ya'll asked for geography, so u get geography!!! of space, lmao. let's start with the basics. but here's my version of the magical dimension!

details under cut! (also do clic on the picture to see stuff better tunglr ruined the quality as always)

note: the size of the planets is very indicative, and just to make the map more readable.

● THE SUNS ●

the magical dimension originally had five suns that then became four after the end of the fairy-witch wars (long story short: one exploded).

the main suns are the ones you can see in the center, called the dragon's head and the dragon's tail, the biggest and the second biggest (in that order), called this way after the great dragon. then there's the elf sun, the third biggest, whose name comes from the people of graynor. and then the smallest one, called the phoenix sun, after the shadow phoenix.

the fifth one used to be the second smallest one, called the leviathan sun. it used to be right in the center of oroz, fallat and rot (now the forbidden ring).

● THE RINGS ●

there are eight rings in the magical dimension, each one with their own unique planets with similar (but different) characteristics. think culturally about them as a continent! the forbidden ring is the only one thats unhabitated, as its conditions are unlivable and the absence of a sun makes it impossibile for life to return.

🡲 light ring

the light ring is "8" shaped and goes around the tail and head suns, and it intersects with the magix ring and the harmonic ring. the name is for obvious reasons: lots of suns and lots of light!

the planets in the light ring are:

solaria: known as the planet of stars, suns, moons, and celestial bodies in general. not pictured: the moons celeste and lumenia and a third, smaller sun in its orbit, called radius.

domino: the abandoned planet of the great dragon, of its fire. its population and royal family were wiped out not long ago by an unknown evil power, and its once beautiful deserts and cities are now icy wastelands. not pictured: its moon pyros, known for its dragon population, which migrated from domino during its fall.

koria: known for being the headquarters of the order of the paladins and its school, the malacoy academy. not pictured: its other two orbiting suns, ramiel and samael, and moons, uriel and zephon.

🡲 the nature ring

the nature ring orbits around the elf sun and intersects with the steel ring. the name comes from the nature based power of (most of) the people of the planets, and their incredibile, lush, and lively natural wonders.

the planets in the nature ring are:

lynphea: known for its tall trees on which its people live, its giant animals and insects, and the enormous forests. not pictured: its second sun helianthus and its moon ipomea.

andros: covered 90% by salt water, it's the planet where merpeople live, along with a human population spread over small islands and archipelagos. it's connected through a magical space waterfall to its orbiting nano-planet, au haru (not pictured here). not pictured: its moon seantis.

romulea: the planet of oasis, deserts, savannahs, and jungles. and extremely dangerous animals too. not pictured: its other two suns mawu and magec, and its moon oko.

altaduna: the planet of mountains and rivers, there are basically no plains and hills. not pictured: its moon zorya.

dolona: its people are known for living on floating islands above large, deep and unexplored canyons. not pictured: its moon devana.

graynor: where the race of the elves live and thrive, born of the ancient magical tree known as the rainbow oak.

🡲 the magix ring

the magix ring orbits around the tail sun and intersects with the light ring. it has only one planet, magix, from which it gets its name.

magix is the current modern cultural melting pot of the magical dimension, and the planet most similar to our planet earth in terms of size and sun cycles. it's famous for having been the ground on which some of the most important historical events of the magical dimension have happened, as well as being where the three most famous schools for fairies, witches, and knights are (alfea, cloudtower, and redfountain, respectively). it's also where the high council of the magical dimension meets to discuss interplanetary matters. not pictured: its moon sen.

🡲 the harmonic ring

the harmonic ring orbits around the head sun and intersects with the steel ring, the light ring and the white ring. the people of its planets have always been known for their devotion to the arts, culture and harmony of the soul, hence the name.

a rare magical and space occurrence called the harmonic nebula, an agglomerate of cosmic dust, is fixed on the orbit. when a planet passes through the harmonic nebula, its sky becomes a swirly light red and deep purple.

the planets in the harmonic ring are:

melody: the planet of the arts. here is where music, cinema, photography, architecture, painting, poetry, dancing and more grow, evolve, and are part of the planet's magic. because the majority of the industries on the planet dominate the market, melody has the most influx of immigrants, who are mostly artists from other planets who want to find their luck here. not pictured: its moon symphony.

oppositus: the magic of this planet bases itself on opposites and the balance between them.

espero: the home planet of most of the famous philosophers, writers, and greatest thinkers of the magical dimension. for many, it's seen as a place of spiritual retreat (and the locals don't really like that). not pictured: its moon ohm.

eros: planet of love and emotions, known for having the best therapy and psychology schools of the magical dimension.

🡲 the steel ring

the steel ring orbits around the head and tail suns with an oval shape, and it intersects with the harmonic and nature rings. the name comes from the abundance of underground materials of its planets, as well as their deep cavernous systems and the warrior reputation of their people.

the planets in the steel ring are:

eraklyon: planet of iron, carbon, zinc, and more. its people are known for being powerful and fierce warriors with a great military history. lately it has been caught up in stopping an independentist war carried out by its orbiting nano-planets of charùnda, berg and cleddyf (not pictured here), which eraklyon claims as "its colonies". not pictured: its moon rhod.

hoggar: planet of the great forges and legendary blacksmiths. not pictured: its moon hors.

thordal: their people live in underground cavern systems, filled with precious gems and metals. they claim to be direct descendants of the people of downland, a mystical and ancient population that lives underground in the planet of magix.

🡲 the white ring

the white ring orbits around the phoenix sun, and it intersects with the harmonic and the night ring. its name comes from the harsh, snowy winters and cold climate of its planets.

the planets of the white ring are:

zenith: the planet of technomagic, where more than 80% of the magical dimension's tech and innovation come from. an extremely economically powerful planet and kingdom, zenith is also where most of the capital is made. not pictured: its moons manna and gateway-0001. the second is an artificial creation.

callisto: the planet of storms, harsh winds, and thunder. its people live under domes of special glass that protect them from the constant bad weather. its orbiting nano-planet, serenia (not pictured), is known for constantly rotating between extreme climate conditions and seasons even in a day.

stalax: the planet of snow and icebergs. not pictured: its moons hjuki and bil.

dyamond: a once flourishing planet of crystals and gems, it was wiped out centuries ago in a manner similar to domino. nobody knows what really happened to it. zenith has been colonizing most of it for resources.

🡲 the night ring

the night ring orbits around the phoenix sun, and intersects only with the white ring. its name comes from the (not total) lack of light on its planets, as well as the reputation of the majority of its people - witches. only wysperia is currently being inhabited.

the planets of the night ring are:

wysperia: once an empty planet, a small handful of witches, tired of their reputation in the magical dimension, colonized the grounds and created their own kingdom, which grew and thrived. it only has been recently given a seat in the high council. it's where the wysperian crystals (magical ampoules used in witch rituals and spells) are made and kept. not pictured: its moons hecate, medea and circe. they move all in a row of three and are called the "triple goddesses" by wysperi.

prometia: a planet covered in hot springs and gysers. it's currently being contested by wysperia and zenith, the first wanting to create a new witch colony and the second wanting to harvest its resources.

🡲 the forbidden ring

the forbidden ring was once called another name and probably intersected with either the harmonic ring or the steel ring. its name has been lost to time, as well as the people that lived on its planets. its sun was destroyed during the fairy-witch wars by the one and only mad king of domino.

the planets of the forbidden ring are orez, rot and fallat.

● THE GALACTIC DEPHTS ●

there are many other planets and unexplored corners of space in the magical dimension. although exploration is currently ongoing, there are two planets beyond the borders of the magical dimension that are known.

🡲 omega

omega is a planet 200 light years away from the magic dimension, covered in ice and deep canyons in which natural tunnels have formed. it's currently being used (and has been for centuries) as a prison for the worst criminals of the magic dimension.

it's accessible either through a one-of-a-kind (now sealed) portal on andros or light-speed space travel, the latter being reserved only to authorities and authorized personnel.

some internal sources say budding communities have formed for survival among the prisoners, but it has never been been confirmed by any public authority.

🡲 obsidian

another prison planet, obsidian was created to keep a great evil sealed behind its portal, hoping for it to never return. it has mostly become a legend by now, although its existence is very real. all the people who touched its grounds never came back, making it impossible to know how it looks.

Okay so like.

Her name is Luma.

She's technically 'royal' blood in the rocker scene being a grandkid of some oldie band. (TBD later since I'm pulling this outta my ass lol(

She has her own band called Peaches. They're a heavy metal band. She's the guitarist and the vocalist.

Her ex is, weirdly enough, Kurt Hansen. (My obsession with him won't quit and he will be shipped with all the people okay.) She and Kurt met at one of his parties. They hit it off and dated for a few years in private, but it was difficult with how different their life styles were. (They still aren't over each other teehee) They broke it off mutually, but still talk quite a bit despite that.

Luma's currently staying in NC. She has a house on the hill in North Oak. It's not too far from Kerry's. Sometimes Kerry and her shoot the shit and chill out with a beer at her place.

She also kind of knows V, but thats mostly due to her being nosey about the edgerunners around NC. They're so fascinating to her!

Main tree: Jordrassil in the Jorcrater -> The Crater is where the first pandorian contact happened, Aideen met the centaurs -> She combined the 3 magics (Light, Earth, Pandorian) and fought Garnok. -> Jordrassil is the first tree, manifestation of Aideen’s life powers. -> Also the place where she dispersed, gave up her light and souls to the creatures of the island -> Master portal- planted many other trees on the island, so she can get around quicky in the war. -> Jordrassil has the strongest hints of Aideen’s light (other than MC) would be a top prize for G to corrupt

Life Wardens: Primeival trees -> Fast travel system, their roots for portals after saying the right incantation. -> From Jordrassil you can fast travel to ANY (living, friendly) tree -> From other trees only to the next in the network -> Guarding and strengthening any magic: Aideen’s or Garnok’s if corrupted. -> They can be awakened and speak, have different personalities.

1. Harvestlands: -> Sleeping Widow: Forgotten Fields. Helped Lisa, 1st one we meet. Wants to reconnect with the other Trees. Protective of the little one also growing in the Forgotten fields. -> Golden Lady: Scarecrow Hill. Grows Golden Apples, which are pure Aideen/Light power. Neighbors and best friends with the Widow. -> Ancient Sentinel: Wildwoods. Protected by the Wild Horse tribes. There is a pandorian rift underwater in the lake, through which Pandorian magic seeps through, infects the area. We close it when Garnok fully corrupts Pandoria and manage to prevent the Sentinel from being corrupted. -> Singing Yew: South Hoof. Helped Justin. Slumbering in the fields, the winds blowing through the branches make a song. -> Silent Poplar: Firgrove Mountain. Very mysterious. Turns out a hundred years ago he was corrupted and almost lost to the darkness, but they used the cleansing ritual to save him. -> Hidden Willow: Fort Maria. Hiding underground in a cave, guarding the library. The first place we go when we unlock the Tree Portal fast travel system. Guards the knowledge about the Life Wardens.

2. Winterdale -> Fire Glory: Ashland. Red pine, likes the warmth there, very lively, constantly talks about how much she likes the warm and finds the fires and the volcano beautiful. -> Glacier Heart: Dino Valley. Sister to the Ashland one, likes the cold. Constantly annoyed by Fire Glory’s neverending chitchat about Ashland, which she can hear. -> Astral Crown: Starshine mountain. Next to the Secret Stone Circle, protects it, she is why the DRs can’t come close to the circle. -> Silver Runebark: Rimefang woods. Silver leafs, revered by the Kallters, likes them, his bark covered in glowing azure runes. -> Wise Leaf : Anvil woods. Helped the druids protect the forest from DC, gives them advice. Talks in verses, metaphors and tales.

3. Springvalley -> Royal Cedar: Blossom woods. Majestic and reliable, he has been guarding the Blossom woods and Springvalley from the storm in Winterdale. -> Everbloom Elm: Everspring plateau. Covered in various flowers, she’s very proud of them. Gives you some random herbs every day if you go say hi to her. The tree is so full of herself, she’s basically giving you an autograph, don’t worry about it. -> Sun Queen: Suncrown lake. Cleansed from corruption by MC and SRs. Protects the Von Blyssen manor and vineyard. -> Twilight Oak: Morrinweald. The source of the valas’ power. Was corrupted by dark powers, later cleansed by MC and SRs.

4. Summerplains -> Restored Guardian: The Great Clearing. Was cut down long ago. We grow it back, like the one in Forgotten Fields. -> Elder Witchwood: Old Morass. She liked to watch the rituals the witches did in the swamp. Quickly becomes best friends with Pi and Mrs Holdsworth. -> Shadow Chestnut: Claymore mountains, hidden. He was tasked with keeping an eye on the Claymores- they have been serving evil for a long time. -> Aspen King: Lone Star canyon. Yellow-golden leaves, huge tree. Likes the Lone Star Cowboys, who bring gifts (anything from horseshoes to elk skulls).

Prologue: The Tale of Introduction

The golden rays of the sun descents, illuminating its warmth down upon the colonial terrain. Throughout the land lies a leafy paradise. Although, the natural coloration of the woods seem to differ from the norm. It's filled to the brimmed with Jacarta-colored oak trees. All the while the vast, opulence of foliage that is looming above would share a hue similarly to the galactic universe. Such unnatural colors would bring upon complete amazement!

You couldn't help but approach within the woods. Your movement would emit the sound of 'crackling' from beneath your feet. Peering down, you would take notice of a large patch of gravel. Wait... Upon further inspection, the designed of the gravel would wield more of a star shape. Looking on ahead, it would appear to be leading somewhere from within this bizarrely unique forest. Feeling a wave of inquisitiveness and wonders of where this path may lead, you couldn't help but venture forth. Consumed by curiosity of where this may lead.

As time went by and your travel nears, you suddenly halted from your path as something from the distance caught your eye. Seemingly what would appear to be an immense structure of the sort. You've decided to approach closely, to better examine of what is ahead. After reaching to your destination, you would be immediately welcomed by a faint draft of an early, floral aroma. Alongside the endearing scent, there was also a cease of silence. All of quietness had been diminished by the merry, sing-song chirps coming from a group of cosmic-like Swablus! They appear to happily whistle together up on the branches of the trees. Alas, despite the welcoming from nature, this is what had primarily attracted your attention. No... Instead it is the structure that was mentioned. You've reached upon the intended destination of the structure. But instead, your front was introduced by a risen scabrous, silver gate. Along the connecting gates would come upon an enormous wall, that stretches throughout the entirety of both the eastern and western section of your view. The wall itself would seem to be made up of dark-starry granite. Completely standing out from the rest of the forest! Although, the wall seems to have seen better days. Base upon your frontal perspective, there would appear to be an incredible amount of unsymmetrical cracks, claw marks, traces of scorched markings, and even pockets of holes varying in differing sizes. Even the lower parts of the wall would attain scatters of unattended overgrowth! Such as royal blue vines and moon-shaped Gracidea blooming all across the place.

Nevertheless, this doesn't deter you. Instead, you would enter through the gates. Wishing to see all this land has to offer! You've survey the sight of the surrounding area. Firstly, you take notice of a prosperous, large nation! Buildings and homes severely vary in materials and height. And yet, the establishments seem to share a common theme. All of which would remind one of space. Farther ahead, there would be a central area that holds a fountain! It would have a Meloetta-shaped statue in the middle. The posture stood elegantly, in a more of an arabesques style. The water spray straight from the mouth to downwards into the fountain. The light splashes into the water would remind one of the sounds of rain, pitter pattering onto the ground. Although, upon closer inspection, the liquid in question seems to hold eerily similar appearance to an item known as Stardust. Surely it is consumable... Right?

Shaking off the discomforting thought, your eyes would wonder as you travel around the kingdom. It hadn't taken long until you've spotted an enormous hill. There were many homes scattered onto the hill! But, what rests upon the very top, was a incredibly massive palace! From what you see, you could determine that the royal palace shares a similar design to the wall. And yet, it appears to be made of a more differing material. Base on the size of the building itself, you could only make a determined guess that it contains an absurded amount of rooms! Throughout all sides of the building would appear to be crystal-like windows, holding a sort of planetary pattern. Each one showing an image of different planets, be it Saturn or even Uranus! And lastly, the entryway of the palace would have an enlarged garden. Just like from what you've seen from the outer walls, this area too have moon-shaped Gracideas blooming beautifully from all around.

Many of the residents would walk by. Some minding their own business, while others welcome each other with positive communication! Each and every one seem so kind with one another! You have begun to have taken notice that the paths of this kingdom is bustling with activity! It was utterly astonishing! Before you could be able to make your way to scurry and explore all there is to offer, you've quickly shift your attention towards a stentorian voice.

"Mom, please!". The voice cried out. Upon viewing who is speaking loudly, it would appear to be a Eevee of the sort. Albeit rather... Different. Her colors appear to be a mixture of blues and white, while the patterns of her body wield more of a constellation. Her posture seem to hold of a mix signal. Her head held high, showing a form of dominating stance. And yet, her expression is distorted to form a look of distress.

"No, no! This isn't what I've asked for!" Cried the Eevee. She would raise up her paw, only to immediately slam it back down to the ground. "I've wanted to see the world OUTSIDE of Valinthea! To see other kingdoms! Not meet and greet OUTSIDERS! Those are two completely different things, mom!".

Opposite from the Eevee was another Pokemon that is twice her size. This one body seems more complexed in design. The galactic patterns hold more of a purplish-pink hue, while scattered throughout her body adorn crystals of varying sizes. She seems to be a hybrid, but couldn't quite pin-point of what mixture of Pokemon this creature could be.

This Pokemon demeanor would be more of a somber, calming appearance. Her expression would retain a more at ease look. "Sondoria, my dearest. Please, lower your tone" She said with peace and elegance waving through the tone of her voice. "Must I remind you that I cannot allow you, along with your siblings, to venture outside of Valinthea. It's far too dangerous, sweety. I know that you are fully aware that my children's safety will always take priority."

To Make light of the matter, the larger hybrid would slowly move her paw towards Sondoria. At least, until it finally met its destination by resting said paw on top of the little Eevee's head. Giving the Eevee a light ruffle, as the hybrid shine the brightest of smiles to her.

"Think of this as an opportunity~! You'll be able to communicate with various species, learning about their homeland and way of life! You may even be able to create a friend amongst these outsiders!". The last sentence, her words seems to be chiming with sheer delight. It is as if her tone shows a way of hoping that her daughter could create a potential friend. "Ah, how I'd love to see my shining star form such endearing bonds~!"

Unfortunately, the hybrid's message seems to have delivered an opposite effect. As soon after those words were spoken, Sondoria eyes would quickly advert away from her mother's gaze. She would even brush the paw away from her head. "But... I already have a friend. Xanthe. She's the only Pokemon I care about to have as a friend. Did you... Forgot about her?"

Silence...

The hybrid would open her mouth. And yet, only deathly quiet air could escape. The mother would look like a Magikarp out of water, gasping for air. She knows what words to speak and yet, she struggles to speak them out. She wasn't certain of what would be the proper set of words to respond to her daughter.

Before the situation could continue to linger any further through its awkwardness, someone else had decided to butt in and intrude into the conversation.

"You numbnuts! This made up "Xanthe" friend of yours doesn't count." The newcomer said in a very nonchalant tone. "You've never even met her. Sending letters all around to some rando doesn't mean anything. Heck, for all we know, this "Xanthe" person is probably some lousy Snorlax luring you for your crown. Or maybe some loser playing a sort of lengthy, lame prank on you.".

The smaller hybrid would smack her lips as she says her tail to the side. "Xanthe doesn't exist. Xanthe isn't real. Learn to finally open your eyes and quit stupidly trusting those you've never even seen. Yeesh, I've seen Slowpokes smarter than this. Then again, I am not surprised coming from the likes of you."

"N-Nuria!" The mother spoke in shock, as she was rather taken aback by Nuria's direct words toward Sondoria.

However, Nuria could only shrug her shoulders. "What? I was only speaking what we're all thinking. Mom, I refuse to keep sugarcoating just to protect Sondoria little wah-wah feelings. It is as light as day: Some scum is messing with her and she is too blind to see that she has no REAL friends. Not my fault that my older sister couldn't handle the truth."

"Shut... Up..." Sondoria murmur. Expressing a rather aggressive emotion. If her eyes were a weapon, it would be shooting a massive amount of daggers directing towards Nuria's head.

Despite being told to quiet down, Nuria would only speak with a sharp snap. "Hmf, no 'big sister', I will not shut up. What? Did you really think I was going to continue to parade around your delusions? Give you a pat on the back for falling for a 'friend' that never even existed? What do you want? A gem encrusted cookie to satisfy your stupidity? Psssh, of course that would be something that you want. Sondoria, you--"

Before another word could ever be uttered out of Nuria's mouth, it would be briefly interrupted by Sondoria tackling the young hybrid onto the ground. "SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP! YOU SHUT YOUR TRUBBISH MOUTH NOW! I AM SICK OF YOU ALWAYS BAD MOUTHING!"

"--Ugh!!" Nuria would slap her paws against the top of Sondora's head, doing her bestest to shove the Eevee off. She would only growl and snap her jaws at the older sister. "GET OFF OF ME, YOU FREAK!"

It soon turned into a full blown fight, as the two began to tussled one another. During their physicality, the mother would try her darnest to separate the two as immediate as possible. Doing whatever she could to pull the two away with minimal damage.

Unfortunately, the crystalline hybrid seems to be struggling from ending this, as the two sisters refuse to back down from throwing punches and pulling each other's furs.

"Nuria! Sondoria! Please stop this!" The queen pleaded. All the whole using both her paws to try to push the two away from one another. Sadly, with little success. "You don't have to fight! Please! There are other ways we could--!!".

And then, there was a sudden surprise from a familiar voice beaming from behind.

"Mama! Mama!" The smaller Eevee screamed in sheer delight, as he glomped his mother from behind. Of course, proceeding to smoosh and bury his face against her oh so fluffy tails. Of course, being careful not to accidentally press his face against her crystals. "I saw papa show Susu how to kick butt! He went all boom-bam and wah-POW on the dummies! I wanna go pow pow on the dummies too!"

The more taller and slender Zoroark hybrid, who was trailing behind the young boy, had chuckled at his enthusiasm.

However, that laughter was quickly washed away and turned into a grimming concern once he had taken notice of the situation at hand. Seeing both daughters fighting against one another, while seeing his dearest wife in distress.

Immediately the Zoroark hybrid would take action. Swiftly sprinting into the two princesse before he would grabbed each of them by the scruff of their necks. Soon after, he would take them apart from each other before setting them down. Although set in opposing directions, to keep them away from one another.

The man would stay in-between the two, ensuring that they wouldn't try to up and go round two on each other. The two daughters had cease their attacks, due to the hybrid blocking their paths. At best, they would just growl at one another's direction. Which is well... Relieving. Well, to an extent. At least they are no longer trying to harm each other. The Zoroark hybrid does remain his stance, as he is trying to remain alert and making sure that he continues to be the wall to stop the problem from further escalating.

"Hmf, pathetic looking Feebas."

Nuria scoffs. "Says the grotesque Garbador."

A draconic-canine comes running in. Seemingly out of breath. "Huff, huff... Boy, you guys are fast! Didn't have me time to, huff, catch my breath!".

Immediately his words was brought to a pause, as he noticed the stance and tension of the family. Well... Minus the little prince, who is at eternal bliss with rolling his body all around his mother's tail. "Uh... Should I... Ask what is happening?--".

However, seeing the sign of the king quickly shaking his head in disapproval, this blue canine would only zip his mouth shut.

Not wanting to poke the Beartic to cause potentially further issues, he would let his pale-golden orbs gaze around to a different direction. At least, in hopes of changing to a topic that could cause the situation to, well... Lighten itself.

It was then his gaze met with yours. Finally, your presence has taken notice! Gee, did that took a while.

"O-Oh!" The draconic-canine hybrid made his way towards you. "You must be a new traveler to Valinthea! Welcome! Welcome! I hope that you are enjoying your stay so far!"

"Erm...". He awkwardly gestures towards the family across. "T-They are the royal family who rules this part of the land!.. Please don't mind on what you've saw, as it was just a little, erm, 'hiccup'. Yeah, haha. Ah...!! Trust me when I say that they are the most wonderful, most kindest of Pokemon that you will ever meet! Give them a chance and I am sure that you will not be disappointed~!"

Now that you are in the same presence as the royal family, what will you say or do?

Following Rhaenyra’s birth, many wondered if her uncle Prince Daemon would fall behind her in the line of succession, as she was the only child of Viserys, the heir to the throne.

Queen Aemma Arryn proposed a betrothal between Prince Daemon – dubbed Maegor, Second of His Name – and her daughter Rhaenyra in order to settle the succession issue. However, both her husband, King Viserys and the Hand, Ser Otto Hightower, protested the match.

The question of selecting a suitable consort for Rhaenyra had been of concern to King Viserys and his council. Great lords and dashing knights fluttered around her like moths around a flame, vying for her favor. Sons of Lord Bracken and Lord Blackwood fought a duel over her, and a younger son of House Frey made so bold as to ask openly for her hand. In the west, Ser Jason Lannister and his twin, Ser Tyland, vied for her. The sons of Lord Tully of Riverrun, Lord Tyrell of Highgarden, Lord Oakheart of Old Oak, and Lord Tarly of Horn Hill paid court to the princess, as did Ser Lyonel’s son, Ser Harwin Strong. Viserys even talked of wedding Rhaenyra to the Prince of Dorne, as a way of bringing the Dornish into the realm.

The best choice, king and small council finally agreed, would be Rhaenyra’s cousin, Laenor Velaryon. Though the Great Council of 101 had ruled against his claim, the Velaryon boy remained a grandson of Prince Aemon Targaryen of hallowed memory, and a great-grandson of the Old King himself, with dragon blood on both sides of his lineage. Such a match would unite and strengthen the royal bloodline and regain the Iron Throne, the friendship of the Sea Snake with his powerful fleet.

King and council had neglected to consult the princess, however, and Rhaenyra proved to be very much her father’s daughter. After having been made privy to Viserys’s plans through surreptitious eavesdropping using the Red Keep’s secret passages, she pleaded with her uncle – who had once again been banished from court – to take her away.

Ah, suburbia!

As a native Detroiter - Detroit Detroit, as opposed to one of the suburbs - I had good time with a story that ran last week in the Metro Times, an alternative weekly newspaper.

The headline: "What your Detroit suburb says about you"

Some of the assessments are a little harsh and are, no doubt, meant to get a rise out of the good citizens of suburbia.

The Metro Times staff tried to deflect criticism in its intro to the story: "Hey, don’t come at us for this, we’re just telling you what everyone else is already thinking ..."

A sample ...

Ferndale: "You’re probably a part of the LGBTQ+ community or at least an ally, you like to drink coffee, and you complain all the time that Ferndale used to be better before it started getting more like Royal Oak.

Royal Oak: "You’re a sorta-cool progressive white person who may have lived in the city when you were younger, but then got married and had kids and moved out to a house that is too expensive for how mid it looks."

Dearborn: "Statistically speaking, you are probably Arab and you definitely know where the best shawarma and hookah bars are."

Birmingham: "You’re from new money and when you and your spouse aren’t working your intense jobs, you’re on Tinder looking for a third."

Allen Park: "You are Downriver, with all that that entails, which means you are either a blue-collar worker or a savvy drug entrepreneur."

Farmington Hills: "Honestly, a white guy rapping about being the king of 'Farmington, Farmington Hills' while wearing Crocs pretty much sums up your entire vibe."

Roseville (Sharon's hometown): "You’re white trash and proud."

In the Company of Dragons | Daemon Targaryen x OC | Chapter 2

Synopsis: Continuation of the previous chapter - After word spread about Daemon Targaryen's supposed tryst with his niece, the man was seen visiting the Crimson Lady. His exile, and the actions which prompted such a punishment, gave rise to emotions that neither of them truly knew how to process.

Warnings: angst, mentions of !ncest (i mean, it comes with the territory), spoilers for hotd ep 4

Author's note: that last episode really sent me into a spiral. I wrote this second chapter really as a means to reorganize my thoughts on how the show is going. This might turn into a 4-part story (the last 2 parts might come later this month or the next, depending on what we learn from each new episode). This chapter is also a shorter one, because again, it's really me trying to recover from what I watched.

Daemon Targaryen was nothing if not impulsive and shameless. News of his little night-time excursion with his niece, the heiress to the throne, spread faster than the King’s men could smother it out of the mouths of peasants; and the sight of Caraxes, presumably ferrying Daemon to his exile, landing on the shore of the nameless lake at the foot of Rhaenys’s Hill only stirred rumors anew. For everyone in King’s Landing knew that a certain foreign diplomat dwelt on the lake’s sole islet, in a castle styled in the ways of her faraway people.

Some spoke of strange magic being performed on the grounds of her castle, of a large, feathery beast that was no dragon yet could set the sky on fire with a flap of its wings. Some spoke of her raven-dark hair and otherworldly golden eyes, how it was almost a direct contrast of the Targaryen’s hereditary features. What they could not see, they supplemented with distrust and tall tales. And for them to see the infamous Rogue Prince enter that castle on the islet but not what he and the lady might have done — King Viserys would never hear the end of it.

As it were, the princess was engrossed in calligraphy — or so she made it seem, when her uninvited guest barged into her private chambers. Her guards — loyal troops dispatched by her King Father to protect her and keep an eye on her in equal measures — rushed after him.

“He… He said you were expecting him, your Grace,” one of the guards, Li Huang, stammered.

“I was not,” said Meilin, not lifting her gaze off the scroll on her low writing table.

“Our apologies, your Grace,” said Li Huang, alarmed. The guards grabbed ahold of each of Daemon’s arms, jerking him towards the door. But the Prince refused to budge or say a single word. It would have gone to blows, had she not intervened.

“Leave us,” her tone left no room for argument. Daemon shook off the guards’ hands with a triumphant smirk, as they bowed to their mistress and quietly made their exit.

She did not bother to ask what he was doing here, her face an unreadable, stony mask. The well-practiced flick of her wrist betrayed no sign of anger, nor irritation, nor joy.

“So cold, my Princess,” he broke the silence, one hand on Dark Sister on his belt. He was back in his under-armor, having changed out of his vomit-stained outfit from the previous night. The dark rings under his eyes gave away his rather eventful morning, though. “I have simply come to say goodbye.”

He’d seen her only yesterday, at the banquet Viserys had thrown in his honor. She’d worn a formal dress of pearly silk and an assortment of exquisite jewelry, red ribbons braided into her long hair that fell to the small of her back. She and Rhaenyra had been like dots of color in a sea of grey, when they had sat together under the rustling leaves of an old oak tree in the royal pavilion. He’d almost forgotten about their friendship; both were firstborn daughters to kings, had been haunted by their mothers’ arduous pregnancies, had had to carve out their own place among men. Daemon half-suspected that Meilin understood Rhaenyra in ways that even he could not begin to fathom.

“Are you jealous?” He questioned, taking a step towards where she sat writing. Judging from how Mysaria had reacted to his behavior, it was not entirely outside of the realm of imagination.

She did not respond. So, he took another step. “Or are you angry with me, like my brother? The old fool practically had a knife to my throat.”

Nothing, still. He was now just arm’s length from her, having knelt down to see what sort of writing could have been more interesting to her than his presence. Although he could not understand the foreign script, he spied a tremor in her hand that was not there before.

“It’s not true, what they say,” he started, itching to reach out and make her look at him.

Why should I believe you? She wanted to say. In fact, she wanted to shout it at his face. A mixture of emotions swelled up in her chest, and she knew that if she spoke, the tears would come. But to show him just how much it had affected her would only give him the twisted satisfaction he so desperately sought from ruining his brother, his niece, or anyone who’d had the misfortune of crossing his path — from ruining her.

She figured she only had herself to blame for this, recalling the times he’d gone to her in the dead of the night — when she’d patched up whatever wound the field medic had missed on him, all the while listening to him think out loud. The memories soothed her internal turmoil somewhat, just enough for her to face him now.

“Doesn’t matter if it’s true, and you know that.”

Her words brought a sad smile to Daemon’s face. Whatever satisfaction he would have had from provoking her could not make up for the fact that he’d burnt the last of his bridges with what he’d done. The last of the bridges that mattered, anyway. “I know,” he sighed. The fatigue finally caught up to him — a tiredness that he could feel deep in his soul.

“Under any other circumstance, I’d ask if you might wish to join me,” he continued, reaching into his pocket for a small, rectangular box which he then placed upon her table. When she remained silent, only inspecting his gift with the same stony expression, he straightened up and retraced his steps back to the door.

“Goodbye, Daemon.”

From the slight tilt of his head, she gathered that he’d heard. Later, only after he’d gone far beyond the horizon, did she permit herself to cry. And through her tears, she unwrapped the box — revealing a comb of pure gold, adorned with rubies that fell from one end like droplets of fire.

The calmness of the wind reverberated across the burial ground as Beverly Steele motioned to her mother’s grave in Oak Hill Cemetery. Three months ago, they buried her here, just 12 days shy of her 102nd birthday.

It’s not uncommon for residents in the majority-Black, unincorporated community of Royal, Florida, to live past 100 years old. The Rev. Matthew Beard, the oldest resident in the community’s history, lived to be 115.

On a recent February afternoon, Steele, dressed in her Sunday best, peered out at the acres and acres of land surrounding Oak Hill Cemetery, also known as the Royal Cemetery. As she reminisced about her mother, she also remembered her aunt, who was called on as the community’s local historian. She could recall who had the first brick house, the first postmaster, and the three founding families—Hollies, Picketts, and Andersons—of the community.

The sounds of large trucks chugging down the narrow road near the cemetery snap Steele back to today’s reality. Mere miles away from the site is Interstate 75, which split the community of Royal in half 50 years ago. A few miles from there is the old Monarch Road cemetery, or old slave cemetery as the locals call it. It, too, is split in half by a paved road. A family lives on the primary site where most of the headstones can be seen. It is the cemetery where Steele’s great-great-great-grandfather — and one of the community’s co-founders — is buried.

Tucked away, 55 miles north of Orlando, Royal’s estimated 1,200 Black residents still live on the inherited 40-acre plots from the Homestead Act of 1862. The close-knit community is located in the city of Wildwood, which in the past two decades has grown in population to 150,000. The 77-year-old Steele and other Royal residents say the rapid growth of The Villages, a retirement community that borders Wildwood, is part of the constant development efforts upending their lives.

Recent plans for highways, affordable housing units, and industrial use projects are disrupting their peace and comfort. In some cases, residents have been pressured to sell their land. Several community members raised concerns to Capital B that these attacks are attempts to erase its history and gentrify its neighborhoods. They also fear the increased traffic and industrial pollution from the projects will cause detrimental health effects in its community, primarily elders.

This isn’t the first time Royal citizens have come up against efforts to build in their community.

Residents and Sumter County commissioners rejected a plan in 1988 to construct a turnpike through Royal. In 2019, state lawmakers approved a bill to create the Northern Florida Extension, or turnpike project, to build three roads across rural central Florida, including Royal. a royal masquerade, a grandiose occasion for the ton as identities are covered behind well decorated masks, no social status can hinder them from socializing with each other- whether they’d be a royal or a baron's descent.

You could never mistake him for another man, he is too ethereal to be compared to another, to be mistaken for another. His golden locks shines like the sun under the light of the brightly lit candles that littered and placed precisely around the ballroom that made them look similar to stars, a deep rich blue mask comparable to the abyss of a night sky covering half of his face and made his eyes gleam identical to golden stones with an outfit to match with his mask, gilded collar and cuffs with tear drop-like diamond jewels.

He looks akin to a prince, blessed by the sun, favored by the moonless night.

And he is, in-fact, one.

And how are you, a mere baron's descent, could ever crave for the affection of a royal that is much deserving of a higher titled consort like a Marquise- even better a Duke, to stand by his side and rule. He has a title to insure, a reputation to keep, and a throne to fight, what can a baron do who has a small land and an inconspicuous name.

What can you do beside disguising as a commoner on your own land who fell in love with the very man you see right now, but he was a traveler.

He was not a prince in a royal palace but a free man who travels the world and tell you many tales of his discoveries, the things he learned, and the things he loves.

"I'd like to take you to go see the sights some time, if you'd let me."

It was an offer, a promise, that now you don’t think is possible.

“I’d let you.”

The musicians begin to play a merry tune, it echoes in the ballroom as many unwed nobles crowded the dance floor and placed themselves in formation, a bow in greeting, then they danced. Synchronized steps along with the tune, bodies mingle with each other in a familiar dance, even as you switch partners and made small talks, you could not keep yourself from glancing at him.

“Is there something on my face?” you remember him say when you couldn’t help but stare at him, too captivated by his beauty under your favorite oak tree on top of a hill where you could see the whole village, your rendezvous.

You twirl, in cue of the music, to change partners once more. Your hand on top of another and an arm on their shoulder instinctively, your eyes look up to see the face of your new dance partner only to see the sunset orbs that you adore.

Your breath hitched.

Aether.

“The moon is quite radiant tonight, isn’t it?” he asked, and you remember.

“It is, but I prefer the daytime when I could see the sun” you said, and he remembers, he recognize. A silly conversation from the past when you both compared yourselves to the moon and sun, the others as stars.

“But aren’t the stars more prettier than that ball of fire?” your back is now against his as he said those words near your ear, a subtle smirk made it’s way to your face, knowing damn well that the two of your are recreating a former conversation.

You separate yourself from him so you could face him again, he took your hand and gently pull you towards his body.

“How could you say that when you haven’t seen it clearly?” confidence surge through your body despite the raging beats of your heart from the close distance, “it’s too bright for you to see it clearly my lady”.

You leaned in a bit and say “I see him clearly.”

You glance at his lips, then back to his eyes.

“And he’s beautiful.”

“You’re beautiful Aether” was your reply when he asked you after he caught you staring, under your favorite oak tree on top of a hill where you could see the whole village, your rendezvous, as commoner and traveler. Your masks in your own masquerade.
