Was chapter 243 really a SuHak confrontation? Mostly it felt like a heartbroken strategy meeting.
Hak was having a conversation. He asked questions, he made his heart run free. Hak expressed the sourness he had to swallow and drew his own conclusions.
Yet ...the main subject of his speech was Yona. He didn't open about his own feelings to Suwon, he didn't convey the expectations he projected upon him during the childhood, he didn't cry his abandonment trauma.
On the other hand...
Suwon was not having a conversation. He compiled a shopping list of informations, duties and necrologies and communicated them to his former best friend. And he could allow himself to act this way because ...he still trusts Hak.
Yet Suwon didn't open any emotional box. You cannot sense anything except that cryptical sorrow in his eyes, all of his feelings are still tightly bottled up.
This was half of a confrontation, both Hak and Suwon are suffering in silence again.
for bnha i don't know how far the finale is but this war arc can't be it? there's still too much need to happen. most importantly magic man's promised screentime is due. i can't wrap my head around how will Sako reappear in the story.
i was reading an article about video game localization and it mentioned something called "transcreation" where a game's text is created simultaneously in multiple languages instead of being simply translated from one source language to the others... it's true that pokémon games have been coming out internationally on the same date since X&Y, so it got me thinking. i do wonder if maybe the french localization team got more liberty on how to adapt the vibe, somehow? i'm sad that i can't speak other languages and can't look into it as closely... altho i'm trying to parse through lysandre's german dialogue rn and it does seem pretty close to the english translation as far as i can tell. it's really interesting...
I read Sayounara Eri and Look Back tonight (a mistake but one I do not regret) and I have come to two conclusions –
1. Fujimoto is absolutely NOT okay
2. He’s a fucking genius
Dude made me cry over two separate oneshots at the same time. His control of his pen is absolutely fucking amazing. His ability to put so much feeling into his art – even just a panel of two characters sitting on a couch – packs a whole ass punch. Both of these works are brilliant, and wouldn’t be near as brilliant if made by any other mangaka.
I am so fucking excited for Chainsaw Man part two.
