The way you craft the characters is incredible and feels so realistic. Valentine’s Day is coming up and was curious if there could be a potential head cannon for our fav couple or how each spend their days including ReiKasa, Porco/Pieck, even Gabi and Falco!!!

Fic AU : As You Are

ft. Falco x Gabi & Porco x Pieck

Falco x Gabi (Falbi)

Valentine's Day, according to Falco, is a day when people share their love for one another. Unfortunately for Gabi, she thinks it's just a day when people acts super weird & corny. According to Porco, horny *snorts*

But, it's also a day where there will be a special fair hosted in Liberio with many fun things to do, cool things to see and many delicious things to eat - like pizzas, burgers and ice-cream!

That year, Falco told Reiner that he'd like to ask Gabi out and take her to the fair, to which Reiner agrees to chaperone their little outing/'date'.

Falco woke up early that day and brought a paper flower that he made using the art of Origami, which Mikasa had helped him with the day before. According to Mikasa, paper flowers lasts forever but Gabi was too oblivious of the young boy's well-hidden message.

Reiner and Mikasa accompanied the children to the fair where they got on the carousel rides together. Reiner even bought the children balloon animals, popcorns and sweet treats like caramel apples and chocolate-dipped pretzels. They had a great time at the petting zoo, bobbing for apples and tagging along with Reiner and Mikasa into the Tunnel of Love boat ride.

Apart from sharing the same birthdate, Falco shares the same love for ice-cream with Mikasa. They both bonded over the shared enjoyment of that creamy, cold vanilla goodness.

Falco goes to the shooting range to win a giant soft plush for Gabi, but Gabi is too competitive to allow Falco to beat her at her forté - no scope shooting. They ended up having won four big ones instead.

Falco and Gabi, with Reiner's permission/supervision, got to stay outside after dinner time. They joined the adults for an open air classical romance movie screening for the first time ever in Liberio's town. They had a nice picnic mat spread out with some snacks and drinks until both the children fell asleep in the second half of the movie. Reiner ended up carrying Gabi home and Colt came by to bring Falco back with him.

Despite their continuous bickering, Falco and Gabi had an amazing time together. With Mikasa's help, Gabi bought a small falcon-shaped pin as a present for Falco which the boy really loves.

Porco x Pieck (PokkoPikku)

In the morning, Porco took Pieck to the bee farm and sunflower farm. Porco almost got stung because he forgot to close the visor of his bee suit much to Pieck's amusement. They both had a lot of fun diving in the sunflower beds.

Pieck wants to do something new and fun that year so after lunch, Porco took her to a vineyard in the outskirts of Liberio. They learnt how wines are made, Pieck even get to squash grapes in a giant tub and they got to do some wine tasting with cheese platters.

Porco took Pieck to the seaside later that evening to catch the sunset and enjoy the evening breeze together.

For dinner, Porco took Pieck to his favorite steakhouse where they shared a giant Meat Lover's platter.

They went to the military's watering hole where a Valentine's Dance night was hosted. They went dancing and had another round of drinks for a nightcap.

Reiner x Mikasa (ReiKasa)

Reiner volunteers to chaperone Falco and Gabi's outing, therefore he also saw that as an opportunity to take Mikasa out for a date and leisure in Liberio's town. He got speechless the first time he saw Mikasa in that beautiful light blue sundress. She doesn't wear jewellery but he thought she looked beautiful with a single blossoming frangipani slid in between her ears and that she smelt amazing.

They took the children on carousel rides and the Tunnel of Love rides. They snuck in quick kisses inside the dark tunnel when the children weren't looking. They don't hold hands in public but Reiner would always make sure he has a hand on the small of her back so he wouldn't be separated from her in public.

Reiner discovers that Mikasa enjoys ice-cream very much that he bought three different flavors for her in the morning, afternoon and dinner.

Reiner also learns that he and Mikasa both really enjoy trying new or rare cuisines.

When they catch the classic movie in the open air viewing under a sky full of stars, Reiner spent more time admiring Mikasa's face more than actually watching the movie itself. They held hands the whole night. He draped his long overcoat on her and Gabi to keep them both warm.

Mikasa loves the fresh clean smell that Reiner always has after he shaves and that day before they go to the fair, Reiner made sure he has a fresh trim with his razor. She showed her appreciation by rubbing the side of his jaw or leaning much closer to his face more often than usual on that day.

She loves sharing an ice-cream with him. She also noticed that they like to take a bite on the spot where the other's lips had been.

She enjoys accompanying the children on the rides and found herself laughing more than she's ever had in one day. She also secretly admires the way Reiner had been so naturally fun and loving with the children.

Both her and Reiner found themselves stammering and flushing so hard when other fair attendees mistaken Falco and Gabi as their children. Gabi accidentally calling Mikasa "mom" wasn't helping either. Reiner jokingly reassured her that it would be a good practice drill for the two of them.

She discovers that she and Reiner both love dark chocolates and fried street snacks.

It makes her weak in the knees everytime Reiner leant in to sneak her a swift kiss on the forehead in public. She also loves that smile on his face whenever he saw Falco and Gabi got into their competitive mode. He said it reminded him to when they were young cadets in Paradis and that he's always been proud to be the 'number 2' to her 'number 1'.

In the evening, she gave him a surprise gift: a custom kerchief that she had self-embroidered with a monogram of the letters R & M; the initials of their first names.

They ended that night just holding hands while gazing deep into each other's eyes until they fall asleep.

Hello my dear Aka! Thank you so much for the lovely Ask 🥀 The answer to your question would be (without a doubt):

As You Are was first born on August 31, 2018. When it was first published, I had no idea how big it would really be several years later down the lane. There are a lot of reasons why this fic holds a very special place in my heart, but the following would be the ones that resonate to me the most:

1) It explores the potential significance that Mikasa's Hizuru bloodline would have had, but was not given as much room for expansion in the source material other than introducing an ally to the island. I adore Mikasa and I always hope to see her be reunited & surrounded by her Ackerman and Azumabito kin in the course of things. But since we did not get to see that in source material, I'm really looking forward to explore that in later chapters.

2) When the first chapter was published, I had no idea who's not going to make in the manga, boy am I glad I stayed true to my original vision. I really wanted to explore an alternative to the source material's happening where a truce between Marley & Paradis be negotiated (with Hizuru as the mediator through Mikasa's position) to fortify the 50 year plan & beyond. Mikasa could have been a character that has a lot to offer through her independence (she did it once in Trost, I want to see her taking a similar initiative as a leading figure again) I also want her to have all the opportunities she wasn't allowed to have in the source material because she's more than what was delivered by the end of the manga's final volume.

3) Reiner and Mikasa together are an unstoppable force if given an opportunity. I want to explore them together as a combined unit representing two major nations in the world map.

4) Through AYA, I have made new, cherished friends who shared more than fandom discourse with me. This story has also opened the pathway of RK's many possibilities. I have also had the privilege of having a direct, personal conversation with readers who are hardcore shippers of canon ships (will not cite which for obvious reasons 😆) who had shared how they have fallen hard for this OTP through accidental reading of AYA. I feel happy to know that AYA has a magical power of inclination and persuasion 🤣

5) AYA's only completed Act I, but it is blessed with a number of kudos that I'd never dreamt it would ever received! Thank you to every one of my readers for their continuous interest & support.

6) Hange-san lives. My preferred endgame OTPs will too, be delivered and achieved through AYA ❤

7) The significance of Reiner & Mikasa's healing powers towards each other will be unraveled more and more. Through that place of deep need and darkness, there will be the light that shines to balance it out. They both have been deeply affected by Eren's actions, apart from Armin. Reiner & Mikasa had unfortunately been at the receiving end of Eren's personal terrorizing action (Mikasa at Niccolo's restaurant, Reiner in the underground basement), that they will find the soothing emotional anchor in the other without them realizing it.

8) Reiner's duality & his psychological turmoils; if it had the reciprocal, continuous support from someone who would embrace it with her whole heart?

9) Mikasa's devotion & her emotional strength; if it was embraced openly (with pride) by someone who would appreciates it the most?

Edit: 10) Mikasa having a mother and a family again through Reiner's 😉

I love your headcanons so much and I don’t know if you’ve ever done one of these, but I’d really like to imagine what it would be like if Mikasa and Reiner fell in love after the end of the manga, what this discovery would be like and how they would deal with this!

(Forgive me for my lousy english hahaha)

Hello dear, thank you for the Ask! 💖 It really helps me to envision a more ideal post-ending universe because the potential ending right now does not look promising that both of them will somehow survive (together) because I am foreseeing one of them voluntarily dies to save another person. I hope i'm wrong! 😢 I've only done a tiny snippet of ReiKasa in this Post-Rumbling HC AU. But, here's what I envision how it could possibly be IF they survive & they happen:

Reiner x Mikasa (ReiKasa) Post-Rumbling AU (Gen) Headcanon #16

Before we delve into Post-Rumbling period, it's interesting to observe the tiny moments where the seeds of trust and possibly, love between these two former enemies turned allies might have possibly begun sprouting.

The Rumbling

We've seen the way Reiner had implied on the plane in ch.133, how Eren might want to be stopped by someone. Reiner was using himself as a pretext; an example. If HE was the one with the FT & somehow finding himself unable to control it, he'd want to be stopped by someone he knows is capable of doing so (someone more powerful & stronger than he is) When he said that sentence, he was gazing at Mikasa.

There are 2 implications here, i) He is indirectly admitting in front of everyone that Mikasa is his weakness, like a failsafe. The one he knows who can take him down if he's the one with this enormous power & he's losing control, ii) Because to him, ever since they were younger, Eren is her family & a sensitive subject to her. Him voicing out his opinion and indirectly hinting that Eren is beyond the path of no return will hurt Mikasa's feelings & emotional state.

During the Paths Intermission, the moment Eren basically told the alliance to go fuck themselves, that he will keep moving forward for his freedom, while the alliance members are free to fight him if that is what they want; Reiner was horrified to know that Eren basically confirmed his deduction & how much pain and devastation Mikasa would be in upon receiving the awful truth from Eren himself. Even after pleading to Eren to let her share the burden of his sins, which as direct as it could have been to "I don't want to be so far from you. I want to be with you through both light & darkness inside of you. Please come back to us." Mikasa still believed that the previous Eren that she knew is still there somewhere, which is no longer the case.

The shock-induced tears in Mikasa's eyes - seeing her in pain, hurts Reiner too. He'd knew how heartbroken she would be.

In Ch.135, when everyone was on the verge of dying as they're losing the battle with the raised forms of past titan shifters, Mikasa reached her breaking point & Reiner felt helpless, because he was at his last limit & Mikasa was planning to make herself the primary target just to buy the rest a little bit more time.

There's this woman who's fighting towards an expected death in front of him - any man would be an idiot for not seeing how foolish yet selfless and brave this last female warrior of Paradis was. She's always been a fearless woman who has their backs and protects their fronts. He has never stopped respecting this woman. This might have been the starting point for that seed to have sprouted inside Reiner.

If Annie's timely rescue never came and they truly met their end there, the only regret Reiner has was he couldn't do anything else but watch this woman's final moments without being able to do anything to support her before his own ensuing end.

When Levi, Jean and Connie all collectively & firmly agrees that killing Eren is the only thing that stands between the world's survival, Reiner was silent the whole time. He believed he has no right to say anything, but he saw the vulnerable look on her face the moment Jean reiterated their ultimatum: "We need to kill Eren."

Reiner did what he does best: he took charge. When Reiner told her, "You go help Armin." He was indirectly telling her, "You do what you can. I will shoulder your burden with Jean. Let me be the strength for you to do what needs to be done." This was Reiner's way of telling her, he will carry her burden for her and shelter her from an unbearable pain. Just like how she told Eren much earlier in Paths. Reiner's indirectly telling Mikasa that she's important to him too.

This was the moment that the seed had sprouted within her heart. She realized that Reiner's communicating to her in the way only she would understand. How much she feels for Eren, Reiner feels for her in the same way because you can't give a reason why you care for or love someone. You just do. It just happened without signs. Annie, however, was able to catch that short but impactful interchange between them.

Post-Rumbling

They barely survive the last stand against Eren's final form but they did with Ymir's divine intervention in Humanity's New Dawn.

Reiner sustains extremely heavy injuries on his physical body. Mikasa is emotionally & psychologically affected by Eren's true death.

The remaining humanity struggles to rebuild from the ashes of destruction. It was beyond devastation. The world is almost completely annihilated but hope is a powerful energy. Hope persists.

Reiner sees her grieving - like a pair of wheels suspended in motion - trapped while the rest of the world moves around her. She refuses to eat, she barely sleeps but when she does, she would toss and turn around restlessly. Annie tells him in passing that when Mikasa sleeps, her body contorts and freezes simultaneously like she's in a lot of pain.

Seeing her drifting through the days like a soulless vessel pains him a lot. No one could humanly survived what she had to go through without serious ramifications towards her emotional and psychological state. Mikasa becomes withdrawn and sullen.

Yet, he retains his distance like he always does & watch silently from the sides as Annie, Armin & Jean tried to reach out to her to no avail. Reiner himself is haunted by his failed attempt to hold the Founder's original form down that, in a way, had forced Mikasa to do what needs to be done. He feels responsible that he couldn't prevent her from having to go through those painful yet pivotal moments of securing humanity's survival. The day the alliance managed to save the world, well, the world that she built for Eren inside her heart was destroyed in return.

One day, she mysteriously disappears without trace. A panicking Armin searches on his own but Annie tells Reiner that Mikasa's missing, nowhere to be found. Reiner and Armin later found her at the crater where Eren's last resting place had been. The exact same location where she had to slay him with her own two blades.

Mikasa says that she just feels lost and empty. Like there's a huge dark void inside her body that she can't escape from. She just sits there amongst the dust and debris, staring blankly at a makeshift, unmarked grave. She confides that she's terrified of falling asleep because she sees Eren's face in her nightmares.

Armin wants to console her but Annie holds him back as she notices Reiner already making his way forward and settles himself next to her. Armin understands what Annie was trying to do.

Reiner only tells Mikasa, "You don't have to do this alone...Lean on us." He offers his hand, despite knowing she wouldn't even touch him. "When you feel that you can no longer breathe, I'll breathe for you. If you feel like you're drifting, I will hold you."

It takes her a while but she accepts his hand and he holds it tight in his. Reassuring her that he is here to stay for as long as she needs him to be.

Little either of them know that it would possibly be forever.

It is Annie who helps to bridge these two together with Armin's help.

Ever since the day they talked, Mikasa slowly finds herself regaining an ounce of strength. Reiner talks a lot to her and offers his silent company as they go for walks together so she does not feel alone.

Reiner makes sure that he'll check in with Mikasa from time to time when he's not supporting the remaining forces with rebuilding, too frequent not to be noticed by everyone close to them in the survivor's settlement. However, none of them questions him about it. It is an understood, unspoken notion that Reiner cares a lot about Mikasa, and her for him eventhough she's being subtle about it. Armin could see Mikasa's eyes lit up whenever Reiner is nearby.

Mikasa shares a living space with Annie and Pieck. When her night terrors get too much that Mikasa thrashes around, screaming in pain despite being in a deep sleep, the two former shifters know that they couldn't possibly restrain the Ackerman girl physically on their own. They called for Armin, Jean and Reiner for help. When Armin and Jean hesitate to hold her down, it is Reiner who holds her tight even when Mikasa's unconsciously trying to struggle against him. They could see Reiner's face holding back his own physical pain from fighting against the immense resistance coming from her. But he'd never released his hold until she eventually wakes up and calms down. He stayed with her until the break of dawn.

After that night, however, Reiner seems to be pulling himself away from Mikasa as he couldn't get over his guilt and his helplessnesss as he also didn't want Mikasa to think that he's trying to take advantage of her vulnerability. The problem is, when he avoids Mikasa, she reverts back to the darkness she's slowly overcoming with Reiner's help and he's becoming miserable himself.

This frustrates Armin, Annie, Jean, Levi and even Pieck because it was fairly obvious to everyone but the two people in question that both Reiner and Mikasa are self-sabotaging and self-punishing themselves from pursuing something more than friendship despite their beating hearts calling out for each other.

Mikasa feels she's betraying her memories of Eren and she's afraid of moving on lest she would forget about him. Reiner feels he has no right to offer Mikasa anything more than friendship because she deserves someone better than him.

Mother's Intuition

Reiner's mother, Karina, finds herself naturally drawn to this young woman who seems to have her son's attention, even when he's trying very hard not to be obvious about it. She catches Reiner staring (longingly, she dare say) at the female warrior of Paradis from afar.

Apart from Mr. Leonhardt's daughter, she too, helps to bring her son and Mikasa closer. Karina has witnessed this woman's bravery and have heard from both Gabi and Reiner of her selflessness when she had saved both her son and her niece's lives. Through Reiner's story, Karina sympathizes with the pain this young woman is going through.

Reiner tells her that he feels helpless that he isn't able to help Mikasa and that she hasn't been eating well. Therefore, Karina brings her homemade meal and visits the young woman, wanting to get to know her better. Mikasa doesn't want to be impolite and relents to having the sudden company.

However, the moment Karina holds her hands to offer her comfort, Mikasa breaks down. She had lost 3 mothers/maternal figures in her life: her own, Carla & Hange. For some odd reason, she feels grateful to have an opportunity to be held by a mother again, even if it wasn't her own.

Karina finds herself growing fond of this young woman and deep inside believes that Mikasa and her son are meant for each other.

It is Karina who advises Reiner to fight for his own happiness and her mother's intuition tells her that his feelings isn't as one-sided as he thinks. Karina urges her son to tell Mikasa how he really feels and after all the years of fighting wars for Marley, Reiner needs to fight one last war: the one within his own heart and to win the heart of the one woman who had conquered his.

However, the relief entourage that arrives from Hizuru, led by Kiyomi Azumabito prevents him from telling Mikasa how he truly feels. He knows that she is destined to become the new empress of Hizuru and that her future would be brighter without him being in her way.

Mikasa tells him of her decision to ascend the imperial throne and Reiner feigns happiness for her decision, reassuring her that she will make a great empress and that she would have a better future there. Mikasa takes Reiner's words as him indirectly telling her to move on with her life without him in it.

Reluctantly, Mikasa leaves for Hizuru. Karina is upset that her son is still sacrificing himself & his own feelings even after being relieved of his Titan powers and its curse.

Karina tells him, "You've lived your life for me and for our family, Reiner. Now it's time for you to live for yourself."

Reiner thinks he's lost the only chance he still has left as Mikasa is already en route to the East Sea country. It is Armin who tells him that the Azumabito's ship is still docked at the nearest harbor because Armin has suspicions that Reiner will change his mind.

When Reiner, Armin, Jean and Annie reach the harbor, the sun is almost setting and Reiner finally revives his dwindling courage to tell her how he truly feels about her and he would like to remain by her side if she'd allow it.

Kiyomi forewarns Reiner that if he is serious about her kin, then he would have to sacrifice his newly-found freedom from being a soldier and titan shifter to become prince consort to their new imperial monarch.

Reiner only says, "I am as good as dead without Mikasa and my freedom means nothing if I'm spending the rest of my life without her."

In the sunset of the New World built from ashes, the two young loves finally seize the courage to pledge their hearts to one another with a kiss; the first of the many in their life together, which is only beginning.

There were originally two Asks for this but the draft got deleted by accident. To the two anons, I am so sorry 🙈 I also spent quite some time on it, so I had to rewrite everything all over again. But the Asks wanted to know what happens after their confession & their lives together afterwards in Hizuru, their courting process, marriage, kids & what Reiner does for a living when Mikasa ascends the imperial throne as the new Empress.

Aftermath of Confession

Jean, who was also there with Annie & Armin, was very happy to see that two of his loved ones are finally embracing each other's feelings. He asks the new couple, "So, what's next?

Reiner looks into Mikasa's eyes and says, "For now, I just want to make out with the new most important woman in my life."

Annie sneakily jabs, "Get a room."

Reiner snarkily replies, "Good idea," causing Mikasa and Kiyomi both to panic before Reiner adds, "It was a joke, ladies."

"Jerk." Annie grins, as she holds her paramour's hand tight in hers. One could also see the look of pride and happiness on Armin's face, upon realizing that his sworn sister is genuinely loved by a good-hearted man, who would be her true anchor & life companion after the horrors she was forced to go through.

Reiner immediately approaches the Azumabito family matriarch and asks for her blessing and advice with the intention to officially court her kin. Kiyomi states that once Mikasa ascends the throne, the rules of Hizuru forbids the empress to marry a commoner but the spouse of a married ruler who ascends the throne will be recognized as the empress or prince consort. Thus, Kiyomi advises for their courting to proceed after the marriage, which will be held in a week.

Reiner and Mikasa, together, also talk to Jean and Armin in making it a triple wedding instead.

As soon as they return to the settlement, Reiner wastes not a second as he also looks for Levi, to get the older man's blessing as his soon-to-be wife's last living kin on her father's side.

Levi shakes his hand, albeit sternly, to which even Jean and Armin would cower in reflex, yet no one can miss the tender look in their former captain's eyes; one of a proud father when he said, "Be true. Be loyal."

Karina, Gabi and the rest of the Braun family are over the moon over the news of their immediate engagement & the family spearheads the wedding preparation together. The men go out to hunt and the women help with the simple but homely decoration as well as cooking preparations. Connie prefers to help the women and part of the reason is he's really interested in getting to know one of them; a single lady who had adopted 4 children whose parents were killed in the Rumbling.

The evening after Reiner had received Levi's blessings, Mikasa asks him out for a stroll around the settlement. Reiner also wants to spend more alone time with her. Teary-eyed, Mikasa confides in Reiner on everything that happened during the moment when she decapitated Eren's head, a truth that she has never told anyone. Not even to Armin. She told him that she placed her lips on Eren's cold dead ones to say her last farewell and that she is haunted by what she has done ever since. She is scared & terrified of what she has done and she feels she is being unfair to Reiner because of how 'broken' she is from within. Mikasa also says that she understands if Reiner wants to call off their wedding because he deserves to be happy with someone who doesn't have immense emotional baggage like she does.

Reiner, wordlessly, only holds her close in return. Mikasa almost flinches but she gradually allows the shackles inside her head go. However, she isn't able to return Reiner's physical affections as yet because of the unbearable guilt she still holds, thinking she is unworthy of Reiner's genuine love.

Reiner also confides that he has his emotional baggages himself; namely the day he tried to shoot himself in the head right before the assault in Liberio. Reiner also shares the reason why he has stopped thinking of dying, in particularly, the moment he realizes he did not want to give up on life so easily was the second he saw Mikasa's helpless face when the alliance decided to kill Eren. He accepts if Mikasa refuses to proceed with their wedding, but he would still follow her to Hizuru and be by her side - even as a friend.

At that moment, they both realize one fundamental truth: all these horrors they had to go through especially together only made them even more compatible with each other. No other man could ever understand and love Mikasa the way she is. No other woman could truly understand and love Reiner the way he is. They were both broken, emotionally weighed down but the strength they each needed was in the other all along.

Reiner and Mikasa are indeed two odd-shaped puzzle pieces who turn out to be a perfect fit after all.

That night, Reiner makes the first pledge to Mikasa way before his wedding vows: He will love her and make her happy for the rest of his life. He will never give up on her. Not even after death.

Wedding

The wedding had been a simple but a merry affair. Falco had been the ring-bearer & Gabi the flower girl.

Kiyomi had a craftsmaker from Hizuru and a blacksmith from Marley to make wedding bands from melted 3DMG blades and titan crystals for the three couples.

Kiyomi had found beautiful western-style white silk dresses in the Azumabito family's garments chest on the main ship. The brides, along with the help from Gabi, Karina and her sister, personalize the dresses according to their preferences.

Mikasa wears an ankle-length princess cut dress with tight long sleeves. She embroidered the hem with forest green trimmings (her new favorite color) and sewn gold laces and ribbons on the wrists and neck to match the color of Reiner's eyes. So as the gold teardrop stone on her silver headpiece. Reiner wore a matching white dress shirt and dark pants with a long beige overcoat, with a silver garnet tie to match the colors of his bride's beautiful eyes.

Annie wore a shin-length bell-shaped dress, with a sky blue drape silk wrap across her shoulders and sky blue hair ribbon to match the color of Armin's eyes. Armin wore a crisp beige coat with a light blue dress shirt and a matching dark blue bow tie.

Pieck, who's already 7 weeks pregnant at that time, wore a long halter bare-back dress, with a flowy dark purple ombre gradient skirt and a violet satin waistband, which matched Jean's bowtie and suit vest. He paired it with a crisp dark brown full suit.

Annie & Pieck were walked down the aisle by their respective fathers. Levi was the one who accompanied Mikasa down the wedding lane to Reiner.

Reiner was just captivated - he had tears in his eyes the moment he saw Mikasa in her wedding dress. He immediately kisses her hand when Levi gave her away.

Reiner & Mikasa's vows brought the guests to tears. Reiner vowed that he will always place Mikasa's life & needs before his and will always be with her through every second of their lives together - side-by-side, not behind her or in front of her. Mikasa vowed that Reiner will always have not only her heart but her whole life, in which their souls are bound for all eternity.

When they shared their first kiss as husband & wife, Mikasa truthfully savored & surrendered her heart to her first true love's kiss with Reiner.

Since Captain Levi was injured, it was Armin who sweetly offered his hand for Mikasa's father-daughter dance, as her sworn brother.

At the reception, Connie, being the best man to all the grooms jokingly said to the three of them, "You boys might have been married first, but I already beat you guys in being a dad," proudly proclaiming while cradling his adopted 3-month old baby girl in his arms.

Wedding Night & Courting

That eve of the wedding, Reiner had been a perfect gentleman and he wants Mikasa to know that they will always be each other's equal. He only asks her to take the lead when it comes to the physical intimacy in their shared life & they will only consummate their wedding when she is ready.

Reiner & Mikasa spent their wedding night just talking & reminiscing about their time as 104th cadets and positive memories of everyone they know until they fell asleep in each other's arms. Reiner wanted Mikasa to remember only the good memories with Eren and that night, Mikasa had a minor night terror but Reiner's embrace helped calm her down as he helped her back to sleep.

The next morning, Reiner & Mikasa spent their time helping the resident cooks in the main kitchen with breakfast. Reiner likes to sneak in quick kisses on Mikasa's forehead in between the kitchen chores & despite not being able to fully initiate physical affections towards Reiner, Mikasa have become more comfortable in accepting Reiner's physical affections without being subconsciously defensive.

They spent the next several days together by doing domestic chores around the settlement in particularly, they discovered that they both share the same enjoyment towards harvesting in the fields. Reiner loves seeing the peaceful expression on Mikasa's face underneath the sun when she's working hard at plotting soil for the vegetable roots. He never stops seeing her as the strongest, most beautiful woman in his life.

They both went on evening walks with Falco & Gabi and stargazing at night. Sometimes they would talk, sometimes they would just sit in silence while holding each other's hands. They also discussed on their near future plans in settling down in Hizuru, bringing Karina with them so they can still take care of her together.

Reiner carries her from the main walkway to their shared unit every single night, much to Armin & Annie's amusement and Mikasa's horror. But by the third night, Mikasa had become more relaxed and she leant on Reiner's sturdy shoulders, accepting his comfort naturally.

Reiner also loves giving Mikasa surprises - whether it's a wild flower, a ripe edible harvest or any interesting things that he found while he was out helping at the fields.

Reiner's honesty, diligence and romantic wooing won Mikasa's heart and the last evening before they left for Hizuru, they finally consummate their marriage. That night, he carried her all the way to bed and they never left until they woke up in the morning. Reiner spent the whole night just worshipping every inch of his wife's body and never took his eyes off hers when they made love for the first time.

Life in Hizuru

As soon as they docked in Hizuru, Reiner & Mikasa, respectively, went into an immediate intensive training to prepare them for the duties & expectations of the imperial throne. Mikasa, to prepare her as an Empress and Reiner, to prepare him as her prince consort, especially him being the first non-Hizurian blood to sit on the imperial throne.

Reiner also voluntarily enlisted with the Hizurian naval forces to learn the new ropes of being a sea military member, as oppossed to land. It wasn't long when the higher-ups took notice of his exceptional skills, natural leadership & battle experience, that he was made an Admiral in training within three months of his enlistment.

Reiner & Mikasa had to spend the first few months apart and that made the newlyweds miss each other even more.

During this temporary separation, Reiner and Mikasa had been writing love letters to each other, everyday without fail. Karina made sure that her daughter-in-law would never feel alone & she always helped Kiyomi in supporting the empress-to-be so it would not be a lonely, isolated period for Mikasa while she's being separated from Reiner.

Reiner & Mikasa were only reunited a week before their enthronement, which was held six months after they arrived in Hizuru. Everyone of their loved ones in Fort Salta's residence had been invited as the royal guests. Despite having challenging pregnancies as former female shifters, Annie and Pieck wouldn't miss the opportunity to support Mikasa & Reiner's historical day as they officially become the new age imperial monarch of the East Sea country. Pieck went into an early labor during the visit. Jean & Pieck's eldest son was born in Hizuru.

Enthronement & the royal Azumabito (Ackerman-Braun) family legacy

Mikasa's royal title is Her Imperial Highness Empress Mikasa of Azumabito.

Reiner's royal title is His Imperial Highness Reiner Braun Consort to Empress Mikasa.

The first night after Mikasa & Reiner's enthronement, they conceived the firstborn heir to the throne - His Imperial Highness Prince Ryuujin Marcel Ackerman-Braun of Azumabito. In the following years, they were also succeeded by twin princesses, Her Imperial Highness Princess Reina Mathilde Ackerman-Braun of Azumabito & Her Imperial Highness Princess Ryoko Minerva Ackerman-Braun of Azumabito and the second crown prince, His Imperial Highness Prince Ren Mathias Ackerman-Braun of Azumabito.

Mikasa will then make history as the first royal empress who had built the greatest legacy & the strongest, peaceful empire in the world. She is the global icon of world peace & female empowerment, with her husband's neverending love & support.

Reiner is known in history as not only as one of the World's heroes & Eldian consort to the Hizurian empress, but he is the first non-Hizurian naval leader who unites three major nations in the world - through his battlefield intelligence & military prowess.

Under Levi Ackerman's watchful tutelage, Reiner & Mikasa's four children (consecutively their descendants that followed after) have become existential symbol of humanity's unity through the four major bloodlines running through their veins : Hizurian, Ackerman, Marleyan & Eldian from their parents. Each child becoming successful scholars who would continue to fight for humanity in their respective chosen fields; Prince Ryuujin in military & global peace efforts, Princess Reina in women's studies, Princess Ryoko in medicine & Prince Ren in industrialism - all fortifying the legacies their parents have inspired them with growing up.

Hello dear! Thank you very much for the Ask. I'm glad you love the previous argument/make-up headcanon. Since this is a fic AU, do expect some fic!spoilers ahead!

Reiner x Mikasa (ReiKasa) Fic AU (R18+) Headcanon #14

Universe: As You Are

Fights & Arguments

With all the uncertainties & adjustments required of the newlyweds, arguments are to be expected without a doubt. Their challenges extend beyond their shared history as former enemies and political importance.

As seen in ch.12, Reiner is easily triggered or riled up by very specific sensitive subjects. He'll be very vocal, honest and upfront about it but he will also apologize if he steps out of line. He immediately realizes that & Mikasa has been observed to be able to divert his potential anger.

Alter!Reiner, however, oh boy, that is a very tricky situation for Mikasa. There's a whole new set of challenges lies in waiting up ahead down the road. If Reiner would be very open & honest, alter!Reiner is the more silent, passive agressive type. He's like still waters with darkness and danger lurking beneath the surface. While alter!Reiner takes over her lord husband's body, Mikasa would have to tread their communication carefully. She'll be in the constant dark - not knowing to expect when or how he would pull her further into his depths and drown her metaphorically.

Reiner is always a person who is very objective and logical. Sure, he can be a little bit manipulative when it comes to protecting his loved ones, however, when it comes to Mikasa, Reiner is slowly opening himself up by being honest & sincere with his wife.

In this universe, Reiner talks to her, heart to heart to ensure that both him and Mikasa are always on the same page. He understands that they are both shouldering huge responsibilities on their shoulders & they're a team.

Once in Liberio, it will be quite rare for them to have big arguments especially when they have to put up a united front. If they do, they'll do it in private. They would usually be able to meet each other halfway towards the end of their discussion. He might be the Lord of their nation but his Lady has equal rights to decide for their people's importance too.

Reiner, however, has his own weaknesses: self-depreciation & self-sabotaging tendencies. This will frustrates Mikasa a lot but it is their shared growth pains in their relationship.

However, any progress in their marriage will have to face a sudden concrete wall whenever Reiner's extreme self-depreciation tendencies get triggered and his alter holds the reign to his psyche. This alter avoids her like the plague, refuses to communicate & is absolutely making it difficult for their marriage to work smoothly. Mikasa would find herself being in a state of mental purgatory, which would be really ugly but this woman is also not one to be taken lightly. She will sooner learn how to breath under his deep, dark waters.

Mikasa is a physically strong woman but she is also the most vulnerable one emotionally, especially after the traumatic incident with Eren at Niccolo's eatery. But she has made a silent promise on her mother's name that she would not give up on her husband, no matter how hard he pushes her away.

Reiner will find himself growing more passionate towards his wife BUT he also feels he does not deserve to be jealous when he sees other men (especially those with political importance) trying to be extra friendly with his wife in order to win her favor as the East Sea's lady of authority. More often, he would repress his jealousy.

Alter!Reiner, however has a different idea when it comes to unearthing those repressed feelings. What Reiner could not convey, he will express it & that will manifest with the way he acts out on his grievances. (This will be explored further in another R20 post if you know what I mean 😳)

Mikasa would always be the calm one but alter!Reiner will force her to fight his fire with her fire. A litle bit of burning flames is healthy in a union between man and wife. But what happens when it gets a little bit too much?

Mikasa will go through her own mental gymnastics when it comes to accepting Reiner's duality. She will feel that she's married to two different men who share the same body. One who can't get enough of her and one who can't even stand her. She will have to find the point of balance between Reiner's personas.

Making Up

Reiner and Mikasa would discover that hugging things out before potential arguments take place is a good crisis aversion strategy. But, when it comes to these two, they tend to have that inexplicable spark whenever they touch. Therefore, very often their making up turns into making out (sometimes heavy petting and a quickie) *cough* They're married! 🤷‍♀️

Reiner also leaves peace offerings like a single violet or a bouquet of wildflowers on her nightstand after they argued or take her out on a night walk in Liberio's streets or just stargazing on the rooftop of his mother's house.

Alter!Reiner has a little bit of ego and resistance, so they tend to have an awkward conversation after the fallout of a fight. Yes, when Reiner and Mikasa debate to settle their differences, alter!Reiner tends to rile Mikasa up into a more physical altercation in private. No one will get hurt physically as Mikasa will always hold her own immense strength back with him, but it is not pleasant. Their relationship will evolve into another level, however, when a third person is trying to get in between them. Alter!Reiner would unleash the more possessive and territorial side of him. Things will change (for better or worst is yet to be known) as he learns that there's a really fine thin line that stands between lust and hate: love. He will discover that he has finally find his match in this woman - physically, mentally and sexually. Alter!Reiner's version of peace offering will be using Falco & Gabi as messengers because yeaps, his ego, heh.

Thank you very much for the kind, lovely wishes & remembrance 💖 I've been taking advantage of the holy month to just rest and basking in older/new fandoms to switch my perspectives on writing but rest assured that I've been sneaking in at least several paragraphs a day to keep my gears running 🙏

You have an eagle eye, dear! Thank you for your interest in the Parenthood aspect of AYA & for enjoying AYA very much! No doubt, first thing that'll come to our minds would be poor baby Ymir. She's currently in Hizuru under the protection of the Azumabito family, with Levi as her primary guardian. Last in ch.13, Hange will be heading to Hizuru for her retirement. In regards to baby Ymir, we'll get to explore the parenting angle for Levi & Hange. These two retired commanding officer/special units leader will be exploring a different kind of adventure together: parenthood. We'll be seeing them raising a newborn baby as their own through all the joys, tears and bittersweet moments of parenting they never gotten beyond their mentoring of the SC's elite members (JCAM). Can you imagine Levi and Hange co-sleeping with the baby and actually fought the nursemaid over feeding/changing baby Ymir? 🤣 in my AUs, LeviHan deserve to be someone's dad and mum together and that is my tribute to this beautiful OTP of mine.

Meanwhile, for our main couple, ReiKasa's parenthood will be unfolding in 2 stages in AYA. We just concluded ACT I with ch.13.5, where we're already able to see the strengthening bond between Mikasa & Gabi. Gabi is already taking a stand in protecting Mikasa from Reiner's alter. In Act II, we'll see more of this relationship as Gabi & Mikasa's bond draws a parallel with Sasha & Mikasa's sisterhood (heavily referenced in Maria). Reiner himself will be exploring a more laidback bond with the Grice brothers. Especially now that the Warriors Trainee program will be abolished by the Marley government under the new General, Magath's directives. Falco and Gabi are now normal children, having to enrol in formal non-military academics and just being normal tweens again.

Apart from that, in Act II, we will see Karina slowly but surely realizing her errors as a mother and will attempt to make amends with her son. She found her redemption in canon's 139 & I'd like to include that moment in AYA in the course of several months after Reiner and Mikasa's wedding day, especially when she learns of Mikasa's true origins. That deep-rooted indoctrinated hatred will take time but is possible to be removed gradually.

In Act III, we'll eventually get to see the long-awaited part of ReiKasa's true parenting: with their own flesh and blood. The journey of them getting there will be addled with challenges and near ends of their marriage through an almost untimely death. Both Reiner & Mikasa will experience growth as individuals and as a married couple in Act II. They need to become a stronger unit before they're able to raise another human being. The geo-political situation and Reiner's underlying psychological issues will not be making things convenient for these two either. There'd be a million reasons for Mikasa & Reiner to go their separate ways but they'd only ever needed one good reason for them to stay together. Oh yes, we'll absolutely be seeing a pregnant Mikasa! (We are definitely getting our Marleyan + Eldian + Ackerman + Hizurian babies' growth in this universe ✊🏼)

It's almost like the world is saying,

"Stop separating, you are meant to be together."

The above excerpt reminds me so much of ReiKasa in canon or AU which will be presented in AYA. We will see their roles growing from reluctant husband and wife to accepting then back to reluctant and eventually as loving soulmates & parents. This is one of my offered remedies for SnK 139 🥲 (These two make so much perfect sense together & seeing them having a canon ending like that hurts me so much) I look forward to pen all that and more!

Reiner x Mikasa (ReiKasa) Argument & Making Up Canon/Modern AU Headcanon #11

These two would very rarely fight because their minds are on the same wavelength effortlessly. If they do argue, they tend to have a chicken vs egg debate/discussion. Meaning it'll always be a win-win situation.

Argument/Fighting

Reiner tends to take lead in their discussions naturally and offer the solutions but he's also an amazing listener and observer, which is extremely helpful for someone quiet and reserved like Mikasa.

Reiner's very attuned to Mikasa's body language and facial expression after months of being with her. He knows how to read her emotions wordlessly. When everyone else finds it difficult to decipher what's on her mind, Reiner can read her like an open book. However, this wasn't the case in the beginning of their relationship. Reiner had to be the one who's doing most of the approaching due to her introverted nature.

He pretty much have mastered the art of preemptive crisis aversion when it comes to Mikasa.

However, when a situation gets out of control, instead of going into a full-blown fight, Reiner would be the one to excuse himself and regroup/regulate/ground himself because he doesn't like taking his anger out on someone he truly loves/cares about.

Reiner never lets his ego takes over his arguments with Mikasa and would never disrespect her through actions or words. That is how high he values this amazing woman. He also can't bear seeing her beautiful round eyes glassy with tears because of his hurtful actions or words.

Mikasa gets overprotective over her loved ones, but she has minimal to zero ego or selfishness in her bones towards the very same group of people. However, her weakness is also that she tends to be a little possessive with Reiner but he'd always make sure there's no room for her insecurity to take control over her emotions and would always be truthful with her.

Reiner and Mikasa tend to let a little ego took over at the beginning of their relationship just like any other couple in their adjustment period but has learnt to discard it gradually in time.

Both Reiner and Mikasa are the most selfless people in not only their relationship, but also amongst close friends. In public eyes, they're a strong unit together. Behind closed doors, when they find themselves going into a heated argument (usually because of jealousy), it tends to be borderline foreplay at the same time 😏 These are the only times they'll get 'physical'

Their arguments would never be physical or screaming in the face type of altercation. Their code word for conflict resolution is : "Take it to the council." These two would sit down together, each with a paper and a pen, listing down pros and cons, and the arguments would soon turn to a debate until they reach a mutual ground. Reiner would usually make her face crack into a smile with his quirky comebacks towards the end. To Reiner, even if he lost the argument, it'll always be a win for him when he can turn her frown into a smile.

Making Up

They would never go to bed angry at each other.

It's uncanny, it's like telepathy but they would both tend to say sorry or ask "Are you alright?" at the same time.

One time Reiner and Mikasa had an argument but couldn't find a mutual ground, they both decided it was best to give each other some space and quiet time even after saying sorry to each other. But not for long though, Reiner would always be the first to find ways to break the awkward silence between them later.

(Modern AU) Reiner once did a striptease dance after their quiet dinner, telling her that night the dessert is going to be extra special 😳 Yeaps, she ended up having her dessert with an extra serving of whipping cream right on the kitchen counter. Also, Reiner really does make a mean Panna cotta. She had them both at the same time 😏

(Modern AU) Reiner also plays the guitar and he would sometimes serenade her with "I Wanna Grow Old With You" from Mikasa's favorite movie, "The Wedding Singer" (This was also the song he sang to her before he got down on one knee to pop the big question). He'd give her a backrub later before whispering an "I love you" into her ear. This man would never stop showering her with affections especially after he had unintentionally caused her to be upset.

Meanwhile, Mikasa would bake him his favorite Marleyan meatloaf or salted dark chocolate ganache as a peace offering and would just wrap her arms around his body while silently watches him eat. It calms her so much to see him enjoying her cooking.

In the Ackerman-Braun household, desserts are also their love & apology language because Reiner's a foodie and Mikasa loves to bake.

Sometimes, like most men, Reiner also has these little moments that caused him to overlook her feelings but Mikasa has learnt to open herself up more with Reiner through being more verbally expressive with him, the way he is with her so they would always be on the same page.

They have been granted a fixed residence inside the Azumabito compound in Marley's town (the same one that was referenced in Maria) BUT despite not being close to Karina, Reiner still wants to stay with his mum because she'll be by herself if he moves out & he'd want to spend the remaining time he still has left being close to his family. (But first, that one single bed in Reiner's room has got to go. He alone can't even fit in it! Lord Takeshi will be horrified to see the current state of Reiner's room 😆 That is not even a decent bachelor's pad. Do you remember that scene in ep.2 i checked, it was ep. 3! Ugh Karina can be insensitive) The Hizurian folks will have to do some home improvements first!

Abso-positive-lutely! 😆 Mikasa will help Gabi who wants to plan a surprise birthday celebration for Falco. But Reiner is going to be one step ahead to include Mikasa's birthday as well. Mikasa (this woman had never celebrated before, so she had even forgotten her own birth date) is going to be shook. 2 months later, they will celebrate Gabi's birthday. As for Reiner's, he would have the best birthday gift not only that year but in his life ever. Not one, but two! 😉 Apart from that, Liberio would achieve an independence state status & there will be a National Independence Day. We'll find out when in the future chapters!

Hey Queen, so I was rewatching season 2 of AOT, and obviously, I saw the amazing Reiner and Bertholdt betrayal scene. I couldn’t help but imagine how that scene would play out in the Twilight Blue universe. May I ask for your headcanons of the Twilight Blue universe? I’m also really curious if Mikasa and Reiner would get back together since they teamed up in the manga to defeat Eren. Thanks!

Hello my dear. Thank you so much for the wonderful Ask! Here’s hoping that your weekend has started out great so far. The S2E6 scene is legendary on its own through the nonchalant way Reiner revealed his & Bertolt’s true identity to the Islanders. In the Twilight Blue Universe, it would be a lot more impactful on both Mikasa & Reiner emotionally. The following (super long) headcanon would be what I envision had happened & also, the possibility of them getting back together again in current canon timeline of the manga.

ReiKasa Fic AU Headcanon #4

Universe: Twilight Blue (Note: for this headcanon, the epilogue never took place & the only person who is aware of ReiKasa’s secret relationship would be Bertolt. There's some BeruKasa moments too.) Rhythmic muse included in the links below!

Pre-Reveal

* After the end of Twilight Blue, Reiner & Mikasa had been seeing each other in secrecy. Bertolt would frequently and naturally be the one who provides an excuse for Reiner’s occasional disappearances and he’d also be the one who actually help to switch Reiner’s kitchen or laundry duties so they would coincide with Mikasa’s turn making it easier for the couple to sneak in more alone time together.

* Their relationship continues even when they both enlisted with the Survey Corps.

* Mikasa & Reiner have several secret rendezvous spot(s) : i) the library, right at the secluded area of the fitness books section, ii) the nearby forest for an early morning run, iii) the kitchen storage room. When they've been reassigned to the SC's old headquarters, they frequently snuck into an old attic up in one of the older towers.

* Mikasa can be seen staying longer whenever Eren & Armin hung out with Reiner & Bertolt. It never escaped Armin's perceptive observation that Mikasa seemed to be more sociable only around boys like Reiner & Bertolt.

* During one of their secret trysts, Reiner promised to Mikasa that he'd bring her back to his home in the future to introduce her to his family. He even mentioned this in secret to Bertolt, which the latter protested immediately, arguing that Mikasa would have a horrible future in Marley if they ever take her back with the Founder. She would become their POW or worst, a breeder for the military due to her Ackerman blood. Bertolt reminded him that there are no possible future for them together.

* Since they've been keeping their relationship a secret, Reiner still is flirtatious around the other girls, much to Mikasa's envy. But she wasn't openly expressive of her feelings, therefore only Bertolt was able to tell when Mikasa is bothered by Reiner's behavior around the other female cadets.

* Bertolt would be the one to remind Reiner that he's being overboard but when his best friend apparently 'forgotten' that he's dating the top cadet, Bertolt eventually became the person that offers Mikasa the voice of reasoning.

* Reiner's apparent crush on Krista wasn't taken well by Mikasa. Reiner told her that it was all an act so no one would find out about their relationship. But it didn't hurt Mikasa less everytime he tries to flirt with the petite, beautiful girl right in front of her. It also didn't help that all the other cadets had been gossiping about how Reiner & Krista make a perfect couple, much to Ymir's annoyance as well.

* Bertolt began to spend more time with Mikasa alone, where he also shared with her of his secret feelings for Annie. They both bonded over having to keep their true feelings to themselves. At this point, Mikasa had already see Bertolt as a brother figure, just like Eren and Armin. The other cadets, however, began to suspect the nature of Bertolt & Mikasa’s relationship.

* Connie was the one who suggested that Bertolt & Mikasa had been 'tumbling in the hay' during dinner, when they were running late that one time from cleaning the stables. The way they both blushed & kept quiet only stirred up more rumors, much to Jean & Reiner's annoyance. That same night, after their evening roll call, inside that tiny attic space, Reiner, once again, reminded her on why there would be no other men that could make Mikasa feels the way he does. Part of him was being possessive, part of him was jealous.

* One incident where Mikasa fell off a tree and twisted her ankle to help a stray cat, actually almost caused a rift between Reiner & Bertolt. Reiner only then realized that he had hurt Mikasa's feelings the instant he felt envious when he saw Bertolt carrying the injured Mikasa in his arms. Bertolt asked him, "Why would you care about her?", causing Reiner to recognize that he hasn't been fair towards Mikasa ever since they began dating.

* Bertolt had to remind Reiner that they were not supposed to be attached to anyone on that island but they both know that it was already a line they had crossed.

Reveal & RtS “Say Something”

* The day before the emergency discreet meeting with the top SC officers had also been the last time Reiner & Mikasa had been intimate with each other.

* The night Hange revealed the SC's suspicions of the duo's true identity, Mikasa found it difficult to accept & she had secretly been hoping that their suspicions were untrue.

* When their squad arrives in time to rescue Reiner, Bertolt & the others in Utgard Castle, Mikasa had been worried about Reiner's injury but the way Reiner & Bertolt had been avoiding her gaze somehow confirms her worst fear.

* On top of Wall Rose, Mikasa had been dreading the moment that they're waiting to apprehend the two of them but Reiner's sudden mental breakdown pushed them all to the point of no return. Her hands had been shaking & she hesitated. Their objective was to apprehend them both for questioning, partly because she desperately wanted to talk to Reiner & to get his explanation.

* To say that Mikasa was disappointed that their suspicions were proven true would be an understatement. She was beyond devastated.

* Mikasa actually only wanted to hold Bertolt down so they could apprehend him. But Reiner pushed her off the wall, and this is because Reiner knew that Bertolt & him had to shift and he didn't want her to be caught in the transformation blast.

* The moment Reiner's psyche reinstates back to his Warrior alter, he had temporarily compartmentalized his existing feelings for Mikasa but his heart wouldn't allow him to do so.

* When the SC were chasing after Reiner, Bertolt & Eren, Reiner's heart ultimately broke the moment he heard Mikasa called him a plague of humanity in vain. His heart bled when he'd heard a Titan grabbed Mikasa & he'd heard her screaming in pain but he had to pretend that he felt nothing when it happened.

* Their relationship was as good as dead at that point and the end of the road for both of them, which was a premature, unspoken decision on both sides.

* The whole time when the SC were present during Hange’s introduction & briefing of the Thunder Spears, Mikasa’s brain had been thinking about Reiner the whole time & her feelings were hurt even worst than before.

* She knew they had no choice but to kill them & it didn’t make it even easier for her. It still hurts her to have to use that last Thunder Spear on him. She was still angry at him the whole time Hange was threatening him to explain about the place he came from, their mission & that mysterious letter for Historia. Never she’d expected that it would be the last time she’d ever see his face.

Post-Reveal “It’s Not Goodbye”

* During her imprisonment for insubordination, Mikasa became depressed not only for the fact she now knew that both Eren & Armin have limited years left of living due to the Curse of Ymir, but it was also because of her guilt towards having to watch Bertolt being eaten alive by Armin’s raw titan form and also for a fact that Reiner would also be dying before Eren does.

* When Eren & Armin went to Reiner & Bertolt’s old room to clear their remaining possessions, it was Armin who told Mikasa that he’d kept them in the old attic instead of throwing them away. Mikasa kept Reiner’s old shirt that still has his scent on it from the storage & actually hid it under her pillow. It helped her through her difficult nights.

Time-Skip (Current Canon Timeline) “Love Story” | “Tainted”

* Within that four years, they both had never stopped thinking about the other. It hurts Reiner so badly that he couldn’t allow himself to reminisce all of the beautiful moments he had with Mikasa and could only subconsciously thought of the last moment he’d ever saw her face; her sending an explosive projectile down his Titan’s throat.

* Mikasa had not talked to anyone about Reiner or even once mention his name within that four years. No one knew why she would seclude herself in the attic of one of the headquarters towers every other Saturday.

* Only Sasha knew of Mikasa’s secret relationship years later by accident as during one night, she had overheard Mikasa tossed and turned around in her sleep, calling out for Reiner’s name, her asking why and how could you in her sleep. Mikasa would later wakes up from her nightmare & hides herself in their shared bathroom, crying in the shower.

* The first time she sees Reiner’s Armored Titan again in Liberio, she couldn’t hide the disappointment on her face. She couldn’t even look at Reiner’s direction at all & she realizes that seeing him again still hurts her.

* She was genuinely concerned of Reiner’s safety after the Rumbling was initiated by Eren. Later on, when they were reunited through the Marley-Paradis alliance, all those old memories came flooding back. They both had grown physically & mentally older but the love, it has always been there. The moment she saw his sleeping figure, by gods, she had never known how much she’s been missing him.

* It pained her so much when she saw him being pummeled by Jean because of Marco’s death. Not even once he retaliated or defended himself. She’d never stopped worrying for him the moment he saw him immobilized inside his Titan form at the docks in their confrontation with the Jeagerists. Yet, not even once had she spoken to him directly ever since they were reunited.

* The first time they’ve ever spoken to each other was on the Hizuru steamer en route to Odiha. While Connie was busy tending to the injured Armin in the Medical Bay inside the ship, she helped clean Annie & Reiner’s wounds. “I miss you so damn much.” Were the first words he’d ever spoken to her after four and a half years. She pretended that she didn’t hear him at all.

* She avoided him on the steamer and even when they’re all gathered in the communal area to strategize, she’d spoken to everyone directly, even Annie & Pieck except him. Reiner also saw her observing the conversation Armin was having with Annie on the decks from afar and pulled her into one of secluded hallways to talk & to break the cold silence between them.

* She pushed him away and locked herself inside one of the unoccupied rooms as Reiner knocked on the door from the other side, kneeling and begging for her forgiveness, begging her not to shut him out. Mikasa hated herself even more with every tears that she had shed for both Eren and Reiner.

* Later that night, once they’ve docked in Odiha, Reiner knocked on her door once again to tell her that if tonight is the last night he’d have alive, he just wanted to apologize to her & he just didn’t want to have anymore regrets.

* He begged and he pleaded, “I just wanted to be able to look at you in your eyes and tell you how very sorry I am for all the hurt I’ve caused you and there hasn’t been a day that went by without you on my mind. A part of me died a little bit each day since the day I left Paradis.”

* It took several swings of her fist against his chest, a slap on his cheek and a whispered, “I hate you” from her lips before it met his in a reawakened hunger. Old feelings and sparks reignited between the two former lovers. Inside a tiny bunker room on the Hizuru steam ship, two separated hearts reunited as one once again, so as their bodies.

* Now that Marley is in ruins & her mother is most probably dead, Reiner believes that he no longer has a home to return to. Mikasa disagrees & argues that he still has Gabi and he’d always have a home in her heart. Reiner realizes that if he ever survives their last stand against the Founder in Fort Salta the next day, he’d only wanted to spend the remaining time that he’d still had left alive with Mikasa, raising Gabi & Falco together.

* Right before they both dropped off from the plane to take down Eren’s Founding Titan, Reiner made one last promise to her: he’ll never leave her again & they will both return home together.
