Any of you ever read "The Book Thief"? Because this was my honest reaction when I read it a few years back:

Me: This book is amazing and heart wretcheding and beautiful and all the characters are amazing! Especially Rudy! I love Rudy so much please please he's my favorite, my baby, my little boy, I adore him-

Everyone always cites the same characters as the reason their standards are so high but no one ever cites Rudy Steiner and therefore everyone else is wrong

I have never cried reading a book. I cried reading The Book Thief yesterday.

the weirdest part is, I didn’t cry for the people she lost or the life she could’ve lived. I cried for the people she got to love and the life she could live in the midst of that darkness. I cried for the selfless love only a father like Hans Hubermann could give, for Rosa’a tough but silent love, for the simplicity of Rudy’s companionship, for Max’s pure heart. I think that it is also my favourite part.

I could never find the words to explain how beautiful The Book Thief is, so I’ll say just that. It’s beautiful.
