once again i have so many feelings but its late so im just gonna say this:

the whole build up to matakara's wish was incredible to watch. i love that he is basically being bullied into bullying others so he can save himself. this little man has literally nothing to lose and one mission: to get rid of the fucking voices

i love all of this cuz it relates so well to his wish: "give me strength."

he feels that everything bad that has ever happened to him its because he was too weak to avoid or to fight. his apathy towards himself and his own weakness makes me so sad cuz it basically turned him into the people who are all the contrary from honkai people. his brother would not like this version of matakara. matakara's apathy can also seen in his voice and tone, specially when he says his wish. he doesnt yell it like arajin did in the 1st episode, theres no passion behind it. the passion he had towards getting stronger thanks to his brother and arajin is pretty much dead. yes it was a coping mechanism but he still put effort on it. he was passionate and fair about fighting. now he only wants to be strong enough to be in peace and pretty much lie down somewhere and disappear. idk when it did happen but this man got so real so fast

side note: now that his passion is dead and arajin is being nicer towards him (too late you short mf) i may remind the jury of the lyrics of the opening. its basically arajin trying to drag matakara to who he used to be i think

those “putting Damian on a team of superhero kids” concepts are cool in theory, but more often than not, they’re really just ways of shitting on him and making him look feral in comparison to “the nice hero kids” who are then tasked with civilizing him as if that’s not inherently racist. even worse is when he’s paired up in a duo with a white goody two shoes (cough Jon and Colin cough). and doubly worse is when there is no intention at all to give Damian character growth, he’s just used as a tool for shipping (this is 99% of the time).

I only read a bit of Gotham Academy, but I fully do see the appeal in having Damian hang with them, and be proper friends with Maps because that’s like one of the rare times another kid is friends with Damian, and they just accept his weirdness and don’t expect him to get fixed or “civilized” for them. or with Maya, in which there was conflict, a resolution, and growth for both sides and she actually helped Damian develop positively without putting him down.

Imagine shunsui’s pregnant s/o walking to Jushiro’s gravestone.

They know that Shunsui is “sitting down with him” and talking about soul society, post tybw and a baby on the way.

Before he was going to mention the ladder, he saw you walking towards the site. Your hand lays atop your belly.

He smiles and calls out your name and pats the open space next to him. You sit down in front of him rather than next to him; He wonders why you’re here. You rub your cute belly and look at Jushiro’s gravestone.

You ask him for permission to be the godfather/uncle of your unborn baby and shunsui is surprised. You continue to talk to him: life after the war, shunsui’s antics lol, Nanao and Rukia…as if he’s here with you, shunsui and the unborn baby.

Shunsui was just speechless watching you talk to his best friend.

After the talk, you apologize to shunsui for interrupting but he waved it off. He walks towards you smiling and leans down to kiss your lips softly. You get up and his hand is on your belly and decides to go for a walk where him and jushiro used to relax during the their free time.
