the problem is schools in canada really fail to explain the ideology of nazism beyond "they were antisemitic and wanted more land". the only thing we were taught about the weimar years was that germany got a shit deal at the treaty of versailles and then their economy went bottom up, and honestly taught in a way that makes the rise of fascism seem like an understandable reaction to these events.
we weren't really told about the social atmosphere of weimar germany or any of the progressive stuff happening in berlin. not a peep about rosa luxemburg or the efforts german communists made to oppose the rise of nazism. and of course they can't teach that in canada, because we as a nation are committed to ideologically opposing communism. the red army's contribution to beating hitler (over 20 million lives lost) is more of a footnote than anything else. we can't teach our kids that hitler took inspiration from manifest destiny and the ethnic cleansing of native americans because then we would have to reckon with our own genocide.

Sorry what is prensa rosa?
“Pink press.” Spain has specialized magazines aimed at women. They cover the royals, local celebrities and socialites. The main ones are Hola!, Lecturas, Vanitatis, and Semana. They’ve been around for decades and they are extremely popular.
Hola! Branched out into the English-speaking market as Hello! And they are now popular in the UK and Canada. The other ones are still pretty local.
The Spanish socialites, like Genoveva, all have contacts with the “prensa rosa.” They know the photographers and journalists, and some of these journalists have been covering them since birth. Tamara Falco has had coverage her entire life and Genoveva started getting coverage in the 2000s when she married Martinez de Irujo. We’re talking massive coverage-tours of their homes, births, baptisms, weddings, romances, vacations in Ibiza. You name it, the prensa rosa has covered it.
So even an ex-wife of an aristocrat, such as Genoveva, can get Kate Middleton-style press in Spain. They often use that to become influencers or get sponsorships. It’s a pretty big industry. Of course, the downside of that is that your privacy is seriously compromised and your sleepover with Danish royalty gets front-page treatment.

So, because I guess I hate myself, I decided to go read some GVH reviews on 4chan after the game came out and so much of it is just CinemaSins tier shit like "Uh, why aren't there looting and riots and street orgies if the world's gonna end?" or "Uh, why do high school kids give a fuck about a concert if the world's gonna end?" and it really makes me wonder what they'd rather GVH do with its premise. Did they want it to be a fucking Metro 2033 game or something? But then I thought about it and a FPS or action game where you play as a dinosaur surviving their extinction event would be pretty cool, so I wanted to bring that up to you to see what you think.
Expecting media literacy from 4chan is like expecting the McDonald's ice cream machine to work. And "what kind of game did they want?" can be answered by Snoot Game existing.
I too used to frequent 4chan (it's part of my brony origin story), but those days are long behind me. Apparently though, the freaks in the Snoot Game threads talk about me because of my accidental title of "Goodbye Volcano High's Strongest Soldier" (as if I should be ashamed!). It's a toxic place where the worst ideas are amplified and thinking critically makes you a shill, or a [t-word slur].
I like to engage with thoughtful, well-meaning people who have good ideas that they can make discuss civilly while also being open to criticism and analysis. That's why I don't engage with the 4chan crowd. They made a game that involves taking a queer character made by a queer indie studio, creating a whole new story to justify a detransition plotline, filled the rest of the game with racist jokes and memes that had gone stale 15 years ago, and called it a "heartfelt masterpiece".
Also, they spent a whole lot of time lusting over Rosa until GVH finally dropped and they found out she's a trans woman, and now they're calling for a war on Canada. So any claim they or their shitty game aren't anti-queer is disingenuous.
But also, yes, a dinosaur FPS (or survival horror game) would be pretty sick. Except you're the dinosaur, trying desperately to survive the extinction event. There's plenty of ideas there to explore!

National Sock Day
National Sock Day was started by Pair of Thieves, an apparel company that sells socks, in order "to warm our toes with the commemoration of two toe-tapping historical events" that happened on today's date. First, the holiday commemorates the closing of the first revival of the Broadway musical On Your Toes, on December 4, 1954. A Lorenz Hart and Richard Rodgers production, On Your Toes first debuted in 1936 and was known for its incorporation of ballet. Following its 1950s revival, it was brought back again in the 1980s. The second "toe-tapping historical event" that the holiday commemorates is the final concert by the mother-daughter singing duo of Naomi and Wynonna Judd—the Judds—at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on November 4, 1991. Wynonna went on to a solo career, and the duo sometimes reunited, most notably for a tour in 2010, but the 1991 concert is still considered to be their final bow.
Ostensibly, the holiday commemorates these two events, but the day also has another noteworthy positive reason for taking place. For every hashtag of #nationalsockday that is posted on the day, Pair of Thieves donates a pair of socks—up to a million pairs in total—to someone in need. Not only does Pair of Thieves give away socks on National Sock Day, but they also give them away year-round as part of their Give-Back Program. With it, they donate three pairs of socks to those in need for every pack of socks that are purchased.
The name "sock" comes from the Old English word socc, which means "light slipper." This came from soccus, a Latin word for a "light, low-heeled shoe" that Roman comic actors wore. This word has a root as well, going back to the Greek word sykchos. Garments similar to socks have been around since ancient times and first consisted of animal skins that were tied around ankles. Inhabitants of ancient Greece wore socks made of matted animal hair, while those in ancient Rome covered their feet with leather or woven fabrics. In the second century CE, Romans began sewing fitted socks called undones. Another early sock-like garment was the puttee. During the Middle Ages, socks covered the lower part of the leg and were brightly colored. Garters kept them from falling down. By about 1000 CE, socks were a symbol of nobility.
Machine-knit socks were first made in the late sixteenth century after the knitting machine was invented in 1589. Socks could be knitted six times as fast with this new method. Still, hand-knit socks continued to be made until the nineteenth century, when almost all socks began being machine-knit. At this time, socks were commonly made of cotton, silk, or wool. With the introduction of nylon in 1938, different materials began being blended to make socks. Other materials often used today besides those previously mentioned include polyester, acrylic, olefins, and spandex.
Socks can be many different colors. People tend to wear white socks with tennis shoes and darker socks with dress shoes. Art is sometimes put on socks. One proponent of such socks was President George H.W. Bush. There are various lengths of socks, such as knee-high, crew, ankle, and low cut. Today we celebrate all kinds of socks, as well as "two toe-tapping historical events." We also use the hashtag #nationalsockday in order to help provide socks for those in need.
How to Observe National Sock Day
Here are a few ideas on how to celebrate National Sock Day:
Use the hashtag #nationalsockday. With every post that is made, Pair of Thieves will donate a pair of socks to someone in need.
Buy a new pair of socks. If you buy a pack of socks through Pair of Thieves' Give-Back Program, they will donate three pairs of socks to someone in need. You can participate in this program at any time during the year.
Since the holiday takes place to commemorate "two toe-tapping historical events," you could celebrate those events. You could watch the 1939 film version of On Your Toes, or you could watch the Judds farewell concert.

hiiiiii i can’t stop thinking e being a whole Lover and it made me so curious about their family history and their relationship with both parents. i just find their character so refreshing cause they grew up with just their dad but here they are still wanting a partner they can commit to and eventually get married to and UGH i’m so in loveeee
Oo, yes! E is such a hopeless romantic. Love letters? They’ll write them. Notes around the house for you to find? They’ll definitely do. Doing the absolute most for the holidays and their lover’s birthday? Yes, yes and yes!!
They’re such a delight <3 soo I’ll leave a bunch of E facts under the cut because E’s family is my fave!
E’s dad, Javier, is Colombian and their mum, Rosalie is Canadian. E was born in Toronto, but they moved around a bit because of Javier’s footballing career and then they all moved to London when E was 9.
Surprisingly, Javier and Rosalie ended up getting a divorce when E was around 14. I say surprisingly because they definitely could’ve stayed together and even now they’ll call the other the love of their life.
Despite the divorce, Javier and Rosalie were and will always be the best co-parents! They have healthy communication, always put E first, and actually don’t mind being around each other—to the point where you wouldn’t even notice that they’re divorced.
^ I think this is where E’s love for love stems from. They know their parents are good together, hopes one day they’ll end up back together, and thinks ‘I’d love to have my own relationship like theirs, just without the breaking up part’.
If you’re to ask E who their favourite parent is, they’d say they love them both equally. But Rosalie knows it’s Javier and deep, deep down Javier knows it’s him too.
E and Javier just have the most amazing relationship. They’re super close and they’ve always been like that, and Rosalie has just accepted that because she loves E’s relationship with their dad.
Javier dad jokes like, “E, you’re my favourite, talented child.” “…I’m your only child.”
E knows Spanish fluently, they know a bit of French.
^ Rosalie always jokes that when E and Javier speak in Spanish around her they’re talking about her.
Soo, Rosalie’s back living in Canada (mostly because she misses home but also because she’s a film director and she’s directing a film over there). E regularly visits her when they can too.
And every Friday E and Javier have dinner together, and they FaceTime Rosalie so the three of them eat together.
Rosalie also being the one to encourage Javier listen to E’s explicit ‘Wild Ace’ album like, “Jav, you always support E with their music” “I do, but just because I’m not going to listen to this album doesn’t mean I don’t support them”—after a couple of months Rosalie won’t let it go so Javier has no choice.
His opinion about the album is that the songs are catchy but…yeah, explicit and not parent friendly!!
I imagine an interviewer asking E “is your wild ace era over?” and E would laugh and say yes, along with “the album was basically a retelling of all the scandals the media likes to write about me, along with me telling a few people to, uh, kindly fuck off. so, yes, the wild ace era is over…mostly for the sake of my dad’s blood pressure.”
But when E’s confidence does falter and the media does get to their head and they start overthinking, then their parents are super sensitive and motivating and they have the right words to tell them.
Javier and Rosa know about E’s occasional one night stands and sometimes Rosa will say to E, “I was married twice by your age” and E would smile and say, “and you’ve now been divorced twice, this isn’t turning out to be a good love lesson from you, is it?”
^ But they also know how much E would love to have a real relationship, so when E’s actually in a relationship and their parents know—Rosa and Javier have so many questions like “are they treating you well?” “are you happy?” “I will be pissed if they even think about breaking your heart.”

JUNIOR CHALLENGER
Junebug (June Masters) Age: 17 Height: 5′5 ft Weight: 107lbs Home: Manhattan, NY, USA Record: ??? “A new challenger, hailing from the Big Apple, Junebug is a goofy, sometimes clumsy, fighter. Her ethics are heavily inspired by her trainer, who seemed to have a fighting past herself, and she is heavily determined to punch her way to the top!” MINOR CIRCUIT
3: Glacier North (Tala Williams) Age: 18 Height: 4′9 ft Weight: 113lbs Home: Iqualit, NV, Canada Record: 10-6 (7 KO’s) “A timid soul, but a fierce fighter. Glacier North is the youngest fighter in the CVBA. Though she doesn’t rank very high, many see her untapped potential. If only she wasn’t so meek.”
2: Luz Fiesta (Luna Ramirez) Age: 32 Height: 5′11 ft Weight: 192lbs Home: Bogota, Colombia Record: 12-13 (9 KO’s) “The life of the party, Luz Fiesta is here to put a smile on your face, dazzle you with her antics and knock out her opponents while dancing around in the ring. What fun!” 1: Mama Belle (Leah Belle) Age: 40 Height: 5′11 ft  Weight: 200lbs Home: Houston, TX, USA Record: 10 - 3 (4 KO’s) “Sweet as a button and coated with sugar, Mama Belle delights the ring with her sweet, southern hospitality and a punch that will make her opponents cookies crumble.” Champion: TJ Storm (Maria Teorokai) Age: 19 Height: 6′2 ft Weight: 203lbs Home: Rarotonga, Cook Islands Record: 17-10 (13 KO’s) “From across the sea comes a storm, TJ Storm. She’s mighty, she’s brutal and she’s determined to knock out her opponents, no matter what. Though far from home, TJ never forgets where she’s from and many assume the reason she fights so well is because of the family who she has close to her heart.” MAJOR CIRCUIT: 3: Louella Swansong (Alla Vinogradov) Age: 25 Height: 6′3 Weight: 166lbs Home: Saint Petersburg, Russia Record: 10-9 (5 KO’s) “A beautiful dancer, part time worker in a stage theatre, and a graceful disposition wherever she goes, Louella is a talented performer and even more talented boxer, and knows how to pack quite a punch when she isn’t fuzzing over getting her mitts dirty”
2: Sheriff Dusty (Winifred Parris) Age: 32 Height: 6′2 ft Weight: 189lbs Home: Frankfort, KY, USA Record: 20-7 (11 KO’s) “From the countryside of Kentucky, Dusty is a hardworking and fun individual. Inspired by one of the champion boxers in Branch A, she took the ring almost immediately, wanting to experience the thrill, failure, but mostly joy that being in the ring had to offer!” 1: Rosa Mariposa (Carmen Balmori) Age: 20 Height: 4′11 Weight: 122lbs Home: Madrid, Spain Record: 19-3 (2 KO’s) “The gorgeous gem of Madrid, and girlfriend of the Major Circuit Champ, Don Flamenco, Carmen, otherwise known by her pseudonym, Rosa Mariposa, is an elegant opponent. With a spring in her step and a flutter in her heart, she wows the crowd with her presentation and a few moved she learnt from her Amor”  Champ: Barbella Bambina (Bella Mancini) Age: 29 Height: 5′8 ft Weight: 230lbs Home: Milan, Italy Record: 23-4 (19 KO’s) “From Italy, and proud to be it, Barbella is a strongman in the same circus as Mad Clown! Though she has an intimidating appearance, she can be quite funny and goofy, though she is a bit daft with her jokes now and again. But when it comes to the ring? Ohoho, you better watch out, before she drops her bar on you!” WORLD CIRCUIT
4: Heat Wave (Sydney Robinson) Age: 30 Height: 6′0 ft Weight: 192lbs Home: Sydney, NSW, Australia Record: 25-2 (21 KO’s) “As fiery as her name suggests, Heat Wave brings a fistful of fire to her matches. She’s the hot personality that is sure to knock the socks off of folks both in and out of the ring. However, though fiery, she has been seen being very *chill* outside the ring, and especially around her best friend, Blaze Hinabi.” 3: Cajun Jewel (Edmee Boudreaux) Age: 68 Height: 5′8 ft Weight: 118lbs Home: New Orleans, LA, USA Record: 24-2 (20 KO’s) “Dubbed The Beauty of the Bayou and The Voodoo Queen, Cajun Jewel is one old lady you don’t wanna mess with, always carrying a new trick up her sleeves. A true pioneer of the Louisiana spirit, you best watch out when her eyes start to glow, it never ends up good for her opponents!” 2: Mane Event (Becky Smith) Age: 31 Height: 6′1 ft Weight: 202 lbs Home: Las Vegas, NV, USA Record: 19-2 (11 KO’s) “A masked felon, Mane Event is the true heel of the woman’s bracket. Hiding behind her mask of shame after trying to kill a soul singer in Vegas, she took to boxing as an outlet. She’s a vengeful and ruthless soul, uncontrollable but still no match for her own inner beast...maybe one day...” 1: Maple Rose (Rochelle Lavoie) Age: 30 Height: 4′9 ft Weight: 199lbs Home: Montreal, QB, Canada Record: 25-1 (22 KO’s)  “A gorgeous and graceful soul, Maple Rose is the true show stealer, with beautiful attire, personality and pretty much everything else, the only thing she could be missing is a bad hair day. Maple Rose may look dainty, but don’t let that fool you, this is one rose who isn’t afraid to hit you with her thorns.” World Champ: Blaze Hinabi (Emi Sato) Age: 21 Height: 6′1 ft Weight: 130lbs Home: Kyoto, Japan Record: 27 - 0 (27 KO’s) “Whether she be a crackling bonfire, or a calm, flickering flame, Blaze literally blazes through her opponents and lays waste to anyone who stands in her way. Proud to stand in the ring as the youngest Woman’s champion to date, she is a cool fire that will never, ever die.”

Tagging @cafe-melanion @mrlarkstin @defira85 @penquinlori and anyone else who wants to play because I legitimately can't remember people's names to tag them (and have a world of guilt for doing so). Please do not feel obligated!
