Fun Fact
Kazakhstan’s Minister of Communications and Informatics has blocked the Tumblr site because it contained 60 sites of terrorism, extremism, and pornography in 2015.
I do not believe Russel Crowe did a bad performance as Javert.
I think all the vitriol for him came from a combination of word-of-mouth bandwagon toxic broadway fans that were way too gatekeepy about Les Mis to begin with, and Javert was inadvertently the character to hate anyway.
I think Russel Crowe did a fine job and I was still genuinely brought in to the character because of NOT ONLY his portrayal, but his “no nonsense, eye always on the target” range to his singing. Which is, not a lot. Javert is no nonsense, and Russel Crowe’s singing really helps capture this.
Each actor brought a range of voice to their character that fit their role. Each one of them did.
I think Eddie Redmayne did only JUST as good as Crowe did in his performance. And with that said, I liked both.
Tonight on the Dutch tv, the program RTL4 Boulevard broadcasted an interview with Lotte Verbeek about her career in LA and roles she played and her latest success landing a role in the movie that's recently filming in Hungary.
She plays the wife of Russel Crowe's character (Goering) and next to Rami Malek amongst many other known names.
This article was posted in January on Deadline:
'The interview is in Dutch, Lotte tells, she always happy with everything, she knows the many times you don't get a role you audition for, it's also a having a bit of luck, and I was lucky this time. I did auditioned for the role in Nuremberg in October, just on my phone at home. Initially I didn't hear anything back, but 2 months later on the director wanted to talk to me and 2 weeks later on I landed the role. I play the wife of Russel Crowe's character, and that's fantastic, it's not just a huge name but an actor I admire much. Together with Rami Malek who's also playing a leading role. So when I talked with the director, I thought for a minute, why would you need me?
She doesn't believe her name is much known in the Netherlands, and that's okay. I went abroad straight after my study and build my career there, but who knows this might change. [Well, Lotte, your Dutch OL fans do very well know who you are! 😉]
She likes to be in the Netherlands though, down to earth, in LA convo's are mostly about when is your next audition, with who do you work, it's always work. But I think there's more to life.
The pannel talks about her career and how she works hard to get into a role, amongst her success OL is named and how she learned a Scottish accent for that role. Expectations are high for her. Filming has already started, Lotte will start filming in April.
Thanks to @kaatje62 for recording or the item 🧡
Very good career move! I think we need to change the text in the below gif to Lotte, Lotte, Lotte!
