First Favourite Character
So this is my blog, where I shall ramble about my fav characters. Isn't that fantastic? And I figured I should start with the most famous viddy game franchise of all.
Tumblr media
Tetris Super Mario! Mario has a sheer ocean amount of characters, through the platformers, kart racers, party games, RPGs, there's a million bajillion nerds to choose from. So is it the Brothers themselves I love? Princesses? Koopas? Or is it...
Tumblr media
WARIO!
The big bad German/Italian/Something Anti-Mario. Super Capatalist Fucker. sigma male. I've loved Wario since day 1. My first Mario game was Super Mario Land 2, the game Wario debuted in (and it came out in Europe the month after I was born, so like, I was a newborn baby with Wario in my life. (the game boy was my parents, not mine originally)). Like, I didn't even know who the fuck Bowser was, or Luigi. When I was a wee bitch, I knew Mario, Wario, and the three fucking pigs who ruined my life in Mario Zone.
Tumblr media
We also, at some point, got the first Wario Land game, and I liked the heavier, stronger style of gameplay, and the treasure hunting aspect. The collecting of coins gave the same "yes" feeling as collecting the rings in the Snoic. And the world evolving as you go through the game made it so cool. The tide coming in after finishing world 1, so early levels now are flooded, MT Teapot's lit crashing down and changing some of it's levels layout. And most importantly, Wario with his evil crosseyed grin, a fucking bastard of a man.
Tumblr media
And to be honest, for a long while, that was it for me and Wario for a long while, I loved these two games, but I never like, played as him in Mario Kart 64 when we got our Nintendo 64, I was always Yoshi. I had borrowed a copy of Wario Blast from a friend once. And when we played on the playground, like, if we played Mario, which we did shut your mouth, I played Wario and just, "Elbow Bashed" everything (I didnt realise til long later it was a Shoulder Bash actually shut up), and doodled fanart of Wario in "Smash Bros 2"(he was just another Mario clone, but with yellow fireballs instead of red)
Anyhow, years later, I got Wario Land 3 from Woolworths, and that unlocked some shit in my brain because from then on, he was my guy. The cartooney transformations, and the way Wario behaved was like, that was the shit, and then Wario Land 4?! I was in, I am in and in for life! I love this cartooney shit!
Tumblr media
Thing is though, again. that was it, I'd now play as him in the Wii games, Strikers, Smash, Kart Wii and Party. But I never played WarioWare until THIS year actually on the GBA Console on Switch. But that doesn't matter. There is SOMETHING about Wario that draws me in, even if I can't afford his own games.
So what do I love? I love an Anti Hero, I love powerhouses, I love selfish agendas (and Wario's love for gold being the drive for all his adventures is selfish AF) and I love hidden hearts of gold, Wario with Shokora shows he isn't entirely selfish, willing to team with others, heck he's got a huge group of friends in Warioware, and even when with the Mario gang, he pals around with Waluigi.
I love that he is allowed to dress up compared to other Mario characters.
Tumblr media
He has so many outfits, this isn't even all of them. I love playing as him in Mario 64 DS, I know he's "The Worst" in the game, but punting goombas to hard it takes like 5 seconds for them to land and die is just a silly little fun. I love he is able to punch the fuck out of Tox in Shifting Sand Land.
I love he's a suer arrogant, rude, brash, super like, macho manly man. An Alpha actually, like, man has women throwing themselves at him, and some men too probs. He's a bitch dickhead, but he draws people in, and bitch like, me too.
Also he has the best cast of characters in the Mario series. Mona? Shokora? Syrup? Jimmy T? fuckit the whole warioware crew? Bonko the CLown or whatever his name is? All iconic!
ALSO! SAKURAI. Mate, bud, I love you, listen, Smash is fantastic, Kirby is superb, Kid Icarus Uprising is yum. But my fucking god, Wario is the WORST repped character in Smash. Like Sonic might have a basic spindash only style moveset, which is a bit boring, but whatever. Wario? We got a shoulder bash and his bike, yup, that's it. And a weird amount of farting, calm it down man.
Also give me a Next Level Games made Wario game, it would be so cool. Listen I know Strikers Charged did the fating rubbish too, but Striekrs 3 showed me they got Wario's character down to a T.
So this is my first post, so I'm figuring out the format of my rambles, it might get more organised in the future, but maybe not, maybe people like the way I write. Who knows.
ANYWAY! RUNNERS UP!
Tumblr media
PRINCESS DAISY- I will be her.
Tumblr media
WALUIGI! Not a meme, he is such a funny, Wacky Races goofy character, Next Level Games puts so much life into his animations in the three Strikers Games, he's a fantastic loser self-pitying dweeb. WAAAA.

While we have still to get any news of a new Wario Land I gotta say, ever since 2018 the series HAS made a bit of a comeback, with how often it's acknowleged and how it informs how Wario is portrayed.
WarioWare really stepped up it's Wario Land reference game, with Gold and GiT both really emphasizing his treasure hunting history and in the latter's case, also his strength, down to having the Shoulder Charge as his main ability.
The games have tons of Land nods on top of that. Both have the Wario Car, the Wario Land inspired Loot Scoot gets a remake in Gold, Wario Land 3 got a microgame in Gold, the Golden Pyramid from Land 4 has a cameo in GIT, Gold has that one call that I'm still convinced it from Captain Syrup and that's not even all.
Smash finally gave the Land cast some love via spirits, even highlighting Shokora on the official website. Additionally, Wario's strength is emphasized more and he even got the Shoulder Charge back, along with a more Ground Pound inspired Down-Throw animation.
Both Tennis and Golf have leaned into the treasure hunter side of him again.
The Shoulder Charge shows up regularly again.
Captain Syrup got a mention in Animal Crossing.
The very Wario Land 3 inspired Dr Mario 64 got a re-release on NSO.
Nintendo is acknowledging Wario Land more again via in-game content like Wario's Shipyard making it to Mario Kart Tour or tweets during the Wario Twitter account takeover.
And now we got the new Mario Strikers, where everything from Wario's walk cycle, the Shoulder Charge and him carrying the ball around, is pure Wario Land.
Despite still being absent, Wario Land has seen a lot of love again and through that, Wario's macho treasure hunter side has resurfaced in a really prominent way.
I for one am very optimistic about Wario's future and Land's eventual return, we are seeing so many positive shifts for Wario, Wario Land will be around the corner eventually.

Super Princess Peach 2 electric boogaloo
What a surprise, and here I thought Peach was a one and done deal but nope, she got a sequel to her game on the 3ds, the problem is it is a Japanese exclusive game. Developed again by Tose and published by Nintendo and released in 2017, I only found out about it by finding a copy in a local swap meet (the power of swap meets ladies and gentlemen). What caught my eye was the back of the box which after translating it says that Peach and other princesses are playable and yeah the box doesn't lie. The other playable princesses are Daisy, Rosalina, Shroob (weird), a Bowsette-like princess but with red hair and tan like skin, Queen Merelda and Princess Shokora (from Wario Land 4), with a secret playable character being Pauline. So let us see if this sequel is worth releasing outside of Japan or should it stay there like Captain Rainbow.
PLOT (no spoilers)   As Mario and Luigi are off to battle against Bowser when suddenly a new baddie comes out of nowhere named Captain Command who takes over Peach's castle and has her take far away from her kingdom. As Peach wakes up in a strange land she then has to go on an odyssey to get back and overthrow the usurper from the Mushroom Kingdom and take back the throne. Along said adventure, you pass by other familiar kingdoms and pass by a few familiar places and faces such as the ones mentioned in the first segment, the reason is Cap. Command took over these kingdoms on his way to become the king of the world.
GAMEPLAY   It is the same for Peach as the previous game the only differences are the genre,  which is a sort of goofy beat 'em up combined with platforming elements, and how the heart works. For one thing, they cost jewels (about 2 jewels) and it is for everyone (I'll explain in a bit) and it only lasts for a few seconds so you can't spam the move since there is a limit on how many jewels you have (which can be upgraded, same with health, in the store to have more but not enough to cheese the game). There is also a playing difference with the other characters from the intro. (Note that Peach is the standard character) There is Daisy, who is a bit faster and a bit stronger than Peach but jumps the same height as her. Then there is Rosalina, who is slower and not as strong as Peach but can jump higher than Peach and can summon a Luma to attack more. Next up, Princess Shroob who is more effective in ranger attacks but sucks at close combat. Coming up is the surprise of Princess Zilla (the Bowsette-like girl) who attacks multiple enemies with her attacks and is decent in single combat. The other one is Princess Shokora, who can transform into a cat, a few weird beasts and Mr.Game&Watch (who I guess is Mrs.Game&Watch but whatever) which can cause some status effects similar to the Wario Land games (ie balloon, get set on fire, etc). Coming up is Queen Merelda who when finishing an attack will drop more coins at the of an attack but is a risk and reward character for being a bit frailer. Finally, there is Pauline who is a bit of a mixed bag, a sort of mid-range close quarters fighter (possibly because of living in the Bronx).
Now, remember the hearts I mentioned, yeah they are completely different. For starters, the orange heart gives you a floaty jump, the red heart makes you stronger, blue heart makes you faster and the green heart gives you more defense, each one lasting about 5 to 7 seconds and costs 2 jewels (you start off with 6 jewels but can upgrade it to 16 jewels) and you can pick up jewels from defeated enemies which can sometimes drop mushrooms at time (the 3 are the normal mushroom which gives you health, the mini mushroom which makes you lose some defense and strength but can jump higher, become faster and find secrets, and the mega mushroom which makes you bigger which can also break certain areas to unlock secrets, stronger and better defense but become slower), the other items are stars, which gives you invincibility, a purple New Donk Coin (which if every coin is collected unlocks New Donk city to unlock Pauline: Note that there is 1 purple coin in all  levels excluding the bosses), and finally Toad, yes Toad, who works as he does in smash where you get a free pass on recieving damage and thus counters the enemy who attacked you.
Likes The beat-em-up aspects of the game are rather addicting, it is fun to combo an enemy and how the combo animations are very goofy yet "ladylike" for a Nintendo Princess, there are also a few mini games (like the previous one) that are ok, but they do help you earn a few figurines and different costumes for each character, and I like the little descriptions  for each character explaining their first appearance.
Dislikes Sometimes the secret areas to get the purple coins is too vague, there are hints but they don't explain it too well, not to mention once you get all the upgrades and figures they still give you a lot of money at the end of a stage but nothing to spend it on, and online play is very very laggy, it's best to play it locally if you can find anyone to play it that is. Also getting a high rank is incredibly hard since the game is very strict on what you did well and gets very stingy with damage taken and time left over, I mostly got C's and B's and the only time I got an AA rank (which isn't the highest rank its Crown) was the first level.
Verdict So is this game worth forking over 40 bucks plus shipping and handling I would say Yes, but... The game is rather fun, hell there is future DLC planned to include a few Zelda princesses like Zelda (duh), Toon Zelda (ok), Ruto, and that one princess from Triforce of Heroes, so anyone in Japanse who bought it must think so but jeez does this game expect perfection to get any higher ranks and I wish there were other ways to use the money you collected but considering how fun it is, I still say it is worth it but If your one to complete games, well good luck with that. Thanks for reading.

As announced on my Twitter, I want to tackle a project where I create a purely Wario Land based Smash moveset, a fully WarioWare based one and one based on Classic Wario (SML2, Mario & Wario, Wario’s Woods), along with a mix of them all to create my personal, ideal Smash Wario.
Land!Wario is up first:
Neutral Special: His Shoulder Charge, which, move slot change aside, functions like in Project M.
Tumblr media
Side Special: Chump Toss. Wario pulls out one of three chumps and throws them:
Most commonly, he will throw a Pirate Goom, who does the least damage and knockback.
Tumblr media
Less common is Arewo Shitain, who is stronger.
Tumblr media
And as his equivalent of Dedede’s Gordos in Brawl, Wario has Merelda, who does the most damage and knockback, but is also the least common of the three.
Tumblr media
Down Special: Wario shakes a coin bag in front of him. It covers him well from the front, but leaves him very exposed from behind. Coins spill out of the bag, but are purely a visual effect.
Tumblr media
Up Special: The Corkscrew Conk from Wario World. It acts similar to his existing Up B, but moves him diagonally forward as well as upwards. That said, it is worse for recovery and better for offensive purposes, then his official Up B.
Tumblr media
Jab: His two-punch & headbutt combo from Wario World.
Tumblr media
Up-Tilt: An upwards punch, resembling his item pick-up animation, like in Smash 2.
Tumblr media
Forward-Tilt: His Brawl/Smash 4 F-Tilt, maybe even with Project M’s addition of letting you charge it.
Tumblr media
Down-Tilt: Wario turns into Flat Wario. Much like in Smash 2.
Tumblr media
Dash Attack: A forward roll, based on his ability to roll down slopes.
Tumblr media
Neutral-Airial: The same as it is in official Smash, though I’d make it resemble the crouch jump from VB Wario Land and Shake It more.
Tumblr media
Forward-Aerial: An original move, where Wario stretches his hands out and bumps his fists with force. It’s most powerful when the fists hit, but the sheer force of it lends it a slight disjoint.
Back-Airial: Wario’s hat turns into the Dragon Hat and spews fire. Wario is knocked backwards a bit when the attack starts.
Tumblr media
Down-Airial: Wario’s signature Ground Pound, which much like Project M, is an equally powerful and risky, spike.
Tumblr media
Up-Aerial: Wario’s hat turns into the Bull Hat and he does an upward headbutt. Similar to K Rool’s U-Air, but less powerful, in exchange of not having the insane endlag.
Tumblr media
Side-Smash: Wario’s charging headbutt from Land 4. The longer Wario charges the move, the farther he goes.
Tumblr media
Down-Smash: The Earthquake Punch from Shake It. Project M covered this already.
Tumblr media
Up-Smash: Wario turns into Bouncy Wario. He jumps decently high, but it requires planning to catch someone with it.
Tumblr media
Pummel: Wario holds his opponent up like in Wario Land (and how Mega Man does it), with his pummel being a violent shake, in reference to Shake It.
Tumblr media
Forward-Throw: The classic throw, which can also be charged like in Project M.
Tumblr media
Back-Throw: The Wild Swing Ding, including Project M’s addition of letting him move around like in World.
Tumblr media
Down-Throw: Wario piledrives his opponent, ala’ Wario World.
Tumblr media
Up-Throw: Wario puts his opponent above him and knocks them upwards with a Boxing Glove Ultra Hand. This references both Genius Wario from MoD and also his occasional association with the Ultra Hand in general.
Tumblr media
Final Smash: Wario summons Shokora, who pelts several of her Item Shop items at Wario’s opponents. Wario can move around and try to knock people into Shokora’s attacks.
Tumblr media
Land!Wario is by far the easiest take on him to develop a moveset for, which is only natural, it is the series where he actively engages in combat on a regular basis after all.
Really, the biggest obstacle was trying to pick between his many, many options. The transformations along could fill up a whole moveset by themselves and I may toy with that myself at some point.
The Final Smash was the one tougher move to think of and I’m happy with what I came up with. There are likely better ways to interpret it’s function, but the idea feels sound, especially with how common ‘’character summons allies’’ Final Smashes are with the newcomers these days.
Next up will be Ware!Wario, look forward to that.

Note
For the character thing: Wario himself, obviously!
favorite thing about them:
I love how layered Wario is. The surface level of what you see of Wario is a good representation of him, but he's full of hidden depths.
He's a jerk, but has people he cares about.
He can be a slob, but also push himself to extreme levels.
He can come off as dense, but is actually really gifted and clever, when he puts his mind into things.
Wario is a major example of ''more then meets the eye'' and it's great.
least favorite thing about them:
His Smash portrayal as is well documented by now.
favorite line
''Have a rotten day!''
brOTP
Waluigi and Jimmy. I really want more Wario & Jimmy interactions.
OTP
Wario x Shokora, their interactions in Land 4's ending are my favorite character moment for Wario and I love the idea of her being someone Wario has a soft spot for and wouldn't scam.
nOTP
Wario x Waluigi. It's usually denied that they are brothers, but the fact that they are made to mirror a set of brothers still makes it pretty yikes to me.
random headcanon
Wario binge drinks garlic flavored Coca Cola. He drinks enough to have gotten a thank you card from the company.
unpopular opinion
I actually prefer his biker outfit. The overalls are classic and I adore Wario Land, but the biker get-up helps to highlight how much Wario has moved away from just being Bad Mario.
song i associate with them
Greenhorn Forest of course!
favorite picture of them

People tend to argue about which version of Shokora can be considered the canon one and there really is no definitive answer.
The shot of her in the newspaper article seen in Land 4′s intro is vague enough to be either of the two best ending versions, but resembles the best ending version the most.
Her official art, which is used in everything from official guides, to her Spirit in Super Smash Bros Ultimate, is based on the second-best ending form.
And lastly, Super Mario Kun rolls with the second-best ending form being used for the newspaper article, while the second-worst ending variant is depicted as the real one, for a joke ending.
