More Hamefura plot bunnies I'll probably never get the motivation to write

#6 In which Alan can hear background music, living up to his fanon nickname "BGM". (Bonus scene of him hearing sad yet ominous music whenever "Sirius" is around during the magic academy/Fortune Lover 1 arc. May lead to Alan being the first one to find out about Sirius' secret.)

#7 Geordo and Alan doing a very convincing twin switch for a day. Somehow only their parents and Bakarina can see through their disguises. Everyone doesn't trust them with hair dye anymore afterwards.

#8 Also set during magic academy/Fortune Lover 1 arc. The Student Council + Katarina just being nice to "Sirius", which makes it harder and harder for the guy to continue his revenge. (Scenes include: helping him with paperwork, bringing him coffee and snacks, someone draping a blanket over his shoulders whenever he falls asleep on his desk, everyone just being a bunch on endearing goofballs in the office, etc.)

#9 The group getting yeeted into the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe because of some mystic mumbo jumbo relic in the Ministry.

#10 Mary in her garden, contemplating on which flowers suit each of her friends the best. (my OC from Kingdom Hearts does this actually–)

So now that you finished LN13 - what is your opinion on it? What did you like? Was there something you didn't like?

I am not sure I can organize my thoughts well but I'll do my best 😅.

Overall, this volume was really dense! A lot happened and a lot of information was given on various fronts: dark magic, the organization, Monkey Girl's past life, worldbuilding, Uncle Stuart...

Lots of intriguing parts:

Who manipulated Katarina's body when she lost control of her body? Could it have been the OG!Katarina part in her?

Why could Maria feel the use of dark magic without seeing dark magic? Can Marquis Dieke(?) use dark magic in a special way?

Why would Marquis Dieke(?) be in the organization? If he pulled the strings in Raphael's incident, does it mean he manipulated Raphael?

If the man really is Marquis Dieke, shouldn't Raphael have a role in Fortune Lover 2? Raphael can't be the second hidden capture target?

What's with Marquis Dieke(?)'s resemblance with Laura? Still, they can't be the same person since the man has wind magic while Laura is said to have fire magic.

Why didn't Sarah say a single line in this story? Why was her face hidden when Katarina saw her unconscious on the floor?

Why did Sarah go on her mission with thugs this time?

Why did Uncle Stuart dust off the leaves on Katarina's head even though he appears to hate her?

Is the fact that Nathan is missing on the day we see Uncle Stuart supposed to lead us to think they are the same person?

Dark magic was already around before normal magic was developed in Sorcier? Could dark magic be some kind of fundamental magic?

How will Sorcier's old tales impact the story? We have already seen the place to power up magic in LN7, now there is a mention of the founders of Sorcier again. How about the tales of the rampaging beast?

Is it a coincidence that Katarina lost control after getting back the pocket mirror object?

How did OG!Katarina learn magic?

So Maria is not immune to dark magic after all?

If the organization attacked Maria to prevent her from using her spell, why didn't Marquis Dieke(?) try to capture Maria?

Why didn't Pochi come out when Katarina was fighting?

the cold thing in Katarina's body, the black thing in Geordo's heart. I wonder if they are related

could the black thing in Geordo's heart be dark magic? Could he be manipulated by dark magic? Could he have dark magic inside him?

The volume was heavily focused on Cezar's romance. I was surprised Cezar was given so many sweet moments as if to set him up as Geordo's rival. The moments are nice but I am kind of neutral regarding Cezar. He has so many sides to his personality that it feels inconsistent at times: the sulking little brother, the workaholic concerned for his country, the adventurous and easygoing mercenary, and the two-faced prince. I didn't like it when he willingly deceived Maria and decided he would work on making Sorcier indebted to him so that he could marry Katarina. It felt like he wasn't a kind person concerned for his country after all. He also had no afterthoughts about Liam even so he almost made him cry with happiness. But Cezar is kinda fun in mercenary mode. I loved his moments with Katarina in chapter 4.

Also, I love Jean. Each time Jean appeared, I loved it. How he smoothly played wingman is fun to see.

But since this volume was focused on Cezar, the romance didn't develop at all for the others. Keith barely had any lines, and Nicol and Alan didn't get even one line, which is a shame.

I loved Maria's scene when she confronted Cezar. Seeing Maria with so much fighting spirit was a sight. I was surprised she was willing to confront a prince because I thought she didn't compete with the others because of their high-ranking status. She confronted Cezar, used the fiancée card against him, and smoothly prevented him from going home with Katarina. It feels like she has learned from looking at Geordo and Keith bickering, and looking at Mary scheming against Geordo.

I definitely love how Raphael had so many scenes in this volume. I like how it might imply he will have a big role later on, regardless of his possible connection with Sarah.

I also loved Laura's scenes in the volume. Whether Laura bonds with Katarina or with Raphael. Supposing Laura is Marquis Dieke, I wonder how he would consider Raphael.

It seems like Cezar is still in Sorcier by the end of the volume. Katarina has finished his route, so maybe he will lose his "capture target" status and ask for his member card in the harem? There were also so many stories about Monkey Girl's older brother that it feels like he might be revealed in the next volume. Also, with Marquis Dieke(?) mentioning how Katarina could work on their side, I wonder if it will happen in the future.

Hamefura romantic's progress

Hi everyone I was thinking about it for a long time and now we will talk about everyone's romantic's progress recently.

1) Geordo

Geordo is without any doubt the one with the most sweet moments, he kissed her a lot of times and we even had a chapter and some bonus stories on his feelings so I used to see him as the man lead but...in the chapter 5 in the light novel 13 Geordo ended up banned from the Claes House because he forcibly kissed Catarina out of jealousy so maybe the author wants to let the others have some moments too or maybe it will be ignored in the next novel. So there are still some chances. But Geordo is first for the time being. So don't worry Geokata's fans.

2) Keith

Keith is still behind Geordo but he doesn't really make any progress, he protects Catarina from Geordo and scolds her but that's all. His sweet moments seem a bit minors too. But at the end of the light novel 13 he seemed quite imposant while talking to Geordo so there is still some hope for him. But Keith is still shy about it so maybe the next sweet moments will be a bit late for him but he still have the avantage of being one of the only ones who confessed to her and he have their father's cheering. For the time being he is still mom zoned.

3) Maria

In the late volume Maria seems to have make some progress and even glared at Cezar, a royal, because she was afraid he will take Catarina to another country as his fiancée. And Catarina saved her from Sarah and some thugs but I don't think we have any sweet moment. I think she only glared at Cezar because she wants to stay by Catarina's side and if she is married to a foreign royal, it will not be possible anymore. Moreover she realized that Cezar is interested in Catarina. Still I personnaly see her as Catarina's personal bakery in my mind. But now she is protected at the Ministry of Magic so I don't know if we will have any sweet moment soon.

4) Raphael

I had a hard time to choose but it seems that Raphael is suprisingly one of the person who makes to most romantic's progress. I was suprised, generally we don't really mention him but in the last volume we talk about him a lot at the beginning and at the end of it. With Catarina blushing at his praise, thinking that if he was serious there would be no women resisting him, him worrying sick about her and agreeing with Laura when she said Catarina was too cute so a foreign prince could fall in love with her at first sight. What's more, the mysterious man Cezar and Catarina met is heavingly suspected to be his father, Marquis Dieke. So maybe the plot will be focused on Raphael for a while... Maybe the author felt bad for leaving him out ? For the time being Raphael seems to be seen as a love interest again so he still has his chances.

5) Cezar

The last volume was mainly focused on Cezar, we learn at of things about him and he was officially introduced as one of Catarina's love interests and he has Jean on his side , who now definitely wants Catarina to choose Cezar. Cezar is still in Sorcier at the end of the volume so I don't know if the story will still be focused on him or if his moments will be minors again. What's more we still don't know if Cezar will pursue Catarina even after what happened with Geordo or if he will try to contain his feelings again. Catarina doesn't seem to see him as an ordinary friend too... But I guess his position will depend of the next volume. He is a prince after all so he can rivalised with everyone.

6) Sora

Sora seems to have at least one sweet moment per volume and it's generally at the Ministry's gate. He is slowly but safely making progress. Catarina seemed to have big brother zoned him. But in the volume 13 he almost didn't appear .Maybe because it was mainly focused on Raphael and Cezar. But in the light novel 12 he is the only one to know a bit about Catarina's secret and biggest fear. He is also one of the only ones who know more or less Catarina's relationship with Cezar because the two of them wanted to save Catarina during the kidnappings at the Harbor ocean. So he still has his chances. Maybe an another rival will help him to step in. Anyway, for the time being he doesn't make any significant progress.

7) Alan and Nicol

Alan and Nicol unfortunately don't have any sweet moment since the light novel 11 where they got only one or two which are minors. Maybe they will have more sweet moments in the next volumes, who know ? But now they don't appear much and not with Catarina alone, so they should stand up a bit. Maybe the commotion with Cezar will help them. So don't stop cheering for them.

8) Mary

In Mary's case Catarina only seems to see her as a friend so we rarely ever have any sweet moment between these two. But Mary still gives her best and work hard for it. And of course protected Catarina from her others rivals.

9) Sophia

Even if Sophia is in love with Catarina, it seems that she isn't seen as a romantic interest anymore. She is seen as one of Catarina's best friends and Acchan's reincarnation. So we don't have any romantic progress with her but she still cheers up on her brother and wants to help him, we have a lot of funny moments with her and she is quite important in the plote too.

No ranked) Aaqil

The new character and love interest, I feel like I shouldn't ranked him yet since we only see him in the movie (and of course the light novel of the movie) but I don't think we should forget him. He seems important and I'm sure he will come back soon. And I love how bold he is, kissing her hand in front of everyone and even call her his "ranyamu" alias "beloved". I thought "How bold of him" He swore he will come to Sorcier again to meet Catarina so we can look forward to it.

Katarina Sees Dead People AU

Somehow, Katarina gains the ability to see ghosts after hitting her head. Because it’s Katarina, she befriends many of the ghosts she encounters and helps some of them to move on.

Some of the friendly ghosts she most interacts with are the former Duke and Duchess Claes (her paternal grandparents aka Luigi’s parents), Mary’s mother, and former Claes servants.

Of course, not all ghosts are nice. Imagine if Katarina has an encounter with the ghost of the Former King!

And when Katarina goes to the Academy, she immediately realizes that the Student Council President is being followed by a pair of ghosts while being possessed by another. The two ghosts haunting him are the real Sirius Dieke and Raphael’s mother. And I don’t need to mention who is possessing Raphael.

Sarah’s father, who could he be?

Hey everyone, I’ve got a theory about who might be Sarah's father.

(Spoiler Alert)

Let’s do a little recap on what we know about Sarah.

Until volume 10, we only knew that she was one of the children held by the Dieke family for dark magic experiments, that she has powerful dark magic and that now she was being used by someone with a high station in society for unknown reasons.

In Volume 10 we get to see more into Sarah's past: about a childhood friend she had made and her family’s situation.

Volume 10, Sarah’s POV: « My father, who was so busy with work that he rarely came back home, disappeared altogether, and I was left alone with my mother.»

In the next volume, in Sarah’s POV, we get to know more about her family.

« Before my father had stopped coming back home, my mother would give me that same calm look as she caressed my head. And when my father disappeared and my mother started ignoring me, that one boy would smile kindly at me. And even before that, my father... ».

The way Sarah seems to recount her past seems like she and her family had a closer relationship than we thought. I think maybe Sarah’s father didn’t abandon his family after all. I think maybe something happened to him.

During this volume we also find out more about how she was kidnapped, «  It had been a very long day... “Mom, I’m ba—” I opened the door to find unfamiliar men inside my house. Scared by that sight, I looked around for my mother, before finally seeing her lying down on the floor beyond the strange intruders. One glance was enough to understand that she had no life left in her. I let out a scream that cannot be described with words, and I felt something explode inside of me. My whole body was taken over by a burst of heat. “Hey, this kid’s got magic! We’re supposed to kill her too, but... What should we do?” “Magic kids can come in handy. Let’s take her back with us for now.” “And what about the body?” “Orders are to just make sure she doesn’t get found.”».

Now Sarah’s family didn’t look important enough to be targeted by assassins. They didn’t know Sarah had magic power, so it must have been for something else. But what? The assassins were tasked to kill her and her mother and make them disappear. After this Sarah was taken by the Dieke family because she had magic. This doesn’t answer anything. Then what about her father? Did he have anything to do with the Dieke family? That would explain why he went missing and why his family was targeted.

My theory is that we have already met Sarah's dad.

Volume 2 Raphael’s POV «“...Well then, madam. My work here is done. Could I please return with my family to our homeland, now...?” the man in black asked, somewhat fearfully. “Yes... you have done well. Thanks to you, my Sirius has finally obtained a healthy body.” “...Well then, can I please return to my family?” “Oh, of course. I’ll let you see them now. Men.” The woman gestured to the men who had restrained me earlier, who had been standing in the corner of the room this entire time. The man in black seemed to have a look of peace about him. The burly men approached him, and... pierced him with their swords. “...Why...?” he asked, blood flowing freely from his body as he reached out with his hand. “You said you wanted to return to where your family was, right? Well, your family is already in the afterworld... waiting for you.” The woman smiled elegantly. “...I only worked for you... because you promised me that you would... let me return to my family. After we... did all this... You... You lied to me...!” »

I believe Sarah’s father is the man that sacrificed Raphael's mom to obtain dark magic to transplant Sirius’s soul into Raphael’s body. If he were her father it could explain, why he went missing and why Sarah and her mom were targeted by assassins. (This could also explain how Sarah ended up in the Dieke family and how she was born with magic.)
