if you only bring up the mistreatment of the black characters when you need cannon fodder to talk down on rhaenicent but you are quiet on how laena and her daughters were shelved, stripped of personality and only exist to be there to uplift rhaenyra, and daemon then you don't care.

especially given how laena was written as a way to build up daemyra. and let's not even get started on how most of you people (non black at that) are trying to make the very real issue of racism the cast is facing a team black v team green issue. just like you try to make the poor writing and treatment of two black women actors and one black nonbinary actor a team issue.

Luke/Aemond, Jace/Helaena and Jace/Sara are the direct result of Baela and Rhaena being black. It’s not outright racism and I think a lot of fans genuinely don’t realise their own bias, but the fact of the matter is they’d rather ship Luke with his killer and Jace with a woman he barely interacts with or a character that might not even exist simply because they’re not black.

It’s the same way one even thought about Aegon III/Jaehaera until the show because it’s clear Daenaera’s going to be black. Suddenly it’s all “wouldn’t it be better if both sides continued?” or “this is more poetic”. No one was saying this when the Velaryons were white.

I’m even wary of Jace/Cregan because of how fans love to fetishise mlm, especially when a woman of colour is the main love interest.

This kind of racism needs to be called out more, regardless of whether you’re Team Black or Team Green.

I agree completely, anon! It bothers me a lot how Baela and Rhaena are sidelined and their love interests are shipped with everyone but them. It is racism and I don't think people realise this, which is really fucked up.

Adding onto Driftmark scene, I hate that Jace & Luke were standing alone until Rhaenyra showed up :( even when Rhaenys and Corlys show up, they still stand alone while Rhaenys tends to Laena & Baela. It makes me sad.

I think if Rhaenyra hadn't walked in at that particular moment, Corlys would have gone to the boys because he was standing right next to them when Rhaenys went to Baela and Rhaena. Rhaenys had rather cold feelings towards boys, but Corlys was rather the opposite and would check why his heir was bleeding in his family seat. But I wonder why none of the caregivers were with them? They had to have someone like that. But yeah, one of them definitely messed up their job, that's why they weren't there.

Baela’s dragon being named Moondancer & Rhaena’s dragon being named Morning gives them the delicious sun/moon imagery GRRM likes for all his sibling duos and it nicely links them to Daenerys, the moon who wanders too close to the sun and hatches when she kisses it.
