Today is SA Awareness Month's Day of Action! This is the 23rd anniversary of this awareness month, which aims to call attention to the widespread impact which SA, abuse, and violence have on every community.
Here at Twin Passions: A Bildad Zine, we began this collaborative fan project last September in preparation for this month! (Because sometimes the only way to deal with the uncontrollable is to fundraise about it.)
We're almost ready for our charity fundraising period to open on April 18 through May 7 (you know how the Almighty likes 7s.)
Our fundraising goal is $666 (USD). All funds raised will be split evenly after fees to benefit RAINN (US) and Safeline (UK).
We will utilize a Pay What You Can structure. Can't donate anything? That's "what you can", so go on: have a download. We would appreciate any sharing of our posts here and on twt and insta, as there may be someone in your life (everyone) who needs more Bildad Crowley in theirs!
When the time comes, you'll find 2 editions available: Shoemaking for safe for work only, and Obstetrics for ns//fw 18 and up only.
As for today, we want to get you excited for the fundraising period! So have a sneak peek at our Creators. Each has a brand new fanart, fanfic, or comic in Twin Passions devoted to everyone's favorite midwife/cobbler!
And one more bit about SAAM Day of Action today: "Wear teal to raise awareness for SV-SA prevention efforts by wearing teal. Chances are someone in your life is a survivor of this type of harassment, assault, or abuse, even if they have never shared their story with you."
this month of april is important for a lot of things, one of those being to spread awareness for sa (sexual assualt).
why is it important? you ask.
because there were 67,938 rapes were recorded by the police between october 2022 and september 2023.
because 1 in 4 women have been raped or SA'd
because 1 in 6 children have been SA'd
because 1 in 18 men have been raped o SA'd.
because 9 in 10 young women in school are victims to sexist name calling or unsolicited pictures
because since the age of 16, there have been a total of 6.5 million cases of rape and SA against women in England and Wales.
if we stay silent, we ignore & hurt the victims who are too afriad to speak up. which is why the pumpkin blog will be dedicating this month to SA awareness as well.
things that will be included
➳ what is SA & why is it important.
➳ it's not your fault - dealing with the victim guilt.
Content warnings: discussion of sexual abuse, grooming and rape. Stay safe.
Small pieces of my own excruciatingly long experience, and a small message to any other victims and survivors.
This is incredibly difficult to talk about, and I've barely scratched the surface of what I've endured. There are things I've never talked nor written about, and things I may never be able to, but, I feel I have to try.
If I don't tell my story, the story of countless others who have faced what I have faced, then who will?
I wish everyone a safe sexual assault awareness month. I hope that everyone who chooses to come out, everyone who has in the past, is heard, believed, and receives justice due. I hope that you know that you are braver, stronger than you could possibly imagine. I hope you know that I love you.
Did y'all know it's SA awareness month? Cause I sure didn't! Hope all you fellow SA survivors are okay!
Take this drawing of baby bluey suffering!!! Ik this ain't my usual bugsnax content but I'd looked it up and it's April, SA awareness month. And ik that other people are suffering with the side effects of being SAed and the scars that were left, with the trauma they we're left with. But I'm proud of all you, of everything you've managed to get past and achieve. Your past doesn't define you and never will, you're more than the scars of the past. Look into the future and see yourself achieving even if it's difficult. Never give up. Someone will always be there for you, even at your lowest and scariest point. Even if you least expect it <3 I hope you have an amazing day.
I feel like this needs to be said now more than ever
I don’t care what gender you are, how old you are, what gender they are, how old they are, rape is rape, SA is SA, if someone touches you, makes you uncomfortable, or is just a creep, SPEAK UP ABOUT IT, LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!
To any victims out there that read this, I hope you are ok, I hope you speak up about your situation, if you’re currently experiencing this abuse or any abuse in general tell the police or a trusted friend/family member, I hope everyone heals from their trauma, and I’m proud of you for surviving, you are so strong for that <3 :)
I wanted to come out, and remind you that you can reach out and speak up that you can get the help you need, and to share my story.
I was 7 years old. He was 70.
My life has forever been changed, and at the time, I didn't know what was happening, but he told me he would k*ll me if a said a word to anyone. So I never spoke up. If I had said something if I had said something, if I had spoke out, that would have saved the other girls who suffered like I did. If I had spoke up, I could have made sure he got what he deserved, But I didnt and to this day, I love with regrets and trauma that has changed my life.
But I survived and I am a survivor. If you have gone through anything similar, speak up, save yourself and those around you. There are so many people who are driven to do dire things due to the feeling of hopelessness that SA gives them. Don't be another statistic, don't be another number. There's so many people who care about you, speak up and get the help you need.
You deserve to live a long, healthy and happy life, no matter the situation you're put through. You deserve to survive and thrive. I know that getting through it is so very hard, but there is a light at the end of a very long and dark tunnel. I promise💕
There's people you can talk to, such as the police or the national sexual assault hotline(1-800-656-HOPE)
💕you are loved, you are wanted, and most importantly, you are not alone, no matter how suffocating you might feel💕
I just sick of terfs who think that their transphobia can help sa/csa victims. How the fuck your hate towards trans child who probably have abusive family can help me to defeat my rapist?? Shut the fuck up please. Don't show yourself in our space.
