Ship it! This is one of those ships where I haven’t really looked for fic BUT it’s because I’m pretty particular about my Cass characterization.

1. What made you ship it?

Mostly thinking about the various parallels between their lives and how they have gone the opposite way almost every time.

How they both at their core (IMO) want to be good, but both of them think they don’t deserve to think of themselves that way.

(Also through furiously rejecting those “Cass would HATE Jason and BEAT HIM UP!!!” metas by zooming off in the opposite direction—“UM ACTUALLY I THINK YOU’LL FIND THAT SHE WOULD KISS HIM AND CHERISH HIM YOU IMBECILE. YOU FUCKING MORON.)

(Okay I wouldn’t actually go THAT far, you’d need to build to that…but I DO think that Cass would be able to SEE the pain that Jay carries around with him and that would absolutely inform her interactions with him and feelings about him.)

2. What are your favourite things about the ship?

The potential to bridge the gap between seemingly incompatible philosophies rooted in childhood trauma via empathy and the ability to find common ground!

Also, they would kick so much ass together and be hot as hell!

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on this ship?

Probably that I ship it at all? Between Cass being recruited as the face of anti-Jason people and the “Batcest” angle, I could see this being a…um…not exactly popular ship!

How do I know that H*nzo and C*le are one of my OTPs? Because when I write a background-Ye*Han, cheating Sp*riken story, it's usually one chapter and less than 5,000 words, and the longest I've done is four chapters and 18,000 words.

When I start writing a background-Sp*riken, cheating Ye*Han story, it's already six chapters long, 25,000 words, and they haven't even cheated yet.

This story starts as all stories of this kind do. With the opening of a book, that should never be opened under any circumstances.

Now Jim was not aware of the consequences of choosing this book. Really he was not pleased at all with being in the school library in the first place. But he had been assigned a book report in his English class, and soon his fate was sealed. 

He had been blissfully browsing the bookshelves when he stopped in one area in particular. There was a book on the shelf, at perfect eye level to him that seemed to call to him. 

The book was titled Trollhunter, a fantasy novel about a knight, forever destined to hunt a foe who escapes his grasp time and time again. It was short and had a promising plot, so Jim had plucked it off the shelf without a second thought and proceeded to get lost within the pages. 

In the future, once it is far too late to go back in time to change the events of the past, Jim will reopen this book and notice the bookplate on the inside of the front cover. In fading ink the words, “from the library of Jurgen Leitner” stare back at him. It is only then that he will realize this book was the cause for all his misery and misfortune. Had he not been so thoroughly consumed by the Hunt, he would mourn for the life he could have had if he had just passed over this book. Instead, as he stares at the name of Jurgen Leitner, Jim feels the Hunt thrum in his veins and knows that he will not rest, cannot rest, until his new Hunt has been completed.

There’s actually several more adventures they have together before that happens, so character-wise for Theron that particular encounter is definitely going to have shades of the KotFE timeskip, at least emotionally.

#see: the slow burn has definitely been resolved by that point #and dumb butt had been trying to play it a little too cool and got bit by the presumed dead feelings #and so that's the point where it suddenly becomes very real for him #the idea i had behind the au was that for basically the entire vanilla game #every single time they encounter each other seems like it's by chance #(but lbr it's probably teh force smooshing them together like barbie dolls) #and so all of the ships in the night connections between the knight story become actual encounters #the next two encounters are MUCH shorter #more one shots #then there's another longer arc that adapts the tatooine planetary arc with czerka #and then the revan flashpoints as an arc #and theeeen belsavis #which is immediately post-fortress #but i need to find a way to write those arcs much shorter lmao #this one killed me #it's a dang novella at this point #au: chance encounters
