just as beautiful || s.o.b.
pairing: sirius black x reader 791 words, fluff, literally one use of Y/N, you meet sirius for the first time since 31st october, 1981. a/n: sooo self indulgent because i think about this scenario so much djhfjskfh (not proofread) (please have mercy my inspiration only seem to come out when im hunched over my laptop in my bed at night)
You've never felt your heart pound like this before. It was the kind that rings in your ears and you feel like you were going to pass out any second.
And it was all because you know what will happen when you step inside.
It's not that you didn't prepare yourself for what's to come, at least that's what you thought. Somehow every bit of reassurance you've told yourself has been thrown out of the window the second you found yourself standing at the door of Grimmauld Place.
You stand at the door for what feels like forever. But you know you can't stand there forever. You take a deep breath and turn the knob and push the door open. You walk through the corridor into what seems like the living room.
And there he is. Sitting at a table, with Remus.
Just as beautiful as the day you lost him.
Remus looks up, noticing the new person in the room. Sirius does the same, and his eyes lock with yours. The room goes still.
"Y/N," he mutters, voice raw, as if he hasn't said your name out loud in years.
"Sirius," you whisper. You realise it's the same for you.
You feel your breaths getting heavier and tears prick your eyes. You cover your mouth when you feel the first sob erupt. You hear a chair screech and quick footsteps get louder, followed by the feeling of his arms engulfing you. Never did you think you'd feel this again, feel him again.
Sirius is crying now too. He presses your head to his chest and buries his face into your hair, taking in your familiar scent. The both of you think this feeling could last forever if you wanted it to.
You look up at him, head still on his chest. "You're really here," you whimper, staring up at him.
He squeezes you, his warm voice responds "I am."
He pulls you away, hands still gripping your shoulders. "Let me take a look at you."
You let him, and you take the opportunity to study him as well. He still has the same face, but now older. Despite all the changes of age, you notice his eyes still remain the same.
He brings his hand to your face and brushes the tears away from your cheeks. The feeling of his thumb caressing your aged face makes you laugh.
You sigh as you bring your hand to hold his. "I've gone old now."
"Old? No, love. You're still so beautiful. You know he means it, and you feel your heart flutter.
He leans his head forward so his forehead is touching yours. "I've missed you, darling," he whispers.
"I've missed you more," you reply, bringing your hand up to show him the ring on your finger, the same one he proposed to you with twelve years ago.
Sirius' grey eyes are fixed on the ring, his mouth falling slightly open as recognition dawns on him.
"You kept it," he says quietly.
A warm smile breaks his face, he raises a hand to hold the ring finger on your left hand.
"After all this time?" He murmurs.
"I never gave up on you."
You really didn't. Throughout the heartache of losing him, deep inside you knew he would come back to you.
He cups your face and kisses your nose. "Oh love," he whispers. "I never deserved you."
Leaning in, he pulls you in for a kiss, and you feel your knees buckle the same way they used to over a decade ago.
Sirius catches you, chuckling into the kiss. He pulls away slightly, faces still close. Gazing down at you, those eyes filled with love, he whispers, "I love you."
Your smile trembles as you try to not cry again. "I love you too," you whisper back.
The both of you hear someone clearing their throat, and like that, your little bubble burst. You turn to see Remus standing at the side, and you realise you're still in the living room.
"Sorry to interrupt this very lovely moment but..." Remus says, raising his eyebrows at us, "We have business to attend to."
You sigh, pulling away from Sirius, who clears his throat as well. "Of course," you kiss his cheek before fully letting go. Merlin, you can't wait to touch him again. "Hi, Re," you greet Remus with a hug.
Remus returns the hug. "Hello, dear. Good to know you're doing splendid. Shall we?" he gestures to the kitchen, where the meeting will be. You watch as he and Sirius walk through the door.
You can't help but smile. For a moment, you feel everything is at ease at last. Somehow, you feel it will turn out alright in the end.

WILLIAM HOLDEN
April 17, 1918

William Holden was born as William Franklin Beedle Jr. in O’Fallon, Illinois.  His family moved to South Pasadena when he was three. After graduating from South Pasadena High School, Holden attended Pasadena Junior College, where he became involved in local radio plays.

He made his screen debut in an uncredited role in Paramount’s Prison Farm (1938).
Tumblr media
In 1949, he appeared with Lucille Ball in the film Miss Grant Takes Richmond.  "The Screen Guild Theater" broadcast a 60 minute radio adaptation of the movie on February 22, 1951 with William Holden reprising his film role.
Tumblr media
His first scripted television show was playing himself on “I Love Lucy” in their very first California episode “Hollywood at Last!” aka  “L.A. at Last!” (ILL S4;E16) filmed on December 2, 1954 and first aired on February 7, 1955. Holden had the privilege of appearing in not one, but two iconic Lucy stunts:

Getting a pie in the face at the Brown Derby;

And watching Lucy light her putty nose on fire.

Holden is the first and only actor on “I Love Lucy” to have won a competitive acting Oscar at the time of his appearance on the show.  It was for Stalag 17 (1953). He was first nominated in 1950 for Sunset Boulevard, and was nominated again in 1976 for Network.
“Take any picture you can. One out of four will be good, one out of ten will be very good, and one out of 15 will get you an Academy Award.” ~ William Holden
Tumblr media
In return for his appearance in this episode, Holden got to promote his most recent film, The Country Girl (1954) with Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly. The movie was first seen in Los Angeles just nine days after this episode was filmed.
Tumblr media
LUCY: (on the phone) “Would you like me to give a message to any of the gang out there?  Oh, all right. (writing) Tell Bill Holden that Marion Van Vlack saw ‘Sabrina’ five times!
Before she even left New York, Lucy was talking about Bill Holden. His film Sabrina was released a month prior to this episode being filmed on October 21, 1954. In 1955 it was nominated for six Oscars, winning for costumes.
Tumblr media
As the first actor Ball encountered (aside from Eve Arden) in Hollywood, Holden was often mentioned in future series dialogue.
Tumblr media
When “Lucy Meets Charles Boyer” (ILL S5;E19) in Paris, Ricky warns the star about Lucy’s messy encounter with Bill Holden at the Brown Derby. Boyer decides it is better to be Maurice DuBois than himself!
Tumblr media
Holden’s wife, Brenda Marshall, appeared in “The Fashion Show” (ILL S4;E20), although she is only referred to as “Mrs. William Holden.” The couple were married from 1941 to 1971.
After “Hollywood at Last!”, Lucille Ball and William Holden were seen together only twice more. The first time was in isolated cameos on “The Dean Martin Christmas Show” in 1968.  The second was a celebration of the work of director George Marshall on “The Merv Griffin Show” in July 1971.
Tumblr media
His final screen appearance was in Blake Edwards’ S.O.B. (1981) starring Julie Andrews.
He died on November 12, 1981 at age 63.
Tumblr media
In an episode of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” (2018), Midge takes her friend Imogene to New York’s Stage Deli where she expects to see famous people like Bill Holden, but is disappointed. The scene takes place in Fall 1959.
