Prompt 404
"They sent you? After everything I did? That's hilarious." The villain laughed through bloodied lips. "And I'm the sadistic one."
The hero didn't respond to the shell of their tormenter. They remembered the villain as vibrant, invincible: a showman of suffering. Not coated in dirt and bruises in a cell.
"After everything I did, I'm surprised you can even come near me." The villain added. Their gaze didn't waver. "Unless this is your way of asking for more."
A shudder ran through the hero and they tasted bile at the thought.

Prompt #3153
“[Hero]? It’s time to get up. I came to rescue you. I know I’m not who you were expecting but I’m here, I found you, and everything’s going to be okay. You can stop playing dead now.” Their hero didn’t move, and the villain crept forward. “[Hero]?” they whispered, fighting to ignore the crack in their voice. “Stop playing dead now. Please.”

"I can't leave again" + homecoming + failed rescue
day 12 of @whumptember
352 words
warnings: implied toxic relationship
---
Caretaker’s leg bounces under the table, she checks the time on her phone again and sighs. She mutters, “Come on, Whumpee, where are you?”
The sun slowly peeks over the tall buildings surrounding the cafe Caretaker and Whumpee eat at anytime she’s back in town.
Whumpee comes running up to the cafe, the sunrise outlining his frantic waving. Caretaker smiles and stands, catching Whumpee when he nearly jumps into her arms. He buries his face in the crook of her neck and lets his feet hang a few inches off the ground. “I missed you,” he says, smiling widely. “Have you ordered yet?”
Caretaker sets him back on the ground and nods, “I wanted to try something new, it should be out soon.”
“Oh good, I’m starving.” he says, sitting down across from Caretaker. “So, what are you up to?”
She chuckles and scoots her chair closer to the table. “Oh, y’know. This and that. I actually get to move here for a few months. I was thinking maybe you could come stay with me while I’m here?”
Whumpee shakes his head and fidgets with the tablecloth. “I…I can’t leave again.”
“But it wouldn’t be leaving!” she says, leaning forward. “Just taking a small break from…everything.”
He shakes his head again and falls back in his chair, “I can’t just leave Whumper. Not with ‘everything’ going on. And especially not for a few months. I could barely get away this morning.”
“Whumpee,” Caretaker says. She takes a deep breath and smiles, “Don’t you think that you barely being able to leave for an hour for breakfast means you need a break? I mean, come on.”
Shaking his head, Whumpee pushes his seat back and stands up. “I’m sorry, Caretaker. I appreciate the offer, I really do. But I just can’t leave him right now.” he kisses her cheek and walks away, “I have to get back. It was great seeing you. I’m sorry I can’t stay longer. Maybe we’ll hang out once you get settled, yeah?”
She stares at him and only manages a forced smile and nod. “I’ll see you around.”

warnings: captive whumpee
characters: caretaker, whumpee
101 words
a/n: thank you all for reading my fics :D hoping to have a masterpost out in the next week or so, but i might succumb to the horrors
---
Caretaker turned the corner and pushed the door open, she was met with wide, scared eyes staring up at her. “Whumpee?”
They pulled back, pushing themself into the corner. Caretaker knelt down, “Whumper doesn’t know I’m here, we have to go fast.”
Whumpee’s eyes tracked Caretaker’s hands, gently untying the ropes around their ankles. She loosened the knots binding their wrists together and Whumpee pulled them apart the rest of the way.
They ripped the tape off their mouth and threw themself at Caretaker, wrapping their arms around her. Caretaker held her tightly and stood up, carrying Whumpee, “You’re safe now.”

Pushed VI
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Alternate Ending
Warnings: captivity, chemical restraint, noncon, suffocation, cpr, mcd, hurt no comfort, caretaker and whumpee, rescue attempt/failed rescue
The bedroom door burst open. Caretaker and team poured into the room. Caretaker froze as they saw Whumper thrusting violently into Whumpee.
“Freeze!” Teammate One ordered, weapon trained on Whumper’s head.
“Not even going to let me finish?” They smirked. Whumper pulled out and smacked Whumpee’s ass. “Maybe later, darling.”
With a growl, Caretaker launched themself at Whumper, tackling them to the ground. Caretaker didn’t remember hitting Whumper in the face. Didn’t remember punching them over and over. All they remember was Teammate Two hauling them off quickly.
“Stop! Stop! I’ve got this. Go help Whumpee.” Teammate Two shoved Caretaker back toward the bed.
Whumpee was completely still on the bed. Hadn’t moved from when Whumper pulled out. Hadn’t made a sound. They were so still, Caretaker wasn’t even sure they were breathing. “Whumpee?
“I gave them a lil something to take the edge off,” Whumper giggled as Teammate One and Teammate Two restrained Whumper.
Caretaker carefully covered Whumpee’s exposed back side and flipped them over. Their eyes were closed, jaw slack, and their lips were tinged blue. Caretaker’s heart was in their throat as they put shaky fingers to Whumpee’s neck. “Whumpee?”
As Caretaker waited and waited for the beat that would never come, panic threatened to take over them. “Call an ambulance!” They shouted at Teammate One and Two who had just left to escort Whumper to the car.
“What? Why?” Caretaker heard the concern seep into Teammate Two’s voice.
“They’re not breathing,” Caretaker shouted back as they started chest compressions. Caretaker pumped Whumpee’s chest. “Come on, Whumpee, come on.”
As Caretaker breathed for Whumpee, pushing air through colder than normal lips, they begged Whumpee to wake. To take that shuddering breath of life. To cough and open their eyes. But Whumpee did not wake. Whumpee continued to move limply beneath Caretaker, their lungs only expanding with the air that Caretaker provided them.
Tears dripped from Caretaker’s face onto Whumpee’s upturned face. “Please, Whumpee, please. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” Caretaker sobbed as they stopped. They knew it had been too long. That they were too late. That they had failed Whumpee.
As Teammate One rushed in with paramedics hot on their heels, Caretaker took Whumpee into their arms and held them close. “I’m sorry,” Caretaker whispered through their tears into Whumpee’s hair. “I’m so, so sorry.”
Teammate One turned away. They couldn’t see this. Couldn’t watch Caretaker hold and rock Whumpee’s lifeless body. Couldn’t watch them in their private mourning. Teammate One led the paramedics away as Caretaker’s anguished cries came from the bed. They shook their head when they met Teammate Two outside.
Teammate Two froze as they entered the room again. They didn’t want to intrude on Caretaker’s grief, didn’t want to take them away from Whumpee. But they knew that this was when Caretaker needed them. Even if they didn’t say.
Caretaker kissed Whumpee’s forehead and continued to murmur into their hair. Teammate Two put a tentative hand on Caretaker’s shoulder. Caretaker flinched, almost losing their grip on Whumpee in the process. Caretaker clutched Whumpee tighter as Teammate Two gripped their shoulder, Teammate Two’s silent tears matching their own.
This. This was agony. This was the worst pain they had ever felt. Whumper pushing them down the stairs did not compare. “I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. Whumpee, I’m so sorry.” Caretaker continued to whisper as they rocked. This was the thing that would push them over the edge.

John scrambled up the hill, his shins barking against the rocks but the pain not registering. His feet kept trying to dig into the loose dirt but with each couple of steps up he’d slide back down. “Goddamnit, come on come on come on!” He growled, willing his panic to not overtake him. John could see them leading him out to the platform below him. He was barefoot and filthy, a chain on each ankle connecting them and making it harder to walk and his hands tied behind his back while being dragged over by two large men. John was running out of time. If he didn’t get to higher ground he would never get a clear enough shot.
“..…Javier Escuella you have been convicted of treason and sentenced to hang by the neck until you are dead…..”
John went cold and panic stole through him as he adjusted his sights and saw the trap door slap open. It seemed like it all happened in slow motion. The door opening up, the split second of weightlessness and the look of surprise before Javier’s body dropped through the opening, the tightening of the hangman’s rope above him

documentary prison alctraz
A documentary about prison is a film or series that explores different aspects of the prison system, including the experiences of inmates, the conditions inside prisons, the effects of incarceration on families and communities, and the policies that shape the justice system.
Documentary filmmakers often interview inmates, corrections officers, lawyers, and other experts to provide an in-depth look at the realities of prison life. They may also delve into issues such as racial disparities in sentencing, the impact of mandatory minimum sentences, and the use of solitary confinement.
Some notable examples of documentaries about prison include "The 13th" (2016), which explores the intersection of race, mass incarceration, and the criminal justice system in the United States, "The Stanford Prison Experiment" (2015), which re-enacts the infamous psychological study of the same name, and "O.G." (2018), a fictionalized account of a man's struggle to reintegrate into society after serving over two decades in prison.
These documentaries can shed light on important issues surrounding the prison system and can be a powerful tool for sparking discussions and promoting change.
Alcatraz is a former maximum-security federal prison located on Alcatraz Island in the San Francisco Bay. It operated from 1934 to 1963 and was known for housing some of the most notorious and dangerous criminals of its time.
Alcatraz was designed to be a highly secure and isolated facility, with thick concrete walls, metal bars, and guard towers. Inmates were confined to their cells for up to 23 hours a day and were allowed only limited access to exercise yards and communal spaces.
Some of the most famous inmates at Alcatraz included Al Capone, George "Machine Gun" Kelly, and Robert Stroud, also known as the "Birdman of Alcatraz". Despite its reputation as an impenetrable fortress, Alcatraz had several famous escape attempts, including the 1962 "Escape from Alcatraz" in which three inmates managed to escape the island and were never seen again.
Alcatraz was closed as a prison in 1963 due to its high operating costs and the deteriorating condition of the facilities. Today, the island is a popular tourist attraction and is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Visitors can take guided tours of the prison, including the cells, the mess hall, and the library, and learn about the history of this infamous institution.

Love And Romantic Swims
When the renowned American swimmer Ben Solo finds a girl close to drowning in the swimming complex where he trains at, he jumps in to save her from the watery dangers that surround her. What he does not expect is to realise how beautiful she is and his falling for her in a way that would enrich his life so immensely.
Happy reading everyone at
Excerpt:
"You have a beautiful name. Very lovely. So Rey Skywalker, what were you doing in the deep end of the pool when you clearly can't swim?" Ben quips with the corners of his lips turned up. Rey beams at Ben before she replies with a shrug of her shoulders. "I wanted to learn. There were many sources online which said that I would be good to go as long as I had a float. And my father always advised me to just throw myself into the worst of situations and struggle from there. When there is a will, there is a way. ".
Ben cringes as his shoulders shudder before he retorts "That is the worst advice which anyone can give to a person who has never swum before. If you are going to do something, do it right. I will give you private swimming lessons myself. Rey Skywalker, by the end of the month when I am done with you, you will be so water-safe that the memory of you slipping from your float on this fiasco of an attempt will be a laughing joke of the past.".

Bingqiu roleswap where disciple Shen Yuan knows he's gay, and figures out that he has a big huge crush on his handsome Shizun, but also concludes nearly at once that he's not going to be drawing Luo Binghe's eye any time soon. Firstly, Luo Binghe is notoriously straight. Secondly, even if he weren't, he wouldn't go for his scrawny untalented nerd of a disciple! Shen Yuan's not bad looking, not before or after transmigrating, but he's neither a beautiful nor a hot manly man, and he assumes if Luo Binghe were into dudes he'd be into the same kinds of twunks that Shen Yuan likes. Guys on his own level, etc etc.
Plus Luo Binghe hated the original disciple Shen, and only started to warm up to the transmigrated version after Shen Yuan got injured in front of him trying to stop the other disciples on the peak from killing a small animal. For some reason, Luo Binghe brought Shen Yuan medicine. He got even nicer after Shen Yuan distracted the skinner demon by trying to convince it to take his skin instead of Luo Binghe's, and then again when Shen Yuan successfully fought off a demon invader -- though initially when Luo Binghe volunteered him for that job, he thought it was an assassination attempt. His heart was in his throat when Luo Binghe nearly took a poisoned blow for him, but luckily he reacted more quickly and got hit by the thorns instead. His heavenly demon blood took care of the poison, and he managed to convince everyone that he narrowly avoided getting cut at all.
Shen Yuan's careful not to read anything into it when Luo Binghe finds out about his, erm, uncomfortable dormitory situation and moves him into the side room, or when he completely messes up trying to make dinner and Luo Binghe takes over cooking and bans him from the kitchen (he swears he's not actually that bad at cooking, he just never had to use a kitchen without a microwave or an electric hot plate before...)
After all, it's not like Luo Binghe is cooking for him, he's just making food he likes and letting Shen Yuan eat it too! Because he's nice! He's way nicer than the book gave him credit for being, see, clearly Shen Yuan was correct in signing up for his defense squad, "top ten worst villains of all time" his ass that poll was nonsense...
Unfortunately, though, the plot's still gotta plot. Shen Yuan is heartbroken when the Immortal Alliance Conference rolls around and his shizun stabs him and throws him down into the Endless Abyss. Heartbroken, but not surprised. After all, it was always going to go this way, wasn't it?
But at least, now that it's done, he has some agency in how he reacts to it. He's changed the story enough that he doesn't need to go get revenge. Maybe Luo Binghe's still the villain of his story, maybe that was inevitable, but some heroes let the villains get away. Don't they? It's all part of that noble, breaking the cycle of abuse type stuff. He can be that kind of hero. He can let it go. As long as he avoids Luo Binghe altogether, it should be fine, right? It's not like he's obligated to turn people into human sticks. He asked the system, he's definitely not!
Technically he's not even required to conquer the demon realms. He just has to get out of the Abyss and the be sufficiently cool and/or tragic. Conquest is just one means of doing that, and not even Shen Yuan's preferred, since he doesn't exactly want to rule over anybody. Going around the demon realms beating up some jackasses and rescuing some damsels in distress and becoming sworn brothers with Shang Qinghua, one of the current demon kings, is suitable. He definitely doesn't want to marry any of the damsels he encounters (thank fuck the system lets him off the hook for that!)
But eventually he has to go back to the human world. Not only is it mandated by the system, but he also misses living there. The demonic realms are in many ways better than expected, plus a lot of the monsters are really cool, but he misses the weather and plants and the people he's more accustomed to being around.
He misses Qing Jing Peak, if he's being honest with himself. Shizun's cooking and the bamboo forest and the crisp mountain breezes, the comforts of home.
Not that he can actually go back there in specific. Of course not. If he did that, Luo Binghe would try to kill him, or else the system would try and make him kill Luo Binghe. Bad ideas all around. No, he can't go back to Qing Jing Peak, but he can go find someplace nicer than the demon realms at least. He just has to keep a low profile, which shouldn't be hard since the original goods did that even while actively scheming to kill his former master!
Except.
Everywhere he goes, suddenly Luo Binghe is also there?!
Good thing Shen Yuan thought to take a page out of the book of Luo Binghe's actual love interest, Liu Mingyan, and start wearing a veil. He just didn't want any randos who might have seen him at the Immortal Alliance Conference or on any of the other missions his shizun sent him on to recognize him. But one minute he's investigating a strange case in Jinlan City, and the next the streets are full of Huan Hua cultivators (Shen Yuan has no intention of joining them, that's the path the original took to getting revenge! He doesn't want revenge!), and then Luo Binghe and Sect Leader MBJ and Peak Lord SHL show up, and SY is ducking down alleys and hiding behind columns, just trying to stay out of the way until the lockdown on Jinlan lifts and he can leave.
Except...
Luo Binghe really isn't acting like himself?
He looks like he hasn't been eating or sleeping well. There are dark circles around his eyes, and something almost melancholy in his countenance. And he's dressed entirely in white, none of the usual Qing Jing greens and blues anywhere to be seen. Of even greater concern, he's being reckless. Shen Yuan can't stop himself from rushing out when he sees his former shizun get infected by a sower demon.
Luckily, it's been some years since the last time they saw one another. Shen Yuan's gained a few inches in height, so he's almost at eye-level with his old master now, and though he's still more slender than bulky he's picked up some totally new styles from training the demon realms. He doesn't move the same way he used to. With that, plus the veil, it's enough for him to quickly swallow back his words as he grabs Luo Binghe and quickly administers a cure for the sower infection.
Well, he has one of course. He wouldn't need it himself, heavenly demon blood and all, but his time running around playing hero in the demon realms meant he rescued a lot of humans from such fates. Which is hard to do if you don't have a cure to their afflictions, but between him and Shang Qinghua, sourcing such things was almost easy.
Luo Binghe looks at him like he's just seen a ghost. The other Cang Qiong sect members are alarmed by SY suddenly accosting one of their own and of course find him suspicious, so he runs away right after, and then he has to lose Sha Hualing's pursuit in the city.
But what else could he do? He manages to evade the system's attempts to railroad him into meeting Gongyi Xiao, avoids the rest of the Cang Qiong crowd, and drops some of the cure through the current Qian Cao peak lord's window to get the incident sorted out. Then he flees and puts a good amount of distance between himself, Jinlan City, and every righteous sect he can think of.
The only problem is that after this point, Luo Binghe is everywhere.
Any time Shen Yuan stays in one place for longer than a few days, Qing Jing disciples start turning up. Any time he takes a job hunting some cool-sounding monster or pursuing some interesting tome of knowledge, the better to satisfy the system, it seems like Luo Binghe has selected and gone after the exact same target! Which is especially annoying because back when SY was a disciple, Luo Binghe was always assigning him to do this stuff. Since when does his chronic homebody master have an interesting in six-tailed scorpion lemurs or ancient spiritual kilns?
What's weirder, though, are the rumors.
It seems like any time SY stops at some well-populated place and asks for the latest gossip, he has to hear about how the Qing Jing peak lord lost his beloved disciple during the Immortal Alliance Conference, and mourned like a widow, and now wanders the earth in search of solace for his grief. Seeking something, possibly even the ghost of his dear disciple.
What nonsense! Luo Binghe threw SY into the Abyss himself. He had to do it, it was the plot! And also his obligation as a righteous cultivator, confronted with a "dangerous" half-demon. Does it sting? Yes it stings! That's why SY wouldn't just forget it! Despite logically knowing it's pointless, is there some part of him that wishes his master would have chosen differently? That thinks he should have known that no matter what kind of power Shen Yuan had, he would never use it to hurt people recklessly, or harm innocents, or especially not harm... well. It's pointless, his blood condemned him, and if there is some part of Luo Binghe which regrets what happened, it's doubtless just that he unwittingly harbored a monster for so long.
Which is fine and Shen Yuan would leave it at that, if the guy would just let him!
But no. Instead he has to deal with Luo Binghe turning up and asking him questions, trying to get him to talk (SY has no hope of disguising his voice, if he says anything he's not even sure it won't crack as he comes perilously close to tears instead, so he just stays silent), and then asking for his name, asking if he's mute, asking about his background, his sect, his kin. Is his a righteous cultivator? Where did he get that sword? (NOT Xin Mo, thanks, he used that thing once and then tossed it back into the Abyss before the portal finished closing behind him -- he knows a poisoned chalice when he sees one, although knowing the plot twist about that sword from the novel sure helped.) Where did he learn those forms? Is he... does he have a safe place to go home to? Someone to tend his injuries? Make sure he eats his meals?
SY, of course, stays silent. But it's difficult. Not only because Luo Binghe asks, but because he still looks... bad. Sunken, sorrowful, desperate almost. Shen Yuan can't figure out if he knows or not. Maybe he's unsure, maybe he's looking for SY to give him a sign, so that he can figure him out and then flip a switch and try to finish the job he started.
That can't happen. If they fight, SY will win, and he doesn't want to hurt Luo Binghe.
But even if Luo Binghe's not a heavenly demon, he is a highly accomplished cultivator, and it seems he's got his own breaking points to reach. Eventually he corners SY and gets a hand on his veil, and for a moment SY is sure he's going to rip it off, see his face, and confront him all "I knew it was you, you twisted evil demon, you won't escape justice a second time" and he feels a deep, icy terror close around his lungs--
Luo Binghe lets go of the veil before he can lift it.
But then something even worse happens. Because Shen Yuan's handsome, peerless, noble master breaks down. He falls to his knees, begging forgiveness, sobbing, clutching at his head like he's being driven to madness.
It all spills out of him, then. How he pushed his own dearest disciple into the Abyss, which obviously SY already knew, but also how he was apparently qi-deviating the whole time, and his senses could not differentiate between one kind of demonic "threat" and another. How he realized what he'd done only after he regained his senses hours later, and rushed back to the place where the tear to the Abyss had opened, but could not find a way in after the one he lost. How he had betrayed and thrown away the only person who cared about him, and couldn't even explain that he hadn't intended to. How he would accept anything, any punishment, hatred, penance, or revenge, if only he could see his disciple's face once more.
SY is stunned.
Apparently, Luo Binghe hadn't rejected him for his demon blood?
Not only that, but beforehand, he seemed to have valued Shen Yuan a lot more than Shen Yuan would have credited.
Is it a trick? Is he lying? SY would have guessed so, would have assumed that Luo Binghe's plan was to lull him into complacency only to turn on him once he finally had confirmation. But somehow, he just... doesn't think this is an insincere display. His old master is too cool for this stuff! He has too much dignity to just throw it away on a scheme! There are other ways to get what he wants.
Even if it is a lie, Shen Yuan is tired of running. He's the hero. He won't actually lose, and if it comes to it, it's still in his hands to decide if he wants to spare Luo Binghe or not (he does, of course he does, even if this whole spiel is an act). Plus he's got a backup plant body in one of Shang Qinghua's greenhouses if all goes to shit.
He takes the veil off himself.
Luo Binghe, teary-eyed, stares at him as if his face is the most beautiful he's ever seen.
Shen Yuan nearly puts the veil back on. His cheeks heat up. Dear Shizun, aren't you an immortal master? A noble peak lord? Isn't it your calling to vanquish demons? Get up off the dirty ground right this minute! Where did your dignity go? Shen Yuan did not spend all those nights doing the laundry to watch his teacher dirty his knees for no good reason!
There's a quaver in Luo Binghe's voice as he points out that Shen Yuan was terrible at doing laundry. Luo Binghe had to redo it the day after, all the time.
Shen Yuan chides at him that he should have made one of the other disciples do it then.
Luo Binghe just laughs, and stays on the ground, until finally Shen Yuan has to physically pull him up. Muttering about how he's being ridiculous, what's he crying for, why's he been moping so much, doesn't he know that handsome face should never look so bereft? Then he realizes what he's saying and shuts his mouth, but Luo Binghe just looks happy for the first time in years. Since the Abyss. How is it possible that SY, who actually had to slog through that awful place, can still smile more than Luo Binghe, who didn't?
They're standing so close. Holding on to one another. Almost as if... as if the scene's tone is... well...
Oh what the hell!
Shen Yuan closes the last little bit of distance between them, and kisses Luo Binghe.
#svsss#scum villain's self saving system#bingqiu#long post#of course the plot probably interferes further then#turns out that while luo binghe was desperately trying to get sy back he accidentally woke up sy's father#who for this au let's say is sj instead of tlj#sj does NOT approve of this match and also hates all the righteous cultivators (and demons... and everyone mostly...)#but he is also busy trying to resurrect yqy or something#kidnaps sy like well I missed the chance to raise you and actually that's probably for the best but now I need your blood#for Reasons#luo binghe is not a fan of this turn of events#reverse holy mausoleum arc when SY is mostly unconscious except to sometimes throw out advice and LBH is dodging traps and villains#the pining-over-the-dead-shizun arc is probably AFTER the holy mausoleum and lbh self-destructs to rescue sy from sj's plans#sy refuses to accept this outcome he decided luo binghe was NOT to die he didn't need a redemption arc he was FINE sy DECIDED#but luckily they're in the holy mausoleum so sy grabs a resurrection artifact of some kind#has to spend a few years restoring and maintaining lbh's corpse before he can get the to actually work but it's fine#he's fine everything's fine he's GOING to get lbh back lbh is NOT ALLOWED TO DIE#luckily unhinged sy results in way less collateral damage than unhinged lbh#so mostly he just fights off mbj's attempts to honorably recover his shidi's body and offer him a proper burial#while camping out in the holy mausoleum and arguing with sj's detached body parts#y'know normal healthy behavior

It’s a Dragon’s World Chapter 13
Pt. 13 The Fifth Dragon From inside my cell, I could hear Ben's screams. Those weren't normal screams from what I could tell. I could also hear the voices of two other people. I assumed it was his parents. "Behind us is Titus, as well as some baby dragons." They explained. I could hear footsteps: It was Sarah! I tried to run towards her but chocked a little. I remembered I was still chained by my neck to the wall. I struggled a little as I clawed at the air. I look at Sarah while I struggled. She looked shocked at what she was seeing. "Why...why would you do this?" I heard her ask. "Why should we tell a little girl why we do what we do?" Ben's mom asked. I couldn't believe that this was how Ben's parents really were like. They were so nice to me when I was younger. Was that all just a lie? I heard two more footsteps: It was Ben and Lucas this time! I never thought I'd be so happy to see them. "Ben! Lucas! Sarah!" I exclaimed. Ben grabbed hold of the door handle and pulled on it. It didn't budge. "Dammit! OPEN!" He shouted.
"That's no good, Ben." His mom said. "To open the cell, you need one of the keys." "Well then, will you give the key to us, or do I have to force you to?" Ben said. Ben's dad jumped at him and pinned him to the ground. He seized hold of Ben's neck. "DON'T YOU THREATEN US! WE GAVE YOU YOUR LIFE AND WE CAN ALSO TAKE IT AWAY!" Ben's dad shouted at him. I could hear Ben struggling to breathe. I clawed at the air some more. I didn't want to see Ben get hurt. Just then, I heard a roar outside. Ben's dad let Ben's neck go and got up to see what it was. I heard the wall start to break. The impact from the destruction sent me flying halfway across the room. It was Angela! She landed in the opening she made. I got up and ran over to her. The chain that held me to the wall was still fastened around my neck but at least now I was free. I ran up to Angela. She lowered her head and I nuzzled up against her. "This is bad!" Ben's mom said. "We gotta let the leader know." Ben's dad finished. Ben's parents ran towards the entrance. Angela walked over to the cell door and knocked it back with her tail. I dashed out and reunited with my friends. I was overjoyed to see them again. "Are you alright, Titus?" Lucas asked. "Yeah. I'll be fine. What about Ben?" "I'll be okay. I'm just glad you're fine." Ben said. "Okay, now let's get out of here!" Sarah exclaimed. "Not yet." I said. "I can't leave these little dragons in this place. Angela, we'll go on ahead. Could you free these little guys?" I asked. "Yeah. If we're going to save you, we should save the others imprisoned here." Angela replied. "Thanks." I said. As we made our way for the front door, we heard someone call out to us. At the upper section of the entrance was Ben's parents and a mysterious man. They had Jessie, Kyle, and Jackie as their hostages! "Ben!" Jessie yelled out. "Help us, daddy!" The kids screamed. "Let them GO!" Ben shouted at the mysterious man. The man got on one of the railings at the top and jumped off it. I was amazed when he landed. He didn't appear to be hurt. And especially after jumping off what must have been a two story drop. "So you're the dragon, Doulstraz. The baby dragon who thirteen years ago, managed to, with the help of his parents, escape to this world." He said, with a wicked smile. "Who are you?!" I asked. When I looked into his eyes, it felt like I was looking into an eternal blackness. Yet, it felt like what I saw was not the real thing. Almost like there was more to him. This man had the most penetrating eyes. They probably could make a grown man quake in his boots. He had reddish brown hair that was slit back and he had two sets of nose piercings. "I guess I should introduce myself." He said. "I..am Saulstrance. I am the one who is in charge of this organization. I am the one who organized that the baby dragons of the Dragon Realm be kidnapped and that their parents be killed." The man, now known as Saulstrance explained. "But why would you do something so horrible?" I asked. Saulstrance looked at me with a cold look. Then walked over to me. He grabbed me by my horns and held me above his head. "Horrible is what you and your friends have done, little dragon. Barging into my organization, attacking my guards, destroying parts of my organization. I should punish you right NOW!" He shouted. "Let Titus GO!" Sarah exclaimed. Saulstrance looked over at her. "Don't you EVER command me again, you filthy human!" Saulstrance threw me at a wall. I landed with a thud. "Titus!" My friends exclaimed, rushing over to me. "Doulstraz, do you know that a dragon's blood can do more than just extend the lifespan of the average human?" Saulstrance asked. With the snap of his fingers, some of Saulstrance's henchmen brought in a captured Angela. They had her tied to the ground. One of the other henchmen brought what appeared to be a sword to Saulstrance. "Let me show you what I mean!" Saulstrance shouted. He ran for Angela with his sword in his hands. He lodged his sword into Angela's heart. As I bear witness to what just happened, I was at a loss for words. Angela coughed up some blood and her head lowered to the ground. As her blood spilled onto the ground, Saulstrance put his hands next the open wound and let the blood flow out into his cupped hands. He brought his hands to his face and drank the blood. "When a dragon loses blood from its heart, that blood can even so much as break curses." Saulstrance explained. Tears flowed down my face. Sarah's hands covered her mouth in shock. Lucas and Ben also seemed to be close to tears. I walked towards Angela. "Ti....tus." Angela said, she really sounded like she was going to die. "Please Angela, don't talk." I pleaded. "Ti...tus. I'm...so glad...that your....parents....let me...look after you." I gasped as my tears traveled down my face. "Do you...want to know...the secret...of your...tail?" She asked. "My tail?" I asked back. "When...you were...just beggin...ing your...transformation...your tail...had a mind of...its own...do you...know why?" Angela asked. I nodded. I didn't. "It...was...because of...me." She explained. "But how?" I asked quietly. Angela gave a faint chuckle. "When...you've been...around...as long as...I have...you tend to...learn...things like that." I shut my eyes and cried. "Angela." "Doulstraz. No...Titus, please...become...a good dragon. Don't...turn out...like Saulstrance." And with that, Angela shut her eyes. "Angela, wake up!" I pleaded. "ANGELA!" I nudged at her. Nothing. Everyone else cried and tried to hold back their tears. "Titus..." Ben said, sadly. "She...she's dead." "No." I thought to myself. "NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" I screamed in pain and sadness. Just then I heard screams from Saulstrance. We turned our attention to him and noticed that he was transforming. He was turning into a dragon! But how? I wondered. I remembered that he said something about the blood of a dragon's heart being able to cure curses. But did that mean...that he was a dragon himself? We watched as his transformation came to an end. He let out a mighty roar and looked himself over. "I'm finally myself again." He said, licking his muzzle. "I guess I should thank that dragon though. Allowing me to kill her so that her heart's blood would be the catalyst to restoring me back to my true self. How foolish." He said arrogantly. I growled in anger and sadness. I had heard enough of this jerk. I'd never forgive him for killing Angela, but to even insult her in DEATH made me furious. I walked towards him and stopped after five steps. "What? You want to challenge me or something, little dragon?" Saulstrance asked. "No." I said, quietly. "I want to kill you!" I glared at him with a stern, serious look. I was NOT going to let him get away with killing one of my closest friends. I rushed for Saulstrance. "I'M GONNA KILL YOU!!!"

“Convicts’ Heroism To Be Noted,” Kingston Whig-Standard. January 28, 1942. Page 1. ---- A report on the heroic action of five short-term prisoners at Kingston Penitentiary who pulled the body of an R.C.A.F. pilot from a burning plane Monday afternoon, will be forwarded to the minister of Justice by Warden R. M. Allan.
“I will make a report to the department but I can’t say what recommendations I will make,” said Warden Allan today.
“Any statement will have to come from the department itself. Names of the prisoners will have to be given out by Ottawa.”
The five prisoners were working in a stone quarry when a Harvard training plane from Uplands Air Station at Ottawa crashed in a field nearby. The prisoners and a guard pulled one of the pilots from the plane but were driven off by the intense heat before they could release the second. Even then the prisoners moved the tail of the aircraft In the hope of getting the body out.
Watched Plane Prisoners had noticed the plane in difficulty shortly before the machine crashed. The airmen LAC. Gordon Francis Clark of Kingston and LAC. A. C. Cornell of Toronto were killed.
Warden Allan said that although he had been in the penitentiary service for 28 years, he had never before seen an act of heroism on the part of convicts.
If clemency was recommended, the report on the convicts’ action would have to be sent by the superintendent of prisons to the remission service, according to Warden Allan.
“The penitentiary branch has nothing to do with clemency," said Warden Allan. “All of that is handled by the remission service.”
It was recalled that 10 years ago four prisoners were released when they assisted in the rescue of other inmates from a burning penitentiary in Quebec.
It was reported yesterday that only four convicts participated in removing the airman’s body and in attempting to release that of the second flier but Warden Allan said today five inmates took part.

Caretaker walked along the edge of the camp with Teammate One. They were not happy about the conversation they were having right now.
"I'm just saying, Caretaker. We do have to prepare for all possible outcomes."
Caretaker shook their head, tears stinging their eyes, but they didn't reply.
"Whumpee not...not being alive is a situation we have to prepare ourselves for, Caretaker." Teammate One's voice was careful, gentle even.
"They're alive, I know it." Caretaker had to believe Whumpee was alive. Had to believe Whumper wouldn't have grabbed Whumpee if they had just been planning on killing Whumpee.
Teammate One sighed. "Caretaker that last voice memo--"
"Doesn't mean they're dead."
Teammate One stopped walking. "A scream cut off by a gunshot? At the very least, Whumpee is not ok, Caretaker. Wouldn't it be better to prepare yourself for the worst possible outcome?"
Caretaker swallowed. The truth was they hadn't stopped thinking that they had heard Whumpee's final words. Heard their final cries and pleas for mercy. And heard the shot that ended their life. But they weren't going to give up. "And that's why we have to breach the compound. Now."
