The Queen is Dead: A Morrissey X Reader Adventure
hugely inspired by @jemblespee, was given the go ahead to write the second chapter for this legendary work. 10/10 weeped before will again
Tumblr media
beautiful first chapter can be found here:
Steven blinked, the sudden light from the sun of Birmingham beaming onto his weary face. Tears welled as his dainty pale arms created friction against the rubble beneath him, the loss of you, and your scent, by his side.
"How could it have come to this?" He weeped, shaky hands pulling up to cut through the air and to rest onto his face. He barely could pull himself up.
Yet, it was the depravity in the form of his longing for you that forced him to get up. He had to, if he wanted to win you back from the clutches of his ex lover, Robert Smith.
However, on the other side of England, you could care less. Having huddled in together with good ole Rob, the two of you basked in eachother's presence without the.. burden, that used to be your ex. In fact, you had been having such a wonderful time, you had forgotten how Johnny Marr was supposed to come visit soon.
Now while the history between him and Morrissey had been bitter, the prior intense lovers breaking up due to continuous toxicity in a relationship on Steven's end, you had insisted on Johnny staying a constant within your life, finding him a lively person to be around. It had caused several arguments between you and Steven, however you had the upper hand as the Alpha in the relationship.
And as he walked through the door, spotting you and Robert, three of you making intense eye contact with one another, Robbie shot you a knowing glance, the two of you in sync towards your affection towards Johnny. You looked back at Robbie, almost double checking. Yet he gave you a nod, leading the words of invitation to spill like molasses from your lips.
Morrissey was restless. He couldn't stand this feeling, this sinking feeling. He couldn't mansplain manipulate malewife out of this. He needed to find you. He clamoured through cities, running and speaking to each person, even those he detested, all to find you again. He thought that if he just returned, he could make it right.
So he gripped his bouquet of much too long flowers, and slicked back his hair into his classic hairstyle. His "Steven" hair, as he called it. He ignored how you pointed out the idiocy in this name, he ignored it so he could just see you in all the best ways. Best ways, of course, being an asset to him. As per usual.
Nevertheless, the charming vegan graciously ended up at your door in the end, banging furiously.
"Y/N!" He screamed, wailing almost. Yet with it being Morrissey, he held his entitled accent when he had. "Let me in, please! We can just talk this out, I promise you! Then we could merely forget this all, and bask in the-"
"What the fuck?!"
He screamed at the sight in front of him. Johnny Marr, Robert Smith, his old flames. Too close for comfort to You. He couldn't believe it. He crode. He scrumt. He stomped his feet. Yes, he was having a kiddie tantrum.
Yet, it only made it worse when all three of you stood up. And charged.
WHAM! (like the band)
They all crashed into him. Morrissey bleated pathetically like the Omega he is at every blow, each punch hitting him worse.
WHAM!
Another punch across the face. He raised his hands up, begging for the hits to stop.
WHAM?!
Multiple kicks to the groin. Steven wept, trying to put up a fight, yet against the power throuple made of (y/n), Robert, and Johnny, he was no match.
"Wham" - jemblespee, I Know It's Over: A Morrissey X Reader Adventure (2023)
The pathetic man flew to America, crashing into the stage of Radiohead's concert, concerning all male manipulators and racists globally of his potential death.
Meanwhile the throuple rejoiced, basking in smoocherinos and several speakers blearing the song "Pink Triangle" in victory. It tasted sweet, and you knew only good could come from this.
The End.

Thoughts on the ending of Succession
I think Shiv's choice is fairly rational actually. It saves Roman, and if Kendall doesn’t kill himself, it might save Kendall too. But that was probably not on the top of her mind; I think she did it for naked self-interest.  At the start of the episode she might still think she could work with the boys, but over the course of the episode she finally acknowledges that's just not going to happen. Kendall will never accept her as boss or co-boss. Because sexism. Because he's Kendall. He won't share the power. He's staked his whole life on the crown going to the eldest boy, and there's only one crown for only one head. Kendall would never crown her, and it turns out, neither would anyone else. No one believes in her like that. Because sexism. And also because she's Shiv. I think Shiv finally realizes that she can't be on the throne, no matter what. And if being the power behind the throne is the best she can do, there's an argument to be made for picking Tom's throne instead of Kendall's. It's worse for her pride, it makes her look weaker, and it might even be a sentimental miscalculation that the baby could give her more leverage than a continued stake in the ownership. But from a purely financial perspective, thinking about it in terms of future discounted cash-flows, it's definitely what I would do.
So the baby might not give her all that much leverage, fine. But let's face it, neither did her stake in the ownership. It gives her a vote, it might even give her title as COO or even Co-CEO, but it won't automatically make Kendall listen to her. She doesn't trust him to make good choices, to not go off the rails, and when he does, she'll have to plot again to depose him, or the value of her share goes down the drain. It would be a constant struggle. She's just done with that. Investment comes with risks, and she won't take a risk on Kendall. So she takes the pay-out. Makes perfect sense. Giving it to Tom, eh, it's of course a humiliation. But he'll earn more than he could ever spend as CEO (even if he might not stay in that position for long, all those potential scandals just waiting to be exposed) and a lot of that will be eventually left to Shiv’s baby. She'll still be the richer one in the marriage though, because of the pay out, and he’s still just Matsson’s puppet, a position she disqualified herself for by showing too much pride - so while he can probably make her eat a certain amount of crow now, there's very much a limit to the amount of crow he can make her eat. He might have the upper-hand temporarily, but that might just mean they’re more evenly matched taking the long view. And now that they’ve killed all sentiment between them, their business alliance might well be the most robust thing Shiv ever built.  Shiv realizes that she can't have respect, so she chooses the money. Of course these people are all so fantastically rich that we can't imagine money still being a concern for them, but money is power just as much as a crown, and often the more useful part of it. Shiv choosing money over pride is the most rational thing anyone has ever done in this story.
But emotionally, it’s still devastating.     Of course her final vote is not a power move, but a sign of giving up. Just like Roman, she has finally accepted her limitations. Unlike Roman, she’s does not feel liberated by that acceptance. Her limitations are not just limitations of personal ability, but also limitations forced upon her due to her gender. Clearly Shiv has always known that sexism is still a thing, but she thought she was an exception; she's never shown much solidarity with other women, she clearly didn't really think she would share their fate. And that recent ordeal with Matsson has robbed her of those illusions. There's a phrase from a restoration comedy I had to read for college, that will always stick with me, a scene in the third act: The couple is already negotiating the terms and condition of their impending marriage, the woman keenly aware that this is the last time she's got any leverage, hellbent on getting as many concessions as possible before she's ready "to dwindle into a wife". That's what's happening to Shiv - she's dwindling into a wife. She's realizing she's in the same position as the lady in the restoration comedy. This is the last time she's got any leverage. These guys need a yes from her now, and they will promise her all sorts of stuff to get it, and these promises will be worthless, because once they get that yes, she won't have anything to hold them to it. So Shiv trades her yes to Matsson not for a promise, but for a pay-out, and for shot at dwindling into Tom's wife. Since she gave up the hope of anyone casting her in another role, she takes the one that's left.

:: a visitation from god who chastises
It was actually Morrissey alone who confronted Wilson about the possibility of Factory signing The Smiths. Like I said, whatever contacts Morrissey could draw on, he did, explains Marr. 'He physically brought the tape to Tony Wilson to play him. I can remember I was working in X-Clothes that day when he rang me up and told me the news that Tony wasn't into it.’ In fact, neither Wilson nor New Order manager Rob Gretton were taken with their Decibel demo, though Marr contends that Factory's legendary 'failure' to sign The Smiths has been somewhat exaggerated in hindsight (not least at the finale of the Factory biopic 24 Hour Party People, in which Wilson receives a visitation from God who chastises him that 'you probably should have signed The Smiths'). — Simon Goddard

i can go for weeks feeling a great deal of affection towards Johnny but then he will say something that irks me and my goodwill goes out the window and i remember people snidely calling him Johnny Marrtyr and “boring guitar nerd” and laugh
Seymour Stein. Legendary record man. Signed me to Sire Records in 1984
what do you mean “me” what do you mean YOU
Johnny loves calling other people straight and squares but Set the Boy Free post-Smiths was a slog to get through for the most part. congrats on your straight-edge lifestyle, marathon man. genuinely happy for you but wrap it up. out of his post-Smiths work, i mostly just like The The and his solo stuff. not that the whole throwing tomatoes at passersby with Matt Johnson story impressed me either. it just made me go wtf. i was horrified and horribly disappointed by how pedestrian guitar rock The Cribs record was. don’t get me started on Modest Mouse’s singer’s voice. that is to say, i’ve given most of his contributions to music post-Smiths the old college try. ok so you lied to Noel about listening to his tape, ok why. did you not want to hurt his feelings or will you say anything to ingratiate yourself with people? out of Johnny Marr was born the evil that is Oasis, possibly his most unforgivable sin (i am KIDDING btw none of this is serious). the jamming sesh with Paul McCartney that went nowhere. love that for you anyway
not that Morrissey was much better in roughly the last quarter of Autobiography with the whole rundown of the venues and crowds he played to but he still managed to make me laugh or sit there agape, like his little anecdote of graciously supplying a homeless lady with the entire stock of his hotel room’s mini bar only to be chastised by an unnamed band member with the suggestion that she might be a recovering alcoholic, and Morrissey having nothing to say to that except “Yes, well...” MORRISSEY! or the kidnapping attempt in Mexico that i’m still not sure if i read it in Morrissey’s autobiography or if it was a Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul subplot or both. also:
My nightly walks with Jesse would begin at the tip of Villa Borghese where Via Ulisse Aldrovandi lines up its glossy array of roadside prostitutes – mostly male, hard-bitten heroes fastidiously attired as sons of Eros. Their eyes are darts of desire, standing in the trees beyond, with legs wide apart. Every single night they are there, like a soccer team awaiting the club bus, and we are struck by how none of them are identifiably emasculated; they are just manly sons of mothers in search of others.
his Every single night they are there made me wonder whether it was a safe assumption on his part or his testimony to also being there every single night, gawking. a stunning passage either way
credit where it’s due, Johnny was very engaging in his descriptions of his child/teenagehood and his road to Morrissey’s doorstep. Set the Boy Free is worth it just for that
i did remember the origin of the Rolling Stones’ Angie tidbit that i mentioned, as it relates to Johnny’s wedding and of COURSE it was Simon Goddard, writing for Pitchfork:
Even his wedding to lifelong girlfriend Angie leaves best man Morrissey on the cutting room floor, similarly robbing the reader of the spooky coincidence that as the newlyweds climbed into a car after the service, the Rolling Stones’ “Angie” magically piped up on the radio. The handsome devil is in such details. Without them, *Set The Boy Free *is the drabbest of plain Janes.
so unkind
but it also reminded me of another IRKSOME thing Johnny did:
When he dismisses Morrissey’s godhead Oscar Wilde, whose “talent was spoiled by his smug self-regard and pomposity,” the eyebrow needn’t arch very high before registering the inference.
it didn’t make me raise my eyebrow so much as roll my eyes
anyway, i can’t believe it’s 2023 and people are talking about a Smiths reunion again and it’s all down to a few charitable lines Morrissey let slip in the last 24 hours:
If you could go back in time, right back to the 80’s, and start your music journey over again, is there anything you would change or do differently, or are you content and satisfied with your journey and how you have traversed the entertainment world?
I absolutely love it.  I think the songs are magnificent and after all of the prejudicial crap from the press … my soul is still my own.
That’s good to hear.
To have the Smiths as your distant roots gives me pride, and the reasons why we were ridiculed and rejected have now become the precise reasons why so many people love the Smiths in 2023. It’s on the rise!
outside of tumblr, being a Moz fan who likes, nay, loves Johnny, makes me feel like an oddity
anyway
Do you find this as utterly confusing as the rest of us, that they claim to dislike you, yet can’t quite manage to leave you alone?
It comes across mostly as sexual obsession.
when he’s right, he’s right

My Hero Academia Characters and the Music They Listen to
This is my first time writing headcanons on Tumblr so be nice and don’t be afraid to like/reblog!
✨Aoyama - I feel like he’d obvi listen to French music. I also see him liking pop stuff (bubblegum pop). Artists: Poppy, Katy Perry, Bananarama, Aqua, and New Kids on The Block
🥊Mina - For her I see her as more hip hop since she can breakdance well. Artists: Doja Cat, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, Run D.M.C, Charli XCX, Technotronic, and OutKast
🐸Froppy - She’s very chill so I picture different kinds of lo-fi like Japanese and Rainy lo-fi. Artists: Florence + The Machine, Fitz and the Tantrums, and Weezer
👟Iida - I honestly couldn’t even tell you a specific genre. I can’t really picture one, only just certain artists. Probs some synth wave if I’m being honest. Artists: Queen, Lost Years, Timecop, Børns, MØ, Lumineers, Holy Ghost, and Lord Huron
🥰Uraraka - I feel like she’d be into indie and pop! Probs k-pop too. Artists: HyunA, 4Minute, Blackpink, Alt-J, Christina Aguilera, Stevie Nicks, and Marina
⚡️Kaminari - I get glam rock vibes tbh but also dance hits of the 2000s/2010s with this man. No inbetween. Artists: Duran Duran, David Bowie, ZZ Top, Jay Sean, Taio Cruz, Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, Breathe Carolina, 3OH!3, and The Runaways
🪨Kirishima - I feel like he’d go for anything upbeat and stuff that would make my manly mans hype himself up and feel good! Artists: AJR, The Weeknd, B-52s, Survivor, Young MC, Sean Kingston, and John Cafferty
🎧Jiro - My bestie would be all over the rock, grunge, and alt scene for sure. Probs into some mo music too. Artists: Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Clash, Cutting Crew, Thousand Foot Krutch, Ramones, Breton, All Time Low, Sur, Fit For Rivals, and Sleeping Wolf
🦅Tokoyami - Also into alternative, but more darkwave and industrial. Artists: Type O Negative, Portishead, Massive Attack, Widowspeak, Just Mustard, and Ministry
❄️🔥Todoroki - Very traditional Japanese. I feel like he would hardly listen to music with words, but if he did it would be hella chill with deep meaning. Artists: Sia, Modest Mouse, Grateful Dead, M83, and Pip Blom
💥Bakugo - Rock and Metal. Pissy, angry, loud music. His music and him are 100% on the same page at ALL times. Artists: Nine Inch Nails, KMFDM, Lunatic Calm, AC/DC, Disturbed, Green Day, Hollywood Undead, The Exploited, Dope, Orgy, and Quiet Riot
📖Momo - I feel like she’d listen to classical music as well as just lowkey, chill music. Artists: Valerie Broussard, Ann Marr, Mother Mother, Twenty One Pilots, Lana Del Rey, and Lorde
👊Midoriya - Aw smol bb. I feel like he’d have a well rounded taste. Like tbh he’d be down for really anything. I def get 60s vibes from him though. Artists: The Zombies, Van Morrison, Avicii, They Might Be Giants, The Turtles, The Monkees, and Silversun Pickups
🧠Shinso - Ohoho this man. This MAN is DEFINITELY all over the 80s alt scene. I feel like he’d like stuff that sounds happy or even chill, but the lyrics are depressing. Artists: The Birthday Massacre, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Bauhaus, The Smiths, Caravan Palace, Tears For Fears, Oasis, Bronski Beat, Oingo Boingo, Peter Gabriel, and Genesis
🔥Dabi - Another pissy rock alt bitch. I feel like he would also have deeper meaning in his music without meaning to. Artists: Rammstein, Marilyn Manson, Ice Nine Kills, Motionless in White, Deftones, Pantera, Lil Peep, Grandson, A Perfect Circle, Rob Zombie, and Sisters of Mercy
🩸Toga - hard to decide, but I feel like a girly alternative. Also some k-pop too. Artists: Block B, Melanie Martinez, Ke$ha, Spice Girls, Grimes, K.Flay, Insane Clown Posse, Skynd, and Halsey

The World Beyond
Rating: T
Summary: Some things return to Eva.
Others are lost. Utterly lost.
Quick Note: This is a faster-paced fic, so I'll be doing shorter chapters with 2 entries per week. We got a happy ending to get to here.
Quick quote:
Eva heard a droid speaking to Lana, but even though she knew the language, it – she didn’t understand him.
Not everything came back to her – not all of her skills or knowledge.  Hibernation sickness.
It robbed her of time.  Sense of time.  Memory.  Order of memory.  Names.
Feelings.
Then the building rocked under her feet.  “What’s happening?” Eva asked.
“It’s Vaylin.”  Lana shifted, and Eva was forced to look up at her from her hunched over position. “I can sense it.  She’ll bring the whole city crashing down on you if she has to.”
Swiftly, Lana pulled Eva into a building.
Almost immediately, Koth piped up.  “Lana, are my scanners glitched? Did you just charge headfirst into a skytrooper droid factory?!”
Skytroopers!  That’s what they were called.  That’s what –
The mask called them that.
Darth Marr – the ship.
“Vaylin is almost upon us!  We’re out of options!”
“This is Altair 3 all over again!”
Your operative can prove herself useful again, Theron.
Theron.
You’re still my asset.  It’s an abuse of power.
“Maybe not.”  Eva said the words out loud, as both conversations merged in her head.  Eva reached into a secret pocket of her coat.  She knew it was there – just on the wrong side now.  Because her right hand couldn’t feel it out.
With a huff of impatience, Eva yanked her coat open and pointed at the pocket’s latch.
Lana without hesitation hooked her finger in, then grabbed it.
Lana’s breath caught.  “Your omnitool.  You saved it.”
“Never leave home without it.”  Eva stared at the device in Lana’s hand.  Eva flexed her right hand and shook her head.  There wasn’t enough sensation to even try.  And –
Lana wasn’t – him.  She’d let him do that.  Not her.
Guess it was the day she learned how to use this thing like Hadrian did – left-handed.

The Times Diary: the stroke that softened May
Andrew Marr found himself in Theresa May’s bad books thanks to a moment of clumsiness after his Sunday morning BBC show ten years ago, when his attempt to serve the Tory politician a white coffee went horribly wrong. His producer, Rob Burley, writes in his new book, Why is this Lying Bastard Lying to Me?, that the presenter knocked the jug over, drenching May’s £4,000 silk trouser suit in cold milk. “She was very angry,” Burley writes, and the frost lingered for weeks as May ignored all messages, flowers and offers to pay her dry-cleaning bill until Marr suffered a stroke. Then she sent him a private note that read: “I do hope you’re back on television soon.

Feilberg is forgotten but the series, with the sardonic title "The Way We Civilise", is famous because here, the barbarity of the system was laid bare in unforgettable detail. Feilberg's opening salvo has been celebrated ever since:
This, in plain language, is how we deal with the aborigines: On occupying new territory the aboriginal inhabitants are treated in exactly the same way as the wild beasts or birds the settlers may find there. Their lives and their property, the nets, canoes, and weapons which represent as much labor to them as the stock and buildings of the white settler, are held by the Europeans as being at their absolute disposal. Their goods are taken, their children forcibly stolen, their women carried away, entirely at the caprice of the white men. The least show of resistance is answered by a rifle bullet; in fact, the first introduction between blacks and whites is often marked by the unprovoked murder of some of the former – in order to make a commencement of the work of "civilising" them . . .
A few have always protested in the name of humanity against such treatment of human beings, however degraded. But the protests of the minority have been disregarded by the people of the settled districts; the majority of outsiders who take in no part in the outrages have been either apathetic or inclined to shield their companions, and the white brutes who fancied the amusement, have been murdered, ravished, and robbed the blacks without let or hindrance. Not only have they been unchecked, but the Government of the Colony has been always at hand to save them from the consequences of their crime.

Me nuk do jem e merzitur qe nuk flasim me. Do bej te kunderten. Do gezohem qe pata rastin te marr kete pervoje te re, dhe sado here qe ai do bie nder mend e mia, nuk do qaj por do buzeqesh duke qene e mbushur me falenderim qe, pavaresisht gjithckaje, mora kujtime qe mund t’i cmoj e mesova shume gjera te reja.
Zoti e ruajte.
