Kloktober 2023, Day 6: Tragedy
Two teenage boys, Toki and Skwisgaar, live in uniquely different hells in the frigid Scandinavian Peninsula.
Near Lillehammer, Norway, Toki suffers severe abuse at the hands of his hyper religious parents, wondering every day if it’ll be his last day alive if his father wields the chains too hard. Outside of Rättvik, Sweden, Skwisgaar lives in the shadow of his promiscuous and narcissistic mother whose actions cause Skwisgaar unseen harm, whittling away his sense of value with each poisoned word she launches.
One morning the boys wake up in the other’s body, having switched while they slept.
At first assuming - and hoping - it’s just a bizarre dream, the boys begin swapping bodies regularly and they soon realize that this is reality and somewhere far away, another boy is suffering terribly. The two swear a solemn vow: That each will use their skills to help the other escape the torment that is their life and once they’re both free, they’ll meet and will help each other survive in the world.
But is it possible to keep that deep of a promise when you’re held in a nightmare every waking moment and the one sworn to save you is hundreds of miles away, equally trapped and in danger?
(This is just the first chapter which is really just a prelude but I’m hoping to have this done by the end of the month as I have it completely planned and mapped out. )

Homma Takashi @ TOP
Tumblr media
Revolution 9: Homma Takashi is a compact and varied presentation of Homma's recent photography at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum until January 21st, 2024. It's not a retrospective, a truly daunting proposition at this point in his career given his prolific output, but a selection of works produced in rooms fashioned as camera obscuras functioning as pinhole cameras, work produced by this method being a recurring concern of Homma in recent years.
Homma is something of a shape-shifting artist who has produced a widely varied body of work, most of which at a glance might appear to have few common denominators but which uniformly intrigues, stimulates, or amuses, sometimes all three at once, leading perhaps to his eventually settling into a role as a prominent Japanese conceptual photographer today.
He came to wider notice with the straightforward series "Tokyo Suburbia" (1998), but was soon veering off into ambiguous territory with his "Tokyo and My Daughter" (2000) which purportedly presented his daughter growing up in the urban landscape of the megalopolis but in fact the child in question was not his at all but the daughter of a friend. With this he was off and running. Projects on Scandinavian mushrooms, all the buildings on Ginza Street (Tokyo), and windows in buildings designed by Le Corbusier around the world, to name just a few among many, have followed.
Much if not all of what is seen in this exhibition begs the question: "How many and which giants of photography has he referenced?" or perhaps it could also be posed as: "By which giants of photography has he not been influenced?" Seriously, though, the leading question becomes: where does one draw the line of acknowledging influence/inspiration if not homage, particularly across the entire body of work featured in an exhibition?
The admittedly unsatisfying answer is: "it depends". To be more precise, it depends on the viewer and their perspective on such an interpretive approach being front and center, as well perhaps as their perspective on the artist(s) being referenced. But in the end is it in fact interpretation that Homma is doing?
I would suggest that the ambiguity surrounding this approach is at least part of what Homma is counting on: it's his mode of engagement with the viewer, the entrance to an understanding of what he's doing in these works.
Variously, Homma's images in this exhibition can be seen as a technically impressive and masterful presentation of one skilled practitioner of the photographic arts referencing another established practitioner of the photographic arts (using the time-consuming, technically demanding, persnickety and uncertain medium of the camera obscura cum pinhole camera), a take the money and run gambit (successful, so far), a curious coincidence (obviously not, but…), or simply compelling images in their own right.
Whether he is referencing Hokusai's historical ukiyo-e woodblocks (not a photographer, obviously, but in any case an image maker ), one of Ed Ruscha's tongue in cheek taxonomic series, some of Robert Frank's latter period works produced from his Nova Scotia redoubt, or Kikuji Kawada's iconic eclipse image, Homma is straightforward and never coy; the informed viewer is never left guessing. But a casual observer has no need to know the inspirational provenance of the images in this exhibition as they can be fully appreciated on their own, reference-free merits.

I just finished the semester on Friday with straight A’s, and I really don’t know what to do with myself this weekend. It’s hard enough to remind myself that I deserve to relax especially when yesterday I went to a family Christmas party where even my scariest uncle who owns a couple million dollar properties told me he was proud of me, that I should be proud of myself, and that it wasn’t an accident that I’m here in this university. How can I relax when I’ve just decided to apply to law schools not too far off in the future? I wasn’t a happy English major and my undergrad will be in philosophy now since all I do is study philosophy and look at court cases of post separation abuse anyway, looking at laws made to protect children from their narcissistic fathers. It took getting here to understand that this would be my path. Journalists make so little money, the Scandinavian department at Berkeley wasn’t doing well after the strikes, physics would take too long as my husband told me it’s too bad that we’re not together (his choice) because he’ll own multiple houses and I won’t be there to enjoy them with him. I don’t think he meant to hurt me by saying this, but it pierced me further than imaginable since all I’ve ever wanted was for him to provide the children and I a family home. It just hit me one day that it’s up to me now. He moved out. He’s in his own apartment. He tells me constantly to move onto someone new if I’d like, even if he “doesn’t want to.” Not only do I have to put aside my passions that don’t make much money, I have to provide a dual income if I’m to own property myself now. My children deserve that much from me even if I couldn’t give them a family that’s whole and they mean everything to me. I just wish they didn’t have to see me cry so much and feel so worried about me.

Nergal is half-right and has no self-insight.
Yes, Nergal is right about the metal scene being flooded with too many bands. And isn't it funny how he compares himself with Cliff Burton?
Well, he's right about there being too many bands. Back in the evil days when Black Metal was a dangerous subculture, lead by narcissistic sociopaths and evil-wannabees, it was more difficult to find extreme metal music. But even then, for those of use who traded tapes and bought demos, we sooner or later would have heard the same riffs over and over, seen the same stupid titles and standard photos. Behemoth was one of those bands. started out as blackmetal with the typical standard shitty sound and generic riffs á la Scandinavian black metal bands. Then it morphed into more skilled musicianship and started ripping off Morbid Angel riffs. And now, their recent album? A complete snore. Why? Because we've already heard that sort of stuff OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER.
So please, don't start a band that sounds like Behemoth. In fact, it woudl be better if Nergal stopped releasing metal too. The scene is too flooded. BUT the failure here is not the bands. It's the fact that the bands put out their music far too early. Labels release anything that is somewhat so-so. Instead, there should be higher demand from listeners and labels that the bands are UNIQUE..
So the best thing would be if labels became pickier instead of open to all kinds of generic crap just to fit their over-saturated genre, and it would be better if the bands waited with trying to release an album as soon as possible. Better release a killer debut than a generic one. Better release a killer demo of merely four tracks than an album of ten mediocre top of the mill crap.
Yes, and it would be better if many of the "giants" of today called it quits. And I get it, you like to play live - but really.. do you? do you like the play the same damn songs over and over because it's what the fans want to hear? Do you want squeese out an album every damn year because that's what the fans want and you thereby run out of material? Because you simply don't have enough time to let your creativity ripen into something interesting? Well, fuck those fans.

❦ List fandoms of my heart: №3 (the last).
✯ Kuroshitsuji (Dark Butler)
Tumblr media
This anime is my guide to the world of anime, my first of all, and the first that I liked. In addition, I have been watching it since I was 13 (omg, how old I am..).
I can say, from it I learned what anime is. It is one of my favorites and one of those that I can revisit (P.S .: And I'm still waiting for the new season or new full-length films, although no one said anything or promised anything about it).
The advantages of this anime are - interesting plots, 19th century setting mixed with the supernatural, soundtracks and a huge number of different characters for every taste. As I can tell, everyone will find their ideal 2D kun or chan here.
I could single out a lot of cool characters, but I'm afraid they could be spoilers too, so I'll just mention a few of my personal favorites.
Sebastian is a demon butler and another protagonist besides Ciel. A jack of all trades, a cool killer and one of the most real handsome men who stole many hearts from the female audience, who is in many similar tops and sometimes even has leading positions. I can say that he was my very first anime - love.
Prince Soma is an Indian prince. I don't know how many fans he has, but I think not as many as Sebastian and Ciel. Actually, Soma is the one who attracted me much more and my love for Sebastian did not last forever. This is because Soma, in addition to being beautiful and Indian (which was important to me as a lover of Bollywood films and music, and also interested in Indian culture), has a sweet and good personality. Three combos!
Madame Red is a bright woman with a difficult fate. I guess there isn't much more to say here (spoilers, spoilers, damn it).
Pluto is a devilish dog. Cutie, charming, with one cool ability and mine another anime-love (those who know this character and his unusual ability - yes - yes, I know it's weird to fall in love with characters like him).
As I said, the soundtracks are wonderful - some of the tunes have some classic notes in them, and also, the opening can be recognized from a thousand and it is easy to remember which anime it belongs to.
Also, there are elements of detective and crime, which also adds its own special shades and makes this anime even more interesting and aesthetically pleasing.
I look forward to continuing with it and begin to show interest in anime of a similar genre and setting in one (I found something similar, for example, as "House of Shadows").
✯ Dame x Prince
Tumblr media
Another anime that became my find and I can watch it many times. I liked it so much that after I found it (in 2018 it was a spring novelty), I watched almost all the episodes in one gulp and only later realized that it ends too quickly, because I could not stop in time.
This anime contains everything that I love about the reverse - harems - beautiful drawing, bright colors, romance, elements of comedy and fantasy, attractive male characters and not a stupid main character who can be respected.
We can say that Ani is one of the few normal owners of a harem, but she can be considered a diamond among them. She is encouraged by her courage and the fact that she is not embarrassed when guys compliment her or try to flirt (I could say more about her, but these will be spoilers).
Despite the fact that here the male characters are clichéd, for example - a kind cutie, handsome womanizer, narcissistic rude and so on, they look cool and interesting to watch, it's a pity that we will never know which of them Ani chose in the end.
In addition, there is one more plus in the form of a good plot, after which it helps some characters to reveal themselves.
Even if many people do not always take girly harem animes well and consider them worthless and empty, just to please teenage girls with cute romance in a colorful wrapper, this anime genre also deserves a place to be. Who knows, maybe soon the reverse - harems will evolve even more, at least there are already some anime-worthy options. Everything has its fans..
In general, this is a good and positive anime that can bring more colors to life. And I still hope for season 2..
✯ Nanbaka
Tumblr media
When you watch a video on the topic: "Guess the gender of anime characters", you will not think that in this way you will be able to discover a new anime. That's how I found out about Nanbaka, after which I watched the first season in a couple of days.
I associate this anime with the beginning of July 2018 and the dairy drinks Twix, Milky Way and Snickers, which at that time I was finally able to taste.
Nanbaka has several advantages - a cool variety of characters, an element of comedy, and an equally vibrant color scheme. Also, I noticed that all characters have their own special difference - they all have nails painted in a different color and have small fangs.
Despite the fact that there is no romance here and the plot is built around a prison theme, Nanbaka is quite interesting to watch, and in some episodes there are elements of drama and seriousness. However, if the first season is more comical situations, then the second season is a little more serious, at least there are more problems that the heroes solve.
Of the characters, there are not only bisonens and heroes with simple qualities including kindness, cuteness, foolishness, signs of a womanizer, hot temper and severity, but there are also unexpected specimens, such as several LGBTQ characters and even antagonists.
Unfortunately, Nanbaka is not a very popular fandom and most likely there will never be a third season... But this is another solid anime that can be endlessly watched and is one of those that drags on from the first episodes.
✯ Romance Club
Tumblr media
This visual novel often came across to me in YouTube recommendations, in the form of walkthroughs and analysis of Easter eggs from it.
At first, I was not very interested in this, and from the video, my first impression was that this is just an incomprehensible game with characters similar to cardboard figures, but for some reason it became very popular and discussed on social networks.
After some time, I still began to watch the walkthroughs and more or less began to understand what the whole highlight of the game is, and after that, I began to play myself, though at the beginning, then, I had only a plan to while away the rest of summer time until autumn, but I didn’t notice how I began to be drawn into the RC and it became not just a game for one time, it became a habit that is difficult to get rid of.
Now, it's not just a bunch of pretty cardboard character figurines and a joke that RC is a mix of films like "50 Shades of Gray" and "Twilight", made for teenage girls.
Romance Club is - characters for every taste, from whites and Europeans, to Hispanics and Asians, both boys and girls. LGBTQ relationships have not been forgotten here either.
Various stories with any setting - vampires + werewolves, pirates, aliens, 19th-18th century, royal setting, movie stars and fame, Scandinavian mythology, ancient Greek mythology, sea and beach setting, detectives and crime, ancient Japan (geisha and samurai) , angels and demons, everyday life and much more, but the creators continue to delight us with new stories to this day, and I think we still have a lot to see.
Beautiful graphics and drawing of characters, cool design of clothes, and also, here you can learn how to beautifully compose texts and sentences (let's say this can be useful for the writing sphere), since some stories contain wonderful descriptions of some scenes and comparisons of concepts (example. "Stars as luminous points," and the like).
But besides romance, other important topics can be revealed here, such as the concept of friendship, a hard life due to many problems, courage and self-confidence, and sometimes even 18+ topics can be touched upon. In addition, some stories have instructive facts, for example, something about the history of Turkey during the Ottoman Empire.
Romance Club is scientifically enlightening!
Despite the fact that I refused to play games, since they take a lot of time, during which you can do a bunch of other useful things, RC is the only game (besides the Sims) on which I do not regret wasting my time and it is always interesting to watch new stories and how the old ones will end.

Hi! Can I request a playlist for my OC, Finley Morgan?
Finley is an inventor/alchemist trying to clear her family name due to her father's horrid actions years ago. She struggles with her own mental state while also having to deal with her father's dark shadow looming over her. Deep down Finley strives to be the greatest inventor who ever lived, she wants her legacy to completely erase her father's.
Finley is detail-oriented, analytical, accommodating, and will cautiously plan her way through life. She is driven to answer the question, "why" before acting.
She prefers being alone most of the time and is not socially active. She prefers to be with family or the two close friends that she has. When forced into social events she tends to leave as soon as possible. She tends to slip away, unnoticed. In order to function well, she needs information and time alone to think.
Finley has ADHD and dyspraxia.
Finley is slightly nearsighted and has glasses, though she tends to forget to wear them. Sometimes "losing" them on her own head.
If you wrong her, the only way to get back on her good side is by making restitution. It's also how she apologizes.
She shows love by giving well-thought-out gift baskets or spending quality time with you.
She's not the biggest fan of being touched. It takes her getting comfortable enough with you to be fine with anything more than a handshake.
Finley is prone to many interests and is a jack-of-all-trades. She also tends to hyper-fixate on her interests until she loses motivation and finds a new interest.
She has a very idiosyncratic point of view on everything. Because she's able to see information and patterns other people would miss, this causes her to be able to, to some extent, predict the future.
Finley is not the most trusting person in the world but she is fiercely loyal once you do earn her trust.
She has hidden dimensions that are as intense as they are fascinating. Sometimes she comes across as arrogant, cynical, and cryptic. Though this seems to only happen when she's afraid.
She can brood over injustices, is prone to entertaining conspiracy theories and connecting the dots that are unnoticed by others.
Finley is moderately paranoid at the best of times. She can be vindictive and petty. Enacting sneaky vengeance on those who wronged her or those she cares about.
She has very low self-esteem.
Finley is interested in learning and exploring new ideas. She's always working on something that she thinks will be the next big discovery or invention. Though she rarely finishes them.
Finley will blurt out facts but they come across as her being rude, which is not her intention.
She likes learning but schoolwork was always a low priority for her.
Due to her being raised by an entire family of narcissists, whenever she tried to speak they'd interrupt her or complain about her talking too much or too loudly. So she's usually pretty silent unless you can get her started on something she's passionate about.
Finley will break apart every solid food she eats and eat the pieces from smallest to biggest.
She lacks attention, which causes anything she writes down to have spelling, punctuation, or grammatical errors.
She frequently gets lost in daydreams.
If she lacks genuine interest, she struggles with following instructions and completing assignments.
Organization and self-care are also difficult for her. Along with other daily activities.
If she gets hyperfocused on something, she'll go the entire day without remembering to eat.
But if she doesn't keep her hands busy she'll constantly be eating just to have something for her hands to do.
She's embarrassed by how poor her handwriting is, despite how much she's practiced at making it more legible.
She does not like a lot of noise, especially loud noise. She can only enjoy fireworks if she's far enough away that the sounds are minimal but she can still enjoy the view.
She cannot tolerate the feeling of water on her forearms/elbows. Or have wet clothing on.
She's very clumsy, frequently tripping over her own furniture no longer how long it's been in that particular spot. She will always have at least one bruise on her body and it's unlikely she can tell you how she got it.
Most of the time when Finley speaks, her words get muddled up. She especially struggles with words that have R in the middle of them.
She likes Scandinavian-style interior design. Her favorite colors are dark green and black.
Words that would fit her aesthetic are haunting, natural, quiet.
Please and thank you xx

Scandinavian Selkie
“It occurred to me that there have always been selkie women: women who did not seem to belong to this world, because they did not fit into prevailing notions of what women were supposed to be. And if you did not fit into those notions, in some sense you weren't a woman. Weren't even quite human."

gary powell@gdogg27· Was an interesting start to any album,  two security guards and no material ready.  Think we did ok considering!
Tim Burgess@Tim_Burgess· I’m saying Narcissist might be my favourite on this album #TimsTwitterListeningParty
Carl Barat@carlbaratmusic· Music When the Lights Go Out. One of our oldest and most cherished. The working title I seem to recall was ‘The Truth And The Light’. The riff was written on an old church piano in the Albion Rooms, called Benny. ...Tis one of my favourites on the record and I love the waltz dreamy fall-apart at the end. #TheLibertines The Man Who Would Be King. A cap doffing to the earlier “Tell The King”, another secret for ya. Titled after Rudyard Kipling (of Gunga Din fame)’s epic tale. ‘Here’s to newspaper Joe’ was from an old velvet’s song  we were partial to. We finished the middle 8 lyrics in the studio when things were still a bit punchy. There's some tuning in this one aint there Nice message underneath about overcoming obstacles and whatnot. Don’t Be Shy. #TimsTwitterListeningParty One of the more traditional old school @Libertines tunes, harking back to pointy boots and flares in the ‘Jazz after Dark’ years. Some meltingly personal omissions later from the Pigman and a couple of words from Jonesy and Bill Bones is yer uncle. #TheLibertines Early morning on the back of a tour bus, the sun rising over Fjords and us on the wrong side of daylight. That was the riff, and the rest @PeteDoherty borrowed from a tune the ‘Nuggets’ box set. Last post on the Bugle. I remember this coming together on a Scandinavian tour. Before the first note was played we had been pulled apart by our respective bouncers, who were hired into the session to keep us apart. Our guards pulled us apart but Mick Jones pulled us back together, I suppose. #TheLibertines Looking back, and given what we had been through, how could we have began this record in any other way. This was the first one we recorded on day 1 at the mighty and muscular Metropolis studios. #TimsListeningParty. @Libertines Can't Stand Me Now. Penned in Paris. Hours and hours going arounds the chords in room 1 of the Hotel Arvoir into the dawn. This was a time of unparalleled extremes for us, the stark shades of light and dark refusing to agree with the urgency and the melody… er… We were at loggerheads like never before. My memories of this record are for some reason hazier than those of our first.
Carl Barat@carlbaratmusic· The Saga. As brutal a time as it gets.  Peter reading a letter from his friend, there is a lot of hanging out dirty laundry all over this record but we wear it all the same as we knew no other way really... It’s a belter live. Tomblands. “High register operational” I was referring to my knackered throat as I took on both the high and low vocal. Pete was furious that Mick kept that in. It all worked out in the end I reckon. Never played this live though I don’t think? What Katie Did. This was originally “What Charlie Did’ before Katie Bapples and ‘that woman’ appeared on the scene… Anyways, I am eternally grateful to Peter for letting me sing it, he has always nurtured my inner music hall ham. Endless reprisals and a mystery murmured love at the end. Campaign of Hate. I remember Carlene. Went back to her flat in Clapham. Not much else. I think She preferred Peter. Arbeit Macht Frei. Peter’s splendid rant, backed up by my mute character. Mustn’t grumble. The Ha Ha Wall. One of our favourite numbers. The origin of this song is, like most of these, muddled, and refers to a wall in Liverpool, which Pete’s cousin said was called the Ha Ha wall.
I forget why and am not sure it ever was.  That make sense?  Nice backing and frothing on lead with me old pal. @gdogg27 saved us from falling off the ledge in the middle 8 section. Forgot about the whistling on the Narcissist.  Ah memories Narcissist. Another early song, written in Clapham whilst I was ushering on “An Ideal Husband” and drinking in the sun. Would be nice to do this live some day.
Carl Barat@carlbaratmusic
·
I love the boys so much, I should have done some of this differently but looking back, wouldn’t change a thing.  Thanks so much everyone. x The stakes and the pressure had gotten infinitely higher and so had we, not to say that the truth and the melody weren’t abounding. ...Just that the lofty self inflicted leap of faith we had planned all along (the blag) was unprecedentedly fraught, and I like to think this is what made the record as honest and confused, as romantic and desperate, as we had always wanted it to be. What Became of the likely lads. This one stands the test of time for me, with it’s constantly changing unanswerable question. Brings a tear to my eye. Road to Ruin. A little bit Doors-esque which is rare on our records. We never played this live either. I think this is the one I enjoyed recording the most. Love Mick’s backing vocal

Julie Andem interview in Swedish newspaper
Svenska dagbladet - The skam creator about the secrets behind the success
Julie Andem’s teen drama Skam is celebrating success from China to Argentina. Now she’s telling SvD exclusively about the working method that laid the foundation for the world success.
Many describe their first meeting with Skam as a chock. What you thought would be an ordinary Norwegian tv show about a bunch of high schoolers was something different from everything you had seen before.
Maybe it can best be described with a feeling that it was real. Like a documentary filmed with a hidden camera on the young main characters’ school yard and parties, in their bedrooms, text conversations and deepest thoughts.
Before Skam there had been a common truth that tv shows about 16 year olds were not cool, cliche and not believable. So how had the script writer and director Julie Andem succeeded with creating something so real?
The question didn’t get an answer, because Julie Andem didn’t want to speak to the press. It was known the she had done thorough interviews with teenagers in preparation for the show and she seemed like a researcher rather than a typical narcissistic director. Since then Skam has become known all over the world, but Julie Andem still keeps herself quite secret. She has thus far said no to Skavlan and during the four years that has passes since Skam first aired in Norway she has only allowed herself to be interview by a few newspapers, including The New Yorker. When Svenska Dagbladet meets her it’s the first ever interview with Swedish media.
We have set up a meeting at the legendary Hotel Bristol in Oslo. I’m not really satisfied with the meeting point and had imagined that we would sit at a ”cool in an Oslo way” student café. Maybe close to Hartvig Nissen Videregående skole, where the show is set. This looks more like a fancy city hotel - beautiful, but characterasied by its audience. The guests could all be William’s grandparents, you can almost smell the wealth originating from the oil.
But it turns out to be a true Julie Andem spot. She has lived here, and not only a night, but during a long period of time. It was when the triple work with writing the script, directing and finishing cutting the episodes shut down everything that could be called everyday life. With working days from seven in the morning to one at night and also a water leakage in the apartment there was no more reasonable solution that checking in at a hotel.
The script that she partly wrote right here are now released as four books, one for each season. Julie Andem has not yet seen the Swedish version and wonders how Norwegian sociolect can be translated to other languages. But in Sweden we have already taken in the skam slang - the only thing that’s a bit tricky to translate is ”russebussen”.
[cut out passage where the writer talks about the russebuss and the Swedish equivalent]
”When I talk about Skam abroad, for example in South America where the show has become really big, I always get to a point where I have to explain ”russebuss”. It’s absurd to tell that 20-25 students rent or buy a bus, set it up with all the right equipment and drive around in it for a month, drunk. And the Norwegian society allows that, right before exams” Julie Andem notes and can’t help but laugh at it.
[cut out passage about the other versions of skam and what the writer thinks of the script books]
In the script there are comments directed to different people in the team, suggestions for at which parents you could film a scene and ideas for clothes. That much of herself Julie Andem has never shown before: it’s almost like you get to know her.
But on the other side of the table in the dining hall at Hotel Bristol where we are now eating a shrimp sandwich each she says straight aways that she wants to separate her public persona from her private live. Julie Andem can say that she has a brother, a sister and two bonus sisters, but doesn’t want to mention her parents. And when I ask her about her own time in high school she answers by telling about her russebuss.
”I was on a girls bus with 25 girls. We were very split when we were going to name the bus. The name is crucial, because it gives the identity for the whole bus. One half of us wanted to be called ”Red Hot Chilli Babes” and the other voted for ”The Amateurs”. Because we were very funny, but nobody took any responsibility and we had no control at all”.
You had no Vilde?
”No, there was no Vilde. Luckily it ended up being ” The Amatuers”. But the russebuss-culture has radically changed since I was russ 2001. Now it’s mental how much money they use.
Julie Andem grew up in the west part of Oslo, the fanciest part of the city. She describes her time in school as pretty boring. She didn’t go to Nissen, which is a highly respected high school, where the Norwegian princesses Astrid and Ragnhild has gone. Talking about royals, the crown princess Mette-Marit is a big fan of Skam and has gotten the scripts with a dedication from Julie Andem - and her son is seen on the show.
”I wanted to go to Nissen, but I didn’t have good enough grades, so I had to take the second best, Ullern Vidergående. It’s a typical west side school, which means there was quite a few Williams. Most of my friends wanted to work with economy or become lawyers or paralegals.
So Skam is your dream about how it would have been if you got in to Nissen?
”Haha, yes, you can see it like that.”
Who were you? Are you Noora?
”No, I’m all of them - and non of them. I see myself in all of them, even William, that Sweden hates.”
I firmly say that it’s not true that Sweden hates William, but Julie Andem says that the criticism against the character came from all the Scandinavian countries after the same episode, but it was a lot harsher in Sweden than I Norway and Denmark. And she knows the countries well, because she has had a Swedish boyfriend and lived in Denmark. After high school she moved to Jylland [part of Denmark] where she studied for a year at Den Skandinaviske Designhøjskole.
”It was amazing, because there I got lots of funny friends from Stockholm, Malmö and Copenhagen that I still have. It was like coming home when I realized that not everywhere in the world is like Oslo West. I had a friend that already then was vegan, a strong feminist and refused to shave her legs and armpits. And me, coming from the West side just thought ”WOW”” says Julie Andem and emphasis it with a mixture of fear and excitement.
So she is also a little bit of Noora?
”Yes, absolutely!”
Julie Andem was planning on becoming a graphic designer and continued to study at Westerdals Reklameskole in Oslo (now called Christiania Høyskole), ”It’s like Beckmans in Sweden”. There she studied to become an art director - and thus does not have any education for working on tv. But when Julie Andem got an internship at a tv production she started to write ”instead of just making posters”. 2008 she got a job at NRK’s children’s sector, that just had come up with the new concept ”Sara” - a video diary with a twelve year old girl.
”Everything was fiction, she was an actor and the script was written, but it was presented in a vlog format, like it was real. It wasn’t my idea and I got in as an assistant, but I also got to write the script. After that we created a concept called ”MIA”. Then there was ”Jenter” which went on for ten seasons, was a big success in the ages 10-12 and won an Emmy 2017. The show also had viewers  that were up to 15 years old and that’s why NRK asked if it was possible to make a similar concept for 16 year olds. That was how ”Skam” came about.
NRK used the method NABC (needs/approach/benefit/competition) that builds on finding a need in the target group and poof solve it with a tv show. That’s why Julie Andem had one question in her mind when she did her three our long deep interviews: What does a 16 year old need?
”The most clear thing was that those who are young now has been subjected to pressure from all directions in life. They need to preform in school, during after school activities, on social media and in relation to future careers - it’s pressure from 360 degrees.
More than when you were young? ”Yes, definitely. That’s why the question was if it’s possible to make a tv show that takes away some of that pressure. The conclusion was to give the viewers some Self-deprecating humor as a tool to ease the pressure by laughing at it. We also wanted to teach them to see how human communication mechanisms work. If you are 16 and your boyfriend breaks up it feels like everything about you is wrong, but maybe it has nothing to do with you. We wanted to teach young people to confront the fear and build confidence, to stand for something and not run for others.”
[passage about the nine original characters]
”I knew what I wanted with the nine, but as an example I didn’t know there would be a party in season 3. Eva was going to learn to become independent and put away the shame she was carrying, while Noora needs to learn to let people in.
It sounds like you are very logical when you write, almost like it’s mathematics?
”Yes”
Was that way of working something you had learnt or does it have to do with your personality?
”Both. It’s hard to tell exactly what it is, but I thought ”Jenter”, ”MIA” and ”Sara” were fun to work with because it was something new. We succeeded with getting close to the target group and the interaction between us an the viewers were extremely fascinating. I studied closely what works and doesn’t - and why. Why we would get bad feedback on this video, but not on that and what can we learn from that? That I have a strong fascination for that way of telling stories and has been doing it for almost ten years made me good at it. Many has asked how I could create such a big success despite it being my first tv production, but it didn’t happen over night. I have worked with this for a long time.”
[passage about how the skam concept works and how big it became in the different Scandinavian counties]
”I don’t think it’s healthy to be totally caught up in a tv show, at least not for a longer period of time. But I think those who does that has reasons for it.”
Where do you draw the line?
”Haha, it’s hard to know where it should be drawn. But it’s not all bad, because in the communities that has been created around Skam people have found friends for life. They take care of each other and that’s amazing. So it’s hard for me to dislike it and I also didn’t understand people would get sooo caught up in it.
When did you discover that? When did things start to happen?
It was probably most clear in season two when Noora is waiting for William to reply to an important text. I was told that people sat and refreshed the page again and again to se if William had replied and no one could work.”
In this unbearable wait the hashtag #williammåsvare was created and a phone company made a commercial that said that if William had used their company he would have replied by now. Then a food store said they had ”waiting fish cakes”. Julie Andem let Skam reply to that with Noora throwing tandrum at Eskild because he has eaten her fish cakes and she yells ”JEG TRENGER FISKEKAKER NÅ!”. The interaction with the audience was the foundation of the idea.
How close to filming did you write the script?
”At best two weeks in advance and at worse two hours before filming. I wrote and directed and was editing parallel with constantly having to come up with new scenes. It was at that point I checked in here” says Julie Andem and points vaguely towards the hotel, where we are trying to talk over a pianist that’s now holding a concert right by out table. The strict waiter doesn’t think a interview is a good enough reason to change tables.
But even if you didn’t have the script finished there must have been a main storyline?
Yes, but the storyline changed. It was like a ”it has to be like this, but I will know better after the third episode.”
How has the translating of Skam to other language gone? Did you interfere with the translated versions?
”No, but I have meet those who are making the shows and often talk to the Italian director. He is very dedicated and has a lot of questions. It has been enjoyable.”
The American version ”Skam Austin” you have directed yourself. How was that?
”Super fun, but very different. In Norway we were five on the team - sound, camera, two assistants and me. In Austin there were 50-70 people on set. If you want to get young amateurs to dare to be vulnerable you have to create a safe environment and that doesn’t work with so many adults there. My photographer and me worked a lot with creating a bubble and push everybody else as far away as possible.
Did you adapt the script to the American audience?
”You have seen a lot of high school shows, so I was looking for something that you hadn’t already seen. But there weren’t much to discover - it’s exactly like in all tv shows. The coolest guy at a high school in Texas plays American football, that’s just how it is. We have seen that football team hundreds of times, but we didn’t want to make something up that didn’t exist. It was still new because the themes were new to them.”
I try to direct the conversation towards how the attention around Skam has changed Julie Andem as a human being and first she says she hasn’t had time to think about it.
”But I’m a quite easily embarrassed person and I’ve had to work on that, because a lot of people get in touch with me. Complete strangers dump their whole life story on me and I’ve had to practice receiving it. I got a letter from a 70 years old Swedish man who wrote that season 3 had given him a new life and that he wished he had got to experience that in his youth. I feel thankful to have taken part of that story, but sometimes I have to shut it out. Many stories are so sad that they make me too touched, too upset.”
You are a little strict too, right? ”Yes, if I know what I want and why I’m very clear. I don’t know how much you know about producing drama, but we filmed two episodes in three days and then there’s not really much time to stop and think about what you feel. And I’m pretty strong-willed.”
Julie Andem talks about a scene in the first season where the girls are walking up a hill on their way for a party while ”Dick in the Air” by Peaches is playing.
”That scene becomes fantastic with the sexualizing song, but I was told that we had to remove it because of something with the copyright. It is rarely I show that kind of emotions at work, but I was so upset and angry that I sat by my desk and cried. Then I took the phone and called everybody I know that works with music. I found someone who said they knew Peaches’ manager and then somebody came and said ’We’ve found a solution’. Two years later I was at a club in LA where Peaches were going to sing. I said to somebody that I dig her, so afterwards I got to meet her and told her about the scene and that I used her song. She said: ’I have seen then scene and I love it’ and I screamed back ’I KNEW IT!’”
The music is really fundamental in Skam. Is it based on your own interest in music or did you get help?
I’ve never thought that I have such a big interest in music. Many of my friends have very specific taste in music and I’ve liked everything. But yes, it’s fundamental and often I have written in and listened to the music while writing the scenes.
Had you found out what 16 year olds today listens to?
”Yes, absolutely, but teens today have Spotify, so they listen to everything. I got references from so many music genres that I realized that you could use pretty much anything. But I was important that the song they dance to at a party was a hit at that moment.”
The values that exist in Skam, pro feminism and against racism and homophobia, is pretty Scandinavian. How have they worked in countries like France and Italy?
”I don’t know, but Skam has spread all over the world and has big groups of fans in Argentina, Brazil, Japan and China. Skam is growing in China as we speak” she says and looks pretty cheeky.
”It seems like there are more people in this world that has use of Scandinavian values.”

Donald J. Trump is the world's WORST negotiator. No wonder he has gone BANKRUPT 6Xs.
Greenland highlights Trump’s willingness to offend close US allies
By cancelling his state visit to Denmark, the US president has again showed his thin skin
By Simon Tisdall | Published:07:51 Wed August 21, 2019 | Guardian | Posted August 21, 2019 100:00 AM ET |
Donald Trump’s abrupt decision to cancel his state visit to Denmark after it rejected his unsolicited offer to buy Greenland at a knockdown price took most people by surprise, not least his own ambassador.
“Denmark is ready … Partner, ally, friend”, tweeted Carla Sands, the neophyte US envoy to Copenhagen who was previously an actor and chiropractor. Hours later, it was off.
The embarrassment of Sands, a loyal Trump campaign fundraiser best known until now for her starring role in the 1988 film Deathstalker and the Warriors from Hell, elicited scant sympathy from Danes apparently relieved the US president was not coming.
“Hahaha, well maybe your boss should update you about what is going on in his mind. This proves how crazy this administration is,” one Twitter user wrote. Some American respondents apologised for their president’s behaviour.
Greenland’s unsought role in this new Nordic saga, wacky even by Trump’s eccentric standards, has again raised questions about his mental state and a chaotic decision-making process in Washington that often leaves partners and allies out in the cold.
Trump recently secretly ordered military strikes on Iran, then called them off with 10 minutes to go. He caused more Scandinavian amazement and amusement last month when he sent a hostage negotiator to Sweden after the American rapper A$AP Rocky was arrested for common assault.
Anthony Scaramucci, a former communications director for Trump, told the BBC the much-pummelled president was like a punch-drunk boxer still standing in the 12th round with no real idea what he was doing. His handlers should throw in the towel, Scaramucci suggested.
That may be an overly kind explanation. The Greenland episode has also highlighted Trump’s personal rudeness and undiplomatic willingness to offend close US allies. The visit next month was at the invitation of Queen Margrethe II, who, unlike Prince Hamlet, was apparently prepared to tolerate something rotten in the state of Denmark, at least for a couple of days. She will not be amused.
Mette Frederiksen, the Danish prime minister, was glacially cool towards the idea of selling Greenland to Trump. She described the US, which maintains a military base in Qaanaaq, also known as Thule, in north-west Greenland, as a valued strategic and Nato partner. But she poured cold water on the purchase, suggesting it smacked of disrespectful neocolonial attitudes.
“Thankfully, the time where you buy and sell other countries and populations is over. Let’s leave it there,” Frederiksen said during a trip to Greenland, a semi-autonomous Danish territory. The attempt to buy it was “absurd”. It is this blunt response that seems to have provoked the thin-skinned Trump to put his trip on ice.
The idea of such deals is not new, though dated. An expansionist US, pursing what was once called its “manifest destiny”, often bought or seized territory in the past. In 1803, it paid Napoleon $15m for a huge area of land ranging from what is now Canada to the south-eastern US, a deal known as the Louisiana purchase.
In 1848, the US relieved Mexico of about half its national territory, including most of what is now California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Wyoming. In 1867, it bought Alaska from the Russians. In 1898, it took possession of the Philippines, Guam and Puerto Rico after fighting a war with Spain. The US once harboured designs on Cuba and Panama.
But Greenland residents plainly do not want to follow the US Virgin Islands, sold by Denmark in 1917. They have reportedly dismissed Trump’s offer, calling it patronising and unwelcome. Yet the fact the idea was even raised may serve to reinforce longstanding resentment, mostly directed at Copenhagen, that Greenlanders are treated as second-class citizens.
Political tensions have fuelled calls for independence among residents of the vast, sparsely populated island where about 57,000 people occupy 836,000 sq miles. Despite its largely untapped mineral wealth, which is what is said to most interest Trump, it is heavily dependent on more than £400m in annual subsidies from Denmark.
In common with other Arctic territories, Greenland has a recent history of social problems, including high rates of alcoholism, drug abuse and suicide among the indigenous Inuit people. Increased tourism has proved a mixed blessing.
Greenland is also disproportionately affected by the climate crisis and global heating.
According to a CNN report from Kulusuk this week, scientists say 12.5bn tonnes of ice melted on one day this month – the biggest single-day loss ever recorded. That’s no joke – and it is a problem Trump stubbornly refuses to address.
‘A narcissistic fool’: Danes hit out at Trump over cancelled visit
US president faces criticism for calling off Denmark trip after he is told Greenland not for sale
Shaun Walker | Published Wed 21 Aug 2019 08.59 EDT | Guardian | Posted August 21, 2019 9:48 AM ET |
The Danish prime minister has said she is surprised and disappointed that Donald Trump has called off his planned visit to the country over Copenhagen’s refusal to sell Greenland to the US.
Mette Frederiksen said the US president’s decision would not affect strategic, military or commercial cooperation between their two countries. She had previously said his Greenland proposal was absurd.
Politicians from across the spectrum were united in their condemnation. “There are already many good reasons to think that the man is a fool, and now he has given another good reason,” Eva Flyvholm, the foreign policy chair for Denmark’s Red-Green Alliance, told Danish media.
The former prime minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt tweeted: (See Website or Twitter)
Villy Søvndal, a former foreign minister, said the decision “confirms that Donald Trump is a narcissistic fool”.
The US president had been due to visit Denmark in early September but announced on Twitter late on Tuesday night that there was no longer any point in the visit. “Based on Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen’s comments, that she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of Greenland, I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time,” Trump wrote. The White House later confirmed the visit had been called off.
Søvndal told the Danish newspaper Berlingske that Trump’s decision showed he was unaware of the basic rules of diplomacy. “If he had been a clown in a circus, you could probably say that there is considerable entertainment value. The problem is that he is the president of the most powerful nation in the world,” he said.
The awkwardness was compounded by the fact that the US ambassador to Denmark had tweeted her excitement about the upcoming visit a few hours before Trump made his announcement. “Denmark is ready for the POTUS visit! Partner, ally, friend,” she wrote.
A spokeswoman for the Danish royal household, which had formally invited Trump, said she was surprised by the cancellation.
Greenland, a vast island bordering the Arctic Ocean that is 85% covered in ice, was a Danish colony until 1953. It gained autonomous territory status in 1979, but the island’s economy depends heavily on Danish subsidies. It has 55,000 inhabitants, many of whom favour full independence from Denmark.
Many in Denmark had initially assumed the story of Trump’s desire to buy the large, sparsely populated island was either meant in jest or as a distraction tactic. Trump even tweeted a photograph of a small Greenland village with a large Trump tower photoshopped in, but he appears to have been serious about the proposal, or at least offended by the firm rebuff it received.
Why might Donald Trump want to buy Greenland?
Greenland harbours some of the largest deposits of rare-earth metals, including neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium and terbium, along with uranium and the byproducts of zinc.
US corporations once thought of China as a benign supplier of rare-earth metals for mobile phones, computers and more recently electric cars. And the US government was relaxed when Chinese companies began hoovering up mines across central and southern Africa to secure an even greater dominance of the global market.
But the arrival of Xi Jinping as China’s leader, and his more aggressive foreign policy stance, has spooked many US policymakers. Among Trump’s advisers, the need for greater economic independence has raced up the agenda.
A potential target for the US is Greenland Minerals, an Australian company that has generated a good deal of excitement since it started operating on Greenland’s south-west peninsula in 2007 to develop the Kvanefjeld mine, which is home to many rare-earth metals.
More than 100m tonnes of ore are believed to be sitting below the surface and the project is expected to become one of the largest global producers outside China.

Bad Choice Julian.
The arrest of Julian Assange is an interesting story.  He was accused of sexual assault by a Scandinavian woman or was it two?  To avoid that charge and “possible” extradition to the USA he runs and hides in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London.  SEVEN YEARS AGO.
He effectively put himself in prison.  The charges of rape were stayed, but may be reinstated.  Perhaps he was thinking of a statute of limitations running him out.  Perhaps he had good reason to think he would be convicted.  I think he most likely will be now in this new era of #me too.  Bad Choice Julian.
Apparently the charges of espionage and theft of intelligence carry a penalty of a bit less than he has already served on himself in “asylum.”  Had he manned up and faced the charges he may already be a free man.  No he has all that still to look forward to.  Bad Choice Julian .
The reason he is now in prison is bail is impossible as he clearly demonstrated he cannot be trusted to adhere to bail conditions. Bad Choice Julian .
Another reason is he pissed of the Ecuadorians.  I find it hard to believe he was shitting in the halls, but easy to believe he was not cleaning up after his cat.  Maybe it was the cat shit? I just don't understand why they ever put up with him in the first place, but they did.  Now they are rid of him because he was a jerk to his hosts. Bad Choice Julian.
His fans and supporters believe he is a good and important person doing good and important things.  But he is proved to be a liar (yes I will adhere to bail conditions I promise) likely a rapist (but it was consensual cuz I am so attractive who could resist me?).  Bottom line he is a basically nasty man probably a narcissist.  Sounds almost like a certain US president.
He is a person without integrity.  He claims he is a journalist defending the rights of one.  Yet many journalists have gone to jail to defend those rights.  He cut and ran like the cowardly lying nasty piece of cat shit he really is.  That was his choice. Bad Choice Julian.

ELISABETH VALKYRIE
FACECLAIM: EMILY VANCAMP AGE: 534 SPECIES: VAMPIRE OCCUPATION: Unemployed ARRIVED: Just Arrived UNDECLARED
“THE FALLEN ANGEL”
The Valkyrie clan originated in a small village in ancient Scandinavian territory. The village was self-sustaining; housing farms, woodcutters, and blacksmiths. While they could easily live on their own, most traveled to the city to sell their goods and earn some extra coin for the town. This opened the threat of robbers, thieves, and surprisingly, supernaturals. Demons and monsters who lurk inside and around the city often terrorized the villagers. After a wide-scale attack on villages by werewolves, most hired retired or local soldiers and hunters to protect their homes, thus creating the “supernatural hunter” job. The village hired the Valkyries, old soldiers and experienced hunters to protect the villagers of the monstrous threats.
Elisabeth (Elsa) was born in the middle of the Valkyrie line, a few minutes after her twin, Edmund. They were raised with the idea the family solely hunted for food and happened to protect villages outside the village limits on random occasions. While it was rumored around the village the family held magical gifts, the twins were not fully exposed to the supernatural world. When they became of age, Ed and Elsa became supernatural hunters with their parents and older siblings. The two served as a team of bounty hunters for neighboring villages as well. She trained just as hard as her brother, becoming skilled with a bow and a dagger while her brother favored swords and guns. Elsa was also a great negotiator, convincing other supernaturals to work with them before their demise.
Elisabeth married another hunter in the city, and together they helped the village hunt local wildlife over supernaturals. Elisabeth did her best to keep her supernatural hunting a secret, wishing for her new family to remain ignorant about the monstrous threat. When Elisabeth turned twenty, she had her first child. She tried to retire and remain a housewife, which lasted a few years. After her husband’s early death while she was pregnant with her second child, she was forced out of retirement. Elisabeth loved her hunting job and felt hunting the monsters around the village would keep her children safe.
While out hunting, the twins ran into a new race: vampires.  Having little experience with them, they tried their best to eliminate them. Yet their tactics only work on demons and werewolves, and they could not kill the vampires as easily. Before the vampire made his escape, Elisabeth was attacked and forced to receive vampire blood. Panicked over what happened, they ran to their parents for help. The Valkyries encountered vampires long before the twins were born, and they knew exactly what their daughter was bound to become. They told Edmund to simply behead his twin for the safety of the village and their own lives. Instead, Ed did not believe his sister would become a monster and took her home.
Moments after, the vampires returned in full force and turned Elisabeth. Expecting her brother to have kindness in the event, she was shocked when Edmund turned against her. He knew the legends of vampires, as all in the village did. He was ready to take the vampire down despite the vampire was his beloved twin sister moments ago. She had no chance to show him she was dangerous before he was attacking her. Elisabeth fled, hiding out in the forest surrounding the city.
After a few days of wandering, Elisabeth found the local vampire coven that turned her. She knew the coven intended to turn her and other hunters to spare themselves of more deaths, but she grudgingly joined. Elisabeth trained with intention to gain control and return home over joining them. After a year she returned to her old home but was not met with welcomed arms. Ed did everything he could to keep Elisabeth out, claiming he was only protecting his niece and nephew. He lied to her; insisting the children were dead, or would be, if she continued to come around. He regularly tipped hunters to her location, sending anyone he could to kill her. Over the next century, Elisabeth remained full time with the vampire coven, more heartbroken than before. She aided the coven by hunting any humans that crossed them, especially hunters. Her family sent trainees and skilled hunters alike after Elsa, insisting the abomination to the Valkyrie name must be brought down. She resented the kind for isolating her the moment she needed them and fought to protect herself and her clan. She became a legendary target to the descendants of her family and hunters followed her for centuries. While she always came out on top,
When talk of the new English colonies reached their ears, the coven leader knew they needed to move west. The coven grew over the last century to fit into a city, so it was time to move on. Without something to hold her back, Elisabeth moved to the colonies in time for the Revolutionary War. Their small coven joined an order which trained fledgling to secretly fight in the war. It was a fascinating task which Elisabeth put a great deal of effort into. Her influence spilled over, allowing her to gain control of yet another army of vampires. She enjoyed the fame and leadership more than she probably should have. She seemed to be finding the life she truly desired.
Elisabeth spent the next century travelling across the new land. She helped vampires, werewolves, and witches alike to thrive. Her primary role was to fight off hunters and mobs from the innocent. She also protected those who could not fight themselves; finding those kidnapped or arrested for their supernatural nature and finding them somewhere safe to hide. When the supernatural war began, Elisabeth was the first one on the battlefield. She spent her entire afterlife defending her right to live and no human was going to get in her way. Finding motivation and inspiration in those who could not defend themselves, she gave the war all she had.
The war ended, yet Elisabeth saw no change. Her people were threatened as if the war never happened. When others angry with the outcome began to organize, Elisabeth wanted to see them succeed. She joined the Horsemen but tends to pick and choose what she is involved in.  She tended to be a spy; gathering intel for their plans and protecting her men in the shadows. Elisabeth continues to investigate disappearances and hunt down supernatural hunters. After receiving a tip about some very vocal anti-supernatural activists in North Carolina, Elisabeth moved to Shadow Falls to find old friends and investigate.
-BEHIND THE CURTAIN-
After spending her afterlife hunted by her own family, Elisabeth can be stand-offish and cold. If she can, she will keep you ignorant of her intensions and actions. She is usually calm and poised yet can kill you with a look. Her patience is short and eliminating the problem is her go-to solution. Violence is always her solution, whether it be verbal, against property, or physical. Death towards her own cause does not phase her. She uses manipulation whenever possible, typically in the form of seduction. She is egotistic and a bit narcissistic. Lying is her favorite tool. When nervous, she tends to remain quiet and stare intensely until you leave her be. To those she does not know well, she comes off as pretentious. The only thing that matters is her personal goals and wellbeing. She has a soft side for those supernaturals in danger or need. She will nurture and protect those she takes interest in, which causes some to fear what her true intensions are. She has a secret soft side for children.

Her Grandmother, who is from Romania, and practiced magic and always believed that Fiona and her mother Lavona had gifts as well.
Lavona had multiple partners and lovers that always ended poorly, and when they did she would turn to the drink. She suffered a miscarriage years before Fiona was born. Then one day, she met and fell in love with Richard Moon, an English jazz musician and poet from New Orleans. She ended up moving there to be with him, where Fiona was born one year later. Richard was not attentive to either of them, often leaving them while he toured. Lavona later found out that she was one of many mistresses he had, and she took Fiona and left.
Lavona began drinking heavily while working as a waitress to try and support her daughter but with her heart so broken by many men, she ended up drinking herself to death when Fiona had just turned three.
Fiona was alone in the house for days before she wandered out into the cold looking for help. She was found in the snow by a neighbor, who then found Lavona.
Fiona was put in foster care for a few months before her grandmother gained custody of her. They moved to Fallbrook when Fiona was ten.
As a child, she would talk to ‘spirits’ and speak of memories of her past lives. All of which seemed normal in her household, but something not something her peers understood
