Guys I watched Kubo and the Two Strings recently and I love it! I am highkey in love with Kubo's parents, their story is so sweet and so romantic and so tragic 😭

What Do Wenwu And Ying Li See In Each Other?

I’m not trying to shame anyone who liked the film, but WHY did they fall in love, and what made that happen outside of Wenwu smiling at her during their fight?

Let’s analyse it step by step.

They fight each other, and when Wenwu pulls Ying into a semi-dance, she randomly gets a case of Strangled By The Red String, and smiles at him for no reason, even though he trespassed her territory, would’ve killed millions of people, including her family, but instead, she dances with him as the music score goes all “Here’s a happy song, that means they love each other now!”

2. Even after Wenwu turns a new leaf, they don’t SHOW us the couple slowly growing to trust each other, or talking about their likes, dislikes, cultures, etc, instead, we get a rushed and rapid-fire edited scene, that shows them in love, but doesn’t actually develop the relationship in a believable way, making it come across as ridiculously melodramatic, like a soap opera love story.

3. At least with Hanzo and Sariatu, it’s strongly implied that not only did Sariatu feel remorse over the years of serving Raiden, but he was indoctrinating her and her sisters all their life into believing that she had to be “Cold, and hard and perfect” assassins, and humans were power hungry, cruel, hateful insects that deserved to die.

So when Hanzo came along and after the fight, told her “You are my quest”, not only did it prove that he was a humble, kind, brave man that had no use for the armour and wanted to see her, but it showed Sariatu that people can CARE, not ALL humans can be painted from the same brush, and that Hanzo didn’t see her as cold warrior, but as a broken, emotionally abused young woman, who was WORTHY of love and a better life for herself.

Could I be reading too much into this? Yes, but these were feelings I’d had for a while, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on my analysis!

why do you ship agatha and kubo in the movies they never even met

Curious and unusual it may sound, why I ship Kubo and Aggie? Well, before we were obessing headcanoning the laika fam as chaotic adults

me and my friends @kpyeeper @shishiyos were also Kubo and Aggie shippers, because minus the fact that they haven't met, their chemistry still works in some ways:

1. Aggie and Kubo's time period- they're both belong on historical periods

2. Agatha likes to listen stories and Kubo makes one

3. If Kubo and Agatha met, it's a clash between two powerful beings, kinda ended the same scenario as Hanzo and Sariatu

4. Both lost and yearned for their Moms

5. They both had a very troublesome past and experiences

6: Aggie's a spirit and Kubo could see them on special occassions

7: Kubo could see his from from Agatha (beautiful, calm but dangerously fierce when necessary)

And there's a lot of reasons why!😊 so far it really depends on "what ifs" and has "underrated potential" for me

And besides I already made Aggie as Norman's cousin on my main Timeline here, where most of my drawings, she's alive and able to walk through spiritual and human world so that she could get included with the Laika fam💖

Ooh, you're doing the referenceless game too? How about Sariatu from Kubo and the Two Strings? 🙃

omg ok. So I’ve never heard of this character or fandom before and had basically nothing to go on. I wasn’t even sure what culture or etymology the name was related to, and I didn’t want to look it up in case I got hits for the character.

When I saw “two strings” all I could think of was an erhu, so I decided to base my drawing off that. I guess I assumed the character was from a fantasy story, so I went for kind of a fantasy-Chinese look (and probably ended up with some subconscious Thunderbolt Fantasy influence), although the actual outfit looks more Japanese than Chinese…. Also I’m so sad I didn’t think of giving my drawing a cool scar because I love cool scars and the real Sariatu has one 😭

Anyway, the character I drew ended up looking nothing like the real version, but I had fun! Hope you enjoy! 😊

Kubo and the Two Strings remains as one of my top favourite films of all time. But I don't think sending a direct ask to me is a fun way for me to engage with this sort of discussion. I would encourage you to make a post with your own head canons instead and open up the discussion to other fans rather than just solely relying on my response.
