I was passing through a neighboring town and seeing the lush, green rolling hills and the blushing blueberry fields and the pale green lichens and fern after fern and while my first thought was my god, what a place to live!, my second thought was how many other animals on this earth look around at their habitat and think the very same, and how sweet that is. my old dog used to sit halfway down our hill and close her eyes. she was listening to the wind pass through, the stream go by, the seasons come in and go out without a sound. I’ll bet the birds and the crickets and the caterpillars do the very same.

I actually don't think "rednecks are inbred" is a funny joke bc like, yeah, much of my community is. it's due to serious abuse and violence against women and girls, and I don't think poor rural women being abused is funny. there's a lot of disabilities in my community due to it, and, being a rural dead industry town, we don't have the money or infrastructure to support the people impacted. everyone looks alike- people can tell I'm not from here because I don't have stick straight blonde hair and light eyes, the gene pool is that small.

like yeah, that stereotype is true here but imo it's not funny, having to live around women being abused by family being a normal thing, and then seeing disabled people mocked for being a result of abuse while having no access to services. seriously, fuck any city slicker that thinks this is funny.
