Pretty much no impairment is as simple as abled people think it is.
People are taught to believe that disability is a simple “Can’t”. Can’t walk. Can’t talk. Can’t hear. Can’t see. An ability is just excised and no longer exists, if it ever did.
In reality, it’s rarely that simple.
It’s “I can sort of do x thing sometimes, but I get muscle spasms making it very dangerous or impossible to do it reliably or safely”. Or “I can do x thing but it causes me so much pain I will be unable to do anything else for hours or days after doing it”. Or “I can do x thing but I constantly injure myself doing it because of lack of muscle control”. Or “I can do x thing but so badly I functionally can’t do it two inches beyond my face, but now I have a mobile phone I can put up to my face so I can do it in certain very specific circumstances”.
None of these things mean someone isn’t disabled. And if you think it does, then it’s *your* ideas about disability that need to change.
The reason disabled people end up saying “can’t” when the reality is more complex is because people don’t trust our boundaries. They force us to injure ourselves instead of accommodating, or use energy that means we have none left to do *anything* else we need to do for the rest of the day. Or week. Or month.
Abled people need to start trusting disabled people, or you need to shut up, get out of any situation where you have power over us, and provide someone who will. Those are the only options.
The way we are expected to live in a performative hell of the making of more privileged people who then turn around and criticise us for not suffering in the precise way they have decided we should is genuinely nothing but ridiculous.
Just stop.

Resident evil fans going "I love evil women" when it's Lady Dimitrescu because she's sexualised by the fandom but hating Mia with completely unwarranted vitriol when she's a human who made Mistakes. Do I need to keep saying it.

I keep seeing people on my dash who I KNOW have no ill intent reblogging posts that have a veneer of trans-inclusive feminism without realizing it's gender essentialist trans-inclusive radfem shit. As far as I can tell it's a recent resurgence of the ideology, not something that's stayed constant and I'm only now realizing it, although I'm not certain of that.
So like. Here's a reminder that gender essentialism is bad even when it's trans inclusive. Here's a reminder that "society is inherently about men/mascs oppressing women/fems and the agency and responsibility for that societal structure is always and only perpetuated by the men/mascs" is radfem shit even when it's trans inclusive.
Just because someone's gender essentialism isn't biological gender essentialism doesn't mean it isn't gender essentialism. Just because a post is trans inclusive doesn't mean it's discussing gender identity or societal gender dynamics in a healthy way.
Just because a post is free of transphobia or transmisogyny does not mean it is free of sexism or racism or intersexism or ableism or transandrophobia or exorsexism or homophobia or biphobia or any other kind of bigotry. Just because a post is free of transphobia or transmisogyny does not mean you get to shut off your brain and reblog it uncritically, safe in the knowledge that if it's not transphobic it's a Good Take™.
Pay attention to this shit please you're giving me headaches :)

it's not that white liberal feminists truly believed the hijab is honorable, empowering, and a choice, it's just that they care more about "political correctness" than women's rights
Not only the hijab represents purity culture for the middle eastern/muslim woman but it clearly sexualizes every inch of a woman's body, contrary to popular belief. It imposes that unless a woman is covered, she is inherently sexual. And not just her hair, her arms and her legs, in some cases her feet, her face, her hands, and even her eyes. Even the outline of her body has to be concealed because there is always a man who will find it enticing, and this from the ripe age of 9. No matter how inconvenient it is. Not to forget, women are always to some degree pressured if not forced into this "choice" lest they bring shame to their family. How many arab girls have grown up hearing "You can do whatever you want, just keep a hijab on your head."? How many girls have been scolded, threatened, hit, because they were merely talking to a boy? How many girls were forbidden to go to school, to go out of the house until they abandoned their "westernized ideas" and started "dressing decently"? And how many were killed, charged with prostitution, stoned for not not wearing it?
Now, you want to convince me that libfems, the same group that wants to "free the nipple", thought the hijab was empowering for the last decade? Hell nah.
They just don't care. They don't care because they view middle eastern, brown, and Muslim women as lesser. Our suffering and our objectification are nothing compared to their inconvenience. So why would they even think about it? Why would they upset conservative muslim men and women ? They have been overlooking every honor killing for years now to not make muslims look bad.
Today it's trendy to oppose forced hijab, tomorrow, they'll forget about us.

aye guys just went into the pro-choice tag and holy fucking shit the amount of christian pro-lifers willing to fuck over ppl with uteruses is insane. goddamn such a good thing I didnt throw up in my mouth right then and there.
reblog if you're sick of people telling you what to do with your own fucking body and just want to live your own goddamn life. im sick of being guilt-tripped into wanting to value the 'lives' of an unborn, un-sentient mass of flesh before my own life, a living fucking being with dreams and wishes and feelings and all that good package deal shit that cOMES WITH BEING A FUCKING HUMAN.
do not try to tell me my existence is fucking 'wrong' or 'selfish'. what you're actually trying to do is get me to live in fear of my own body and my own damn life like I always have been. PRO-LIFERS AND ANTI-ABORTION DNI. I WILL BLOCK YOUR ASSES AND THAT IS A GODDAMN PROMISE.

mmmm.....
I don't know if that's a normal thing.
Seriously, just like the like, reblogging doesn't take much time, maybe a milisecond more. Does that really affect your life? Your time? Jfc, reblog people, likes LITERALLY don't help us. Feels good you guys liked it sure, but reblogs help the work get out there.
It's not gonna ruin the goddamn aesthetic of your blog. Don't worry about it.
jfc.
Tumblr should do like an only fans thing, "Reblog in order to unhide." in the keep reading divider.

hi if you ever come across a diabetic whose insulin pump is going wild and annoying you, notify the person and shut the fuck up. They are just as fed up with this bullshit as you are, however it will never end for them. They know well it’s annoying, and they need a goddamn break. Don’t start complaining, don’t start telling them about how much it’s bothering you, just simply notify and move on.
im looking at you non chronic illness or non-diabetics, a few days back i almost lost my cool with a girl for telling me my pump was annoying her

okay. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place.. but I'm a bit sick of the DC fandom when it comes to female characters. I LOVE characters such as Harley, Ivy, Selina, WW, Dinah, Barbara ect, ect, (leaving out characters like steph and a few others because..content? where?) BUT. for as popular as those characters are, I feel like next to their male "counterpart" (best way I can describe it) the amount of love they get pales in comparison. Let me specifically target Harley, Ivy and Selina though.. they are INCREDIBLY well known. Even to people who have never read any DC Comics. So why?? Why is all the content about them hyper sexualized as shit. I mean, obviously I know *why* but still. they're all badass women😭 can people really not stare at more than their tits? I'm losing my mind. I rest my case. DC rant of the day.
