-gwen and ben see marriage the opposite way. gwen thinks its a waste and ben asks all of his friends to marry him no contest bc he likes the idea of being soulbonded or whatever. he and kevin got drunk and got married on an asteroid 5000 light years from earth and its completely null on earth but they still framed their certificate in the living room…. Their commitment to the bit will die when they die

-devlin is consistently grounded 24/7 for things ranging from unplugging bens life support to plug in his ds to waiting untill everyone leaves the house to turn on the fuckcrazy security systems and watch as his family tires to get in. he doesnt think hes being bad he didnt notice the cord was connected to the life support and he just wanted his family to practice breaking in , but he gets grounded anyway bc he needs to be taught a lesson. kenny is less usually grounded but thats bc hes better at hiding things, devlin just LOVES telling people information so he usually just tells on himself.

-i hate that in omniverse kevin joined the orginization that tortured him and kids as little as 6 years old so hes a househusband, he occasionally goes on missions and does work on vehicles but since ben is richer than god he can do whatever he wants basically. hes so happy he decorates the house head to toe for even the most minor of holidays and picks up the kids from school every afternoon. this is like the ulitmate outcome of his life for him. hes wearing the rooters suit in the pic bc even though hes forty now its still his only form of battle gear.

-gwen 'works' at friedkin university (crawls through the vents to get into her office bc the board of directors didnt like that she started chasing around her failing computer science students with hammers)she and albedo, who is a theater teacher, have the ultimate haterivalry. fuck the office but there like dwight and jim from the office. Gwen puts his stapler in jello.

-ben is overly friendly w most children and has a hard time being the mature adult in situations, but as kenny and devlin get older he gets better at being more authoritative. the only one in the family that can be strict is gwen, but shes scared she'll end up as controlling as her own mother so she lays off most of the time. kevin is terrified of repeating the same mistakes his father figures did to him so hes extremely careful with the kids (it helps that kevin is naturally very good w small children and animals but it doesnt rlly help that hes very childish at times and can anger easily. whenever he gets mad he just leaves the room as fast as possible so he never loses control)

-gwen and ben were kind of ambivalent to the idea of having kids until kevin broached the topic and he seemed so excited and enthusiastic abt it they immediatly changed their minds, which is rare for ben bc he doesnt usually rlly do things for other people, but combined w their shared history and the fact that even though hes not good at putting it into actions he still wants to make the ppl he loves happy, he offered to surrogate.

- over time gwen cares less and less abt passing as a human woman. She grows taller and taller as she gets older (by the time shes 35 shes taller than kevin) and she stops padding body fat/ tucking. The older she gets the more she delves into the uncanny valley

-kevin gets his horns at 50 because hes half osmosian, fullfilling the Kevin Bald prophecy

Short and sweet with a hint of Whump. Rewatched the last episode and was like 'damn tv 7 my ass' for the millionth time. Anywho, a short piece on how trauma bonded kids would not just return to normal the minute they return to their loved ones. I think it probably took them awhile to get to the time skip point in which they were. I may rewatch and do some rewrites or missing moments or added moments lol. This show was just too good.

TW for Panic attack (vaguely) and thoughts of death (mostly just near death experiences they faced, but also a little idealization in there.)

Darius doesnt like making assumptions about his friends. The island showed him exactly what damage that could do- even when he hadnt meant to, hadnt known he had been, but it was no excuse- he made a promise to himself to treat them right. His only friends.

So when his nightmares come back with a vengance, he doesnt breathe a word. They all went through hell and back on those Islands, they were all slowly settling back into their lives, they practically lived at eachothers houses- rotating through them because between their parents and themselves, they need the ability to verify the safety of eachother- but Darius sees them adjusting, trying to take back their previous lives with the new knowledge they have. And Darius had been right along with them, writing about their experiences and the lessons learned-

But now here he was.

He awoke quietly, far to use to the need of stealth and the light sleepers around him, he could still feel the hot wet breath of death encompassing. Its hard with a trembling body, but he manages to make it around the other sleeping teens and to the bathroom down the hall. They're at Yaz's house this time around, her mother's room on the second floor while they reside in the basement so hes not worried about her hearing him.

He slides down the wall as soon as he closes the door, theres soft moonlight coming from a small window above the shower, but the room remains mostly shadows. Theres cant be light, it will attract-

No. There could be. He just has to stand and hit the switch, because there is power here and no dinosaurs. He stares blankly at the cabinets instead, what use would light do him anyway? He was just gonna sit here like a lump anyway. He didnt need any light other than the moon, shining off tile, while he sits doing nothing. There is nothing productive to do now, no planning or night watch, no fighting bad guys or identifying dinosaur noises. Just his own breathing as a dream that mixed reality and his worst fears, plays over and over in his mind.

He had made so many mistakes.

He can think of so many instances where something he did had put one of his friends in danger. Things that had them almost dieing, heck Sammy practically had! And Ben, and Brooklyn, and Yaz and Kenji and Doctor Mae and-

And so many people had died.

Ones perfectly fine killing kids.

And others… who had just come to a park to have fun.

He had come so close multiple times too, but… if he had died instead of one of the others than, would that have been so bad?

Kenji rolls over, eyes squinting open, expecting to see the familiar form of his sleeping brother, the empty space that meets him instead has his heart rate spiking and his breath catching. He sits up- too quickly, it startles everyone else, but Darius is GONE- eyes tracking the entire room before he's reminded his brain of the fact they are NOT on the Islands. Darius hasnt been eaten by dinosaurs, but the panic still lingers that they CANT FIND HIM.

"Maybe… he just went to the bathroom?" Sammy offers, although shes already starting to stand.

"The lights off." Yaz is already standing at the hallway, "Doors closed though."

Kenji ventures forward first. Brooklyn close behind, and the others just behind her.

He knocks lightly, frowning further at the lack of response, he glances behind him and gets several nods, opens the door slightly. As expected, it's dark inside, the moon's glow barely illuminates the figure against the wall.

Darius doesn't react to his presence, his stare is blank, body motionless except for the slightest breath. It's terrifying to see such an emptiness in usually such bright eyes. There's raised red marks on his hand, wet and crusting with blood, Kenji's lips purse sadly. Swallowing thickly, he reaches out a careful hand, touches his knee lightly, expecting the flinch,

"Take it easy." He says softly, "You're safe."

It takes several moments, all of them crowded together on the floor of the bathroom- Ben actually sitting in the tub to make more space- allowing Darius the time he needs to come back to them. When he finally makes eye contact, it's hesitant, as if waiting for something.

"Hey bud, how you feelin?" Kenji's voice is gentle, nothing extra in his voice, his eyes hold a worry to them- they all do- but no judgment or anger.

Darius wants to tell them he's fine. That he's sorry. That it's nothing and they can go back to sleep. That everything is proceeding forward as it's supposed to. He opens his mouth to say just that,

"I thought that I was getting better."

That is not what he wanted to say. Seriously brain what the heck?? He can't be bringing them down like this-

"Hey, you are, we all are Darius. Setbacks are normal, and together we can make sure they don't last long." Brooklyn's soft voice breaks his thoughts, and his head snaps up to stare at her.

"You want to know my first thought when I couldn't find you?" Kenji asks, drawing his attention next, the curious look has the corners of his mouth twitching up before they fall again, "I thought you might of been eaten, or being chased, I-" he swallows the emotion, blinking back the wetness in his eyes, Darius reaches out and takes his hand.

"Sorry." And he means it, puts as much emotion as he can into the word, directing it at the room at large.

They were all healing. They all had moments of weakness. But they were a team, they had each other's backs, and for every step backwards, someone would be there to pull you forward again.

Summary: Matt tries to figure out the best way to go about the Fisk situation. But in the process, Matt realizes that it’s not as simple as he thought it was.

He never understood how she could do that, how she could settle anyone around her. It was easy for her to control a situation, and Matt always knew that would’ve made her a great lawyer.

Who could intimidate a woman who lived in her poker face?

Regardless of that, it was one of the many reasons he loved having her in his life. Things weren’t quite the same when she left in college. Phone calls didn’t have the same calming, comfortable effect as her presence did. And since she’d been back, Matt cherished every single day with her.

She was part of why he did it, why he put on that mask and became the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. Granted, he had started before she came back to town but at that point, it was the idea of her that called him to it. She was resilient and fiery, but gentle and understanding. She brought out the best in everyone around her, and maybe the worst in him at the same time. But Matt wouldn’t trade her for anything in the world.

“What are you thinking about?” She asked, bumping him gently with her shoulder.

“Hmm?” Matt answered. It would’ve been simply to say he was thinking of her, but he thought better of it. “Nothing, I just.. I think I’m gonna head to the church before work.”

“Sure.” She answered. “I’ll let Foggy know we’re gonna be late and-”

“You’re Catholic?” He raised his brows with a slight smile. She chuckled and it made his smile grow wider.

“Not in the slightest.” She laughed. “But who knows? Maybe there is something comforting about blind faith.” She shrugged.

“Thanks, Y/N, but I’ll be okay.” He patted her hand before gently taking his arm away from hers.

“You sure?” She asked carefully. “Is this about the Fisk thing this morning?”

“No, I’m just-”

“Just lying?” She challenged gently and Matt chuckled.

“I’m overdue for confession.” He corrected pointedly.

“I didn’t realize Catholicism came with deadlines.” She joked. “I’ll let Foggy know when I get to the office. Don’t take long, okay?”

“Yes, ma’am.” He smiled and offered her a lazy salute.

His talk with Father Lantom only made him teeter that uncertain line. Matt recognized that the more he put on the mask and the more he was the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, that line between right and wrong would get more and more blurred. Part of him was scared he would lose himself in the process, lose everyone he cared about. Doing what he did put them at risk, which was why he was keeping it a close secret. But at least he wasn’t completely alone in doing it.

He had a partner. Albeit a morally ambiguous partner with mild homicidal tendencies, but he knew she was trying. Matt had thought about Exodus since the first time he met her. She wanted to do good. She wanted to help people, same as him. And while her methods were brutal and bloody, they were heading to the same goal. And now, they were going to find everything they could to take down Fisk and make a real difference in Hell’s Kitchen.

And once that was settled, maybe then he could tell Y/N everything. Maybe then he could know who his partner really was, without the cover of night that hid them both.

In the meantime, he had a job to get to. And as he was coming up the stairs, he caught part of the conversation.

“It’s about asking the right people the right questions… In the right tone of voice.” Foggy explained.

“And what tone of voice is that?” Y/N chuckled, likely with arms crossed and a slight tilt to her head. “You gonna put on your Thor voice and try to intimidate them?”

“That’s how you get yourself hurt.” Ben said pointedly.

“Thank you!” Y/N announced as Matt entered the room.

“That’s what we keep telling them.” He said. “Maybe they’ll listen to you.”

“Ben Urich, Matt Murdock.” Karen introduced with annoyance in her voice. “Attorney at ‘Why The Hell Bother’.”

“You can’t get mad that he wants to look out for you.” Y/N mumbled before she groaned, dropping into a chair.

“My partners think we should be pursuing this through the legal system.” Foggy added.

“Safer that way.” Ben agreed, and Y/N threw her hand toward him as if to gesture that she was saying the same thing.

“Well why don’t we all just crawl under the covers then?” Karen rolled her eyes.

“Okay, seriously?” Y/N complained and pushed herself up.

“Easy.” Matt said gently and reached for her arm. There was a slight pause before Y/N sighed and put her arm in his grip, allowing him to pull her back. “Thank you.”

“My point is that there’s a reason everyone is trying to do this safely.” Y/N said carefully.

“I’m sorry but if Fisk is really behind everything that has happened, then we need to do something!”

“What are we gonna do?” Y/N pressed. Matt felt the tension in her arm while she bawled her hand into a fist. She had shifted her stance so her fist was hidden behind her hips and her weight was leaning into her back foot, like she was just waiting for the right word for her to throw the punch. “You gonna put on a mask too and try to catch him in an alley?”

“For Christ’s sake.” Karen muttered.

Matt moved his hand from his arm to her tightly clenched fist. Gently, he opened her hand and laced his fingers through hers. He was shocked to find how much warmer her palm had gotten in the few moments her fist was closed, but he figured it was nothing when she gave his hand a subtle squeeze, one that told him that she appreciated his presence.

“If we were the only ones after him, I’d agree with you, Karen.” Ben added. “But your friends came to see me the other night. Your friends in the masks.”

“Terrorist cop killers.” Foggy nodded.

“Again with that?” Y/N said quickly, bordering defensively. “Benefit of the doubt, Foggy. C’mon.”

“They’re saying they were framed… Printed this off the thumb drive he gave me.” Ben said, pulling a stack of papers from his bag. Y/N’s hand slipped from his as she moved to see what the papers said.

“Wait. If you have all of this then…” Karen began.

“Hearsay.” Y/N and Matt answered at the same time. He could practically feel the proud feeling Y/N had. She always liked when they were on the exact same page.

“Can’t print any of it without corroboration, can you?” Matt finished.

Ben and Foggy continued to bounce ideas off each other about whether or not Exodus and the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen were guilty. Matt took a moment to survey the girls’ response. Karen was still listening intently, no real indication of what she was thinking until she jumped into the conversation. And Y/N…

She was as calm as ever, the anger from just moments ago has vanished without a trace. It was almost like she wasn’t even there, like she was just trying to blend in and get through the conversation. She wasn’t uncomfortable with the topic, or afraid of what would come with investigating Fisk. She made that part clear that morning. But something about it had set off something in her head, but there were some things not even Matt could understand about Y/N.

“The Mask came to Ben for help.” Karen insisted, nearly desperate. “I really think we can trust him.. Right, Y/N?”

“Hmm?” She hummed, having lost herself in your own head,

“You trust the Mask, right?”

“Sure, him and Exodus, yeah.” She nodded, which made Ben turn towards her. Matt smiled slightly but wiped a hand over his mouth to cover it. “He uh.. He kinda saved me not that long ago.”

“Explains a lot.” Ben answered.

“And that means what, exactly?” Y/N challenged slightly.

“Easy there, Tiger.” Foggy said, a hand out in front. Y/N mocked him slightly before she flipped him off. The reaction drew a chuckle from Matt and Foggy.

“Why you won’t criminalize them.” Ben answered calmly.

“Look, what about the Union Allied money? Can we tie that to Fisk?” Karen tried to redirect the conversation. 

“The Mask says the money goes through a man named Leland Owlsley but ever since he got roughed up…”

“Fisk’s security won’t let anyone near.” Y/N finished with a nod, as if it was obvious. “Damn.” She mumbled.

“Same goes with James Wesley, the guy that hired you to defend Healy.”

Y/N’s pulse jumped and Matt heard her grind her teeth slightly. He wasn’t surprised that she couldn’t stand to hear his name.

“Nobody can totally erase their past. Somewhere out there has to be something.” Karen pressed. “A paper or a witness or… The truth.”

“Hang on…” Y/N said thoughtfully as she pieced together her idea. “James Wesley hired us for Healy. James Wesley works for Confed Global, and he was up front with Fisk. What’s the connection there?”

“I checked into that.” Ben wagged a finger towards Y/N like she was on to something. “FCC filings state Confed Global is where Fisk gets most of his reported income.”

“Alright, so if we play this out and Fisk is connected to Confed Global.” Matt continued. He was searching for a lead within that conversation just as much as his friends, although he was going to handle it differently. “That connects him to Westmeyer-Holt Contracting.”

“Grimy company strong arming tenants out of rent control apartments, hired by Armand Tully.”

“Who - according to Landman and Zack - is on vacation on an island no one can pronounce.” Foggy finished.

“Westmeyer-Holt to Confed to Fisk.” Matt nodded. “We pull that thread and see where it leads us.”

“I’m still not so sure about these mask guys.” Foggy shook his head, drawing a disappointed sigh from Y/N.

“He didn’t hurt Ben and he didn’t hurt me.” Karen reasoned. “They didn’t hurt Y/N, either. I’d take those two over Fisk any day. Besides, they kinda kick ass.”

Y/N radiated a certain pride as Karen said that, and that added on to Matt’s own pride. 

“If they’re so badass, why not take Fisk down themselves?” Foggy challenged lightly.

“Maybe he knows there’s some roads you can’t come back from.” Ben added.

“I’m glad he didn’t try to take on Fisk.” Y/N said honestly. Matt turned himself towards her, giving her next statement his full attention. “I’d hate for Fisk to be what corrupts one of the few good people in the Kitchen, the ones not in this room at least.”

“You really think he’s good?” Matt asked gently as Karen and Ben dove into another conversation.

Y/N took a moment, glancing over Matt’s shoulder before grabbing his arm and pulling him into his office. She shut the majority of the door before standing close to Matt.

“That’s a lot just for a ‘yes’ or ‘no’.” Matt tried to joke.

“It’s not that simple…” She sighed. “He came to see me a few nights ago.”

“He did?” Matt raised his brows to fake surprise. “What’d he say?”

“That he wanted to make sure I was safe… He cared about me and something about it was just-” She sighed, tapping her fingers against her hips. “Look. What if we know him?”

“That’s…” Matt blew out a sigh of his own. “That’s crazy. You really think so?”

“Part of me hopes not because that’d be devastating if someone else gets to him… But I can’t shake this feeling. He clearly knows me…”

“What about Exodus?” He tried to sound casual but the intention was clear. And it was clear Y/N picked up on it by the way she hesitated, staring him down as she searched for something.

“No…” She said slowly, calculated almost and he knew she was looking for some sort of clue. “I don’t have any ideas on her.”

“All I’m saying is Tully’s a dead end.” Foggy said firmly in the next room.

Y/N tapped Matt’s arm before hurrying into the main office, expecting Matt behind her. He kicked himself mentally as he followed, knowing that he gave away his interest in Exodus. Thankfully, he didn’t give anything away about his real interest in her, but if she followed that trail, he knew she’d be smart enough to put two and two together.

It felt like a matter of time now.

“…for all his real estate holdings in Hell’s Kitchen.” Foggy finished.

“Then that’s the link!” Karen exclaimed happily.

“When did this deal go through?” Y/N asked as she paced a few steps. She once told him it helped her think when she was moving and once she explained it, he started to notice that most of her ideas came when she was walking.

He was with her when she once wrote an entire case study while walking in circles in her dorm.

“This morning, according to records.”

“Shit.” She breathed, smacking her hands together in a quick gesture.

“So everything that’s happened up until now is before Fisk is on record. It all falls on Tully.” Matt confirmed.

“Another dead end.” Y/N sighed, dropping to sit on the table beside Matt before Foggy answered the knock on the door, revealing Ms. Cardenas.

She leaned against him and dropped her forehead on his shoulder. Matt chuckled lightly but put a hand on her leg. He knew that little huff usually happened when she was at the end of her rope. He thought it was cute, especially given the fact that she only ever did it to him. She did it to Foggy once but he didn’t know what to do in response.

“We’ll figure it out.” He told her and she shook her head with a small noise of protest. “Hey.”

“He’s covering his tracks cause he can’t hide anymore.” She said quietly before picking up her head and resting her chin on his shoulder instead. He smiled softly while she pouted. “We’ve got nothing.”

“We’ll find something.” Matt assured her and she hummed slightly. “Wanna know why?” She hummed again and the softness of it nearly made Matt shiver. “Cause you’re too stubborn to lose.”

She giggled slightly and lifted her head, though she stayed leaning in. She picked up the hand he had on her leg and held it in both of hers. 

“I’m not the only one.” She answered softly.

“They doubled the offer to get the tenants out.” Matt translated as that conversation stole his attention. 

“Her neighbors are thinking of taking it.” Karen continued after Elena told her side.

“It’s not a bad idea at this point.” Y/N shrugged as she stood.

“What? No!” Foggy argued. “Tell her to stand firm. We said we were gonna help her and that’s what we’re gonna do.”

“We have to think about her safety!” Y/N hissed to Foggy as Karen translated Foggy’s words. Matt tried to listen to both conversations, but Y/N’s voice kept his attention.

“Since when do you back down?” Foggy answered in the same hushed tone as he stepped aside with Y/N.

“We’re putting her at risk since Fisk owns the building.”

“We’re the only ones that are fighting for her. We can’t give up.”

“I no take.” Elena said firmly, making their hushed conversation stop. Y/N sighed slightly but came back to stand near Karen. “This my home. We fight, yes?”

“Yes! Sí!” Foggy nodded enthusiastically before gesturing to Y/N, who seemed to be the only one thinking otherwise.

“Claro que sí.” Y/N smiled, though Matt could tell it was something of a show for Elena’s sake. 

“He is good man.” Elena said gently. “All of you… Good.”

“Gracias, señora.” Y/N gave a small bow before Foggy walked her out.

“You shouldn’t have done that.” Matt said when the door closed. Y/N walked past him, patting him on the shoulder as she did so. Sometimes she did it as a gesture to let him know she was walking by and sometimes she did it as a gesture to hand the conversation over to him. Either way, he enjoyed it.

“What? We fight for the rights of the little guy, right?” Foggy answered.

“Fisk isn’t gonna stop until he gets the tenements.”

“So we’re just supposed to roll over?” Karen scoffed.

“Fisk is public on this.” Foggy reasoned. “If we can tie him up with an injunction, we can find something in the deposition-“

“You really think we’re gonna trip this guy up with a deposition?” Matt insisted.

“Matt’s right.” Y/N said from behind him. “But so is Foggy.”

“Thank you!” Foggy gestured to Y/N, who had now come around to stand beside Matt. “What am I right about?”

“He’s public… How do you get rid of people without raising too many questions?” She led, twirling her hand in a circle as she hoped someone else would catch on. When no one said anything, she groaned and dropped her hand against her leg with a smack. “A hired gun. Assassinations. Someone who can make things look like accidents. But since Elena’s building has a criminal history, it doesn’t even have to.”

“What?” Karen asked incredulously.

“He’s tried to hire Exodus before. He very likely could do it again.” She reasoned. “Not saying she would take it but I know she’s not as committed to no killing as the Mask.”

“I’m sorry, can we just… Circle back, really quick. He did what? Do you know why?” Foggy asked. “How do you even know that in the first place?”

“I.. I may have  met her once...” Y/N confessed hesitantly. “I talked to her a little bit and she said she used to be a- a Black Widow assassin? Whatever that is. Point is, Fisk tried to hire her to kill the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. You think he won’t reach out again?”

“That’s crazy!” Foggy announced, causing Y/N to begin pacing in annoyance. She hated when people didn’t listen, or just flat out ignored her point. “You really think he’s gonna have these people killed? And why would she do it if she’s the good guy?”

“She was an assassin!” Y/N said pointedly. “She doesn’t have a code or any sort of morals!”

“But she’s trying to do something good, right?” Foggy tried, shockingly coming to Exodus’ defense. The roles were usually reversed so Matt wondered why the sudden change.

“And I commend her for that.” Y/N agreed. “But no one is perfect. If there’s no reason to try…”

“Foggy’s right. She’s better than that.” Matt nodded, hoping to distract and essentially calm Y/N. “She has reason.”

“You think you know her?” She scoffed. There was a hint that she knew something no one else did, something about Exodus. But she’d never admit to it, and Matt knew that so he didn’t push. He figured he’d ask Exodus the right questions next time he got the chance.

“You believed in her not that long ago.” Matt corrected. “I trust that.”

She was silent for a moment as she let his words sink in. He heard a small exhale of breath, like a very weak chuckle.

“Fine.” She said finally. “But really, my point is that you guys don’t get who we’re dealing with.”

“No, we get it! Alright?” Karen said quickly, drawing everyone’s attention. “He’s a rich dickhead who thinks he can pay people off. And he’s standing in front of city hall like he’s already won!” She exclaimed and threw her arm forward.

There was the sound of crumbled paper as Y/N groaned. “You know he can’t see that.”

“We can’t let him win!” Karen insisted. 

“I know.” Matt nodded.

“So what are we gonna do?” Foggy asked.

“Know your enemy, basic tenet of war.” Y/N said simply as she moved, as if an idea had struck her. “Works for law too. We’ve gotta keep digging. Karen’s got a point. There’s gotta be something or someone out there that’ll put us on the right path.”

“Thank you.” Karen said in relief, though her shock that Y/N was on her side was clear. 

“Whatever you’re gonna do.” Matt added, sidestepping to block her path. “Do it quietly. Under the radar.”

“Where are you going anyway?” Foggy asked Y/N.

“There was a woman with Fisk. Vanessa.”

“Vanessa Marianna.” Karen finished. “Says she works at the Scene Contempo Gallery.”

“Matty.” Y/N grinned. “How about we invest in some art?”

“Not quite under the radar, is it?” Foggy teased as they were on their way out.

Matt linked arms with Y/N as they wandered the gallery. Matt was listening to everything around him. The steady heart beats of the security guards, the click of high heeled shoes along the ground, the shuffle of guns in holsters under the security’s jacket.

“May I help you two?” Vanessa came over and greeted.

“I hope so.” Y/N said sweetly. “I’m Y/N.”

“Matthew.” He nodded and held a hand out to shake.

“Vanessa.”

“You’re probably wondering what a man who can’t see is doing in an art gallery.” Matt joked and Vanessa chuckled. He could practically hear Y/N roll her eyes, though he knew she was smiling.

“I didn’t want to be forward.”

“Our apartment is a bit stark, to be honest.” Y/N stepped in. “I thought some art could warm it up.”

Matt noticed that she said “our” rather than “his” or “my”. Matt couldn’t quite think of a reason why she would say that, other than maybe creating a ruse. He liked the way it sounded from her, to think of them as living together. To think of coming home to her, her sweet voice and gentle touches. To fall asleep with her on his chest. 

“There’s something very intimate in experiencing art through someone else’s eyes.” Vanessa said honestly as she guided them through the gallery. “Give me an idea of what you’re looking for.”

“Honestly…” Y/N blew out a sigh, as if to show she was thinking. “I don’t know. Any ideas?” She nudged him.

“No, I’m not sure either.” He answered.

“Good.” Vanessa said, almost proudly. “Art isn’t furniture. If you knew exactly what you were looking for, you’d just be decorating… Art should speak to you, move you. Like this, one of my favorite pieces.”

“Wow.” Y/N breathed.

“Describe it to me.” Matt asked Vanessa.

“Imagine a sea of tonal reds.” She began. “The color of anger, rage, but also the color of the heart. Love… Hope.”

“Sounds a bit aggressive…” He nodded before leaning in towards Y/N. “Y/N? What do you think, sweetheart?”

Y/N’s heartbeat went a little faster and she gripped his arm a bit tighter. He could hear the smile in her voice, knowing her cheeks were flushed.

“It’s like the perfect balance between the two… It’s vibrant and loud but also gentle and… Vulnerable.” Y/N said thoughtfully. “It’s like passion.”

“I like her.” Vanessa said proudly.

“Tell me, do you have a man in your life?” Matt asked.

“Matthew.” She scolded lightly. “Are you hitting on me?”

“No.” Matt chuckled. “I’m more than happy.” He patted Y/N’s hand. “I just mean, what does he respond to? What does he like? If I can get inside the head of a man who won such a charming woman, maybe it would inform my decision.”

“Take it down a notch, will you?” Y/N muttered to herself, likely assuming he wouldn’t hear.

“Well, you could always ask him yourself.” Vanessa grinned, walking away.

He heard Fisk enter the room, the strong steady heartbeat pounding in his ear. He also heard Y/N’s heart pick up, her breathing growing deeper. But that only lasted for a moment. She collected herself easily before leaning over to whisper.

“This wasn’t supposed to happen.” She said quietly, the slightly bit of hesitation in her voice.

“I know.” He replied in the same hushed tone. “It’s okay. Follow my lead…”

“Wilson Fisk, Matthew…” Vanessa trailed off.

“Murdock.” Matt nodded. “This is Y/N.” Matt gestured to her.

“Y/N Vostokoff.” She added with a small bow of her head. The answer drew a small, confused head tilt from Matt but he quickly recovered. Why not use her real name?

“The attorney.” Fisk nodded. There was a beat of silence, as if he was taking something in. Y/N swallowed hard beside Matt, leaning in to him a bit. She was afraid, if only for a moment. “I’ve.. heard about your work in Hell’s Kitchen.”

“We’ve heard all about yours as well.” Y/N replied with a small challenge. He could only imagine the determined set of her jaw, high tilt of her head and quirk of her left brow.

“Mr. Murdock and Ms. Vostokoff are looking to purchase some art and were looking for some advice from a man of taste.” Vanessa said gently, breaking the rising tension.

“Simple.” Fisk nodded. “Buy whatever the lady tells you.”

“That’s fair.” Y/N chuckled.

“Thank you… But maybe we shouldn’t be talking, given we’re on opposing sides of a tenancy case.” Matt said coolly.

“Are you?” Vanessa asked.

“Yes, the rental properties I recently acquired from Mr. Tully… But I'm sure that will be settled to everyone’s benefit.”

Fisk was about to go onto a whole speech about what’s good for Hell’s Kitchen but Vanessa cut in, reminding that they were there as customers. Matt decided he liked Vanessa, that she was an honest woman. But he quickly realized she loved Wilson Fisk, would mourn his death. And Fisk loved her.

“Have you two changed your mind about what you came for?” She asked as they moved to leave.

“Oh, no.” Y/N answered with a polite smile. She always was a quick thinker and Matt always admired that. “Truthfully, I love it. But we have an appointment at a gallery in New Jersey tomorrow and I like to keep my options open. Would it be possible to hold it for us?”

There it was again… Us. It just sounded so good coming from her. 

“Of course. How do you spell your last name?” Vanessa replied.

“V-O-S-T-O-K-O-F-F.” Y/N said quickly. “Thank you, Vanessa. I’ll call tomorrow.”

“I look forward to hearing from you.”

Him and Y/N parted ways after that. He walked her home but he went back to the church. Nothing about their visit with Vanessa made anything clearer, so he hoped Father Lantom could give him some direction. They talked about whether he wanted to kill Fisk and whether he had to kill Fisk. Matt mentioned that he knew ‘someone else’ who would be able to do it, but he still wasn’t sure if he should let her. After all, he was so adamant that she could be more than just a trained killer. It wouldn’t be fair to ask her to do something like that, just because he couldn’t bring himself to do it.

It was a lot to think about.

The next day, he went into the office with a full head. Taking the night off from the Devil, he couldn’t help but wonder what Exodus was up to without him. He never got a chance to ask her why she was on the roof of his apartment building that night, but she probably would’ve asked too many questions anyway.

After a quick conversation about the men who tried to jump Karen outside of Elena’s, Y/N came out of Matt’s office with a pep in her step that she hadn’t had in a while. His head tilted toward her as she came to his side.

“You’re peppy this morning.” He smiled at her.

“I have reason to be.” She nodded before she grabbed his arm and hopped with excitement. “You’re gonna love it! Foggy, show him the thing!”

“Yes, the thing!” Foggy answered with the same giddiness, and Matt would be lying if he said it wasn’t contagious. He couldn’t keep back the grin as Y/N pushed the small, paper covered plaque into his hands before she folded hers behind her back. “It’s just like I drew on the napkin that you couldn’t see way back when.”

Matt’s fingers skimmed the letter of the sign, reading NELSON AND MURDOCK ATTORNEYS AT LAW. Y/N giggled with excitement at his side and he could feel the pride coming from her.

“It’s a little small.” Matt teased, making Y/N bump him with her shoulder.

“Building regulations.” Foggy defended.

“Well, so are we.” Y/N said with admiration dripping off her words. “Small but oh so strong… And we’re gonna make a difference.”

“I know it doesn’t always feel like it but we are, with the power of the law.” Foggy added.

“Okay.” Matt smirked.

“Dragged me into this rinky dink firm, Murdock.” Foggy teased as he clamped a hand on his friend’s shoulder. “You suckered Y/N in here and got Karen to stick around… And I’ll never be able to thank you for that.”

 After a beat of silence, he turned to Foggy. “You’re not gonna kiss me.”

“I’m feeling a little something.” Foggy laughed before the phone rang.

Matt felt Y/N pull him a few steps away and he easily followed. She threw one arm around his shoulders and the other went to his cheek. She leaned up on her toes and pulled him down to meet her so she could place a kiss on his cheek.

“You didn’t say I wasn’t gonna kiss you.” She smiled.

His brows raised as a heat climbed to his cheeks. She took one hand in hers before reaching over and taking one of Foggy’s in her other.

“I’m so proud of you guys.” She said softly.

“You’re part of this firm too, Y/N.” Foggy said, patting her on the back.

“Not like you guys.” She shook her head. “Nelson and Murdock are quite literally you two. The brains and the beauty.”

“Uh, who is who?” Foggy joked.

“I’ll let you figure it out.” Y/N returned the joke.

“Foggy’s right.” Matt told her honestly. “You were always part of this dream.”

“I love you guys.” She said.

“Aw.” Matt sighed, pulling her in for a hug. Foggy quickly joined the embrace and sandwiched her between them. She laughed, though she was pressed against his chest so it was a muffled sound, but it made Matt happy either way. “We love you too.” 

The light energy of the office was quickly brought down when they received the call from the morgue. Ms. Cardenas had been killed and they were asked to identify her. Karen was heartbroken, as was Foggy. Matt was pissed, though he tried to hide it. Y/N, standing beside Matt, was as unreadable as ever. It was like she had completely shut down, feeling and showing absolutely nothing.

Later that night, the trio went for drinks at Josie’s in hopes of drinking the grief away, at least for the night. Y/N excused herself from the event, saying she would rather go home. They each offered to go with her so she wouldn’t have to be alone, but she politely declined and said she’d be able to cope better on her own. Matt wasn’t surprised when she turned down Karen, or even Foggy. But he was surprised - and a bit upset - when she even turned him away.

After yet another speech from Fisk, spinning Ms. Carenas’ death into something that would gain him sympathy, he thought it better than Y/N went home she didn’t have to hear it. He could easily tell that she was scared when they ran into Fisk at Vanessa’s gallery. And while Matt didn’t expect it either, he wasn’t surprised. But he knew that it had an effect on Y/N, especially knowing that he was connected to the Russians that had kidnapped her not too long ago. All it did was give him a deeper resolve, to get rid of Fisk and make sure no one like that could hurt Y/N or the rest of Hell’s Kitchen.

That night he was on a mission. Find the man who killed Ms. Cardenas and follow his connections all the way to Fisk. That’s pretty much what he found too. He was directed to a warehouse near the docks, and while he knew it was a set-up, he had to go. Once he was outside, he dialed speed dial two.

“Exodus… It’s me.” He said carefully. “I uh- I know you probably have something else you’re doing tonight but if you can… I could use your help. I have a lead on Fisk and I can’t do it on my own. Well, I guess I can but I don’t want to. I need you… Please… It’s the warehouse by the docks. If you don't come by, I’ll call you afterwards and let you know what happened.”

Going in, Matt found blueprints and someone who he wasn’t looking for. It wasn’t Fisk, but the man who was at the docks when Stick was trying to get rid of the Black Sky. He tried stalling with conversation, hoping he could buy time until Exodus would show up. But even then, he had no idea if she would.

She was always hit or miss, never showing too much favoring of one side over the other. But he trusted her. He assumed she trusted him since she gave him a number to reach her at. All he could do was pray that she would show and be on his side. If she wasn’t, then so much would go very wrong very fast.

And the fight against the man was brutal. Exhausting. Every second the fight lasted felt like hours. Every punch and dodge and strike burned through Matt’s muscles and every time the damn blade sliced his skin, it took a chunk of his stamina with it. He had all but given up that Exodus would show up until he heard that steady sound.

Her footfalls were growing closer very fast and her heartbeat was clear as day. He heard her unsheathe a knife and shortly after, he heard it whizzing through the air and shattering a light bulb. The sparks ignited the gas puddle he was standing in and engulfed the man in a blazing fire.

He came at Matt again but Matt simply dropped to a knee and let Exodus roll over his back. Her feet connected with a solid kick that sent the other man to his back. When he didn’t get back up, Matt felt Exodus put his arm over her shoulders and haul him to his feet.

“Maybe next time, call me earlier than when you’re outside.” She scolded as she helped him up.

“Wasn’t sure you’d show.” He panted and reached for his heavily bleeding side.

“That’s fair.” She answered, but before she could add anything else, Fisk’s voice cut in.

“Thank you.” He announced as he entered the room. Exodus reached behind her and pulled a gun from her belt. “Nobu was becoming an issue. I appreciate you-”

“You tricked us into doing your dirty work.” Exodus scoffed. “Pathetic… Can’t even handle your own problems.”

“You wanted us to do this?” Matt managed.

“I bet you killed Elena Cardenas too.” Exodus pressed. She made a gesture to move forward but Matt’s groans drew her hesitantly back to her original position. “You didn’t even care about her!”

“In a perfect world, those two would’ve taken each other out and you, Exodus. You would be standing with me, but it’s not perfect.. Not yet, anyways.”

“You think I would ever stand beside you?” She scoffed, gripping her gun tighter. “You killed an innocent woman! A woman who just wanted to keep her home!”

“You know, this took longer than expected. But Nobu didn’t mind, he just meditated for hours… I find it difficult to meditate. My mind won’t quiet.”

“I have a solution for that.” Exodus shook her gun with a scoff. “Shuts everything down, nice and easy, though it’s a bit messy sometimes.”

“It’s a character flaw, I suppose… We all have them. Like you two, for example. You both have a weakness for women and children.”

“Weakness?” Matt asked quietly, drawing his arm off Exodus and standing on his own. 

“I assumed it extended to the elderly so I baited the hook.” Fisk continues plainly.

“Baited the hook.” Exodus repeated. “You say that like her life meant nothing.”

“You took her life just to get our attention?” Matt managed.

“My options were limited by necessity.” Fisk said lowly. The anger radiated off Y/N as she shoved her gun away, clearly deciding she wanted to make it more personal, and Matt didn’t blame her. “I take no joy in her passing.”

“I’m… gonna kill you.” He said through his own burning anger.

“No, he’s not.” Exodus said firmly, taking a step forward. “But I sure as hell can.”

“Take your shot.” 

Matt waited, just a moment. When he knew Exodus was about to move, he reached out and shoved her to the side. She fell to the side and that allowed Matt to make his move on Fisk.

The two traded blows until Fisk got the upper hand, beating on Matt while he was on his back. Matt thought the brutal blows wouldn’t stop until suddenly, they did.

He heard Exodus’ heavy breathing, her grunts and groans and small sounds of exertion as she took on Fisk on her own. The easy landings of her feet against the ground filled in the silences, as did the groans from Fisk when her attacks landed. The sharp buzzing of her favored weapon cut through the air and he heard the crackle of electricity that hit its mark. Within a few seconds of that sound, she was by his side again and hauling him to his feet.

“You gotta get up.” She said desperately. “Please, get up. Get up.”

“You gotta.. Gotta go before he.. Before he-” Matt tried, though there wasn’t much in him to fight against her.

“I don’t give a shit. You need to go. Get somewhere safe, alright? Call someone to help you.” Exodus insisted.

“Ex-”

“You can’t help me like this.” She cut in, shoving him slightly away from her. “You’ll bleed out before you can land a punch. Please… I need you to get through this.”

“It’s disappointing…” Fisk said as Exodus shoved him away again. He didn’t need to see her face to know she was desperate. “Wesley.”

Matt hesitated, only for a second. He knew there was a gun pointed at him and he knew Exodus was staring at him. But he couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if he left her. Would Fisk kill her?

Before he could voice any sort of opposition, the action picked up again. Exodus took on Wesley and kept him from getting a clear shot against Matt. He jumped through the window and gave into the current of the river, allowing the water to do most of the work to get him away. As he was floating away, he heard one final exchange.

“You can’t stand against us forever, Exodus. What will it take to earn your loyalty?” Fisk asked her.

“I’m surprised you think I have any.” She answered firmly, angrily. “My loyalty is to myself… But my alliance is something different.”

Matt somehow made it home. He didn’t know how and he didn’t care. He was home. He was alive, sort of. He collapsed on his floor and the next thing he knew, he was waking up on his couch with a blanket and covered in pain. Every movement hurt, even to breath. He poked and prodded at his injuries, regretting every touch when the pain burned through is body.

“Wouldn’t do that if I were you.” Foggy said from his kitchen. His anger was very clear and Matt didn’t blame him. “Well, maybe I would, cause what the hell do I know about Matt Murdock?”

“You stitched me up?” Matt asked, trying to gain some sort of picture of what conspired after he collapsed.

“Nope.” Foggy said flatly. “It was your nurse friend. You took a swing on me when I tried to get you to a hospital and told me to call her instead.”

“Sorry… I don’t remember..”

“So, what? You’re not really blind?” Foggy argued. “You can see?”

“No, that’s not- You’re not listening.” Matt sighed after having just explained his sight.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. World on fire. Whatever! But you can see?”

“In a manner of speaking, yes. But I-”

“No! There’s no manner!” Foggy stepped closer and flipped off his friend. “How many fingers am I holding up?”

“One.” Matt sighed.

“All these years, I actually felt sorry for you.” Foggy said in defeat.

“I didn’t ask for that. I never- I never asked for that.” Matt defended quickly.

“And I never asked to be lied to.” Foggy countered. “I thought we were friends.”

“We are!”

“You’ve been lying to me, Matt, since the day we met. You think Y/N asked to be lied to? God, you know the way that she goes out of her way to help you! She is a goddamn saint when it comes to you and you turn around and lie to her!”

“I know I don’t deserve her. But what did you expect me to say, Foggy?” Matt challenged weakly. Thinking of how Y/N would react after everything she always did for him, it made his heart hurt. He would lose her, and with all the physical pain he was already dealing with, he couldn’t take that thought. “What? Something like ‘Hi, I’m Matt. I got chemicals splashed in my eyes as a kid and it gave me heightened senses’?”

“Maybe not lead with that!”

“I didn’t even tell my dad when it happened.”

“But you told the nurse!”

“Cause she found me in a dumpster, half dead. I didn’t have a choice.”

There was silence as Foggy let the information settle. Matt knew it was a lot to take in and that in part why didn’t want to mention any of it to anyone. It was a lot for anyone to handle, so he didn’t blame Foggy for his anger, his disbelief and his pain.

“Did you blow up buildings? Shoot those cops?” Foggy asked finally.

“Do you even need to ask me that?” Matt tried to deflect, knowing he couldn’t criminalize Exodus. Foggy was just warming up to her and she helped save Matt’s life. He couldn’t do that to her.

“Yeah, I think I do.”

“No, it was all Fisk.”

“He did this to you?”

“He and Nobu, this ninja… Exodus is the only reason I got out of there alive.”

“Matt, you’re a lawyer! You’re supposed to help people!”

“I am.” Matt said quietly.

“In a mask! Y’know what they call that? A vigilante! Someone who acts outside of the law!

The only thing that disrupted Foggy’s rant was Matt’s phone calling out Y/N’s name. Foggy snatched it before Matt could.

“Foggy, wait.” He tried.

“No, she deserves to know.” Foggy said firmly.

“Please.” Matt nearly begged. “You can’t tell her, please.”

The sound stopped but was immediately replaced with Foggy’s ringtone going off.

“It’s her again.” He announced.

“Please, Foggy.” Matt tried again.

With a sigh, Foggy answered the phone. “Hey, Y/N.”

“Hi.” She beamed. “I tried calling Matt but he didn’t answer. Are you with him?”

“Yeah, we’re at his place.” He said flatly.

“Okay… What happened? You sound pissed.”

“Yeah, Matt was-” Foggy turned to glare at his friend before returning his attention to the call. “Matt was in an accident.”

“Goddammit.” She sighed. “What happened?”

“He was in a car accident.”

“Please tell me he wasn’t driving.”

Even from across the room, Matt could hear her worry.

“No, he just- He got hit.”

“Well is he okay?” Y/N pressed. “What aren’t you telling me?”

“Nothing, I’m just tired. Okay?”

“Y’know what. I’m just gonna come over.”

“No, just stay at the office.” Foggy said firmly, to which Y/N scoffed. “We need you there.”

“No.” Y/N said slowly. “I’m going to go to Matt’s place because Matty is just as much my friend as he is yours, Foggy.”

“There’s nothing you can do here.”

“I don’t care.”

“Y/N. I got this.”

“It’s fine.” Matt sighed. “Just let her come.”

“I don’t know how you always manage to get your way.” Foggy sighed into the phone. “He said it’s fine.”

“Good. Because I was coming over either way and I bet he knew that.” Y/N said smugly. “I’ll stay at the office till close and I’ll be sure to bring my favorite remedies. See you later..”

“Thank you.” Matt said softly when Foggy hung up the phone.

“Screw you. I just lied to someone I care about.” Foggy said bitterly. “And she sure as hell doesn’t deserve that… I want to know everything. Don’t leave anything out..”

Matt was answering all of Foggy’s questions. He knew how absurd some of his answers sounded but it was odd talking about it. He hadn’t really talked about the details before, so getting into some of them then were hard to explain.

“I know you haven’t showered since yesterday morning, but you rinsed your face in my kitchen sink. I know you had onions in your lunch two days ago. I know you’re tired, and hungry. And I know the more I say, the faster your heart beats.”

“You can hear a heartbeat?” Foggy asked in gentle shock. “From across the room?”

“It helps anticipate behavior… When they’ll attack. When they’re lying… Certain emotions.”

“Emotions.. So you can tell with Y/N and how she…?”

“No, Y/N is- Y/N is harder to read. She- She’s a lot more aware of herself than most people.”

“During the entire time I’ve known you, when I wasn’t telling the truth, you knew? And you just played along?’

“Basically…”

“God, if you weren’t half dead, I would kick your ass, Murdock. Am I lying about that?”

“No…”

“Was any of it ever real with us?” Foggy asked weakly. “With Y/N?”

“Yes, you- You guys are my friends and I- I care about you both.”

“Just not enough to tell us the truth…”

While Foggy stepped away to answer the phone, Matt took a moment to think about the night prior. Though he didn’t really want to, he thought about those last few moments with Exodus before he left. He thought of how she threw herself into a fight with Fisk just to help him. How she was fearless and insanely brave for taking him on on her own. He heard her desperate pleas for him to get away and let her handle it. For someone who claimed to be and feel nothing, she sure was quick to throw herself on the fire for him.

Then he thought about Y/N. How loving and patient she had always been with him. He thought of how sweetly she talked to him, how gentle her touches were. He imagined her hand on his arm, just a gesture to show that she was near. He thought of how she always linked arms with him when they walked, regardless of whether his cane was out or not. Foggy was right. She was more than he deserved.

When Foggy came back, Matt told him about why he was at the warehouse. He told him that he wanted to kill Fisk.

“You gotta add executioner to the list?” Foggy challenged.

“I didn’t think I had a choice, but… Exodus was there. She stepped in and made sure I got out.” Matt explained carefully.

“What happened to making the law work for us?”

“Sometimes that isn’t enough.”

A quick knock on the door was the only thing that stopped the conversation in its tracks. She opened it without waiting for someone to answer and she entered the room quickly.

“Okay, I have food. I have coffee. I have some first aid stuff. And I have- Holy shit.” She said before putting the bags on the table. She hurried around the couch and knelt in front of Matt. “What the hell, Matty?” She breathed.

“I’m sorry, I just- I wasn’t paying attention.” Matt said quietly, defeated. Hearing her being upset was worse than just knowing.

“This is why I don’t like you walking alone.” She sighed as she stood, placing a gentle hand on his cheek. He leaned into her touch slightly, though Foggy scoffed behind her. “And you, Fogster. I brought stuff for you too because you sounded exhausted on the phone.”

“Yeah, it’s been one hell of a night.” Foggy agreed. “Hey, what happened to your head?”

“Hmm?” Y/N hummed, as if she hadn’t heard him. “Oh, I busted my forehead on my cabinet door. I was putting dishes away last night and just wasn’t paying attention.”

“You’re both idiots.” Foggy sighed as he accepted Y/N’s gifts.

“At least mine wasn’t a car.” She mumbled as she leaned over and handed Matt the tupperware. “Eat a little.. Please.”

“Yeah.” He nodded.

“What’s with the tension, boys?” She asked finally.

“He wants to say something.” Matt said plainly.

“Kinda don’t.” Foggy shook his head.

“Do you guys need a minute?” Y/N asked carefully. “I feel like there’s something unfinished here and I’m not gonna deal with awkward tension around the office cause of this.”

“There is.” Foggy nodded. “But it can wa-”

“No, I can step outside.” She nodded. “I needed to make a call today anyways so I will be in the hall doing that while you two settle this.”

“Y/N, it’s fine. Just-” Foggy tried before sighing. “And she's gone.”

“Your breathing changes when there’s something you wanna say.” Matt said simply.

“Now you’re just showing off.” Foggy rolled his eyes.

“Just say it.”

“You run around dressed like a moron and beat people up!” Foggy announced loudly. For a second, Matt was worried Y/N would hear. But he didn’t have long to dawdle on that thought.

“It’s not that simple!”

“How the hell do you go from that to this?” Foggy exclaimed desperately.

“Before this, I used to lay in bed and listen to the sirens… But after, I realized just how many sirens there actually were.”

“So you’ve been doing this since you were a kid.”

“No, I- I tried not to fight, to just block it out. But for years, I just- I buried my head and turned away. But after we quit Landman and Zack, I heard a little girl in a building down the block. Her father liked to go into her room late at night when his wife was asleep… I called Child Services but the mom wouldn’t believe it and swore it wasn't true. The dad was careful about what he did, didn’t leave a mark. The law couldn’t help that little girl, but I could… He spent the next month in a hospital, eating through a straw, and I never slept better.”

“God, you say this like… Like one day you just had it. But you had to keep training since that Stick guy to do what you do. Maybe this isn’t about justice, Matt. Maybe you just want an excuse to hit someone.”

“I don’t wanna stop.”

“You’re gonna get yourself killed if you keep this up.” Foggy said simply. “You do know that, right?”

“I can take care of myself.”

“And the rest of us? Me? Karen? Y/N?” Foggy pressed. “How do you think she’s gonna take it when one day, she has to help bury you? We’re all a part of this now.”

“If I stop, who’s gonna stop Fisk?”

“I don’t know, the Law? Or Exodus? You said she has no one so why not let her get herself killed?”

“She doesn’t have no one… She has me.”

“Jesus.” Foggy groaned.

“If you could’ve put on a mask and prevented what happened to Elena… If you could’ve stopped what happened to Y/N… You’re telling me you wouldn't?”

“That’s not fair.”

“We don’t live in a fair world. We live in this one. And I’m doing everything I can to make it a better place.”

“Sounds a lot like what Fisk says.”

“Don’t. Don’t twist this around.”

“You told me you were willing to kill, Matt. How is that any different than how he solves his problems?”

“I was wrong. I know that… I know I made a mistake.”

“No, misspelling Hanukkah is a mistake. Attempted murder is something else. I mean, did you ever stop to think about what would happen if you went to jail? Or worse? Do you really think that people would believe that I didn’t know what you were doing? That Y/N didn’t know? Or Karen?”

“The city needs me in that mask, Foggy. Exodus needs me.”

“Maybe she does… But I only ever needed my friend… I wouldn’t have kept this from you.”

“You don’t know that.. You don’t know that.”

“Yeah… I do.”

With that final word, Foggy left despite Matt calling him back. Y/N came in almost immediately after and placed herself on the couch beside Matt. She angled her body towards him and crossed one leg under the other. She was quiet for a minute, giving Matt a chance to talk first.

“Matty…You okay?” She asked gently. “And I don’t mean physically.”

“No.” He cried. “I’m not.”

“Come here.” She sighed and leaned forward, gently grabbing him by the shoulders and pulling him into her chest.

His arms came around her as she leaned back. One hand rubbed the back of his neck while the other was in his hair. He knew Foggy was right and he shouldn’t lie to Y/N. She deserved the truth. She deserved everything and then some. But Matt just couldn’t bring himself to risk losing her. And he knew it was selfish and everyday he kept the secret was another day that would add to her own explosive reaction. But in that moment, with his head on her chest and her gentle, reassuring touches… Matt accepted the risk of waiting another day.

Matt loved Y/N. How could he risk that?

okay so i promised my thoughts on the hbo angels production so here are my sort-of abridged thoughts. i might post something more organized later maybe but we will see.

but i would say - to anyone who has seen the play, i would recommend watching it if you really did enjoy it and the characters, because i think it offers an interesting meditation on the characters that i think might appeal differently/more to different people. it also has al pacino in it and like. thats enough 4 me tbh. altogether i didn't LOVE it, but i thought it was altogether pretty good and i think it's an enjoyable enough watch if you like the story/concept/characters.

however, if you want to get my impression before you decide to watch (because it is like 7hrs of television) then u can decide from my more detailed thoughts <3

MORE THOUGHTS UNDER THE CUT TO SPARE EVERYONE!

okay so i will make a little disclaimer that although i am an andrew garfield enjoyer, i tried to be as objective as possible, and not show my gay little homosexual bias <3 truly though, i really do love the character of prior beyond the fact that he plays him, so this is more about how i read the character than anything else.

but here's what i liked

- al pacino kills as roy cohn, obviously. this was very expected but he offers a very different take on the role compared to nathan lane's take, one which is more meditative and a little more subtle. his scenes with meryl streep as ethel rosenberg are very impactful and emotional and i think they do a great job. his relationship with joe is also very good.

- it maintains great closeness to the original script, which is great, because it maintains a lot of the style. angels is heavily styled so i think removing a lot or changing it massively wouldn't work very well. tony kushner wrote the screenplay, so i think he did a great job obviously since it's his own work. they also maintain the character doubling, which is important to me especially in the fact that the angels are people from prior's life -- very glad they didnt cut or change that.

- ben shenkman does a great job as louis. i also think he looks very nice so that's like a benefit. he brings a lot of sexiness and chemistry, especially to the joe and louis relationship which i enjoyed.

- i think there's obviously pros and cons to both theatre and film adaptions, so there are obviously sort of. attached positives to the fact that this is a film adaption. obviously we love set dressing, we love (some of) the special effects, we love closeup shots, so you can see reactions better (which in ways does enhance some of the depth between the characters, which i noticed especially in the relationship between joe and louis.)

- harper's main monologues were all delivered very well by mary-louise parker -- i think she does a really good job in the role.

- the original dream sequence between harper and prior has a really interesting set/special effects with these animated statues which is very interesting and i thought that was super cool. it doesnt add anything but i think its neat!

- i thought the visualization of heaven was very interesting, especially in the scene where it's prior with all the continental principalities, because they look so human, it's really beautiful, not in their resemblances to his friends and loved ones but in the way theyre dressed and in this shattered, greco-romanesque temple... yeah. very powerful. i could write more abt that but ill leave it there for now.

- the final monologue was done very well!

and in terms of what i don't like, mostly focusing around line delivery

- a lot of the line delivery, particularly from justin kirk (who plays prior) falls weirdly flat/awkward/off in a way that tends to kill the comedic nature of his funnier lines. while this doesn't seem like a huge issue because his character is much more than just comedic, it can make some of his scenes seem much, much sadder, which might appeal to some, i suppose - but i always have read and seen strength in prior's character. to me, despite the immense suffering and struggle he goes through, he is still incredibly strong, and exuberant, and bright, and funny! and i feel like that was lost.

- it also kills a lot of the cadence of his more emotional lines, somehow.

- also in terms of prior, i really feel like justin kirk's take on him seemed to specifically want to avoid being feminine/flamboyant, but prior is literally written that way.that is so much of the basis of his character. i don't know if it was a purposeful interpretation from justin kirk (trying to add his own spin on the role?) or maybe he was trying to avoid being too "stereotypical" (which i have problems with to say the least) or maybe he was just afraid of being too gay because he's straight (i don't know him, obviously, and that seems like an odd reason, thats all speculation.)

- i also feel like justin kirk's monologues - particularly the argument with louis (he asks if he's really bruised inside) and the more life monologue both fell super flat for me. they didn't feel supercharged with emotion, or drama, and maybe it's just the theatre-film switch that isn't clicking for me, but it feels very underwhelming and lacking.

- altogether there were moments i asked myself if these characters were able to be properly translated from theatre-film, and i still feel mixed on that. i think there is something to be said about how much they shine from the simplicity of theatre.

- i really didn't get anything from the actor who played belize. (jeffrey wright). i feel like he had little chemistry, and i really felt attached to their friendship and i feel like that's so lost here in a way that i felt really bummed out by. i also feel like Nathan stewart-jarret's belize has a beauty, sass, and flair to him that is just so delightfully loveable and also fits the character more. (the scene between him and joe in the courthouse did not feel the same at all in terms of comedy.) however, jeffrey wright did do a decent job with belize's main monologues (particularly his monologue to louis about America), but i really just was disappointed altogether as belize is one of my favorite characters.

- the depiction of the angel was ... mixed for me. she is depicted in all white, and a very greco-roman sort of robing in millennium, while in the play she's much grittier, dirtier, which in my opinion speaks much more to both the tone of the play and to this visualization of her as the principality of America. shes also much scarier in the play. i feel like shes a little too... sexy? traditional? but more on that some other time.

- also the sex scene between prior and the angel is just. its sure something. wasnt so crazy about that. its not even like good campy its just... its something! thats for sure.

- patrick wilson's realization of joe pitt is so lacking, lacking the emotion, the deep internalized homophobia, the pain, the anguish. russell tovey brings this much deeper, beautiful energy to him that is far more emotional that is far more personable to me.

- also, the scene where joe punches louis feels much more violent in the hbo adaption. he literally hits him and kicks him while hes lying on the ground, which followed up by the "ive never hit anyone before" really shifts the tone from mistaken backlash to something that feels really violent and hard to watch.

anyway, i have more thoughts dinging around in my head but this is getting dangerously long. altogether, i would say the comedy of the angels theatrical adaption is in many ways lost to the hbo series, which changes the tone (especially in priors scenes). i think angels walks the line between hopeful and painful, and in dealing with such tough topics the balance between humor and brightness and the awfulness of the subject material has to be carefully maintained, and thats not really kept here. i think that changes both the impactfulness of the emotional and sadder portions and changes how priors character comes across..

i really didnt hate it, and i think it had some really interesting parts. i think its worth a watch if you're an angels fan, but be prepared for a different experience, in my opinion. altogether, i think it just reminded me how much of a gem the theatrical production was.

Of course i can make some headcanons! And don't worry about asking often, i like it! Asks are always what i look forward too the whole day!

Ticci toby's relationship with the pastas + a few headcanons:

Even if toby has a lot of crackhead energy and seems hyper and happy a lot.

It doesn't mean he doesnt get sad or serious, or just overwhelmed by things. So the pastas each have their way to help him or comfort thing

Also just because toby find comfort or looks for comfort in others, it doesn't mean he's immature or the others are just being pitiful, it's just them being friends and understanding each other. Like friends are supposed to be

He isn't enemies with anyone. He has an OK relationship with everyone. He does different things with the others

Jeff: jeff doesn't hang out with him as much sense he's usually with ben, but jeff does hang out with toby when he's gonna pull a prank on someone. Also even if jeff is a bit of a crackhead, he's pretty mature. They are always doing random things but when toby remembers his past (which happens often when he doesn't have something to get his mind off of things) he gets really angry and just needs an outlet. He tries to suppress it but jeff helps him. "There's nothing wrong with being angry!" Jeff likes boxing, so he always encourages toby to use his boxing bag to get out his pent up anger.

Ben: toby likes games with catchy beats and music (kinda like Friday night funkin') or games where he can create things that just comes to his head. So ben lets him play with him a lot, they play minecraft together. Toby can get anxiety attacks (which ben also gets really often). When toby's anxiety attack starts getting worse, he does a lot of things to try and release some of his feelings and to comfort himself, and those things are biting the inside of his mouth, shaking his hands, rocking back and forward, or just repeating words, and usually it can comfort him, but when there is nothing going on to distract him, it doesn't help much, but ben knows that his favorite colorful rhythm games help, so when ben notices that he doesn't feel well, he always offers toby to play with him to distract him.

Jane: jane is like toby's mom. She's always there to comfort him. She defends him when someone is being an asshole to him and knows the signs that he's having a panic attack or when things are too overwhelming for him. Toby doesn't always say right away when something is bothering him so jane always steps in "can you guys tone it down a bit? It's making him uncomfortable!"

Nina: toby's best friend. Nina is always up to do anything with him. I had a headcanon that nina likes playing on claw machines, toby goes out with nina to arcades often. He also goes shopping with her. Toby is also Nina's model for many things. She has put acrylic nails on him, dresses, and even tried makeup on him. Nina likes wearing makeup a lot, so when there's a lipstick she likes but doesn't know if it will look good on her, he always offers himself as the model "nina, can you put stickers on my nails?!?"

Masky: masky actually really cares for him. He's was the one that taught him self defense when Toby first arrived. Toby has night terrors a lot, so masky lets him sleep with him for the night, or stays up with him no matter the hour. Masky was always there to talk and listen when Toby first arrived in the mansion/manor. Also even if masky is easily annoyed by many things, he doesn't get annoyed by toby's repetitive movements or words. He Knows that it helps Toby cope or comfort himself. Sometimes people tell Toby to stop when they see that masky's stressed but masky always says it's fine, it's not toby's fault that he's stressed.

Amelie: they're a mix of friends and siblings (that get along). she knows that Toby is banned from the kitchen (he can't cook and sets the place on fire) but she always lets him join her when she's baking. She lets him taste test and decorate. Toby can be pretty creative so she appreciates the help when it comes to decorating her pastries. Toby has a big sweet tooth and sometimes sweets help him feel better when he doesn't feel ok, so amelie makes him pastries a lot. Also he's the first person to try when she makes something new, which is an honor for him "I'm a professional taste tester, so I'd think twice when questioning my expertise"

Sherry: she hangs out more with ben, jane, and masky but she's ok with being with toby, she can actually relate to him. She doesn't mind his repetitive movements or phrases because she does the same too. She had a bit of help and treatment for her own mental illnesses from her mom (before she died), so she has shared some things with him that helped her cope, and vise versa. She was used to being reserved and "mature" from a young age, so she couldn't really show when she was happy or excited, but Toby showed her it's ok to show it and whenever he noticed she was excited or happy for something, he would do the same and encourage her to express herself

Hoodie: they are drinking buddies (yes Toby drinks, he's in his early twenties, he can do that), hoodie is pretty chill and toby likes that. Sometimes when he just wants to relax, he hangs out with hoodie, they just sit on the roof outside in the woods and drink together.

EJ: they don't have any issues sense they rarely talk. EJ spends most of his time in his room or just doing his own thing around the mansion/manor. The only interaction that they really had was when Toby helped EJ carry a few bodies to his room

Damien: they barely hang out or talk. Damien is usually busy with his weapon business that he rarely goes to the mansion/Manor, Unless it's a personal delivery to slenderman or business deal, that's when he goes there, but usually it's just to see amelie.

Clockwork: best friends. They do everything together. (I don't really get too much into detail sense I already did a post explaining how they get along.

Slenderman: slender was the one to help Toby. Gave him proper treatment, a home, a good support group, and a real family (aka the pastas). Toby is his proxy but slenderman sees him like a son. He always checks up on Toby to see how he's doing and making sure his mental health is alright.

favorite headcanons (and theorys?) of glee that i created

i was thinking if i really was going to write this, but im bored so lets go, this got so long and i am so sorry (not really it was fun and i liked it, if you like big metas you probably gonna like this)

*this can have some triggers for some people because i will be talking about bullying, abandonment, depression and violence*

(also i would like to say that most of this are things that i like to believe happened, and idk if the rest of the fandom agrees or if someone said it before and this is all blaine related, i left it glee on the title because it sounded better idk)

- blaine's dad is filipino and he left after blaine came out

i know that blaine said he was there in shooting stars, but hear me out

first of all, to me his name is tod anderson, dont ask me why it just makes sense and i like how it sounds.... so

in sexy, blaine tells burt that his dad tried many times bonding with him, but apparently that didnt work, because he also says "you think my dad built a car with me because he loves cars? i think he did it because he thought getting my hands dirty might make me straight." and after 4x18, he is never mentioned again? and he wasnt on his son's wedding too

so my theory here is that he never accepted that blaine is gay, and all of his "efforts of bonding" were actually because he thought he could "fix" blaine, and when that didnt worked he left, (that also explains blaine's abandonment issues) but he did came back im the shooting episode because he felt guilty for what he did, but after he saw it was a false alarme he went back on pretending he didnt have a gay son

to be really honest sometimes i pretend that his dad wasnt on the shooting day because i feel that it doesnt fit that well into this and i really like this one because its kinda obvious to me that blaine have daddy issues??? so usually i just put on my character-backstory that blaines dad left after he came out and never came back

for the first year that he was gone, blaine spended every night trying to contact him. sometimes he just texted, but most of the times he called and left a message crying begging him to come back and tell him what he'd done that made his father hate him so much, his dad never called or texted back

- blaine's parents

(im not sure if this is canon but blaine's mom is named pam)

i know that technically i've already talked about blaine's family when i was talking about his dad but that is so complex i felt i had to do a topic exclusive for that

i believe blaine has and always had a good relationship with his mother, yes she was usually gone because she works selling a really famous cosmetic line she created (to me the andersons are a really known name) that would explain how blaine could study in a school like dalton (he said so himself that dalton isnt a school that anyone could afford), and why she is never there

but despite her being busy with her job, she always tried to keep im touch with blaine, texting him, and calling and skyping

blaine always missed her, but he tried to not make her feel guilty about working too much, because she loves her job

sometimes he got really depressed, because he wished she could be there to see him sing with his friends, or just be there so that he could hang out with his mom like all of his friends did with their parents

his das was a businessman, i dont know why it just fits to me, also idk what kind of business because i dont understand any of it so thats up to imagination

before he came out, he and his dad were super close, sure his dad a lot of the time was busy but he was at home more than his mom, his dad was the one that introduced him to liking sports, and they always watched games together (cooper would join in too) and his dad always let him have a sip of his beer, blaine always loved those moments and his dad was like a hero to him, he was sure that coming out to him would be easy, because he would love him no matter what

all of the andersons have always been brodway babys, all 4 of them liked to sing, tod was a little bit more serious and didnt dance around the house like cooper, blaine and pam but he enjoyed seeing them having fun

the andersons were like the perfect family of the neirbourhood, all 4 of them are very good looking, talented and educated so yes everybody thought they were perfect

they all lived in the philippines until blaine was 5, and then moved to ohio because tod got a really good job offer there

after blaine came out, his parents argued A LOT. tod would ask himself and pam of what he had done wrong and pam would say its nobodys fault and thats just how blaine is

(to me that was the time tod was revealed to be an asshole and not long after he divorced pam and stoped talking to all of them, except for cooper, he and cooper still talked)

- blaine's bullying

the bullying blaine went through was a lot like kurt's, people laughing at him, shoving him around, beating him up, etc

he tried putting a brave face through it but he started losing all of his light, even more when all of his complains didnt matter at all

it only got sort of better when he met skylar (thats the kid he went to sadie hawkings with, i read in a fic that was his name and stuck with me so im calling him skylar)

skylar was going through the same thing he was, and one time blaine saw him getting shoved at lockers, and helped him pick up his books and thats were they started talking

maybe they liked each other, they never got to find out because after the bash, skylar never spoke to blaine again

blaine was in a 2 week coma after getting beat up, and the first thing he said when he woke up was "where's my dad" and his mom had to gently tell him his das was not there. that was when blaine realized he actually meant nothing to his dad and that broken him even more

he was bashed about 3 months after his father left him, and for the rest of that school year he was homeschooled by a teacher his mother hired

- blaine joining dalton and the warblers

so, since blaine is a year younger than kurt, in my head goes sorta of like this

he came out when he was 13, that was the time he was bullied, beaten up abandoned and homeschooled, and he joined dalton when he was 14, but to be a warbler he had to be a little older than that, so he had to audition to join (im guessing you dont have to audition to be a warbler, just to have a lead, i mean kurt didnt auditioned, right?) and and trent auditioned together, they became friends and were roomates (dalton is a boarding school DONT @ ME EVERYBODY KNOWS ITS TRUE)

it took blaine a while to take the step to audition, because he was still scared, but wes and david helped him and gave him a little seed of the confidence he pretends to have later on, but when he sang for the warblers for the first time they were all blowed away by how good was his singing voice even if he was only 14

after he felt comfortable in the warblers, he became friends with nick and jeff, and they were a trio of dumbassess, wes and david (usually the most mature of all the warblers) sighed everytime they saw nick, jeff and blaine doing something stupid

trent joined in sometimes but he always had been a really chill dude, and he saw blaine as a older brother (even tho blaine is younger than him)

jeff, nick and blaine pulled pranks on wes and david like hiding stuff from them and act all inocent when they asked if they saw said thing

the warblers had a bet going on how long would it take for kurt and blaine to start dating (and yes all of them shipped klaine, and even after kurt and blaine went to mckinley the warblers still kept hearing about them and seeing them on jacob ben israel's blog)

jeff, nick, trent, wes and david were the only real friends blaine had there

wes and david has already gratuated when the slushie happened, and nick, jeff and trent all apologized to blaine after that (even though they had no idea that was gonna happen) but their friendship was never the same

- blaine and cooper's relationship

as we know, blaine and cooper didnt got very along when blaine was growing up, cooper is 9 years older than blaine, and has always been really hard on him and thaat made blaine really dislike cooper, even tho he really wanted for them to be friends, he always has bitter feelings towards him duo to all of the pressure and expectation he was under because cooper was the oldest, and blaine felt like he had to be just as good or better than him, so he also had a lot A LOT of jealousy

but that started to change after "big brother", when they talk things out, cooper finally realizes how blaine feels, and starts doing his best to be best brother to blaine

they dont become besties immediatly, blaine helps him with his audition (which makes kurt really proud and happy seeing cooper being all excited talking to blaine, while blaine is trying to pretend like hes cool but actually hes just as excited), and they start to talk more and more after that

after finn dies is when they start getting actually close, after the funeral, he calls cooper but dosent say the reason why, he just says that he loves him and that he misses his big brother, they call and talk to each other a lot more after cooper finds out about finn

when cooper has a son, he and blaine teach the little guy how to dance and they play a lot of happy and fun piano songs to him

- the anderhummel family

blaine and burt are actually really close, they both like sports and beer so they watch games together and bet about whos gonna win, burt sorta of became the dad blaine lost, but in a non weird way, because they both agreed that blaine calling burt "dad" after he married kurt was just... weird

finn and blaine played a lot of videogames together, sam and puck played with them too, but when kurt was helping on dinner or more interested in a magazine or trying to convince carole to let him do a makeover on her, finn and blaine played videogames and maybe sometimes gossip about kurt and rachel (after he became besties with sam he did that same thing but hey playing videogames and talking about your s/o is fun!)

carole took care of blaine when he was in the hospital for the eye surgery, and when he was hangover at kurt's after biota she helped him with all the vomiting and headaches and all of that

pam met carole and burt when blaine got slushied, blaine was already like family to the hudson-hummels at that point, so when burt found out what happened he ran to the hospital, (carole was already working there anyway) and thats where they met, it wasnt ideal and all of them wete stressed and worried but they got along pretty well

pam, burt and carole werent really close since pam was usually out working, but the few times they sat down to talk to each other they really liked. pam thinks burt and carole are a sweet couple, that raised two wondeful boys and burt and carole think that pam is a sweet and funny lady, they all exchanged embarassing stories about kurt and blaine (that made them go "MOM DONT TELL THEM THAT" or "DAS STOP I WAS 7")

pam absolutely adores kurt, he was fascinated when he found out she had a line of cosmetics and spended hours talking to her about skincare routines

blaine can always make carole laugh, she thinks hes a sweetheart and usually keeps burt from bursting into the room when the door of kurts bedroom is closed ("i told them already, leave at least 2 inches open, is that really so hard??" "honey, relax they're just watching a movie" "im going in there" "no you're not leave the boys alone")

burt has walked in a few times on klaine making out on the couch and he always makes a joke about it to not make it awkward

burt was thrillled to know he was gonna be a grandpa, and he spoils tracy anderson to OBLIVION (blaine doesnt argues because he sorta of does the same thing)

even after both breakups, burt and blaine had always kept in touch, maybe it wasnt what it used to be when he and kurt were still mad at each other, but once they go back being friends, blaine is a little more comfortable in hangin out with the hudson-family

- blaine's depression in s6

i think is canon thay blaine had depression and anxiety during the whole show, right? it just got worse in s6 because kurt breaking up with him was sort of what pulled the trigger

it begun when his father neglected him, and it only got worse and worse, he was abandoned by his father and sometimes felt like by his mother and brother too, he had anxiety and it got worse after sadie hawkings, then kurt and him broke up for the first time, and he kept bottling it all up until it all reached the boiling point and it all exploded when kurt broke up with him

(side note, i think that when kurt started pulling away from him in s6, it reminded him of his dad pulling away too, his dad tried to bond with him but i feel that as harder blaine tried to make his dad stay, didnt matter and his dad kept pulling away until he was gone, that makes a parallel to s6 breakup, and why blaine was trying so SO hard to make kurt stay, because he had been there before, and he wasnt good enough for his dad, and he really wanted to be good enough for kurt)

so, after they breakup, blaine stays in a cheap hotel, not getting out of bed and feeling empty inside, his phone buzzed a little with missing calls from his friends but at some point the batery died and he just ignored, he only charged after 2 days because he probably had to let people know he's still alive

he went back to the loft in the afternoon, because he knew kurt wouldn't be there, he was going away and leaving nothing behind when kurt showed up, blaine was kinda of embarassed because he was probably stinking and his hair and clothes were a mess

im not sure if they talked at all after the breakup night, but i kinda feel that blaine might have said to kurt something like "you think i'm broken? when are gonna realize the problem here isnt just me? i should have known, everytime things get serious and scary between us you run, you're so afraid of something and honestly i have no idea of what, please just stay away from me" (i dont knooow he was angry and being all cold to kurt and shit i think that happened and maybe thats what made kurt go to therapy)

he got kicked out of nyada because he didnt left his hotel room for anything other than food, and he felt even more lost after receiving the email saying he was no longer a student there, thats when he decided to go back to lima

in lima, he barely left his room, he didnt ate for days and when he wasnt crying he was sleeping, his friends would call, text and sometimes try to visit him but he never texted back, answered the calls or opened the doors for them, sam was the only one that had some success because he was living in lima too and could go to blaine's house more often, sometimes he got lucky and blaine would open the door for him

at first he tried to do pep talks to help his bestie get better, but nothing helped so at one point he just sat there with blaine and did nothing with him, because at least like that he wouldnt be alone

one day blaine felt a little better and started trying to be okay again, it was never easy but he got a job at breadsticks, and even tho he would much rather be in his bed he kept working because at least like that his mind was busy with something

after he started therapy, he still felt empty inside, the world was still sorta of grey to him and he didnt felt like doing anything, so he had to take meds for that, and kept taking them even after kurt cane back (but as blaine was getting better they slowly became less and less needed)

when blaine started working at dalton, he was already in a much better place that he was when he came back, and throughout s6 he was still battling depression, and wasnt always okay, sometimes he would still want to just be alone and dont talk to anybody or do anything, and if that happened when he was surronded with people he would just be more quiet, that sometimes got rachel and kurt's attention, because they're not used to this "new" blaine and when they asked him if he was doing okay he would just say "yeah, im just tired" sam later on explained to them what that usually meant, it meant that blaine needed some alone time because he was draining himself a lot

- blaine at nyada vs blaine at nyu

soooo i have a good theory about this one, at nyada blaine was constantly surronded by people who would probably kill someone to get at the top, to be the best

and was such a competitive place, that ended up being toxic for blaine. i used to think that he didnt fit there because he always was one of the best in show choir and dalton and he was always *that* guy, but now i think he didnt fit there because actually he dosent like competition that much

okay, sure, playful competiton with your friends its fun, show choir competiton is fun, fighting with tina, mercedes, rachel, santana and unique about solos was fun because it was serious but he was with his friends so okay, whatever

but the competition they had at nyada was just SO MUCH, and lets agree nyada is kinda of a toxic place in general, people made fun of kurts face and clothing there, rachel's "friends" ditched her when she lost the diva off to kurt and started kissing up to him, and (im not sure about this one but like 99%) people laughed when blaine lost to kurt at combat's class

my point is, in nyada, people only like you if you do well in classes, there's a lot of lying and backstabbing going on and c'mon blaine pratically grew up like this with cooper

always not good enough, always behind, always made fun of, never being great at anything, so maybe thats why blaine felt so stressed at nyada, and why he gets so insecure in 5x16, seeing kurt being praised and getting all of that attention might have reminded him of the years he and cooper didnt get along so well

he didnt found himself at nyada, mostly he was there because it was said to be the best school and rachel and kurt were there, so great, right?

but i get the feeling that at nyu things were a little lighter, not easier, but lighter, it didnt had so much toxic people, it wasnt a place where it was kill or be killed, people helped each other when needed and yes there was still competition, obviously but (almost) nobody made fun of people for failing

(i said almost there because im sure there was some douchbags there too, they're everywhere, but i hope you got my point)

- blaine's friendships

i am almost done i am so sorry this is so long i've been here for like 2 hours

i have some small headcanons about blaine's friends, because we did NOT get enough of his friendships (im leaving kurt out of this one because maybe one day ill do a meta/hc/theory about klaine....... maybe)

mike and blaine were besties on s3

they both like to dance and sometimes they+brittany would do a dance number together, sometimes for the glee club to see, sometimes only to themselves because thats fun

mike talked with blaine after the its not right but its okay number to see what happened and if he was okay (actually it was mostly blaine just venting about it "AND THEN HE SAID HE WANTED TO MAKE KURTS VOICE HIS RINGTONE I MEAN WHAT THE FUCK????????")

blaine talked to mike about mike's dad because he knew what mike was going through and they both agreed thay family sucks sometimes

after mike graduated he and blaine kept têxtil each other and sometimes sending gifs or videos of dance moves to each other

santana and blaine were actually really good friends

after the glee club found out about what santana's grandmother had done when she came out, when they were alone blaine told santana about his dad, even tho he was afraid she was gonna tell everyone because he doesnt like talking about it, just so that she would know that shes not alone and its not her fault, santana never once teased or told anyone about this, she always sorta of liked him and thought he was nice but that moment she started seeing him as a friend

while preparing for the new directions vs warblers in 3x11, santana tried helping blaine bring out his inner bad boy, she helped him pick his outfit and they planned together the whole performance

(im stealing this one from a post i rebloged i guess a day ago? i didnt found the blog to tag but this is the post) > santana and blaine are friends on facebook, and follow each other on twitter and instagram, and they always spam on each others profiles because they're comfortable to do that with each other

santana kinda sees blaine as a male version of brittany, so she has this need of protecting him (which is kinda why she was super invested in getting him justice for his eye)

speaking of his eye, when he was at home before surgery, santana went there and told that she was gonna make sebastian confess what he'd put on thr slushie, blaine asked her how she knew where she lived but she cut him off, she also came back there after and told him everything, and she and kurt asked him what he wanted to do about it

brittany and blaine really were sunshine twins

they always liked each other, blaine didnt get her at first, but he got used to it

she always talked to him about cats, and what lord tubbington was up to, she tried inviting him to fondue for 2 but he knew that she would ask some really private questions so he always came up with an excuse

after he almost went back to dalton, she (alongside with tina, sam and marley) tried to make him feel as welcome as possible

when she was dating sam, sometimes the three of them would go to her house after school and cuddle in her bed with lord tubbington while watching a movie

when britt was planning their weddings, she asked blaine to try up some suits (with the excuse that she wasnt sure the one she picked was right), but she asked him that like a day after he kissed kurt at rachels party so she could tell he was kinda sad and asked him why, he told her and she said it was gonna be okay because their love was magical (it was weird but it did made blaine feel good, so...) she was also the only person he told that

blaine and britt always have ideas like "we should totally put glitter in the entire room to celebrate our wedding aniversary!" kurt and santana shut down the idea at the same time

blamtina were like 3 chaotic brothers

sam and blaine would have a dumb idea that would result in absolute chaos (but funny tho) and tina always plays along with them even if she thinks its a bad idea

the three of them are completely harry potter nerds, sam and blaine are hufflepuffs while tina is a ravenclaw, in a halloween party in s4 they went as the golden trio

after graduation, sam and blaine still skyped tina and told her all about ny, and she would tell them all about her collage

sam kept his promise of sending his imitations to tina and blaine sometimes would call her to vent about a fight he and kurt had

blaine read all of the harry potter books to sam

after sam talked blaine into staying at mckinley, sam and tina would always be with blaine, always talking to him, and spending time with him, thats how the 3 of them got so close

marley and blaine were good friends

when marley joined the new directions, blaine was one of the first to make her feel welcome

when blaine almost left for dalton, she tried make him see that she liked him in the nd too, and would randomly start talking to him so that he wouldnt feel alone

she would rant about jake to him sometimes, like how he wanted to have sex but she wasnt ready, and blaine told her she should do it only when she felt comfortable

after she got suspended, he apologized for yelling at her because of the performance, and remembered mr schue that she was recovering from an eating desorder and that he shouldnt be so hard at her

unique and blaine were "frenemies"

they started off not liking each other, since they both wanted it to be the new rachel, even after blaine won, he and unique still were kinda competitive with each other

but eventually they became sort-of-friends, they sang together sometimes when no one else was there, and they liked to pretend to not like each other but yes they did and it was just their thing

sometimes marley would do a sleepover and she would call blaine, unique and tina, while marley was talking about jake or tina was talking about missing mike, blaine would braid unique's wig and she would try to convince him to let her see his hair without gel

when the whole plot of unique and the bathroom happened, when mr schue told everyone he couldnt give up twerking, blaine stood up for unique saying that wasnt fair and mr schue should try harder to help her, he also held her hand (alongside with marley) when she was scared of having to go to the bathroom again

blaine and mercedes talked to each other more than twice :O

mercedes and blaine LIVED together people, she used to be kurts best friend, and sams girlfriend are you telling me they barely talked to each other? no

in fact, they really like each other's company, blaine is kinda of a goofball and mercedes thinks its funny

difficulty with adoption (because of ben’s record) hcs

okay yes absolutely bc i desperately want them to have this convo (as much as im aware they couldn't adopt and like they both probably know that)

i think it's something that they've both thought about, definitely. i think they both want more kids, partly because they both come from fairly big families (yes i count the carters for callum) and partly because i think they'd want lexi to have siblings. because like, as much as they both find their families annoying like most of the time, they both have seen the benefits of having siblings (because stuart protecting callum, and ben is clearly close to people like louise, denny etc) so i think they definitely would want lexi to experience that. also like they know how badly lexi wants a sibling because she literally never shuts up about it lmao

and okay so for whatever reason in this scenario they don't know that bens record will be a problem (callum does know about his record and shit, they've definitely had that conversation) but when kids get brought up it's kind of something they talk about because they both like the idea of adopting, because they both know what it's like to have a shitty childhood. they both know the kind of effect that that can have on a person, and both of them want to do something to protect a kid (or a few kids) from that.

i can see callum really loving the idea of fostering. like mainly because he just wants to help people, and even if these kids are only with them for a week or a month he'd want to take care of them, make sure that they know they're loved. because thats what hes good at, taking care of people, and because i think he thinks about his own childhood with that, and the kind of difference it would have made for him if someone had just been there when he needed them, if he'd just had that reminder. obviously he partly had that with stuart but i think there's a lot about him leaving for sometimes days on end when callum was older and stuff. and i think that plays into it too - callum understood what it felt like to have that care ripped away like that. so really he just wants to be some kind of temporary stability for these kids, and do whatever he can to make sure that they feel loved.

(also i just,,, adore the idea of callum making their house like a perfect place for foster kids, like them moving a little more out of central london and getting a bigger place with a few spare bedrooms which he and ben and lexi decorate, and like whenever there's new kids coming he always makes them these little like care packages, and like they have movie nights and aaaaaaa)

i think ben would possibly lean more towards adopting, while also definitely understanding why callum wants to foster. i think he'd be more enclined to be able to offer some stability for a kid, a safe and permanent home because that's something he didn't really have (with phil getting married and remarried, kathy leaving etc) and he definitely understands the importance of that for a kid. and i think there's also some guilt from lexis upbringing that plays into that. just because of like, not being there when she was a baby, and being like in and out of her life. and of course now he's in her life for good but i think it's something he still kinda feels guilty about sometimes, so i think he'd kinda be more tempted to adopt to kind of 'make up' for that if that makes sense? but like he'd definitely be up for fostering if only because he can see just how happy the idea makes callum

(they have a convo about it and callum just lights up at the idea of fostering and like talking about all the nice things he'd do for the kids and stuff like that and ben is just,,, ridiculously in love)

so it's devastating when they get told they can't, especially for ben

they don't sit down and talk about it for a while, because they're both avoiding it. they're both obviously devastated, ben's blaming himself and callum doesnt know what to do because theres no taking away ben's record.

they don't sit down until callums had enough, clears out the house and tells ben that they're having date night and ambushes him with nice food and about a thousand pamphlets of surrogacy and stuff

and ben tries to run away because he's convinced himself that this is it for callum, that it's the final nail in the coffin that he's just been waiting for because it feels like life with a man like callum could never have lasted forever for him.

but the first thing callum says is i don't blame you and ben just stops still where he's stood because of all the things he'd been expecting callum to say that wasn't one of them

so he turns around and just says callum don't-

no, ben. it ain't your fault, and i don't blame you. it's just the way things are. i love you, and that's all that matters to me, more than anything else. cause its me and you, ain't it? against the world.

ben's crying already but he's trying to hold it back and he just says why? why, when you could have so much better?

Tldr john fucking Somehow is able t oget into contact with a certain curious scientist from another reality who’d just love to study the Soy Sauce, most certainly not for her own nefarious purposes

John and Dave meet up with the scientist, her name is Boss, and her lab assistant, Toxic, and after a bit of a preliminary Vibe Check where john determines her trustworthy (which Dave doesnt agree with,) the two agree to be taken to the world UVP is set in. from there they stay in Boss’s lab (big old fucking abandoned military lab). John and Toxic are fast friends due to mutual love-of-chaos. John n Dave get to fuckin, camp out on an air mattress.

The day after they arrive, the two get split up, not exactly intentionally; big plot points of UVP are liek. Fueled by Boss sending Toxic to go fetch her “research materials,” which are usually important artifacts

Fuckin side note i guess i have to explain my dumb bullshit: Boss’s, uh, field of expertise so to speak is actually fckin, basically the scientific study of magic and superpowers n shit like that. This shit’s all real in that world. Toxic’s got fuckin superpowers, so do 4 other main characters, whatever. It’s got a bit to do with spirituality, iss Boss’s hypothesis. So she has Toxic fetch important artifacts that might have “energies” to them. The thing is actually way more fuckin complictated than that, this is just Boss’s initial hypothesis.

Motherfucking anyways. So Boss gives Toxic a job to do, and John get excited about how Cool that sounds, and ends up going with Toxic, leaving Boss and Dave alone. Neither is thrilled about this. But Dave and Boss get to have a bit of conversation (while Toxic and John are off bonding and having a good time) and come to a… mutual grudging understanding of some kind. They still dont like each other though lmao

Theres gonna be deeper shit going on but we havent sorted it out yet/tbh havent like Written For It in a while but i still like thinking about it a lot lol

Quick briefing on my fuckinuh. Original character story, this one doesnt have a name (yet? Idk lol my work never actually goes anywhere sso who gives a shit). It centers around two grim reapers, Red (26, bi woman) and Blue (22, aroace agender asshole). In this reality or whatever, grim reapers function kind of like low-level office workers. They get told who’s going to die + when by some middle-management types, and upper management only involve themselves when punishment needs to be doled out. These Higher-Ups can be seen as analogous to Korrok; they’re decidedly not human, never were, and fucking terrifyingly powerful. Additionally, grim reapers are sort of .. designed to be “background noise” people. In reality theyre supernatural beings and, uh, look Real Fuckin Weird (the whole deal has a neon aesthetic im terrible at drawing uwu) but most humans just perceive them like extras in a movie. A body’s there but the camera’s not focused on it.

To the narrative: the shit starts when Red n Blue get relocated to Undisclosed. Relocation is something that just happens every now and then to reapers; they usually work in teams, but they get split up into different cities to avoid any strong bonds forming (a counter-union strategy from the Higher-Ups).

Red, Blue, John and Dave end up running into each other for the first time in a McDonalds where John n Dave are getting some 4am “hey, we just survived another horrific monster fight” celebration burgers. John and Dave are the only two people who can see how… strange Red and Blue are. Nobody else notices.

John unintentionally pisses Blue off, leading to Blue whacking him upside the head with a dildo bat. They all four get kicked out of McDonald’s. Dave and Red both are less than thrilled

Blue and John end up resolving their differences, somehow. Red and Dave briefly bond over their dumbass best friends being, well, dumbasses. They all part ways amicably.

somehow-or-other (idk yet) they end up running into each other a few more times, and eventually john invites them over to his place, and the four (plus Amy now!) get to know each other a little better

while there, Blue gets a text about some guy who's gonna die and John offers to drive them to where that's gonna go down. they take him up on the offer and get to have a bit of one-on-one conversation

after that ordeal though Blue has had Enough of people and bails, leaving John to head home alone

theres a sort of mirror-development going on with the five of em. Red, John, and Amy would all like everyone to get along, though theyre a bit tentative about it (John moreso than the other two, actually, jsut cause. well Red n Blue could still be Sauce Monsters). Dave and Blue on the other hand do Not like people enough for this shit, and Dave's not unconvinced theyre Sauce Monsters. he will not trust them until proven he should

the story's kinda nebulous but i got an idea for some Shit going down that involves both Sauce Monsters and also the Higher-Ups to have some fuckin absolute chaos go down.

Ive actually workshopped this one both with ben (catgirlrepublic) and ghost (ghost-wannabe) lmao its a fun lil concept ive had from the get-go cause i mean. What’s an internet tran gonna do other than hit all their favourite media with the Everyone’s Trans beam

Dave transitioned post-high school and faked his death for it. People go missing in Undisclosed all the damned time, after all. He moved to the next city over, transitioned fully, then came back as a completely new man. Yes i know this doesnt exactly fit with the “everyone knows David from high school” thing alright, hush.

Anytime anyone brings up John’s old best friend (pre-transition Dave) John throws an entire fit like an overdramatic grieving widow. Full-on sobbing “why would you bring her up?! I miss her so much—” to the point that people just stop bringing up because Jesus Christ That Sure Is Uncomfortable KJHGFDS.

This is a scheme he and Dave came up with prior to Dave leaving, though Dave hadnt exactly anticipated John putting on this much of a performance about it— but it’s stopped Dave from ever having tto hear his deadname again, so hey.

Amy transitioned sometime in middle school/early high school. Her family was super supportive and loved her a ton and most people just know her as Amy. she was super shy her whole life really so. Yeah. people just dont think to bring it up lmao also i Feel Like big jim would absolutely wallop anyone who gave her trouble of any kind

John’s nonbinary (genderfluid specifically) and not exactly Interested in transitioning ? like hes fine with how he is. mostly.

he came out to Dave in high school but hes not out to anyone else exactly. Maybe his bandmates. Probably any other trans person in Undisclosed knows, too, cause theyre safe to tell lmao. Johns mostly a “he/him out of convenience” kinda nb who’s cool with any pronouns but does prefer they/them most. Dave and Amy use they/them when the trio are alone

Also this is a totally self-indulgent caveat that i think would be great, Dave’s actually agender but because he's transmasc and transitioned when he thought there were really only two options, and being Boy at least felt less weird than being Girl, he just kind of assumed he was a dude. It’s only through a lot of (like fucking years and years hes probably in his 30s/40s when he puts 2 and 2 together on this one) talks about gender with John that he realizes he actually feels like No Gender. Masc aesthetic with none gender.

Also Amy came out to Dave about being trans early on in them seeing each other and his response was to get very nervous before blurting out “me too” and then just being too embarrassed to talk about it for the rest of the day. by contrast when Amy comes out to John about it his response is to yell “EYYY ME TOO” and give her a big ol hug lmao

He definitely had the same kind of deal with the soy sauce as in canon— he was at some kind of party, somebody offered it, he took it cause why the fuck wouldnt he, now he can see monsters and shit

He runs into Dave when they happen to just, cross paths in the same town. the bullshit John stirs up ends up involving Dave in a way that makes it seem like it's his fault too, and they both get run out of town

after that he just tags along after Dave. hes decided this guy's Cool he wants to stick around. Dave is pissed at first, but not enough to shoot him or anything, and eventually, John grows on him

Dave

Dave also is a loner but unlike John hes simply so fucking awkward and bad with people. He doesnt feel like he belongs anywhere so he just travels

He’s the stereotypical Lone Ranger tbh. He wanders from town to town, solving their problems, though hed deny its out of any moral obligation (it kinda is, a little bit, tbh. He does like feeling useful). He shows up, fixes things, leaves. He's kind of a legend but most people think he's hiding something dark. other people jsut know him as that guy who farted real loud in the middle of the saloon and promptly skipped town out of sheer embarrassment. you know how it goes with Dave

He ends up involved with the Soy Sauce when a snake (not Actually a snake,) bites him. The snake’s more like the wig-monsters, really. Anyway, it injects him with the soy sauce, he fucking trips balls in the middle of the desert, he can see monsters now

He runs into John and shit goes tits-up, as said, but they become traveling buddies after that. he'd never say so, but he's glad for the company, actually. it's nice. hes not used to companionship but he feels a strange kind of easiness hanging out with John....

not sure how the Monster Dave concept will like fit in to this reality but like. trust me i want it in here. I'll Figure It Out.

Amy’s been living in a town John and Dave end up passing through and she is very curious about these two new Handsome Strangers who claim to fight monsters and just kinda. Persistently tags along til they let her join for real

Her family’s all dead, unfortunately, just like in canon, and she’s been living alone for a few years before meeting John n Dave. she had nothing left in that town to stay for, she'd been fantasizing about escaping on wild adventures for a long time and this felt a little like a dream come true. (Dave still gives her a spiel about how Difficult it is, but really, her fantasies were pretty grounded-in-reality already. i jsut think thats how she is, yknow?)

Shes the first person to react to the whole “we see monsters” shit with a kind of “oh, okay. neat” kind of response lmao

John and Dave fix whatever the fuck is up with her town (maybe that’s where the Korrok shit can fit, who knows) and Amy ends up being integral to that. After, she insists they take her with them because “they need her now” and Dave just cant really say no. John too is very much "the more the merrier!" and hes actually glad to have another person along he loves people lmao

At the start she has long hair but after she joins them she chops it short with a knife for convenience

Tony inherits Stark clan from dad

Changes it from a gun running gang to more of a Robin hood/ anti-hero group that helps those in need but doesnt like the government

They basically take out other gangs but no one knows that outside. They just are feared

Tony runs it with Pepper and Rhodes as his closest gang members, also being highest up only next to Tony

Tony ratted out all poo people (like his Uncle Obie) and turned the gang solid and everyone is incredibly loyal to him

He makes sure no one whose under his name goes hungry or doesnt have shelter

He's known to randomly "adopt" homeless kids and take them in

(Uncle Ben was a civilian casualty of a rival gang when Tony's group had found them and Tony immediately took in May and Peter)

(MJ was homeless when Tony found her and Tony managed to convince her that he wasnt gonna take her and sell her into the sex industry. she's now super protective of him and is very "fuck the man" about gov)

(Tony found Harley literally in an alley outside of a strip club when he was like 5 and immediately offered him and his mom a better life. Harley is also super protective of him)

Steve comes to him as a last resort cause he lost Bucky

He was military with Sam and Clint and Bucky when Bucky went AWOL and he tried to find him but eventually the government called it and wouldnt let him so he deserted and Clint and Sam followed

Natasha became a friend of theirs during their trips to try and find Bucky, Clint stumbled upon her sniper spot and after a fist fight they became fast friends and soon she joined the group

Steve comes into a meeting with Tony and Tony is like "So what do you need? Anyone who sees me needs something."

He has a total facade of being a tough badass for the face of the gang.

He was kidnapped by the 10 rings at one point and got a reputation for having single handled built a death machine in the middle of the desert and wiped out almost a whole gang on his own, which boosted their reputation considerably

Steve explains and Tony is like "hmmm I'm not for hire you know." And Steve convinces him, but mainly because Steve says he will do anything and Tony was already looking into Hydra and he had a feeling about Steve

Then Steve's whole group found out he basically sold himself to the Stark Gang and said they wouldnt let him do it alone

Tony is shocked but not much and knows almost everything about Steve's whole group the second they stepped into the room with him

why ben solo deserved better

You may think Ben Solo did not deserve mercy, but let's all remember this is a FICTIONAL universe and fictional characters. It's ok to indulge in wishful thinking, even if Ben would not be received with welcome arms on Earth even after his redemption. Dealing with a complicated character like that and trying to find a way to give him a future in the story is hard, I will admit. It's hard to know where someone's role in society is after they've betrayed and murdered since our answer usually ends in their execution or incarceration. But imagine an ending where Ben Solo is willing to answer for his crimes, Rey contends for him, and the future of the galaxy has hope. What we were given was NOT hope. Ben Solo simply deserved a better ending than he was given. He wasn't a soulless monster like Palpatine. He had remorse. He hesitated. His anger was fueled by his mistreatment and feelings of abandonment from his family. Comment below and tell me why/why not Ben Solo deserved a better ending. Even if you don't agree, do you think his abrupt death was satisfying?

I agree with a lot of your points. He 100% should have survived and it doesn't make any sense to me that they killed him off. Ben should have been given a chance to live and atone, he could've spent the rest of his life being a better man, despite other people scorning him at first. Ben and Rey are so powerful - they are stronger together and could've helped so many people in the galaxy. Surely there would still be pockets of the First Order out there - or whole planets of innocent people still enslaved that need their help. ( I have to point out that it was never clarified how many people knew kylo ren was ben solo and its quite likely that  only a small group knew ben was kylo ren so you wouldnt even need to consider the galaxy at wholes reaction for they could just claim kylo ren was dead while ben solo was still alive  (people didnt know anakin was vader for years )   and poe in resistance reborn talked about ex imperials atoning for their actions so  poe and the people who knew ben was kylo ren would be willing to accept ben   coming back and atoning for his  actions  . no prison  or exile  he would ahve a happy ending  with rey on naboo the place where anakin and padme would have raised luke and leia anidala being torn apart was the original sin  ) ( I am sick and tired of redemption equals death it sends the message that if you mess  up and go down the wrong path the only out is death that the most you can expect is finding a cause to die for its bs the notion that he had to die is bs

Western story writers and directors are too set on the idea of redemption of villains through death, it's an unhealthy all too common message I don't agree with, Vader's sacrifice meant something because he saved his son, but what about Leia? What does her sacrifice mean? Why is the final shot just a lone Rey in the desert with a robot? I'll never understand these decisions, it just doesn't work.

The whole Rey replaces Ben in the Skywalker line is just disgusting. Ben was "bad" so he didn't deserve the name but Rey is perfectly "good" so she does? Kids, if you ever do anything bad watch out because your family will find a good kid, replace you, and act like you never existed. Love Disney for that message.

. There’s a clear reverse Anakin/Padme thing going on for me as is. I just think they could have gone for that full reversal, where Ben lives instead of dies like Anakin essentially did when he became Vader. And then I’m always reminded of how little Ani wanted to “free the slaves” ... and while he didn’t have to take that literal route, atonement, or working to break broken systems, would have been a wonderful close to that part of the story as well. I thought it would be nice to tie his and Finn’s stories together a little in that regard.

I don't think they ever understood what they had story wise or character wise.  I don't think they ever knew what message these movies were supposed to have. TROS kept making strange story decisions without thinking through their implications.  With regard to Ben Solo, they give us two fake deaths after multiple characters sacrificed themselves for him, then kill him off for real.  That's the kind nonsense you find in the D-grade movies mocked on MST3K, not a Star Wars film.  Worse yet, they offer the audience no catharsis for Ben's death.  It happens suddenly; Rey had already given her "life force" to both the giant snake and Kylo/Ben and she's fine.  So the audience doesn't expect Ben to die when he gives his "life force" to her.  Then after his sudden death, he's not mourned.  Rey barely reacts.  He's not mentioned and his sacrifice is never discussed.  Then we don't even see his Force ghost.  The air got sucked out of the movie and it just ends with a thud.  It's like if Titanic had ended with Rose saying, "Oh well, I guess I'll just marry Cal" and it's "The End."

Ben Solo definitely deserved better & I truly thought we would get a happily ever after, a reversal of Anakin & Padme’s fate. I also thought the stormtroopers would side with the Resistance & that the reason Leia’s allies didn’t respond at the end of TLJ was because most were disguised as stormtroopers & mingled among the First Order. 🤡  I think the Skywalker saga has ended but the Solo saga will continue. 🤞🏻 The majority of fans LOVE Kylo/Ben and that’s a fact. The general audience loved & rooted for him without ever knowing his heartbreaking backstory & that he had been targeted by Palpatine from conception. Let’s hope Disney/Lf has an ace up their sleeve.

I actually thought Ben was going to live because JJ kept marketing the film as being happy, uplifting, hopeful, and Ben's arc being "fun." In 2015 he called Star Wars a "fairytale."  I had been waiting for Ben to reunite with his mother since 2015 & since 2017 to end up with Rey. Neither really happens because Ben dies, thus turning Star Wars into a tragedy that pretends it's not. We didn't even get a mother/som forceghost visual reunion as a "consolation prize". I was so sure we'd get an actual living redemption arc because I thought forgiveness and the healing of the family was their intention , but nope, just a complete annihilation of the Skywalker family. I left IX feeling depressed for all of Christmas break. ...And don't even get me started on the retcon of TLJ's Rey Nobody background setup and theme.Show less

You have to ask yourself this when thinking of Ben and Anakin. If Anakin fell to the dark side because he had an unhealthy selfish love for Padme but Ben rose from the dark side because he had a healthy selfless love for Rey. What message does it send to have both characters have the same fate when it comes to being with the women they love? (Split apart) What's the point of the saga if nothing anyone does means anything? JJ and Chris failed to ask themselves these important questions.

the theme of the original trilogy was love, hope, family, forgiveness, redemption 

lucas described the star wars as a space fairy tale soap opera    about love, family , hope forgiveness, redemption  the skywalker saga is a family saga about the skywalker family killing off ben breaks that for it ends the saga in tragedy where every last skywalker has died   the line has ended palpatine won bens abusers won

watched the final episode of umbrella academy and (ok i started out attempting to vague but whatever, spoilers ahoy):

- luther is the only character of whom my opinion has only gone down - was very fond of him at the start but OMG dude you have made THE WORST decisions and i dont think you realise how much the apocalypse was caused almost entirely by you, or at least could have been entirely averted if you alone had simply reacted differently - also i still have no idea what his original powers were??? why ‘spaceboy’??? he was only on the moon and had his whole serum thing very recently so what the heck?? i ASSUME this will come up in s2 now theyre i guess back in time and kids again. but is there a reason he was made the leader besides being the tallest? it doesnt make any sense and i wish all of the others had overruled him last episode. but even though he has developed into someone who annoys me very much i find his motivations and plot and tragic himbo-ness and backstory interesting, so.

- diego still annoys me because his entire character arc STILL hinges on the fridging of his ex + angst over not being the leader, both of which are deeply boring motivations, but at least the ensuing development has in fact made him slightly less annoying than at the start. so hes kind of the opposite of luther. i hope he does literally anything interesting next season. 

- number 5 is generally interesting if not likeable but his thing with dolores still makes little to no sense to me; i guess because it’s still unclear why that happened in the first place - it was making sense as a type of ‘i am legend’ thing where after MANY years of being lonely and traumatised he projected onto her. but when it was revealed he started carrying her around basically from day 1???? when he was still ACTUALLY a kid too????? idk i guess it could make sense but i dont think any effort went into MAKING it make sense, so it just clashes with the sense i had previously made of it, but doesn’t offer any explanation to patch up the clash. i can only hope it comes up in future seasons but frankly i don’t think it’s actually interesting enough to warrant that, and also whatever there was of it seems to have already been wrapped up, so bringing it up again might be weird.

- i still hugely love klaus and vanya and allison. dont have much commentary about them bc mostly im just like ‘yes love this, love you’

- i guess re allison i seriously thought she died in that fateful episode but luckily no and she seems to be doing the best at recognising her TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE mistakes and trying to learn and do better, which is incredible compared to everyone else, and i only wish they (LUTHER ESP) had listened

- i guess also i think the pacing and exposition about klaus’ time travel affair was still a tad weird but if he instantly met dave and fell in love and instantly decided to stay for him then that makes sense, and then upon death of dave was like ‘i’m out!!!!! time travel sucks!!!!!’, ok. probably that’s the obvious way it’s supposed to be read. i’m just surprised that he would turn up in such a terrible place and not instantly leave and feel like the observation of how much it sucked would have happened much faster than the falling in love.

- also thrilled for more ben !!!!!

- only mildly sad about pogo bc i was quite sick of him just going around looking sad about it every time he admits to knowing full well all of the terrible things that happened and going along with it. huge bummer i guess and a terrible way to go but also YOU ALONE have had all the information and a long time to process and deal and decide what to do with it. so if someone is going to be killed vengefully he does seem the most appropriate i guess. i can appreciate he’s got unrevealed backstory (although i’m not hugely interested in how he got to be how he is) and obviously feels indebted to terrible dad but yknow what, that doesn’t make up for anything. anyway now we’re back in time we’ll encounter him again and probably undo his death and deal with some of this stuff?????????????

- speaking of i SUPER hope that nobody is like ‘hey terrible dad was right about several things therefore his actions were justified!!’ i mean it makes sense for someone to have that take and there to be conflict and interesting narrative about it but i’m going to super judge the people who take that side (LUTHER, FIVE, LOOKING AT YOU BOZOS) esp for vanyas sake

- a little bit surprised at how quickly leonard left the plot, and to a lesser extent his massive shortsightedness. i wonder if he’ll come back. i guess like dolores i feel like that was wrapped up, but maybe to a lesser extent; i would be less surprised if he came up again anyway. ehhh.

- surprised by how much i liked hazel and cha cha too. i wish cha cha’s character was a little bit more expounded upon??? she was kind of just terrible the whole time and never given any particularly compelling motivations or interests but still there was just enough dynamic between them that i got interested, and even so i wouldn’t have cared except that hazel got just enough characterisation OUTSIDE of the dynamic. i love agnes and i hope she copes ok with her life after this. i hope hazel doesn’t kill anyone anymore; he did seem to enjoy it; but his interest in mundanity and in agnes seemed genuine and compelling enough for me so i’m willing to suspend any remaining disbelief and hope that they got somewhere safe and happy and are happy together forever and no more violence and murder.

- the handler bores me deeply and i’ve never played any fallout games but she just makes me think of them. i like the surreal elements of that whole org existing and whatever but i get quite bugged by things like ON WHAT BASIS do they decide what is ‘the timeline’ to preserve. it’s the kind of thing that is annoying because if it is examined too closely it won’t make any sense at all; it has to be left just unexamined enough that you can put up with it and suspend your disbelief; and i have been trying my best but still. i’m even accepting rewriteable time for this plot, come on, im doing my best. i just want to know, if time clearly CAN be rewritten, WHY it shouldn’t, and what is their investment in making it NOT. besides, you know, Having Some Baddies To Fight, and the necessity of the world at least mostly resembling our own for the sake of the story being comprehensible.

anyway ultimately quite liking this show!!!

some random klaus / dave / klave smut and affection and angsty hcs (as of: 8/25/20)
