a rock to him, and will always need reassurance when he is down. If you ever end up with Kevin, just know he will be trusting you with his very precious heart, so be careful with him!!

New

The jack-of-all-trades boyfriend! Chanhee is a loving and clingy boy, so be prepared to be showered with unwavering affection and attention from him. Being a Taurus, Chanhee will be a very romantic and constant reliable force in your life. While being very devoted, he is also very practical, meaning he can really help you with anything you might be struggling with. He can be a bit hard headed at times, but thats what make him so endearing.

Fights: As I said before, Chanhee is a Taurus, meaning he is VERY stubborn in fights, and hate seeing himself getting something wrong. HE CAN LITERALLY BE WRONG ABOUT SOMETHING BUT STILL PRETEND HE’S RIGHT. He will never compromise on a situation, and can be very petty. As much as he hates the word “sorry”, he’ll always say it with 100% meaning.

Personal needs: Similar to Kevin, Chanhee needs constant reassurance for things. Stubborn as a bull, he will need someone to cling onto like a koala and will let no human within a 10 mile radius take you from him. At the end of the day, he loves you very much and when he falls, he’ll fall hard so be ready to catch him!

The cuddly boyfriend! Totally the softest of the bunch. Changmin is the snuggliest bug you’ll ever meet. Easy-going and passionate, expect him to give his all this relationship! Won’t hesitate to make fun of you or call you dumb though. If for some reason you end up breaking up, you’ll leave the relationship with no hearing left LMAO.

Fights: Fights with Changmin would be ruthless. He is SUCH an instigator at times, and lives for drama. He can be very bipolar, and butt hurt when he gets in fights, and will use literally anything against you to fight. Although those fights won’t happen often, what WILL occur more frequently are the dumb arguments that last 2 seconds. aka him asking a stupid question and then turning it into a fight.

Personal needs: Q will need lots of cuddles and someone that us willing to put up with his antics. Although he can be annoying at times, he always means well and will put this relationship before anything else. If you end up with Changmin, be ready to stay on your toes!

Juhaknyeon

The sentimental boyfriend! Although being an introverted guy, Haknyeon can really make waves in your life. At first, he seems quite reserved, but he really just a big sensitive and energetic baby. He’s not very big on sharing, but would share anything with you. King of oversharing!! He can bounce from being a puppy; jumpy and fun, to being a soft hearted kitten in seconds. While he won’t be the most outspoken person with you, be patient with him and watch; you’ll learn a lot more about him than you think.

Fights: Fights would be an emotional buildup. Since he really doesn’t let is emotions out often, they usually come to light in his arguments with you. He can get really sensitive about certain aspects of things, and break down completely.

Personal needs: Haknyeon is a fragile baby, so he will need someone very kind hearted and soft with him. He loves to be playful with affection and will want to have as much fun with you as he can! If you ever get the chance to date this amazing boy, show him how much you care for him everyday.

Hwall

The serious-relationship boyfriend! Though as he many not show it, Hyunjoon would love to be tied down in a relationship. He would want a real connection between the two fo you that would challenge him, and always keep him learning. So, as much as he seems like a cocky bitch 25/8, he can be really down-to-earth and caring for the one he loves.

Fights: Fights with Hyunjoon can be rough to say the least. Just like some of the other boys, he won’t apologize for anything, making it hard for you two to see eye to eye all the time. He can be a literal demon during fights, and doesn’t really have a filter at times.

Personal needs: Hyunjoon is truly a caring soul. He always wants to know the meaning of things, and will want someone to show him the true meaning of love. Once he falls for someone, he will fall very hard, and will be very tedious with caring for you. If he gets jealous, he wont outright say it, but he can be a little butt hurt with his side comments afterwards. Even though he seems protective, he truly means well, and wants for you two to stay happy together forever!

Sunwoo

The wildcard boyfriend! Patient and energetic, Sunwoo is a raging force in your life. He loves to act soft with you and tease you to no end. As teasing as he can be, he truly loves you and cares for everything you say or do. He hates PDA but would love nothing more for you to squish his cheeks when he’s not around the other members uwu

Fights: Sunwoo can be a little hard headed at times, and sometimes can’t portray his emotions as well as he wants to, often leading to squabbles. Since he doesn’t really fight with you often, the ones you do have to take a little longer to work out. They always end up with the both of you apologizing around the same time though, since the both of you want it over with quickly.

Personal needs: Sunwoo isa very dedicated soul, and will give his 150% to you. To keep up with antics, you’d need to be a kind person that can easily adapt to a situation. This baby can get scared easily, so please never show him a scary movie and protect him on Halloween T T.

Eric

The laid back boyfriend! Eric would love to take things slowly, and wouldn’t want to risk a relationship because ya’ll rushed into it too fast. As chill as he is, Eric loves giving and receiving attention and support, so be ready for your own personal cheerleader where ever you go!

Fights: Your shared fights usually rare happen, in all honesty. Unlike Changmin, Eric doesn’t really find a need to fight with someone over the small things, and if there’s a problem he won’t hesitate to bring it up as soon as possible and clear it up calmly. He is very mature about fighting, and doesn’t wan’t to risk saying something he doesn’t mean in heat of the fight and loose you over it.

Personal needs: Just like Kevin, Eric can get sad easily, and will need someone as reliable as him to help him out of his slumps. He would want someone interesting and full of charms, to keep him learning all the time. Carefree and kind, Eric is truly the most reliable man out there.

unpopular opinion: regardless of how shitty some of his actions were, his motivation being preventing his little brother (who he really considers his only family) from having to do things like he did and live with the weight of them (re: fratricide) makes me uwu so hard.

Me disliking these films is probably my most unpopular opinion ever.

Let me say this to cover myself. I don’t think the Raimi Spider-Man films are the worst films ever made. I don’t even think they’re terrible, but I do think they are bad. Bad on a lower end of the scale.

I think they are on the level of the Star Wars Prequel trilogy, where the flaws might be what you like them for.

Let’s start this review with the death nail of these movies. The stylization. Like with Into The Spider-Verse, this movie uses comic book style. The difference is that this one does it insanely poorly.

Most of the film transitions are weird. They don’t match the tone that these movies are going for and they consistently made me feel like I was watching the Adam West Batman show.

Even if they didn’t, there are two other major problems for the tone. I’m not gonna beat around the bush. The acting is absolutely terrible. Like, I was not ready for how bad the acting is.

I don’t remember it being as stiff and awkward as it is. You’d expect from all the memes that the acting was constantly over the top and memorable, like Tim Curry or Jim Carrey. But when you get down to it, while there are moments like this, it actually isn’t memorable at all.

All that most of the actors do for the most part is talk in a quiet voice and an awkward tone. The only one who actually feels they were trying is JK Simmons as J.J.J. One actor who played a supporting character put more effort into their performance than the entirety of the main cast.

That astounds me.

The worst of it all is probably from Tobey Mcguire as Peter himself. He does NOT emote well. He’s actually a microcosm of the acting problems.

He just never gives the appropriate reactions to things or the movie’s work will ruin it for him.

The scene where he finds Uncle Ben’s body is the biggest example of this. We shouldn’t see his crying face all scrunched up like that. We should be further away to feel the emotions we should be feeling.

But to be fair, even if they had the best acting in the world, this movie still would not have worked. Why? Because the script is absolute garbage.

You may have noticed that this is a review of all three movies in one chapter and not doing three chapters to review each one. That’s because they all have the same basic plot and the exact same issues.

The scripting demands that Peter and MJ treat each other like shit. That both of them be absolutely terrible for each other. It demands that right after a serious sequence of Peter getting the symbiote, that there should be a stupid dance scene. It demands that Peter do...whatever the fuck this is.

A wall starts to fall onto MJ. Peter, instead of just grabbing her with his webbing, screams like a banshee.

The scripting lastly demanded that the fight scenes have no excitement whatsoever and just throw in random bullshit.

Let’s see what all of the good stuff Peter and MJ did for each other. They kept secrets that would need to be open in a relationship from each other, MJ straight up cheated on Peter with JJJ’s son because Peter missed her play, and didn't tell him that Harry was losing it.

MJ in these movies is AWFUL! The movies try to paint her as the ‘UWU’ Girl, but her actions are so awful and mean spirited that it makes her look like a miserable piece of shit.

It’s a shame too because her actress was trying her best, but no one could make anyone who says this (MJ: It’s not about you. It’s about me.) look good.

Could you make this kind of relationship work? Yes, but that requires effort and it’s clear that the people behind these movies didn’t want to do that.

The two towers bit is a good example of that. When a Dreamworks kids movie has more balls than you, there’s a problem. Instead of sticking to their guns and making a good reveal, nah let’s just cut out the reveal of Spidey’s costume and put American flags everywhere.

The way that MJ and Peter’s relationship in these movies was handled was so terrible, that I’m willing to bet it played a part in the creation of One More Day. Oh yeah, I’m talking about THAT one eventually! Just you wait.

But Peter doesn’t come out of this movie unscaved, because he is also a miserable piece of shit in these movies. Let me put it like this, he does not develop in ANY positive way throughout these movies. Not once did he change for the better.

He constantly puts his Spider-Man stuff ahead of his loved ones and isn’t given any positive traits. The more I learned about this version of Peter, the more I wanted the villains to win. Like when he's being a creep and looking through his crush’s window. There is nothing to like about him.

Let’s get to the villains. Green Goblin’s stuff was not a good adaptation. The scenes with Norman talking to the goblin persona could have worked, but stupid lines ruined any chance of tension.

Green Goblin: His heart Osborn! We need to attack his heart!

If the movie was trying to portray GG as so far away and cartoony from Norman, it would work, but Norman also acts like a cartoon character (Before and after he injects himself with the serum.), so the contrast is dead on arrival.

Doc Ock is one of those characters who they try to make sympathetic, but fail miserably. The point of sympathy is that his wife died, but that rings hollow when his wife’s death was all his fault.

Also, him turning into Doc Ock is a good instance of the movie’s style ruining thing. The scene where he’s killing the doctors could have been good, but Raimi felt the need to put in so much cartoon shit that it’s just laughable. The nurse scratching the floor is the biggest example of that in the scene.

There’s also him really trying to hit that C note every time he screams. I think he screams to the sky like twice in 2.

Then there’s 3, where the villains are given absolutely nothing. Sandman is there, Harry is also the Green Goblin there, and Venom is there as well.

Could you have made that work? Probably, but, as we established, the people behind the movies didn’t want to put forth any effort to make it work. Raimi himself admitted that Venom was only put into the movie because he was popular.

When people say that these movies are profound labors of love, I’m always baffled. If you genuinely love something, you put in the time to make it good.

You don’t throw in random crap and hope the audience loves it. You make something that you know people will appreciate.

This movie is also very confused about how SM is seen in this world. The scene where those guys start throwing shit at GG and the train scene after SM stopped it are baffling to me.

There was never a point where anyone thought Spider-Man should get their support. You need to build that up. Show Pete saving people, making people admire him, and so on. If you don’t, it looks forced, because it is forced.

The scene in 2 is even more baffling. I’m sorry, but Peter’s identity should have gotten out. There is no believable way that scene would play out like it did and it stretched my disbelief into oblivion.

It says something when a video game adaptation is better than the actual film. No really, the game is better than the movie in every way.

I suppose the last things to talk about are more philosophical in how SM should be handled.

I hate the Raimi costume. Muted colors do not look good for a Peter Parker Spider-Man. The darker red and blue is just ugly and the thick black lines that represent webbing don’t help.

It just looks gaudy and ugly.

The Amazing movies costume also had this problem. It says something when the MCU version got this right.

Then there’s the last thing. I hate how it’s the thing for Uncle Ben to drill the ‘Great Power and Great Responsibility’ into Peter. In the original comic, it was a revelation that Peter came to after Ben’s death. It worked there because it was a result of guilt and a conclusion Peter came to.

By making it Uncle Ben’s catchphrase, you remove the character significance on Peter’s part. It got so bad in these movies that Amazing and MCU went out of their way to not use it.

Granted in the Amazing movies they worded it in a weird way, but still.

And that’s what I think of the Raimi trilogy. This is probably the one that most people are gonna get pissed at me for. It’s a classic for many people, I understand that, but somethings just don’t resonate for some people.

I know what the first thing people are gonna say. ‘You just like the other movies, so you’re putting these films down.’

No that is not what I am doing. I talked about these movies because I have problems with them.

The other films have problems too. The Amazing Films do too much to be generic movie fare, the MCU films push the shared universe angle a bit too hard with Tony Stark, and Into the Spider-Verse has pacing that some might think is too fast with Gwen’s friendship arc being a good example of that.

Everything has problems and attacking people because they talk about them is something that only insecure people do. While I do hate these movies, they did have a big impact on the film world. I personally do think Blade and the TDK trilogy deserve more credit for selling audiences on goofy things, but this film is what sold the general on goofy premises in films. I will grant these movies that.

I refuse to give people crap for liking these movies. All I ask in return is that you don’t give me crap for disliking them. Bring a valid argument sure, but don’t be an asshole about it is all I’m asking.
