Star Trek: Discovery – Jinaal – TV Review
TL;DR – We continue our quest in Trill, where all may not be what it seems, and the game of politics continues. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 3.5 out of 5. Disclosure – I paid for the Paramount+ service that viewed this episode. Star Trek: Discovery Review – As we fly through the galaxy on this quest, it has been interesting to see just how much this season of Discovery is linking itself back to the past…

Spellbound Trailer
Fifteen year-old Cece Parker Jones relocates to Paris after being accepted to the Paris Opera Ballet School. Psych, nope an "administrative error" means that all the kids have to reapply since the school is apparently not got enough integrity to honor their acceptance letters. In addition, Cece and her friends find a book of spells in Cece's Aunt Ginger's apothecary. Cece unknowingly reverses a protection spell that had been hiding her identity, summoning a nemesis. Now the teen must juggle the pressures of reapplying to the elite school (with an instructor who apparently believes that if one wants to dance then that is all they must ever think about and train for - really, why would anyone want to go to this place), keeping up with academics, spending time with new friends, and her newfound ability with magic.
Spellbound stars Hailey Romain, Margherita Barbieri, Abigail O'Regan, Etienne Moana, Sam Darius, Zac Gabriel Werb, Raven Dauda, Malou Beauvoir, Rik Young, Cameron James-King, Gomolémo Tsagaé, Imogen Mackie Walker, and Charles Baker.
Spellhound hits Hulu on August 31, 2023.

MEET RAVEN DAUDA, MULTI-TALENTED, MULTI-AWARD WINNING ACTOR/WRITER/DIRECTOR...AND TAEKWANDO EXPONENT!
Whew…what else can I saw about this amazing woman?! I met Raven Dauda over ten years ago when producing/directing a special web series during the Toronto Int’l Film Festival, and have followed her career throughout her stage and screen projects that include…take a big breath….the following TV series: Sue Thomas F.B.Eye, Odyssey 5, The Firm, Rookie Blue, Orphan Black, Heroes…

Late to the Disco
and in anticipation of S5
No, this isn't about how I missed the 1980's dance craze. It's more my thoughts on my second favorite 'Star Trek' series... a series that I've only come to really like in the last fourteen months.
A long-time Trek fan, I eagerly waited for 'Star Trek: Discovery' when I first heard of its production. I had also heard of its darker tone. But, hey, it was still 'Star Trek', right?
So I watched it. Watched it and just didn't like it. It was too dark, both thematically and visually, too angry. Burnham was too unsympathetic, Tilly too immature. It just wasn't 'Star Trek' enough.
With the Season 2 changes, I again tried watching. This time, I mostly enjoyed the show, largely thanks to Anson Mount's Captain Pike. 'Discovery' now felt like Trek, as did many of the episodes. I liked the characters in, and the away missions of 2E01 ('Brother') and S2E02 ('New Eden.'). I loved both 'If Memory Serves' (S2E08) and 'Through the Valley of Shadows' (S2E12) with their tie-back to TOS. They made something  so much more out of Christopher Pike than the little we saw in 'The Menagerie.'
But after the end of S2, with the Enterprise in the distant past, and the same 'ol Discovery characters some time in the farther flung future, my viewings of S3 and S4 were only skim-through binge watches. They were ok, better than S1, but still the show didn't really catch my attention....
Until sometime in early 2023... and I blame it on Raven Dauda's Doctor Tracy Pollard.
I was rewatching Discovery's S2 ending 'Such Sweet Sorrow Pt 2' (S2E14). Its the midst of the battle with Control, there's chaos all over the ship and medbay is being overwhelmed. Doctor Pollard requests additional help from then Captain Saru. Even considering the circumstances, his response is a bit dismissive and certainly less than helpful "Do your best." Pollard's under-the-breath response is wonderful. "No, I'm gonna do a half-assed job, because now's the perfect time."
Oh, this show has snark!
And thus a Disco fan came to be.

Women of Discovery. Even without Sonequa/Michael, what an ensemble!
Michelle Yeoh, Emily Coutts, Mary Wiseman, Raven Dauda (with Emily C again), Rachael Ancheril, Tig Notaro and (personal favourite) Oyin Oladejo from Discovery Season 3, episode 2 ‘Far From Home’.

Star Trek: Discovery – Full Season 4 – TV Review
TL;DR – A season that is equal parts uplifting and frustrating   ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 3.5 out of 5. Disclosure – I paid for the Paramount+ service that viewed this episode. Star Trek: Discovery Review – When I was doing an overview of the site, I realised that there were a couple of missing moments that I was not able to tie up due to things happening at the time. Well, given that today is a public…

Dr. Tracy Pollard
I love Pollard. More Pollard in S3, please, please, please. What’s better than the standard one snarky, sassy, sarcastic doctor on a star trek ship?  TWO snarky, sassy, sarcastic doctors! Basically want scenes with Hugh and Tracy just being Done™ with everyone.  Got some new Schmincke colours, and wow are they pigmented and legit neon Watercolour + Gold Foil

Finished this little something for the great Raven Dauda. Hope you like it! I love that Culber is back, but I also love that we see more of Dr. Pollard this season. ❤️ The Star Trek doctors are truly awesome.
