TITLE: It AUTHOR: Stephen King RELEASE DATE: September 15th 1986 READ DATE: November 10th, 2019 RATING: ★★★★☆
I really want to know how this book came to be. I imagine it going something like this:
Stephen King: hey so I want to write about this killer clown entity from outer space who is godlike and omnipresent but resigns itself geographically to a small town in Maine, lives in the sewers of said town, and thrives off of frightening these 7 twelve year-olds specifically. also, he kills everyone EXCEPT for these 7 twelve year-olds. publisher: ok, I’ll bite. tell me more about this book you want to write. Stephen King: there’s a sexually explicit scene involving all 7 of the twelve year-olds. publisher: BRILLIANT. SOLD.
I mean… IT is a really, really, REALLY weird book. it’s unnecessarily long and overly descriptive and made me feel extremely uncomfortable at some points—but I believe these are also some of IT’s greatest strengths as a novel. the length makes way for every single character, down to the most unimportant ones, to become familiar. the precision and meticulousness with which Stephen King describes every detail in Derry makes the town come to life vibrantly and dreadfully. the unbearable and frightening parts of the book make it truly remarkable and unforgettable in its own particular way.
IT is not my first time reading Stephen King, but it is my first time diving into one of my deepest childhood fears (I was absolutely TERRIFIED of Tim Curry’s Pennywise growing up) and I’ve come out of it feeling so psychologically refreshed and relieved because IT wasn’t actually as scary as I thought it would be—it was fun! the flawless writing style and immaculate transitions between past and present made it such a fascinating read and I’m genuinely so glad I convinced myself to get over my fear of both Pennywise and the intimidating length of this book to actually pick up and read it. it’s such an iconic part of horror pop culture conceptually and visually and I can’t wait to rewatch both adaptations with all my newly acquired context of this horrifying world.
I’m not ignoring or condoning the terrible way in which Stephen King writes women or that one scene between all the kids, but hey, at least I can check this book off my TBR and rely on the fact that I spent the entirety of this month-long reading experience knowing that there was really nothing to be scared of now. I’ve been cured of my fear of Tim Curry in a damn clown costume and that’s all that matters now.

Queen Index Part 1: The Video Directors
I finally got round to starting this pretty big operation. I start off pretty simply with all the video directors of Queen music videos or concert videos. Just to keep this manageable to me I’ll only cover 1973-1995 (with some exceptions along the way). I’ll do this chronologically and then make a masterpost of all the different posts I’ve made.
Mike Mansfield - Director of the first promo videos of Keep Yourself Alive & Liar shot at Brewer Street in London on 9th August 1973.
Bruce Gowers - Was first used as the director of the Bohemian Rhapsody video, shot on 10th November 1975 at Elstree Studios in London.
Faced with a difficult situation, the group improvised, setting aside a budget of £3,500 and hiring director Bruce Gowers for a four-hour (might have been three - yogurtbattle) shoot that took place without storyboarding or much of any rehearsal — and found Gowers rolling tape while the band members kept one eye on the clock, intent on getting out of the shoot in time to make it to the pub before last call (they did - yogurtbattle). (x)
(BTW, I’ve seen Roger say that they left on 2 AM that night to take the bus to their first concert, but the date of the video is widely reported as 10th of November so one of those has to be wrong and right now I’m going for Roger’s memory :P)
He also directed the video for You’re My Best Friend, no exact date. Now there is a bit of confusion over this video, and this is the closest I’ve found, from Ratty’s book, that makes sense:
Tumblr media
So it was recorded it a disused barn at Ridge Farm but not in April (as widely reported), but in mid-June (that’s when they rehearsed there). Makes far more sense as the single was released in mid-June as well.
Next up he directed the video for Somebody To Love shot both at Wessex Studios and Hyde Park in London, the former on 4th November 1976 and the latter on 18th September 1976, during the concert. Lastly, on 18th February 1977 he flew out to Miami (not as sometimes reported at Nassau Colisseum in Uniondale) to direct the video of Tie Your Mother Down in the Sportorium. The reason he never worked for Queen again afterwards, as told by him:
Gowers worked with Queen three more times before falling out with late singer Freddie Mercury because he was booked for another job. The pair had a “shouting match” in a London restaurant. “Freddie felt betrayed,” he said, “but didn't understand I was not under contract with them, and as a freelancer took work where I could get it. We never spoke properly after that.”
He did went on to work with (amongst others) Rod Stewart, the Rolling Stones, Genesis, Bee Gees, Elton John, Michael Jackson & Prince.
Derek Burnbridge - The director of We Are The Champions, shot on 6th October 1977 at New Royal Theatre in London. This was the first time the band called on the fan club for cheap extras and the band gave an impromptu short performance afterwards. It is unknown why the band never worked with him again, but he did went on to direct videos for The Police & AC/DC.
Rock Flicks - Now, this sounds more like the name of a company than a person to me, especially as the Queen videos are the only videos found related to it, but anyway ‘Rock Flicks’ was behind the Spread Your Wings/We Will Rock You video shoot, shot in January 1978 at Roger’s new home in Surrey, the one where Freddie was drunk and everyone cold. It is therefore unknown who really directed this videos.
Dennis De Vallance - This guy worked on several Queen videos, which is odd as the band didn’t like any of them. Not like the band which is normally so perfectionistic. Anyway, he first directed the Fat Bottomed Girls video on 28th October 1978 at the Convention Center in Dallas, where Queen were playing. At the same time, the performance footage for Bicycle Race was shot, but the band hated that so much only the footage of the nude cyclists was used in the original cut. This footage is also credited to Dennis as director, and was shot on 17th September at Wimbledon Stadium in London. He later returned to direct the Love Of My Life promo video on the 25th April 1979 in Tokyo. At last, he made a good Queen video when he directed the Crazy Little Thing Called Love one, on the 22nd September 1979 at Trillion Studios in London.
Interesting side note on the Crazy video: it was choreographed by Arlene Phillips, who also choreographed the We Will Rock You musical!
Now the next one is a bit tricky, his name is written as both Jorgen Kliebenst and Jörgen Kliebenstein (it certainly isn’t the first one), but I wonder if this might be the same guy as Hans-Jürgen Kliebenstein, as that is the only person with a similar name I can found on Google who is also working for TV - Anyway, this guy, whatever his name is, directed the Don’t Stop Me Now video shot at Forrest Nationale in Belgium before Queen’s concert there on 26th January 1979.
Keith McMillan - The guy that managed to fall down an orchestra pit at the Rainbow Theatre in London while working on the video for Save Me. Because the director injured himself, the band had to return to the video shoot a week later, on 22nd December 1979 at Alexandra Palace. This guy had worked before Queen with Kate Bush and Paul McCartney (who might have recommended him to them as he was the one behind the Concerts for the People of Kampuchea that Queen performed in the same month, which Keith also directed). He later worked with Blondie and Simple Minds.
Brian Grant - Directed multiple Queen videos, with mixed successes. His first was the video for Play The Game at Trillion Studios in London on 29th May 1980. Two years later he also shot the ill-fated videos for Back Chat and Calling All Girls back-to-back, in an unknown location in July 1982. He worked with various famous acts in the 80s, amongst them Kim Wilde, Peter Gabriel, Spandau Ballet, Whitney Houston and Van Halen.
Daniella Green - Hey, a female director! She directed the video for Another One Bites The Dust, shot on the 9th August 1980 in Dallas at the Reunion Arena. Nothing else I could find about her, sadly.
Mike Hodges - Just after Queen finished work on the Flash Gordon soundtrack, they shot a video for the theme song with Flash Gordon director Mike directing it - I’ll come back to him when discussing Flash Gordon. The video was shot in November 1980 at Anvil Studios and Roger had to take a break from recording his solo album to shoot it. Mike also shot the video for Body Language (yes, that one) in April 1982 in Toronto. Here’s Mike talking about that one:
Your promo video for Queen's song Body Language was apparently the first film banned by MTV. It's certainly the most erotic piece of work you've made. How did you and the band arrive at the concept? While recording the music for FLASH GORDON, I became friendly with all the members of Queen. They were fantastic fun to work with. In fact, shortly afterwards, I shot the movie’s music video. Then Freddie Mercury approached me to do the same with a song he’d written, Body Language. There’s the eroticism you talk about - in the song itself. The concept was Freddie’s and I was only too happy to capture it on film. We completed it in a Toronto studio after a truly exhausting 24-hour (okay, that makes the lack of enthusiasm by the band even more understandable - yogurtbattle) shoot! (x)
David Mallet - Now, there’s a guy that should have his own page, so much has he done with Queen. He came to work with Queen as he had worked with David Bowie previously. His first video was the one for Under Pressure, and he went on to do the videos for Radio Ga Ga, I Want To Break Free, Hammer To Fall, Who Wants To Live Forever, I Want It All, several of Freddie’s solo videos, and some work with Queen since Freddie’s death. Other people he has worked with include Joan Jett, Def Leppard, Frankie Goes To Hollywood, Tina Turner, AC/DC and INXS.
Radio Ga Ga: Shot on the 22nd & 23rd of November 1983 at Shepperton Studios in London.
I Want To Break Free: Shot on 22nd March  (the audience part), 23rd March (the drag part), 1st April (the ballet part rehearsal) and 5th April 1984 (the ballet part performance) at Limehouse Studios in London.
Hammer To Fall: Shot on the 25th August 1984 at the Forrest Nationale in Brussels. Footage from the 24th was also used for audience shots, as not enough fans showed up.
Who Wants To Live Forever: Shot on 16th September 1986 at a warehouse in Tobacco Wharf in London (by now demolished). Of course Roger was drunk here.
I Want It All: Shot on 22nd April 1989 at Elstree Studios.
The producer on several of these videos was Jacqui Byford, mentioned in the liner notes of The Miracle.
Tim Pope - Right. This guy had previously done the oh-so-great Man On Fire video, so Queen decided to hire him to shoot the video for It’s A Hard Life. The shoot ended up lasting one week, by far the longest of any Queen video. It was shot in Munich of course, in mid-June 1984 at Arri Film Studios. Now it wasn’t just Pope, the band was getting a bit out of hand with their videos then anyway, which probably had other reasons as well. He also worked with Soft Cell, The Cure, The Cars, Hall & Oates, Talk Talk, David Bowie & Paul McCartney (there’s a bit of an eighties theme going on here).
DoRo, The Torpedo Twins or Rudi Dolezal and Hannes Rossacher - The other prominent Queen directors, from one of their favourite cities Vienna. Responsible for even more Queen videos than David Mallet, especially in Freddie’s dying days:
One Vision: Shot in August 1985 in Munich, where Queen where recording for A Kind Of Magic. Also directed the shot documentary surrounding the video.
Friends Will Be Friends: Shot at JVC Studios in London on 15th May 1986, another Fan Club call.
Breakthru: Shot in June 1989 on the Nene Valley Railway in Cambridgeshire. Starring of course Debbie.
The Invisible Man: A video for Roger’s song shot on Roger’s birthday! Not very surprising then that Freddie had those glasses on for Roger’s birthday party. Apparently there was also a birthday cake wheeled in during recording and large amounts of champagne were drunk! Date of course was 26th July 1989, location Pinewood Studios in London.
Scandal: Again at Pinewood Studios, this one was shot on 27th September 1989.
The Miracle: Shot at Elstree Studios on 23rd November 1989. Freddie was portrayed by Ross McCall, who went on to become a professional actor, playing most famously in Band of Brothers.
Innuendo: This one was actually a collaboration between Rudi Dolezal and Jerry Hibbert (mentioned in the album notes). Jerry is an animator who has also worked on Fireman Sam. The video was made in December 1990.
Headlong: Shot at Metropolis Studios in London on 23rd November 1991 and another unknown date late 1990.
I’m Going Slightly Mad: Shot on 15th February 1991 at Wembley Studios in London.
These Are The Days Of Our Lives: Shot on 30th May 1991 (Freddie’s last video) at Limestone Studios in London. Brian couldn’t attend as he was in the US promoting Innuendo, but he was later edited in, with his parts filmed in June.
The Show Must Go On: The band wasn’t in this as Freddie has become too ill, but an edited montage was release as the video in October 1991.
No-One But You: Filmed at the Bray Studios in London in 1997.
After Freddie’s death Roger and Brian also made appearances at DoRo parties in 1992 (Hannes’ 40th) and 1998 (Rudi’s 40th).
Saul Swimmer - The amongst Queen members not very popular director of We Will Rock You, by now known as Rock Montreal, filmed on the 24th and 25th November 1981. It was renamed to its current name after Queen bought out Saul in 2006, after spending 25 years trying to get of him basically.
Gavin Taylor - The director of Live At Wembley, filmed on 13th July 1986. Also directed Live At The Bowl on 5th June 1982. Sadly not with us anymore.
Zsombolyai János -The director of the Hungarian Rhapsody, filmed on 27th July 1986 in of course Budapest.
That was it for the first part of the Queen index!

Philip Johnson Glass House : Modern Connecticut Architecture
20th Century American Property: New Photos – home design by Philip Johnson Architect
post updated June 26, 2021
Johnson House
Location: New Canaan, Connecticut, USA
Date built: 1949
Design: Architect Philip Johnson
photographs : Simon Garcia | arqfoto.com
The Glass House was completed in 1949. It is a National Trust Historic Site on a 49-acre campus.
Inspired by architect Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House (Plano, IL, USA), its exterior walls are made of glass, a radical departure from houses of the time.
The Glass House was the start of Philip Johnson’s fifty-year odyssey of architectural experimentation in forms, materials, and ideas, through the addition of other structures. These include the Brick House/Guest House, Pond Pavilion, Painting Gallery, Sculpture Gallery, Ghost House, Library/Study, Da Monsta, and the methodical sculpting of the surrounding landscape.

Lynn Davis: On Ice
August 24 – November 30, 2017
Lynn Davis: On Ice presents a selection of photographs from the artist’s longstanding engagement with the icebergs on the sea outside of Ilulissat, a small town on the edge of a glacier off the west coast of Greenland. Developed over the course of six expeditions that began in 1986, Davis’s photographs evidence strong affinities with the spare geometry of minimalist sculpture and track the dramatic transformation of the natural environment.
As the Glass House commemorates its 10th year as a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the exhibition additionally celebrates Davis’s friendship with David Whitney and Philip Johnson, both of whom collected the artist’s work.

Hermès and the Glass House present Centered Rhyme
Hermès and the Glass House are honored to introduce Centered Rhyme, a limited-edition 90x90cm silk twill scarf featuring a design by the late American artist Elaine Lustig Cohen (1927-2016). The design is based on a large-scale 1967 painting by the artist.
To purchase, please contact the Glass House Design Store via phone at 203-594-9884 x0 or email at [email protected]. A portion of the proceeds from the sale the Centered Rhyme scarf will go towards the preservation of the Glass House.
Elaine Lustig Cohen was highly regarded as a graphic designer, artist, and rare book dealer throughout her career, which spanned over fifty years. In 1955, she began her design work in New York by extending the idiom of European modernism into an American context for her diverse clientele of publishers, corporations, cultural institutions, and architects. Her first client was Philip Johnson – architect of the celebrated Glass House (1949) in New Canaan, Connecticut – who commissioned her to design the lettering and signage for the iconic Seagram Building.
The two forged an important bond that resulted in a variety of projects for the Glass House, Yale University, and Lincoln Center, among others. As a painter, Lustig Cohen developed a hard-edged style in the 1960s and 1970s that asserted the canvas’ flat surface. She continued to experiment with bold colors, linear patterning, and abstract shapes in a variety of media including collage and three-dimensional objects.
Following a 2015 exhibition of the artist’s early paintings and graphic design at the Glass House, Pierre-Alexis Dumas, artistic director of Hermès, met the artist at her Manhattan home and conceived of a scarf based on her painting Centered Rhyme (1967). Pierre-Alexis and Elaine discovered a deep intellectual and philosophical connection while touring her remarkable personal collection of eclectic art and artifacts, including ancient printed silks.
The project was made in collaboration with the Glass House, a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, that in alignment with Hermès values is dedicated to the promotion of cultural and architectural preservation, artistry and craftsmanship.
The limited-edition Hermès 90cm x 90cm silk twill design, $395.00, will be presented in Lustig Cohen’s original coloration; crème/jaune/rose, and sold at the Glass House Design Store and Hermès boutiques.

Pre-election year Mays: Just 10th overall DJIA and S&P 500
Tumblr media
May officially marks the beginning of the “Worst Six Months” for the DJIA and S&P. To wit: “Sell in May and go away.” Our “Best Six Months Switching Strategy,” created in 1986, proves that there is merit to this old trader’s tale. A hypothetical $10,000 investment in the DJIA compounded to a gain of $1,008,721 for November-April in 68 years compared to just $1,031 for May-October. The same hypothetical $10,000 investment in the S&P 500 compounded to $757,335 for November-April in 68 years compared to a gain of just $9,079 for May-October.
May has been a tricky month over the years, a well-deserved reputation following the May 6, 2010 “flash crash”. It used to be part of what we called the “May/June disaster area.” From 1965 to 1984 the S&P 500 was down during May fifteen out of twenty times. Then from 1985 through 1997 May was the best month, gaining ground every single year (13 straight gains) on the S&P, up 3.3% on average with the DJIA falling once and two NASDAQ losses.
In the years since 1997, May’s performance has been erratic; DJIA up ten times in the past twenty years (three of the years had gains in excess of 4%). NASDAQ suffered five May losses in a row from 1998-2001, down – 11.9% in 2000, followed by eleven sizable gains in excess of 2.5% and four losses, the worst of which was 8.3% in 2010. Since 1950, pre-election-year Mays rank poorly, #10 DJIA and S&P 500, #7 NASDAQ, #6 Russell 1000 and #5 Russell 2000.

The Troubled Production History of Girls On Top
Originally published by @smarterthantheaverage-blog-blog on October 30, 2016
Alluded to as Four-Play in a profile of Ruby Wax in the 27th May 1983 issue of Television Weekly (much later, Martin Aston’s article in the 9th November 1985 issue of Melody Maker revealed that another potential title was Bitches On Heat), the first news of production taking place on Girls On Top comes in the 11th August 1983 issue of Television Today. Here it goes by the name of Four Fs To Share, and “production of 13 episodes is expected to be next spring”. A pilot has already been made, produced by Tony Charles, who its said will go on and produce the series, and directed by Baz Taylor, who would have had to drop out of directing the show to work on the upcoming series of Shine On Harvey Moon. The following spring, the 27th April 1984 issue of Television Weekly reports the bad news that “a sitcom series of six half hours called Girls On Top was due to go into rehearsal this week but has been held up by the electricians dispute”. This electrician’s dispute took place at Central’s Nottingham Studios on Lenton Lane, where the show was to have been (and was eventually) recorded. It adds that Paul Jackson will produce and direct the show, and that “the series will go out in the Autumn”. The same article also mentions a Tracey Ullman series which never happened: “Starting shooting in July is an all film series of five half hours, Five Faces Of Tracey, in which she takes a different character per show and plays it through a self-contained story. Three have been written so far, one by Ullman and two Wax and Ullman together”. One would imagine that quite a bit of Tracey Ullman’s material was incorporated into her later projects, but who knows what happened to the Ruby Wax scripts. The 13th September 1984 issue of Television Today tells us that Girls On Top is now “to be recorded in January. Girls On Top was originally to have been recorded last April, but was delayed by the strike of 28 electricians at Central’s Lenton Lane studio complex”. The 24th January 1985 issue of Television Today says of Girls On Top that “three days of location filming in the Nottingham area took place last week and studio work begins today, Thursday, until March 13”. In fact, what was recorded in January 1985 was a second pilot (subtitled Four-Play), according to the 8th February 1985 issue of Television Weekly. Its article starts by saying that “WitzEnd Production have just completed episode one of Girls On Top, a seven-part sitcom, for Central”. However, the same piece does contradict the end date given in the previous article, saying that shooting for the rest of the series is “scheduled to begin in May”. One could theorise that May was proposed as a time to record the remaining episodes of Girls On Top, but it was pushed earlier when Happy Families was being mooted for shooting around this time. It may also have been moved so as not to conflict with Adrian Edmonson’s and Jennifer Saunders’ wedding plans, married as they were on the 11th May 1985. (Incidentally, on the subject of Jennifer Saunders’ domestic life, she gave birth to her first child Eleanor on the 22nd January 1986, which means that she must have been impregnated in late April 1985, exactly in the middle of the three-month break between recording Girls On Top and filming Happy Families. Nice one, Ade!) Happy Families was shot between the 10th of June and the end of August 1985 in locations including Liverpool, Derbyshire, Staffordshire and BBC Manchester, according to the 30th May 1985 issue of Television Today and the 31st May 1985 issue of Broadcast. More interestingly, both articles say that when he commissioned Happy Families, Head of BBC Network Production at Manchester Roger Bolton offered Paul Jackson two series. Happy Families was one and the other was, as Television Today put it, “a second, as yet undecided, series due to begin production in the summer of 1986”. Presumably this undecided production became Filthy, Rich And Catflap. In short, the Girls On Top shooting history runs thus: a pilot was recorded by May 1983; the first series was meant to be recorded in April 1984; the first broadcast of the first series was supposed to be in Autumn 1984; the first series was actually recorded in early 1985; and the first broadcast of the first episode was on 23rd October 1985. So in fact it was actually an understatement for the 15th August 1985 issue of Television Today and the 31st October to 6th November 1985 issue of Time Out to say that the series had been delayed for a year. The recording of the second series was far smoother and, according to the 8th May 1986 issue of Television Today, “studio work at Central’s Nottingham Studios began last week and will finish on June 12”. The thirteen episodes of both series were released as a two-DVD set from Network on the 22nd January 2007. The set notably omits Four Fs To Share, the 1983 Girls On Top pilot with no Paul Jackson involvement. Which raises the question - where is it?

November 10:
On this date in 1975, Neil Young & Crazy Horse released their seventh studio album, Zuma. A lot of people loved this record (including John Peel), and I don't hate it. And I don't hate Poncho Sampedro, either, but his first album with the Horse seems to me just a little overrated.
On this date in 1986, Killing Joke released their sixth album, Brighter Than A Thousand Suns.
On this date in 1989, Ministry released their fourth album, The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste.
On the 10th of November, 1992, Brian Eno let loose unto a world that may or may not have been ready for it The Shutov Assembly, his 13th album.

CIA, FBI, and Hillary Clinton use CrowdStrike software to infect rather than protect nation's cyber networks
The CIA and FBI use CrowdStrike software as a back door into the nation's cyber systems.
CrowdStrike software is installed in nearly every federal agency and department including Congress, the FBI, the Defense Department, and the White House.
Stuart McClure, a founder of CrowdStrike, said their software "doesn't do anything around prevention", "only ... detection". And CrowdStrike software doesn't "do it all that well." McClure was quoted in Forbes, a global business PR network.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/thomasbrewster/2016/07/06/duelling-unicorns-crowdstrike-vs-cylance-in-brutal-battle-to-knock-hackers-out/#3fe40fd7303f
To prove McClure's point, Google has never used CrowdStrike software.
http://fortune.com/2015/07/13/google-100-million-series-c-crowdstrike/
As an FBI contractor, CrowdStrike has top secret clearance.
According to a FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) ruling, CrowdStrike has "unrestricted illegal access" to the nation's surveillance data.
https://brassballs.blog/home/fisa-court-rules-fbi-illegally-and-routinely-gave-70-private-contractors-unrestricted-access-to-secret-spy-data
Homeland Security's first head, Tom Ridge, routinely called the FBI "a propaganda machine". If alive today, Ridge would say the FBI has upped its game. That FBI public relations (PR) fiasco is compounded at CrowdStrike by its President, Shawn Henry, who retired from the FBI.
A search of "CrowdStrike" on Reuters, a global PR service for businesses, shows 240 posts since 2012.
CrowdStrike was part of the Department of Defense's cyber program that granted top secret clearances to non-government employees and corporations. The program was designed by the Obama Administration in 2011 to fill the gaps in the nation's cyber defense programs.
http://www.doncio.navy.mil/chips/ArticleDetails.aspx?id=6312
Pictured above is Shawn "Uncle Fester" Henry. He retired from the FBI to become President of CrowdStrike. Henry's real picture will appear later in this post. Uncle Fester was a character on the "Addams Family" television show. A light bulb would turn on whenever it was inserted into his mouth.
According to George Webb Sweigert, Henry is one of Hillary Clinton's "Three Henchmen" with FBI connections. The other two are former FBI Directors Robert Mueller and James Comey.
Deleting the back door in CrowdStrike software may be impossible. It may require a new non-CrowdStrike system, an act of Congress, or an Executive Order to plug CrowdStrike's back door.
Pulling CrowdStrike's troika is the CIA, FBI, and Michael Alpernovitch or "Papa Bear".  According to George Webb Sweigert, "Papa Bear" heads "Hillary's Hackers" (Clinton).
CrowdStrike and its top executives have a history of fiascoes and hacks.
CrowdStrike is the cyber world's  Clinton Foundation without the charity.
CrowdStrike has a real Russian connection. The key players, the Alpernovitch family, were born in Moscow. They are known as "Mueller's Moscow Mules" by the FBI after their former director, Robert Mueller.
https://www.news4jax.com/news/weird-news/moscow-mueller-drinks-offered-at-dc-bar-for-indictments
What is worse than being exiled to Siberia? Being "assigned" to the Chernobyl clean-up team. The Chernobyl nuclear disaster occurred in 1986. Chernobyl is 65 miles north of Kiev, in the Soviet Ukraine.
Michael was to be sent to Chernobyl as part of a rescue mission. Many of Michael's close friends and colleagues died of radiation poisoning within months of the mission.
After 30 years, the Russians are still cleaning up the nuclear radiation mess in Chernobyl.

The CIA made "Papa Bear" Michael Alpernovitch an offer he "couldn't refuse".
Come to America and work for the CIA. Or stay in Russia.
America! America!
To get him out of Russia, Canada approved a visa in 1994 for "Papa Bear". Once in Canada, the CIA made Michael an American citizen. He was granted top security clearance to work for the Tennessee Valley Authority, Chattanooga office.
https://www.tva.gov/About-TVA/Contact-Us
Alpernovitch may have found the work boring.
He was reputed to be one of Russia's top hackers.
His academic background was in mathematics. Only his son, Dmitri, said his father was a nuclear scientist.
The CIA has used the Canadian embassy before to get CIA assets out of foreign countries and into America.
https://www.cia.gov/about-cia/cia-museum/experience-the-collection/text-version/stories/rescue-of-the-canadian-six-a-classic-case-of-deception.html
Dmitri was 15 years old when his family moved in America.
The Oak Ridge National Laboratory near Knoxville, Tennessee, claimed it was hacked on Dec. 10th, 2007.
Oak Ridge is home to the world's five largest super computer. Oak Ridge is part of the Department of Energy. Its lab is 18 square miles. It is 111 miles from Oak Ridge to Chattanooga.
It has a Chattanooga office.
https://www.zdnet.com/article/china-connection-eyed-in-oak-ridge-cyber-attack/
Dmitri's citizenship papers were approved Oct. 25th, 2010. The public record of his citizenship application is blocked from pubic records by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. His file is marked, "Withheld pursuant to (b)(6) COW2010000515".

J. Keith Mularski sold furniture for five years before working for the FBI.
"But I've kind of always liked computers," said Mularski. "It kind of looked like cyber was the wave of the future."
The FBI transferred Mularski to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the FBI's Silicon Valley. He helped start the FBI's Cyber Division in 1999 with seven other agents.
"The majority of all my computer training was just on-the-job training at the bureau," said Mularski.

J. Keith Mularski, FBI Cyber Unit, PIttsburgh
In 2005, the FBI named Mularski to lead in an undercover operation believed to be a Russian credit-card-theft syndicate. He admitted to Esquire Magazine that he had no Internet experience.
https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a49902/the-russian-emigre-leading-the-fight-to-protect-america/
Keith relied on "Baby Bear" Dmitri Alperovitch, "a good guy and a friend," to teach him. For the FBI sting, Dmitri posed as a “Russian gangster” on spam discussion forums.
The sting started in November, 2006 and was called "Dark Market".
Mularski told Esquire he was working 24 hours a day for two years. His wife "didn't like it."
Mularski admitted to Esquire that he blew the operation by logging in from an FBI computer in Pittsburgh. That's when a real cyber criminal found the location. The hacker was "The Iceman", "Max Ray Vision". An FBI press release had his name as Max Ray Butler.
https://archives.fbi.gov/archives/pittsburgh/press-releases/2010/pt021210b.htm
Even after the FBI sting was exposed, Mularski kept the Dark Market operation open.
Based on Butler's warning though, the real criminals stopped using the FBI's site. Only the posers, the non-criminals, many operating out of unsecure coffee shops, stayed on the site. These were the ones arrested.
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2010/jan/14/darkmarket-online-fraud-trial-wembley
The hacker impostors never stole a thing, but craved the attention of acting like a sly cyber thief.
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/10/14/darkmarket_sting/
When a German radio network reported the Dark Market operation from court documents, the FBI shut down its sting.
One hacker offered 3.7 million records from a compromised online dating site for $110.
Eight of the 56 arrests were made in the U.S. Five were in Pittsburgh, two in Wisconsin, and one in Louisiana.
http://triblive.com/news/allegheny/8733238-74/agents-pittsburgh-darkode
It resulted in "preventing $70 million in losses", according to an FBI press release linked here:
https://archives.fbi.gov/archives/news/stories/2008/october/darkmarket_102008
Inside Keith Mularski's FBI Cyber Office in Pittsburgh.
The FBI's press release about Mularski's role in Dark Market was approved by the FBI's Cyber Division Assistant Director Shawn Henry. (In 2012, Henry became CrowdStrike's President.)
The taxpayers paid a lot of FBI overtime for nothing.
No one was convicted. No money was stolen. Therefore, the Justice Department was unable to charge anyone with a crime.
Regardless of the results, the FBI still promoted themselves as super cyber sleuths. To the FBI, Mularski was like a national hero. He received an Award for Excellence in the field of Public Policy. He spoke at a convention for security cyber specialists.
https://archives.fbi.gov/archives/news/stories/2009/may/cyber_rsa050509
It is unknown who referred "Baby Bear" to the FBI.
Dmitri was V.P. of Threat Research at McAfee in 2008.
Prior to that, he worked for CipherTrust. They were bought by Secure Computing (SC) in 2006.
Before Baby Bear started working for McAfee, on April 21st, 2008, the Hillary Clinton Campaign for President received a unique gift from an admirer. The website for Barack Obama's Campaign for President received no traffic. Blocked? No. They were transferred to Hillary's web site. i

Here's the video:
A video of how the Obama for President Campaign site was flipped to Hillary Clinton's.
George Webb Steiger worked with "Baby Bear" at McAfee. According to George, their job was to hire a dozen "Russian hackers to write viruses to stimulate software sales".
"That was a common practice that we ran at the end of every quarter. (to write viruses to spike sales)
"You are most likely to buy the software when something like that happens", said Webb. Like what? Like your company's entire computer network freezes.
One of the hacker groups McAfee hired were "The Dukes". A 30-page report on them is linked here:
https://www.f-secure.com/documents/996508/1030745/dukes_whitepaper.pdf
Webb's comments are in the video below. He has over a dozen videos on the Russian hacking groups, the Alpernovitch family, and CrowdStrike. They are on the internet's YouTube channel.
Google's Chief Legal Officer, David Drummond, said his company suspected that a selected group of email accounts in China were hacked by unknown source or sources.
His press release was dated Jan. 12th, 2010 and appears here on Google's site:
https://googleblog.blogspot.com/2010/01/new-approach-to-china.html
Baby Bear led the investigation into Operation Aurora. Out of all the people in the world, Google chose Dmitri to lead the investigation.
https://www.wired.com/2010/01/operation-aurora/
David Drummond, Chief Legal Counsel of Google
Three years later on April 22nd, 2013, Google discovered Dmitri's China email investigation was incomplete and its focus misguided.
What was stolen? The data base of current spy surveillance warrants from the FISA Court (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court), according to Dave Aucsmith. He is Senior Director of Microsoft's Institute for Advanced Technology in Governments.
"What we found was the attackers were actually looking for the accounts that we had lawful wiretap orders on", said Aucsmith.
https://www.cio.com/article/2386547/government/-aurora--cyber-attackers-were-really-running-counter-intelligence.html
Aucsmith was brought to protect Microsoft from being blamed for Google's loss.

Ongoing investigations were compromised. No numbers were given. Warrants includes names of targets, spies, terrorists, government employees with surveillance data and contact information.

Aucsmith was Chief Security Architect for Intel Corporation from 1994 to 2002. According to President Donald J. Trump, Intel is the world's largest defense contractor. Intel is another company created by DARPA.
Like Baby Bear, Aucsmith was graduated from Georgia Tech.

David Aucsmith, Sr. Principal Research Scientist at the Applied Physics Laboratory of the University of Washington
Unlike Dmitri, Aucsmith is on the faculty of the Intelligence Academy. It consists of former senior executives from several national security agencies, including the major intelligence agencies: CIA, DIA, NSA, NGA, NRO, State/INR, and Dept. of Defense.
Dmitri Alpernovitch is no where on the Intelligence Academy's faculty listing.

Intel buys McAfee on Aug. 21st, 2010. Intel reported record quarterly profit of $2.9 billion. Baby Bear keeps his job at McAfee. For now. The name McAfee is kept and operates as a separate company under Intel.

At a corporate publicity event for McAfee, Alperovitch admitted to a reporter that his personal information, his phone number, was hacked.
“They (N.Y. Times, CNN, Reuters, PBS) started calling me on my personal phone,” Dmitri told Joris Evers, McAfee's Director of Public Relations.
“How did they get my phone number?”, said Dmitri.
Evers said, “Maybe you should change it.”

Alperovitch wrote a 14-page report called "Operation Shady Rat" for McAfee. It was a five-year review of cyber attacks around the world. Baby Bear said he found "the “biggest transfer of wealth in terms of intellectual property in human history.”
https://www.scribd.com/document/75451632/Mcafee-Shadyrat-Report
While being interviewed by Esquire Magazine, Renee James, President of Intel, called Baby Bear.
"Dmitri, Intel has a lot of business in China. You cannot call out China in this report", said James.
Baby Bear told Esquire that Intel was "terrified of losing their ability to market products in China."
https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a49902/the-russian-emigre-leading-the-fight-to-protect-america/
Alperovitch removed the word "China" from his report. He renamed it "Shady Rat". The date of Dmitri's report was deleted.
The McAfee name remains on Baby Bear's 14-page report and is linked here:

https://www.scribd.com/document/75451632/Mcafee-Shadyrat-Report
Baby Bear told Esquire that James' phone call "accelerated" his plans to leave Intel. Alpernovitch said he was "being censored because I'm working for a company that's not really an American company."
James told Esquire she had "no comment".

Baby Bear's report was timed to be released the day of the Black Hat USA convention in Las Vegas, July 31st, 2011.
The Black Hat event is for information security specialists. Black Hat also has conventions every year in Europe and Asia.
According to Black Hat, "All presentations are vetted thoroughly by the Black Hat Review Board. Each submission is reviewed for uniqueness, overall content expertise and accuracy before any selections are made."
https://web.archive.org/web/20171120070446/https://www.blackhat.com/review-board.html
The Review Board never approved Alperovitch's report for presentation at their convention.
A District of Columbia based media source posted a story about McAfee's report the day before the convention.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/national-security/report-identifies-widespread-cyber-spying/2011/07/29/gIQAoTUmqI_story.html?utm_term=.40f49f63e61a
The week before the convention, Alperovitch made confidential briefings on Shady Rat to Senior White House officials. He also met with Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2011/09/chinese-hacking-201109
After the convention, the fallout began over the "Operation Shady Rat" report. How big of a fiasco was it?
McAfee deleted Dmitri's report, Operation Shady Rat, from its website.
It took the smile right off his face.
Five weeks after the Black Hat Convention, Baby Bear was no longer working for McAfee. Neither were his friends and co-workers, George Kurtz and Steve McClure.
Dmitri "Baby Bear" Alpernovitch, smiling for the cameras at the Black Hat Convention
George Kurtz and Stuart McClure are to business ethics as Dmitri Alpernovitch is to cyber skills.
Kurtz and McClure started a company called Foundstone in 1992. They were accused of copying computer hacking prevention classes from Ernst & Young.
In 2003, Kurtz and McClure stole other companies software and sold it as theirs, according to Saumil Shah, a former employee. Shad called it "piracy".
https://www.blackhat.com/asia-17/speakers/Saumil-Shah.html
In 2006, Kurtz and McClure increased their pay by backdating  stock. The practice is illegal. It happened for ten years. It increased their pay when they sold the company to McAfee. As a result, Foundstone lost $150 million. Foundstone's new President said he was fired because "it happened on my watch."

George Kurtz
Kurtz has top secret clearance as an FBI contractor. McClure no longer works for CrowdStrike. It is unknown whether he also has top secret clearance as an FBI contractor for Cylance. Now Kurtz and McClure are competitors.
McClure told Forbes, CrowdStrike "doesn't do anything around prevention. They only do detection. And they don't do it all that well."

Gregg Marston was CrowdStrike’s other co-founder. He worked as chief financial officer of Foundstone.

Kurtz started working for Warburg Pincus two months after he left Intel/McAfee.
The Warburg Pincus firm invested $26 million into CrowdStrike on Feb. 24th, 2012. With it, CrowdStrike hired 20 employees and set up offices  in San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.
Kurtz said CrowdStrike was "developing technology" and promised their first software product by June.
Why would private investors dump $26 million into a new company with no existing, pending, or developing products or services?
The only background check this troika of CrowdStrike co-founders could pass was with the FBI. Yet their top security clearance has never been revoked.
Would money laundering crime syndicates trust CrowdStrike with $26 million? They would if there was no risk and exponential reward.
Is the reward intelligence data? What else could it be?
https://www.networkworld.com/article/2186194/security/startup-crowdstrike-promises--game-changer--in-fight-vs--advanced-persistent-threats.html

Denis O’Leary was named to CrowdStrike's Board of Directors on May 7th, 2012. In his 25-year career at JP Morgan, O'Leary was Chief Information Officer, Director of Finance, Head of Branch Banking and a member of its nine-member executive committee.
O’Leary is currently managing partner of Encore Financial Partners Inc, a company that acquires and manages U.S.-based banks.

Warburg Pincus history dates back to 1913. The Federal Reserve System was Paul Warburg's idea. He represented the U.S. at the Treaty of Versailles conference that ended World War I.
Who was sitting across the table from Paul in Versailles? His brother, Max, who represented Germany.
Warburg Pincus was the first one to begin venture capital associations in China. Warburg Pincus has a vested interest, like Intel, of never accusing the Chinese of hacking into anything American.
When Warburg Pincus invests, it is always as majority owner.
Tim Geithner is President of Warburg Pincus.

Geithner was Treasury Secretary in 2010 and headed the committee that approved Hillary Clinton's Uranium One.
https://www.treasury.gov/about/history/Pages/tgeithner.aspx
President Obama credited Geithner with the plan to prop up Obamacare with $260 billion. The plan caused the 2008 market meltdown of the housing market. Federal mortgage investors were the victims of this theft.
https://brassballs.blog/home/2017/8/9/260-billion-swiped-from-investors-to-prop-up-obamacare-causing-2008-market-meltdown
Before he joined the Obama administration, Geithner was President of the New York Federal Reserve Bank. He along with Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson designed the bailout program. It saved the banks from bankruptcy in the 2008 subprime lending fiasco. The crisis was caused by the banks.

Google Capital invested $100 million in CrowdStrike on July 13th, 2015. Google knows better than use CrowdStrike software. When asked by directly by Fortune Magazine whether Google was a customer, CrowdStrike's CEO George Kurtz said, "No comment."
The first thing CrowdStrike executives Kurtz and President Shawn Henry did was pose with their race cars for Fortune Magazine. It is unknown what country their party was in.

Shawn Henry retired from the FBI on March 31st 2012. While at the FBI, he was the bureaucrat in charge of all the FBI's investigations around the world. Former FBI Director Robert Mueller promoted "Uncle Fester" more times than anyone else in the FBI.

President Barack Obama has direct ties to CrowdStrike too.
President Obama appointed Steven Chabinsky to his cabinet on April 13th, 2016. Chabinsky became a member of the Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity. At the time, Chabinsky was General Counsel and Chief Risk Officer for CrowdStrike.

Chabinsky worked for CrowdStrike as General Counsel, Senior V.P., and Chief Risk Officer from Sept. 20th, 2012 to Dec. 1st, 2016.
Chabinsky quit CrowdStrike to become a partner in a law firm on Dec. 1st, 2016. Donald J. Trump was elected President Nov. 9th, 2016.

A test conducted by NSS Labs concluded that CrowdStrike software was 70 per cent effective on identifying cyber threats. Their competitors were over 90 per cent.
At $1500 per computer, CrowdStrike software was also the most expensive. The best brands in the study cost between $400 and $500.
