Happy 16th DF release anniversary!  While we don't have a release quite ready, work continues to go well.  Got some workshop art and evil/good/desert grasses in, and also some good progress on the music side.  In code land, I'm nearing completion of the keybinding screen and should be doing keyboard support after that.  As discussed in Future of the Fortress over the last few months, this'll cover designations and buildings at the very least, including making sure they still interact well with macros, but not all of the selectors on menus on the first pass.           I've also been collecting Scamps photos from my parents' devices to make sure I had them all.  Here are some baby photos I pulled off today:           Baby Scamps meets Giardia           Baby Scamps snugs           Baby Scamps vs shoe           Baby Scamps aloft           Baby Scamps vs hand           Baby Scamps plant nest

Steve gets a karaoke machine, and because he's a little bit of a dick, he decides that during the next pizza/ice cream/movie/karaoke night, he's doing a song just for Eddie. He stands in the middle of his living room, mic clutched in his fist, his friends and the kids watching him with anticipation. The music cues in and he starts belting, doing the most melodramatic rendition of I Wanna Know What Love Is right in Eddie's face. Eddie is baffled, then blushing, then laughing hysterically with everyone else in the room.

Steve brushes it off--it's a joke, mostly--and if it's anything else, only Robin knows.

The thing is, he can't stop doing it. He serenades Eddie with the same song for weeks, until everyone groans and complains. Eddie's reaction is always the same, but at his fifth performance, Eddie leaps from the couch as the chorus hits. Steve falters, but Eddie doesn't. He pulls Steve into his arms, dips him low, sings right back.

Steve and Eddie, who are both kind of dicks, kick off the next karaoke night by making the song the sappiest, most disgustingly in love duet. They sing until the jeers and laughter drown them out, until they both have a bucket's worth of popcorn stuck in their hair.

No one really minds that they'll have to hear Foreigner every week for the rest of their lives, though. Not with how Eddie and Steve can't stop looking at each other with love spilling out.

Tarn and Zack have posted sad news on the Development log.

It's miserable news but some of you will want to know.  On Wednesday morning, we took Scamps in to the vet after a sudden deterioration and it turned out to be widespread lymphoma.  He passed away Wednesday afternoon.  He was a good baby man and will be missed very much.           Scamps (2009)           Scamps (2022)
