I said i would do it before, but since tonights opening night, heres a list of funny things my cast and crew do for the show Puffs that i find really endearing and awesome :))
!!spoilers ahead!!
Act 1
Most if the time, when the Narrator (me) is not onstage, i sit in a little nook on either side of the stage, where i read books, play with a badger plush or my pet pygmy puff (also a plush), write things down, etc. I like to hc that the nook is in the Room of Requirement :) also dw i do get moments where i go backstage and take a break
Wayne wears a jersey with a W on it at the start of the play, it becomes important later
Leanne wears a colorful tutu!
Oliver has a pair of gold glasses
Oliver is from Baltimore, much to his discontent
Snape is played by the same guy who does Ernie Mac, J finch is played by the same guy who does Uncle Dave, and Hannah is played by the same person who does Voldy. Its real funny watching them switch characters
The sorting hat is big fortune teller. I think that was used for a version of the show somewhere else but its so goddamn funny
The training wand Professor McG gives to Oliver is one of those colorful toy wands with glitter and fluid inside that makes it all sparkly
For Professor Turban, he has those red finger lights as Voldy on the back of his turban. One rehearsal they fell on the floor and broke it was really funny
The sorcerers stone that Megan throws to the narrator is just a rock the director found outside. Its really heavy, our stage manager is supposed to paint it red (idk we found the rock yesterday. The rock we usually use fell on the stage and shattered so yeah cant use that anymore rip)
Wayne does a silly robot dance when he mentions Robocop right before meeting Ginny
Ginny is played by our student assistant director, who is a redhead. It couldnt be any other way man she had to be Ginny
Wayne is really tall. Oliver and Megan are around the same size but Wayne towers over them threateningly
When Harry and Ron Mop have a fight and Oliver tries to calm Ron Mop down, at the end Oliver yells at him "How come you get to kiss Emma Watson?!"
Real Mr. Moody has a flask for his potion, like in the series
Cedric wears heart pattern boxers during the bathroom scene. He used to be shirtless but we decided to give him a tanktop cuz it was very weird
The bathroom has a sweet lil ballet segment and we get huge bubble wands!
During the lake watching scene, J Finch falls asleep and starts snoring
Also during that same scene, Leanne panics about the lake and hides her head, then peeks her head out and says "is it gone?"
Viktor is capable of breakdancing!! They do an epic breakdance after the second task!
Each character in the three wizard tournament has a theme song - Frenchy has a french accordian song, Viktor has epic breakdancing music, Cedric has an epic rock and roll guitar riff, and Harry has a silly ukelele song that sounds like a Kevin Macleod song
Cedric and Waynes interaction right before the third task is so wholesome yet heartbreaking
Right before the intermission, i cast a spell to close the curtain
Act 2
Wayne finding out Cedric is dead is the most heartbreaking thing ive ever witnessed. The actor playing him is real silly dude but he got the emotions spot on and i applaud him for it
Ernie and Hannahs sign for "no being too sad" is not all that heavy, but the two actors play it like its the heaviest thing in the planet
J Finch's fav jellybean flavor changes every night. Some of my personal favs of things he has said: "Thermal paste", "plastic", "jellybean flavor", "oh man i forgot what it was, it was really good tho"
When Ernie Mac is fake bullying Hannah so she knows the difference, Ernie says "your face looks like he-whose-name-we-cannot-legally-say" which is funny for 2 reasons: 1, Hannah and Voldy share an actor, and 2, we cant say Voldemort cuz copyright
When J Finch starts "going to the petrified place" after Wayne yells at him, Ernie Mac punches J Finch and yells at him that he cant be too sad
Every single time during the Oliver and Megan kiss scene, Oliver gets Megan's dark lipstick on his face. It is hilarious
When I throw the year 5 book (which is really heavy) to the stage manager, she has decided she would make a new reaction every night. Examples: "hey! Big books hurt!" "You throw like a Puff, AND I MEAN THAT NEGATIVELY!" "The actors are attacking!! Run, stage crew! Run! *slams the door behind them*"
Voldy has a green swim cap and tape on his nose.
When Voldy is giving one of his death buddies a show of affection, midway through he says "i hope you're loving this as much as i am", to which the poor death buddy responds "i hate it 😥"
Oliver and Megan are holding hands while Wayne is asking about grades. Wayne gets sick of it and forces himself between them, breaking their holding hands
Zac Smith is hilarious. Hes played by the same guy who did Cedric before he died in act 1. Zac Smith has so many stupid stories, like one about how he ate a magic muffin, turned into a muffin, and watched his friend who also got turned into a muffin get eaten. Another one is how he watched a magic VHS of the movie Shrek, and the donkey appeared in his home, and he was so annoying that Zac cooked him, and every day he waits for the dragon to come kill him. Most recent one was when he watched a magic VHS of a Midsummer Nights Dream, and had his head turned into a donkey, and was jealous that the donkey man is getting more bitches than him, so Zac decides he'll make his own movie - Zac Smith: the Hot Donkey. I always break character during that scene istg
The actor for Xavia is fantastic. She got that evil dumb mom vibe we needed
Right when Wayne sees Sally Perks leaning in for the kiss, Wayne quickly puts on chapstick and pops his lips. Why, i have no idea but its funny
Megan being torn about whether she should kill her friends or miss this opportunity to be with her mom is absolutely heartbreaking it is so sad :(
During the flashback to when Xavia got recruited, Voldy does the worm and Xavia aggressively flips her hair all over the place.
Voldy canonically does a Jack Sparrow run
Apparently Wayne dances during the flashback scene?? I had never noticed that i need to see that tonight lmao
Xavia struggling to open the doors is so fun. When she gives up she runs into the house, still yelling that she'll be back. Its so golden
The Headmaster falls into the pit for his death. The actor just lays in the pit for the rest of the show until the final important headmaster moment
I have never cried inside harder to a story of how Oliver turned his parents heads into oranges. The scene is so good and emotional :((
Bippy is peak comedy. Bippy is love. Bippy is life. Bippy sprints to the back of the auditorium and its the funniest shit ever
Voldy does amazing crowdwork ngl. He be asking what the difference between witches and wizards are, what the deal with British food is, and what is the purpose of boy bands (they make him want to run the other direction), it gets to the point where the Assistant Director has to take his megaphone away
All the deaths are so sad. I dont really see them all cuz im offstage during the war but when i do catch them its so sad
When Oliver returns hes wearing his scarf like a bandana. You go Karate Kid
Sally drops her glasses before her death. She funbles on the ground trying to find them
When J Finch dies, Ernie cradles him in his arms and its really sad
Bippys death goes on for like years. She just refuses to die until the songs done. Its very funny dear god
Waynes death hurts man
When Wayne arrives at the very white room two guys are holding up a white blanket and they have angel costumes on.
When the Headmaster says "see for yourself" Cedric appears and hands him a Puff scarf. I cant 😭😭😭
Voldy also falls into the pit for his death.
When i show up again as Megan and Olivers child, Wayna, i wear Waynes W jersey he had at the start of the play 😭
"Whether you're a Brave, a Smart, or a... child who vapes in the school bathrooms..."
When Oliver asks Wayna what 3 × 4 is, i act like i know how to solve it. "Oh i got this, 3 times 4, 3 groups of 4, 3 + 3 + 3 +3 is.... i dont know :)"
When i sit in the stool, Waynes arm hands me the Puff scarf. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
During Curtain Call, we all be doing a silly dance. Im dancing with Megan and Oliver, and Wayne runs on to crash the party like he does in play lmao
ALRIGHT THATS ALL
I HOPE YOU LIKED IT THANKS FOR READING MY 12 PARAGRAPH ESSAY

Muse’s Matt Bellamy: ‘I felt that we could do no wrong. Obviously, we could’
By Mikael Wood in the L.A. Times (pasted because paywalls)
Tumblr media
(Brian van der Brug / Los Angeles Times)
Matt Bellamy wrote Muse’s new album in a Santa Monica recording studio painstakingly decorated to resemble the so-called red room from “Twin Peaks.”
Crimson curtains, leather armchairs, black-and-white zigzag flooring: The 44-year-old frontman of one of England’s biggest rock bands reproduced every detail of the otherworldly chamber from the cult-fave TV show he remembers devouring during Muse’s first tour on a bus back in the early 2000s.
“It just sets a certain tone, you know?” he says, looking around the space with obvious pride on a recent afternoon.
Yet as Bellamy sat composing amid a thicket of electric guitars and vintage synths — including an old Roland model he says was the same used for the “Stranger Things” theme — what really inspired him was the tumult unfolding outside the studio, which he observed through an enormous one-way mirror in the building’s front wall.
This was mid-to-late 2020: Bellamy, who’s written for years about the menacing encroachments of technology and government, watched (without those on the street being able to see inside) as shops went out of business during the pandemic, as Black Lives Matter protesters marched through the city, as riot-gear-clad police and National Guard moved in to shut down demonstrations, as a man took up residence in a car parked right in front of the studio. Helicopters seemed to be circling constantly; a drone hovered over Bellamy one day as he loaded gear in through a back door.
“It was like being inside a scene from ‘RoboCop,’” he says now. “All the anxieties and the dystopian strangeness that had always been kind of speculative in our music — suddenly it felt like it was all coming true. It was actually happening.”
The result of his observations is Muse’s ninth studio album, “Will of the People,” on which Bellamy rhymes “a life in crisis” with “a deadly virus” and “tsunamis of hate are gonna drown us.” (Sample song titles include “Kill or Be Killed” and “We Are Fucking Fucked.”) But if the LP confronts a brave new world, it also knowingly looks back: Musically, the band—rounded out by bassist Chris Wolstenholme and drummer Dominic Howard—dials down the fluorescent electro-pop vibe of 2018’s “Simulation Theory” in favor of the harder, more guitar-oriented sound that made Muse a prog-metal sensation more than two decades ago.
Tumblr media
Muse performing in Philadelphia in 2013. (Owen Sweeney / Invision via AP)
What are those so-called worst parts of Muse? Probably a tendency to veer off and experiment in areas that we’re not very experienced in. Most of [2012’s] “The 2nd Law,” for instance — classical dubstep, weird clarinet solos, whatever else is on that album. I think we felt we’d achieved so much with [the 2009 hit] “Uprising” that we could do no wrong. Obviously, we could.
You produced “Will of the People” yourself after collaborating with the producer Shellback on “Simulation Theory” and with Mutt Lange on 2015’s “Drones.” With people like that who are so successful, I think sometimes we’ve gone in the studio and been a little bit like, “OK, we’ll do just whatever you say.” In hindsight, I wish I’d been more involved and put more of our stamp on it. So we’ve kind of gone back to our safe space on this album. If we’re in complete control, it may not be the most cutting-edge or the most modern-sounding thing, but it’s the only way to guarantee that we’re gonna love it.
Tumblr media
(Brian van der Brug / Los Angeles Times)
June 2020 was a heck of a time to bring a baby into the world. I came to America in 2010 as a single person looking to experience L.A. for a bit — and, boy, have I had an experience. Ended up with a Hollywood actress [Kate Hudson], had a baby together and the whole cliché scenario of the ups and downs of celebrity life. Then married a Texan [model Elle Evans] and had another baby. Been evacuated from my house during wildfires. Then the pandemic and the full January 6 Trump meltdown. It’s just been an unbelievable period to be here.
“Will of the People” suggests it hasn’t left you terribly optimistic about the future. It depends what your definition of optimism is. To me there’s a fighting spirit in the music, which is a form of optimism. It’s like the moment in “Rocky” when Adrian tells Rocky to win.
Do you think it’s clear to listeners who you’re fighting? In the new song “Compliance,” you’re singing sarcastically about people falling into line and doing as they’re told. It could be interpreted as an anti-woke anthem. I never thought about it that way. I thought about it in terms of the rising authoritarianism that we’re now seeing is a real thing— Trump in this country, but also Putin and the China situation. These ideologies, I feel like we kind of tested the waters in the 20th century and realized that fascism and communism are both just absolute disasters and that we don’t need to go near that stuff ever again. And yet it’s emerging.
What’s your reaction to that? I have an anti-authoritarian nature. My parents say that when I was a young child I was never very good at being told what to do. I don’t like the idea of vast centralized power that’s very far away from where I live. I come from Devon in England, which is a couple hundred miles from London. But when I went to see where my wife’s from in Paris, Texas, it’s like, Holy s—! It’s thousands of miles from the places of power in America. So the resistance to someone deciding how I should live who has no idea what my day-to-day life is — I can understand it, even though there’s a risk of it being hijacked by more extremist factions that have gone down roads I don’t agree with.
Have you considered becoming a U.S. citizen? I have. Overall, I actually think the United States’ structure is really amazing, with all the different ways to make laws at the local level. It seems like every month my wife is voting on some sort of proposition. I’m looking at that going, Wow, England is so behind on that front. We don’t ever get to vote on policy.
The oddest thing about that late-2020 period where things in America and California seemed so chaotic and crazy was that I felt my connection deepening. There’s something going on here that is critical to what’s happening in the entire world. America has become a kind of center point for this idea that there’s an empire on the verge of collapse, and how do we save it? Or how do we know which parts to save and which parts to let fall away?
For some people — Dom, to some extent — it made them want to get out. But for me it had the opposite effect. It’s everything I’m interested in, and it’s massively creatively inspiring.
Has becoming wealthy shaped your political views? I don’t think so. I remember all my feelings of what it was to be from a poor rural background with no opportunities and all the disadvantages. And I still have some views that would be considered pretty socialist by some. Universal health care is an obvious one; I can’t even believe there’s not universal healthcare here. I’ve also come to the view that maybe land shouldn’t be privately owned.
Can you relate to music that’s unambiguously joyful? Coldplay, let’s say. Absolutely. Chris [Martin] is a friend of mine. I love what they do. I wish I could write more songs that enter the love sphere. But I think it might be against the nature of the sounds our band makes. When the three of us are jamming, it’s like Rage Against the Machine riffs are coming out all the time. I can’t imagine hearing those riffs with Chris Martin singing about peace and love on top.
What’s the happiest Muse song? “Starlight” is pretty positive. I think “Verona” on the new album is pretty nice — little bit of “Romeo and Juliet” in there.
Do you think rock music is in good hands with the generation behind yours? My 11-year-old son likes Slipknot and Metallica. My stepson Ryder from a previous situation [with Hudson], he’s 18 and he’s really into rock. He turned me on to Willow Smith.
Can you envision touring in your 60s and 70s like Paul McCartney and the Rolling Stones? Yeah, but Metallica is the one that’s really made me think we could do it. The Stones and McCartney, they have universally uplifting music. But Metallica — I’m not sure how old they are, but they’re up there — that’s really heavy music and they’re still out there. The great thing about rock is that, even though the genre is largely irrelevant in the mainstream, you can actually grow old with it. You can make a real life career.

Todays rip: 06/03/2024
Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and the days of high quality rips?
Season 7 Featured on: Rips of Christmas Present
Ripped by berg8793
youtube
Requested by itsyeeted! (Discord)
Funny thing - I was supposed to have posted this far closer to new years, but then somehow convinced myself that I'd...already posted it? Just marked it as done in the spreadsheet and everything. Bizarre. Well, its never too late to celebrate the new year, is it? Especially not with a rip as sincere, wholesome, downright pleasant as Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and the days of high quality rips? - This is the kind of rip to remain on the laid-back playlist all year long.
I'm sure a lot of people were a bit puzzled to see a game like Tetris on CDi even *get* rips, let alone any form of non-ironic memes. I mean, its the Philips CDi, it's the meme console with Hotel Mario and the bad Zelda games! But this is another case of what I brought up back in Viva La Robocop, another case of one of SiIva's most fascinating phenomena: when otherwise wholly obscure games are kept in discussion through the surprising quality of their music. With only some exceptions (such as the games composed by the Follin brothers) that discussion seldom becomes widespread, usually staying contained to enthusiasts of VGM: such as the very people behind the SiIvaGunner channel itself! And while many of these soundtracks are kept relevant by chiptune artists, with examples like the aforementioned one, Never Gonna Give Up Mahjong and Beautiful! ~ Curveball of Sean Kingston - Tetris on CDi is, as the name of the console suggests, full-on CD quality, with a sound so stunning beautiful and atmospheric for a game series otherwise so content in reusing and remixing the typical Tetris theme. In the words of Jack Yarwood - "Before 'Tetris Effect,' There Was the Vaporwave Bliss of Tetris on the CD-i".
The wonderous atmosphere of this otherwise entirely obscure release of Tetris has kept its heart beating ever so faintly in the 32 years since its release, and Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and the days of high quality rips? feels just as much like a love letter to this game's vibes as it does a soothing celebration of the new year's beginning. Level 6's soothing tune is used as the backing instrumental to an original cover of the Scottish folk song Auld Lang Syne, one typically sung to inaugurate the beginning of the new year. And it's one that I, despite being from all the way over in Sweden, swear I must've heard in a film or show at some point - its lyrics and melody felt immediately comforting and familiar as soon as I started listening to the rip. Part of that comfort is of course the vocals, berg8793's vocal performance is positively soothing, but it may also be from how the vocal performance is implemented into the rip. It's given a layer of compression to it that matches the quality of early CD games, and indeed the quality of the CDi games' soundtracks themselves, a comfy faint noise and static stitching the two pieces of the rip together as a seamless whole. berg8793 has previously mostly been featured on here in rips that appeared as if they were borderline painful to make, such as Banjostruck and Kirby Joins the Circus!, so it was a delightful surprise to see him having made a rip like this. Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and the days of high quality rips? not only feels like a welcome break in energy from the guy's typical output, but also shows me that he's got a genuine talent for singing - one I hope he finds use of in rips to come!
There's little else to say - Should auld acquaintance be forgot, and the days of high quality rips?, much like Wham! Into Dreams, feels like a cover from the heart, a cover made with the intent of pure celebration, to band us faithful viewers together for the new year in the comments section. Amidst all the shitposts and insane-scale collaborations, it's...nice, to have rips like these to return to for the quieter moments in life.

it's just weird! the more I think about it, the weirder it gets. the track itself is a certified meteora-era linkin park song, all the telltale signs remaining completely intact. and yet, the music video is pure uncanny valley. superficially, the visuals are merely lending themselves to the content of the lyrics; the 3d retread of production i.g.'s animations for breaking the habit being incorporated to reflect the 'memories' theme while the backgrounds warp and fuse into inscrutable ai-generated landscape in service of the song title (and so on). it's the meta aspect that makes it all feel cursed; the filters and ai imagery being pasted over footage of a dead person are so uninspired and unpolished that it's almost in bad taste, but this ends up being what they chose as the meat of the video. snapchat anime face filters and basic anime face ai art generations smudge archived footage of chester bennington that has been interpolated to 60 fps, simultaneously conveying a sense of loss and intended erasure. he pantomimes lyrics about being unable to escape the pain of his past while having been resurrected and augmented by the most cynical aspects of our digital future like some kind of nu metal robocop. the song was good though.

January 11 - What your three favorite vids you've made (and why)? @aurumcalendula
I can’t do just 3, so you’re gonna get 6, because I’ve made well over 200 vids since I started vidding and it’s very hard to do just 3!
I’m sorting this list into two groups—first favorite group features vids that are my faves that emphasize my love/skill of vidding and love of filmmaking/television, and themes. My favorite vids that execute my vision. And the other favorite group is a small selection of My Fannish Joy.
All I Know (original vidpost) - Aliens films - Xenomorphs POV
This is my collaboration with jb_slasher who brought me the concept of a Xeno POV vid idea and had a few songs/bands in mind. We spent months rewatching and having long email exchanges about the visual elements across all the movies, xeno biology and human survival. It was a really really enriching experience to toss the ideas ball back and forth before I had even made my first clip for the vid. Vidding, like writing, can be a very solitary hobby so yeah, this was really great to work through with lyrical associations and debating the merits of each song and how to create pacing for the vid. How to make all the directorial/lighting differences from the various movies work in one vid. I love this vid, it’s definitely one of my favorites.
Warnings for some flickering lights, lots of violence and mutilation/gore.
This is a very lyric-driven vid, so here is Karnivool's All I Know lyrics here.

Watch on YouTube
Rhythm of the Night (original vidpost) - Paul Verhoeven’s 90s sci-fi films
90s euro club music set to Paul Verhoeven’s 90s films: RoboCop, Total Recall and Starship Troopers. I had been obsessed with all these movies when I was a kid and I really wanted to think about his visual style and the themes he was giving us: militarism and fascist society, the corporatization of people, institutions, and the the commons. Ronny Cox and Michael Ironside playing incredible dickbags. Our protagonists trying to survive.
I wanted make a tribute to the films but also make it dancey because holy fuck might as well because the movies are visually ripe for that (in my eye).
So it’s all stylized and edited with my flair for internal motion and mindful pacing. I love the similarities and parallels across these films, I rewatch this vid a lot. I’m so happy with it turned out. Yes, Total Recall has a woman who has three tits and I’m sure there’s a ton of essays out there about Arnold Schwarzenegger performance in this film but damn. The screenplay went so hard about what life would be like on Mars run by a CEO. Augh, everything about the othering of people, class, and labor. The surveillance state. This was in 1990, ya’ll. It’s so good. And everything with RoboCop and Starship Troopers. Ahhh I love it.
My vid’s YouTube quality is really shitty so download: right-click save as or still stream below.
Warnings for body horror, gore, violence, fascism.
I love my editing in this so much.

Watch on YouTube
Hook Shot (original vidpost) - action heroines fanvid. Multi-source (original vidpost)
Hook Shot is my action tribute to a bunch of women across… I think it was over 60 films? Western films, a few European films, HK action goodies. An instrumental track which I don’t do a lot of because I wanted to focus on action elements instead of lyrical associations. And see how much I could make something flow with so many different films. I love this vid. It was an ordeal to find, download, watch, assess, clip and put this vid together but it was really great to get it to work and flow.
Onward to the action heroines vid!
youtube
Fannish Joy favorites:
New Best Friend (original vidpost) - Being Human UK/Good Omens/Killing Eve/Ted Lasso/The Untamed/The Witcher Netflix.
The Sunshine One Loves the Grumpy One. My grab bag of shows/pairings that I have loved and could not resist. Especially the fact that I had three sources where the grumpy one was taking a bath and the sunshine one was present!
This is my heart’s joy okay and I love it a lot. I have hearts in my eyes for my vid. This features my humor, my fannish proclivities for these kinds of dynamics. Plus I have been wanting to vid Neon Trees music since I first heard them live. I had an inordinate amount of fun playing with the Wei Wuxian and Jaskier parallels, lmao. And also accidental child acquisition tropes. Did I mention the NUMEROUS bath scenes??
youtube
Wild Green Yonder (original vidpost) - Shrek/The Witcher Netflix/Hexer. Also on tumblr.
I love trying to put together disparate pan-canon sources. So this is The Witcher Netflix and Hexer (the 90s Polish TV show based on the Witcher books). As well as Shrek because I was inspired by a ton of gifsets on tumblr and I had to go the extra mile for a Yennefer/Geralt/Jaskier thing to parallel with Fiona/Shrek/Donkey. Using The Amazing Devil song Wild Blue Yonder. (For the non-witcher people the male vocalist is the babyfaced bard character in the vid, aka the Live Action Donkey of the OT3 fantasy/fanon-y trope dynamic). These are all nominally the same kind of characters and I just couldn’t resist playing with this fun take on them.
I like what I like, and love what I love. And I love the Witcher Netflix and yes what Hexer does with its own take on the books too. And this is my own take on all of it, fannish joy and squee. Also my secret agenda to get Yennskiers on the Donkey/Fiona shipping bandwagon.
Favorite things about this: everything, but especially Donkey and Jaskier watching Shrek/Fiona and Yen/Geralt mid-coitus, and starting at 0:49 sleep-deprived Geralt fishing for a djinn while Shrek is literally pulling out a make-a-wish calling card. C’mon. I love. It.
I also love playing with two vocalists for the POV in the same vid. I’d never done that before so it was great to play with Madeline and Joey’s voices for Yen/Fiona and Jaskier/Donkey.
Also curly haired Yen, my beloved. Mmmm.
youtube
Bright Star (original vidpost) - Jupiter Ascending
Jupiter Ascending was certainly A Movie. I’m not sure 13 year old me would have truly free enough to embrace it like I wish I could have at the time. But I was not 13 when I made this. I used the 1999 VMA performance of Britney Spears and NSYNC which I really loved at the the song came but. I kind of feel like I fannishly ascended with my love for this vid. I am Beyond Cringe and am now Harbinger of Squee and the Things I Enjoy. The comments on the original vid post are really the best and some of my favorite. I love everyone who joins me in this bar, even if it isn’t your thing, lmao.
The YouTube stream is kind of shitty so here’s a download link to the mp4 file.
This one is my favorite because it makes me grin for how silly it is and how perfect it is in my heart.

And there you have it, 6 of my favorite vids. Ask me again in six months and I can probably give you a different set of vids, ahah.

The 25th anniversary Bond film and first Bond film since Roger Moore retired, The Living Daylights premiered on July 31, 1987. Pierce Brosnan was set to take on the Bond mantle when at the last moment, the makers of the TV show Remington Steele decided to capitalize on all the Bond buzz and hold him to a new season of the cancelled show. This was a failure as the new season only managed 6 episodes before cancelling. The failed season also prevented Steele costar Stephanie Zimbalist from taking a major role in the sci fi blockbuster Robocop. Brosnan was replaced by Timothy Dalton who had decided to pass on the role years earlier because at the time he felt he was too young. However, he only made one more movie before the franchise was forced into hiatus. After years of limbo, Dalton decided to move on and Brosnan was once more offered the role. The Living Daylights and the following Dalton movie both protrayed a Bond closer to the novels, possibly the closest till the Daniel Craig era years later. Following the success of the Duran Duran theme for View to a Kill, Ah-Ha of "Take on Me" fame was tapped for the theme song. Besides the darker and violent take on the character, the movie also had a couple of scenes of actual nudity outside of the opening credits (including Virginia Hey of Farscape). Long time iconic Bond composer John Barry made a cameo as a conductor in the movie. Walter Gotell returned as General Gogol (The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy and A View to a Kill), Robert Brown as M (Octopussy and A View to a Kill) and Desmond Llewelyn as Q (every previous Bond film except Dr No and Live and Let Die). For the first time in the series, the role of Moneypenny was taken over by Caroline Bliss. Previously, since the first film Dr No, the role of Moneypenny had been played by Lois Maxwell making her the most consistent actor to play a role in the Bond franchise. The title and opening teaser was based on a Bond short story written by Ian Fleming. ("The Living Daylights" movie event)

1 and 29 for the music asks!
Thanks!
1) A Song You Can Listen to On Repeat: Ok, this is going to sound insane, but the Robocop Game Boy game's title theme is so beautiful and melancholic. I love it so much that on multiple occasions, I have listened to an hour long version. Just the chillest vibes ever.
https://youtu.be/wGIKnn-COS4
29) A Song From A Band You Normally Don't Like: I really hate Lynyrd Skynyrd, but damn if I don't have a lot of affection for "Tuesday's Gone". Yes, because it was in Happy Gilmore.

Because Kiki like 80s clothing does she like 80s franchise. Like transformers, tmnt, ghostbusters, robocop, master of the universe, Friday the 13th, gremlins, Rambo and back to the future
I feel like she’d be a big fan of ghost busters! She’d be the type of kid to sing the theme song at random without warning
Gremlins I actually think she’d like too, movie seems kind of appropriate for hell in a way (not saying it’s a bad film! I like Gremlins!)
Transforms I don’t think she’d be too keen on but wouldn’t mind, and I can’t say for the others cuz I myself don’t know anything about them

Viva La Robocop
Season 2 Featured on: SiIvaGunner's Highest Quality Rips: Volume L [Side A]
Ripped by Scooblee
youtube
There's something so fascinating about the chiptune community's ability to uncover incredible music from the strangest of sources. In the 80 and 90s, licensed games were being pushed out left and right by companies nobody was talking about, and nobody seems to remember in retrospect. Most of these games aren't considered classics, and many have been forgotten, yet companies like Ocean Software employed some bizarrely talented musical talent for the games they'd make. The obvious example to point to would be the Follin brothers, who would create absolute musical wizardry for games like Pictionary on NES or Bionic Commando for Commodore 64. Its immensely interesting seeing games that would otherwise be swept entirely to the wayside be remembered due to the hidden musical talent they contain.
Robocop for Game Boy is a clear example of this - composer Jonathan Dunn gave the game an absurdly crisp chiptune sound, and topped it all off with a title theme that sounds borderline melancholic. Its a really good tune on its own, and one ripe for rearranging with the game's distinctly unique sound. And thats what Scooblee did here - Viva la Robocop rearranges said title theme to the melody of Coldplay's Viva la Vida.
Scooblee has been doing chiptune music both on and off of SiIva for a very long time and are really damn good at it, and that skill is reflected here. Its an excellent arrangement that captures the emotional power of both songs really well, and has held up tremendously despite being six years old at this point. Due to the aforementioned forgotten state of the game in question, this rip too has sort of been forgotten on the channel, in favor of bigger-name games like Mario 64 or Pokémon. Yet it sits right alongside them, with a dedicated group of chiptune fans keenly aware of Jonathan Dunn's musical talents. And being able to uncover forgotten gems like this one entirely on my own amidst a vast sea of rips, is a huge part of why I love SiIvaGunner.
