Hey Watcher fans, if you guys are looking for new content to listen to now that Watcher is disappearing into a paywall I reccomend checking out Red Web!
They're also an unsolved mystery podcast with 2 hilarious hosts Trevor and Fredo and they used to be part of Roosterteeth but now that RT is shutting down they're going indie and making their own channel to continue the show in the future. (We aren't sure if they're changing their name yet but for now it's still called Red Web) They have some topics that cross with Watcher and Buzzfeed Unsolved but they also dive into modern internet mysteries, mysterious historical artifacts, ARGs and even a few ghost hunts of their own and they're extremely passionate about it that they wanted to continue their show even after their parent company shut down.
I reccomend checking them out and supporting them as they branch out from their main company just like Watcher did with Buzzfeed many years ago. Who knows? Maybe we can help them become the new Watchers in the future?

“Rooster Teeth had a lot of issues as evidenced by the allegations past employees have come forward with” and “Warner Bros is fucking evil for axing an entire company and letting some of its employees find out via tweet” are statements that can and should coexist.
Like. It’s not some gotcha that RT is shutting down. It’s not some vindictive justice that this Big Bad Company is gone now. Projects are now canceled. People will be fired from their jobs. And because it’s Warner Bros. it’s only a matter of time before all those animation projects (RvB, RWBY, Camp Camp, every single episode of anything they made) is scrubbed off of the internet.
It’s gonna be the same thing that happened with HBO Max. It’s gonna be the same thing with the Coyote vs. Acme movie and Batgirl.
RT going down is not the thing you should be lording over people. RT going down should not be some ammo for your “RWBY is mid” takes. RT going down is not some “I always knew it was cringe” meme. Real people are gonna be effected by this. People will lose this jobs and will lose all the passion projects they worked on.
This is horrifying for the people involved in these projects and the state of animation itself. Warner Bros. only owned Rooster Teeth for 2 years. They bought them in 2022. Not even 2 full years. They didn’t even get a chance and they axed THE ENTIRE COMPANY. NOT JUST ONE SHOW. THE ENTIRE FUCKING COMPANY AND ALL ITS IPS. HOLY FUCKING SHIT. THIS IS NOT THR TIME FOR A FAN WAR.

I've uploaded the first 11 seasons of Red vs Blue (in the complete episode format, compiling all episodes of each season into season-wide features) to this drive so it can safely be watched for free at any time, since I worry that we will soon no longer easily have access to the show in light of recent events. I'm working towards finding and downloading seasons 12-15 as well
Edit: I've uploaded everything I wanted to!
Seasons 1-15 are all up on the drive now.
14 is in two parts, while 15 alone is in an episodic format. Feel free to reply to this post if you have any queries or questions

Okay. So.
On Twitter, Jason Weight, head writer of season 17, tweeted out that he was going to share his unmade scripts, as well as sharing a link to a Grimmons scene and the reveal that he intended for Grimmons to be canon, were he to have written season 18:
Tumblr media
Then, the Tumblr account @riproosterteeth shared a post with a Google Drive of Jason’s unused 17 scripts and concepts for 18:
This is not Jason, but I do have confirmation that he is okay with these scripts getting leaked.
The contents of the drive include two episodes of season 17 and many concepts and short scenes for his alternate take on 18, including things like a focus on Wash’s recovery, the return of Junior, Grif and Simmons being “unhappy to learn that they’re gay,” an action heavy Locus B-plot, and the intention to introduce a team of 4 new characters and a “well-liked public figure” to act as the protagonist and antagonist, respectively, for season 19. Along with many more concepts you should read for yourself!
EDIT: To be clear, these scripts were NOT cancelled because of RT being shut down.
I’m seeing a lot of people misunderstand this in the notes. These are Weight’s ALTERNATE PITCHES for seasons 17 and 18 that were not picked up by RT. None of this was ever intended to make it into the show proper. This is NOT what the future of RvB would have been if RT didn’t shut down, it’s a look into an alternate timeline where Jason was hired to write season 18 instead.
None of this is canon.
Thank you.

The difference between College Humor and Watcher is that CH has a huge cast of people with mutiple shows releasing episodes extremely regularly. Not only just a huge cast of people but people the audience like. Sure there's the highlights like Brennan and such but people aren't gonna skip an episode of Game Changer just because Brennan isn't there. Watcher has only a few shows and they don't even put things out weekly. And other than Ryan and Shane no one really remembers who the other casts are. Even Steven is like meh to a lot of people, and you can tell just by looking at the views on their shows not including Ryan and Shane, the views are much MUCH lower than stuff like Ghost Files and Puppet History. You can even compare it to Roosterteeth who also started on a separate paid channel. Even they had a huge cast and though it got worst over the years they still kept their main cast front and center and made free content on YouTube for years and premium content was a separate show that didnt affect the youtube scene for a long time until 2020 where it all went downhill. Watcher is literally dropping YouTube altogether and moving to a paid platform and not touching YouTube ever again.
So Watcher:
1) doesn't make content regularly enough to be worth the high cost of their subscription
2) has only a handful of casts that would even interest people to move
3) is dropping YouTube entirely even though their audience was born from people watching them solely on YouTube
Of course people are gonna to be mad. These are the people who saw their potential during their buzzfeed unsolved days and gave them the support to make their own company as Watcher. Without these YouTube fans Watcher would not be where it is today. Dropping YouTube entirely and put on such an expensive paywall is just the dumbest narsarcistic thing they could think of when the economy is literally crumbling and their audience is made out of younger people. Idk who in Watcher thought this was a good idea, but clearly they need to learn from the mistakes of Roosterteeth and just don't. Trying to chase after College Humour when they both started in different ways is like trying to put a square into a circle hole. It's never gonna work, and if they try to force it, just like Roosterteeth, it's just gonna break all the work they did to build their company after so many years in a record amount of time.

As someone who grew up on Rooster Teeth, who consumed so much of their content during my formative years, today's news hits a little harder. I'm so upset for the people who lost their jobs and livelihoods due to this huge downsizing on WB part (not to mention the fact most of them found out through a twitter post!) - it pains me to hear that some of their projects will never get a real conclusion or that the hard work they have been putting in for years might be forgotten.
I'm holding out hope that there will be some sort of archival process or maybe the RT website will remain live so that people can watch what is there (maybe no longer behind a paywall?).
That being said, RT was never a perfect company and to pretend that it was is doing a disservice to everyone who has been hurt by the decisions of their coworkers, the treatment of BIPOC by the audience, and toxic work environment that surrounded their productions. We should not use this time to discredit those experiences, but remain aware that these situations can coexist simultaneously.
For the cast/crew/production teams that have led these projects, I am hopeful that this will not be the last time we see them apart of content. I know most people are concerned about the state of RWBY, RVB, Gen: Lock, etc, and I do think these IP's will be picked up. If we're lucky, they will be along with the teams responsible for them in the first place. But I urge you to not use this time to talk about these shows, but instead send some comfort to those who are now out of a job.

Watched the RT livestream. Cried a lot.
The TLDR:
- All news and information regarding the RT closure will be posted on their website as and when decisions are made.
- RT will continue operations for the next 60 days. The time will be used to wind operations down appropriately.
- New Camp Camp and Red vs Blue will air as planned.
- The same RWBY discussions around partnerships to continue making the show have not ceased.
- Content that is currently available via official channels on YouTube is slated to stay there.
There was other stuff, I'm too brain dead to add anything else. Someone else feel free to expand.

RWBY fans are weird because they’ll be like “This show is so diverse! There’s a trans character”
But it turns out that the trans character is a background character and her being trans is never mentioned in the show. And the actress dealt with some horrible working conditions, and she was so underpaid that she couldn’t afford to eat, and her coworkers got hundreds of thousands of people to call her the f-slur.
Edit: it would appear that they do finally mention it in the show in the season after I stopped watching. There’s a nice video on YouTube with all 5 minutes of her screen time from season 8 that shows the scene
