This is SLA Industries (1993). That’s pronounced “slay,” incidentally, a fact that should give you some insight into the overall temperament of the game.
Let’s see if I can do this in the character limit. The titular company is run by Mr. Slayer, a pumpkin-headed supervillain, and it sits at the center of a horrible, violent universe. The company headquarters is surrounded by post-apocalyptic city ruins called Cannibal Sectors that are filled with all manner of mutants, monsters and serial murderers. Players are freelancers (of COURSE, why would there be paid benefits in a dystopia) who hunt monsters and take part in office politics.
There is a laundry list of super obvious influences. The goth and industrial music scenes are big one — lots of Siouxsie’s with big guns (and top hats) in the art. 40K is another, both in some of the art and in the waist-deep approach to lore. It being a product of Scotland, I expect 2000AD is in the mix, though not as front and center as I would have guessed. There’s some cyberpunk elements (the megacorp, for one), but SLA’s prime science fiction is more in line with the schlocky dystopias of Death Race 2000 and The Running Man, especially in the game’s notion that the players are probably on-camera through most of their exploits, an eerie (if likely entirely accidental) anticipation of reality TV. All of this is filtered, to varying degrees, through the aesthetics and sensibilities of early 90s manga and anime. The result is a big old stew pot of the likes of Rifts and Battlelords, but slathered in nihilism rather than bombast.
System? Oh god, there’s a system under all this? Oh, yea, there it is, on page 110. There is so much lore in this book that even when I am staring right at the system, I can’t really parse it, because I am still reeling from all the factions and history. It looks complicated and embedded in too many words.

The artist I paid came through and this is the final, most wicked result! Give them a look on Twitter!  https://twitter.com/ratopomboart (NSFW art acc in link)
@6robotmonster6 B A S K, also lore below
The Fox is one of the Contract Circuit’s latest rising stars, part of a stable of corporate gladiators that duel each other and those of rival companies to the death for fame and fortune!
Though a fairly recent newcomer with only several months of experience, The Fox has distinguished himself for his mixture of underhanded tactics and showmanship, evoking the imagery and alleged cunning of a long extinct animal within The World of Progress.
His catchphrase is “THE FOX FUCKS”, pronounced in a thick scottish/cockney accent so as to sound like “THE FOX FOCKS!” and his preferred melee weapon is a custom MAC-brand knife.
His public persona is bombastic and intelligent, yet manipulative, it and his Powercell suit more than making up for his short stature as he likes to state a mixture of well-informed facts, half-truths and the occasional outright slander both in the name of a paycheck and to please the suits, all in a very suave and natural-sounding manner.
Privately he enjoys Sasoran animation and comic books, alongside the bodies of his groupies, be it sexually, cannibalistically or both, being fond of torture and using his boyish good looks and manipulations to goad others, potentially even higher-ranked company Operatives, into bed.
He ensures this fact is kept secret between him and the receiving parties, resorting to gentle words with a pinch of blackmail if possible, or apologizing profusely to brush off getting a bit “overzealous” during BDSM.
Along with this fact, he defies the typical Contract Circuit hothead stereotype by being quite knowledgable and helpful to any Operative squad he is assigned to, some of which found him suspicious for it.
Yet even with all this, SLA owns the media, and even if he is somehow caught at his worst on-camera, it’s nothing his agent cannot sweep under the rug.
In-fact, his only real concern is surviving long enough to become legend or dying as flavour-of-the-year like so many before him.

Went to Airecon yesterday- mentioned SLA to an artist and got nostalgic. So here's "Ribbon", a necanthrope without arms (who will still use her deathsuit to kill you).

Want to add an extra layer of fun to your scifi games? Especially ones where there's always a crashing corporate and media presence? Well how about getting those characters sponsored. Slap a logo on them and watch them try to get more into the spotlight so they can suck up some residual earnings on the side!

Made a very feline Wraith called Msskt for a new SLA Industries forum game I’ve just started playing. Thank gods for Hero Forge because finding pics of cat people who aren’t just normal ass girls with cat ears online is a nightmare.
Going to try to draw them properly when I have some energy but this was a nice quick way to get an image in my head.
I have so little energy rn it’s really depressing. Thank gods for forum gaming on Discord.

More SLA aus that are outlandish and niche
•Restaurant industry AU. Dalinar runs a Michelin Star restaurant, Sadeas owns a gross and cheap restaurant chain. Kaladin’s won best employee for about a year straight because even though his boss(Gaz) fucking hates him, the EOM is a vote but not like a council vote the EMPLOYEES vote and everyone just picks Kaladin
•Cultivations Champion AU. Probably thought up before but like. Cultivation starts feeling left out and steals one of Dalinar’s Radiants (totally kaladins its gna be kaladin) to make her Champion. And since the duel os between honors and odiums champion kal just stands there watching Ft. Kal with REALLY long hair
• A twist on the shakadolin love triangle that went on from wor-ob but its shallan and adolin fighting over kaladin. The Kholin family knows about this and is somehow completely unfased by this (Dalinars only complaint is like “heirs…:(“ but he. He gets over it this isnt the focus of the conflict and Kaladin is COMPLETELY oblivious to the entire situation Ft. An exceptionally better first impression between shallan and kaladin
• Kaladin isnt brought up as a surgeon or even like as a surgeons son and we’re reminded that Alethi actually encourage war and murder (our understanding of Alethi culture has been muddled by Dalinar’s honor and Kaladin’s INNATE “i dont like death” type thing. Adolin killing Sadeas is, illegal, yes. But also no one in Alethi culture would fault him at all??)
• jobs AU set not in modern times but like… kind of in the future??. Shallan is a Medical Illustrator, Adolin is. He doesnt have a job come on hes riding off of Dad’s money.(but he does attempt fashion stuff) Kaladin is an emergency physician (MY personal dream job, go kal), and Renarin is the Crazy Inventor (tm)
•not even remotely niche but the “this entire thing is just a show theyre actors” au. And they all conveniently have the same exact name as their role. Kaladin IS ACTUALLY Dalinar’s son irl and theyre so bad at acting on that part they had to write in that Dalinar was a father figureish to Kal. Rlly out of the blue but Venli (who has makeup on but the listener/singer appearance is mostly cgi) and Shallan are sisters, not revising my opinion on this. Everything else can be figured out later i just wanted to define those two things (this specific AU is something im kinda actually working on for Red Rising (sobs in half the cast is dead)

Hello! I read through the Wicked Ones rpg and really enjoyed it. Do you have any recommendations for games where you play as the bad guys? Preferably larger books.
THEME: Bad Guys
Hello friend! From monsters to villains to just plain ol’ bad dudes, let’s see what we got. I tried to stay away from one-page RPGs, but I can’t guarantee how long some of these books will be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
SLA Industries, 2nd Edition, by Nightfall Games.
In the World of Progress, the corporation SLA Industries rules all. Employing Operatives to enforce, extend and maintain their power base, SLA controls a multitude of worlds - industrial, franchise and resource - with planet Mort at its core. As Operatives execute the company’s will, new threats emerge through the cracks of the city walls, turning Downtown into a battleground.
You, the SLA Operative, are fighting for fame and fortune against a backdrop of a crumbling reality. Operatives feed the always-on televisions with a gaudy media of wall-to-wall death and dismemberment. Operative life is all about climbing the corporate ladder and earning sponsorship deals and notoriety along the way.
In SLA Industries, you’re not exactly villains, but you’re not good people either. You work for an evil corporation, in a world of evil corporations, and you’re extending their reach for a chance to climb the corporate ladder. SLA Industries is reminiscent of trad games in terms of its complexity; character creation consists of spending points to improve abilities, and you can improve some of your character abilities by introducing flaws in other areas. Because of the roots in its game design, I’d expect a longer book to read through here.
If you want to learn more about this game, you can check out the game review for it on Cannibal Halfling Games!
Seven Deadly Sirens, by Litza Bronwyn.
In this game, you play one of seven types of mermaids and roll with seven deadly sins to power your basic and special moves in order to summon ships, lure men to you, devour their hearts, and collect their treasures. Fun, flirty, indulgent, and a little chaotic, this game is perfect for a night of raucous debauchery or an afternoon of silly adventuring.
This game is definitely on the shorter side, but I really really like the idea of using seven deadly sins as your source of power. This game is Powered by the Apocalypse, so expect something interesting to happen even with every dice roll. Unlike common PbtA games, you pick from a communal list of moves to define your character, rather than picking a playbook. The core loop of this game will involve luring men off of boats, killing them and raiding the boats for treasure.
Here, there be Monsters! By Wendi Yu.
here, there, be monsters! is a rules-lite response to monster-hunting media from the monsters' point of view. It's both a love letter and a middle finger to stuff like Hellboy (and the BPRD), the SCP Foundation, the Men in Black, the World of Darkness games and the Urban Fantasy genre in general. It is an explicitly queer, antifascist and anti-capitalist game about the monstrous and the weird, in any flavor you want, not as something to be feared, but to be cherished and protected.
Play as a diverse crew of monstrous, anomalous or just generally odd beings, fighting against those who would use, abuse or even annihilate you. Create and populate your own supernatural underworld, abnormal gang and extra-dimensional haven. Hunt monster hunters! Punch nazi occultists! Eat the rich! Protect each other! Fight back! Here, there, be monsters!
This is 164 pages of monstrous fun, in which your characters are likely treated like bad guys by the society around them, even if they’re not really villainous themselves. It gives you a chance to revel in your monstrosity, with 100 pre-made character backgrounds for you to peruse. One content warning: there is quite a bit of art revolving about bodies, in various forms (this is a monster game, after all). This isn’t meant to detract from the work - in fact, it perfectly communicates the tone of the game - but it is something you should be aware of before you buy.
Blood and Sacrilege, by Tom Clark.
In a Dark Fantasy setting based on the Early Middle Ages of England (The Dark Ages), you play as a brood of vampires bent on toppling the humans’ reign over Brackenstow. Here you'll find a country ruled by mortals, with vampires lurking in the shadows of society. It wasn’t always this way though; vampires founded Brackenstow and after a hard fought war, lost it to the mortals they once enslaved.
Nearly a century after the vampires were defeated, legal rights to the kingdom are still squabbled over by the country's self-proclaimed leaders while bishops and ministers fight for their own influential positions. The vampire threat looms on the horizon… But the power vacuum left by a leaderless kingdom has taken it's toll on the stability of the land, leading to civil unrest and the more immediate danger of war.
Now, with humans on the brink of societal collapse, the vampires peer out from the dark, and the broods that have laid in wait for so many decades start to execute their long-laid plans.
This looks like a game still in the works, but it sure looks promising. As long-defeated creatures of the night, you see a chance to take back a kingdom you once owned. Forged in the Dark games are all about projects that the group has to work consistently at in order to succeed, so expect plenty to read, especially if it’s inside such an established setting.
Villainous Fucks, by Keganexe (@keganexe)
Villainous Fucks is a tabletop roleplaying game designed for 2-6 players, about doing petty crimes as The League of Villainous Fucks, and ruining the day of Superheroes and Cops alike (and truly what's the difference). Villainous Fucks runs on Spencer Campbells incredible LUMEN System, and is inspired by the best Villains across media. LUMEN is designed for quick, tactical combat, and Villainous Fucks dials it up to 11 for the best in zany comic book style action.
If you are interested in ruining the day of do-gooders in over-the-top comic book action, and if you like your combat to be satisfying and punchy, you want Villainous Fucks. Instead of skills, LUMEN uses approaches: how your character does something is more important than what exactly they do. Is your villain Brutal, Cunning or Quick? My favourite little tidbit from Villainous Fucks is the characters’ stance on Cops. Villains believe that All Cops are Bastards, and All Superheroes are Cops. If you like revelling in doing crimes, then this is absolutely worth checking out.
Games I’ve Recommended Before
Monsterhearts 2, by Avery Alder. (Teenagers with great monstrous potential)
Spire: The City Must Fall, by Rowan Rook & Decard. (You’re sympathetic terrorists, but you’re still terrorists.)
This former request that asked about playing mind flayers and similar monsters.

The AWS Advantage: Exploring the Key Reasons Behind Its Dominance
In the ever-evolving landscape of cloud computing and web services, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has emerged as a true juggernaut. Its dominance transcends industries, making it the preferred choice for businesses, startups, and individuals alike. AWS's meteoric rise can be attributed to a potent combination of factors that have revolutionized the way organizations approach IT infrastructure and software development. In this comprehensive exploration, we will delve into the multifaceted reasons behind AWS's widespread popularity. We'll dissect how scalability, reliability, cost-effectiveness, a vast service portfolio, unwavering security, global reach, relentless innovation, and hybrid/multi-cloud capabilities have all played crucial roles in cementing AWS's position at the forefront of cloud computing.
Tumblr media
The AWS Revolution: Unpacking the Reasons Behind Its Popularity:
1. Scalability: Fueling Growth and Flexibility AWS's unparalleled scalability is one of its defining features. This capability allows businesses to start with minimal resources and effortlessly scale their infrastructure up or down based on demand. Whether you're a startup experiencing rapid growth or an enterprise dealing with fluctuating workloads, AWS offers the flexibility to align resources with your evolving requirements. This "pay-as-you-go" model ensures that you only pay for what you use, eliminating the need for costly upfront investments in hardware and infrastructure.
2. Reliability: The Backbone of Mission-Critical Operations AWS's reputation for reliability is second to none. With a highly resilient infrastructure and a robust global network, AWS delivers on its promise of high availability. It offers a Service Level Agreement (SLA) that guarantees impressive uptime percentages, making it an ideal choice for mission-critical applications. Businesses can rely on AWS to keep their services up and running, even in the face of unexpected challenges.
3. Cost-Effectiveness: A Game-Changer for Businesses of All Sizes The cost-effectiveness of AWS is a game-changer. Its pay-as-you-go pricing model enables organizations to avoid hefty upfront capital expenditures. Startups can launch their ventures with minimal financial barriers, while enterprises can optimize costs by only paying for the resources they consume. This cost flexibility is a driving force behind AWS's widespread adoption across diverse industries.
4. Wide Range of Services: A One-Stop Cloud Ecosystem AWS offers a vast ecosystem of services that cover virtually every aspect of cloud computing. From computing and storage to databases, machine learning, analytics, and more, AWS provides a comprehensive suite of tools and resources. This breadth of services allows businesses to address various IT needs within a single platform, simplifying management and reducing the complexity of multi-cloud environments.
5. Security: Fortifying the Cloud Environment Security is a paramount concern in the digital age, and AWS takes it seriously. The platform offers a myriad of security tools and features designed to protect data and applications. AWS complies with various industry standards and certifications, providing a secure environment for sensitive workloads. This commitment to security has earned AWS the trust of organizations handling critical data and applications.
6. Global Reach: Bringing Services Closer to Users With data centers strategically located in multiple regions worldwide, AWS enables businesses to deploy applications and services closer to their end-users. This reduces latency and enhances the overall user experience, a crucial advantage in today's global marketplace. AWS's global presence ensures that your services can reach users wherever they are, ensuring optimal performance and responsiveness.
7. Innovation: Staying Ahead of the Curve AWS's culture of innovation keeps businesses at the forefront of technology. The platform continually introduces new services and features, allowing organizations to leverage the latest advancements without the need for significant internal development efforts. This innovation-driven approach empowers businesses to remain agile and competitive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
8. Hybrid and Multi-Cloud Capabilities: Embracing Diverse IT Environments AWS recognizes that not all organizations operate solely in the cloud. Many have on-premises infrastructure and may choose to adopt a multi-cloud strategy. AWS provides solutions for hybrid and multi-cloud environments, enabling businesses to seamlessly integrate their existing infrastructure with the cloud or even leverage multiple cloud providers. This flexibility ensures that AWS can adapt to the unique requirements of each organization.
Tumblr media
Amazon Web Services has risen to unprecedented popularity by offering unmatched scalability, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and a comprehensive service portfolio. Its commitment to security, global reach, relentless innovation, and support for hybrid/multi-cloud environments make it the preferred choice for businesses worldwide. ACTE Technologies plays a crucial role in ensuring that professionals can harness the full potential of AWS through its comprehensive training programs. As AWS continues to shape the future of cloud computing, those equipped with the knowledge and skills provided by ACTE Technologies are poised to excel in this ever-evolving landscape.
