*Maverick, Merlin, Hollywood, Wolfman, Slider, and Iceman in their bunk room with some “medicinal” alcohol after saving the SS Layton*
Slider: You’re telling me you’ve never broken the sound barrier? Not even on accident?
Maverick: Nope. I’ve stolen a jet and buzzed seven towers now but I have never broken the sound barrier
Merlin: How do you accidentally break the sound barrier???
Hollywood: It’s a lot easier to do than you’d think
Wolfman: What about you Iceman? Ever accidentally broken the sound barrier?
Slider: Who do you think he is, some amateur? He would never break the sound barrier on accident
Iceman: Yeah, I only ever break the sound barrier on purpose
Maverick: *chokes on his drink*

"Did that happen?"
"Not everything Louis says is a lie!"
I had forgotten about this part.
Unfortunately I could only find this quality of the video, but it's a very interesting one indeed. It is also one of the first interviews they did, and even there they made it clear that not all would be ... the truth.
Or the whole truth, at least.

Sixteenth Day Event Prompt:
Sam can't get to sleep in the prison
This is such a waste of time.
Sam likes Pandora’s Vault.
It’s a simple thought. It’s a more simple thought than it ever had any right to be in the months, now more than a year, since its conception.
In some of those months, that concept—the liking—was too difficult to look at head-on. Maybe Sam lacked conviction. But no, he’s sure that was never the problem. There was something else, some different tremble to his limbs and shiver in his gut, something else that twisted his stomach into knots, something that made Sam wish he’d believed otherwise. But he knows he never did, just like he knows that every day he looked forward to Quackity’s visits. Perhaps it’s because he’s a harder man now that he’s facing down the real possibility of his own death.
Sam stares at the obsidian. When he’s finished with his books, with his pointless notes, and when the sound of his own voice has petered out, there is little else to do. In some ways, it’s fascinating. Harder than iron, harder than diamond. He built this cell: he did that. Every inch in here, wrought by him, for its all-consuming purpose. Every imperfection has been varnished to an unyielding finish. Every chip where a pickaxe or sword was wielded with imprecision is just another a facet in a jewel. The cauldron is clean, but Sam can see the shadow of the stains, like an opalescent sheen.
He leans against the corner of the cell and tries to sleep. In this spot, Dream is nearly, achingly, tangible.
There is no routine to chain him to his purpose. He is without purpose, within purpose, buried in the belly of his own beast.
He is hungry. His own beast has come to gnaw at him.
I am not an idiot.
——
Sam has sharpened his regrets into a crystalline clarity. Dream is not among them. What lies he has told and what acts he has permitted, in these walls and beyond them, has sent a message and has been in the service of a purpose Sam can never regret.
What had Dream felt, in that moment of betrayal? What had Dream felt when he was led into the prison, Punz at his back, Sam at his front? It’s dizzying to consider. Sam's never thought of it before.
Today, Sam reached for Dream and Dream stepped back. It only took a moment. What was so close at hand is impossibly far. What was impossible is within his grasp. Dream has struck him, exactly once, like a chastisement, but to Sam it felt like a vindication.
——
I am not the bad guy. Dream is the bad guy.
————
Sam wishes that Dream’s visits were announced by more than the pop of a pearl. He’s just as grateful that they aren’t, though, that the mechanisms of his machine have not been suborned, that at least one thing remains loyal to him. No bargains there.
He wishes he could see the bed beyond the lava. He thinks he could actually get some sleep there. Something about the sounds from that side always calmed him. It was solitude and reassurance all at once. He couldn’t hear Dream over the lava—not when he wasn’t screaming or hysterical—but the knowledge was enough.
————
I’m gonna die.
—————
Dream has gained weight.
It’s the first thing Sam noticed: the spare lines of him filled out, the gaunt angles in his face blunted. Not a bad look, though the sharpness of him, like a wolf, was always something Sam appreciated.
Sam can still see the marks on Dream, in the unevenness of his gait, the missing fingers, the scars on his skin. He can still see the wolf under the surface, animal in its hunger. Sam can still see what the Warden has wrought of him, the sculpted shapes underpinning the image of a man who is now free.
He never would have left Dream to starve. He never would have left Dream to Quackity. He didn’t, did he? He’s saved Dream. Every day in this place, over and over, he saved Dream. Dream didn't need to ask. Plenty of times, he spurned Sam, spat at him, threw his food and his comforts into the lava, squirmed away from his hands, his potions.
And the cell has been kept ready for him, and Dream has returned to it. It's almost enough to make Sam not feel lost. Dream is here. Dream is fine. Sam is fine too.
It’s coming towards a conclusion. Hurtling. Sam can feel it, maybe Dream can feel it too. The clock is inexorable. It’s his last night here: tomorrow this place will be Dream’s.
It’ll still be his, theirs.
—————
It’s almost time.

sam and dean in the bunker slowly realizing they can't hardly sleep in separate rooms anymore
they've been so used to having each other Right There. in the impala or their hotel room
and there are so many rooms in the bunker so there's really no need, but one night they break, and end up sleeping in the same room, and they just, never stop
also just, imagine the drama this would've caused in season 14 when all the refugees moved in

Obligatory eclipse ask! I think maybe he needs to take Sam on a fabulous date to the best view possible
*april 9 2024*
there is no way that gabriel would let sam watch this eclipse in any other way than 1000% over the top. sitting on the hood of a car? wearing those little paper glasses?? no. that is how the rest of the populus can “enjoy” this eclipse. sam is dating an angel. a freakin ARCHANGEL! Gabriel is going all out. jusst a touch of his grace and sam is the only human on the planet who doesn't need flimsy cardboard glasses to see the moon move across the sun. a snap of his fingers and sam is being hand fed his favorite snacks. by gabriel of course. a flap of his wings and they can watch the eclipse from any place they want. and no sam. you're not going to the civic center in lebanon. i don't care how many of the old ladies in town invite you to bingo. you don't owe them your gorgeous face. let your boyfriend spoil you. theres a secluded cabin in the smokey mountains that has his name all over it. there isn't another human for miles. the view is unobstrucked and the clouds have mysteriously blown overto reveal the bluest spring sky of the year.
there is a blink and you'd miss it moment where gabriel thinks sam has a bit of panic during totality. when the sun vnishes behind the moon it gets dark. unnaturally dark. the cold rolls up fast and its like you're in another world. gabriel can see sams face pinch at the edges, fear creeping in like the ice cold of the cage, and the faint cackle of archangels rattling around in his mind. it takes only a touch to pull him back, warm grace covering sam like a blanket. protecting sam from the things that haunt him. the hunter sighs, fingers intertwining with gabriels. it only takes another moment for the light to start to return. for sam to loosen his grip slightly and tug gabriel into his lap. he takes advantage of the mock twilight and their lips meet in a tender kiss.

Ikr! Especially because he was not technically supposed to survive possession. He was supposed to die in the fight so who knows what kind of side effects he's gonna end up with. Maybe he's left with some of Lucifer's tricks. Like he snaps his fingers once and the person next to him is instantly vaporized. That would be very fun for me personally
that would also be very fun for me <3 i love when sam is in pain and i think accidentally vaporising/killing someone with his powers would cause so much guilt for him, but also fear that dean will once again see sam as something to be hunted like he told him in s4. @supamerchant left some interesting tags about his emotions affecting his powers, so the more upset he gets with himself the more his powers fuck things up, a never ending feedback loop overwhelming him to the point where he'd do anything just to make it stop. and maybe his desire to make it all stop is fuelled by hallucifer taunting him that its his own grace left inside sam that's causing all of this, and sam thought being lucifers vessel was bad but having his grace linger in him might be worse.
i promise i do like sam i just like causing him pain ♥

One thing I've come to appreciate about going into a story after having sought out or seen spoilers is that to me, it doesn't ruin my experience of the story - it changes it. That doesn't apply to all spoilers, but I've been thinking about Penacony's biggest spoiler (really, the one that so many people saw, it wasn't even treated as a spoiler anymore long before it actually dropped. Which was shitty, but a different topic).
For some, knowing Firefly and Sam were the same person before the reveal might have soured their enjoyment of the story. But since HSR's quests aren't replayable, I ended up really appreciating knowing their identity in advance, because otherwise I don't think I could have noticed some things - like Firefly's occasional little slip-ups into her more professional side, or the one that marked me most was how in both Sam's conversation with Acheron and few words with the Trailblazer pre-reveal, you can hear Firefly in Sam's tone of voice in a way you couldn't before. It really gave me a new kind of appreciation for those scenes.
(I still wish the main quests could be viewed again, though.)

So far movie night had been going good. Everyone had been cuddled together on the couch they got to fit all of them, and the blanket had been placed over them.
The movie was going fine and everyone's attention was on the screen. Until Matt had taken his gaze off the screen to take a sip from his drink and instead of focusing his gaze back to the screen, found his eyes focusing, instead, on Something laying on the blanket. Something that looked like a Spider.
He squint his eyes, focused on the spot to see but the darkened room made it incredibly difficult to say for certain if it was a spider. It wasn't moving, just staying there and he didnt want to point it out incase he was wrong and freak everyone out which......was ironic considering the hell they went through on that mountain. The monsters they witnessed, they surely wouldn't be scared of an itty bitty spider.
"Hey Matt, are you ok?"
It was Sam's voice, he looked from where the supposed spider was to see everyone turning their heads at him.
"Uh yeah I just...."
His voice trails off and his eyes return to the bug.
"Not to freak everyone out....but I think theres a spider on the blanket"
"Is it a spider? I could just be a ball of cotton" Sam questioned.
He removed his hand from where it laid in Emily's and pointed to where it was with everyone following his finger.
Suddenly everyone was focused on it.
"I can't see, its to dark" Jess moved a bit trying to get a better look
"Oh my God, Chris!"
" Should I, should I just kick it?" Mike spoke up, shifting his feet under the blanket, moving it.
That action caused it to move, just a little, but enough, enough to confirm it was a spider and everyone froze, not knowing what to do.
"Oh my God, it's just a damn spider, we've seen and been through worse" Emily muttered quietly
"Ok then, you grab it" Josh spoke
"Like hell I'm doing that" she bit back shooting her eyes at Josh. "Oh come on it's like you said, we can handle a tiny spider" Josh responded with a slight teasing tone.
Before Emily could respond back, the spider moved again, it turned it body and faced Mike.
"Uh, I'm thinking I should kick it" he spoke quietly.
"That's not going to help-" before Sam could finish, the spider moved again and again before suddenly it seemed focused on Mike and making it's way over to him.
Sam never really would have guessed that 7 whole young adults would freak out, how Mike would panic, grab the blanket and throw it off him. How the spider wouldn't seem to give up so easily as it landed right next to Jess who quickly screamed and jumped up from her spot, followed by everyone else but her.
It was funny watching them all mutter and curse silently while patting themselves down for some reason as if they'd find a horde of spiders in their pockets. Meanwhile, the spider, which Sam remarks wasn't even that big, crawled around, up her sides, and rested on the top of her leg.
"Aw it's just a little bitty spider"
She couldn't help but smile and tease everyone's overreaction while the spider seemed comfortable relaxing where it was.

Killing me for mercy (fake fic title)
"Just do it."
Tara shakes her head, tears in her eyes. "No! No, I won't. I can't."
"You can," Sam implores, taking her hand. "You have to be strong, ok darling? Can you be strong for me?"
"I'm not strong," Tara sobs, collapsing into her sister. "I'm not like you, I can't do this."
Sam's arms wrap around her, holding her tight. "I'm so sorry babygirl, I never wanted you to be like me, I've never wanted that."
"Then why would you make me do this?" Tara cries into Sam's shoulder, clutching at her back. She digs her fingers in, memorises the way she feels against her body like it's the very last time she'll get to hold her.
The realisation that this will be the last time breaks her.
Sam feels the way Tara's legs give way, folding into her completely. She carries her sister down to the ground in her arms and closes her eyes in a vain attempt to prevent the tears that have begun to fall.
She doesn't want to leave, but she has no choice this time.
"I don't want to live like this," she whispers, face buried in Tara's hair. "Please Tara, every day I lose more and more of myself. If I hurt you..." Sam squeezes her sister hard. "I can't imagine anything worse than waking up to find your blood on my hands."
Tara yanks herself back, a fist smacking Sam on the shoulder. "That's what you're asking me to do! To live with- to be the- the one to- to... to lose you."
Sam's hand raises to cup Tara's cheek. "I'm selfish, I know. I want you to be the last thing I see. Not him, not some freak in a mask. Just you; my sun, my heart. Please." Sam reaches down without looking - she can't look away from her sister, not now - to pick up the abandoned knife, holding it out to her.
Tara's eyes flick down. "But- but what if there's something we haven't tried yet, something that can help," she begs, like she hasn't a thousand times before.
"There isn't." There honestly isn't. She's tried everything, everything. Does she think that she hasn't? As if she would ever make this decision for herself, for Tara, without knowing there was literally no other way to end this.
The medication stopped working long ago, there's no more hope. Not for her, not for them.
"I need you to kill me, Tara. I need you to put a stop to this, once and for all. It has to be you."

Would any Fear Street (1994) characters survive Dracula?
Inspired by @canyourfavesurvivecastledracula, but not wanting to overload their ask box any more than it already is (especially with characters they probably don’t know), I decided to analyze some of the Fear Street characters’ chances myself.
Deena:
Deena would say something rude and snarky to Dracula on the first night, and she’d be dead within two days. She wouldn’t accept the crucifix in the beginning either, but it wouldn’t matter, because she wouldn’t even make it to the point where she would need it. If, somehow, she manages to avoid pissing him off to the extent that he immediately kills her, she still dies because (when she eventually figures out how much danger she’s in) she tries to confront him directly instead of making a secret escape attempt. She’s got guts, but not a lot of patience, so she wouldn’t be willing to play the politeness game with Dracula, and it would cost her.
Josh:
Josh would be the first to figure out that Dracula is a vampire. He would accept the crucifix (although probably not wear it) out of politeness, and it would come in handy later when he puts the pieces together about vampirism and has a handy crucifix in his bag to help him out. If it was just Josh v Dracula, he could probably make it. He would explore when told not to, of course, because his curiosity about supernatural happenings is insatiable. However, he would be successfully lured and eaten by the girlies, and even if he somehow managed to get past that part, I just don’t think he has the physicality needed for the eventual escape.
Sam:
Out of everybody from 1994, I think Sam has the best chance of making it. She’s relatively friendly and polite (unlike a lot of other characters in that movie, who are just dicks) so she wouldn’t anger Dracula to the point of murder. As seen in the movie, she’s perfectly capable of playing nice with people she doesn’t actually like that much (see: her comp-het relationship with asshole Peter) so I think she could successfully be polite enough to Dracula that he keeps her around for a while before he’s ready to kill her, like Jonathan in Dracula canon.
She’d have been polite enough to accept the crucifix, and probably to actually wear it, so she’s good on that front. She’s smart enough to figure out what’s going on, or at least the bare bones of it, even if she doesn’t know all the details. She might be tempted by the brides, but I think that scene would go similarly to canon, where Dracula swoops in to save her and then she avoids the girlies from that point forward.
In fact, I think most of her time in Dracula’s castle goes the same as Jonathan’s. Maybe not the specific details, but the broad strokes would be the same. The only question is, would she have the physicality to scale the walls in that final escape? She’s a cheerleader, so we know she’s reasonably fit, but we’ve never seen her trying to climb. I think it could go either way. I’d give Sam a 40% chance of surviving, which is still far better than anyone else from that movie.
Kate and/or Simon: Kate refuses the crucifix, Simon accepts it but loses it somewhere along the way. Neither is polite or deferential enough for Dracula to decide to play the long game. He goes for a little nibble sometime, discovers the wonders of hard drugs from their bloodstream, and has himself a feast.
