All these hate for Captive Prince really taste like some of the anti complaints for horny fics on ao3 lol - slavery, prostitution, rape, CSA, oh my! *clutches pearls, or whatever is the gen-z wears these days* - to these anti Captive Prince, what is your published original M/M fiction then? Heartstopper? Because it’s self-proclaimed, high-horse “different that other BL” author notes? *snort derisively*

Uh... do you mean the discussions on this blog? Because we outlined our problems with Captive Prince just fine, and they aren't that it's problematic. They're that it's bland and the characters are incompetent.
I haven't read that much m/m high fantasy, but I guess the closest in tone in terms of humor, trauma, etc. or lack thereof that I thought was pretty interesting was Blyd and Pearce by Kim Fielding.
I'm a big fan of the Starfig Investigations series, but I can hardly compare that given that it's wacky Robert Asprin-style fantasy full of puns.
Heartstopper sounds like a snoozefest. You've got to stop assuming people are mostly consuming m/m that got mainstream recognition. That's not where the good shit is.

Any good (non Warhammer) book recommendations?
If you haven't read it yet: Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. An increasingly detailed world with very subtle humour and a lot of social criticism/comment in the attractive guise of a hilariously funny fantasy series. Each novel can be read on its own, but they are even better if you follow the internal chronology, as there are often inside jokes that refer to previous books. Discworld is definitely now literary canon and so much of modern media refers to it.
When it comes to darker fantasy, the Thieves' World anthologies by Robert Asprin are highly recommended. These are also classics, but have unfortunately been largely forgotten. Very bloody, brutal and with no good endings for anyone.
(Brief mention of the "Lankhmar" books by Fritz Leiber - Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser-books to be precise - , because they are the classics of the sword & sorcery genre that have probably influenced Warhammer Fantasy stylistically the most. Discuss!)
More hopeful are the novels by Matt Ruff. I really like both his Public Works trilogy and Fool on the Hill. Urban fantasy in a way. But you can't really categorise them.
At the fun, light end of the spectrum are Allan Dean Foster's Spellsinger novels. Talking, very adult-ish animals and sword & sorcery!
Also just light reading are the "Xanth" novels by Piers Anthony. A whole, huge cycle of novels based solely on puns!
These are the first things that come to my mind when I think about fantasy. I forgot so many!

Three ships you like: been a while since i've enjoyed anything shippy, but from the "old flames" - Shepard/Kaidan (ME), Revan/Carth (Star Wars:KotOR), Lavellan/Solas (DA:I)
First ship ever: can't be sure really, but i guess PC/Valen from NwN:HotU? it was my first vg romance, and probably the first time i got invested in any kind of romantic relationship

Favourite childhood book: oh man, i was super into the MYTH Inc. series by Robert Asprin as a kid, i've read so many of those books, even though, looking back on them now, only the first four were actually in any way worth reading. out of those, i guess the third one, Myth Directions, is still my favourite
Currently reading: sadly, nothing, even though my "to read" stack grows by the week
Currently watching: re-watching Star Trek: Enterprise, if it counts. didn't even realize how i missed this show
