so I can't stop thinking about your dragon au. How did Liu Qingge and Shen Qingqiu meet? Are they Liushen before they're Bingliushen or just pining messes?
An excuse to talk about Liushen?? Y e s okay so!
The timeline is a little different in this au, meaning that Binghe is going to become a disciple at the sect but not until later (which means he never had to experience SJ), but they meet in the typical Lingxi caves type of situation. Except having a Qi Deviation is Much more dangerous when you are capable of turning into a fuck off sized dragon in a cave system that is not necessarily meant for full size dragons. Lqg treats SY with a lot of caution for a while because he recognizes that this person is (or at least was) SJ!Sqq, but knows that something is very different given that SY!Sqq has different coloration and an entirely different demeanor. He acts on this caution by being around SY a lot to observe him and tries to fight him a few times like he would with SJ but SY always declines.
Eventually they warm up to each other (SY always treated him as SY typically treats Lqg, teasing and whatnot) and as soon as SY realizes Lqg is being more friendly with him he is ecstatic and is even more teasing and friendly and invites Lqg into his hoard and home to hang out and eat together.
Which of course means that SY unknowingly initiates and engages in dragon courting!! And very intimate dragon behaviors that leave Lqg so so confused and scared and happy all at the same time. The little bit of angst in there is that Lqg thinks that this half-baked relationship means nothing to Sqq because of how he doesn’t quite reciprocate things correctly and that he’s just one in Sqq’s long string of lovers and meanwhile SY!Sqq is just like :D wow! How dragons interact with their friends is so interesting (They’re pretty much moved in with each other and almost having gay sex and scent marking each other) (Lqg has given up most of his hoard to Sqq)

So essentially yeah, they’re both happy (one of them reluctantly so) and have their weird not quite a relationship going on for a while and it doesn’t progress past that until plot happens and Binghe returns as an adult to court his Shizun and Sqq is bonked over the head with O h there’s two people trying to date me o.o

As satisfying as it is when Shen Jiu murders Qiu Jianluo and co, it would have been objectively better for him and everyone else if he hadn’t.
Because Yue Qingyuan came back to the Qiu manor.
It couldn’t have been that far apart, right? At most a few months or so, more likely just a few days. If Shen Jiu hadn’t massacred everyone and burned it down, then the illustrious Xuan Su Jian, Head disciple of the foremost sect in the cultivation world, would have shown up at their door and taken him away from there.
Based on what QHT said, SJ had already been released from his slave contract (the validity of that statement is obviously something that could be questioned, but culturally and socially it would make more sense that it is true, considering how unacceptable it would be for a noble’s daughter to marry a slave, SJ would have been nominally a member of the household, even if he wasn’t treated that way by QJL). He wasn’t legally bound there, even though it could be socially frowned upon for him to leave, and it would have been extremely difficult for him to do so on his own. If YQY were there to help him, though, that would be much easier! YQY could protect him!
So, if SJ hadn’t murdered Qiu Jianluo and had just waited a little longer, there would be:
A) the promise that YQY made being kept, and their relationship not destroyed, and they might have even talked things over
B) Wu Yanzi wouldn’t have had the chance to destroy SJ’s self-confidence and he wouldn’t have ended up with such a massive hangup over his late start, and he would have probably done better without that.
C) as a result, most likely less of a bitter rivalry with LQG since so much of that stemmed from comments about SJ’s age
D) SJ feeling less of a need to sabotage young talent’s cultivation for his own insecurity
E) Less crimes to hold against him! No massacre, no WYZ… he’s basically completely innocent.
He still has so much trauma, and he’d still probably be hung up over the cultivation progress a bit, but without WYZ’s putting him down things would be much easier, plus he would have had his trust in YQY restored, which means that there is still one person that he trusts, even if he still distrusts everyone else.
Of course it’s satisfying for him to strike back against his abuser! But he would have probably been much happier and better off in the end if he had just waited a little bit longer.
But SJ had no way of knowing just how close YQY was to fulfilling his promise, which adds a whole additional layer to the tragedy of Qijiu.
Once again, the threads of blood just passing each other by.

thinking about a dumb thing where mobei overhears sqh telling a story to the disciples and gets rlly invested but doesnt want to admit he's been following him around his peak so he listens from the shadows. It's a beautiful tale of a powerful cultivator king who seeks demonic cultivation in order to save his family and people. There's a grand battle where he is the sole solider against an army of thousands, everyone is on the edge of their seats as SQH describes that during the battle, (1)
(2) spies have infiltrated the castle to take his son! the wife fights valiantly, but shes mortal, and by the time the king hears her call she is already slipping from the tallest tower. She falls before her beloved husband arrives, and he flies after her. It's a drawn out moment, where SQH describes the wind pressing past them both, the weight of her body dragging her down. what mbj does not anticipate is "the agonising silence that followed the tragic thud of her body, too fast to catch" (3) cue mbj leaping out of the shadows without thinking because WHAT!!!!! WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE D I E D, WHAT! the disciples are screaming. the hall masters are rushing in the room in a panic. sqh has no fucking idea what to say other than "ITS A TRAGEDY FOR A REASON!!"

SQQ would be crowing about how he absolutely told zhangmen-shixiong that SQH was a spy! (This applies to both versions of SQQ. SJ because he's upset that nobody believed him, SY because that's what you get when you let your demon sneak onto the peak Airplane!!)
SQH has to pull out all stops in his bullshitting to explain why he shouldn't be executed or kicked off the mountain and actually zhangmen-shixiong, having the future Northern Demon King as our mascot ally could have a lot of benefits for us...
In the end MBJ is allowed to visit for SQH Story Hours if he behaves, mostly because they can't exactly keep him out (they try. MBJ is too OP, nothing they do even so much as hinders him) and SQH is too important to be easily replaced.
So MBJ gets to sit among the disciples and listen to SQH tell his funky little stories. Then one day the disciples complain about how SQH always messes up the endings (why all the tragedies, Airplane? Clearly your audience is clamoring for a happy end!), so SQH suggests that if they don't like the stories then they should write their own.
Next morning there's a perfectly filled out request form on YQY's desk for an open attendance fiction writing workshop. YQY is very sure he has locked the door last evening, but also that handwriting is very familiar, wtf Shang-shidi. He always assumed SQH's head disciple was finishing up SQH's paperwork whenever he fell asleep at his desk and turns out he was half right. He has no idea what interest a bored demon could possibly have in requisition forms, but there are so many worse things he could be doing that YQY will just pretend that it's not happening, for the sake of his sanity. He will have Words with SQH about why his demon has free access to all of CQMS's paperwork, but in the meantime he gives his blessing for an interpeak writing workshop ft. one MBJ, because that feels like the path of least resistance. Also maybe because SQQ expressed interest in the idea when he heard about it and what SQQ wants, YQY will give him.

sariyah is the type to put others before herself no matter what; all it takes is one phone call for her to drop whatever she’s doing and run to them. Family, friends, strangers; no ask is too big and no thank you too small. there is no great compliment than being someone people knew they could depend on, but she struggles asking for help when she needs it. she tells herself she can handle everything on her own because she was raised to believe the worst thing a person can be is a burden. she’s not a prideful person and can openly admit to her faults. she’ll apologize even when she wasn’t the perpetrator  of conflict because keeping the peace means more to her than petty discourse, even if it was her feelings hurt at the end of the day. she finds it impossible to stand up for herself. It’s easy for others to use her as a doormat and she lets them do it. she’s much too frightened of disappointing people who have come to trust her so she’s mastered the inability to say no. she’s a dreamer. when she’s not trying to solve other people’s problems, or scouring the valparaíso streets for new artists, she’s doodling in the margins of her textbook or looking out the window envisioning a world where the opinions of others didn’t matter to her anymore. she tries to find joy in the little things and doesn’t let the small missteps consume her. she’s quick on her feet and can find solutions to her problems with ease. she works well under pressure as it was the only state she worked in growing up, and she does her best not to let those around see her sweat. again, the worst thing a lady could be was a burden. she romanticizes every aspect of her life for her own sake, every action holds weight, every place is more than just a building, and every word spoken has meaning. her existence becomes important because she makes it so. she offers the benefit of the doubt to everyone she meets; she doesnt have time for rumors or whispered disapprovals from people who just haven’t given someone a chance. she takes it upon herself to be the person to see the good in all. she holds her hands over the fire even after it gets warm; only pulling away once she’s burned but even then she’s sure she’ll heal and try again.

as a child, everything was funny to sariyah. a rambunctious child skipping up and down with a song on her lips and flowers in her hair. But it was never her parents following after her up the spiral staircase in the main room of the carter estate. nannies tagged team on how to cut her off from getting away again as her parents busied themself with her older brother. whenever she’d stand in the door breathless and urging them to come play with her they’d close the parlor doors, blocking her view of them but more importantly their view of her. but there was freedom in feeling bare feet on cool granite, of staying in her nightgown on a saturday morning, she never understood why they wouldn’t join her. The more playful she became, the harder it seemed her parents, specifically her mother, tried to mold her into something more refined. she couldn’t play with the other kids with grass stains on their clothes and dirt beneath their nails. Instead, she sat in etiquette classes learning the differences in dinner utensils left to daydream of the kind of fun she didn’t have to sneak away for.
sariyah found a safe haven in school. the expensive private academies her parents sent her to were strict, tradition devoted, and soul sucking. she never made friends, she tried too hard and was much too awkward. the other kids didn’t like how she knew the answer to every question posed in class, or that her mom still dropped her off and picked her up at the same time promptly every morning. they considered her a prude, a snitch, someone uncool without ever getting to know her. even the clubs her mother forced her to join were ostracizing. it made her skin itchy with the knowledge that the kids would only speak to her out of obligation and not because they wanted to. but the school had an art studio. 
it was the only place she ever saw such vibrant colors, the only place she could take the worlds and feelings envisioned inside her head and personify them on canvas. it was her best kept secret. she penned her art under the name ‘ dove blossom ’ and left it in the supply closet, never taking ownership, no matter how many times the teacher had asked or compliments her work got. she was just happy that she got to keep creating without the worry of ridicule from her mother, or scrutiny from peers once they figured out it was her. but all good things eventually come to an end, and her identity was discovered. a teacher, who she thought had been long gone, had stayed later to catch the mysterious dove shim in the act and told her parents everything. there was a parent-teacher conference held, and at first you thought you were in trouble, but once your mother had heard the glowing review of your work from your teacher and students she didn’t see an imaginative flame she needed to snuff out; she saw an opportunity.
over the years, sariyah thought she was supposed to be happy. With her mother’s approval she could do all the painting she wanted, try any medium, buy all the latest tools and expensive paint; they turned her old piano room into an art studio, hired tutors, enrolled her in additional art classes, and lined up all the art schools she’d be applying to. She got into the royal college of art, had her own exhibit before she graduated, and was named the best new artist but multiple art journals before her senior year. Yet, she was so unhappy. This wasn’t how it was suppose to be. Her mother had taken her artistry and turned it into a machine. Her work wasn’t her own anymore. The vibrancy drained from each cavanas, the work became darker but no one thought she needed help. Her mother had everyone believe she was challenging herself. Trying new artforms. No matter how much she tried to speak up for herself, her mother would run her down.
TW; SELFHARM: feeling trapped and seeing no other way out, sariyah grew desperate; taking a mallet in the empty studio she worked in and slamming it on her right hand with all the adrenaline spiked strength she could. the pain was unimaginable, but so was the life for herself if she didn’t do this she thought, and managed to get two more hits in before the pain became too much TW; SELFHARM DONE. sariyah wasn’t thinking about the damage she’d done to her hand as whole, she’d only been concerned about ensuring that she couldn’t paint ever again. news that both crushed her and brought sweet relief when she heard it from the doctor himself. she’d still have use of her right hand, still be able to eat and drink and grab things, but the muscles were forever altered. there was no way she could withstand using her right hand to draw or write for long periods of time. she could no longer lift objects more then ten pounds with her right hand and it was better not to hold it in positions that were nearly closed ( like holding a paint brush ) or it cramp to the point of being rendered useless. sariyah was free. her mom was devastated. all of her hard work had just gone down the drain, but she wasn’t ready to give up yet.
several rehab centers, and soothsayers later sariyah no longer wanted to play into her mother’s fantasy. she’d given her mother too much of her life already. maybe it was because she knew her mother would be unmoving, or maybe sariyah just didn’t have it in her yet to defend herself, but she quietly booked a one way ticket to valparaíso and never looked back. she’s gone no contact with her parents. and it didn’t take them long to cut her off after that ( which she figured they’d do so she drained as much as she could out of her trust fund before her flight to hold her over until her new job started ). now sariyah is focused on the little things again, trying to find the vibrant colors in her day to day that she once loved so much and hoping she can mentor young artist in a way that doesn’t kill their creative spirit the way her mother killed hers.

sariyah comes from old money. the carter family owned the same car manufacturing business since the 1930s. their company distributes luxury vehicles all across milan, italy and the united kingdom. thanks to her brother they are in talks to begin importing to the united states.
grew up HELLA sheltered. her mom controlled her every day to day, from what time she woke up to what she wore to what she ate. She never had to do a chore or feed herself or shop for herself until she arrived in valparaiso so everything has been a really big learning experience so she has a notebook that’s her just jotting down helpful hints for her day to day like what a delicate wash on the washer means or how to use the chip on her debit card.
her first purchases when she got here was a mint lusso cruise bike and she loves that thing like its her first child. it’s her preferred mode of transportation even with all the hills in valparaíso and good exercise for her hands.
has a very weak right hand and often needs help carrying things, but will she ask? no. so instead, she takes longer to do things bc she has to keep taking breaks, but she does some aids like wagons or wheeled crates, and her basket on her bike. She has to wear a compression glove on her right hand most days to help with the pain an she has a wide assortment of color so she can match with her outfit as often as possible.
will stop a conversation right in the middle of it so she can voice record or jot down and that just came to her so she doesn’t forget, but can usually slip right back into conversation with ease.
she’s the type to buy/send herself flowers, but is a little embarrassed about admitting it so she’d rather just let people believe she has a secret admirer.
she does still draw, she has a notebook of half finished drawings because the aches in her hands never permit her to finish a drawing to completion and she’s found that she likes them more as unfinished works anyway.
Has to practice in the mirror before talking to potential artists for the exhibition gallery, or making a call to an industry worker, or ( god forbid ) having to talk to one. like has a prewritten script for any interaction that she has to bug a service worker.
buys and leave cat food out around the apartment complex for the stray kitties that are lurking, and usually always has treats in her bag.
Spends a lot of her time in the resident garden because she likes being around the pretty flowers and learning to pick herself bouquets and has been taking floral arranging classes. 
is a gamer girly ! specifically on switch but she does of a pc she can play on. definitely prefers cozy games because they're low effort. her favorites are disney dreamlight valley, genshin impact, and cozy grove currently. she can't play for long periods of time because her hand will start to cramp but she finds watching streams just as fun. would watch any friends play for hours too.

Can’t Go Back: Theres a lyric in this song thats like “And it breaks my heart to say i can’t wait to live without you” and i think that vibe fits perfectly for sariyah. I’m thinking this might have been a relationship she had before she lost her ailment got the best of her, and it was the kind of relationship that everyone thought was going to be forever, they were going to walk down the aisle together, but after losing her dream of being a painter a lot in sariyah changed. She wasn’t the same person, and holding on to the person she was in love with before that change happened felt like she’d be stuck somewhere she wasnt meant to be anymore so breaking up with them was the best decision for her, and now they’re both in valparaiso !!! ooooohhhhhh and we can discuss timing and where they stand together but thats the vibes!!
Lacy: I would love a kind of best friendship based on lacy by olivia rodrigo. Very complicated and nuanced. Probably grew up together, maybe in the same art circle so their work was always compared to one another or maybe this muse is a lot more popular and finds it a lot easier than sariyah does and because of the ailment ( that she suffered in silence with ) sariyah sometimes perceived that everything just came so easy to your muse no matter how hard sariyah tried which makes her resent this muse from time to time but at the end of the day thats her best friend so she’s constantly feeling so conflicted on how to move forward when she cant go anywhere without the person she feels is holding her back.
Jeanine and Barbara type friendship: basically Sariyah vying for their approval and acceptance she thinks theyre super cool ideally someone older than her 30+ bc mommy issues on full display but yknow let her be insufferable with friendship.
Helpless crush:  these two hint it off the moment they met. growing closer with every day, and spending almost every minute with each other. but somewhere down the line this muse began developing feelings that went beyond friendly liking. but every mention of a relationship was laughed off by sariyah because her naive mind believing their conversations on a life spent together were just pretend. a way they would joke to make her feel better when it becomes too much again. But this could also go the other way as well, they can also be pathetic!!!

Pronunciation things
So I can't possibly explain everything, but I'll mention a couple things
Generally we have more like, easy to understand letters than English. "a" is only "a" not "ai". But "o" is both "o" and "å".
There are some diphtongs:
ei, øy, au - most common
ai, oi and eu - less common
There are some ch type sounds:
kj, ky, ki, sj, skj, ski, sky
most of those are different I think
There's also gj which is basically English J I think maybe
If there's a double consonant that usually means the vowel is short. (this has exceptions). And the same in reverse.
blod (no) has a long o (means blood)
Bakke (no) has a short a (means hill)
We're not french so we pronounce letters at the end of our words even if they're vocals.

Frislandic Phonology and Orthography
Right, let's begin this series on what Frislandic looks like now. We'll start with rhe bit which will hopefully make the examples in the followonf sections at least pronouncable: the phonology and orthography. The next post will be historical and dialectal notes which will hopefully make what I'll describe below more transparent.
If I was asked to give a 'phoneme inventory' (ugh) of (standard) Frislandic, I'd basicallt have to provide you with the table below. The orthographyk follows these conventions for the most part, with a couple of exceptions that will be noted when they are relevant.

In terms of phonetic detail the consonants notated here as alveolar tend to be more denti-alveolar, with the exception of /s r/ which tend instead towards more of a retracted alveolar, though rarely a true retroflex. Additionally the affricate /t͡s/ is for some speakers a palatalised /t͡sʲ/.
But that's not the whole story, of course, because an inventory never is. Not all of these sounds are created equal and some have wildly different distributions. Indeed, for historical reasons it's generally better to speak of contrasts in phonotactic environments (not that I really have the space or time to go througy this in full but hey).
First of all, /f/ and /o/ are loan phones plain and simple. They are not found in native vocabulary and the latter isn't found even in early Irish or Norse loans due to back vowel raising. Words for modern life such as fon /fon/ 'phone' and fan /fɑn/ 'flag' are typical examples.
Secondly, of the consonants found in native forms, only /p t t͡s k tʰ kʰ ɬ s ɕ m n/ are found root-initially in citation forms. Additionally, /pʰ ʰp/ don't occur root-finally except in a small number of loans such as sjip /ɕipʰ/ 'ship', pijp /pʰəi̯pʰ/ '(tobacco) pipe' and kopp /kʰuʰp/ 'cup'; otherwise in native roots they are only found root-medially in frozen compounds, e.g. tepeð /ˈtʰepʰeð/ 'waterfall' boppesj /ˈpuʰpəɕ/ 'hoe, adze', dæppo /ˈtæʰpu/ 'birch tree' and sorpo /ˈsurpʰu/ 'ash tree'.
With regards to the vowels, the /ə/ has a distinct status relative to the other vowels, in that it is only found in unstressed syllables, although in this position it does contrast with the other vowels. It does appear to behave largely as an epenthetic device to break up inpermissible clusters, in that there are a large number of words that alternate between syncopated and unsyncopated forms, e.g. nukkel /ˈnyʰkəl/ 'anchovies' vs. nukklen /ˈnyʰkklən/ 'anchovy' or ober /ˈupər/ 'job' vs. obreð /ˈuprəð/ 'at work'. However, it is also found in root-final open syllables where there is no such motivation, e.g. nalle /ˈnɑɬə/ 'militia' or uone /ˈuə̯nə/ 'tree spirits, fairy folk'. Here we can find minimal pairs of /ə/ with /e/, whuch are not normally distinguished orthographically: nalle /ˈnɑɬe/ 'of the militia', uone /ˈuə̯ne/ 'fairy-like, of the fairies'.
Phonotactics are generally (C)V(C)(C), of which valid CC clusters consist of a nasal, liquid or voiceless fricative followed by a plain stop or affricate e.g. bond /punt/ 'eel', belz /pelt͡s/ 'monster, beast', gost /kust/ 'shade, shadow', bollk /puɬk/ 'tower'. Note in the latter two cases the second member of the cluster is written as if it were an aspirated stop, due to morphological alternations between the plain and pre-aspirated stops, e.g. gerott /kəˈruʰt/ 'shadows', bolokk /puˈluʰk/ 'towers', by analogy with e.g. tærg /tʰærk/ 'heart' → detræg /təˈtʰræg/ 'hearts'.
As you might notice prosody consists of stress. This is predictable diachronically but not synchronically. In general the root is always stressed, but which syllable of the root is stressed depends on the root, as frozen compounds vary in this regard e.g. bittang /ˈpiʰtɑŋ/ 'winter' vs. kaðtang /kʰɑðˈtʰɑŋ/ 'spring'. Additionally, in some nouns there is a shift of stress rightwards in the plural, often accompanied by vowel quality shifts e.g. gorot /ˈkurutʰ/ 'prayer' → geruot /kəˈruə̯tʰ/ 'prayers'. In a couple of houns stress is the only signifier of plurality e.g. sjirivs /ˈɕiriu̯s/ 'letter, missive' → sjirivs /ɕiˈriu̯s/ 'letters, missives' Otherwise however stress is lacking in functional load.
In terms of phonological alternations there isn't much to say, because there's little that is fully regular and it would probably be better to discuss the alternations which do exist when tackling the morphology itself. Unaspirated stops do tend to be voiced intervocalically but this isn't contrastive. Additionally native speakers tend to epenthesise more schwas than are typically represented orthographically, both ij native and borrowed words, e.g. bænll /pæn[ə]ɬ/ 'walking stick', kernkres /ˈkʰer[ə]ŋkʰrəs/ 'orphan' or glas /k[ə]ˈlɑs/ 'glass'.
There is a morphologically conditioned but fairly pervasive process of lenition which results in the following alternations:

However, the actual outcome of these frequently is obscured by the quality of the following vowel. For example, here is the possessive paradigm for muot /muə̯tʰ/ 'paternal grandmother': m'uot /muə̯tʰ/ 'my...', k'uot /kʰuə̯tʰ/ 'thy...', bemuot /pəˈmuə̯tʰ/ 'our...', kumuot /kʰyˈmuə̯tʰ/ 'your...', 'uot /uə̯tʰ/ 'their...', where there is lenition in the singular and third person plural but not in the first and second person plural, and the lenited form of muot is therefore uot and not !vuot as might be expected a priori. Even more irregularities can be seen in forms such as zitt /t͡siʰt/ 'chin, jaw', which has a first person singular possessed form of either m'ijtt /məi̯ʰt/ or even m'isjt /miɕt/ depending on the speaker.
There is also a minor process of pre-aspiration that occurs with the reflexive possessive prefix o- /u/ which produces the following alternations /p t t͡s k/ → /ʰp ʰt s ʰk/, e.g. oppodet /uˈʰputətʰ/ 'own father-in-law', osær /uˈsær/ 'own arms'.
Vowels and semivowels interact in fun ways. In particular the four diphthongs /əi̯ əu̯ iə̯ uə̯/ <ij w ie uo> when combined with the glides /j/ <j> and /β/ <v> give /əi̯ øy̯ ei̯ u̯əi̯/ <ij uj ej uoj> and /iu̯ əu̯ i̯əu̯ ou̯/ <iv w iev ov> respectively. These diphthing simplifications have effects on nominal morphology e.g. sw /səu̯/ 'woman/women', genitive suj /søy̯/ being ambiguous for singular vs. plural , and also is the historical explanation for the plural of sjirivs being marked by stress only (on which more in a subsequent post).
Finally there is a process of umlaut, where a low vowel is fronted in certain morphological contexts. Thus /ɑ/ shifts to /æ/ which itself shifts to /e/ or /iə̯/. This is found mostly with verbs in e.g. imperatives and indirect past e.g. kajn /kʰɑi̯n/ 'die' → kæjnæ! /ˈkʰæi̯næ/ 'die! (sg.)', kæjnið /ˈkʰæi̯nið/ 'is said to have died' or kæb /kʰæp/ 'hear' → kebæ /ˈkʰepæ/ 'listen!'.
