Dianakko Week 2022 - Day 1: Stargazing
Thanks to @dianakko-week for the prompt!
You're a Sky Full of Stars
Diana’s heart thudded in her chest as she and Akko coasted along above the upper levels of the stratosphere.  She was dimly aware of some part of her mind making a mental note to thank Lotte for the blessing of the wind spirit even as she was otherwise overcome with a torrent of emotion.
Staring down at the flowering mark their magic had left in the atmosphere, Diana couldn’t seem to make out what exactly she was feeling.  There was pride, certainly, but also a sort of elation that she couldn’t ever remember feeling before in her life.  She was overwhelmed with a joy she never would have expected, and she struggled to put the exact reasoning into words for herself.
Then, a golden glimmer caught her attention out of the corner of her eye.  Shocked, she turned with a light gasp to see the Shiny Rod, its purpose apparently fulfilled, dissolving into starlight before their very eyes.  Akko wore an expression of sadness, a sentiment echoed by Diana as she whispered, “The rod…”  But Akko blinked her tears away in an instant and raised the rod to the heavens with a smile.
And it simply winked out of existence in her hands, the orbs set within it taking on a golden glow and flying off into space to take their place as the Big Dipper.
“Shiny Rod,” Akko called after it with a soft reverence, “thanks so much!”
Together, they regarded said constellation as the Shooting Star drifted lazily beneath their feet.
“Goodbye,” whispered Akko a moment later.
Diana dropped her attention to the girl beside her, distressed to see the tears forming in her eyes.  But Akko never wiped them away.  Instead, she wore them with pride, and Diana felt her breath catch in her chest as they glittered in the starlight.
“Akko,” she murmured before she had a chance to think better of it.  When those glittering eyes turned to her, she had to forcibly swallow the lump that had formed in her throat.  She offered a reassuring smile as she offered an upturned hand to the incredible young woman beside her.  She opened her mouth to say something as Akko gratefully took her hand…but no words came out.  There was so much she wanted to say, so much on her mind, but she couldn’t seem to make sense of any of it in that moment.  So, instead, she simply gave Akko’s hand a squeeze as her heart fluttered somewhere near her throat.
Sadly, however, time was not on their side, and the girls grew more and more aware of a decrease in their air quality.  Realizing the wind spirit’s blessing was beginning to wear off, they reluctantly took positions astride the Shooting Star to head back to Luna Nova and the Earth below.  They were surprised when the Shooting Star settled into a rather leisurely pace for their flight back, and it even heeded Diana’s gentle guidance with little to no fuss.  She was stunned, to say the least, and from behind her Akko praised it for behaving so kindly.
“How far do you think we went?” Akko asked a few minutes into their flight.
“I’m not sure.  I’m honestly not used to flying at such high speeds.”  The last time she had done was at the manor, and she hadn’t had far to go.  It was impossible to judge how far they’d flown above the clouds, but Diana was willing to bet it was a fair distance.
Akko seemed to let the subject drop, though Diana felt the girl rest her head against the back of her shoulder.  She didn’t mind—exhaustion was beginning to settle in for her as well…
“Nē, Diana?” came Akko’s voice again, softer this time.
“Yes?”
Gingerly, Akko wrapped her arms about Diana’s middle, hands resting against her stomach.  “I’m really glad it was you…”
Diana blinked, Luna Nova coming into view on the horizon.  She knew their time alone together was limited, but she honestly had no idea what to say in return.  She felt the lump in her throat again, the fullness in her heart…  And instead of fighting them down again, she carefully laid her hand over Akko’s where it rested against her stomach.  “Why don’t we talk about it tonight?” she offered.  “We can meet in the courtyard and watch the stars.”
“…I think I’d like that.”  Akko’s words, weighty with sincerity, sent a shiver snaking down Diana’s spine.  She thought for a moment that she might implode from embarrassment, but before it really took root Akko tightened her hold around Diana and sighed against her back.
Diana’s let out a sigh of her own, oddly content as Luna Nova grew ever closer.
Closer.
And closer, still.

A Ring On It
[Diakko Week 2020, Day 7: Free Day, Help Diana, Fluff, Feelings, a bit of humor, Established Relationship, Diana is Trying Her Best (TM)] AO3
Happy to participate in Diakko week 2020! @dianakko-week
---
‘If you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it! If you like it then you shoulda—’
With a flick of Diana’s wrist and wand, the music player that sat along a side table in her office fell to silence.
“—put a ring on it.” Hannah hummed, smirking up to Diana. She was sitting on the camelback sofa opposite Diana’s desk, shooting the blonde witch an infuriating look that she urgently wanted to wipe away. “I was listening to that, you know.”
“I didn’t think that sort of music was your type.”
“Why wouldn’t it be?” Hannah raised an eyebrow. “Besides, I think it had a very good message to convey.”
“One which I surely don’t need any further reminders on.” Diana replied in a clipped voice, leaning on her arm above the desk. She so rarely let her posture slack, but this was Hannah, and the thoughts weighing on her mind were heavy enough to let her shoulders slump.
“As the wise Beyonce so graciously exclaimed, ‘If you like it, put a—”
“I am working on it.”
“You have been for three months.” Hannah groaned in exasperation, dropping the porcelain cup of tea that matched their dessert plating. The set went remarkably well with her simple hardwood furniture, if Diana could say so herself.
“What’s stopping you?”
The blonde witch rubbed at her temples, wishing that Barbara had joined them this afternoon so that at least one other person would see the logic of biding her time. Then again, even Barbara’s patience was beginning to wear thin. Their initial excitement at the prospect of Diana proposing served to bolster her resolve and the firmness of her decision to do it soon. But then Akko had to fly to Japan within the month, on account of caring for her mother who had fallen ill (and thankfully is fully recovered by now). She thought to maybe follow her—perhaps find a scenic mountain where she would get down on her knee and ask for everything she had ever wanted—but then she supposed it would leave a poor taste in Akko’s mouth, with an ailing mother to worry about at the time being and all that.
The month after that, it was Diana whose affairs had gone awry one way another—her work in Medical Magic hounded her well into the weekends, even late at night at home. There was even an argument about it at some point, with Akko growing tired of Diana barely having a minute to spare for her.
That was the sign that told her to sort out her horrible habit of over working and under-delegating. Akko had always been an understanding partner. She knew that she prioritized her career and never slacked away from her responsibilities, and it would have taken a lot to push her into being upset. So month two was a no, for sure, but she was thankful they took the time sort out issues which would have come up sooner or later. How well they handled that obstacle in their relationship solidified her decision to take the next step towards marriage.
By month three it was all just nerves if she were to be honest with herself. What if she messed it up? What if Akko decided she wasn’t ready yet? What if Diana was misinterpreting the progression of their intimacy and it turns out they weren’t on the same page, thereby making it—
“Diana, I can hear you.” Hannah snapped her out of her thoughts.
It was also by month three that her two best friends started their incessant badgering.
“Really. Relax. Haven’t you two already had a conversation about this?”
“We have, of course. I wasn’t planning on just catching her off-guard without establishing that.”
“So it’s just a matter of when.”
“It is.” Diana sighed. She was thankful for the reminder. Akko was quite clear about it—she was ready now. But no one was in a hurry, and she didn’t want Diana to feel rushed. The latter witch appreciated it, greatly.
But she was ready too.
“I have a tip, with regards to the timing.” Hannah said pointedly, taking a sip of her tea to emphasize her dramatic pause.
Diana leaned forward to listen.
“Soon.”
---
She sat in a booth at her favorite corner café, jotting down the outline of her plan. The coffee was wonderful, and so was the feeling of finally having a place start.
Daunting tasks became surmountable when one broke them down into smaller, more manageable pieces. This line of thinking served her well throughout life.
Why should a proposal be any different?
She decided to set a small goal as the first step towards achieving ‘The Proposal.’ Of course, the other steps have been vaguely outlined by now, but her focus mustn’t shift away from Step 1: Finding Her Ring Size.
Diana felt good about this.
The ring, of course, would have to fit Akko perfectly—and how hard could it be?
---
It was much harder than she anticipated.
Akko was staying over the night.
At this point in their relationship, it could be said that they practically lived together—but to the surprise of many, it was Akko who insisted that she maintain her own space and a separate apartment. She still considered it as ‘home’ around half the time of each week. Diana could respect this, space was important, and somehow it helped make sure she didn’t take their nights together for granted. It gets cold—a large and empty bed, that is—when you’ve grown used to falling asleep with so much… warmth.
And Akko was so wonderfully warm this evening, slumbering at her side.
She was illuminated in hues of blue by the moonlight streaming in through the window. Diana allowed herself to stop and stare for a minute before carrying on with her plan.
She tucked a strand of brown hair behind a freckled ear.
She couldn’t wait for this to become her life every day.
Her eyes fell towards Akko’s left hand, resting easy above the thick covers she pulled up. Diana moved slowly, methodically, so as not to wake her target. She reached over to her night stand, pulling out a spool of red thread which she would expertly wrap around the finger in question. Smooth. Easy. Couldn’t possibly go wrong.
She licked her lips, careful not to disturb Akko’s slumber, and slowly began to pull lengths of the thread. She lifted her partner’s ring finger gently, keeping it up as she used her other hand to wrap the thread once,  twice, and then thrice—
Akko began to stir. Oh no. Oh no!
She was usually a very heavy sleeper—small actions like this wouldn’t be enough to wake her, for sure! The blonde kept still, holding her breath.
Akko’s fidgeting came to a stop, and she went back to snoring.
Diana sighed in relief.
But then out of nowhere Akko rolled over and—oh by Beatrix she didn’t cut the thread! She hastily reached over for some scissors, but Akko had rolled a full one-eighty-degrees and entangled them both in thread. Diana gulped. Right. The scissors!
Akko decided to roll around one more time, coming full circle and facing at Diana again. Except this time she found herself fully entangled in thread, blankets, and furiously messy brown hair.
“Diana,” she mumbled softly, arms reaching forward in search of a warm body to hold. This effectively pulled on the string even more and—ah. What a mess! Now they were both entangled, but thankfully thread was easy to manage and she could probably just charm it to fix itself.
“Dia?”
But then Akko just had to wake up.
“Hush darling, I didn’t mean to disturb you.”
Akko blinked her vision back into focus. “What is this?” she looked at her hand, half-awake. Diana swallowed. “Are you pulling some red-string of fate shit at me?”
“I—” She honestly had no idea what she meant by that but she’ll take the out. “—I suppose so, yes?”
“You are so cheesy.”
“I am?”
“It’s cute.” Akko yawned. “But it’s itchy.” She whined, swatting away the thread she was entangled in and haphazardly pulling the knot Diana made along her ring finger. “Now—sleep.”
Akko snaked her arm around her waist, and as much as Diana enjoyed the sensation of being so near, it was also now out of her reach.
Diana sighed.
Perhaps another day.
---
“It’s for medical reasons.”
Diana said with as straight a face as she could muster which, honestly, was quite ironic given her sexual orientation. She would have laughed if she weren’t so nervous.
“You want to examine my hand for medical reasons?” Akko blinked.
“Yes.”
“I mean, sure!” Akko happily held out her left hand, and Diana obliged, taking it into hers and scrutinizing it with dedication. “Well?”
“It’s looking quite handy.”
“I did not just hear you say that.”
She wasn’t exactly sure what she aimed to accomplish with this, and she wanted to flick herself in the forehead. Akko was blinking at her expectantly.
“Do we still have that tape measure?”
“Uhh.” Akko looked upwards, squinting in frustration as she tried to remember. They used it some time ago, to help with getting her measurements for all the costumes changes she’d have to do. “Yeah! Let me grab it real quick.”
By the time Akko returned with the measuring tape, Diana had realized just how poorly planned out this whole endeavor was. She figured she couldn’t just go and measure one finger and be done with it, right?
“I’m going to measure the circumference of all your fingers now.”
The more you know, she supposed.
“That is weird.” Akko narrowed her eyes. “But! You’re the magical doctor and shit between the two of us so okay I guess.”
“For health reasons.”
---
She couldn’t believe that actually worked! Diana walked briskly towards the Manor courtyard, eager to fly to the central market district of Blytonbury where Paul could be found. Finally! After all her (very awkward) efforts! She actually had to measure all ten of Akko’s fingers, but after that interesting examination Diana had breezed through the remaining paperwork she had to look-over for the day—if only so that she could give Paul the specifications before evening.
“Could you grab me some of those sweet buns I loved so much back when we were in school?” Akko called from the center of the courtyard. She was practicing another one of her performance routines. Her next show was in Glasgow, and the central theme of this particular run was fire and light magic.
Akko captivated her.
So much so that Diana stopped in her tracks, mesmerized, just watching Akko perform feats of magic that nearly looked like a dance. Fire trailed her fingertips—it matched her eyes, her hair, her spirit. She reached out and caused a spectacle of flames in blue, green, and orange. It looked a little bit like an oriental dragon, and her mastery of it impressed her so.
She was warm, yes, but sometimes Akko could burn and Diana knew this in every sense of the word.
The blonde nearly forgot that she was leaving for a quick trip to the jeweler, especially when Akko caught her gaze. She winked at Diana, and blew her a teasing, flying kiss.
Diana felt her mouth dry up, and suddenly her priority was to move towards her partner, temporarily forgetting about getting on her broom.
But then something… smelled like it was burning?
“Oh, shit!” Akko squealed, and Diana finally began to register that her fingertips were very, very warm. “I’m sorry!”
Akko had somehow set her little piece of paper on fire.
The paper.
Which had her measurements.
Diana felt her stomach sink as though she swallowed lead. She would like to perish. Preferably soon. But it would be quite problematic to perish, because then she wouldn’t be able to follow-through with her plans of eventually marrying this wonderful woman—despite the raging temptation to hex her at this moment.
 ---
“Her ring size?” Amanda leaned against one of Diana’s bookshelves with a shit-eating grin.
“Yes.” Barbara sighed in unison with Hannah. “And it is taking her ages.”
“I’m right here, you know.” Diana deadpanned.
“You know, why don’t just magically resize it?” Barbara offered.
“Because the ring will be crafted by one of the goblin workers that protested with Akko. Paul—worked in the kitchens? Brought her snacks. He’s a jeweler now. I don’t want to tamper with his craftsmanship, and I’m sure it’s something Akko would appreciate deeply.”
“That’s really thoughtful of you.” Barbara swooned.
“Now if only the thoughts became actions.” Hannah laughed. Diana rolled her eyes.
Barbara piped in, “did you try the thread thing?”
“Ended in disaster.”
“Get a mold of one of her old rings?”
“She doesn’t weary any.”
“Ask her parents?”
“Her… parents?”
“They might know!”
That could be worth a shot, she supposed. She had already asked for their permission anyway. It seemed like as good a lead as any, but her hopefulness was quickly damped by the sound of Amanda snickering.
“Damn, Cavendish!” Amanda looked about ready to burst into laughter. “I would have thought by now you’d know all about how girthy Akko’s fing—”
“Out of my office, O’Neill!’
 ---
She's tried it all and was so very near her wit's end. She asked Lotte and Sucy. She discreetly tried to slip a paper ring onto her while they held hands but Akko was much too excitable to stay still! She even tried sneaking around, like a thief in the night, in case Akko might actually have a few rings hidden somewhere in her portion of the closet. Diana didn't get very far. It was the guilt and fear of seeing something she shouldn't.
And so she finally gave in to Barbara's suggestion and phoned in for some help.
“H—Hello?”
Diana flinched. She never stuttered anymore these days, much less on the phone, but this wasn’t an ordinary phone call, no, it was one of utmost importance.
[“Diana!”] A deep, excited voice greeted her at the opposite end of the line. There was familiarity in the way he spoke, as though she had received this particular warmth before. It immediately put her at ease. Akko, it seems, took after her father.
“Mister Kagari.”
[“Call me dad!”]
She swallowed, feeling herself grow flustered at the thought of doing such a thing. “I—I need your advice on a matter, sir.”
[“Sir?”] He almost sounded aghast. [“Didn’t I just say it’s ‘dad’ now?”]
She sighed. This was going to be a long phone call.
 ---
 It was snowing.
They were sitting on a bench in Blytonbury, huddled together in the evening while flakes of frost floated down from the sky. Akko’s seen snow so many times before—both back home in Japan and here in her new home—but it amazed her every time. Diana cherished it. She wished that her childlike wonder would never dull or fade away.
She loved her a lot.
And as these feelings once again made themselves known to her, she couldn’t help but feel the frustrated at her foiled attempts at furthering their relationship.
“Whatcha thinking?” Akko asked.
“Nothing much.”
“I hate to break it to you, but that’s pretty much impossible for Diana Cavendish.”
The blonde huffed in laughter, coming up in puffs of mist through the crisp and cold air. Akko wasn’t exactly wrong.
She’s decided to drop all the secrecy and plotting and simply just ask. It was just a ring size. It wasn’t anything too much, given where they already were in this relationship.
“Could I get a look at her your hands again?”
This time, Akko looked suspicious albeit teasing. “Is it for ‘health reasons’ again?”
Diana smiled. “Definitely.”
Akko reached over, settling her hand facing up on Diana’s lap where she held it reverently.
She had such lovely hands. They were tan, because Akko loved the outdoors, but they were so much softer than people expected. Akko was a tactile individual; she liked to reach, hold, touch and feel the sensations that the world had to give. But for all the brashness of her voice and personality—her hands were soft.
Diana turned it over, tracing her fingertips along the indentations of her veins. How lovely it would be, to see two rings glistening on one of those fingers. The thought of it made her giddy a little. She couldn’t wait to wear her own wedding band as well.
She heard Akko giggle.
“Medical reasons, huh.”
Akko leaned forward, soft and teasing, and kissed her at the nose. She felt Akko’s fingers thread along with her own, and her stomach fluttered along with her heartbeat.
“If you wanted to hold my hand—” Akko grinned.  “—you could have just said so!”
The brunette’s father had more or less given her the same answer. Akko was straightforward and beating around the bush would do her no good. She may as well just ask—that was apparently what he did to get her mother’s ring size before he proposed himself. So far, it seems it worked. So why the hell not?
Diana was tired of stalling, and this was a sure-fire way to get it right.
“I’ve been meaning to ask, Akko.”
“Mhmm?”
As she turned her head to meet her partner’s gaze, Diana’s breath hitched.
Akko looked so beautiful under the lamplight and snow.
“Diana?”
Right. Ring size.
“I—”
—am so in love with you.
“You good, Dia?”
“I just wanted to ask, since we’ve talked about it already, we should begin looking and shopping around for—”
Akko blinked, her eyelashes batting with flakes of snow caught at their tips. Diana’s mouth dried up.
I—
She wanted to marry her.
“You look wonderful,” Diana blurted out.
The brunette flushed red, beautifully, and it took her breath away.
“I just meant to say, that, I—”
“Diana?” Akko asked softly, concerned, because Diana’s speech was broken and rambling by now. “What is it you’re trying to say?”
She loved her so much.
“Will you marry me?”

Summary: While visiting the Cavendish family grave site with Akko, Diana spends some time reflecting on her mother. Rated: G Words: 2843 Characters: Diana Cavendish, Atsuko Kagari Notes: This was my entry for day 5 of @dianakko-week, “hurt/comfort”!
Diana couldn’t bring herself to move. Her legs felt like lead sinking into the earth. She had so much time to prepare for this—it wasn’t like it had taken her off-guard. And yet, she couldn’t step away from her mother’s casket.
White and pink flowers decorated the coffin’s sleek beige exterior. The six-foot hole in the ground beside it would be her mother’s final resting place. Looking down into it made her head spin and her stomach churn. She didn’t want any of this to be real, even if she knew in her heart that this had been a long while coming.
“Lady Diana…”
Anna’s voice was soft as she placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. Diana didn’t turn to face her. She couldn’t.
“It’s all right, Anna,” Diana assured quietly. “I think I’d just like a few more moments alone.”
Anna’s hand lingered for a beat until she pulled away. “Of course, m’lady.”
Anna’s footsteps retreated, likely back to the car to wait for Diana there. Other than the two gravediggers speaking to one another several yards away, Diana was finally alone with her mother. Ever since the night Bernadette Cavendish passed, Diana hadn’t gotten an instant to herself—constantly speaking with family, acquaintances, staff, and guests.
Perhaps none of them realized it, but Diana had heard all of their whispers to each other. She had heard them saying how a 12-year-old girl couldn’t possibly lead the House of Cavendish. How her Aunt Daryl was likely going to run the family into the ground. How it would be up to her to make things right when she came of age. How, despite everything, they all still expected great things of her.
She had kept a good front. Diana knew that she couldn’t let herself be seen as weak or childish in front of those people. She was going to take over the family. She was going to restore magic to the world, just as her mother had wished. She needed everyone to know that there was nothing to worry about. She wasn’t a child anymore. She had locked that part of herself away.
Diana’s hands curled into fists at her sides to keep her fingers from trembling. She took a sharp breath through her nostrils, her lips pressed into a hard line. Reaching out, she placed her palm against the casket. Her eyes stung and the lump in her throat was growing more difficult to keep down.
She was no longer a child, she couldn’t be. But in that moment, Diana wanted nothing more than for her mother to wrap her in a warm, comforting embrace again. In that moment, she wanted to hear her mother’s voice say that everything was going to be all right. In that moment, she really didn’t want to be alone.
In that moment, Diana finally wept.

Diakko Week Day 2
@dianakko-week
How are we supposed to submit non-nsfw prompts when this theme is h*nd-h*lding
Lols, anyway, enjoy my Cuddles/Hand-holding prompt.
Also read here on AO3
Why was it Diana agreed on coming out to this camping trip again?  The answer was given as a screech had been heard beside her, a clumsy brunette stumbling to the ground after having tripped over some stray root.  Ah yes.  Akko was the reason.  The two had been dating for some time now, and so when she’d asked Diana if she wanted to come along on a camping trip with red and green teams, well she couldn’t refuse.  Even for as innocent as this trip was, any time with Akko was welcome.
Meanwhile, Diana continued to struggle pitching her tent.  Despite O’Neill’s demonstrations, this was still far too difficult.  Just then, a tent pole slipped from its position and smacked against her face.  Quickly, she threw down what she was doing to pull her hands up over the stinging surface.  So close was she to throwing her sensibilities out the window right then and there.  So close was she to shouting obscenities to the sky.  Instead, she only let out a low whine as she held onto the scorching mark.
She couldn’t deal with this anymore.  She couldn’t finish the stupid tent on her own like this.  Where did Akko stash their wands?  Akko kept insisting since they were going out camping, they had to do it the real way.  No magic.  Of course Diana thought that was completely ridiculous, but since everyone else agreed to it, she had to as well.  Utterly ridiculous.
Diana headed off to their luggage, seeing if the wands had been stored there.  She rummaged through the piles, feeling sorry for digging into others belongings, though not that deeply, but this was important.  Unfortunately, her search yielded nothing.
Diana brought a hand back to the skin of her cheek.  Though the initial sting had faded, it was still sensitive to the touch.  No doubt a bruise had begun forming.  They didn’t even have any ice out here for her to press against the sensitive surface.
Diana sighed, looking up through the canopy as she leaned back against a pack brought by the American in their group.  But that was the strangest thing.  She noticed something.  Something stupid, and clearly Akko.  She shook her head as she began her way toward the branch in question.  Really, how could Akko think that was a good hiding place for their wands?  She didn’t know whether it was creative or completely idiotic.
She decided the latter, seeing as how easy it was to knock them all down with a well aimed throw.  Diana sorted through the wands on the ground, picking out her own and placing the others in her own inconspicuous hiding point.  Not that it was great, but certainly better than Akko’s.
Finally with access to her magic, Diana cast a quick healing spell on herself.  It was a lovely sensation, a cool feeling washing over her body, especially the mark from earlier.  Now, she could continue work on that piece of canvas which had been giving her so much trouble previously.  A good spell would do the trick.  As long as no one noticed her cast it.
Though as Diana made her return, someone had already pitched the tent for her.  She looked around, confused as ever.  Who had made the tent for her?  No one was there.
A shiver made its way through Diana’s body.  It was getting dark, and getting cold.  No one had started their campfire yet, and there were very little supplies for it lying there.  For now, she’d go off and help with gathering wood.  Even if she was useless in most of the other matters of camping, she could at least do that.
Diana returned after some time, having found a fair amount for the fire which was beginning its short life.  All the girls had gathered around, sitting on log benches which were a part of this particular campsite.  As the sun set, and the girls were left in darkness, Diana scooted closer to the one beside her for comfort.
“Scared?”  Akko asked, resting a hand atop Diana’s.
It wasn’t quite the stories Amanda was telling.  They were all nonsense anyway.  But being here in this moment, who could blame her for seeking a little comfort.  “Not really.”  She said, resting her head atop Akko’s shoulder.
“Well what is it?”  Akko asked, wearing a look of concern.
“Maybe I’m a little cold.”  Diana admitted.  Perhaps it wasn’t that cold, but out here in the woods she was left vulnerable.
Akko wrapped her arm around Diana’s waist, pulling her closer.  “Well we’re gonna have to fix that, aren’t we.”
“Gag!”  Amanda shouted out.  “Get a room!”
Everyone at the campsite began to giggle.  And Diana herself looked up at the bright face of the girl she fell in love with.  Well, they were to share a tent tonight.

Dianakko Week 2019
@dianakko-week My entry for the final day, Day 7 Freeday!
This little blurb comes from an AU idea that I've had for awhile, but never really had the time to flesh out or make in full. In the AU, Diana is the princess of Lunovia and is set to become it's queen. Her aunt wants to contest her challenge to the throne however, and means to start a civil war!
Realizing that her splintered support of her people and troops isn't enough to defeat her aunt, Diana travels to the distant country of Niohnja where the emperor, an old friend of her mother's, has offered his aid. While traveling through the country to the capital city, Diana meets the mysterious samurai, Atsuko Kagari.
I know I’m a little late, and I apologize for that. I can't stress enough how much this stupid hurricane has thrown a wrench in my writing schedule...and my day to day life schedule as well! Thank you for your patience!

There was truth to the old saying, that it was hard to rest easy in a bed that was not your own. Diana sat on a fallen tree, not far from the now extinguished campfire, staring up at the sky full of stars. It was a quiet night, interrupted only by the light snoring coming from her companions. Diana turned to look at Hannah and Barabra, both of whom appeared sound asleep in their bed rolls. Diana knew better though. If she made and kind of noise, any calls of alarm, her two retainers would be awake in an instant, swords drawn and shields raised. Diana could see the moonlight glint off of their scabbards, revealing just how close the two knights kept their blades.
Diana wished she could join them in actually getting some sleep, but after tossing and turning for the last two hours she was pretty sure that wasn’t going to happen. It made sense, Hannah and Barabra may be her personal guards, but they were also royal knights. They had been trained under harsh, unforgiving conditions. The two of them would be used to sleeping outdoors in a forgien land. Diana’s upbringing as Lunovia’s crown princess didn’t really prepare her for such rigours. Diana sighed as she turned back to the stars. She was so focused on the sky that she didn’t hear the last of her group walked up behind her.
“Can’t sleep?” Came the accented voice.
Diana whirled around on her seat, her self-defense dagger half drawn. She felt the tension in her body leave when she realised who the voice had come from. Akko had her hands raised in defense, a goofy smile on her face.
“Whoop. Sorry Diana. I didn’t mean to scare you,” Akko said with a chuckle.
The samurai girl gave her short but respectful bow, before coming to take a seat on the ground next to her. Diana watched as Akko folded her legs under herself. Diana had no idea how the people of Niohnja could sit like that for so long. The most Diana could manage was an hour.
“Do you always sneak up on compatriots when they are fearing ambush,” Diana asked with a huff.
“No, just on the jumpy foreigners,” Akko said with a grin.
Diana scoffed and looked back to the sky. She didn’t quite know how to feel about the mysterious samurai girl. She had appeared early on in their journey. Diana, Hannah, and Barabra had been in the Niohnja for only a few hours when they were accosted by a bandit troupe. The bandits thankfully gave no indication that they knew who Diana was, just that they could tell she was a forgnier. Hannah and Barabra had their swords drawn in seconds, moving themselves to be between the thieves and herself the best they could. The two knights, as trained as they were, were outnumbered. Combined with how unfamiliar they were with Niohnjan fighting styles, and Diana had begun to fear a dangerous outcome. She had total faith in her retainers, but didn’t see how they could get out of this unscathed.
Akko had come to the rescue, in a sense. For some reason, the sight of the samurai alone sent the bandits packing. From there on, the Niohnjan woman joined their party and offered to help escort them to the capital. Diana was weary of the girl at first, but warmed up to her as they traveled. Akko carried an air of levity about her. She told jokes, stories about the land and its people and shared songs around the campfire. Diana could tell Hannah and Barabra found her annoying, but Diana couldn’t help but find her endearing. It was strange, thinking about how a girl like Akko could possibly ever be a samurai, let alone one so fierce brigands ran at the sight of her. Diana glanced to the woman sitting next to her.
Akko definitely didn’t look the part of a menacing samurai. With her friendly rounded face, goofy ponytail and large ruby eyes, Akko looked about as threatening as a puppy. Her clothes didn’t help much either. She didn’t wear any ornamental armor or the like, just a  tattered, long, red and white robe, open at her left shoulder to revealing a set of bandages wrapped around her chest. The garb gave her the air of a former aristocrat, down on her luck. Even now, as Akko sat next to her, the childlike wonder that shone in the girl’s eyes showed no sign of the battle hardened readiness that Hannah and Barabra had.
“Do I have something on my face?” Akko asked.
Diana felt a blush heat up her face. She didn’t realize she had been staring. Something about Akko just made it hard to look away.
“Why are you helping us?” Diana decided to ask out of the blue. For some reason, she felt like she needed to know.
Akko sighed. “I told you. I was on my way back to the capital anyway and you guys look like you could use the help.”
“Really? Out of the kindness of your heart?”
“Well, sure,” Akko replied. “It’s not like I wanna hurt you or need money or anything. I just wanted to help. What better reason could I need?”
The frank way Akko said it, like it was the most obvious thing in the world, shocked Diana. In that moment, it really clicked with Diana that for the woman sitting next to her, helping people in need really was just basic nature.
“What...kind of samurai are you?” Diana asked incredulously. “I can count the number of truly virtuous warriors I’ve met on one hand. Yet here you are, after showing up out of the blue, claiming that you want to help us just because it feels like the right thing to do.”
Akko laughed. “Yeah it does sound kinda lucky when you put it that way, doesn’t it?” The samurai stood and stretched before letting out a yawn. “Who knows, maybe the two of us were destined to meet.”
Diana cursed as she felt her heart flutter at the cheesy line. She watched as the other woman walked back to their campsite before plunking down to the ground. Akko leaned up against a tree, her katana resting by her side.
“You should try and get some rest Diana,” Akko called back towards her. “It’ll be a long hike to the capital tomorrow. I’ll wake you guys at sunrise.”
Diana nodded before moving to lay down on her bed roll. It would have been easy to let their conversation end there. Diana, for some reason didn’t want it to. Something was bothering her, as question eating at the back of her mind.
“Akko, once we get to the capital...what do you plan to do?”
Akko looked up in thought, bringing her hand under her chin. It was obvious she was being careful about picking her words.
“I got business I have to take care of, someone I have to report to,” the brunette woman finally responded. “I’ve got a friend that runs a good inn, very welcoming to foreigners. Once I introduce you to her, I’ll probably be on my way.”
“I see,” Diana responded.
A wide grin stretched across Akko’s face. “Why? Are you gonna miss me Diana? Don’t want me to go?”
“Don’t be ridiculous!” Diana said angrily.
With a huff, she turned her back to Akko. She hated how right Akko was and how much she really didn’t want to part ways with the mysterious yet charming woman.
“I’ll probably miss you,” Akko said at a whisper.
Diana figured the samurai hadn’t meant for her to hear it. She probably thought Diana had stopped listening and was trying to sleep. Unfortunately for both of them, Diana had heard it, and as the words dug into her rapidly beating heart, Diana accepted that she really wasn’t going to get any sleep tonight.

Diakko Week - Day 5 - Physical Affection
@dianakko-week
Here is day 5. Enjoy the sweet cuddly goodness of this short story.
Diana comes home to her and Akko’s nice little home after a long day at the hospital. She groans softly and runs her fingers through her hair, giving it a bit of volume. She had missed their movie night due to having to stay late and she felt really bad about it. Akko had insisted that it was okay, but Diana didn’t like letting Akko down.
Diana walks into the dark living room to an adorable sight. Akko is sprawled out on the couch on her back, with one leg over the top, another over the armrest, one arm hanging off the side, and the last arm curled up against her chest. Akko snores softly, clothed in her favorite snuggle wear, short sweatpant shorts and a cute oversized t shirt. Diana walks over with a pleasant little smile on her lips and she watches Akko sleep peacefully. She notices Akko shiver a little and whimper a soft ‘Diana’ before stilling once more. Diana looks around with a faint blush and spots a blanket for Akko. She walks over and grabs it, bringing it over and placing it over Akko’s sprawled body.
Akko stirs and smiles as she is met with a wonderful sight when her eyes flutter open. “Welcome home Di~ana.” Akko says happily, her voice filled with drowsiness. Diana smiles down at her and leans over to kiss Akko softly on the lips.
“Thanks babe.” She brushes some hair behind Akko’s ear before Akko sits up and pulls her arms and legs back to her body. “Come to bed.” Diana cups Akko’s cheek while Akko looks up sleepily at Diana.
“Okay, sounds good.” Akko slowly gets up, and with Diana’s help, makes her way to their cozy little bedroom. Akko, who is already in her sleep wear, crawls under the covers and moves to the middle of the bed.
Diana smiles as she watches her adorable fiancé crawl into the middle of the bed. Diana changes in her sleep wear and crawls into bed, where Akko quickly clings to her. Diana settles in with Akko nestled against her chest, enjoying Akko’s small movements and occasional kisses. Diana strokes Akko’s head and holds her close to her chest. She smiles and uses her other hand to draw small hearts on Akko’s back. She closes her eyes and keeps on stroking Akko, feeling much better after her long day. She loved just how much better she felt when snuggling with Akko, particularly at night when she was struggling to sleep. Just feeling Akko’s breathes on her skin and feeling her warm body next to hers made a huge difference.
While Diana gets lost in her thoughts of Akko, Akko slips her arms loosely around Diana’s midriff so her hands rest against Diana’s back. Her fingers slide up under Diana’s shirt and push it up so that she may feel more of Diana’s back freely. Akko runs her fingers up and down Diana’s back, feeling Diana’s spine and tense muscles. She does so very lightly, letting her fingers barely touch the impossibly soft skin. Diana loved these ‘soft tickles’ as Akko called them, they made her feel really good and relaxed. Akko angles her head down a little to more adequately nestle her face against Diana’s breasts. She smiles faintly as she gets comfortable and keeps moving her fingers up and down Diana’s back, easing the stress from Diana.
Diana squeezes Akko a little tighter and shifts slightly to adjust her head in their pillows. Her hair moves to intervene with the upper part of Akko’s soft tickle section, causing Akko’s fingers to get distracted by the super soft tips of Diana’s thick hair and starts to wrap her fingers up in the soft locks. Akko drifts off to sleep doing this, much to Diana’s dismay. Diana wished Akko could have stayed awake longer, just to play with her hair like that.
‘I suppose I could ask her to do my hair in the morning.’ Diana muses, remembering she had the day off tomorrow to spend with Akko. This makes her smile and tilt her head down to nestle against the top of Akko’s head. Diana breathes in Akko’s sweet scent and starts to drift off to sleep with Akko drooling against her chest and snoring softly. They both sleep peacefully with a faint smile on their lips throughout the night.

Dianakko Week Day 3: How/When They Fell in Love
Hi. Sry if this one seems kinda rushed, I thought this promt was Ofer in the week than it was lmao.
Anyways, this takes place directly after ep 20, when Diana and Akko are returning from the Cavendish mansion together :)
Also on AO3
@dianakko-week
Diana and Akko had been flying back to Luna Nova on the former’s broom for a while now and were quickly approaching the school. And, although Akko would never admit it, she really enjoyed being able to ride on a broom with Diana, just the two of them.
However, Akko was more confused than anything when Diana landed the broom about five minutes away from the school and abruptly ended her joyous ride.
“Diana? Why’d we stop? We’re almost there!” Akko exclaimed, trying her hardest to sound genuinely curious and hide the slightly annoyed tone that was creeping from behind.
“Sorry. I am just… taking a break,” Diana replied. Her usual strong, confident demeanor was now slightly nervous, even her slightest stutter caught Akko’s attention, and she immediately began thinking the worst.
“Do you feel okay, Diana? Are you hurt or-”
“No, no, nothing like that! There’s just… something I would like, to tell you,” Diana said in an unusually hushed tone. Akko was still undoubtedly a bit worried about her, but was glad that there was nothing physically wrong with her.
“You don’t have to be so nervous! Just tell me,” Akko said, gripping Diana’s hand lightly. It nearly startled her when Diana blushed slightly at the contact, and she resisted the urge to pull her hand away.
“Akko… I,” Diana’s nearly incoherent stuttering trailed off as she took a few deep breaths to steel herself before working up the courage to reach forward and grip Akko’s hand, staring deep into her eyes.
“Akko, I… I think I’m in love with you.”
Akko nearly stumbles backwards in surprise, she was just barely able to ground herself while Diana tugged on her hands to keep her steady. Before Diana could ask if she was alright, Akko had already let go of each of her hands and moved them up to squeeze her shoulders, a nervous yet gleeful grin plastered on her face.
“Well, Diana, I think… I might be in love with you too.”
Before Akko could let Diana stumbled backwards like she had, she had her arms wrapped around the other witch’s waist, steadying her with a firm hug.
“Hey Diana, wanna go to that café in the city tomorrow? Like… a date?” Akko asked, pulling away from her slightly. Diana pulled her right back in, resting her head on Akko’s shoulder.
“Yes, I would love that,” Diana replied with her head still rested on Akko, her usual composure seemingly drifting away.
They remained in each other’s embrace for the longest time, and Diana was of course the first to realize how late they would arrive. Not wanting to arrive after sunset, she begrudgingly pulled away from Akko’s arms, missing the warmth almost immediately. Akko gave her a questioning look, that just barely hid her sorrow.
“We should get going, it’ll get dark soon,” Diana said in the most nonchalant tone she could muster, also hiding her sadness from having to part from the embrace. Akko nodded before gripping Diana’s hand.
“Can we at least walk?” Akko asked, her voice a strangled plead.
“Alright,” Diana replied, smiling lightly.
“Hand in hand?”
Diana couldn’t stop herself from blushing slightly, squeezing Akko’s hand a little tighter.
“Alright.”

I’m a day late I know ;-; I had a lot of difficulties with my Dianakko week day 7 prompt... and like, it took me way too long to figure out how to do it! I’m.. honestly still all that sure how it came out, but I wanted to get out asap, so here it is!
Oh also s/o to @undersea-anchor. You are lovely and have been such a big help throughout this whole week. I also got inspiration for one line in the middle of the fic from this picture by @bibnella. Completely different context but I mean. I love this pic and I felt like it needed to be said. .
I hope you enjoyed this Dianakko week! Please feel free to tell you what you thought of this chapter, or my submissions in general. But of course, thank you so much for reading my fic! It’s meant so much to me that you guys read my things.
Day 7: Free day
Summary: In which Akko and Diana finally have their wedding.
Word count: 5.4k words
ffnet link ao3 link
Diana paused and turned to look at herself in the mirror, for what was probably her fifteenth time in the last couple of hours. She took a second to take in her appearance, and her lips curved down into a dissatisfied frown.
“Honestly Amanda, I haven’t the slightest clue why I let you talk me into wearing this ridiculous suit.”
“Oh c’mon Di, would you quit worrying?! You look hot... Besides, we both know I wasn’t the one who talked you into wearing that.”
Diana looked up at Amanda’s reflection in the mirror and narrowed her eyes.
“You were the one who suggested it, however.”
Amanda flashed a smug grin as she leaned back against the armrest of the couch.
“Yeah? And I remember Akko practically begging you to wear it… and as we both know, you can’t say no to those adorable puppy dog eyes.”
Diana sighed, ignoring her best woman’s little quip, and glared back down at her own reflection, one hand fiddling with the edge of slacks while the other pulled against her collar.
Months.
They had been planning today for months. Fifteen months to be exact.
What Diana, and likely Akko, had assumed would be a relatively simple affair, one that would take no more than a couple of months, had quickly grown into the greatest trial the two of them had ever faced.
Considering they had literally stared down a possessed missile together in their youth… that was saying quite a bit.
To be honest, if Diana truly had to pick between facing that missile once again and spending hours arguing over something as pointless as how the napkins at the reception would be folded… she would gladly choose facing almost certain death over those damned table cloths anyday.
Never mind the headache that was deciding the guest list.
If Akko and her didn’t have the support of their friends throughout the whole process… there’s no telling how this would have gone.
Still, after all of their preparation, not to mention their years of being engaged, what was to be the biggest day of their lives had finally arrived.
Akko was on the other side of the Cavendish estate, Lotte, Sucy, and Andrew keeping her company. There was absolutely no doubt in Diana’s mind that Akko looked absolutely stunning… If only she could know just what Akko was wearing.
Out of all the details that the two of them had spent forever ironing out, practically burning it into Diana’s mind, the one detail that neither of them were allowed to know, as per Akko’s request naturally, was how the other would be dressed.
All that they knew was that Akko would be wearing a bridal gown and Diana would be wearing a suit.
And while Diana knew Akko’s dress would be nothing short of spectacular, something that would undoubtedly leave her absolutely breathless…
Diana did another once over herself in the mirror and felt her heart drop down to the pit of her stomach.
She felt no doubt that her own attire left much to be desired. After all of  that insistence on secrecy, Akko was probably expecting something that would leave the girl absolutely floored… but this?
“Surely you don’t think Akko was expecting something like this?” Diana pivoted away from the mirror to face her friends.
“What’s so wrong about that?” Amanda asked, a brow raised. “Like I said, you look hot! That Anna sure knows how to tailor a suit. It hugs your waist just right.”
“Amanda would you quit ogling me? I’m serious,” Diana scolded. She then rapidly gestured up and down her suit and let out a defeated groan. “Akko is expecting something jaw-dropping, and truthfully I feel this suit is rather dull.”
“Jeez Diana, stop fussing about it!” Barbara interjected. Diana turned towards the door, where Hannah and Barbara stood. “Amanda’s right, you look amazing. Honestly, Akko’s going to be completely head over heels for you!”
“Well, you know, more than usual,” Hannah added.
“Seriously, knowing her, she might actually fall head over heels during the ceremony.” Amanda chuckled as she sat up on the couch. Diana turned back to her best woman, who was sending her an unsettling smirk.  “Though if you’re really looking to drop some jaws, I’ve got a couple of suggestions.”
“Here we go,” Hannah laughed, as she shook her head, though her lips were curled up in an amused smile.
“If you really want to leave an impression…” Amanda continued, clearly ignoring Hannah’s little quip. “Lose the vest. Oh, and the tie.” Amanda leaned forward and winked, which sent a shudder down Diana’s spine. “Maybe even undo a few buttons off the top. Show off a little boo-”
“Amanda O’neill! I will not be doing any of that!” Diana screamed, causing her bridesmaids to burst into laughter. Diana leaned back against the mirror and crossed her arms, doing her best to ignore the flames that had lit up in her cheeks. “Honestly, I would have thought that, on today of all days, my bridesmaids and my best woman would have the courtesy to hold off on their jokes at my expense.”
“Well, you wouldn’t have picked us for the jobs if we did, now would you?” Amanda laughed.
Diana sputtered at the accusation for just a moment, only to drop her head and chuckle in defeat.
“Perhaps not,” Diana admitted.
“Anyway, you really needed to relax,” Hannah said. “You’ve been worrying over nothing since you woke up.”
“And honestly, we thought this would be the best way to calm you down,” Barbara continued. “Give you a bit of normalcy and try to keep your mind distracted. It worked for Edgar in Nightfall volume 369.”
Diana froze for a moment, staring wide-eyed at the floor below her. Her arms fell to her sides as the words of her friends sank in.
“Have… Have I really been worrying over nothing?” Diana mumbled. When all she heard was the sound of birds outside her window, she looked up, only to see everyone else staring at her with an almost deadpan glare. “... What?”
The three turned to each other for just a second. They shared a brief nod, and Amanda then lifted herself up from the couch and began walking towards Diana.
“... Di, you literally just worried that Akko, the same Akko who actually spent hours drooling because you ‘accidentally’ got your hair cut too short a few years ago, wouldn’t be all crazy about you wearing that fine ass suit,” Amanda said. “Trust us, you need to chill.”
“Yeah Diana, Amanda’s right,” Barbara, who was now standing by Amanda’s left, agreed.
“We get that your nervous,” Hannah said from Amanda’s right. “Who wouldn’t be? But if we’re talking about Akko here… we’re pretty sure you’ve got nothing to worry about.”
Diana bit her lip, and her eyes darted down to her black leather shoes. Her hands clenched into tight, almost shaking, fists.
Then, Diana closed her eyes and took in a deep breath.
“... I just want today to go absolutely perfect for her,” Diana admitted. “Something we can look back at together forever.”
“And it will be,” Barbara answered. “As long as it’s you and her together, any day would be perfect for Akko… honestly I can’t tell you how much of my weekly Nightfall book clubs has been replaced with Lotte talking about how excited Akko is.”
And that thought made Diana smile. The thought of Akko gushing about everything to her friends because she just couldn’t contain her excitement. Her eyes twinkling with that trademark thrill that was just so Akko.
“I… suppose you three are right.”
“But, if you need something to calm you down, I think I’ve got just the thing,” Amanda said. Diana opened her eyes to see Amanda digging into the pocket inside of her own suit. “Ah, found it.” Amanda then pulled her arm out and opened up her palm.
Diana looked down, and her eyes widened when she saw red strings, all interwoven together.
“My bracelet…”
“Yeah, remember you told me to hold onto it a few days ago?” Amanda said.
“... Considering the sort of things you had us do on my so-called bachelorette party at the time, could you blame me?” Diana replied. “I’m pretty sure had I worn it that night, I would have truly lost it in all the chaos.”
“Yeah well, nothing says party like-”
“I never wish to be reminded of what transpired that night Amanda,” Diana scolded, much to the amusement of everyone else in the room. “You three did delete all photo evidence of that night, correct?”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah don’t worry about it,” Amanda waved off, to the sound of agreements from the others. “But, you gotta admit, you did have fun right? Pretty sure watching what we did gave you some ideas for the honeymoon.”
Diana’s face heated up at the thought, but she refused to acknowledge Amanda’s obvious taunt with a response.
Still, she took the string from Amanda’s hand and nodded gratefully. She wrapped it around her wrist, and a wave of calm rushed over her. She smiled and ran her fingers over the fibres of red string Akko had given her one day in between their months of hellish planning.
Diana then looked up at her bridesmaids, all giving her smiles and grins, and her arms reached out to grab all three of her friends in a tight embrace.
“Thank you,” Diana said, her voice slightly shaky, “thank you all so much.”
“Of course Diana,” Barbara said.
“Anytime,” Hannah added.
Diana continued to tightly hold the three girls in silence, with their arms eventually wrapping around Diana as well.
However, their moment together was cut short by beeping that sounded from Amanda’s wrist.
“Oh uh, well, that’s all fine and great but…” Amanda was the first pull back, and Diana saw her look down at the watch on her wrist, “We’ve got like 10 minutes ‘till you have to meet with Akko… right before you two walk down the aisle.”
Diana’s heart stopped, and the butterflies in her stomach returned, fluttering even more wildly than they had before.
She felt like she was back in high school, waiting on Akko to knock on her door for their first date… and she never wished to be back in that room, hiding beneath her bed covers more than she did now.
Before Diana could act upon any of that, however, Amanda’s hand landed on her shoulder, pulling her out of her thoughts.
“C’mon Di, wouldn’t wanna keep Akko waiting right?” Amanda said. “Besides, I can’t imagine how freaked out she is right now.”
Diana took another deep breath and gave a nervous smile.
“Yes… yes, we should go,” Diana said. “Thank you.”
“Alright, Han, Barb, I’mma take Di down myself,” Amanda said.
“Fine, fine” Hannah said. “You make sure she gets down in one piece, or you’re not hearing the end of it from either of us, right Barbara?”
“Yeah Amanda!”
“Ha, ‘aight,” Amanda laughed. Then she looked back at Diana. “Let’s go.”
And Diana nodded, doing her best to calm her, now absolutely stampeding, heart as they began making their way out of the room.
However, even she knew she wouldn’t be able to. Her heart was just beating far too fast.
And who could blame her? She was about to meet her fiancée-
“Diana! Don’t forget about your brooch!”
Diana stopped and turned towards the table at the center of the room, only to see she had, indeed, forgotten her family’s brooch, a pin in the shape of the Cavendish familiar, a unicorn.
“Woops, can’t leave that Di,” Amanda chuckled.
“... Right, my apologies.”
Akko paced back and forth along the west wall of the entrance hall, each of her steps accentuated with the loud clack of her heels slamming against the tiles. All the while, her attention was centered on the east corridor. Just waiting for Diana to make her entrance.
She could faintly hear Lotte, Sucy, and Andrew conversing behind her, but she couldn’t really tell what they were talking about over the sound of her own hammering heart, threatening to burst out of her chest.
Akko knew she should probably calm down. Try to stay still and not scuff up the floors that Anna and the rest of Diana’s house staff had spent so long cleaning… but she couldn’t help it! No matter what she tried, she couldn’t find anyway to stop her legs from bouncing, kicking, or stomping on the ground. Couldn’t find a way to stop her arms from shaking.
And, of course, with every second that passed, that excitement coursing through her veins only continued to build.
After all, the moment that Akko had been waiting for forever was about to come.
Soon, she would finally get to see how amazing Diana looked in her suit!
When Amanda made the suggestion all the way back when they first started planning, Akko would be lying if she said she wasn’t immediately on board with it. Ever since that day, Akko had spent so much of her free time just daydreaming about it!
Sure, she could have gotten a chance to see what Diana looked like a long time ago… but there was that thing about seeing the bride in their wedding outfits being bad luck. And sure, Diana told her that was just some silly superstition but… Akko didn’t want to take any chances.
She’d already burned all of her luck by having Diana in her life.
But, if Diana didn’t walk in through those doors in the next five minutes, Akko swore she would stomp through the halls and get Diana herself!
… Thankfully, she didn’t need to do that.
A click echoed from the door across the room, and Akko froze, her heart jumping high up into her throat.
Butterflies scrambled around in her stomach, and her heart felt like it would explode at any moment.
Then the doors split open.
The very second Akko laid eyes on Diana, they popped out of her head, and her knees immediately buckled. Thankfully, Lotte and Andrew were quick enough to catch her before she collapsed onto the ground, providing the support her legs could no longer give.
Sure, this was just a little pathetic, but who could blame her?!
Akko always knew Diana would look absolutely gorgeous wearing a suit. There was just something about the way Diana radiated cool and confidence that made it painfully obvious…
But damn.
How the suit just… hugged Diana’s waist and hips in all the right ways. The way its dark fabric showed off Diana’s flawless, alabaster, skin and fluffy, blonde tresses, swaying with every single step.
It all left Akko completely breathless. Her eyes couldn’t help but roam up and down Diana’s figure multiple times, burning every last detail into her mind. The silver brooch pinned onto the lapel. The dark blue vest and tie, further emphasizing Diana’s wonderfully fair skin.
Heat poured into her face, and her mouth felt completely dry.
The second Diana looked up, and Akko could finally look into Diana’s icy blue eyes, which, more than once, sent shivers down her spine, Akko felt her mind halt.
Before Akko knew it, words began to form on her lips, her mind far too consumed by her fiancée’s sheer beauty to even think about stopping them.
“H-Holy shitto da.”
Diana spent the entire trip from her dressing room to the entrance hall taking deep breaths and calming her nerves.
After all, as Amanda and Andrew had told her multiple times throughout the months, one of the suit’s strongest points was how it could exude the wearer’s own confidence and poise.
Well, that’s what Andrew had told her.
Amanda had told to ‘strut’ her ‘stuff’, with absolutely no care. Which was essentially the same, given Amanda’s own way of speaking.
However, the very second she walked into the entrance hall and saw Akko standing before her… she felt all of her composure fly away. The world froze around her, and everything else melted away, leaving just her and this angel alone together in a void of white.
All at once, the butterflies returned to wreak havoc in her gut, and her palms once again began to sweat. Just like in her dressing room, Diana suddenly felt like she was back in high school, only this was far worse on essentially every level.
Diana knew she could never have been prepared for what was to come. She knew that no matter what she tried, no matter how long she spent visualizing and imagining, Akko would leave her stunned speechless, would leave her, for lack of a better term, completely bewitched, trapped under her spell.
Even so, as Diana stared at Akko, at how the bodice, beautifully decorated in ornate, lilies and roses, clung onto Akko’s curves in a way that should have been absolutely criminal, at the skirt, which softly flared out from Akko’s hips down to hem on the floor, Diana found herself more lost for words than at any point in her life.
And that feelings only grew worse as, somehow, she was now standing right in front of her positively stunning fiancée. Diana’s eyes couldn’t help but wander, starting, of course, from Akko’s beautiful face. From those wide, absolutely hypnotizing red eyes, down towards the pure white, strapless dress that had, once again, left Diana truly speechless.
Carefully, Diana inched to reach for Akko’s hand, desperate for a touch, to know that this was all real… yet afraid that it would all slip away if she moved too quickly.
The very second Diana felt the soft skin of Akko’s hand in hers, her entire body filled with warmth, and her eyes had suddenly begun to sting, herself overwhelmed with joy.
Diana felt a soft thumb wipe away a tear, only to cup her cheek. She then stared into Akko’s alluring red irises, and slowly felt herself drawn towards them, slowly getting lost within.
Before she knew it, soft lips pressed against her own, and the whole world, once again, faded away.
Outside of the Cavendish Estate, at least a hundred people were seated, waiting for the ceremony to start. Rows and rows of chairs were lined up into two separate aisles, and pink and light blue lilies floated overhead, all thanks to Constanze and Jasminka.
Music played around the courtyard, setting up the sort of light, yet romantic, atmosphere Diana and Akko both said they wanted.
The sky was perfectly clear too, with not even a single cloud floating overhead.
It was, probably, the perfect time for an outdoor wedding, just like Akko had wanted.
… There was just… one problem.
“Amanda! You said you brought Diana down to Akko right?” Hannah scolded.
“Yeah, of course I did!” Amanda said. “Do you really think I would have let that mess walk through the house alone?”
“Then where are they?!” Hannah asked. “Akko’s parents have been wondering when the ceremony is going to start! And I don’t know what to tell them because it was supposed to start ten minutes ago!”
“Look, I brought her to meet with Akko at the entrance, and Lotte, Sucy, Andrew, and I gave them their privacy, just like we all planned!” Amanda said. “Good thing we left too, cause I swear those two were about to-” Amanda’s eyes shot open “-you dont think…”
“By the Nine, of course that’s what they’re doing!” Barbara groaned. “Jeez, they really are like-”
“Edgar and Arthur yes!” Lotte gushed.  After a quick second, however, she suddenly stopped, and her eyes widened, clearly in fear. “Wait, no this isn’t good.”
Sucy just started snickering behind everyone.
“Of course those idiots would do something like this.”
“Well, I suppose one of us will have to go and get them,” Andrew cut in. Amanda then saw him stare right at her, a twinkle in his eyes. “And I do believe that job should go to the best man, or woman as it were.”
“What?!” Amanda screamed. “I don’t wanna see that!”
“Just earlier, you were checking Diana out in the dressing room,” Hannah quipped. “I’m pretty sure you wanna see that.”
Amanda glared at Hannah, but all she got was a shrug and a chuckle. She then slumped, and peeked outside.
The guests were beginning to talk, wondering where the happy couple was. Thankfully, none of them were really mad, they did all know who Akko was, after all, but… who knows how long that would last.
Then Amanda caught Jasminka, looking back at her from the front row, and she immediately felt a shiver run down her spine.
“Fine,” Amanda groaned. She took her wand out from the inner pocket of her jacket and opened it up. “The things I do for those two.”
Amanda made her way back to the entrance hall, hoping that maybe, just maybe, those idiots were still stuck staring into each other’s eyes. Hoping that maybe she wouldn’t walk in on them... for probably the second time in her life.
She knew it was pointless, but, still, a girl could hope.
Amanda stopped in front of the wooden doors and took in a deep breath, preparing herself for what was inside.
“Yo! What are you guys doing?! Akko, your parents are wondering where the hell you two ar-” Amanda immediately froze when she saw Diana pinned against the wall, Akko’s hand tangled in tousled blonde hair, and the look of horror on the, apparently extremely, happy couple’s faces.
“... Jeez you two, I’m all for breaking the rules, but I’m pretty sure you can’t have the honeymoon before the wedding.”
“Yera Retoure!”
Light flew out from Amanda’s wand, encircling both Diana and Akko. Instantly, the reversal spell returned their clothes - disheveled from their… ‘activities’ - back to their original state.
“Please do not tell anyone about this,” Diana pleaded, her face absolutely scorching, as she, Akko, and Amanda made their way outside.
“Oh trust me Di, everyone already knows,” Amanda said. “And those who don’t can definitely put two and two together when they see the marks Akko left on your neck.”
“What?!” Diana screamed. She immediately reached into her pocket to grab her phone to use as a mirror. When she saw small dark marks scattered all around her neck, she nearly fainted, overwhelmed by the mortifying embarrassment that filled her being.
“Don’t worry! I can fix it!” Akko immediately cheered. “Tiosel Sol Aré!”
Diana felt herself engulfed in a warm, soothing light, and one by one, each offending mark faded away.
Diana let out a sigh of relief, as she inspected herself to find that, thankfully, Akko’s spell had worked completely.
“Thank you so much Akko,” Diana said, turning to send a smile towards her fiancée.
“No probs!” Akko answered, a bright smile on her face. Almost instantly, however, that smile grew more impish, sending a tingle down Diana’s spine. “Besides, there’ll be more of those tonight!”
“Akko!” Diana quickly scolded, and Amanda burst into laughter in front of them.
“At least you’re leaving it for tonight,” Amanda chuckled. “Now let’s go! Everyone’s waiting.”
The ceremony went by in a blur.
Just as they had rehearsed countless times, Akko and Diana’s entourage walked down the aisle first, Diana’s on the right and Akko’s on the left.
Then, Akko and Diana walked down the aisle, hand-in-hand, as Akko's parents guided them towards the front where Professor Ursula stood, ready to officiate their wedding.
All the while, Akko and Diana focused solely on each other. Hands joined together, as they gazed into each other's eyes. Diana marveling at the bright light of joy radiating off of Akko's smile. Akko lost in the warm love held within Diana's crystal blue eyes.
“Now, it's time for the couple to exchange a few words. Akko?”
Then, before they knew it, the stage was theirs.
Akko felt Diana squeeze her hands, saw Diana’s smile soften, and her heart filled with a familiar warmth. A warmth that could make any day better, one that enveloped her and made her feel safe. Just like a hug from her dear fiancée.
Akko took in a deep breath and let that warmth guide her.
“Diana, I… when we first met, I… I never thought that we’d even really be friends. You were perfect in so many ways and could do everything I couldn’t. It was… really frustrating. Then there were all the times you scolded and lectured me! I thought you were so mean… but I, I was wrong.”
Akko paused, her voice having begun to crack. She shut her eyes and let out a shaky sigh, trying to calm down.
“You… weren’t anything but nice. You were always looking out for me, trying to make sure I didn’t get hurt. You were always just… taking care of me. And when I’m with you, I just feel so safe, so happy. I… everyday is fun with you, and you help me be the best me I can be! I.. always want to feel like this. To be with you.”
Akko looked back into Diana’s eyes, which were also moist with tears. Akko chuckled and reached up to wipe a drop from the corner of Diana’s eyes. “I know that I can’t keep talking about everything I love about you… cause if I did we’d be kind of here forever… but I love you so much. And I hope I can keep doing whatever it is that makes you want to keep me by your side.”
Diana stood still, locking her jaw in place and trying desperately to hold back the tears that were threatening to flood down her face. The only things keeping her together were Akko’s hand gently caressing her cheek and the face splitting grin on Akko’s face, as her fiancée also tried to fight back her own tears.
“Akko, I… I love you too. Far more than I could ever hope to put into words,” Diana said, as she leaned into Akko’s hand. “So forgive me for making this brief… but otherwise, just as you said, we would all be here forever.
As a child, I allowed the weight of my own responsibilities to pull me down, letting it slowly dull the color of my world. And then you came into my life, blindingly bright and full of vibrant colors. It was… distracting. Irritating. It showed me just how colorless I’d allowed my life to become… how the wonder I used to have for the world had just faded away. And I could not stand it, so I tried to run away from you.
But, no matter what, you found me. You, you brought color back to my life. You let me experience that sense of wonder once again, experience the joy of being a child, at least every once in a while. I’d… always assumed I was destined for one thing, and one thing only, but you showed me that I didn’t have to let that destiny shackle me from reaching out for other things.
You’ve given me a world of unlimited possibilities Akko, and I cannot thank you enough for that. A world where I don’t always have to be strong, a world where I can do anything I wish. And, truly, with every fibre of my being, I always hope… that I can do the same for you. No matter the cost, I swear that I will always be by your side when you need me most.” Diana finished, her tears falling down her face.
It was quite clear Akko wasn’t doing much better.
Diana smiled and took out the handkerchief from her suit. First, she used it to wipe away the tears from Akko’s eyes, and then did the same for herself.
When the two looked at each other, eyes red and puffy from tears, but their lips still smiling, full of love for one another, they both completely regretted the fact that they were not allowed to kiss until the very end of the ceremony.
“And so… Akko,” Diana said, doing her best to wrap up her final part, as quickly as possible. She removed the brooch from her lapel and held it on Akko’s dress, right above her heart. “Would you do me the great honour of joining my family?”
Akko bit her lip and nodded furiously, causing Diana’s heart to melt.
“Very well,” Diana said. She pinned the brooch onto Akko’s dress and smiled. She then turned to Professor Ursula and nodded. “You may continue.”
Professor Ursula smiled, wiping a tear from her eye.
“Understood. The rings?”
“Of course,” Andrew said, as he and Amanda walked up towards Akko and Diana. “You two look a mess.”
Akko and Diana both looked at Andrew and Amanda and struggled to hold in their laughter when they saw just how red their eyes had become.
“So do you,” Akko said, allowing her and Diana a moment to chuckle. “The both of you.”
Andrew just rolled his eyes while Amanda laughed alongside Diana and Akko. They both took out a ring from their respective suit pockets and gave them to the couple, Andrew to Akko and Amanda to Diana. The two then walked back to their spots beside each to-be spouse.
Akko and Diana both turned back to each other, and they slipped the rings onto each other’s fingers.
“And now, could the couple please clasp each other’s left hand?”
Akko and Diana both reached out, and with the clack of their new rings, held their hands together. Diana looked down and smiled, looking at the bright blue string on Akko’s wrist, one to match the red on her own.
“Very good, now may we please have the ribbons?”
Lotte and Sucy, as well as Hannah and Barbara, walked up to the front of the aisle, holding two red silk and two blue silk ribbons, respectively.
Hannah and Barbara began to wrap the blue ribbons, starting from Diana’s forearm down to Akko’s. Lotte and Sucy did the same with their red ribbons, wrapping it above the silk blue ribbons, beginning from Akko’s arm down to Diana’s.
Professor Ursula finished the job, pulling out a purple ribbon from under her sleeve and wrapping it around Akko and Diana’s hand.
Akko and Diana looked at their hands, smiling all the while as they felt each other’s heart beating in time with their own. They then gazed back at each other and giggled, finally, officially, tied together in life.
Professor Ursula stood straight up and placed her hand atop Akko’s and Diana’s.
“May the Nine witches, both old and new-” Professor Ursula winked “-bless this wedding. May you two be blessed with a long, happy life, full of the love you both share… and by the power vested in me, by both the country of England and the Council of Magic, I now pronounce you two officially married!”
The second Professor Ursula announced those words, Akko leapt up into the air, in time with her jumping heart, cheering out in celebration along with the crowd.
However, the second she landed, her foot slipped, and she fell backward onto the grass, pulling Diana along with her.
Akko looked up to see Diana, just inches above her, surprised and in shock.
And as the crowd joined together in a chorus of laughter, causing Akko’s face to heat up with embarrassment… she could only really say one thing.
“I, uh,” Akko giggled, “It looks like I fell for you!”
Diana sputtered, before breaking into a chuckle of her own. She shook her head and rolled her eyes in amusement.
“You are such a silly girl.”
Akko looked into Diana’s eyes and grinned, her wife’s giggle causing her heart to stampede in her chest.
“But I’m your silly girl right?”
And Diana’s heart skipped a beat. Her eyes quickly darted down towards Akko’s lips, and she smiled.
After all, the formalities had concluded, and the ceremony simply needed one last act to be completed.
She quickly leaned down pressing a kiss upon her wife’s lips, and her entire body filled with warmth as that thought rang through in her head.
Akko was her wife. And she was Akko’s. Officially.
Finally.
Diana lifted herself up and couldn’t help but laugh at the dazed look on her wife’s face. She then leaned back down, to the side of Akko’s head, and whispered a wish.
One she sincerely believed would come true.
“Of course, Akko. Now, and forever.”

adventure, dianakko week 2018 diakko | little witch academia
akko took a deep breath, placed her hand on the first crevice her eye found, and with a final mental push she hefted herself up. the next grip was easy enough to locate—throwing a grin over her shoulder at the blonde witch waiting to follow her up, she said, “see! this is easy-peasy, you were worried over nothing, diana!”
“don’t get ahead of yourself, akko, there’s a long way up to the field.” the warning went through one ear and out the other, though. diana thought of her broom, wished she could just use it now, but akko had insisted they get the flowers for sucy the ‘old-fashioned way.’ of course, going by broom was the old-fashioned way for diana’s family—her whole family an example of witch tradition—but akko wouldn’t accept that answer. still, she had it attached to her back with one of constanze’s simple straps.
she had seen it in a movie once, she insisted, of a heroic adventurer scaling a mountain, and good golly was she going to have that experience! and, though she denied its part in her decision adamantly, she still wasn’t very good at flying, and as of late her cheeks flushed whenever she wrapped her arms around diana to fly on her broom. even the thought made her cheeks heat up. she was glad to be in the lead so diana couldn’t look back and spot her red face.
“what does sucy need this flower for?”
“uhh…”
diana frowned, fingers wrapping around the neck handhold. “did you bother asking or did you just accept her errand without second thought?” they were more than halfway, making good progress, but her eyes kept drifting up towards akko’s climbing form. she wished the witch had worn something other than her school uniform; the skirt covered very little from this angle. diana told herself she was flustered from the indecency of it, hoped akko wouldn’t look down and catch her eyes.
“i asked! i just… don’t remember…” and she had asked, she was pretty sure, but sucy had started using confusing words in phrases she couldn’t piece together, so eventually she just asked for clarification on the description of the flower itself and went on her way. it should be easy enough, sucy had told her, because there were hundreds in the field.
what sucy hadn’t told her, and what akko discovered as her head peaked over the edge of the cliff, was that there were lots of strange-looking animals munching on the petals spread along the field. “hey, diana, what are those?” at her voice, their ears perked up, large snouts turning in the witches’ direction.
diano maneuvered next to akko, tired from the climb and curious to see what ingredient sucy required for whatever potion she was newly brewing, when her eyes caught the animals and widened. “akko… don’t move.” carefully bracing one arm on the edge, she reached back to grab her broom, ignoring the huff from akko. “okay, a handful of flowers on three and then jump off the cliff.”
akko’s eyes widened but she nodded, eyebrows drawing together in determination. diana began the count and, on three, akko pulled herself up onto the field.
when she did, the animals shifted, pawed at the ground in warning, huffing dangerously. the brunette hesitated for a moment and it took that moment to lurch forward. “akko, run, now!” diana yelled. the voice snapped akko into action and she ran forward, reaching down to grasp a bunch of the soft yellow flowers. turning back, she looked for diana’s head peeking over the edge, but saw nothing—
akko had no time to doubt the other witch’s plan, though, with the beast charging for her. with a leap of faith, she ran and planted a foot at the very edge of the cliff, pushing off and flying into the open air. she wished for a moment that they had just flown, even if that meant hanging upside down from her own broom or blushing furiously as she held diana.
she didn’t have to run scenarios in her head for long; diana, who had jumped and readied herself on the broom when she told akko to run, swept beneath her, catching the witch with ease. “can i tell you i told you so?” the blonde asked, directing their course towards luna nova.
akko didn’t answer and instead shifted from sticking her tongue out at the frustrated animal to wrapping her arms more tightly around diana. the two witches flew into the sunset, flowers gripped tight in akko’s hand, both with pink cheeks and warm hearts.
“thanks for coming with me, diana.”

“Hey, Diana?”
Diana looked up from her book from her place on the couch to send a questioning glance at her girlfriend. “Yes, Akko?”
“Come here.”
“What? Why?”
“Come ooooon, just do it!”
Diana closed her book with a sigh, placing it on the couch beside her before standing up and casually walking over to stand in front of Akko. “What is it?
Akko smirked as she bent down and looped her arms under Diana’s legs and lifted her up in one swift moment. Diana shrieked in surprise and instinctively latched onto Akko like a gorilla.
“A-Akko!”
Akko simply laughed, and Diana began to blush slightly and loosened her hold, keeping her arms wrapped around her girlfriend’s waist. “And what, may I ask, was the point of all that?”
“To impress you with how strong I’ve gotten!” Akko said, tightening her muscles (she couldn’t exactly flex in this position). Diana had to admit that Akko’s sleeveless hoodie did give her a marvellous view of Akko’s impressive biceps and had to suppress another blush. Akko noticed of course, and, after giggling a bit more, raised her head to touch Diana’s nose with her own.
“You’re so cute.”
Diana smiled as she closed the distance between them, taking Akko’s lips with her own, an action that Akko was quick to reciprocate.

Heart's Remedy
Series: Little Witch Academia
Characters: Akko, Diana
Words: 1,169
Genres: Drama, Romance
Trigger Warning: Character death
A/N: Takes place during Episode 20, after Akko saved Diana and got poisoned.
Hey, an update. How rare!
Honestly, this week was the worst I had in years, so it ended up affecting this story more than I thought.
HAPPY DIANAKKO WEEK! PREPARE TO CRY! MUAHAHAHA! @dianakko-week
Heavily inspired by the RWBY fix-fic “Soulbound”. Go read it, it’s better than the actual series ^w^
Day 4 & 5: Protection/Working together and Enchanted/Spellbound
Heart’s Remedy
“Akko… you were right about me, about everything,” Diana said softly while stroking her fingers through the messy locks of Akko’s hair. “I really do love Luna Nova with all of my heart. It was never a place I could abandon so easily.”
There was no response. It was not like Akko to be so still, so quiet.
“Have I ever mentioned that I adored Chariot as well?” she muttered with a light chuckle. “There was never a good moment to disclose with you… or rather, I was afraid to.”
Silence. Her thumb brushed an unmoving brow before sliding down to cup a cold cheek. The eerie frigidness of Akko’s skin startled her. Had she always been this cold? No, she was always so warm, energetic, and full of life…
“There was so much I wished to share with you. S-so much that I… I am thankful to you for…”
Again there was nothing but silence.
“Akko,” she whispered, lips trembling as tears stream down her face. “Please, wake up…. please, open your eyes.”
But she wouldn’t.
Because Atsuko Kagari was dead.
Never to wake up, smile, or laugh ever again.
Realization clawed at Diana’s mind, but it didn’t register. All she did was kneel beside Akko’s body as her thoughts raced through every possibility. How did this happen? What went wrong?
She glanced upon Akko’s lifeless face in hope of gleaning some sort of explanation. Anything. But there was nothing. Nothing but the pale visage of a life that once was.
Had Diana made a miscalculation somewhere? She couldn’t have - her medical skill was flawless.
She slowed the course of the venom with a healing spell. She administered a potion made with all the necessary ingredients. Surely, the damage done to Akko’s body wasn’t too great considering she was still breathing afterwards. She was still alive.
So how did Diana fail?
Did something happen during the brief moment Akko’s heart was still beating to when it suddenly stopped?
What did she overlook? How, with all her skill, experience, and hard work, did she allow this to happen? Of all times to fall short of an endeavor, why did it have to be now? Why did it have to be Akko? Why…
Why did Akko have to die?
She has always been such a troublemaker, Diana thought through blurry tears. Honestly, if only she could channel as much energy when it came to her studies.
But were those reasons enough to justify her death?
No. She never deserved this. All she ever wanted was to spread the wonder and joy of magic, just as Chariot did.
Even in her last moments, she hadn’t been thinking of herself. The only one she was worried about; the person she was so fighting desperately to rescue was…
…Me.
Even as the poison was eating away at her, Akko was crying out for Diana. With her final breath, she muttered Diana’s name over and over again, pleading for her not go away. Begging her to stay by her side.
And now it was Akko who lay dead, while the girl she protected breathed uselessly over her.
This is all my fault.
Diana wrapped her arms around Akko.
I let her die.
She buried her face into Akko’s chest.
I killed her!
Her tears were soaking into Akko’s uniform. Her shoulders shook as her body became wracked with sobs.
“Akko…” her voice cracked, crumbling beneath the weight of her grief. Her muffled sobs had become screams to better lament the unfairness of it all. “Akko! Akkooo!”
She wanted her to open her eyes so she could gaze into those lovely, brilliant browns again!
She wanted to hear more of that ridiculous, silly laughter that brought her world life!
She wanted more of those sing-songy speeches about Shiny Chariot, which she once considered tiresome but she now found to be utterly charming!
But more than anything, she wanted to tell Akko that she loved Shiny Chariot, too!
She wanted to share with her those lofty dreams of magic and wonder!
She wanted to be distracted by those things she loved and enjoyed with Akko and their friends!
She wanted to be with her forever!
She wanted Akko back!
So, please… wake up! Please don’t leave me all alone!
The Shiny Rod began glowing suddenly, each of the seven stars flickering one by one in resonance to Diana’s wish. They manifested as golden streams of light that coiled themselves around the forms of Diana and Akko’s body.
All at once, the lights bathed the two in a divine radiance that chased away the surrounding darkness. Though her eyes were closed, Diana can feel the golden light engulfing both of them.
Everything started to come together. Every thought, every feeling, every memory she’s ever had for Akko; all of it overflowed and caused the light to flare out in a burst of immense magic.
With a steady breath, with just one word…
“Resanae.”
The light grew much stronger than before, coating Akko’s body in a fervent, yet, gentle warmth.
For a moment, there was nothing. But then, Diana could feel a faint flutter beneath Akko’s chest.
One beat. Two beats. Then three.
The magic worked its course, replenishing both what her body and her soul needed. Blood restarted their flow; cells began to regenerate; colour returned to her skin.
Four beats. Five beats. Then six.
Her first breath was a gasp, followed by quicker, shallower breaths. It was the most beautiful sound in the world, matched only by the soothing rhythms of Akko’s heart.
Akko was alive. Her breathing was erratic, as were her heartbeats, but she was alive.
“Akko…” Diana whined between hiccups.
After much, much too long, Akko finally opened her eyes, revealing those gentle browns Diana thought she would never see again. Her eyelids fluttered weakly as a painful groan escaped her throat.
“…D-Diana…?”
“Akko!”
Upon hearing her voice, Diana pulled Akko into a tighter hug than before.
“Diana…”
With what the little strength regained, Akko barely managed to return the embrace, wrapping her arms around the small of Diana’s back.
They simply breathe without saying anything else. Diana quietly reveled in all the signs that she succeeded; the feeling of Akko’s chest rising and falling against her own; the familiar, comforting warmth emanating from Akko’s body…
There was something else. Akko was trembling as her fingers dug lightly into Diana’s cloak. She was now crying, wailing out Diana’s name.
“D-Diana… Dianaaaa…”
“Akko…”
Diana pulled back slightly to kiss Akko on the cheek, hoping it would ease her tears.
For a while, they cling desperately to one another, never letting go once. They whispered each other’s names over and over again between tears and light kisses.
“Diana… thank you. Thank you so much…”
“Akko…”
Diana brought Akko back. She did what no one else could. Akko was alive again and she would not let her go until she was sure it stayed that way.
She would never let go of her ever again.

StarStruck Wishes:
“When you wish upon a star… Makes no difference who you are…”
A lone figure sat by the hill, basking in the dusk glow of the late afternoon sun, the first few twinkles, sparks of night lights shining overhead, adorning the girl with a floating crown of celestial bodies. An illusion, a magical one, made without the aid of magic, surprisingly. It was simply a deception by perception. And this perception just so happened to belong to one daughter of elegance, a six-year-old Cavendish child.
“Anything… your heart desires…” Red rubies suddenly flickered in the low lights, gaze boring into deep sea blues. “… will come… to you.”
Diana Cavendish was captured, enraptured, mesmerized. The beauty so ephemeral scared her, along with so few simple words.
“Yeah right.’ The other concluded before running, disappearing into the distance, a mystery of a sad smile painted on her lips.
 “Wait-!”
---------
As sudden as the thunder crashed and the lightning flashed, so was the awakening of a young heiress, finding herself swiftly sitting up, breathing ragged and heart speeding up in its work. With wide eyes, she immediately made sense of her surroundings. She was in her new dorm room, the one she shared with her best friend, a girl, Atsuko Kagari for their senior year at Luna Nova Academy.
Having grown a bit too accustomed to the other girl’s presence, Diana now sought it, her hands blindly patting down the spot beside her on their shared queen-sized bed, frantic in her actions, panicking as she neither saw her companion, nor felt her presence at all in the room.
Needless to say, in her state of vulnerability, Diana needed it, needed her.
Despite all talk of best friends, and friendship and loyal camaraderie, there was no doubt in Diana’s young mind and heart that she hoped for more from their relationship. Something that could blossom. A romance.
But now, companionship and comfort of a friend were certainly things she needed, putting mushy thoughts aside. She just needed the simple knowledge that someone was there. Just there for her, by her side.
Especially after that nighttime memory- was it a memory? Or was it simply an uncontrolled form of imagination?
This… This dream. It recurred quite often nowadays. Supposedly not a frightening nightmare, nevertheless it haunted Diana all the same, even more than any terrorizing dream she’d had to date.
This past week, it lingered, a troublesome thought. Red, red, constraining eyes. They burned themselves into Diana’s memories.
She wanted to meet the girl, to take away the sadness and return the stars in her eyes. Diana wished to.
Yet she couldn’t. How could she? When she didn’t even know who the person was.
Weak and alone in the dark, the only lights being the flashing streaks of pure power and wrath of nature outside the window painted with the tears of clouds, Diana found her way into a fetal position, hugging her knees to her chest as she listened to the grand orchestra of midnight storms.
In her fear, she failed to take notice of the one she sought after, the brunette with the lopsided grin, walking into the room with- not one, but two mugs of deliciously comforting hot chocolate.
In her maze of thoughts, Diana jolted in surprise as she felt herself encompassed in the most soothing of embraces, warm and strong. Protective. Akko’s scent that could only be hers almost lulled Diana to sleep, along with her rocking back and forth.
Akko, having placed down the mugs, now held the shivering Diana, cheek rested atop the crown of her head, soft blonde curls tickling Akko’s nose.
“It’s okay. I’m here now.”
The words were all the reassurance Diana needed. That’s right, her friend was now back, and that consoling presence was all she needed.
“Mm.”
Feeling the smaller girl squeezing her tighter, Diana squeezed back, chuckling as Akko whispered little jokes into her ear, random words, nonsensical phrases. She missed the warmth as Akko created space between them for a few seconds, to pick up the mugs.
“Hot Chocolate?”
“Thank you.”
--------
Diana was incredulous as she was dragged down the freezing halls of Luna Nova at three in the morning. Yet, skeptical as she was, she couldn’t help but have fun in this turn of events- dashing down the poorly-lit corridors, hand held firmly in the person she most adored.
“Akko.”
“Hmm?”
“Thank you.” Diana squeezed the hand in hers, smiling back at Akko’s bright and cheery demeanor.
“Anytime for you.”
Her heart skipped a beat. Or two. Or three.
Luckily she could blame the redness of her skin on the evening chill that penetrated through their woolen blankets as they made their way outside, out from the welcoming doors, out into a field and trudging up a hill.
“Akko, what are we doing here?” Diana couldn’t quite help but ask, staring at the sturdy and reliable looking back of her beloved, the one who currently had her gaze to the stars as she shrugged.
“Maybe I just wanted to see some stars.” And there was something so interestingly familiar about the way Akko’s scarlet irises looked at Diana, the way they saw through her soul. “Thought it wouldn’t be too bad to let you tag along. I could use the company, if you don’t mind?” She finished, grinning sheepishly.
Oh, she certainly did not mind one bit, this Diana. In fact, she was overjoyed, truly grateful that Akko would try to do something like this for her to calm down, Diana knowing full well the smaller girl’s intentions despite her saying otherwise.
“Then I have no choice but to entertain you, isn’t that so?”
“Yep!” Akko replied, beginning to play along. “Thank you for gracing me with your presence, your excellency.” She bowed in a knight-ish manner that made Diana swoon, along with that carefree smile.
“Th-the honor is mine.”
Akko gave her a bright smile for that, and Diana’s heart lifted to the skies.
“Now, sensei!”
“-sensei?”
“Teach  me about stars!” Akko grinned, offering a hand to Diana again, the other pointing out to the bright heavenly bodies. “And do it romantically!”
Diana choked on her saliva.
---------
One star-study session later, and Diana felt it was time to go back. They certainly couldn’t stay out here and fall asleep on this grass, as romantic as that sounded. Getting wet, sick and chilly didn’t bode well with the heiress.
“Come on, Akko.” With that simple enough beckoning, the brunette followed, entwining their hands, fingers locking securely around one another.
“Yes, princess~”
As they made their way back to their room, Akko escorting Diana carefully, giggling as she found the girl sleepy, swerving along the way, and blushing embarrassed, Diana knew she wouldn’t trade these candid moments for the world.
In the warmth and safety of their shared room, under the protection of the covers, Diana lay with Akko beside her, the latter reaching over to switch off the lamp in their room, all ready for bed.
With the lights out and the calm outside, Diana did her best to shut her eyes and slow her breathing down, though to no success. Trying to change her position, she still found herself restless, physically exhausted, but mentally active.
A hand wrapped itself around Diana’s bicep, calling for her attention.
“Can’t sleep?”
Simply nodding in response, Diana made a little squeak as she felt herself pulled closer, heart suddenly thumping in her ears, face and body heating up as she now lay flush against Akko’s body, her head on her friend’s chest, arms wrapped protectively around her, shapes being drawn on her back and hair caressed gently.
Her mind immediately relaxed. And then it happened. Akko opened her mouth.
“When you wish upon a star…
Makes no difference who you are”
Suddenly, Diana’s breath hitched in her throat, eyes widening, listening closely. This song, this voice. It sounded similar, only with the evidence of maturity.. but… no way… so many years of longing looking and… just beside her… how could Diana not have seen?
“Anything your heart desires
Will come to you”
Diana immediately felt the urge to see Akko’s expression, what spirit would show through her gaze, through her honest eyes. No wonder their redness was something to behold, so intriguing, so familiar.
“If your heart is in your dream…” Akko placed her palm against Diana’s heart, looking upon the heiress with a particular fondness in her eyes, a smile playing on her lips. There seemed to be a hidden message in these gestures. “No request is too extreme.”
[Even a request to be by your side forever…]
“When you wish upon a star As dreamers do”
Akko and Diana were certainly dreamers. And Diana wished that whatever signals she was getting, she hoped she was getting right.
“Fate is kind. She brings to those to love
The sweet fulfillment of Their secret longing”
Each word hit her deeply, engraving itself into Diana’s own being.
“Like a bolt out of the blue-“
Akko came into her life just like that. In an odd manner, but not unappreciated.
“Fate steps in and sees you through”
There was a pause in the air, the phrase left hanging as Akko gazed into Diana’s eyes.
“Tell me… Diana.” So close did Akko lean, forehead bumping against Diana’s, noses nuzzling. “What should I do?”
Diana replied:
“When you wish upon a star…” She breathed out. “What happens Akko? If I wish upon a star tonight?”
The smile that graced Akko’s lovely complexion was nothing short of breath-taking, glowing, shining like a star. Akko was indeed a star. And a dream. Diana’s dream.
“My dear Diana…” With her response in mind, Akko leant in close to Diana’s ear, kissing her cheek along the way, her voice softer than a whisper.
[“Your dreams come true”]
Diana wished upon the star. To give her her confidence. She was now ready to say it.
Hand on Akko’s face, she took a deep breath.
“Akko, I-“

Diakko Week Day 6
@dianakko-week
I tried posting this earlier, but I think tumblr did a weird and didn’t let anyone see it.  Anyways, have my Stars/Space prompt.
Also read here on AO3
“Noctu Orfei Aude Fraetor!  Shiny Arc!”
Akko screeched as she feigned her demise, writhing as she fell to the carpeted floor.  She had to make this death as dramatic as possible, of course.  There was no other way.  Even marking her supposed death with a bleh noise.
The little blonde stood triumphantly, holding her crafted Shiny Rod in the air.  “Haha!  No evil can stand the amazing power of-”
“Bernadette Megumi Kagari-Cavendish.”
The young girl standing atop her perch flinched as she and Akko looked over toward the comment’s source.  “H-hey, Mum.”
“You should be in bed.”  Diana commented, picking her daughter up and placing her on the floor.  “And you.”  She directed toward Akko, who was still laying on the ground.  “You shouldn’t be encouraging this.”
Akko rolled her eyes before rising to her feet.  “C’mon, Di.  We were just having a little fun.  Is there something wrong with that?”
“No.”  Diana stated.  “But I would advise you to be aware of the time at which you’re playing these games.”  She said, gesturing toward a wall mounted clock.
“Oh?  Oh…”  Akko looked back down toward their daughter, looking between them with her little ruby eyes.  “I’m sorry, Bernie.  But your mother’s right.”
“What?” She pouted, throwing up the most precious face in her defense.
As much as she wanted to give in to that adorable puppy dog expression, she couldn’t.  Not with her wife looming over her in that terrible way she currently was.  “I’m so sorry.  But you gotta go to bed.  C’mere.”
Akko opened her arms for her little one to climb into.  And once she had her secured, she headed off towards her bedroom, followed closely behind by her beloved wife.
“Why do I gotta go to sleep now?”  Bernadette whined.
“Because sleep is important for a growing youth.”  Diana said, resting a hand on her daughter’s head.  “Besides, do you think your mother could do her performances if she didn’t get any sleep?”
“She’s right, you know.”  Akko commented just as they reached the young girl’s room.  “If you wanna be like me, you gotta get your rest.  Okay?”
“M’kay.” She mumbled, curling up to Akko as she did so.
Akko set her down on the bed, carefully adjusting every cover and pillow to how she knew her daughter liked them arranged.  Max comfort.  Once she was done, she looked over to her wife who had leaned over to leave a goodnight kiss on their little girl’s forehead, leaving her with the biggest grin on her face.  Akko smiled at the sweet moment, moving in to do the same.  But she couldn’t leave without one thing.  “Goodnight, my little cabbage.”
Akko turned off the deskside lamp and backed off, keeping an eye on her precious girl’s peaceful face as she drifted off to slumber.  She then joined her wife, waiting in the doorway just for her with a smile of her own.  Akko felt an arm wrap around her waist after she closed the bedroom door.
“So.  Playing Savior of Magic, were you?”  Diana said, keeping her voice low so as to not disturb their girl.
Akko let out a light chuckle, leaning over on her wife’s shoulder.  “Hey, you know how she is.”
“Indeed.”  Diana commented, drifting off into thought.  “She certainly idolizes you.”
“Yeah.  Makes you think.”
“About what?”
“About me, when I was younger.  About how I idolized Chariot like I did.  About that first year of Luna Nova.”
Diana hummed in agreement.  “That certainly was a memorable year.”
“Yeah.”  Akko laughed.  “What was your favorite memory of that year?”
“Hm?”  Diana looked over to her wife with pleading eyes looking into hers.  “I’d say, standing atop the Shooting Star with you, being able to look down at the world like that.  It was… breathtaking, really.  I don’t believe there are any words to do it justice.”
“Yeah.”  Akko agreed.  “Watching the Shiny Rod return to the stars where it belonged.”
A moment of silence passed between the two as they reminisced, each thinking back fondly on that first year of school together.
“Akko?”
“Mm?”
“There is a clear view of the stars tonight.  Why don’t we look at them together.”
“I’d like that.”
