#SILENCE IS COMPLIANCE

I hope no one who supported Israel, I hope no one who said “Israel has the right to defend itself”, I hope no one that stayed silent, I hope no one that stayed neutral, I hope no one who cried “both sides”, I hope no one preaching “nuance”, EVER gets to experience another peaceful day again. I hope every last one of them suffers for the remainder of their lives. I hope the guilt eats at them every single day to the point they can’t take it anymore and they choose to do the world a favour and off themselves. I hope every last one of them pays severely for their crimes and for their support of genocide. I hope their very existence is plagued with nightmares. I hope they experience what it’s like to have never ending bombs rain over their heads.
Whatever happens in Gaza tonight or tomorrow or after, know that we won’t forget and we will never forgive.

it kind of fucking astounds me how people can choose to be ignorant about so many things. i don’t get how you can see people dying and NOT CARE? why does it take convincing for you to say fucking SOMETHING about the millions of people right now who are dying or suffering because of the system YOU uphold. over 31,000 people have died in gaza. over 10 MILLION people in sudan have been displaced. over 580,000 people in the USA are homeless. on average, black women are 6 times more likely to be homicide victims than white women are. i don’t know how many more fucking numbers you guys need to see to care, since apparently you lack the sympathy to give a fuck when we tell you that PEOPLE ARE DYING. PEOPLE’S LIVES ARE BEING DESTROYED. i don’t give a shit about your politics or your opinions. don’t wait until you are effected, say something now.

An image, showing some of the babies killed in Gaza due to Israel airstrikes, last updated Jan. 9th. Someone calculated it to be over 8600 babies.

To borrow a slogan from the U.S AIDS epidemic, "Silence = Death"
Call your representatives. Uplift Palestinian voices. Make noise.
Don't get used to the death and the trauma.
Don't get accept it.
Palestinians don't have the luxury of staying silent. And we mustn't let ourselves do that either.

Genocide does not come unexpectedly. It does not fall upon a people without preamble. It does not occur quietly. It does not happen in secret. It does not take place in covert back rooms. It is not planned by clandestine agents.
It is planned in government offices with the full weight of the law and the full respect of the authorities. It is documented. Extensively. It is planned. Meticulously. Its strategy is debated. Considerably.
It takes place with the full sanction or negligent neutrality and non-observance of the "International Community."
Genocide is advertised. There are pictures. News reports. First-hand accounts. Talking heads debate its necessity. There are riots. Pleas. Bombs. Gunshots. Your neighbors are oh-so tired of hearing gunshots, of smelling smoke, of seeing the bodies pile up.
Genocide happens in an accountant’s backyard, with his tax dollars. It happens while you commute to work. Bodies burn while you sleep. Your children swim and dance gleefully next to death factories. Genocide happens right before our watchful eyes. We hear it, we see it, we taste it. The acrid scent of death. The cries for mercy. The sight of deprivation. All of it falls on dull senses. And we shielded ourselves from it.

Hey yknow how a few months into the pandemic folk finally realised that compassion fatigue is a real tangible thing that comes on real quick when no matter how much you do the right thing, the powers that be continue to make it harder and insist on making choices that harm and kill people regardless, and we started being a lot more gentle with folk who were tangibly doing the right things (staying home, masking, testing) but were too exhausted to share statistics, correct misinfo and otherwise preach from the rooftops about it?
can we have that understanding for people who will pour their spare change into relief funds and take part in boycotts to the best of their abilities but still don't want untagged photos and videos or graphic descriptions of dead children on their social media feeds?

Generally, I'm not good at compiling posts as I'm not exactly sure what to say, nor what could make it easiest to digest to people. But this is a small reminder that there are still people in the north of Gaza who are starving, even if "Israel" is saying that it has been fully "cleansed". People are starving. People are being prevented insulin and medicine. They're grinding down animal feed into flour to make bread to sustain themselves. They're resorting to killing and eating donkeys and other livestock just to keep themselves alive, because they have no other choice. The north is being starved, and the south is being carpet bombed.
It's a genocide. Not only should this affect you, it will affect you, due to the damages this is causing to our environment. What's happening in Gaza is an issue everyone should feel passionate about, and just because the oppressor is "Israel" doesn't mean they get to cry "anti-semitism" and get off scot free when it comes to war crimes.
Your silence is compliance. Keep pushing Palestinian voices and keep calling for a ceasefire if you can. The strike for Palestine still has 2 days. Your boycotts work, your pressure works, and the only way to make a difference is by speaking up. Doesn't matter how small and insignificant you think your voice is.

kindly never come into my inbox trying to force my political views out of me again, especially when it’s listed in my carrd that i’m jewish (although let me guess, you didn’t care enough to look at my carrd and know me before you sent that ask?)
i’ll be deleting the ask but never come back to my inbox again, anon. my socials are not a safe space for that. my family are constantly watching.

Are you currently working on any other writing projects?
Yes, I am. I actually have a another series for Dattles I’m currently working on(it’s a Dance AU). However, I know that if Nettles casting is um not book accurate in terms of race, I will probably lose motivation to write for her(for a time).
Yes fanfics are their own entity, but they also provide fandom engagement and I feel like that contributes to the show’s popularity/promotion and I won’t promote a show that’s blatantly anti-Black. So I’m basically waiting to see what happens before I post anything else or invest my time further 🤷🏽‍♀️

#dude i am so sick of 'silence is compliance'#like if you chose to not/cannot speak abt certain issues you are automatically siding with the oppresor#i am a very ignorant uninformed person#i try my best to be informed about as many things as possible#but i'm just a meat sack#and having fully-informed opinions about every social issue is a near impossible standard to hold people up to#if you're speaking about x you must have the energy/information/time to speak about y and z#respectfully: no#there are issues i have been informing myself on for years so i'll have stronger and more coherent things to say about those issues#over things that are currently developing with lots of conflicting information#not everybody needs to speak about every thing#because once you force people to speak about things they aren't informed about you get people putting their feet in their mouths#or saying something flat out incorrect because that was what information they had access to at the time#i would have said all of this underneath a comment along the lines of 'not speaking up about !ranian issues right now#is siding with their oppressors'#i am extremely uneducated about this and i've been following as much as i can#and that doesn't mean that me not making my entire existence on social media about the most current social issue#means i side with the oppressor#i don't#unsurprisingly i think oppression across the board is bad#i just don't have the time/mental energy/information to say anything#big big emphasis on mental energy#anyways#that's about all i have to say

hoping this doesn’t come across as an effort to spare white feelings but it seems to me like a lot of defensiveness coming from white fans rn has to do with the perception that being involved in and/or benefitting from racism in a fandom space automatically means enthusiastic, malicious, intentional participation in racist rhetoric. this shit is subtle and nuanced like a lot of online prejudice is. i’ve seen so many ppl share the experience of being a white preteen mcr/ray fan in constant confusion abt just why he was treated so differently than the rest, why there was such a disparity in how he was perceived and treated by fans and media alike, myself included! that’s textbook white privilege y’all, that’s a direct consequence of racism. we benefitted from that. were we being actively bigoted? in a lot of cases, no. but that doesn’t mean ignorance is all of a sudden w/out meaning. change starts internally, drop the defensive attitude and put in the work.
