MusiCogne 2023

Ancora una volta Cogne scommette sull’incontro tra musica e natura con la settima edizione di MusiCogne che andrà in scena dal 18 luglio. La rassegna non rinuncerà alla sua missione di proporre grande musica in grandi contesti, tra cui quelli del Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso, con la partecipazione di nomi d'eccezione. Rispetto alle passate edizioni qualcosa cambia, con un concerto al giorno anziché più appuntamenti a poche ore di distanza l'uno dall'altro per facilitare la partecipazione del pubblico a tutti gli eventi e sedi dei concerti. Quest'anno MusiCogne viaggia in parallelo con GuitarCogne, il seminario immersivo di chitarra acustica organizzato con la Sfom - Scuola di formazione e orientamento musicale per il secondo anno. Si comincierà martedì 18 luglio alle 21 con Alessandro D'Alessandro, per la prima volta in Valle d'Aosta, uno dei migliori organettisti diatonici del panorama nazionale e probabilmente internazionale, che sarà in piazza Chanoux per proporre la sua musica al pubblico di Cogne. Il giorno successivo la rassegna tornerà in una delle sedi storiche, la Maison Gérard Dayné, con Lautarea e Sergio Pugnalin: liuti e musiche balcanico-slave, bulgare, arabe, turche e sefardite. Per il terzo concerto ci sarà il giovane Samuele Provenzi che il 20 luglio alle 18, presso il giardino della biblioteca,  presenterà il suo repertorio di musica classica tra Ottocento e Novecento. Gli ultimi tre concerti si terranno tutti in piazza Chanoux dove il 20 luglio, alle 21, ci sarà uno spettacolo dedicato ai brani che hanno saputo fare la storia e il  giornalista Andrea Scanzi, appassionato di musica, proporrà una narrazione arricchita da aneddoti e cenni storici sulle canzoni icone della musica mondiale, con ad accompagnarlo la violinista e compositrice statunitense Scarlet Rivera, Alex Gariazzo ed Andrea Parodi (chitarre e voci) e Paolo Ercoli (mandolino, dobro e pedal steel). Venerdì , sempre alle 21, il direttore artistico Carlo Pestelli e Federico Bagnasco proporranno il loro disco Oiseaux de Passages con i brani del maestro della canzone francese tradotti in italiano e in dialetto torinese, ma non solo, da Fausto Amodei, del collettivo torinese Cantacronache. Per sabato 22 luglio sarà la volta delle note tra lo swing e il gipsy jazz dell'eclettico chitarrista Nunzio Barbieri e del clarinettista Francesco Django Barbieri, padre e figlio accomunati dalla passione per la grande musica finemente arrangiata. andrew - cone shell snail - you would assume that picking up a cone shell snail would be like picking up any other shell on the beach. however this is a bad idea because the cone shell snail unlike its name suggests can sting you ungodly fast with a very quick acting venom. good luck with that.

bora - male platypus - isn’t it cool that male platypi have venomous claws on their hind legs? i bet you knew that already though because information spreads faster in the internet than seventeen years ago when i was the coolest guy in the second grade for knowing cool animal facts.

rob — king cobra - unlike other snakes, the king cobra was crowned king during the time of its birth which doubled as its coronation day. it’s the day when a regular venomous snake gets its hood. oh also? some cobras can spit far ahead and just like rob will probably be tall dark and handsome.

zubine - blue ringed octopus - many octopodes don’t even have blue rings. nor are they poisonous. but here comes zubine and his beautiful rings. i guess somebody liked him enough because they put a ring on him or several. also he is the size of a golf ball.

Team Placement + Travel Mapping

Team VCTA: Introduced in Volume 1.They had a rocky start in the beginning of the school-year, mainly due to Aias refusal to accept Viola’s assignment as  Team Leader in his stead.As the months went by, it became increasingly more obvious Aias was holding his team back and, during VCTA’s first mission, he is forced to acknowledge his leader after Viola’s leadership saved the team from a possibly deadly situation.

Volume 4: After the fall of Beacon, VCTA ops to not seek further training in the other Hutnsment Academies and become an official Hunting Party by the name of “Queen Victoria”, recruiting Fenris Arguros from LASL and traveling the kingdom. 

Months later, a particular mission causes them to clash with a Sky Pirate crew, resulting in Queen Victoria stealing one of their ships and setting to Atlas to return stolen weaponry the Pirates had in that ship. 

There, they are warned by General Ironwood that the people behind Beacon’s fall might attack Haven next, and they should stay at Atlas Academy. Refusing the offer, Queen Victoria sets sail to Mistral, to warn both Mistral’s council and and Viola’s adoptive father, of the danger.

Team LASL: Introduced in Volume 1. Sister team to VCTA, but unlike their other half, LASL never did take off as a team.As Mundo would painfully learn down the line, Professor Ozpin had chosen Donna as LASL’s leader(Team SFOM, at the time), but Donna herself had convinced the Headmaster to pick him prior the ceremony.

Being childhood friends, Mundo and Donna worked well together, but Mundo was never able to get Fenris or Lilly’s to listen to him. The Breaching before their first mission came almost as a blessing, as teams that had yet to leave  were ordered to stay and protect the city, saving Mundo from more failure.

Volume 4: With no Academy to hold them together, Team LASL disbands. Lilly returns to Atlas, Fenris joins VCTA, and while Donna and Mundo stay together, Mundo’s feelings of failure and regret cause him to leave on his own, as to spare Donna of the burden.

Team ELFN: Introduced in Volume 2. A 4th Year Team, they befriend VCTA and LASL after watching one of their sparring sessions. ELFN is a very promising and well-regarded team among the Academy’s Staff and Students, and are a strong contender to win the tournament at the end of the year.

Their leader, Edward, tries to be a mentor to the new trainees and takes a special interest in Mundo’s predicament. Sadly for the pair, missions and training keep Edward from preventing LASL ultimate demise.

Volume 4: As the last graduating class Beacon Academy would have, possibly forever, a lot of responsibility fell upon that year’s Senior students. That was specially true to ELFN, as they were the biggest asset that class had to offer.

ELFN had barelly any time to breath after the Academy’s destruction before they were buried in missions, putting their Team Leader under massive pressure and stress.

Team OSRS: Introduced in Volume 2. One of the several exchange-student teams to travel to Vale for the Vytal Festival. Right off the ship, they had problems that quickly escalated. OSRS arrival was an untimely meeting between the Luna twins, and a great source of grief for the pair’s teams. And family.

As luck would have it, OSRS and VCTA were pit against each other during the tournament, serving as an opportunity for the twins to vent their feelings towards each other. Their fight did not heal all their wounds, but served as a first step.

Volume 4:  Lucca was reluctant to return to Vacuo and leave his brother behind with all that chaos, but with the intervention of their father, he was persuaded to resume his training at Shade Academy. Yet, Lucca and his Team still felt unease, fearing Shade Academy might be next on the terrorists’ list.

Team RBCT and Team HBNR: Introduced in Volume 4. Ramon was a close friend to Team VCTA, knowing Fernando most of their childhood and meeting the other members through that friendship. After Beacon’s Fall he managed to convince Queen Victoria to let him travel with them, as his dreams of entering Beacon were dashed with the Academy’s destruction. Helena, Aias’ little sister,  simply sneaked into the Queen’s ship when they left for Atlas, not giving them a chance to turn her down.

Volume 4:As Queen Victorial Traveled from Vale to Atlas, then Mistral, they picked up more wayward kids in their various stops, ending up with enough members to form two teams by the time they got to Haven. Thus, RBCT and HBNR were formed.

At the Academy, Queen Victoria planned to entrust the two groups to Professor Lionheart whom could provide them with proper training, instead of the limited second-hand knowledge the members of their team had. Sadly, they arrive only to find the academy empty...

Team RPTD: Introduced in Volume 4. Your run-of-the-mill Sky Pirate Crew, they travel all of Remnant, terrorizing kingdoms and villages along the way. Led by “Jolly Roger”, the group unknowingly aided in the fall of Beacon, working with Roman Torchwick to intercept and acquire Atlasian weaponry as it traveled to Vale for the festival. Deciding to bail once finding out what they helped accomplish, the group quickly left the kingdom, making a few stops along the way...

Volume 4: After Vale’s fiasco, the Riptide Crew flees to one of their hideouts north to Vale. There, they raid a nearby village for supplies, which Queen Victoria happens to visit while searching for missions. The rookie Huntsmen succeed in taking back the stolen crops and Dust, and transport the loot to its rightful owners in a spare air-ship the pirates had in their hideout.

What Queen Victoria would later find out, is that that specific ship stored Atlasian weaponry Riptide had saved from the attack, and already sold to very powerful people. Not wanting to lose the deal, The Riptide Crew started a manhunt on Queen Victoria, following them all the way to Mistral.

Maneki Neko: Japan’s Beckoning Cat

On my way to Paris this morning, running to catch my flight at San Francisco International Airport, once again, was stopped in my tracks by the installation and curated exhibition on display at the airport's Terminal Two (frankly, when my driver announced we'd arrived at our terminal, and that it was Terminal Two, I was excited by the prospect of what I might see).

On past occasions, I've been met at Terminal Two with exhibitions of work by my friend, Marvin Lipofsky, whose work with color and blown glass shapes took the medium and its expression to fantastical heights (technical accomplishment, concept). On other occasions, and at other terminals, I've been fortunate to find a grouping of iconoclastic San Francisco paintings by the San Francisco trifecta of Robert Bechtle, Wayne Thiebaud, and James Torlakson (are they grouped together because they’re paintings by men from San Francisco, or is it because of a common theme, the American fascination with roads and road travel, maybe?).

Oh, but there is diversity in the SFO Museum's Public Art collection, as represented by Jay de Feo's blisteringly dark painting, "Masquerade in Black, 1974" and Deborah Butterfield's homage to the equine, with "Põhina, 2001" made of bronze castings of found objects, Hung Liu's richly narrative paintings, "Take Off, 2006 2006," and Yayoi Kusama's "High Heels for Going to Heaven, 2014", signature work, among others.

So, this morning's discovery of the Maneki Neko exhibition was affirmative of what I've come to expect from the San Francisco Airport Museum's installations. Fine things.

The story of the maneki neko, or beckoning cat figurines, is thought to date back to the late Edo period (1615-1868), when artisans in Japan began to make these figures in honor of its auspicious nature (for centuries, the cat had been valued for its ability to kill rodents) from ceramic and plaster, although some were also made in copper, bronze, wood, stone, and iron.

Today, maneki neko are found in Japanese (and sometimes, Chinese) businesses, near the entrance or in a window, where they silently beckon potential customers to enter. The figures classically show a cat with a raised left paw, an effort to bring luck and good fortune to a business; the right paw invites good fortune, health, and happiness into the home. Colors are also important: white represents happiness and satisfaction, black symbolizes safety and helps to drive away evil, while gold maneki neko symbolizes money and fortune. A distinctive feature of maneki neko is the bib attached to the neck. Bibs are frequently painted with traditional symbols of good luck and fortune, such as coins. Maneki neko, while made in the form of a cat, and look similar, on close inspection, show variations in color, size, facial features, and bib decoration.

And while this exhibition is housed in a busy international airport at the juxtaposition of the United States and Asia, it is, like any museum exhibition, properly curated, lit, and accompanied by generous displays of wall text to explain to the wanderer what was before us. In fact, in 1999, the SFO Museum (SFOM) became the first museum in an airport to receive accreditation from the American Alliance of Museums and is a widely imitated model for museums operating in public arenas.

Today, SFOM features more than twenty galleries throughout the Airport terminals displaying a rotating schedule of art, history, science, and cultural exhibitions, including the San Francisco Airport Commission Aviation Library and Louis A. Turpen Aviation Museum, which houses a permanent collection dedicated to preserving the history of commercial aviation. The maneki neko exhibition was made possible by SFOM's relationships with the Mingei International Museum, who provided the generous loan to make it possible. Much of the exhibition is beyond the security gates ("post security"), and out of reach of San Francisco residents who have no reason to suffer through TSA, and that's a shame, but for those of us in possession of a boarding pass and access to SFO terminals, we are indeed very fortunate to be able to enjoy a world class collection of contemporary fine art available in every terminal. As a resident of the San Francisco Bay Area, and a frequent traveler through the terminals of the San Francisco International Airport, I am grateful for the excellent curatorial thought and development of these exhibitions, and to the relationships and trust we receive from the international community that allow this to happen.

Từ ngày 19 đến 21/10, Hội nghị Bộ trưởng Tài chính APEC và các hội nghị liên quan sẽ diễn ra tại Hội An (Quảng Nam). Khoảng 300 đại biểu trong nước và quốc tế sẽ tham dự sự kiện này. Ngoài các Bộ trưởng, lãnh đạo tài chính và ngân hàng trung ương 21 nước thành viên, các hội nghị còn có đại diện những tổ chức như Quỹ Tiền tệ Quốc tế (IMF), Ngân hàng Thế giới (WB), Ngân hàng Phát triển châu Á (ADB) hay Tổ chức Hợp tác và Phát triển Kinh tế (OECD).

Nội dung chính của các cuộc thảo luận là tình hình kinh tế - tài chính vĩ mô toàn cầu và khu vực, cũng như kết quả quá trình hợp tác tài chính về 4 chủ đề ưu tiên trong năm. Bên cạnh đó, các Bộ trưởng cũng sẽ có phiên đối thoại với Hội đồng Tư vấn Doanh nghiệp APEC (ABAC) và lãnh đạo cao cấp một số doanh nghiệp, tập đoàn lớn trong khu vực.

4 chủ đề ưu tiên hợp tác năm 2017 đã được đề ra từ Hội nghị các Thứ trưởng và Phó thống đốc Ngân hàng Trung ương hồi tháng 2. Một là tìm biện pháp huy động vốn dài hạn của khu vực tư nhân cho các dự án cơ sở hạ tầng. Hai là chống xói mòn cơ sở thuế và chuyển dịch lợi nhuận. Ba là các giải pháp tài chính và bảo hiểm ứng phó với rủi ro thiên tai và bù đắp thiệt hại khi xảy ra thiên tai. Cuối cùng là hướng phát triển thị trường tín dụng và các sản phẩm tài chính cho nông nghiệp, nông thôn, nhằm giảm nghèo.

Từ đầu năm, quan chức tài chính APEC đã có nhiều cuộc họp chuẩn bị cho Hội nghị Cấp cao APEC vào tháng 11. Đó là Hội nghị Thứ trưởng Tài chính và Phó thống đốc Ngân hàng Trung ương (FCBDM) tháng 2 tại Nha Trang và Hội nghị Quan chức Tài chính Cao cấp (SFOM) tháng 5 tại Ninh Bình.

Năm APEC 2017 gồm 200 hoạt động lớn, nhỏ được tổ chức tại 10 tỉnh, thành của Việt Nam. Trong đó, quan trọng nhất là Tuần lễ Cấp cao lần thứ 25 diễn ra vào tháng 11 tại Đà Nẵng với sự tham gia của hơn 20 lãnh đạo các nền kinh tế thành viên APEC và phu nhân, phu quân; 42 Bộ trưởng ngoại giao, kinh tế, các trưởng đoàn đại diện cho các Tổ chức quốc tế và khoảng 10.000 đại biểu (doanh nghiệp, phóng viên….).

Trong khuôn khổ Tiến trình Bộ trưởng Tài chính APEC 2017, Hội nghị Quan chức Tài chính Cao cấp APEC (SFOM) chính thức khai mạc tại Ninh Bình ngày 18/5.

Tại phiên khai mạc, ông Vũ Nhữ Thăng – Chủ tịch SFOM, Vụ trưởng Vụ Hợp tác quốc tế, Bộ Tài chính đã chào mừng đại diện của 21 nền kinh tế thành viên APEC và các tổ chức quốc tế như Ngân hàng Thế giới (WB), Tổ chức Hợp tác và Phát triển kinh tế (OECD), Ngân hàng Phát triển châu Á (ADB), IMF (Quỹ Tiền tệ quốc tế)… đã quan tâm tham dự sự kiện SFOM do Bộ Tài chính chủ trì tổ chức.

Ông Vũ Nhữ Thăng đã chia sẻ về kết quả hội nghị Thứ trưởng Tài chính và Phó thống đốc NHTW APEC đã diễn ra vào tháng 2 tại Nha Trang, Khánh Hòa. Chủ tịch SFOM cho biết, các Thứ trưởng và Phó thống đốc cũng đã thông qua kế hoạch hoạt động cho 4 chủ đề ưu tiên trong năm 2017, bao gồm: Đầu tư dài hạn cho cơ sở hạ tầng; Tài chính và Bảo hiểm Rủi ro thiên tai; Xói mòn cơ sở thuế và Chuyển dịch lợi nhuận; và Tài chính bao trùm…

Về nội dung bàn luận tại SFOM, ông Vũ Nhữ Thăng cho hay, các thành viên APEC sẽ tiếp tục thảo luận và chia sẻ kinh nghiệm trong 4 chủ đề ưu tiên, đánh giá tiến độ triển khai các hoạt động hợp tác và dự kiến các kết quả báo cáo tại Hội nghị Bộ trưởng Tài chính vào tháng 10.

Theo chỉ đạo của các Bộ trưởng Tài chính về tăng cường hợp tác với các diễn đàn khác trong APEC, tại hội nghị SFOM sẽ có phiên thảo luận chung với Diễn đàn Sáng kiến Khoa học Đời sống (LSIF) và Nhóm công tác Y tế (HWG) về các tác động của sức khỏe cộng đồng tới ngân sách và y tế, và một phiên thảo luận chung khác với Ủy ban Kinh tế APEC về các khía cạnh tài chính trong Chương trình Cải cách chơi forex và Phát triển cơ sở hạ tầng APEC.

“SFOM cũng sẽ phối hợp với các tổ chức quốc tế và khu vực, bao gồm IMF, WB, ADB, OECD để đánh giá tình hình kinh tế tài chính toàn cầu và khu vực, thảo luận về các rủi ro và thách thức mà khu vực Châu Á – Thái Bình Dương đang phải đối mặt, và dự báo triển vọng của khu vực trong thời gian tới…”, ông Vũ Nhữ Thăng cho biết thêm.

Bên cạnh nội dung thảo luận về các chủ đề ưu tiên, các quan chức tài chính phối hợp với các tổ chức quốc tế và khu vực như IMF, WB, ADB, OECD thảo luận về tình hình kinh tế – tài chính quốc tế và khu vực, đánh giá những thuận lợi cũng như khó khăn thách thức mà khu vực Châu Á – Thái Bình Dương đang phải đối mặt và dự báo viễn cảnh khu vực trong thời gian tới. Hội nghị cũng sẽ rà soát tiến độ triển khai các sáng kiến của Kế hoạch Hành động Cebu.

Đặc biệt tại hội nghị lần này, thực hiện chủ trương tăng cường hợp tác với các diễn đàn khác trong APEC đã được các Bộ trưởng Tài chính nhấn mạnh tại Chiến lược Đổi mới Tiến trình Bộ trưởng Tài chính APEC (2016), lần đầu tiên các quan chức tài chính sẽ có phiên thảo luận chung với Diễn đàn Sáng kiến Khoa học Đời sống (LSIF) và Nhóm Công tác Y tế (HWG) APEC về đánh giá tác động của sức khoẻ cộng đồng tới ngân sách và kinh tế, và phiên thảo luận chung với Uỷ ban Kinh tế APEC (EC) về các vấn đề tài chính trong chương trình Cải cách chơi forex cơ cấu và Phát triển cơ sở hạ tầng của APEC. Đây là những bước đi quan trọng, mở đầu cho các hoạt động hợp tác liên lĩnh vực trong tương lai giữa các quan chức tài chính và các nhóm công tác/ diễn đàn khác trong và ngoài APEC.

Kết quả thảo luận tại SFOM sẽ là cơ sở cho các nội dung báo cáo lên Hội nghị Bộ trưởng Tài chính APEC tháng 10/2017.
