Hello friends! I'm having a super busy week (which is really unusual in this period of my life), so I had no time for new words. Which means, different kind of post.

I need to keep working on my COBB because I really want to have a regular posting schedule, but I have to avoid feeling stuck with it. I'm a WIP hopper, I need to follow inspiration and start new projects all the time, so feeling like I have to work on ONE fic and nothing else kills my creativity. So, I want to continue one of my other WIPs. But I have too many shorter projects that are equally close to being finished (which means... 25 to 50% drafted), so I'm asking for help to choose one to continue.

It's possible I'll ignore your suggestions in the end, but help me choose anyway! (Usually receiving suggestions when I can't decide between some options makes me realise that deep down I had already chosen, and I just needed someone to suggest another option to feel disappointed and be like ok but actually I wanted to do that other thing—)

Anyway. WIPs and tags under the cut!

1. pirate blouse

I started this fic to reply to an ask after one of those prompt things I reblog sometimes. It's half written, I think.

Plot: Simon is a stressed TA and Baz shows up to his class in a... provoking outfit. Simon loses it.

Quote: Nobody's paying attention to their insane TA going off on one of their mates. Good. I don't need a complaint for assault to drive my doctorate even farther away from my grasp.

I just need Grimm-Pitch to leave my classroom and come back wearing proper trousers before my overworked brain cells decide to go on permanent strike. (I'm not sure they haven't deserted me already.)

2. holiday

I haven't written much of this one, but I have the whole thing in mind. Just need to find a way to turn my ideas into words.

Plot: Friends to lovers. Simon goes on holiday with the Grimms. He and Baz have to share a bed in the same room as Malcolm and Daphne.

Quote I've already shared: When I wake up with my erection pressed against Baz's arse and his father snoring five feet away from us, I remember why I didn't want to come.

3. pine baz

I wrote half of this fic in a couple of hours and then didn't touch it for almost 2 months. Now that I've reread it I really want to continue it.

Plot: Baz is a dryad. Simon's a woodcutter. Imagine the rest.

Quote I've probably already shared: “Who are you?” the man asked, blue eyes squinting up at Basil's shadow.

“I am the pine.”

Simon didn't know many things, but he was pretty sure that pines weren't pretty men with long dark hair and pouty lips.

4. mosquito fic

This one is me channeling my hate for mosquito and mosquito-sponsored sleepless nights into a fic where the Mosquito Tragedy that ends better for Simon than it ever does for me.

Plot: Simon's haunted by a mosquito. Who might this mosquito be???

Quote: It looks like it's trying to connect his moles in constellations with its bites.

For fuck's sake.

See what this whole thing is doing to him? It's making him poetic. Making him describe his morbid relationship with a fucking bug like a fanfiction writer would.

I thought I had more WIPs to share but I realised I'm not in the mood for any of the others (mainly because they're all fics I barely started writing, so they're nowhere close to being done, unlike the others). Summary: I’ve always known that I’m an awful dancer. But Agatha is choreographing a performance for the Leavers’ Showcase, and I’ll do anything to get her back. Even if it means thrusting my hips to Marvin Gaye and The Weeknd alongside Baz Pitch.

I love this fic because it's just so fun. This one's for my people with school spirit or theatre kids or anyone that loves the rush of dopamine that comes from working together with people on a time crunch to put together something absolutely silly. It's got the classic "Baz is being nice to me what is he plotting?" trope, which is always a good time. ALSO, simon's email address is [email protected], which i think about more often than you'd think lmfao.

Disturbed, Depraved (Delightful) (E), 2k / @facewithoutheart

Summary: Simon wants Baz to tell him his depraved fantasies and then act them out (the magic is that he lets him. Or something.)

i think this must've just gotten lost in all the excellent things christina was posting during COC, because it SHOULD be a fandom classic. it's a play on the part of Carry On when baz thinks: "I imagine myself spitting in his face. And then I imagine licking it off his cheek and kissing him. (Because I'm disturbed. Ask anyone.)" and it's a lovely spin on the fantasy. god. i fucking love this fic. spit fic spit fic spit fic!! we should have more spit fic.

Summary:They tell each other, they try to tell each other often, that they love the other. Sometimes it’s just over text, but still they say it. Even though every time Simon says it, it’s like he’s handing Baz the ruby red trembling gelatin of his heart to crush. Still, Baz hasn’t crushed it, so he tells him the truth. He can do that now. Not all the time, but often enough. Simon and Baz take a shower and Simon gets to hold a lizard, but not necessarily in that order.

The series this starts,"Mouth Shapes,"is probably my favorite post-canon snowbaz universe. it does a really good job of projecting healing & comfort & the home our characters are building, and the whole thing just makes me smile very much. the second in the series, "Licking Silk" has an excellent drinking scene AND an excellent blood drinking scene AND an excellent simpard kiss scene. the whole thing just pulses with warmth and safety and happiness.

Fersons, fersons!

So, somebody (@ic3-que3n ) tagged me last week and WOOOOOT is this. I received the notif when I got home- I was so drained, and inactive, and in over my head about which college would I like to go to. Checked my tumblr to ease a bit, that's the story, and what I really want to say is: you really lifted my mood, thankyou.

This is a wip from months ago, nearly a year actually (that's how productive i am) and is my first fanfiction draft. I'm not sure if i am doing this right or if there is a right way even. I only ever written my own original stories and half of which are in my native language and in third pov. If this won't work, I can always stick to snowbaz shitposting and song parodies.

Simpard overload but, this is really a breakup cinema date? Oh come on we all know these babes would be thicker romantic or not. That and paranoid Baz.

"Shepard, stop it!" The voice is too familiar to ignore and painful to remember.

I am not not sleeping again. I have read plenty of acticles about sleep deprivation, and sure there were symptoms stated like headache, mood change, and hallucination. But to my excuse, I am a vampire. Who knows if the same rules apply. I should ask Nico (he and his buddies started this website, the catchphrase was "your health is my wealth". They answer to concerns of the undead, using themselves as lab rats whenever the client wants to try something crazy or disturbing but doesn't want to risk their life in trying so).

Maybe the kickbacks are worse. Because apparently, I'm not only seing Snow in the flesh with a bucket of popcorn – no, this is Simon Snow in chunks and hunks walking towards the cinema with a man. And they are giggling, together, arm in arm like a recently engaged couple.

News alert: vampires need more sleep than humans. Why? Oh it's easy. Because this, whatever this is I'm witnessing right now is just impossible. A no NO. Simon Snow is straight as his defective wand.

Unsung Heroes

Behold, three fics from my bookmarks that deserve more love!

It was really hard to narrow this down because I love every single fic in my bookmarks, so I went with three that I haven't seen anyone else rec yet today. All three of these have less than 100 kudos, which is absolutely criminal if you ask me.

rob my grave by @creepyspice (T, complete)

Simon killed Baz during the final battle at Watford, and when the veil opens 20 years later, he gets a visit from Baz's ghost. This fic is short, but it packs such a punch and gives so many details of what's happened to Simon in the past two decades, and in the most poetic way. Told from ghost!Baz's perspective, this fic is beautiful and it expresses both Simon's and Baz's regrets and longing so well. It hurts so good! Lovers of angst and MCD, this fic was made for you.

never before has a boy wanted more by @wetheformidables (T, WIP - but ch 1 really does stand alone)

When you read the summary for this fic, it sounds like it could be an upbeat story about Simon being really into Oliver! the musical. But it's actually a gorgeously rendered and poignant story that starts with a deep dive Simon's life in care before going off and being found by the Mage. Even though this is a WIP, chapter one really stands on its own as a rich and complete story that explores what life before Watford could have been like for Simon and features a cast of original characters from the boys home that I completely fell in love with. The setting is beautiful and the way Simon falls in love with the original cast recording of Oliver! broke my heart in the best way. Like, I literally had tears streaming down my face. A really great fic for those who just love Simon so much and sit around thinking about what it was like for him growing up as an orphan (like I do). Anyway, I'm obsessed with it and it deserves all the eyeballs and all the love.

hold back the tide by @phoxphyre (M, WIP)

A Regency era fic set on the high seas, where former Royal Navy lieutenant Simon Snow has become a pirate (after a mysterious incident of mutiny) and is being pursued by Baz, who has hated Simon since they first met in the Navy, and is now captain of his own ship. Yes, a PIRATE AU! It features amazing, detailed and engaging descriptions of the seafaring side of things (including an incredible naval chase), amazingly tension-filled flashbacks of Simon and Baz's history together in the navy and back on the ton in London, and everything lovers of historical fiction could possibly want in a Snowbaz fic. But wait, that's not all, it also has fantasy seamlessly woven in and one of my favourite Shepard's of all time (pirate!Simpard is in effect). Though it hasn't updated in a while, I know it's being actively worked on, and even if it never updates, the first two chapters are still worth reading because they're so well done.

“Shepard, I think I’m the Zodiac Killer,” Simon said. I could tell the dude was really choked up about this. He sounded frantic.

“Wha.”

“You gotta listen to me. I tried to tell Baz but he’s pissy because he has to be up early for work—“ I lift the phone away from my ear to check the time: 6:32 a.m. “— said it’s too early to deal with my shit. It’s not shit, though.”

“Dude, what are you talking about?”

“I killed Paul Stine, bro!”

Penny groans and peeks at me. “Who’re you talking to?”

“Simon.”

“Yeah?” He says.

“I’m talking to Penny.”

“Oh.”

“Simon?” She wakes up a bit. “What’s wrong?”

“He says he’s the Zodiac Killer.”

Penny’s face goes deadpan. (She looks like she’s doing a, like, really good impression of that Ben Affleck meme.) She rolls back over and points at the door. “Living room,” she grumbles.

I side eye her and climb out of bed. “Yes, light of my life.”

I go into the living room and plop down onto the sofa. The sun isn’t even starting to rise yet; the room’s dark as shit.

“So, how are you the Zodiac Killer?”

Simon coughs, it sounds wet and awful. Yikes. “Well, last week someone told me I look like Ted Cruz.”

“What.”

“And Davy went batshit. What if I went batshit?”

“I— it doesn’t work like that. And the murders happened in the seventies, dude.”

“What if I time traveled?!”

“Speakers can do that?”

Simon sniffles. “I dunno, but I have fucking wings and a tail. I don’t see why I couldn’t go back to the seventies after going insane.”

This isn’t a solid theory, but fuck, I can’t find any holes to poke in it.

“Simon,” I hear Baz on the other end of the line. “I’m leaving. How’s your fever?”

“Baz, who gives a shit about my fever. I’m a serial killer.”

I hear some flutters and a slap. “Stop hitting me with your wing! You’re not the bloody Zodiac Killer.”

“But I look like Ted Cruz.”

“They said Tom Cruise, you imbecile.” Oh. Yeah, still doesn’t make sense. “Now let me take your temperature!”

“No! Leave me alone! I’m a murderer!”

“Yes, we all know. You’ve been killing things since first year!”

“Those don’t count! Stop hitting me with the pillow!”

“You started it!”

“No I di—“

Suddenly the line goes dead.

I look at the clock on my phone: 6:37.

I go back to bed.

Baz texts me later that Simon stayed up all night watching Zodiac documentaries while loopy with a fever.

UNSUNG HEROES

3 underappreciated fics from my bookmarks

Thanks for the tags @mostlymaudlin & @sillyunicorn! I’m excited to give some underloved fics more attention.

First up, gotta go fading west by @tea-brigade [3k, T] that fic changed my LIFE. Of course a fic about a road trip would take me on an emotional journey but god it gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. Love and loss and hope and regret all packed into one short fic. It’s probably one of my favorite stories of all time, let alone one of my favorite SnowBaz fics.

Bonus points: it comes with this beautiful song from @sillyunicorn

Second up, Crashing Waves by @martsonmars [800, M] which is a bit biased since it’s a gift for me but OH LORD this fic is a religious experience (for me AND Simon although his is cock-related) (ok maybe mine is too but only because Simon makes it sound so good). Seriously this is the eat/pray/love AU you didn’t know you needed. And at only 800 words it’s incredible how much punch this fic has. Like, 5k worth of emotion packed in less than 1k words.

And finally Hunger of the Shadow by @mostlymaudlin [2k, T] which is canon-compliant humdrum POV which totally shook me when I first read it. Rory said their strength lies in short fics and damn did this fic prove that (although I still love your longfics soooo maybe you’re just a good writer). Up until this fic I never really read or considered CO fic outside of romantic snowbaz but this really changed the way I thought about fanfic.

Runner up: Thanks Bro by @otherpeoplesheartachept-2 [5k, E] which Simpard-ed so hard I didn’t want Simon and Baz to get together LOL. Love this representation of friends to friends with benefits and I would take 10k more words of Simon and Shepard realizing they’re actually perfect together.

I know we already have one (two) in this fandom, but I was rewatching the original trilogy and I needed to write an AU of that...

It was the concept I wanted to submit for COBB at first. Then I thought I wanted to submit my current concept, and for a while I considered doing both... but then I took pity on myself.

Anyway! I really want to write it, one day.

This was my cast:

Baz as Princess Leia because. Come on. It gives us Han Solo!Simon which. Come on. Nuisances to lovers. I love you I know. The pining!!! The banter!!!Man I want to write this right now.

Agatha is Luke. Because I love some Chosen One Agatha content. But also, this fic will focus on Leia and Han's storylines leaving Luke's in the background... which is perfect for Agatha. She wants to be left alone.

One of my biggest problems with this fic is Baz and Agatha's relationship. I've thought of a couple of options, soooo we'll see.

C3PO is Niamh. I do love C3PO as Baz content so much, but you already gave me that, so I'm trying new things. I think C3PO as Niamh would be hilarious. Especially when Agatha is Luke.

R2D2 is Pippa. No-bullshit Pippa. Agatha has a great squad of droids ngl.

Shep is Lando, because Simpard!

And Penny... is Chewbacca.

Ebb is Obi Wan!!! For obvious reason. Like, you know, not being alive for 2/3 of a trilogy 🥰. Also, powerful but not showing it when the story starts... Kind of mentor figure... Yeah. Good shit.

The Mage is the Emperor. Baz thinks he killed his mother, but instead he made her join the dark side!!! Which gives us... Darth Natasha! I'll have to rework the plot a bit here, because the emotional Luke/Darth Vader scenes won't be emotional enough with Agatha and Natasha. There has to be Baz in the mix. But we'll see.

I have more ideas but I'll stop here.
