so ya boi has been super depressed, like clinically, for way longer than usual and it led to me heading down to the local psych urgent care for an evaluation today

During the eval, which was over zoom, the person assessing me asked me if I keep any "gods or ancestral gods" in the house.

I'm thinking "weird question for a psych eval, but okay sure", and I get about two sentences into describing my weird pagan ways before she leans into her screen and says "GUNS. Do you keep any G U N S or have ACCESS TO GUNS in the house."

so that's probably the funniest thing that's happened to me recently

this disability pride month, stop making jokes about people in wheelchairs standing up or walking.

can I stand and walk? sure, for a short while and with pain. the consequences for trying to be out all day without a wheelchair are that I'll be in bed for the rest of the week, too tired and in too much pain to move.

but the government won't give me my own wheelchair because they have the same attitude as these jokes - I can stand up, so I don't need one. exercise is good for you, you should walk!

it keeps me trapped in the house, unable to do anything more than short stints anywhere without borrowing or hiring a wheelchair - one that causes me pain to sit in and relies on someone to push me (usually with difficulty), because they're not going to have a high-end chair for that sort of thing.

it's not a miracle that a wheelchair user can stand or walk. it's something we should aspire to see more often.

I hear a lot about people struggling to find a diagnosis but here's to my friends who can't stop finding diagnoses:

People with a main condition and many smaller ones.

People with many conditions where none are the "main" one.

People with multiple "main" conditions.

People with comorbidities.

People with conditions that directly cause other conditions.

People whose conditions are mostly or all unrelated.

People with many genetic conditions.

People with many conditions that were triggered by their environment.

People with many conditions of multiple causes.

People whose are prone to injury and heal slowly or incompletely.

People with progressive diseases that have new diagnoses as they progress.

People with conflicting symptoms.

People who need conflicting treatments.

People whose treatments cause new conditions to develop.

People who are done looking for new diagnoses even when new symptoms appear.

People who are disbelieved because of how many diagnoses they have.

this week was actually probably the scariest seizure experience i've had so far i think. mostly because it happened outside late at night and i was out there an hour before anyone noticed. and it's like shit things already were pretty bad but how bad would have it gone if i had been out there for even longer. and it is just a lot. to have to think about "okay so this could happen at any time at any moment. if you are alone what are you going to do" and have to try to start planning. cause like. there are so many situations where i am alone bc i like. i have to go to work. i'm going to go grocery shopping. i just go out in public alone like. and it just isn't feasible for someone to constantly be with me. idk. i don't really know what to do but i'm trying to figure out anything i can do to make it safer so that i don't end up lying outside in the snow for over an hour again.
