I think Peter’s a camera nerd, I like when he’s actually into photography and not just taking selfies for the bugle
I like the idea of Harry being a little shit and hiring Peter for OsCorp press shoots and other stuff like that
I like the idea that Peter has a standard Nikon or Cannon (or both) and that the dork saves up for lenses and that Harry will buy him camera stuff as gifts
I like it when he has an Instagram just for his pictures bc of course he does
I like the idea that he just loves taking pictures of everything and Harry loves it and thinks it’s adorable that Peter has a million picture of park squirrels and wood stumps because they’re just so interesting to photograph Harry
And he loves his DCLRs but he’s also a pretentious film nerd
Just
✨Peter and cameras✨

I don’t have to be normal about that old man today. It’s my birthday. I can be weird about him. As a treat.

*scratching at the walls thinking about how no one has adapted Peter’s college arcs in a consistent and satisfying way.*
#coffee bean gang#spider-man#I was almost asleep but now I’m thinking about how there isn’t one piece of media out there that checks all the boxes#of adapting Peter in college + the coffee bean gang + doesn’t downsize the group or combine characters#+ does everyone in a decent way even if it’s not strictly comic accurate#raimi trilogy is one of the only ones that heads pretty quickly into the college era and also involves more than just gwen or mj#and as much as I like the films it does not handle the three of them in a way that scratches the itch for me#I mean for one it’s only Peter Harry and MJ. I like those three arguably the most but man the dynamic isn’t the same#especially bc Tobey’s Peter is much more serious and quiet/awkward with negative charisma (affectionately but still.)#MJ is mixed w Gwen’s personality which was disappointing to me bc I like MJ’s weird and super vibrant personality#and Harry loses some of the ‘kind of a sweet guy but very VERY fucked up’ and relies too heavily on Harry becoming the goblin for revenge#I sound super critical of the Raimi versions qhwjrjwkr I DO like them I do but it feels like completely alternate interps of the characters#most focus on spider-man’s origin which I totally get but also. Peter’s most interesting arcs happen in college#that’s why everyone has to adapt them into the high school years#(which they can do bc Peter was largely friendless during that time and was still fighting some truly d-tier guys#in between the forming of the famous spidey rogue gallery)#I mean I wouldn’t even complain if they chose to do the high school years and actually DID those instead of pasting the college arcs on it#I haven’t watch the 90s show but I want to— does Harry exist in that one bc I know they took out Gwen#at the risk of sounding like That kind of tssm fan. the closest we got to that dream was that show#bc they WERE gonna follow it into Peter’s college years and you could see them setting the gang up#it still fell into the ‘everyone is a childhood friend’ thing so the characters could all be there but it’s one of the most bearable ones

One of my toxic traits as a superhero fan is when adaptations make the villain connected to the hero’s origin I sometimes like it and sometimes don’t and either way I usually have no specific reasoning for my opinion other than Vibes.
#in most cases i actually do like it#the spider that bit peter parker being altered by oscorp a la ultimate comics? cool.#brainiac playing a role in krypton's destruction a la dcau and injustice? cool.#mandarin being directly or indirectly responsible for iron man's origin a la the 90s cartoon and mcu? cool.#magneto being responsible for professor x getting paralyzed a la first class? actually better than how it happened in the comics#doctor doom being involved in the fantastic four's origin? eeeh depends#i don't like the ultimate version or either of the movie versions where he also gets powers in the same incident#and also his skin is actually metal instead of wearing armor#that shit's lame#but i DO like the world's greatest heroes cartoon where he sabotages their mission by lowering their shields#and THAT'S what leads to them getting powers and also causes the explosion that scars him#way i see it if he HAS to be part of their origin the way that show did it was best#the only major example or the villain creating the hero where i NEVER like it is when joker is responsible for the wayne deaths#be it directly like in the tim burton movie or indirectly like that joker movie that didn't need to exist#like joker being responsible for batman's parents dying is just way too coincidental#some of those other examples are also kinda coincidental but they at least feel like natural connections to make#whereas joker creating batman is just forced#oh and sandman killing uncle ben in the raimi movies and black cat's dad killing him in spectacular for the same reason#the murders of the waynes and uncle ben both just work better when the killer is just some random crook whose identity isn't important#but yeah the rest of those examples are all perfectly fine with me lmao#shut up tristan

Otto Octavius is another telling of Icarus but is both Icarus and Daedalus.
We start by seeing him in the tower, he doesn't really like Harry and Oscorp but he's still there and doing what they want of him.
Then we see the wax wings, his actuators. Like Icarus when he gets to close to the 'sun' they fuse to his body and mind. Cementing what's happened and never letting him forget. Not to mention Rosie's death affecting him like how Icarus' death effected his father (kinda cause Otto and Rose married so yeh)
His infinite energy source is obviously the sun I mean- with how much he says 'the power of the sun, in the palm of my hands'? Yeah. And like Icarus to the sun he knows the dangers and yet keeps flying higher and higher to it aka rebuilding it even after the failed first attempt and realizing he'd messed it up.
Then we have Otto's death, drowning in the sea with his creations. Just as Icarus did when his wings could no longer work (Otto's actuators got malfunctioned and started listening to him again and such). Both plunging into the ocean below with eyes cast upward to what once was and could've been. If they'd just listened.

I feel like folks who argue Miles needs to lose his Dad in order to not cheapen the entire conflict of ‘trying to eat both cakes w/o consequence’ are like. a) treading the line of cynicism, and b) not recognising the fact that atsv already has Miles face the conflict of wanting two very disparate things and at the end of the day, having to choose the one that aligns with a version of yourself you can be proud of, even when that choice brings you grief and you can’t make it knowing things may eventually turn out okay.
Miles is forced to choose between inaction regarding fate (and also the support of his friends aligned with this position) and the action he believes is intrinsic to his mantle as a hero (and his love for his family). And at the end of the day, no matter the grief and pain, Miles has the strength to walk away from his friends and an ideological position he cannot contend with.
He’s willing to give them up, no matter how much it hurts, because the alternative with their support is unthinkable. He already knows the pain of being unable to have everything you want.

dean finally admitting he remembers hell but refuses to talk about it with sam, C-. willing to adjust based on what happens from here. minor credit for doing their heart to heart on a scenic boardwalk/dock/bridge instead of in the car.
after they completely ignored the fallout for sam of the mystery spot episode, my expectations have been lowered on addressing the trauma elephant in the room 😔

Order is going in on Oct. 1st, and I don’t know how many extras there will be after that point, so it’s safer to get one now! I’m not ordering a huge overabundance of them or anything, so be mindful of the date!

this may not be very coherent bc I have a narsty cold but it’s something I don’t see talked about much— I’ve been thinking about how much I enjoy the fact that Peter Parker/Spider-Man is kind of creepy. Like. I love that he’s got that freaky “teleport when you’re not looking” ability spiders have, the creepy crawling, the fast and unpredictable movements, the eerie stillness, the hanging, the warning that they’re around with entangling traps or even just dissolving cobwebs that let you know they’re in the area. the kind of animalistic, unnatural, disturbing parts of being a spider that makes spiders, and spider-man, so cool
