Bored In Captivity (River Song x reader)

Summary: getting kidnapped never bothered you as you knew it wouldn't take long for you to be found again

Warnings: mentioned violence (kidnappings, threats, guns, etc.), pretty sure that's it

A/N: I really wanted to write something with River and this is just some short little thing that I was able to come up with. I initially planned on The Doctor actually making an appearance in this since it was supposed to be a fairly obvious poly relationship between him, River, and the reader, but he got left out unfortunately 💔 so it's just implied to be one instead

Any time you went on a trip with The Doctor, there was always the chance of something bad happening and things going sideways fast.

Unfortunately, you were typically the most affected party, and had grown quite accustom to the occasional threats and kidnappings. At this point, if you didn't find yourself in danger at least once a week, then it wasn't a real adventure.

Even trips that were supposed to be nice and relaxing usually didn't stay that way for very long, what with the many power hungry maniacs littered across the universe.

Take now, for example. You were currently tied up in front of some alien dictator, two guards nearby so as to make sure you wouldn't try to escape. Yeah, as if.

You were forced to listen as he droned on and on about how foolish it was of you to step foot in his domain and how amusing it would be to make you watch as he got rid of The Doctor once and for all.

To be quite honest, it was all a bunch of blathering nonsense that you couldn't really make any sense of. You'd tuned him out about three paragraphs into his speech.

Something that did make you perk up, however, was the all too familiar swooshing sound of a certain police box, followed by a commotion that was heard going on out in the hallway. The two guards standing on either side of you glanced at each other uneasily, clearly not liking where this was headed.

The dictator, on the other hand, either ignored what he heard or was just too stupid to recognize the gravity of the situation. He kept talking, though he stopped when he noticed that neither you nor the guards were paying him any attention.

Before he could complain about how rude it was to ignore someone of his high ranking royalty, however, the door blasted open, and he was sent flying backwards by a sudden laser blast to the chest.

The guards both dropped their guns and ran, and you honestly couldn't blame them. After all, you'd hate to be in their position right now. You, on the other hand, had absolutely nothing to worry about.

Letting out a cough, you blinked a few times as your eyes started to adjust to the dust settling around the room.

Despite not being able to see very well, your hearing was near perfect, meaning you were able to pick up the two very distinct words that never failed to send a shiver down your spine and make your heart race (in a good way).

"Hello, sweetie," River purred in a soothing voice as she stepped over the fallen dictator's body, making her way over to you. "Let's get you out of those restraints, shall we?"

Delusional

Summary: When you follow River off a building, you meet a new, old friend.

Paring: River Song x Reader, 11th Doctor x River Song (mentioned), 11th Doctor x Reader x River Song (possible)

WC: 700

A/N: Do you ever just get an idea and you have to write it? No matter if it’s 1 am and it’s not the soundest idea but it’s an idea and it’s something and you haven’t posted in months and you aren’t sure if anyone is actually going to read this or not but you finally wrote something? That was me, then this was born. Enjoy.

P.S.: I’m not tagging anyone on this bc I’m working on a new tag system/update blog so if you’re wanting to know when I post, be on the look out for that :)

“You’re delusional.”

“That’s why you love me.”

She has a point. And damn was that a good point.

“Trust me Sweetie, stay with me for too long and you’ll find out just how delusional I am.” River winks at you. Her smile decorates her face beautifully as she takes your hand. With only mere seconds before the door to roof bursts open with most likely a lot of very large, angry men on power trips, she leaps off the building, gripping your hand tightly as you leap alongside her. River’s laugh carries through the air as you hold your breath, feeling her grip tighten as you close your eyes.

“Do you trust me?”

What a dumb question. “Of course I do.”

“Then we need to jump.”

“Jump? Off the building?”

“Right off, in about 10 seconds.”

You’d trust River with your life, you do trust her with your life. The only problem was the closer and closer the ground got, the more you wish you had her explain this delusional plan to you.

Then the next minute you were safe.

“You can open your eyes now, sweetie.” River’s words take a few moments to register in your brain before you allow one of your eyes to peak open, soon followed by another when you realize you’re fully laying on top of River who is laying on solid ground. At least, you thought it was ground.

With a quick look around your surroundings as you finally get off of the woman and stretch your hand out to help her, you realize you’re in a spaceship.

“Someone call for a pickup?” Your eyes scan for whoever just spoke and you almost come up empty until a bouncy bow tie wearing man pops out from behind whatever that big thing in the middle of the room is. His smile was wide as he looks between you and River.

River takes a deep breath and sighs happily when she’s finally on her feet. “Right,” she grins and walks over the room centerpiece, which are suspecting are the controls with the way River starts pulling and turning all the levers and the spaceship starts moving. “Y/N, this is the Doctor. Doctor, this is Y/N.”

The Doctor was barely able to spare you another glance before he starts trying to shoo River away from the controls. “We’ve met.” He says simply and offers you a quick smile.

You furrow your brows. Surely, you’d remember someone like him and someplace like this. “No, we haven’t.”

The Doctor pauses, looks at you and smiles. “Oh right. Well, never mind then!” You didn’t know what to make of his comments but the name did bring some familiarity.

“The Doctor?” River and The Doctor both hum a yes as you lean against the door behind you, crossing your arms. “So, you’re the Timelord then?” Again, both hum a yes. “So, you’re my girlfriend’s husband?”

There was only one hum this time from River as she kept herself from laughing. The Doctor stood up straighter, his arms falling to his sides and you could see he didn’t really know what to say exactly. You were trying to keep from laughing yourself at his expression before River slaps him on the arm.

“You told her that?” The Doctor whispers but it was pointless as he was quite the loud whisperer.

“I tell her everything.” River shrugs, looking up at you through her lashes with a smirk. “Besides, she’s read my book.”

The Doctor didn’t really know what to say to that. In the time he’s known you, he didn’t know exactly what you knew before you met him.

“Relax Doctor, I’ve been with River long enough to know this is just another part of the adventure.” You smile at River, watching her at the controls as she practically spins around the Doctor. The Doctor hasn’t looked away from you. He was shifting his jaw, his lips lightly lifting up fondly in the corners as he lets River steer you three wherever it was she wanted to go. And he would follow the two of you anywhere.

Omg imagine if River, in the library, recognized Ten as a Doctor, just because she previously met Fourteen. She told him how young he was, compared to the Doctor she knew.

The way their timelines intertwine is a mess, so maybe it could have happened.

Certainly this would not coincide with the fact that she did not recognize Donna, unless she was thinking about how much the Doctor had previously suffered "because of her". Maybe Twelve told her why he had chosen that face, and all the adventures of the Doctor-Donna, and she couldn't tell him, because spoilers, that Donna would return to his side.

Sorry, I'm going to lie in a corner so as not to think about the various implications there could be to make this truthful. 😭

The Doctor's name

Yesterday i had an epiphany.

I was re-watching Doctor Who, for like the 4th time and then, just like that, i came up with this absurde but brilliant theory: we actually know his name.

Spoiler alert

Years ago i read a theory about why in the episode "school reunion" (ss3, ep3) the Doctor repeats the world 'physics' so much. We know that the TARDIS can't translate the language of Gallifrey. But people have to understand what he is saying(in this case the students). Being unable to translate what he was actually saying(for the language and the complexity of the argument) she translated it with something more simple: physics.

Somewhere along the history, it was revealed the name the Doctor used in academy, Theta Sigma. I don't think it is his actual name, because then everyone can know it and use it.

Also, the Doctor himself said that ONLY children can understand his real name.

If you connect the dots, it is really, really simple.

When in the the 11episode of the 10season, Missy says "Doctor who" is the Doctro's name, it's because it fucking is!!

The TARDIS can't translate gallifreyan(?)for reasons. So when the Doctor says his name is The Doctor, he IS saying his name.

It is the same principle like with "physics": he IS saying something, maybe in gallifreyan, but the TARDIS makes it something else, something simple for us to understand. So, the same happens with the Doctor's name: it is translated into something we can understand, something that is near to our translation. The Doctor.

Children know his name, they understand it, they say it. It's just we can't understand it. We can't because....just because!! It is against the law.

Everyone knows his name, but it is different because that's what we hear when he says it!

"Who are you?"

"I'm the Doctor"

"Doctor who?"

"Just, just THE DOCTOR"

Always Missy, she says that he eliminated "who" from his name (so originally it was The Doctor Who) cause he didn't like it.

So,as the example above, he is correcting us on his name. His actual name, cause he erased Who.

In conclusion, i hope it makes sense, aaaaand WE ALWAYS HAD HIS NAME UNDER OUR NOSE!!!!
