Torchwood Timeline (April 2024)
This is my canon timeline for the Torchwood TV stories, novels, and audio productions. It's fairly similar to the wiki timeline with a few small tweaks. It's also completely spoiler free, unlike the wiki timeline.
Some entries have firm dates, some have months, some have general decades, so I've tried my hardest to fit them into where I feel they fit. If anyone spots anything that I've missed or sees any glaring problems let me know and I'll try to suss it out. New stories will be added as they are released.

365 Albums in 365 Days: 88/365
Tumblr media
Date: Friday March 29th Album: Pola Meets Lyrica Artist: Pola Released: 2005 Genre: Ambient Review: Someone in the comments described this music as ear candy and honestly I couldn’t agree more. There’s an ethereal quality to the music, both naturalistic and futuristic at once, that blends an underwater quality with subtle quirks of lofi and static to create something that feels like it’s out of a dream. It’s more of a feeling than anything, creating environments out of sound that it invites you to explore and simply exist in. This is the ideal music to get into a new headspace, to reflect, and to Be. It’s like meditation music but sexier. Favorite Track: Lievre

This applies to all shows except those in Illinois, Colorado, New York, and Utah where Face Value Exchange cannot be mandated.   “The band and I couldn’t be more excited for these upcoming dates,” shares front man Andrew McMahon. “We’re having more fun together than ever and the generosity of the fans, both online and at last year’s shows, made it impossible not to come back and do a few more. We hope to see you there!”   The core members of the Orange County, California quintet – Andrew McMahon(vocals, piano), Josh Partington (guitar), Kevin “Clutch” Page (bass), Brian Ireland (drums), and William Tell (guitar) – reunited in 2023 for main stage performances at the When We Were Young festival and three sold-out headlining shows in Las Vegas and Anaheim. These five special gigs, their first official shows together in 20 years, left their dedicated fanbase clamoring for more. The reunion performances also saw McMahon debut a one-of-a-kind upright piano fully wrapped in Christie MicroTiles LED displaying images and lyrics from throughout the band’s catalog, slated to be front and center once again on the Out Of Office Tour.    Something Corporate first formed in 1998 when its members were in high school and in a short period of time created quite the stir before going on hiatus in 2005. During its tenure, the highly adored SoCal band released multiple albums, including their major label debut, Leaving Through The Window, in 2002 via MCA Records/Drive-Thru Records, which premiered at the top of the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, and 2003’s North, which entered the Billboard 200 at #24. During its heyday, the band toured extensively worldwide, including a summer on the Vans Warped Tour, graced the cover of Alternative Press magazine, and performed on late-night TV including an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Collectively, Something Corporate – hailed as “one of the most respected groups in the scene with their incredible hooks and emotionally transparent music” (Alternative Press) – has sold over 1 million total records. --- Please consider becoming a member so we can keep bringing you stories like this one. ◎ https://chorus.fm/news/something-corporate-announce-new-tour/

Bongzilla w/ Wizard Rifle & Possum Pot: Live at Grantski Records
Bongzilla is a sludge/stoner metal band from Madison, Wisconsin that originally started performing as a band during 1995-2009. After a six-year hiatus, Bongzilla reunited with most of the original lineup in 2015. The band currently consists of Mike “Muleboy” Makela (vocals/guitars/bass), Jeff “Spanky” Schultz (guitars), and Dirty Mike “Magma” Henry (drums). It is worth noting one former Bongzilla alum (2005-2009) was Dave “Dixie” Collins (Weedeater) who played bass. They have released five (5) LPs, seven (7) EPs and Splits, and four (4) Compilation albums with their last release entitled, Weedconsin, courtesy of Heavy Psych Sounds in 2021. You can also pre-order their newest LP, Dab City, by following this link to Heavy Psych Sounds (release date June 2nd, 2023).
Bongzilla embarked on a Spring tour in support of the release of Dab City on March 10th at Planet Mammoth Fest in Scottsdale, Arizona. Luckily for me, they added my hometown on their way to play Boggs Social in Atlanta, Georgia. What makes this show even cooler for me is that it took place at my favorite local record store, Grantski Records, in downtown Augusta, Georgia. This would be my first time seeing Bongzilla and it was something special seeing them at Grantski Records in such an intimate setting. Earplugs were made for just these moments in life because Bongzilla brought that heavy, sludgy sound that rattled the room from start to finish.
You can hear Bongzilla by following this link to their Official Bandcamp page today!
Wizard Rifle is a two (2) piece progressive metal band that started a band in 2010 and hails from Portland, Oregon. The band consists of Sam Ford (vocals/drums) and Max Dameron (vocals/guitars). Wizard Rifle is a two-piece band that packs a heavy punch that leaves you wanting more. I have not had many chances to see Wizard Rifle perform live, so I cherish those moments when they arrive. I enjoyed seeing so many people at Grantski Records get into their set. You can check out my first review of Wizard Rifle from Acid King’s Busse Woods 20th Anniversary Tour with Warish live from 529 in Atlanta exclusively on Concerthopper.com by following this link.
Want to check out Wizard Rifle? Follow this link to Wizard Rifle’s Official Bandcamp page today!
Possum Rot is a stoner metal band from Augusta, Georgia that formed back in 2017. Possum Rot consists of Matt Poppell (vocals/guitar), Tyler Milford (vocals/bass), and Evan Grantski (drums). They have released four (4) singles to date: “Do It Again”, “Pestilence”, “Smoke”, and “Prisoner of The Dirt”. I am ashamed to say that I have not seen Possum Rot perform before this evening. And sadly, I am from Augusta, their hometown. {face palm} Not all my choices are the right choice sometimes, missing Possum Rot numerous times was not the right choice. Believe me. The best way to describe Possum Rot is what if Sleep and The Melvins had a little Sabbath, sludge metal baby? Then you have the greatness that is Possum Rot. I recommend checking out their socials and giving them a follow: Instagram and Facebook.
Follow this link to Possum Rot’s Official Bandcamp page today and give them a follow!
You can still catch Bongzilla with Wizard Rifle on tour during the following dates:
April 29th Grim Reefer Fest Baltimore, MD
April 30th Saint Vitus Brooklyn, NY
May 1st Alchemy Providence, RI
May 3rd Bug Jar Rochester, NY
May 4th Westside Bowl Youngstown, OH
May 5th Ace of Cups Columbus, OH
May 6th Sanctuary Detroit, MI

Doctor Who Air Date Comparisons,  Series/Episode Stats and Thoughts (that I’m sure people Really care about)
This whole post sparked from a Tweet where someone worked out that in her 2years and 7months as the Doctor (Oct 2018 - May 2021), Jodie has done 22 episodes and after 2years and 7months David Tennant had done 42 episodes..
How many episodes had aired 2yrs 7mos from their first episode? And how long did we have to wait from the 2yr 7mos point for another episode?
Because I think it’s unfair to always compare the current era to Ten’s era (because Ten’s era is known to be the era where the BBC kinda pumped out DW content), I thought I’d compare all the New Who Doctors based on the 2yrs and 7mos thing (minus Nine).
Ten’s first episode - The Xmas Invasion, 25th Dec 2005 2yrs and 7mos later, the last ep that aired was Journey’s End, 5th July 2008 = 42 episodes in 2yrs 7mos (Dec 2005 - July 2008) The wait for the next episode (from July 2008) was 5mos, and DT kicked off his year of Specials, giving us an ep every few months and then 3 episodes fairly close together at the end of the year.
Eleven’s first episode - The Eleventh Hour, 3rd Apr 2010 2yrs and 7mos later, the last ep that aired was The Angels Take Manhattan, 29th Sept 2012 = 33 episodes in 2yrs 7mos (Apr 2010 - Nov 2012) The wait for the next episode (from Nov 2012) was one month for The Snowmen and then 3 months for Series 7B. Making it 3mos between Angels and The Snowmen and then another 3mos between The Snowmen and 7B.
Twelve’s first episode - Deep Breath, 23rd Aug 2014 2yrs and 7months later, the last ep that aired was The Return of Doctor Mysterio, 25th Dec 2016 = 27 episodes in 2yrs 7months (Aug 2014 - March 2017) The wait for the next episode (from Mar 2017) was 1mos until the start of Series 10, making the wait from Mysterio to Series 10 a total of 4mos.
Thirteen’s first episode - The Woman Who Fell to Earth, 7th Oct 2018 2yrs and 7months later, the last ep that aired was Revolution of the Daleks, 1st Jan 2021 = 22 episodes in 2yrs 7months (Oct 2018 - May 2021) The wait for another episode (from May 2021, not counting the 5mos between RotD and now) is unknown but at a guess I’d say we aren’t getting S13 until at least Sept but more likely Nov, making it 4-6 more months before another episode, making it a total of 9-11 months of waiting for a new episode.
The number of episodes released in the first 2yrs and 7mos has gotten smaller with each Doctor. Comparing just Ten and Thirteen makes the episode difference seem way more significant than when you compare all four of them. Although the drop in episode numbers between Ten and Eleven is fairly large and I do still think it is kinda wild how Ten has done almost double the amount of episodes Thirteen has done in the same amount of time. The Chibnall era lover in me wants to say it’s quality of quantity but in reality it’s not that at all.
How many episodes did each Doctor get in total and over what period of time (from their first ep airdate to their last ep airdate)? (Not including the Ninth Doctor because he is an obvious outlier.)
Ten - 47 episodes in 4years and 1week 3 Seasons at 13 eps each and 8 Specials which averages out at about 1 episode per month
Eleven - 44 episodes in 3years 8months 3 Seasons at 13 eps each and 5 Specials which averages out at about 1 episode per month
Twelve - 40 episodes in 3years and 4months 3 Seasons at 12 eps each and 4 Specials which averages out at about 1 episode per month
Thirteen (so far) - 22 episodes in 2years and 3months 2 Seasons at 10 eps each and 2 specials which averages out at about 1 episode every 5ish weeks
The difference is small but it adds up. In order to equal Eleven in the number of episodes Thirteen would need to stick around for a total of 4years and 6months. Not that I’d complain.
General New Who Airing Timeline (Series 1 - Series 12), with how long the wait was between each Series/Special;
Mar 2005 - June 2005; Series 1 (6month wait) Dec 2005; The Xmas Invasion (4month wait) Apr 2006 - Jul 2006; Series 2 (5month wait) Dec 2006; The Runaway Bride (3month wait) Mar 2007 - June 2007; Series 3 (6month wait)  Dec 2007; Voyage of the Damned (4month wait) Apr 2008 - Jul 2008; Series 4 (5month wait) Dec 2008; The Next Doctor (4month wait) Apr 2009; Planet of the Dead (7month wait) Nov 2009; The Waters of Mars (1month wait) Dec 2009 - Jan 2010; The End of Time (4month wait)
Apr 2010 - Jun 2010; Series 5 (6month wait) Dec 2010; A Christmas Carol (4month wait) Apr 2011 - Jun 2011; Series 6A (2month wait) Aug 2011 - Oct 2011; Series 6B (2month wait) Dec 2011 - The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe (9month wait) Sep 2012; Series 7A (3month wait) Dec 2012; The Snowmen (3month wait) Mar 2013 - May 2013; Series 7B (6month wait) Nov 2013; The Day of the Doctor (1month wait) Dec 2013; The Time of the Doctor (8month wait)
Aug 2014 - Nov 2014; Series 8 (1month wait) Dec 2014; Last Christmas (9month wait) Sep 2015 - Dec 2015; Series 9 & The Husbands of River Song (12month wait) Dec 2016; The Return of Doctor Mysterio (4month wait) Apr 2017 - Jul 2017; Series 10 (5month wait) Dec 2017; Twice Upon a Time (10month wait)
Oct 2018 - Dec 2018; Series 11 (1month wait) Jan 2019; Resolution (12month wait) Jan 2020 - Mar 2020; Series 12 (10month wait) Jan 2021; Revolution of the Daleks (5month wait, so far)
IMO, a wait of 6-8 months is reasonable but any more than that kinda annoys me. And that's a 6-8 month wait for either a Series or Special followed a couple of months later by a Series, not 6-8+ months for a Special and then another 6-8+ months for a Series @ Chib's Era. That 12months between Resolution and Series 12 and then another 10months between Series 12 and Revolution is PAIN. And now we’ve got another 10ish months to wait for Series 13. It’s too much. I cannot imagine how good people were living back in the days where it was literally only a few months until you got a new Doctor Who episode.
I think it’s interesting how over time the gaps have got bigger and bigger between seasons. And I can’t say I fully know why that’s happening. Seasons are getting shorter and waits are getting longer. You’d think shorter seasons would mean less of a wait but apparently not.
Obviously right now with COVID, the wait between Revolution and S13 is expected to be 9-11 months but even before COVID got in the way of production, we were already waiting 10months between TUAT and S11 and a full year between Resolution and Series 12 so other than losing a couple of episodes from an already short series, COVID hasn’t got in the way that much.
I do wonder how long the wait was originally supposed to before COVID hit? Because they filmed Series 12 and RotD at the same time in 2019. So I’d assume that without COVID, they would have spent 2020 filming and then given us Series 13 maybe a couple of months after RotD, so like March/April 2021.
One thing I can say about the airing timeline for Thirteen’s era so far is that it’s easy to know how long Thirteen has been travelling with her companions and it’s like I can feel that timeline. Like, S11 and Resolution aired and then a year later in our time we got S12, which was also a year later for the Fam. Then 10months after S12 finished airing, we got RotD which was set 10months after the S12 finished. Idk. I like it.
I imagine that’s going to change once we get Series 13. I’d assume S13 is going to pick fairly soon after RotD ended rather than skipping months of Yaz and Thirteen’s travels. But idk at least something slightly positive I can take out of the ungodly waits between Seasons.
Idk where this post was going but I’ve ran out of things to say so that’ll do. Shoutout to anyone that reads all of this lmao. Hmu with your thoughts if you wanna.

Death Stranding Timeline
I put together a rough timeline for the overarching narrative of Death Stranding. I was able to piece together some parts of the timeline almost approximately, but admittedly, much of it is based on headcanon and conjecture due to parts of the lore being rather scant. Regardless, I tried to make it fun and I utilized invented details to enrich the worldbuilding. I also put together a few paragraphs explaining my methods in obtaining the more approximate dates. I’ve seen people talking about character age headcanons and attempting to pinpoint the duration of the Death Stranding, and I think I got pretty close to the truth with a few of these. Anyway, enjoy, tell me what you think. The full timeline is below the cut.

June, 2015 - President Faulkner creates the government organization ‘Bridges’, which is designed to create a network across the fractured America in order to administer aid to the civilian population. Its other, classified purpose is to research the cause of the Death Stranding and to synthesize potential solutions to the social, economic, and infrastructural issues it has caused.
July, 2015 - John Blake McClane leaves the United States Army Special Forces to pursue a career opportunity as head of Bridges security. Much of Bridges’ security personnel is comprised of military veterans.
August, 2015 - President Faulkner is killed during a voidout that obliterates Manhattan Island. The voidout is caused by the death of a stillmother during the preliminary embryonic chiral experimentation trial runs conducted by Bridges, experiments which would go on to become the blueprints for the ‘Bridge Babies’, also known as ‘BB’ units. The existence of the embryonic experimentation being brought to the public eye causes widespread outrage, and the research is discontinued. Following Faulkner’s death, his vice president, Bridget Strand, succeeds the presidency. While the embryonic chiral experimentation is officially discontinued, President Strand continues it in secret, desperate to discover the secrets of the new element ‘chiralium’ and its vast potential to bolster technological development.
September, 2015 - Cliff and Lisa are hit by a drunk driver while driving home one night after attending a play. Both receive serious injuries, Cliff; a shattered collarbone, humerus, and ulna, and Lisa; severe whiplash and head trauma, which leaves her comatose. Miraculously, the 7 month old fetus is largely unharmed.
October, 2015 - Cliff enrolls his family in an experimental medical care program that promises to utilize state of the art technology to provide them the best chance at recovery, as recommended to him by an old military buddy. An emergency C-section is conducted, and the 28 week old Baby Bridges ‘BB’ is placed in a portable pod synchronized with his mother’s heartbeat.
Bridget Strand acts as overseer of the experiments in secret, under the pseudonym Dr. Samsa. She hides her true identity behind a steel masquerade mask.
February, 2016 - Cliff grows increasingly irritated and untrusting of Dr. Samsa as she continues to avoid his questions and lie to him. BB is kept in his pod long past his due date and prevented from growing through the usage of hormone blockers.
December 23rd, 2016 - When John realizes that Cliff’s family is being harvested for chiral experimentation, he warns Cliff of what is going to be done to them. When Cliff tries to escape the facility with his baby, he and his entire family are killed. Baby Bridges is revived by Amelie on the beach, and he is christened ‘Sam’. Bridget Strand makes the decision to raise him as her own, as he was no longer a BB candidate after Cliff released him from his pod. After this unnatural resuscitation, the laws of nature are made gravely upset. Sam becomes the first repatriate and DOOMS sufferer, one who can travel between Earth and Hades and detect the spectral dead using his 5 senses. The dead, the Beached Things, return physically to the land of the living and claim more human souls, dragging the damned with them as they returned to the other side. Timefall, rain that rapidly ages anything it touches, begins to fall in showers across the American continent.
December 31st, 2016 - Sam Strand is ‘born’
March, 2017 - John Blake McClane fakes his death with the help of President Strand. He returns to the broken political scene under the pseudonym Die-Hardman and becomes a personal aide to the president.
October 1st, 2017 - Fragile (Giselle Depardieu) is born
November 8th, 2019 - Higgs Monaghan is born
April, 2020 - The United Cities of America (UCA) is established, as the state governments and boundaries have all but crumpled as a result of continuous voidouts, and only a few key cities remain.
June, 2020 - Deadman earns the position of Bridges head coroner as a result of his government-sponsored artificial personhood program.
May, 2033 - Lucy Dimmonds earns a Bachelor’s degree in psychology
March, 2034 - Lucy Dimmonds becomes a licensed therapist
February, 2038 - Sam has his first meeting with his therapist, Lucy Dimmonds. In the following months, the two begin to form a close and unprofessional relationship.
December, 2039 - Sam and Lucy are married, and Lucy retires from her practice.
February, 2040 - Lucy contracts DOOMS after becoming pregnant with her and Sam’s child Louise. She begins to have horrible visions of the apocalypse, which Bridget assures her are real portents of the future.
September, 2040 - Lucy chooses to commit suicide in order to avoid bringing a child into the world where the apocalypse is imminent. Her death causes a voidout, and Sam, who was busy making deliveries at the time, returns home to a smoking crater; all that’s left of his hometown. The survivors eye him warily and he can tell that they blame him for the disaster. In shame and grief, Sam resigns from Bridges and begins work as an independent porter. He changes his name to Sam Porter Bridges.
January 11th, 2045 - President Bridget Strand dies of metastasized uterine cancer. The plot of Death Stranding begins.
References and Reasoning Used in Creating Timeline
Deadman mentions that WW1 took place more than 100 years ago, meaning that the present day in Death Stranding is past 2014-2018
Deadman mentions that WW2 took place a century ago, which places the timeframe of Death Stranding’s narrative anywhere from 2039-2045. I opted for the late estimate as to make Sam a little older and give the timeline some room to breathe
Based on appearance, behavior, and age in relation to other characters (he was a baby when Cliff, Die-Hardman, and Bridget were all mature adults), I placed Sam at around 28-30 years old. If he were any older, characters such as Die-Hardman and Bridget would appear much too young in the present day. This would also make the period in which the Death Stranding occurred around 30 years.
Deadman explains that Clifford Unger took part in the Kosovo War, the Afghanistan War, and the Iraq War. This would place his years of service from 1999 to right before the Death Stranding and Sam’s birth, around 2015. We know his military career did not begin any earlier, as there is no mention of him serving during the Balkan Wars or Persian Gulf War. Assuming that he was around 18 for his first deployment during the Kosovo War, it can be pretty reasonably inferred that Cliff was born around 1979, and was therefore around 36-37 when he was killed. This lines up nicely with the age restrictions surrounding combat in the United States Army Special Forces (ages 20-36). Essentially, Cliff must have been 36-37 in 2016, for if he was any older he would not have been only recently retired from combat, and if he was any younger he would not have been old enough to have served  during the Kosovo War.
Bridget Strand’s age is determined similarly. As both vice president and president, she would have had to have been 35 years of age or older, if she was vice president in 2012, she would have had to have been at least 35. I placed her at 37, which is still very young, but not quite the youngest on record. But, since she assumes the presidency in 2016 following the death of the president, she would have become president at 41 years of age, which would make her the record-holder of the title of youngest American president. Assuming she is 41 in 2016, she would be 70 years of age at the time of her death in 2045, which seems reasonable.
Most other aspects of the timeline are built around these key definable pieces of the puzzle and are subject to change as more lore is revealed.
Essentially, this is full of headcanons that I’ll be happy to alter if and when we get more information.

Writer: Akinori Nishiyama
Composer(s): Jun Senoue, Kenichi Tokoi, Fumie Kumatani, Masaru Setsumaru
Inspiration
Due to the cancellation of Sonic X-treme on the SEGA Saturn, Sonic Team immediately went about trying to develop the first 3D Sonic game. With the release of Sony's Crash Bandicoot and Nintendo's Super Mario 64, they needed a killer app to sell the Dreamcast and tension was high. Production started in 1997 where Sonic Team famously traveled to Latin America to study on the culture and architecture of major cities like those found in Cancun, Guatemala, and Peru to use for the environments in-game.
Story
In this game (a first for the series), you have the option to play six different stories of six different characters: Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Big, and E-102 Gamma. When a mysterious humanoid monster made entirely of water shows up out of nowhere, Sonic and the gang team up to retrieve the seven Chaos Emeralds and use their power to halt Dr. Eggman's plans of summoning an ancient water monster Chaos to unleash havoc. Throughout each of the six quests, the characters uncover clues about the origins of Chaos and how Chaos became the most feared monster.
Gameplay
Sonic Adventure is a 3D platformer spread across multiple environments from Station Square to Windy Valley. In between the various maps are hub worlds (like Station Square) where you can talk to NPCs and TV screens to learn tips and tricks. Although the characters differ in story progression, the tracks for the platforming segments are times and your final score is ranked on how fast you complete the track as well as your number of rings and how many enemies you attacked. When you want to take a break, there is a separate hub world called the Chao Garden where you get to raise cute little creatures called Chao and take care of them.
Reception
At the time of release, it was well-received by critics and gamers alike, making it the best-selling title on the Dreamcast. Particular aspects that were praised included the music and the visuals as Sonic Team strove to create the most realistic visuals possible to showcase what the Dreamcast was capable of. Some drawbacks, however, were just as noticeable with the weird camera angles and glitches that were present. The reactions to the voice-acting were mixed.
Legacy
Although the game has received less positive reviews over the years due to it aging poorly, it is still considered one of the best Sonic games to date for its high replay value, music and other extras. It even received a Gamecube port known as Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut a few years later that improved the original version. It is still remembered fondly by Sonic fans to this day.
Thoughts from the Head
Although I didn't play SA1 until recently (I played SA2 first on the Gamecube), the influence that Sonic Adventure had was immense, even a decade later thanks to the Internet. The soundtrack alone is one of the best-remembered OSTs in gaming history and its staying power is a force to be reckoned with in the gaming world. Has it aged poorly? Yes. Is it still worth playing? Also yes. Sonic Adventure is a fascinating game in terms of development history and scope. Sonic Team really did try to show what the Dreamcast was able to do graphically and, while it may have aged, it also carries a certain charm as well that you really can't be mad at it. That all being said, if you have a Dreamcast, Gamecube, or Steam, I would encourage you to give the game a chance. Personally though, it's better to play it either on the original Dreamcast or Steam as the Gamecube version, while improved on the mechanics, is horrendous graphics-wise. Best bet? Play the Steam version as it doesn't require a lot to power to run it and the graphics and glitches have been fixed.
I actually do a Dreamcast copy in my possession, however it is in the dorm so I don't have immediate access to it. I also have the Steam version I bought from a sale a few years ago (as of this post, it is on sale for $1.19 and the sale is good until January 5th. The normal price is $7.99).
Check it out!

So, the 2010′s are over, what the fuck is up with that one? I spent more time in video games during the 2010′s than I probably spent in school, so I’ve naturally been trying to rank 10 games as my favorites of the decade. Of course, I’m a dumb bitch so I couldn’t think of anything past four or so games that I loved during the decade. So under the cut, here are my top 10 games that I played during the decade ranked in idunno an order I guess:
Number 10: Far Cry 3 (November 29th, 2012), aka the worst fucking game I’ve ever enjoyed. Far Cry 3 is a video game, that’s one of the few things I’m certain of, so naturally it has video game elements. Story, gameplay, characters, some vague semblance of doing something. If someone asked me to describe how well it did any of those things, it’d probably go something like this: “The story was fucking garbage, there was one good character that they killed halfway through, there was like one good mission in the entire game, and the gameplay was passable for a first person shooter”.  So then what the fuck, why is it this high up? I don’t know, but for some reason I kept playing this god damn game at least once every year for the past few years. Even though I had to use uPlay, even though the characters are unlikable as fuck, even though the story feels like it was written in one night long bender including some combination of Vodka and Red Bull that probably resulted with at least one person in the hospital, I kept playing this fucking game. And I think I might have figured out why, it’s just fucking stupid. There are very few games I would consider a “survival” game where it doesn’t actually have survival elements, and Far Cry 3 is one of them. The entire map itself wants you dead honestly. Including a cast of tigers, giant birds, pirates, bears, giant cliffs, and sharks, there’s no safe place on the map. Getting from one end of the map to the other will include at least one fight, no matter what you do. The game gives you the stupidest tools I can think of to get you across the map. There’s literally no reason for them to give you a flare gun, but they do because why not. A wingsuit? You get that shit like, 60% of the way through the game, and that last 40% is mostly me fucking around with the added mobility they should’ve given me from the start.  I fucking hate this game so much, purely because I enjoy it more than this game has the right to make someone enjoy. I give it a 4/10. If someone asked me of any good survival games, I would recommend something else then remember Far Cry 3 a couple hours later when taking a shower. Then I would probably play it myself, because it’s the guiltiest of pleasures.
Number 9: BioShock (August 21st, 2007), aka I never said all the games came out this decade, I just said I played them. BioShock is one of those games people consider a “masterpiece”. It’s got an amazing story, revolutionary gameplay, fantastic characters. I may agree with that, but that’s not why it’s here. I bought this game and for the following three days I stayed up playing it from 8 PM to 7 AM because I kept getting so fixed into the game that I lost my passage of time. If that’s not top 10 material I don’t know what the fuck is. BioShock is a 9/10 game, play it if you know you’re not doing anything for the next 3 days because you probably won’t realize how long you’ve been playing it. Also it’s actually pretty scary sometimes, so be warned.
Number 8: Mount and Blade: Warband (March 30, 2010), aka the game where I said I was going to take over the entire map then spent 60 hours getting 33% of the way through that goal. Mount and Blade: Warband is a perfectly accurate simulation of the days under the feudal system, because everything takes 8 years to fucking happen. Travelling across the map takes minutes at a time, battles take minutes, starting a castle’s siege takes 3 in-game days, then the siege itself takes anywhere from 10 real life minutes to an hour based on how mean the game is feeling. Do I dislike this? No, not at all, I love how large scale this game. As a matter of fact, it’s one of the largest scale games I’ve played ever. Battles can have hundreds of troops at a time, the world is dominated by kingdoms with actual politics, there are hundreds of named NPCs in the game almost every single one of which you can fight or ally with. It’s fucking insane. Mount and Blade: Warband gets an 8/10 from me, it’s not at all for everyone but it’s certainly for me.
Number 7: Resident Evil 4 (January 11, 2005), aka “wait the same person that played Leon Scott Kennedy also voiced the Merchant?” I don’t think I have anything new to say about Resident Evil 4, so I’m not really going to bother trying to critique this game. I will say I beat it at least 4 or 5 times throughout the decade, having only owned it for a few years, and that I also played it with my significant other during that time and after that they bought it to play it themselves. The only other thing I feel worth mentioning is god damn did they make Leon Scott Kennedy fucking THICC. You may think the artillery are the guns you’re carrying around anymore, but nah, them cheeks could fucking fracture a skull. Resident Evil 4 gets an 8/10 from me, I would buy it at a high price. Also I love Ada Wong.
Number 6: Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls (September 25th, 2014), aka the reason I would never recommend somebody to follow me on this fucking website. Danganronpa is by far, the best series I’ve ever seen have so many crippling flaws in it. Thankfully, Ultra Despair Girls manages to avoid those flaws by being just straight up a different game entirely. Most of Danganronpa’s flaws comes from how many characters they have. Ultra Despair Girls manages to fix that by not having as many characters, but expanding heavily on the characters that it does have. The motherfuckers literally made the hyperactive serial killer my favorite character in fiction, I don’t know what y’all expect of me at this point. Also, the game manages to have gameplay that is actually suited for someone such as myself. I absolutely adore the class trials in Danganronpa, but visual novels aren’t my thing most of the time. Danganronpa is certainly an exception, but Ultra Despair Girls’s third person shooter gameplay holds my attention like a vice, that shit was made for me. Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls gets a 7/10 from me, it’s certainly not the best game but god damn if it didn’t ruin me.
NOW ENTERING, THE LARGE LADS, WHERE RANKING MATTERS
Number 5: Plants vs. Zombies (May 5, 2009), aka the sentiment from the memories I have playing it is enough to put it on here. I played Plants vs. Zombies one time in the past decade, and that was just last year. But, I played it with my significant other while I was in England visiting them. We bought it for 1 pound from a game store, and played it almost every. single. day. after we bought it. We beat the main story at least three times, and one of those times I played. Honestly, it’s still a really fucking fun game, and I wouldn’t go back and change a second of the time I played it. Plants vs. Zombies gets a 9/10 from me, it’s an incredibly polished game and the memories I have of it means it’ll hold a special place in my heart for a long time to come.
Number 4: Fallout: New Vegas (October 19, 2010), aka 234 hours of my life I will never get back. Fallout: New Vegas is a special experience that I’m certain will never have a replacement. It’s reached a place in my mind where if I ever want to experience a game like it again, there is no “other game” to go to, I just go back to New Vegas and play through it all again. I give Fallout: New Vegas an 8/10, it’s incredibly buggy, but I’ll never be able to escape its grasp.
Number 3: The Outer Worlds (October 25th, 2019), aka wait there’s another Fallout: New Vegas, damn that’s rad The Outer Worlds was introduced to me through this trailer, upon which everyone was hyping it up. The game was made by the developers of Fallout: New Vegas, it looked like it had way more polish, and it was a space adventure. So naturally, with all of these positives, I was fucking horrified at what we were going to get. I was so unbelievably afraid that Obsidian was going to release the game and it was going to be bad. Well, I bought it a couple weeks after release, and let me tell you what the days after were like: BioShock, it was fucking BioShock again, god DAMMIT. The Outer Worlds is a fun, amazingly written, anti-corporation, fuck you Bethesda, space adventuring, really fucking fun game. I’m pretty sure I did almost every side quest, only missing on a couple companion quests, and I did everything I could to get the ending I sought after the most. I wanted nothing more than to topple the Capitalist Assholes, so I did. Not only did the game let me do that, but it has LGBTQ+ characters, and holy shit are some of them comparable to the UV Rays the sun is trying to fucking end me with.  The Outer Worlds receives a 9/10 from me, and I should play it again.
Number 2: Fallout 2 (September 30th, 1998), aka wow this game is the most dated piece of media, can I play it forever? I honestly have no fucking clue why I fell so in love with Fallout 2. It’s got some real problematic elements, homophobic NPCs, some of the worst parts of society, literal slavers? Literal slavers? But for some reason, I’m happy playing a game with them, because there is almost no consequence to just wiping them the fuck out. Every time I play through this game, it’s just routine for me to kill the slavers, the drug producers, the Scientologists. It’s like, the most selective experience ever, I could probably do quests for these people, but nah, I wipe them out and the game just stands there with its hands in its pockets not saying a word. It doesn’t try to stop me, it doesn’t give me some stupid negative trait for what I did. So long as I survive the encounter, I’m free to just move on with my day. On top of that, it’s also got amazing characters, and an amazing story. You can tell the story’s amazing, because in Fallout 3 Bethesda tried to do it again, and failed miserably. Fallout 2 gets an 8/10 from me, it’s a buggy piece of shit, but with a mod that fixes it it’s a way for me to spend another 90 hours.
Number 1: OneShot (December 8th, 2016), aka the best video game experience. OneShot is one of those special game experiences where I have nothing that I dislike about it. The main character is one of my favorite characters ever, they are an absolute baby. Every other character in the game is likable, as well. I have honest to god tried to come up with something I dislike about OneShot and I just can’t think of it. I may not replay it multiple times, but I don’t need to. I’m so in love with OneShot, I don’t need to play it multiple times. As a matter of fact, I don’t need to play it. I don’t own OneShot, my significant other does, they bought it at my recommendation. OneShot will never stop being one of the most special experiences to me.  OneShot is a 10/10 game, and I genuinely, with all my heart, recommend anyone who has even slightly similar tastes to me to play it. It’s one of the most lovable games in gaming, has exclusively likable characters, and I will always adore Niko from it.

180315 [Shinhwa’s 20th Anniversary] ① The records of the First, by the First, for the First
Tumblr media
The day that didn’t seem like it was coming finally arrived. Coming on the 24th is the 20th anniversary of Shinhwa’s debut. The members showed their faces every year so 19th, 18th, 17th seems more familiar but if you think about it, ‘20’ is a big number.
From 1998 to 2018, if you look at the times Shinhwa was active, the world had changed completely. CDP became a music website application. The variety shows that made you go to boot camps or hypnotized are gone but web contents that pursues reality showed up. The iconic music station Mnet’s logo and their award show changed multiple times. Radio program that Shinhwa used to DJ now has more than two-hands countable DJs now. The concert ticket which was less than 50,000KRW is now up to 200,000KRW.
As the world’s speed goes faster, the weight of time gets heavier. So it’s ‘not just 20 years’, but ‘already 20 years.’ And the thing that do not go away with time is the record of the ‘First.’ The first records, the records someone achieved first and other records were possible because of that, the power source to move forward. The points that made Shinhwa now didn’t get erased with time and became the bible of the idols.
Tumblr media
■ They never settle: 13th album, new dance and performance.
The reason why their history shines even more is they stuck to each other without changing any members. The scene now has lots of changes in members. It’s unbelievable to have same team member for 20 years. Shinhwa even finished all of their military services and is still the same.
So Shinhwa made it to their 13th album, the first time in the idol history. Shinhwa has been making full album even though the majority of the market is filled with singles and mini albums. Putting aside the break they had, they have been releasing a full album almost every year. On top of that, the title song ‘Touch’ from the 13th album ‘Unchanging-Touch’ is the first complete future bass song in Korean mainstream music scene.
Tumblr media
They have been trying to do new things while keeping their own original character. Mustache, tanning, muscles, shaved heads, so-called the ‘4 taboos of the idol’, they’ve all done those. They are the origin of the once popular ‘Beast idol’. These extraordinary changes is also a movement to get out of a set frame for a better stage.
The song ‘Wild eyes’ is the first song to present ‘chair dance’ to the scene. Even until now, the young groups continue to cover the song. The title song ‘This Love’ from the 11th album has the first voguing dance performance for idol group. On top of that Shinhwa will be breaking their own frame by reenacting their  ‘All Your Dreams’ which was released in 2000 on this coming March 26th.
What’s great about this is as much as Shinhwa puts efforts to the stage, the performance got better every time. Shinhwa was the first group to do a all-live band concert in 2003 as an idol group. The abundant sound of the band is now the crucial point of Shinhwa’s performances.
■ Separate but together : DJ, variety show, commercials
Nowadays ‘Separate but together’ is a common thing for idols. It’s even stranger if they don’t do anything alone as an individual member. But there were times that it wasn’t so common. In early 2000s, Shinhwa started to become a solo artist starting with Lee Minwoo who put out his first solo album, then Kim Dongwan, Shin Hyesung, Junjin, Andy in that order. Since they were alone on stage, they could show their own spectrum other than a group spectrum. Later, each members held individual concerts, fan meet and greets, tours, etc.
Same with the variety shows. Even before the words ‘Beagle –idol’, ‘Ggaebangjung (ball of energy)’ came out, Shinhwa showed their talents in shows like ‘Star watch’, ‘Long Live Love’, ‘Driven’, ‘Dong Go Dong Rak’, etc. The interview videos were always popular when the entertainment information shows were popular. Even more, Shinhwa made a record of having their own show with JTBC ‘Shinhwa Broadcast’ (2012). ‘Kim Dongwan’s Ten Ten Club’ was the first radio program to have idol DJ.
Shinhwa’s influence was even with the commercials. In 2005 Shinhwa re-signed another contract with a school uniform company, Ivy Club, after the first contract in 2000. Also, Shinhwa became the first idol suit model starting with the Roygen commercial in 2012. They also had Coca-Cola commercial for the first time, and it was Coca-Cola’s first time having human model in their commercial. And it was 1-minute long too.
Tumblr media
■ Shinhwa makes Shinhwa : Making their own company and owning the copyright
After a break due to military, Shinhwa tried hard to make 6 of them as a group back together. They established their own company, the first for any idol group. The representative is one of the members and the shareholders are themselves. The Shinhwa Company is an attempt is another way to show that an idol group can survive (on their own without a 3rd-party management). Headed by Eric and Lee Minwoo, it is still the foundation for the group activities.
But It wasn’t easy to get all the members out from their original agencies. Shinhwa determinedly went through a long legal dispute to gain back the name ‘Shinhwa.’ As a result of their persistence, they won and the Copyright transfer on May 29th 2015. In same year, June 11th, they completed the process. It’s the first case that the idol wholly owns their own name. Fans also cheered for the group who got their complete freedom after 17 years.
The story about the copyright is recognized greatly nowadays. Because there are more and more idols and groups who want to do individual things but many of them are still having issues with copyrights. Shinhwa’s example shows how hard it is for a group to show their own music by themselves, and also how big the synergy effect could be after going through that hardship together.
Tumblr media
■ Fans follow Shinhwa for the Firsts : Shinhwa Forest, Rice Wreath, Stars
Like their group, the fan-club of Shinhwa, Shinhwa Changjo is also writing a new history with a new cheering culture. Shinhwa’s fan-club create a ‘Shinhwa Forest’ as celebration of the group’s 15th anniversary. Located in Gangnam gu Seoul, the forest is consisted of 1130 trees and is leading the way to solve the environmental problem that Seoul city has with the green space.
The rice wreath culture, which is now common, it was Shinhwa Changjo who started it for the first time. The rice wreath began with Shin Hyesung concert in August 2007. Many fans of other idols now send rice wreathes to concerts, show productions, doing the good thing.
It did not start from the fans, but Shinhwa also got star as a gift for the first time. In 2005, the USC Korea, the official partner of UCS America gave Shinhwa a star to commemorate their launching in Korea. The name of the star is ‘Shinhwa’. The SHINHWA star is among the Aries constellation that matches the date of their debut, March 24th. It is one of the 2000 stars that you can see with your own eyes from earth and it is most visible in November. It also became a inspiration for the ‘Shinhwa star postage stamp’.

There are many other Shinhwa’s “First” that are not covered in this article. You can refer to this “[1Boon] You thought they only had the ‘longest running idol’ title?” for more.  And for the visual effect, check this post too! 👉 http://msmemaaaa.tumblr.com/post/117252316986
It was also said that the Coca-Cola CF was originally with Eric and he asked to have it as a group CF. Of course he also did a Coke Zero on his own in February 2007. Although the amount of his Coke Zero CF was not disclosed, GOODEMG revealed that it was the highest paid in the entertainment industry at that time.

He is committed to national champion UMASS-Amherst (HE) for the fall.
NAHL
The NAHL Draft will be held the week before the NHL Draft, on July 14th. The WHL announced their draft order, which won‘t be held until December 9th, with their US player draft coming the next day. The OHL Priority Draft will be held on June 4th with rounds 1-thru-3. On Saturday, June 5 will see rounds 4-thru-15. The QMJHL has set June 25-26, with its US player selections on the 27th. The Q did release their final Central Scouting List, and a few CT players made a list and are eligible to be drafted. Charles Andriole-(Branford/Loomis Chaffe School) Ryan Bradley-Darien John Burdett-(Greenwich/Brunswick School) Nick Capasso-(Northford/Avon Old Farms) Ben Carfora-(West Haven/ND-WH) Tanner Duncan-Ridgefield Sloan Farmer-(Greenwich/Brunswick School) Brandon Giles-(Ridgefield/Mid-Fairfield U-16) Kurt Gurkan-Darien Brendan Hill-Woodstock Academy (CT) Nicholas LeClaire-Colchester Noah Melanson-(West Simsbury/Danbury-NAHL) Patrick (P.J.) Neal-(Fairfield/Avon Old Farms) Ronan O’ Donnell-Fairfield Alex Pelletier-Manchester William Richards-(Stamford/Deerfield Academy) Ryan Sanborn-(Brookfield/Mid-Fairfield U-16) Hunter Spiess-(Old Greenwich/Brunswick School/Mid-Fairfield U-15) Lucas St. Louis-(Riverside/Brunswick School) Wesley Zolin-Greenwich
PLAYER & COACHING MOVEMENT
The Vegas Golden Knights have evened their series with Colorado in the Stanley Cup playoffs because of some important CT connections. In-Game 4, former CT Whale Jonathan-Audy Marchessault recorded his first playoff hat trick in a 5-1 win. The game's first goal was scored was tallied by Max Pacioretty (New Canaan/Taft Prep). In-game 3, they scored two goals 45 seconds apart late in the game, first by Marchessault and the game-winner by Pacioretty. The winner will likely face the Montreal Canadiens up amazingly 3-0 on the Winnipeg Jets. The best in-season hire was former Whaler Marc Bergevin, the Canadiens GM making his Western pro scout his goalie coach in former teammate Sean Burke who has revitalized goalie Carey Price.
PACK RELATED
Expected incoming Wolf Pack defenseman Braden Schneider, who played the first two games with the Wolf Pack and went back to the Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL), was named to the East Division All-Star team. He is now eligible to be in the mix for the WHL Defenseman of the Year Award. Ex-Pack Adam Cracknell, a UFA this year, has signed a one-year AHL deal with the Bakersfield Condors for the 2021-22 season. His deal last year was to be $350K-AHL. Former UCONN Husky captain of two years ago, Wyatt Newpower, signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Detroit Red Wings ($800K-NHL/$70K-AHL). The AHL’s 32nd team is underway. After a tumultuous two years, Palm Springs broke ground on their $250 million nearly 10,000 seat Coachella Valley Arena scheduled to open in October 2022. The team will likely now start to be a part of the AHL league affairs, beginning with the BOG and then assembling a staff. Then get sponsorships and starting a season-ticket drive to coincide with an unveiling of the team’s name and colors for the AHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken. Read a superb piece from the Palm Springs Desert Sun about all that has transpired to bring the arena and team to life.
BRIDGEPORT
Bridgeport sent goalie C.J. Motte back to the Allen Americans (ECHL) to get some playoff time in. Joining him from the Iowa Wild is Tyler Sheehy. Ken Agostino (Yale University) leaves the Toronto Marlies and signs with Torpedo Novgorod (Russia-KHL). Ex-Sound Tiger and QU Bobcat, Travis St. Denis, leaves Binghamton (AHL) for EHC Straubing (Germany-DEL). Now 15 AHL players have signed for Europe for next season. Ex-Pack, Vinny Saponari, gets an upgrade going from EC Kassel (Germany DEL-2) to Augsburger (Germany-DEL). Now former Wolf Pack defenseman Yegor Rykov, as expected, will stay in Russia. He departs CSKA Moscow (Russia-KHL) to Severstal Cherepovets for next season. Another ex-Pack defenseman, Julius Bergman, leaves Lahti (Finland-FEL) and returns home to IF Bjorkloven (Sweden-Allsvenskan). Former UCONN Husky, Max Kalter, retires after playing with HC Cergy-Pontoise (France-FREL) for the last two years.
MORE MOVES
In the college ranks, two more grad transfers.  Cory Thomas Vermont (HE) heads to Canisius College (AHA), and Christopher Berger graduates from Brown University (ECACHL) and heads to the Michigan State Spartans (Big 10), making 49 college grad transfers this offseason. Nick Gravina, Castleton College (NEHC), signs with HC Reims (France FFHG Division-2) for the fall. He is the 12th college player to sign overseas, and 89 college players total Division-I and Division-III have signed North American and European deals for next season. Forward Sasha Teleguine of the Chilliwack Chiefs (BCHL) has committed to UCONN (HE) for 2022-23.
IIHF CHAMPIONSHIP
In the IIHF World Championship, Canada captured gold with a 3-2 overtime win over Finland. It was their third title in five years, but easily the most improbable. They lost their first three games and scored just two goals. They then lost a fourth in overtime but won seven of their last eight games to become the first team to win gold with four losses. The US captured the bronze medal with a 6-1 over Germany. Tage Thompson (Milford/UCONN) had three assists aiding Connor Garland, who had a goal and two assists. Ryan Donato, the son of former Wolf Pack/Sound Tiger, Ted Donato, had a goal and an assist.
DRURY
Jack Drury, the son of former Whaler Ted Drury and the nephew of current Hartford GM, the Rangers President/GM, Chirs Drury, the Team USA GM, scored a nifty backhander in a three-goal second period for the US. Drury was originally a Carolina Hurricanes draft choice. He was low-balled by the team when he left Harvard and went to Sweden. His Växjö Lakers HC team won the LeMat trophy as champions. He could become a free agent, so don’t be surprised his uncle offers him a deal or makes a deal a la Adam Fox when he was a Carolina prospect. Fox played with Drury at Harvard. Brady Shaw, the son of former Whaler, Brad Shaw, departs Esbjerg (Denmark-DHL) and signs with Fehérvár AV19 (Hungary-IceHL). Logan Roe (Kent School), a Florida native, who played for the Florida Everblades (ECHL) signs with Västerås IK (Sweden-Allsvenskan). Derek Army (Hotchkiss Prep) was upgraded from interim to the new head coach for the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL). Ex-Pack Matt Register (Allen-ECHL) was named to the ECHL Second team All-Star team.
NEWS APLENTY
Former Wolf Pack Jeff Toms' son, Connor, signed his junior tender contract with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (OHL) and joining him is another offspring of Wolf Pack, Tyler Savard, the son of Marc Savard. HARTFORD WOLF PACK HOME Read the full article
