How to pray for unbelievers

Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. (Romans 10:1)

Paul prays that God would convert Israel. He prays for her salvation! He does not pray for ineffectual influences, but for effectual influences. And that is how we should pray too.

We should take the new covenant promises of God and plead with God to bring them to pass in our children and our neighbors and on all the mission fields of the world.

God, take out of their flesh the heart of stone and give them a new heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 11:19)

Circumcise their heart so that they love you! (Deuteronomy 30:6)

Father, put your Spirit within them and cause them to walk in your statutes. (Ezekiel 36:27)

Grant them repentance and a knowledge of the truth that they may escape from the snare of the devil. (2 Timothy 2:25–26)

Open their hearts so that they believe the gospel! (Acts 16:14)

When we believe in the sovereignty of God — in the right and power of God to elect and then bring hardened sinners to faith and salvation — then we will be able to pray with no inconsistency, and with the confidence of great biblical promises for the conversion of the lost.

Thus, God has pleasure in this kind of praying because it ascribes to him the right and honor to be the free and sovereign God that he is in election and salvation.

In other words, the Lord is evident in every created thing. Have you ever wondered how an old oak survives season after season? Have you marveled at the starry sky or watched a colony of ants work together? All such things point us to the Lord.

God made His presence evident in nature because He “wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:4). He has given us the capacity to be aware of Him through what He has made. However, the Father has also given every person the choice of whether to accept or reject a relationship with Him.

What will you do the next time you see evidence of the Lord in your world? Scripture promises we won’t regret knowing Jesus. After all, He wants us to “have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10)

Sun's vision

I've seen quite a few posts dunking on Sun for going after Blake and assuming she's on a quest of vengeance against the White Fang. But it makes total sense for him to assume so!

Remember, the side of Blake that Sun saw the most of during the Beacon Saga was the when she was totally dedicated to stopping the White Fang. Hell, one of the first things she did in his line of sight was jumping the gun and going after Torchwick. And afterwards, she put so much time and effort into figuring out the Evil Plot that it cut into her sleep.

Sun, unlike the rest of us, did not see the altercation with Adam, nor did he have any inclination that someone like Adam was in Blake's background (Beacon!Blake was not very open about her past). We, the viewers have had the perspective to figure out the full scope of Blake's issues, but Sun didn't get anything close to that until he and Blake start talking in earnest during Volume 5, and even then he's only given small outlines as it's clearly a hard topic for Blake, so he doesn't pry too much.

So, in short, don't mean to Sun. He's a bit of a goof, but if it wasn't for him, Blake wouldn't have been reunited with Team RWBY and Haven wouldn't have been saved.
