A CSI or DSI switcheroo-ifier 📷🔌🔄🕹️🔬🔎📡💻👥🛠️
On the Pi Compute IO board and Pi Zeros theres a camera connector that is 22 pins and 0.5mm pitch, whereas the classic Pi's use 15-pin 1mm pitch. what if you want to switch between the two? this lil open-source hardware doo-dad will do it. here we're testing it by connecting a Pi 3 to a 'mini spy camera' modules that would normally go right onto a Pi Zero https://www.adafruit.com/search?q=spy+camera and it works! we're going to also try it the other direction, and then order the PCBs & boards.

I installed #RetroPie on a #RaspberryPi 1 today! It is freakischly slow and can't run #Nintendo64, #PlayStation or even #C64 games, but I can run #Atari2600 and #GameboyColor games. Maybe I should try #Overclocking it? #Retro #RetroComputing #RetroComputer #RetroGaming #RetroGame #Commodore64 #Raspberry https://www.instagram.com/p/CpDW0eyIWCv/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

An introduction from BrianLinuxing, welcome
Tumblr media
Good afternoon, good evening and good night, but more importantly welcome to my new mini blog!
I’m BrianLinuxing across social media and here as well, yet in truth I am just an old IT manager, who’s forgotten more than I want to ever think about.
I used to work in the City of London (the financial sector), doing complex computing things, building datacentres from scratch or migrating Mainframes, long before Google existed or there was a handy YouTube channel to explain everything!
I’ve done a lot over the years and started coding when Richard Nixon was in power, imagine that.
I have worked across many sectors, academia, Banking, commercial and also charities.
Non-profit-wise, I founded and ran the largest Linux community group in Britain.
I co-founded the largest Raspberry Pi community in London.
I give talks on tech, Linux, operating systems and how best to do technology the smart way. I run classes on Linux, how to get started, best practices and why to use it.
My computing talks and classes span the history of computing from the Abacus, to my new one: a quick guide to the AWS Amazon Linux 2 CLI.
Still, enough of me, that will be all explained in my new blog elsewhere when I finally managed to bolt it together, from all of the many disparate parts.
The function of this Tumblr blog is to collate my mini-reviews of #IoT devices, single board computers, strange pieces of tech and also to explain the odd gotchas that occur in Linux sometimes.
I am increasingly doing more and more #AWS
If you find it useful please let me know over on Mastodon, @BrianLinuxing at fosstodon.org
I exist on Instagram too! Even Twitter, yes as BrianLinuxing.
And now on Bluesky!
PS: I like cats, although I have never properly owned one (if that is truly possible with cats?). I am very fond of classical music, tea and books.

Desktop portable Stargate 🌌🛸💡
Always liked the episode of SG-1 when Orlin made a mini Stargate using various parts ordered online and from Major Samantha Carter's toaster. This one at least fits in our apartment, all part of the round LCD work we are doing with the ESP32-S3.
