More Legion redesigns feat. the Espionage Squad
Thought process for my redesigns under the read more:
So for Lyle I didn't want to change too much because I like his Reboot costume the best, though I think it's a bit bland. A bland design works well for him but he's my fave so I wanted him to have a better costume lol. I decided to go all in on the spy look, it's not like it's a secret anyway so he might as well look the part even more than he already does.
Tinya I wanted to make her look like a ghost, so it's basically a mix between her cartoon design and her Young Justice design. I like how in YJ she's wearing a hoodie, it feels like what a teenage superhero would wear, so I incorporated it into the cape.
Vi is mostly a mix between Retroboot and the cartoon, but I gave her shorts and combat boots as a bit of a callback to 5YL Vi because I love her. Also I wanted her to be visibly shorter than everyone else but I probably overdid it. She's really tiny.
Now you might be wondering, what the hell is going on with Cham's costume? Yeah, me too. He's the one I had the hardest time designing. I don't particularly like most of his costumes, I think a lot of them are pretty generic so I wanted to try something different but I don't think I accomplished what I wanted to do. I thought a really asymmetrical costume would fit a shapeshifter pretty well, and I also wanted to give it a water-like look to it since water doesn't have a shape. Something like Inque from Batman Beyond. But I didn't know how to do make it look good and also make him look like he belonged to the same team as everyone else so it's a bit meh.
And for Luornu I mainly took from the cartoon, now with more triangles. I also decided to stick to the Reboot's color scheme of purple and orange because her powers are more effective if she can trick people into thinking she hasn't split, and that's not doable if each duplicate is a different color. Plus Luornu Neutral is the balance between Orange and Purple and I like the idea of visually representing that by making her both orange and purple.

Reep's 'crush' on Kon was pretty cute ngl.
Kon saved him in the time-stream and Reep was ever afterwards pro-Superboy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Ai laikk him" = I like him ❤️
Tumblr media
"Yoo no thass pairson" = You know this person?
He Immediately checks on Kon to make sure he is okay after a minor scuffle.

When Kon is in mortal danger Reep goes into an absolute rage and is able to break out of the crystal barrier he was trapped in. It also is the only reason why the team survived this because they all got their asses kicked.
Tumblr media
The look on this poor boy's face when they are saying goodbye to him.
Regrettably, Kon is busy flirting with Querl so he doesn't notice.
Tumblr media
Reep is the only one who is really upset he's gone and starts crying over it.
It was these little details that made this series so well done even in the 90s.

just posted chapter 11 of “An Anomaly In Time”
Tumblr media
Chapter summary:
Bart was supposed to meet with the others in the Premiere Building to check on Gar and then head to El Paso to hang out with his friends. Traci had major news to share after all. He’d have to join everyone later though, because someone rang his doorbell.
i.e flashback to the moment the Legion first knocked on Bart’s front door and asked him for help.

if you (like me) are having trouble with these timelines
i made a chart to help me keep it all straight
Tumblr media
TIMELINE #1: The Reach Apocalypse. Overwritten by Bart traveling back to save Flash’s life and expose the Light/Reach conspiracy before the takeover. Bart originates from this timeline. Replaced with...
TIMELINE #2: No Reach takeover, Conner destroys the gene bomb, the Legion averts the Kryptonian-Daxamite conquest. Overwritten when Lor-Zod travelled back to kill Conner before he could inspire the formation of the Legion. Lor-Zod and the three Legionnaires originate from this timeline. Replaced with...
TIMELINE #3: No Reach takeover, the gene bomb is laced with kryptonite,  Conner dies, the Legion is never formed, KNEEL BEFORE ZOD. The three Legionnaires persisted into the timeline because they were close enough to Lor-Zod’s departure to be temporally insulated from change. Overwritten by Tinya saving Conner and stranding them both in the Phantom Zone. Replaced with...
TIMELINE #4: No Reach takeover, the kryptonite gene bomb is assumed to have killed Conner and Tinya, both are in the Phantom Zone. Lor-Zod is trying to free the zone prisoners early, Imra, Reep, and Bart have built a cosmic treadmill into Bio-Ship. Zatanna senses that Conner is still alive. This is the current timeline as of episode 4x19.

November 1989. Launched three months after the end of the previous LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES book, Keith Giffen's "v4" series remains the Legion's most controversial phase. Set five years after the end of the outgoing book, it stripped the gloss from the Legion's future: 30th Century Earth has withdrawn from the United Planets and is sinking into xenophobic, totalitarian isolationism; the Legion has disbanded, its members and allies scattered to the winds. Some characters are dead, maimed, missing, or imprisoned; a few are now collaborators; and the rest are preoccupied with their own problems. Former Legionnaire Reep Daggle (Chameleon Boy), now fabulously wealthy, decides the only solution is to put the band back together, but the universe has problems that may be too big for an organization of aging former teen superheroes.
Tumblr media
Dense, complex, and often quite dark, the storyline begins in medias res, and it takes some time to piece together what's going on (to say nothing of trying to keep straight the no-longer-costumed characters, who have real names like "Rokk Krinn"). However, there's actual substance to reward the effort, and scripters Tom & Mary Bierbaum bring the characters to vivid life. People who enjoyed BABYLON 5, DEEP SPACE NINE, or BATTLESTAR GALACTICA would probably also find much to enjoy here, although those unfamiliar with the Legion may need a cheat-sheet, and it's perhaps best to assume that the series ends after issue #36, the end of the "Terra Mosaic" arc.
This run was frequently hampered by ongoing editorial feuds, not due to its content (although that rubbed many longtime readers the wrong way), but because of issues related to the Legion's lingering ties to Superman, which resulted in a number of further continuity shuffles. Giffen actually quit several times during the run, leaving the Bierbaums floundering (issues without Giffen's name on them are usually a mess), and his final storyline in #38–#40 was an extremely bitter pill that broke the setting so thoroughly that a corrective continuity reset was basically inevitable. After his departure, the Bierbaums remained through issue #50 (and for most of the run of the ill-advised LEGIONNAIRES spinoff book), but with no direction and little editorial support, it was increasingly hopeless. DC eventually opted for an infuriating reboot that scrapped 45 years of Legion history in favor of a return to cutesy teen heroes with silly names. (Giffen's intended resolution wouldn't have been much better; his plan was to eventually reveal that the adult Legionnaires were all clones — as with Marvel's ill-fated Ben Reilly Spider-Clone storyline — which would also have been very dire.) The Legion has never really recovered, despite a further succession of partial or total reboots.

Legionnaires #55
It is EXCELLENT that they decided to show Reep using his powers in ways to help their teammates besides on missions but in testing accessibility and comfort, because they have two members that are non-humanoid with bodies that cannot acclimate to their facility 100%. Chuck, being the amazing architect that he is, makes sure that their new HQ has them in mind and their comfort. It's just a little detail I LOVE.
